Homemade kite. The best kite designs. rotary kite

run kite not only children love it. For adults, a fun hobby allows you to a short time to return to a carefree time again, to feel the joy of flying. You can buy a finished product, but it is much more interesting to make a snake on a string with your own hands. Using improvised materials and drawings, you can easily cope with this task.

Types of kites you can make yourself

In order to make a kite with your own hands, you need 5 things: elementary labor skills, materials, drawings, desire and patience. All structures are made according to the same principle: a base with aerodynamic properties different shapes and rope. The kite can be flat and voluminous, simple or consisting of several links.

Such a thing can be found in the store, but it will be a typical replicated version. It is better to make a controlled kite yourself, and then launch and enjoy the result.

The first who came up with the idea of launching a structure in the form of a kite or dragon into the sky were the Chinese. They took up this fascinating business in the 5th century BC.

Flat kite made of paper, nylon or polyethylene

Together with children, you can make a simple version of a domestic snake, which is called "Monk".

  1. Take a sheet of thick paper of any color in A4 size. Attach the lower right corner to the left long side so that it is combined with a short one. It turns out a triangle with an upper single part. Cut it off, unfold the sheet, you get a square.
  2. Mentally or with a pencil, draw a straight line between two opposite corners of the square - mark its axis.
  3. Bend the sheet so that the right and left sides of the square "lie" on its axis.
  4. Bend the corners up twice according to the accordion principle.
  5. On both sides, glue a thread 30 cm long into the middle of the accordion. It turned out to be a “bridle”.
  6. Strictly in the center of the bridle, tie a rope to launch and control the kite.

It is impossible to control a snake without a tail, so do not forget to make a rope of ribbons or threads intertwined and tied at the bottom with a tassel.

  1. Make 20 pieces of ordinary thread or 5-6 of wool. Their length for a small snake should be at least 50 cm.
  2. Fold the cut blanks together and tie with a brush towards the end or twist into a pigtail. You can decorate the tail with bows or paper triangles.
  3. Make a hole in the bottom corner of the kite, thread the tail through and tie in a knot or glue it.
  4. If you use ribbons or strips of fabric instead of thread, thread them through the hole, fold over and hem upper part to the bottom.

In addition to their decorative and entertainment functions, the first kites in China were used in construction. With their help, ropes were thrown over reservoirs and ravines for the subsequent construction of bridges.

Paper, fabric and wood construction

Compared to the "Monk" in the manufacture of this kite, there are some complications. In addition to paper, you will need thin wooden slats and fabric.

To make such a kite, prepare in advance:

  • 2 notebook sheets;
  • 3 slats (2 60 cm long, 1 - 40 cm);
  • strong kapron thread;
  • colored fabric.

Scheme of a triangular kite made of polyethylene

The triangular kite is another type of flat design that is more difficult to make. But the result of work will surely please you. The kite turns out to be a classic triangular shape, bright and very beautiful.

From the materials you will need:

  • plastic bag, better bright and tight;
  • reiki (straight sticks made of bamboo, willow, linden, pine, or simply window glazing beads);
  • rope or fishing line with a reel.

Dimensions finished product depend on the size of the package and the height of the launcher. Use percentage notation as shown in the diagram. Decide which figure is taken as 100%, and then use a calculator to calculate specific values.

For accurate marking, substitute your values and calculate the parameters of the kite in centimeters

  1. Cut out the "body" of the kite from the bag according to the drawing.
  2. Prepare 4 slats of appropriate sizes: two side rails of the same size, one long longitudinal and one short transverse.
  3. Fix with any glue first the side rails on the sides, then the longitudinal in the middle, and at the end the central transverse.
  4. Attach a keel in the middle of the kite with tape.
  5. In the center of the bottom of the canvas, cut a hole into which you can thread the tail made from the scraps of the bags.
  6. Tie one fishing line to each corner, fasten them together with a knot.
  7. Attach a fishing line with a reel to the resulting “bridle” for launching and control.

Interesting fact. In ancient times, kites were used for military purposes: for reconnaissance, sending messages or gunpowder to enemy territory.

Drawing of a product in the form of a rhombus

This design is made according to the same principle as triangular serpent. You will need 2 slats (60 and 30 cm), a plastic bag, fishing line and tape.

  1. Fold the slats in a cross so that the short one crosses the long one at a height of one quarter of the total length.
  2. Tie them with tape or string.
  3. Put the resulting cross on a plastic bag.

    We measure the desired size and shape of the future kite

  4. Cut out the canvas in the shape of a diamond, leaving a small margin.
  5. Pull it over the rack cross, tuck the stock and glue or hem.

    We fit the cross of the kite with a bag and cut it off

  6. Tie a fishing line to the intersection of the sticks and to the lower corner of the rhombus. Just in case, make a few turns and fix well.

    We tie the fishing line to the intersection of the sticks

  7. Tie the fishing lines together with a knot to which you attach the fishing line with the reel. It turns out a bridle.
  8. Attach the tail, also cut out of cellophane, to the end of the axial stick with adhesive tape.

In order for a kite to fly well, its tail must be 10 times longer than its base.

Interesting fact. In the XIII - XIV centuries, air structures were used to study natural phenomena and observe the weather.

To make a kite, you can also use the scheme.

How to make a bird design

To get a kite that resembles a bird in flight, use one trick: fasten the bowstring between the side parts. Under the pressure of the wind, it will then stretch, then weaken, making the structure "winged".

Necessary materials:

  • 8 sticks with a diameter of less than 1 cm and a length of 30.5 cm, 3 sticks of 91.5 cm and 3 of 150 cm from linden or pine;
  • nylon or polyethylene film;
  • fishing line;
  • coil.
  1. Place 150 cm long rods in front of you parallel to each other.
  2. Across, place a 91.5 cm stick at a distance of 59.75 cm from the edge.
  3. Tie it with threads so that between the first and second there is a distance of 30.5 cm, and between the second and third - 61 cm.
  4. Stepping back 30.5 cm to the larger side, attach a second stick 91.5 cm long.
  5. Tie 4 short slats at a distance of 30.5 cm from each other at an angle so that they converge at the bottom into a triangle (see diagram).
  6. Close the closed ends of the short planks with the last rail 91.5 cm long. We got a “day nursery” tied in the center of the structure.
  7. Tie everything with threads smeared with glue.
  8. Fasten the ends of long sticks pre-moistened with water. You need to wet them so that they do not break when bent.
  9. Between the ends of the "wings" stretch the fishing line.
  10. To make the “body” of the snake, cut a pentagon out of fabric (upper and lower sides 30.5 cm each, height 91.5 cm + 2 cm per collar). In the center, make a square with a side length of 30.5 cm.
  11. From the bottom corners of the square, measure 59.75 cm left and right.
  12. To the obtained points, stretch the segments from the ends of the upper and lower sides of the pentagon. It turned out a canvas with a window in the middle.
  13. Sheathe and glue the wooden frame of the kite.
  14. In addition, cut 4 inserts for the "crèche". Each size 30.5 x 30.5 cm. Insert them into the "windows", glue.
  15. Make a tail out of the rope and the remnants of the fabric, attach the "manger" on one side.
  16. On the other hand, make a bridle from two interconnected lines and tightly tie a thread with a spool (rail) to them.

In order for the structure not to collapse on one side and not disintegrate in the air, adhere to the dimensions exactly and tightly tie the parts together.

It is problematic to launch such a kite alone, so call your comrades and get a surge of joy from launching the "bird" into the sky.

Volumetric (box) kites

To create a voluminous kite, you will need:

  • wooden slats (window glazing beads can be used) - 4 pcs. 1 m long and 6 by 60 cm;
  • large garbage bags;
  • durable nylon tourniquet on a reel from a hardware store;
  • scotch;
  • ruler;
  • square;
  • scissors;
  • glue.

Volumetric kite flies high and beautifully, and you can make it yourself

Successful launch secrets

You can fly a kite alone, but this requires a certain skill. It is more convenient and more fun to do it together. One holds a snake, the other a spool of fishing line or thread (handle). The main condition for a successful launch is the presence of wind from 3–4 m/s, as well as an open area without trees and wires.

  1. The person who holds the handrail becomes so that the wind blows in his back, unwinds 10-20 meters of the rope and pulls it.
  2. The second moves to the length of the rope, runs up and launches the kite. He must seize the moment and pull the rope.
  3. If the wind is not strong enough and the kite starts to lose altitude or cannot rise at all, the lifeguard will also have to run.

If you want to have a great time, be creative with the whole family - make a kite. It is quite easy to make it yourself. The spirit of unity, joy and fun will be a reward for the time and effort spent.

Almost everyone is familiar with the concept of a kite. A rope immediately appears, on which an object is attached, developing through the air. In fact, the world of kites is much more diverse. There are many various kinds kites. They differ in size, design, purpose.

People have long been interested in the abilities of flying kites. They are widely used in everyday life. And now, it is no secret that designing and flying a kite is one of the favorite activities of people.

How pleasant it is to experience the ease of flight when launching a kite into the sky, to feel like a part of this aircraft. Especially if it's handmade. You put a part of your soul into it when you create it, and when you see it rise to heaven, you feel joy for justified and rewarded work.

Since 1985, International Kite Day has been celebrated around the world on the second Sunday of October. Various competitions and master classes are held on this day. There are kite festivals around the world where every amateur or professional can fly their kite into the air.

Such an extraordinary and unique activity as the creation of a kite with your own hands and its launch is available to everyone. It just takes a little time and desire.

History of flying kites

Flying, in a different way air, a kite is one of the most ancient aircraft structures. Its origin is attributed to countries such as China and Malaysia. It is believed that in these countries around the second century BC. e. the first mention of a kite appeared. So, for example, in China, a similar design resembled a snake with a dragon's head.

Hence the name snakes, which is preserved at the present time. The very idea of \u200b\u200bcreating a flying kite was peeped from nature. In order to say how and under what circumstances this happened, there are many stories, but none of them has an exact confirmation. The significance and popularity of this invention has been overshadowed by the details of such things.

Application

From the very beginning of its development, the kite has found application in such areas as military affairs, everyday life and ritual activities. In military affairs, kites were used to measure the distance of the territory and objects of enemies when planning military operations, as well as to demoralize enemy troops by intimidating such aerial structures. Since the middle of the 18th century, flying kites have been found practical use. So, they are beginning to be used in the scientific field when conducting experiments. Lomonosov, Euler, Newton are among the many who used kites in their experiments. Kites have found application in research in areas such as meteorology, terrain photography, sports, and many others. For the development of the wings of the first aircraft, valuable material was the information obtained in the process of studying the aerodynamics of flying kites. Now the kite is mainly used for sports (for example, kitesurfing) and recreational purposes.

Technique for making different types of kites

Flat kite "Monk"

This type of flying kite is the simplest. To directly obtain the desired design, you need to cut a square sheet

Necessary materials:

  • A4 paper (a sheet of newspaper, polyethylene, nylon is also suitable),
  • a thread 30 cm long, ribbons, threads (both ordinary and woolen).
  • Threads or strips of some fabric will be used to make the kite's tail.

Technique for making a kite:

  • Prepare an A4 sheet, and the paper should be thick. Then position the lower right corner of the sheet so that it touches the largest left side, which in turn is aligned with the smaller left side. Thus, if we do not take into account the upper strip, we get the figure of a double drop-down triangle. After the upper rectangle is cut off, it will be possible to achieve an even square sheet.
  • Draw the axis of the square with a pencil or pen, connecting its two opposite corners with a line.
  • Arrange the right and left sides of the square so that they are adjacent to its axis. And like an accordion, bend the corners up twice.
  • Get the so-called "bridle" by gluing a 30 cm long thread into the middle of the accordion. Moreover, this is done on both sides of the accordion.
  • Prepare a rope to launch the kite and control it. It is necessary to tie a rope in the center of the bridle.

To make a tail for a kite, you need to follow these steps:

  • Achieve a length of threads of at least 50 cm. Approximately so much is needed for a medium-sized kite. If the threads are ordinary, then you need to make 20 pieces, if woolen, then it will be enough to make 6.
  • Connect the prepared segments and tie closer to the end, so that you get a brush, or you can still make a pigtail. To make the kite more colorful, you can add some bright objects to the tail. They can be cut out of paper.
  • Attach the tail directly to the snake. It is necessary through the hole made in the lower part of the snake, insert the tail prepared according to the previous paragraph. After glue with glue or tie in a knot.

Air "Russian" kite made of paper, fabric and wood

The design of this snake has some complications, and also requires larger view materials.

Necessary materials:

  • Two notebook sheets
  • thin wooden slats 3 pieces, two of them are 60 cm long, and one is 40 cm long,
  • any color fabric
  • strong kapron thread,
  • scissors,
  • glue,
  • nail file small size,
  • ruler for cutting,
  • pencil.

Technique for making a kite:

First you need to assemble the frame. In order to do this, you need to follow these steps:

  • We take two slats, each of which is 60 cm long, find the middle in them and put one on top of the other in the middle area. The middle can be marked with a pencil. We fix this position with a rope in the middle.
  • We lay a 40 cm long rail so that its ends touch the two ends of the other rails, that is, at the very edge, so that a triangle forms. We fix in places of contact with a rope.
  • We take the thread and tie it around the remaining perimeter, pulling it slightly so that a closed square is formed, and inside it there are intersecting diagonals in the form of 60 cm rails.

After that, tightening is done using the steps below:

  • We take two notebook sheets and glue them along the edge of a longer length (unfolded side).
  • We put the frame prepared earlier on top of the glued paper and cut the paper to the size of the frame, leaving 2 cm from the edge of the frame for bending.
  • We tuck the paper along the edge of the frame and glue it with glue.

To make the paper cover tighter, you can spray it with water and leave to dry.

  • We take a pin and stick it where the slats intersect. We tie one of the ends of the thread to one of the upper ends of the frame. We wrap the thread around the pin and then tie it to the other upper end. We mark the place where the thread touched the pin, and remove the pin.
  • Now we use the second thread of the bridle. We turn the snake over, laying it on a close-fitting. We tie the thread at the intersection of the rails in the center.
  • In the center where the pin or carnation was stuck, depending on what was used, we make a small hole. You can use scissors for this. Through this hole we pass the thread obtained in the previous step.
  • We draw this thread to the upper border of the kite and at the very end, where the thread reaches the rail, we make a mark on it with a pencil.
  • We place the thread under the first part of the bridle, which interacted with the upper ends, wrap it around and make a knot, tightening it so that it is tied in place of the pencil mark from the previous step.
  • We find another mark on the first thread and shift the knot to this mark, tie another knot for strength. The node must be exactly in the middle of the structure.

To make a tail, you need to perform the following sequence of actions:

  • We take a thread 60 cm long, tie it to the lower edge of the frame, then to the second lower end to make a semi-arc.
  • Set the frame aside. We make strips of any fabric 7-8 cm wide.
  • We tie the strips together with ordinary knots until we get a tail length of 4 - 4.5 m. A loop is made at one end of the tail, but it is not tightened to the very end. Next, we take a thread 15 cm long and draw it through an loose knot, tie the thread well and make a strong knot.
  • We take the snake and create a loop right along the central part of the bridle of the tail, make a knot and connect it with a thread at the tail. The snake is ready!

Polyethylene triangular kite

It is too flat design snake, but requires a lot of effort in making. The kite will be in the shape of a clear triangle and when used bright materials will look very nice. It turns out more durable than kite and hence will last longer. Such snakes are unpretentious to the weather, they are easily disassembled.

Necessary materials:

  • Polyethylene bag of any color and dense in structure,
  • 4 slats,
  • rope or fishing reel.

A triangular, or otherwise, deltoid kite consists of four elements: two side rails, a central rail, and a transverse one. It is better to make such a kite according to the drawing. Dimensions are also calculated according to the drawing, first you need to take some part, for example, the length of the central rail, as the base one and start calculating all other dimensions from it.

Technique for making a kite:

  • Take the prepared package and looking at the drawing, cut out the kite.
  • Prepare 4 slats, the size of which is calculated in accordance with the drawing: long longitudinal, short transverse, two side, the size of which is the same.
  • At the beginning, glue the side rails on the sides. After glue along the central part of the longitudinal. At the very end, use glue to fix the central cross. Attach the keel to the middle part of the kite with adhesive tape.
  • Insert the tail into the hole made in the central part of the bottom of the canvas. The tail is constructed from pieces of packages obtained by trimming.
  • Tie along the fishing line to the corners. Then tie them together with a knot.
  • In order to launch the kite and control it, it is necessary to connect a fishing line with a reel to the “bridle” made.

This type of flying kite is similar in design to the triangular kite.

Necessary materials:

  • Rail with a length of 60 cm,
  • rail with a length of 30 cm,
  • scotch,
  • polyethylene bag,
  • fishing line.

Technique for making a kite:

  • First you need to arrange the slats in a cross so that a 30 cm long rail can cross a 60 cm long rail at a height equal to one fourth of the total length.
  • After you need to bandage the slats in this position with adhesive tape. Put the resulting cross on the prepared polyethylene bag.
  • Then cut out the canvas, shaped like a rhombus, while leaving some margin.
  • Stretch the resulting canvas on a cross of slats. As for the stock, it must be tucked and hemmed or glued with glue.
  • Tie one fishing line both to the corner at the bottom of the diamond, and to where the sticks intersect. All this is well fixed with a few turns.
  • Get a bridle. To do this, you need to connect a knot of fishing line. Do not forget to attach the fishing line with the reel to the knot.
  • And the last thing to do is attach the tail with tape to the end of the axle stick. The tail can also be cut out of cellophane.

Can be achieved better flight a kite, if the following proportions are observed: the size of the tail of the kite is 10 times the size of the base.

Bird kite

This kind of kite actually resembles a bird due to the resulting design effect. It turns out peculiar waves, similar to the flapping of the wings of a bird. They help to see the bird and special cuts in the form of feathers on the wings.

Necessary materials:

  • 8 sticks whose diameter is less than 1 cm and the length is 30.5 cm,
  • 3 sticks with lengths equal to 91.5 cm,
  • 3 sticks with lengths of 150 cm (sticks can be made, for example, from pine).
  • You will also need a fishing line,
  • polyethylene film,
  • coil.

Technique for making a kite:

  • First you need to arrange the 150-centimeter rods in parallel.
  • At a distance equal to 59.75 cm (counting from the edge), place a stick with a length of 91.5 cm. This must be done across.
  • Tie a stick with thread. Moreover, between the first two rails, the distance should be equal to 30.5 cm, between the second two should be 61 cm.
  • Then make an indent equal to 30.5 cm, to the big side. Attach another stick, the length of which is 91.5 cm.
  • Place 4 short slats at a distance of 30.5 cm from each other. They need to be placed at an angle, which would allow them to converge at the bottom into a triangle.
  • Get attached in the central part of the design of the kite "nursery". Put the last rail on the converged ends of the short planks. The length of the rail is 91.5 cm. And then tie everything with threads soaked in glue.
  • Soak the ends of long sticks in water and connect them. The wetting procedure is carried out so that they do not break when they are bent.
  • Between the tips of the resulting "wings" of the snake, pull the fishing line.
  • To construct the body of a snake, you need to cut out a piece of fabric that resembles a pentagon in shape. Moreover, the upper side should be 30.5 cm, like the lower one, a height equal to 91.5 cm + 2 cm for tucking. It is also necessary to make a square with a side of 30.5 cm in the middle.
  • Measure to the left and right parts from the lower corners of the square by 59.75 cm. And stretch to the points indicated after that the segments from the end of both the upper and lower sides of the pentagon-shaped piece of fabric, which will make it possible to get a canvas with a cutout in the center.
  • Sheathe the wooden rod of the kite. Also use glue for gluing the rod.
  • You will need to cut 4 more inserts. Their size should be 30.5 x 30.5 cm for the "crèche". Place them in the cutouts and glue.
  • After you can make a tail out of rope. Also, any remnants of fabric can go to create a tail. And finally, attach it to one of the sides of the "crèche".
  • It is also necessary to make a bridle from the connected lines and tie a thread tightly to them. (Thread with handrail).

The box kite is no longer a flat kite, but a three-dimensional kite. Unlike flat kites, it has more lift. The design of such a snake has a body, put and cord. This snake has no tail.

Necessary materials:

  • Reiki 4 pcs. 100 cm each
  • slats 6 pcs. 60 cm each
  • garbage bags (preferably large ones for 60 liters or more) or cotton or silk fabric,
  • kapron harness on the coil,
  • scotch,
  • straight and angled ruler
  • scissors,
  • glue.

Technique for making a kite:

  • The frame of the kite must be in the form of a parallelogram, the term box-shaped is often used. The sides of each rectangular face are related in size as one part to three parts, or one part to four parts. The shape of the box is created using slats.
  • It is also necessary to carry out diagonal slats in the body of the lower and upper faces. The dimensions of the rails must match. Suitable slats with both round and square section, there is no fundamental preference.

But it would be better if all the rails were of the same section and not curved.

  • The rails are connected to each other in such a way that the ends of the rail protrude from the place of its fastening with another rail by 5 cm. To make this possible, each rail is made 10 cm longer than the intended size. The slats must be tightly connected to each other, usually the place where one slat is superimposed on top of the other, tied with a rope or strong thread, can also be additionally fastened with glue.
  • After the body of the kite is ready, it must be covered with a cloth or film, depending on what was prepared from the materials, but not completely, but only the lower and upper parts, while leaving the middle not covered. For strength, fix the sheathing with glue or sew. It is not necessary to make the kite frame in the shape of a parallelogram, it can also be made in the shape of a rhombus, that is, the body must be made in the shape of a parallelepiped.
  • Even to improve flight performance, you can make wings to the side surfaces of the body. The wings are cut from the same material from which the body was covered, in the form of a right triangle. The dimensions of the winglet are determined according to the fact that it must cover the entire side to which it is attached, and in terms of span, extend to a length equal to the length snake frame. They are also attached to the side with glue and threads.
  • The attachment of the kite to the cord is made of two lines, which are connected together with a knot or ring. If you use a ring, then it is easier to attach a cord to it for launching. The dimensions of the attachment to the cord do not depend on the selected frame shape.
  • Since this type of snake does not have a tail, the lower skin is taken for the tail for convenience. By launching a kite, they try to regulate its position in air masses, creating a balance of the upper part of the skin and the lower part of the tail. But balance is not so easy to achieve! It is necessary that the kite is located at the right angle in the air masses. The desired angle will not work right away, it must be adjusted when launching the kite, changing the position of the kite mounts, that is, the lines, and their length.
  • There are several nuances that can tell you what to do with the kite mounts. For example, if a kite does not take off in any way or flies at a low altitude and does not rise higher in any way, then this means that the built kite has too massive a lower skin, that is, a tail. In order to correct this situation, it is necessary either to replace the lower attachment line with a longer one and adjust the new junction of the rails, or to replace the upper line with a shorter one. You may have to do this several times until the kite starts to fly normally. Another example. If the kite in the air is too twisted, this indicates that the lower skin is underweight, too light. In this case, the opposite is done: the upper line is taken longer or the lower one is replaced with a shorter one.
  • The larger the box kite, the more lift it has. But to launch a larger kite, it is better to use a light cord or fishing line.

The concept of "Kite train" was introduced by Sergei Alekseevich Ulyanin, who created a design of 7-10 kites connected into one flexible system capable of lifting four observers. Such designs began to be actively used in military operations in order to land a person without incident for life or conduct a reconnaissance operation on enemy territory, since if one of the components failed, only a decrease in lift and a decrease in height occurred, and not the collapse of the entire system.

To make a "Kite Train", you need to make several flying kites, not necessarily the same shape or size, there is a place where fantasies roam, and combine them into single system. Then you get a composite structure, consisting of flying kites following one after another, connected as one.

Successful launch of a flying kite

To fly a kite into the air, much preparation and special skills are not required. The main thing is to find right place and the right wind.

As for the place, it should be an open space without any objects that could interfere with a successful launch. The obstacle may be trees in which the kite can get stuck, buildings, hills, etc. Most suitable places where you can fly a kite, protrude the field and coastline. Also, as a rule, in cities there are specially designated places for launches. They gather all amateurs and professionals who want to fly their kite into the air. Usually, an area of 1600 square meters is enough for flying kites. m.

As for the wind, it should be from 3 to 4 m/s. With too much wind, there is a risk of endangering yourself and others, as well as damaging the kite itself. It is important to take into account such a parameter of the wind as its direction. It is recommended to place the kite in front of you, and to be with your back towards the wind.

There are several types of successful kite flying:

  • So, the first is the usual launch, which involves two people and a flying kite of any type. In this case, one participant in the launch will hold the kite, and the second will unwind approximately 20 meters of the lifeline, maybe less, but not more. The latter should position himself with his back to the wind, and facing the kite, carefully pulling the rail. Then the person holding the kite runs and launches it into the air. If there is not enough wind power or the kite starts to descend to the ground, losing height, then the participant with the lifeline will need to run back until the kite flies higher, catching the wind.
  • The second way to fly a kite is called Hand Launching. For this type of launch, one participant is enough, who launches the kite without a bridle or with a short bridle. The launcher holds on to the rail next to the kite and pulls it towards himself, slowly lifting it off the ground. As soon as the kite rises into the air, it is enough to unwind the rail. With a properly built kite, there should be no difficulty.
  • The last type of launch "Pull - release" implies a small space for flying a kite and both one participant and two. This method is especially convenient when there is no possibility of launching a kite on large space, since it does not require running up to raise the position of the kite in the air. The launch starts like a Hand Launch or with the lifeline unwound as much as possible and the kite held by the second competitor. The first participant goes back, the rail does not unwind. The kite is lifted up maximum height, taking into account the length of the rail, and then, lowering the rail, ensures that the kite completely lowers its height, thereby unwinding the rail. By repeating this sequence of actions, it is necessary to achieve a raising of a flying kite to a height with an acceptable wind for independent raising of the kite into the air.

Safety

In order to fly a kite and protect yourself from injury and death, as well as not bring inconvenience to anyone, the following safety rules must be observed:

  • Do not fly a kite near power lines, railway, airport, close to motorway
  • Ensure the correctness and strength of the kite design
  • Avoid launches in storms and thunderstorms
  • Comply with airfield flight rules
  • Do not fly a kite near, behind, or above people
  • Do not fly a kite near large animals, such as horses
  • When controlling the kite, use a reel or gloves so as not to injure your hands.

Creating a kite and flying it is an amazing activity that will bring only the warmest and most joyful emotions to you and your loved ones.

Science experiments for children will allow your kids to touch a piece of boundless power that the Earth's atmosphere has. Thanks to the oncoming currents and the strength of the wind, a kite can stay in the air for many hours. If you create such a flying toy with your own hands, pride in the success achieved will be legitimate and fully justified. We'll tell you how make a kite with your own hands at home. Let's get to work!

What do we need

Prepare for work following:

  • Big newspaper
  • Two round planks with a diameter slightly less than a centimeter and lengths of 60 and 50 cm.
  • Scissors
  • Pencil
  • Twine
  • Ruler
  • Ribbons
  • file
  • Scotch.

What are we doing

We measure and cut saw strips of the length we need. We make small cuts at their ends. We put a longer knitting needle vertically and measure a distance of fifteen centimeters from its upper edge and mark it with a pencil. In this place we will place a shorter plank: it will be at right angles to the long one so that both pieces of wood will form a large "T".

Connecting planks together with a strong thread, and on top of it we use adhesive tape. Threading the twine into the cuts made earlier, we create the edges of our future explorer of the heavens.

We put skeleton on a newspaper and cut out a figure from it, the boundaries of which are at a distance of two to three centimeters from the perimeter of the kite. We turn up the newspaper and fasten our craft with tape.

Cut off the thread sixty cm long. We make holes in the upper and lower ends of the homemade product. We thread the edges of the twine into them and securely fasten them with tape. We got it bridle, to which the “leash” connecting the snake to the ground will be attached.

It came to a tail- multi-colored ribbons will serve as material for it. Now you can start our science experiments for kids or just have fun (or better yet, combine both).

It is best to launch crafts in flight on a large field or beach. I'll have to run while you lift the result of your labor into the air!

But when the kite soars, you can watch its free gliding endlessly!

You will find even more exciting handicraft projects in this section of our website. Mastery is the key to success! Thank you for your time and hard work! Science experiments for kids: Move over, clouds!

Summer time has come. Children are spending more and more time outdoors. And although there are many interesting ideas, what to do with kids in summer, creating with your own hands and then flying a kite can be the brightest and most memorable event for the whole family. The participants of "" were convinced of this from their own experience and share their ideas and impressions with us. Large gallery of kites various forms and colors will surely inspire you to create your own conqueror of the air spaces!

We decided to make a kite. We found a simple instruction on the Internet and began to tinker.
We acted like this:

In the process, my daughter actively participated and helped: she fastened the sticks together, glued the packaging with adhesive tape, and made bows. As it turns out, it's quite easy. And how much delight, squealing and laughter was when flying a kite! Such emotions of the child are definitely worth the effort and time spent.

Kite "Monk"

I suggested to my husband to make a kite with my daughter. As a result, he got carried away and began to work independently, so in the meantime my daughter and I decided to make our own kite. This occupation was new for me, so the choice fell on the simplest model "Monk".

Materials and tools: thread, A3 sheet of thick paper, scissors, PVA glue.

Manufacturing process:

  • Cut out a square from a piece of paper.
  • Carefully bend the edges along the axis as shown in the diagram. We bend the corners of the paper. The angle can be a little less than in the diagrams - as it will be more convenient for you.
  • We bend the edge of the bent corner again so that we get something like an accordion or spring.
  • We make a “bridle” - cut off a piece of thread about 30 cm long and paste it into the resulting paper pockets.

Here my daughter decided to color our kite :)

While the kite dries, prepare the tail for it. This is important, the kite will not fly without a balancer. For the tail, I used several lengths of woolen threads about 50 cm long. Put them together and tie them into a tassel near the end of the tail. Cut out a triangle from the waste paper and glue the tail. We tie a skein with a regular thread to the bridle. The snake is ready.

The launch of our "first-born" was successful. The kite did not fly high, but confidently!

red kite

Vladik made a kite with his dad. For the base of the kite, 2 sticks from balloons were taken. They were fastened perpendicular to each other. Then a nylon thread was pulled around the perimeter.

Next, a rectangle was cut out of paper with additives for the hem. The edges were bent and glued to the thread around the perimeter. A nylon thread was stretched from the three upper corners of the kite to the center and fastened.

To control the kite, one end of the thread was tied to the resulting center, its other end was wound on a homemade coil from a roll from toilet paper.

Finishing touches: the snake was dyed and a tail was made from a thread with strips of wrapping paper tied to it. The snake is ready!

Lydia Maloletkova and son Vlad, 6 years old.

They began to make a kite as soon as they received a task in the Ecological Expedition. And it turned out two snakes, because. There are two children and one common option has not yet passed. I took a diagram of the simplest kite from the Internet, it turned out to be the “Monk” kite.

I took thick paper, folded it according to the scheme, the children began to color. Vanya depicted with blown felt-tip pens (we had a stencil), Nastya tried to blow it out, but it seemed to her too long a process, and then she simply painted over the stencil, and I circled the outline.

After the design work, I glued the ends of the thread into the wings of the snake with Moment glue. I took a strong thread. And woolen threads went to the tail.

They launched at the dacha, but by that time the second kite had disappeared somewhere, so only one flew ... So much delight! Thanks for the idea!

Ekaterina Adnodvortseva and children Vanya 4 years old. 8 months and Nastya 3 years old. 3 months, Moscow.

Daniel and dad made a kite. The process was simple. Found a description online. Sawed off two sticks right size We fastened them perpendicularly with electrical tape and pulled a fishing line around the perimeter.

We had a very large ball, dad cut out a suitable piece from it. We connected the sticks and this piece, also with the help of electrical tape. A fishing line was attached to the three upper corners and connected everything together. A fishing line on a reel was tied to the resulting center. The tail was made from strips of fabric. There was a lot of joy. Tomorrow dad is at home, they will launch.

Lyudmila Shatalova and grandson Daniel 5 years 2 months with dad, Israel.

Didali friendly company from three friends. It is so joyful for my daughter when we not only work with her together, but also with her girlfriends. She herself says to me: “Mom, let's make a snake when Polina comes to us!” It is very important for children to do things together, to be able to negotiate in the process of work, to give in somewhere ...

Then they merrily launched kites on the stadium field: squealing, delight, running around! And other children looked at us with interest!

It is very interesting for us to participate in the Ecological Expedition. That's just the process sometimes remains behind the scenes. We were so busy making kites that I forgot to take a picture. Yana is at the table after a walk, and on the table is her kite and the remains of a tail (she later made a cat toy out of them).

Larisa Fedotova and daughter Yana, 6.6 years old, Barnaul, Altai region.

We made a kite out of cardboard paper and ordinary threads. Ilya often makes something himself, some boxes with secrets, recently he made a multi-colored cocked hat. This always makes me happy children's creativity. The most interesting thing is that I did not tell Ilyusha that I wanted to make a kite with him. I come home from work, and he started making a kite. Our desires coincided in an amazing way.

Tired of boring walks?

I made a kite with my son Ilyusha yesterday, he did not fly fully, but it was still fun to run with him. And in the evening I bought a ready-made kite, let's try to run it.

Kite "Penguin"

Creation and launch process:

Batalov Roman, 8 years old, Kirov

We made a kite from improvised means: to make a frame, we used a bamboo mat on which we pulled a piece plastic bag, cut out in the form of a rhombus. The tail is also made from the package.

Our kite was able to fly only to a small height (there was no suitable wind), but the children had fun - they ran after him like kittens after a bow! We will also try to fly a kite in windy weather.

Anastasia Zotova and sons Grisha 4 years old and Andrey 1 year old. 3 months, Vladivostok.

This is very simple model, but it is important for us that the son assembled it on his own from and to.

Timofey: “An amazing kite made of paper for drawing and mother's threads. It flies well in windy weather, but in zigzags. So I named him Zig Zigus."

Timofey Vernyaev, 7.5 years old, Meget settlement, Irkutsk region.

On the Internet I found the easiest way to make a kite. For several days I asked our dad to find us a couple of rails. As a result, after a couple of days, dad planed 5 slats for us))) The whole family participated in the process of creating the snake! Everyone was so interested...

It took only two slats to create the kite, but good things would not be wasted, and dad sat down to make another kite, and from the remaining slats, the eldest daughter decided to “cook” another one.

If you describe the creation process itself, then:

  1. They cut off the sticks - long 60 cm, short - 35 cm, folded them perpendicularly and fixed the cross with tape.
  2. The ends of the sticks were wrapped with adhesive tape and cuts a centimeter deep were made in them.
  3. A fishing line was pulled through these cuts, creating the outlines of a kite.
  4. They put the frame of the future kite on polyethylene (I took a regular bag and cut it, my husband took transparent polyethylene). We circled the snake with a marker, adding 1.5 cm on each side to the collar, and cut it out along the contour, wrapped the edges of the film inward around the fishing line and secured them with tape. The "body" of the snake is ready.
  5. Then they made a bridle and tied it to a long fishing line. Made a tail.

This is where the process of work of parents with children ended and began. creative process in children. They drew flowers, some patterns and put a clown and a bear on a kite so that they would fly (stick stickers).

The desire to take off and reach uncharted heights is inherent in each of us. And although, unlike birds, we cannot soar in the sky on our own, we are able to give the joy of watching free flight to ourselves and our children. Think we're talking about a plane ticket? And here it is not. We just want to tell you a few ways to make a kite. This simplest aircraft, made from improvised do-it-yourself tools, will give you a lot of positive impressions and emotions.

Did you know that the first kites plied the skies? Ancient China as early as the second century BC. e.? Today the art of building and running them is back in vogue. And every year, every second Sunday in October, World Kite Day is celebrated.

By the way, the hero of our today's article is sometimes called "kite" in a foreign manner. So, when you come across this term, don't be surprised.
And now it's time to do snake building.

The easiest way

Do you want to spend a fine day with fun and profit, watching how a kite made by yourself soars cheerfully in the sky like a bird? if you don't have experience in creating such aeronautical structures, we advise you to start your journey by assembling the lightest kite model. It is attractive in that it can be done without a complex drawing.

For work, you will need the simplest materials at hand:

  • tracing paper;
  • scissors;
  • wooden twigs or skewers about 60 cm long;
  • adhesive tape or electrical tape;
  • thick thread or twine.

Instead of wooden twigs, thin window glazing beads will do, and tracing paper can be replaced with plain paper (but remember that the lighter the kite, the better it will fly).

Fold the twigs crosswise as in the photo, fix the junction with a thread or a thin rope, lubricate it with quick-drying glue for strength.

Put the resulting blank on tracing paper and cut out a quadrilateral (well, you can’t call it a rhombus from the point of view of mathematics), for which the crossed sticks will be diagonals. Attach the twigs with adhesive tape to paper basis pay special attention to the corners.

Cut out a strip of tracing paper about 2 m long and 2 cm wide. Glue it around the perimeter of the quadrangle with adhesive tape.

Glue the intersection of the rods on both sides of the tracing paper with adhesive tape. With a nail heated on fire, carefully burn a through hole to fix the thread to the snake.

Pass the thread through the hole, make a loop and tie it around the cross. Remember that the loop must be with inside snake. Tie a thread, cord or fishing line wound on a spool to the loop (see how to make a spool at the end of the article).

The most important stage has come - decoration. Entrust this task to the child: he will independently decorate the craft at his own discretion. If you are collecting a test copy to study its flight characteristics, you can skip the design stage.

The simplest kite is ready. You can go outside to catch the wind and cheer yourself up.

Diamond shaped kite made of plastic bag

Want to make your kite more resistant to the elements. We suggest you use polyethylene as an improvised material. You will get it absolutely free of charge by cutting the old tight package. Another good option to give new life old things - take umbrella fabric. It is dense, light and does not get wet.

A little time, accuracy, strict adherence step by step photo instructions- and your kite will be ready to take off on its first flight. You will be convinced that conquering the expanses of heaven - exciting activity. Moreover, this version of the snake is more advanced than the first. He equipped with a bridle, making it easier to control.

original version

Who told you that a kite can only be triangular or diamond-shaped? Away with these outdated stereotypes. A little imagination and you can assemble a flying machine at home in the shape of a butterfly, flower or fish.

For work you will need:

  • thick flexible wire;
  • colored paper;
  • marker or pencil;
  • scissors;
  • glue stick;
  • thick thread and a piece of thin rope.
First of all, think over the scheme and size of your future creation. Draw a sketch on paper and think over the design.

And now it's time to bring ideas to life. Take cuts flexible wire and bend them according to your scheme. Wrap the ends of the wire tightly with thread, for a secure fit, make at least a dozen turns on each connection and tie a knot.

Put the blank on paper, circle it with a marker, leaving a couple of centimeters around the perimeter for allowances. Make notches on the allowances so that the edges do not wrinkle when bent.

Spread the remaining allowances with glue and glue to the base of the workpiece. You can make a kite out of paper or fabric in several colors. In this case, cutting necessary elements, do the same.

To strengthen the frame, tie with reverse side designs additional pieces of wire.

You can decorate the product with tissue paper or shreds of thin fabric, you need to glue them to the front side.

It remains to fix the cherished thread of control. In order for the kite to fly, it must be done correctly. Regardless of its size and shape, fasten the rope in 3 places on the frame on the back of the product. Next, tie its ends, stepping back from the center of the structure by 30 cm, and tie the thread.

Your own fantasy kite is ready to fly. Any child will appreciate such a toy. But he will get even more joy from launching his new pet if adults find time to teach him this art.

Rectangular kite

We present to your attention a master class for creating a rectangular flying kite.

Make it with your children and you will get a triple benefit:

  • give the younger generation the skills to work with your own hands;
  • show that reality is much more interesting than the virtual world of gadgets;
  • get a lot of pleasure from joint creativity.

Yes, there is a triple! You can list the advantages of such a hand-made for a long time, but it's time to proceed directly to manufacturing.

For work you need:
  • parchment paper, sheet 36*51 cm;
  • wooden sticks or light slats, 2 x 60 cm, 48 cm and 36 cm;
  • colored corrugated paper;
  • strong thread;
  • reel with fishing line;
  • glue stick and PVA;
  • a small metal ring;
  • scissors.
Fold the parchment sheet lengthwise, lining up the edges. This is necessary to outline the line of the middle. Along the top edge of the narrow side of the rectangle, place the smallest stick, stepping back from the edge by a centimeter. Lubricate the free edge of the sheet with glue and wrap it so that the stick is inside, it should be tightly fixed.

Lubricate a stick 48 cm long with PVA and glue to the center line of the workpiece.

Lay the remaining sticks along the diagonals of the rectangle.

Glue them with pieces of paper, as shown in the photo.

Cut out squares or arbitrary figures from colored paper and stick on front side rectangle.

On both sides of the intersection point of the diagonals, make a hole.

With pieces of thread, tie the ends of the sticks at the upper corners of the rectangle, pulling them together a little.

Tie a long piece of thread to the upper right corner of the kite. String a ring on the thread, it will help control the flying machine. Then thread the thread through the holes previously made in the center of the rectangle and pass it through the ring again. Tie the end of the thread to the upper left corner of the product.

Tie the end of the line tightly to the control ring.

Glue long strips of corrugated paper to the bottom of the kite. These "tails" will help him balance in the air currents. Them optimal size 5cm*2.5m.

The air wanderer is ready to surprise you with its flight characteristics. Good luck with your flight!

Cardboard coil for a kite at home

In order for the kite to proudly soar up, you need a very long thread or fishing line. Naturally, walking with an armful of thread in your hands is not advisable. For comfortable starting and control, a coil is used. You can buy ready-made, or you can make it from cardboard at home.

* Based on materials from eventor.ru

For work you will need:
  • corrugated cardboard;
  • glue gun;
  • scissors or cutter;
  • pencil;
  • ruler;
  • compasses (preferred but not required)
Draw a circle with a diameter of 20 cm. Cut out two such blanks from cardboard. Cut comfortable finger slits on them, they should match exactly on both circles.

Cut several strips 2.5 cm wide.

Mark the inner circle, use a compass or a suitable template.

Fold the cut strips along the contour of the cutouts, glue with hot glue.

Glue the inner ring in the same way.

Glue the second circle on top of it.

Glue the end of the long thread to inner surface spools and wind the thread.

So that it does not get confused, tie a match to its end, fix it with glue. Insert the thread into the slot on the outer ring.

With such convenient fixture your flying kite will conquer not only the sky, but also the hearts of your children.

Now let's talk about how to fly a kite correctly. For spectacular flights, you need to achieve maximum controllability and maneuverability of the product.
  1. Choose an open place to launch, otherwise, instead of enjoying the flight, you will have to take your kite out of the trees over and over again.
  2. Make sure the wind is blowing outside. Without it, you will not be able to launch your creation. The optimal wind strength when thin tree branches sway, and water goes ripples. If it is stronger, there is a risk of snake wreck. Then stand with your back to the wind and hold the kite in front of you. If it's built right, it can fly right out of your hands. Why not magic?
  3. Having problems with flight control? Check if the thread is attached to the bridle exactly in the middle. Failure to comply with this condition will lead to uncontrollability of the kite.
  4. The bridle is secure, but the kite lives its own life, completely ignoring your commands? Checking the tail. Try it alternately lengthen and weight. Increase the length, if this does not help, tie a weighting agent to the tail. It can be a paper bow or just a bunch of grass - use what is at hand.
  5. Is it hard for a kite to fly? Doesn't he want to gain height? Try lightening the tail. Get rid of excess decor or shorten it a little. But remember the golden rule: measure seven times, cut once.
Armed with our advice and detailed master classes you can get to work. A little practice - and a kite of any design, assembled with your own hands, will become commonplace for you. Do not be afraid to conquer heights and teach this to your children.
