Mesh steel chain-link - application and classification

Steel woven mesh is one of the most popular and recognizable segments of the rolled metal market. Literally any fence - from private property to industrial areas and partitions for various purposes, is made of steel woven mesh. Fences, and not only, steel wicker mesh, which you can buy at the Rent Metall company at a bargain price, is applicable in various areas:

  • Construction - as a reinforcing frame during insulation works like a sieve for sifting building materials, to strengthen the road asphalt pavement, production of reinforced concrete low-load structures;
  • Mine workings - strengthening of mines and mines, as well as screening - separation of materials into fractions;
  • Agriculture - production of cages, aviaries and partitions, for rabbitries and poultry houses.

Mesh netting, price which is indicated per meter, can be supplied in Moscow and the region without coating, with zinc or polymer coated. Mesh protection against external influence environment allows you to successfully operate it for ten years without changes appearance. Resistance to corrosion, temperature extremes, manufacturability and ease of installation - steel mesh is in great demand and the possibilities of its application are constantly expanding.

Grid steel wicker GOST 5336-80 - production and characteristics

GOST classifies steel woven mesh according to the accuracy of mesh sizes, coating and cell shape. The grid is a fabric with square or rhombic (rhombus angle 60°) cells, woven from flat or round spirals woven into each other in a sequential order. The material of manufacture is low-carbon steel wire, thermally untreated or galvanized. Protective zinc coating is applied in several ways - hot or galvanized. Hot dip galvanizing is carried out in stages - cleaning, degreasing, washing and drying, then immersion in a zinc bath. The steel mesh coated in this way is used for a wide range of construction works and is characterized by durability and resistance to corrosion.

Galvanic coating - applying a layer of zinc by electrochemical action on the metal, as a result, the coating is smooth, without the slightest defect and retains its original appearance for a long time.

It is made from wire with a cross section from 1.2 mm to 5 mm, quality requirements: adjacent spirals are woven with all turns, there are no inverted spirals in the grid. Rolls are supplied with a maximum weight of 80 kg, the weight of a roll is 250 kg for some types of nets. The length of the roll is not more than 10 meters, in agreement with customers it is possible individual order, roll width up to 1.5 meters. The ends of the roll are wrapped either in cloth or paper, the rolls are tied with wire rod or tape.

2. TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

2.1. Grids must be manufactured in accordance with the requirements of this standard according to the technological regulations approved in the prescribed manner, from low-carbon, thermally uncoated or galvanized wire of normal manufacturing accuracy according to TU 14-4-1563.

Grids of the 1st group should be made of wire with minus limit deviations equal to the sum of the absolute values of limit deviations.

(Changed edition, Rev. No. 1, 3).

2.2. Each spiral should consist of one wire.

2.3. Adjacent spirals must be woven into each other with all turns without gaps.

2.4. There should be no inverted spirals in the grid.

(Revised edition, Rev. No. 2).

2.5. The ends of the spirals on both sides of the mesh must be cut off and each end at the junction must be bent to its own spiral.

2.6. Grids after production are rolled up into rolls. The roll must consist of one piece of mesh with a length of at least 5 m for meshes Nos. 5-60 and at least 3 m for meshes Nos. 80, 100.

It is allowed to roll rolls from two pieces sewn in a spiral.

For nets of the 1st group, the roll must consist of one piece with a length of at least 10 m for nets No. 5-60 and at least 5 m for nets No. 80, 100.

(Changed edition, Rev. No. 1, 2).

2.7. The mass of the roll should not exceed 80 kg. For nets No. 80 and 100, it is allowed to increase the mass of the net roll up to 250 kg.

(Revised edition, Rev. No. 1).

3. ACCEPTANCE RULES

3.1. Nets are accepted in batches. The batch must consist of nets of the same number, the same width, the same material and is issued with one quality document. The quality document must contain:

grid symbol;

the width in millimeters and the length of the grid in meters, the total amount of the grid in square meters;

number of rolls per lot.

(Revised edition, Rev. No. 1).

3.2. To check the quality of the weave, the bending of the ends of the spiral, the arithmetic mean of the size of the side of the cell in the light, the length, width of the mesh and the angle of the cell, 5% of the rolls are selected from the batch, but not less than two.

(Revised edition, Rev. No. 2).

3.3. Upon receipt of unsatisfactory test results for at least one of the indicators, it is re-tested on a doubled number of rolls.

The results of the re-inspection are extended to the entire lot.

(Revised edition, Rev. No. 1).

4. TEST METHODS

4.1. The quality of the weave and the bending of the ends of the spirals are determined visually when rewinding the mesh rolls.

4.2. The arithmetic mean value of the size of the side of the cell in the light is determined in three places of the grid, spaced from the edge by at least 100 mm, counted in two directions parallel to the sides of the cell, 10 cells each for grids No. 5-15 and 5 cells each for grids No. 20 -100 and measure the length of the section, including one end wire, on which the counted cells are located. The length of the section to determine the arithmetic mean value of the size of the side of the cell in the light is measured with a meter or a ruler with a division value of 1 mm.

The arithmetic mean value of the size of the side of the cell in the light (a), mm, is calculated by the formula

where I is the length of the section on which 5 or 10 cells sequentially counted in the corresponding directions are located, mm; n is the number of counted cells; d - nominal wire diameter, mm.

The final value of the arithmetic mean of the side of the cell in the light is determined as the arithmetic mean of six measurements.

4.3. The wire diameter is measured with a micrometer according to GOST 6507 before mesh is made.

(Revised edition, Rev. No. 2).

4.4. The width of the grid is measured by the protruding bent ends of the wires with a meter or tape measure with a division value of 1 mm. The length of the mesh is measured in a taut state, which excludes a change in the shape of the cells, with a meter or tape measure with a division value of 1 mm or a counter.

4.5. The cell angle is checked by a goniometer according to GOST 5378 or a template in three places of the grid, but not closer than 2 cells from the edge of the grid.

5. PACKAGING, LABELING, TRANSPORT AND STORAGE

5.1. Each mesh roll must be tied with a low-carbon wire with a diameter of 1.2-2.5 mm in accordance with GOST 3282 or TU 14-4-1563 or waste of this wire in the middle and along the edges, or the end of the mesh web must be tied with the same wire to the roll in the middle and along edges.

(Changed edition, Rev. No. 1, 3).
