Chinese women's clothing designers. Chinese style in interior design: main features. Chinese soul and modern jewelry design

Art objects are known all over the world. Chinese painting pleases the eye, the results of the work of photographers delight adults and children, and families gather to watch feature films. It seems that the Chinese creators have succeeded in everything except design.

Indeed, can you name at least one world-famous representative of this profession? If you can answer these questions with “yes” three times, don’t waste time reading. And if Chinese designers are unknown to you, this article will only benefit. So, meet: three fashion designers from the Middle Kingdom, which you did not know about.

Jimmy Choo is the creator of women's handbags and shoes. As a child, little Jimmy literally lived the dream of sewing beautiful shoes. His parents were shoemakers, they often took work home and the whole process of creating boots and shoes took place before the boy's eyes. Not surprisingly, after graduating from school, Jimmy went to study at the London School of Fashion with a degree in designer. The Chinese designer graduated from this educational institution in 1983, returned to his homeland and began to create his own name.

I must say that Jimmy Choo more than succeeded in his venture. He owns the brand "Jimmy Choo", which is known not only in China, but throughout the world. Handbags and shoes from the Chinese designer are popular with the elite of China, the USA and Europe. In Russia, this brand is not very popular, but you can see the collections and place an order in online stores. If this is your first time encountering this kind of purchase, find out how the order and delivery of goods from China takes place on one of the thematic forums.

Anna Sui is the standard of femininity and the creator of exclusive women's shoes. All that is known about this designer is that the girl graduated with honors from a design school in New York, after which she began to design and manufacture shoes under the Anna Sui brand.

Derek Lam is a multidisciplinary designer. Perhaps this is the only trendsetter from China, whose sphere of interests includes branded sportswear, shoe lines and Jewelry. By the way, products from precious stones and metals by Chinese designer Derek Lam received the Swarovski Perry Ellis Award, which is the best confirmation of world recognition.

It would be unfair to forget about a designer named Philippe Lim. He created his first collection in 2004, at the show of which he impressed even sophisticated fashion connoisseurs. The Phillip Lim brand is not entirely Chinese: the creator lives and works in France. Therefore, we finish our small selection of outstanding designers from the Middle Kingdom with them.

Not only French and Italian designers can produce high quality and fashionable clothes. No matter how dismissively (out of habit) we treat China, there are also many designers in the Celestial Empire, whose clothes are in no way inferior to the creations of European designers.

It is worth paying attention to clothes from the Chinese designer Xiao Li. Xiao Li loves to experiment and play with bright colors. Skirts and dresses are so puffy that they create a puppet look. Stylish furniture

This style does not accept sharp outlines and bulky shapes, so the headset items must be selected concise and elegant. Also, do not stop at tables and chairs with square and triangular silhouettes, and the corners should be smoothed out by obliquely set sofas and armchairs.

Equip the room with laconic sofas on low legs, as required by Feng Shui, bamboo deck chairs, small coffee tables and glossy stools. A large dining set should be chosen voluminous so that all family members, guests and relatives can fit behind it.

Cabinets and shelving are decorated with multi-layer varnishing, a labor-intensive technique. The set also looks beautiful in the design of objects with filigree cutting on dark wood and mother-of-pearl inlay. Exquisite screens and partitions perfectly zone the spacious room.

When decorating a home, the Chinese pay close attention to the philosophy of Feng Shui. It determines the place for each item, accessory and decoration. Paired items in the decoration are set in symmetrical compositions.

For example, it will look great in design dining table and two classic stools on the sides.

Miniature plants in flowerpots and bouquets will complement the decoration. Final accent - aroma sticks. The Chinese interior is a place for a calm and serene rest, as well as relaxation.

Guo Pei is a Chinese high fashion fashion designer. One of the most famous couturiers in China, in 2016 she entered the top 100 most influential people in the world according to Time magazine. She gained wide popularity in the West thanks to her collaboration with Rihanna, who appeared in a dress from Guo Pei at the annual celebration of the Costume Institute Ball. Currently, he continues to work actively, creating and demonstrating new haute couture collections at fashion weeks in France and China.

I have two dreams: to build a fashion museum and to create a library of fashion books to inspire future generations.

High fashion, art or masquerade and redundancy? The controversy of fashion critics around Guo Pei, a young female couturier from China, does not subside. One thing is clear: her outfits can not leave anyone indifferent. Let's get to know the rising star of the fashion industry.

Biography and career

Guo was born in 1967 in Beijing. The family in which the girl was born did not live in poverty: her father was a high-ranking official Communist Party China, and mother is a teacher in kindergarten. The little girl loved to draw from childhood, but her parents did not support her hobbies. One day, having learned that Guo did not fulfill homework and took up her favorite hobby, a strict father tore her drawings: “What kind of life awaits you? Can you make money doing this?" However, another hobby, sewing, was welcomed by parents: Guo Pei's mother did not see well and the girl helped her mend clothes.

In 1982, despite the protests of her parents, the girl decided to devote her life to fashion design and entered the Beijing Institute of Light Industry, and after graduating in 1986, she became a leading designer in a clothing company.

Several years later, having necessary experience, Guo Pei decided to start her own company, Rose Studio. Guo was determined to create truly exclusive, expensive pieces from the finest fabrics, richly embroidered and finished. And she succeeded: wealthy clients, Chinese politicians, movie stars, businessmen almost immediately appreciated the outfits of Guo Pei.

Orders began to arrive one after another, and in 2008 the fashion designer was entrusted with the creation of costumes for the closing ceremony of the Beijing Olympics. Just one of the dresses, for Chinese singer Zuying, took two weeks and thousands of hand-sewn Swarovski crystals.

Fruitful work continued: in 2009, the Thousand and One Nights collection was shown at the Chinese Fashion Week. In 2014, Guo Pei became the lead costume designer for the film "The Monkey King"

Now Guo Pei's company is one of the leading companies in the Chinese fashion industry, it employs about 500 employees, and the list of clients includes top stars, one of which is the famous American pop singer Rihanna. It was thanks to Rihanna, who saw unusual outfits on the Internet and wore one of the designer's creations to the Costume Institute ball in 2015, that the whole world started talking about Guo Pei. A magnificent yellow floor-length dress, richly embroidered and trimmed with fur, was created for two years and weighed 25 kilograms. Three people accompanied Rihanna during the ceremony, helping the singer adequately demonstrate the outfit. Covering the event, Vogue magazine featured this unusual look on the cover, thus introducing Guo Pei, a rising fashion design star from China, to the Western world.

Work is in full swing: 2016 was no less fruitful for Guo Pei. Exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, membership in the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture (high fashion syndicate), the first collection at Paris Fashion Week. It's only the beginning…

Form style

“I love haute couture because it is timeless. Ready-to-wear fashion is fleeting, it will help you quickly become famous, but just as quickly you can be forgotten. I hope that my works will become real works of art,” says Guo Pei herself and brings her credo to life.

The outfits of a talented Chinese fashion designer are not just clothes, they are works of art. Embroidery, fur, rhinestones, beads, exclusive materials, complex cut - all this is the hallmark of images from Guo Pei. The price is high, but the work invested in each image is huge: some dresses are created for a year or even longer.

From different collections

The designer pays great attention to national traditions, and the names of the collections - "Porcelain Dresses", "The Story of the Dragon" - are reminiscent of the majestic civilization of Ancient China. One of business cards Creativity Guo Pei was embroidery, based on the work of Chinese masters of the Qing Dynasty. Guo is trying to revive and show the world the art of embroidery, so almost every dress is embroidered with intricate patterns. Ornaments do not just decorate clothes, as in Ancient China they have a sacred meaning.

Many outfits are complemented by shoes inspired by ancient Chinese and Japanese okobo shoes and headdresses reminiscent of Chinese emperors.

The rich history of the country is an inexhaustible source of inspiration for Guo Pei.

Awards

Despite the fact that Guo Pei is still young, she is the owner of many awards in the fashion industry. Especially often the merits of the fashion designer are noted at home, in China. Some of them:

  • International Fashion Fair - best design, best technology,
  • Lycra Fashion Award is an annual award given to young fashion designers
  • Design Award at China International Fashion Week - Best Dress Design at Beijing International Fashion Week

and many others. In addition, the work of the designer at the Beijing Olympics received the highest marks, and Guo herself was named one of the most influential women in China.

From the interview

What was in fashion during your childhood and youth? And how did it affect you?

G: I first heard about fashion in 1982 - it was a time when China was just beginning to open its borders. Until that time, people were very closed and such a thing as fashion design simply did not exist. Many generations of women have worn the same gray or dark blue. Nobody knew who Yves Saint Laurent was and what haute couture was.

I remember once I wanted to wear a yellow dress to school, but my grandmother forbade me to do it: “No one wears yellow.” Another time, I persuaded my mother to buy me a black shiny outfit and went to class in it. It all ended predictably: I was sent home to change.

Has anything changed in the last thirty years?

G: Not right away. In the 1980s, there were practically no own production clothes and fashion brands, foreign brands were popular. And only in 2008, after the Beijing Olympics, the world saw the work of Chinese designers. That's it more Chinese people buy clothes of their compatriots, national cultural traditions are being revived.

There is an opinion that the fashion industry in China is far behind. What do you think of it?

G: Yes, it is. But on the other hand, the fashion business in China is developing very quickly: our country is rapidly catching up with Europe and America. Thirty years ago in Chinese there was not even a word “fashion”, and now we have our own talented designers.

It seems to me that Chinese fashion is underestimated. A few years ago, many people, upon learning that I studied design in China, shrugged their shoulders dismissively and considered it a sign of low qualification. Now everything has changed, the level vocational training designers has grown many times over. A French fashion expert visited my studio and was shocked to see haute couture dresses. He then believed that such things can only be created in Europe. Of course, French couturiers are rightfully considered the best in the world, but there are talented and original fashion designers in our country.

Do you think that China Fashion Week has spurred the development of the fashion business in China?

G: Absolutely. Some people think that Chinese Fashion Week should be like Paris or New York, but I think we should go our own way.

How would you describe your style?

G: Sunny, warm and positive. My collections tell about the enjoyment of life, joy, love. I love sophistication, luxury, femininity and I try to convey all this in my work.

Your favorite designers?

G: Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent, Christian Dior, Yohji Yamamoto, Rei Kawakubo and many others. It's hard to choose just one.

What do you think every woman should have in her wardrobe?

A sexy dress that makes you feel irresistible, beautiful shoes, a bag, a high-quality business suit for work and a set of exquisite lingerie.

Give advice to young designers.

G: Take your time: even now, after many years, I feel that I have only just begun to understand fashion and design. Coco Chanel, Christian Dior, Karl Lagerfeld worked hard before they became famous couturiers. In order to get success and recognition, you need to constantly work and be able to wait. As they say, the slower you go, the further you will be.

With each new season, the Celestial Empire strengthens its position as a new world fashion center. Local consumers love to dress up and start spending money in a big way. It is for this reason that many fashion brands are starting to release special individual collections for consumers from China. And now, Christopher Bailey, creative director of the famous fashion brand Burberry, has released a collection of exclusive clothes designed specifically for the Shanghai store Kerry Centre. Shanghai is recognized as the "glamorous" capital of the Celestial Empire, while in Beijing locals prefer to dress in city casual fashion.
The new collection from Burberry includes evening dresses, coats, and trench coats made in golden tones. This collection of clothes is intended for sale in a single outlet.
The development of fashion in China is not limited to foreign brands and designers sewing clothes for the local market. In the country itself, many interesting and talented designers are emerging, destroying the stereotype about China as a place where only foreign brands are sewn. Below we highlight some of China's most prominent designers and internationally acclaimed brands.

1. Zuc Zug.

This trade brand became famous thanks to the efforts of designer Wen Yian. Wen always tries to emphasize that his clothes are for ordinary people and for everyday use: for fashion shows and for advertising shoots, he specifically recruits non-professionals of all ages, sizes and origins. This principle is clearly manifested in all his works: all the things of the designer are comfortable, they can often be seen in the wardrobes of the inhabitants of Shanghai or Hong Kong, where the brand's boutiques are located. The designer has been following this attitude in his work for more than 10 years: he founded his brand in 2002, as a talented designer he was noticed a few years later, and recently he was mentioned in the annual results. Chinese version reputable international edition of the Wall Street Journal.

2. Yang Du.

Animal motifs are constantly present in the things produced under this brand: hedgehogs, foxes, etc. are patterns for clothes. Brand designer Yang Du, who develops the brand's items, says that she is inspired by the fauna of the countries she visits. Now the girl lives in London, where the things she designed have become very popular among British publications such as Dazed & Confused.

3. Qiuhao.

Chinese designer Qiu Hao began trying to launch his own fashion brand in 2001, first on his own, then with a partner. However, popularity came to him only after studying at CSM. After studying, Hao went to China and founded his own trademark Qiuhao. Qiu Hao's favorite colors are black and white, while he focuses on creating volume and cut. This approach brought him great popularity in China: among other achievements, Qiu Hao was included in the Forbes list of the 25 most significant representatives of the Chinese fashion industry.

4. Wega Wang.

This is another CSM graduate. Returning to China from Britain in 2008, she founded her own brand. The girl says that studying in Britain greatly influenced her worldview, but at the same time she tries to remember her Chinese roots and adhere to national traditions. In China, Western style helped Vega Van - simple silhouettes, colorful prints attracted the attention of local Vogue and Harper's Bazzar.

5. Yang Li.

Designer Yang Li has lived for a considerable part of his life in the city of Perth, located in Australia, and even feared that he would spend the rest of his life there. However, his fears were in vain: he managed to go to study in England, where he still lives today. On the work of Lee big influence provided by his teacher Raf Simons, with whom he interned after graduating from CSM. The designer has released several minimalist collections made of high-tech materials. In an interview with the popular American edition of Elle, Yang Li said that Raf Simons trained him to respond to the needs of the fashion industry and sew clothes that customers want to wear.

6. Exception de Mixmind and Wu Yong.

These brands were created by designer Ma Ki. The first brand is engaged in the creation of a kind of haute couture - intricately tailored, voluminous models are sewn there, unsuitable for everyday wear, which is why the name of the brand is translated as “useless”. The second brand is an answer to the direction of the fashion industry in China, which is engaged in tailoring things for foreign mass brands by low-paid seamstresses. Ma Ki was the only Chinese representative to be invited to show at Paris Fashion Week.

7. Huishan Zhang.

This young man promises to become the same famous master in the near future. Chinese origin in England what Jason Wu has become in the United States. The thirty-year-old CSM graduate specializes in womenswear, loves to use lace and plant motifs in prints. After studying, Hushan Zhang moved to China where he created his own brand. Appearing on Topshop, a TV program supporting young designers, he gained notoriety in the UK, where he was invited to showcase collections at London Fashion Week. After moving to England, the designer did not forget about China, where he buys most of the materials for his collections.
