Enamel EP-140

Surely everyone knows what corrosion is. Let's turn to Wikipedia, where we learn that corrosion is the spontaneous destruction of metals. This is a process that occurs due to the interaction of metals with factors environment But you may be surprised to learn that there are several types of corrosion! Without going into details, let's say right away that rust is the most common type of this process. In other words, corrosion is natural process: just like, for example, the life of animals, plants, and also human life is not eternal.

Unfortunately, it is not always possible to prolong the life of living organisms. But on the other hand, it is quite possible to extend the service life of objects and products, including metal. As you may have guessed, this can be done with the help of paints and varnishes.

The chemical industry has created materials with special properties: weatherproof, thermal and electrical insulating and, of course, anti-corrosion. As the name implies, the task of such materials is to protect the surface as much as possible from the effects of adverse environmental factors.

Enamel EP-140 stands out among such materials.

brief information about the application

This enamel is predominantly industrial use and is used outdoors. Enamel is designed to protect aluminum, magnesium, titanium, copper, steel surfaces, as well as alloys.

Detailed information about the appointment of EP-140

As a rule, enamel works in areas where protection metal surfaces really badly needed: shipbuilding (painting port equipment, as well as small boats), aircraft industry (painting of aircraft elements), railway transport and agricultural machinery. Enamel EP-140 is successfully applied to industrial equipment.

Buy enamel ep-140 at favorable price you can with us.

Main properties and characteristics

Enamel is available in several colors, but in order to get a silver tint, you must additionally purchase PAP-1 or PAP-2 powder and add it when mixing the components.

It distinguishes:

  • high strength and hardness of enamel ep-140;
  • resistance to water, industrial oils, gasoline;
  • silver enamel coating - heat-resistant, withstands temperatures up to 250C.

What is good about this enamel? EP-140 forms a hard coating, which makes the surface resistant to the effects of various climatic zones, water, precipitation, chemical substances, oil products, gases, vapors, oils. Enamel also withstands impact high temperatures(up to 250С). All this is achieved by the presence of a hardener, which is added when preparing the enamel for application. To enhance the effect of the enamel, we recommend pre-priming the surface.

Appearance

After drying, EP-140 enamel forms a uniform, smooth surface without foreign inclusions, a small shagreen is allowed. Some enamels (dark red, yellow, blue, dark brown and black) are allowed to have minor pockmarks and a small rash. The enamel forms a class II semi-gloss finish.

Available colors

Dark red, orange, yellow, ivory, dark green, blue, sky blue, light gray 500, light gray 583, dark brown, protective, light protective, tobacco, light tobacco, dark gray, gray , bluish gray, silver, black, white.

Application

However, first of all, we will tell you how to prepare the surface. At the first stage, it is necessary to clean it, remove traces of the old coating, degrease and prime. Then determine whether the enamel should be thinned - in case it has thickened. To do this, you will need R-5 solvent. Do not forget to add the hardener that comes with the enamel to the enamel and mix the composition. To obtain a silvery tint, add aluminum powder. The composition can be applied with a brush, roller, and also by pneumatic spraying. It is desirable to apply at least 2 layers of enamel - for each of them you will need 70-90 grams per 1 square meter. The drying time of one layer is approximately 5-6 hours. If it is possible to dry the surface by hot drying (at 90°C), the drying time can be reduced to 2 hours.

When working with enamel, remember that it is toxic and flammable. Be sure to use personal protection methods - gloves, a respirator, and when applying by spraying - a protective suit.

4. TEST METHODS

4.2. Preparing for the test

Conditional viscosity, mass fraction of non-volatile substances and the degree of grinding are determined in the enamel semi-finished product.

To determine the rest of the indicators, the enamel is prepared by thoroughly mixing the semi-finished enamel of the corresponding color with the components specified in paragraphs. 1.4 or 1.5, dilute to working viscosity according to clause 1.6 and apply with a paint sprayer on plates prepared in accordance with GOST 8832-76, sec. 3.

Before application, the finished enamel is kept in a closed container for 30 minutes.

Color, appearance of the coating, time and degree of drying, elasticity of the coating in bending, resistance to static effects of water, oil and gasoline (nefras) are determined on plates of black tin (GOST 13345-85) with a size of 20X150 mm (when determining elasticity in bending) and 70X150 mm (when determining other indicators) with a thickness of 0.25-0.32 mm.

The hiding power of the enamel and the hardness of the coating are determined on glass for photographic plates sized 9x12-1.2 (TU 6-43-0205133-03-91).

The impact strength of the coating and heat resistance are determined on plates made of steel grades 08 kp or 08 ps (GOST 16523-89) with a size of 70X150 mm and a thickness of 0.8-1.0 mm.

To determine the color, appearance and hiding power, the enamel is applied until the surface to be painted is completely covered.

To determine the time and degree of drying, hardness, bending elasticity, resistance of the coating to the static effect of water, oil, gasoline (nefras), the enamel is applied in one layer.

To determine the impact strength of the coating and heat resistance, the enamel is applied in two layers.

Before hot drying, the plates are kept at a temperature of (20 ± 2) ° C for 30 minutes.

The single-layer coating is dried at a temperature of (90 ± 2) 'C for 2 hours. The thickness of the single-layer coating should be 20-25 microns.

With a two-layer coating, each layer is dried at a temperature of (90 ± 2) ° C for 2 hours. The thickness of the two-layer coating should be 40-50 microns.

4.1, 4.2. (Revised edition, Rev. No. 2).

4.3. The color and appearance of the dried enamel film is determined visually in diffused daylight.

The control of the color of the enamel film is carried out by comparing the color sample prepared for testing with the corresponding samples of the card file of standards or with approved samples of the color of the EP-140 enamel.

(Changed edition, Rev. No. 1),

4.3a. (Deleted, Rev. Lay 2).

4.4. Mass delu of non-volatile substances is determined according to GOST 17537-72. Drying of a sample weighing (2.0 ± 0.2) g is carried out in an oven at a temperature of (100 ± 2) ° C for 2 hours.

(Changed edition, Rev. M 2).

4.6. The resistance of the film to the static effect of water is determined according to GOST 9.403-80.

Before inspection, the samples are kept in air for 2 hours at a temperature of (20 ± 2) °C.

(Revised edition, Rev. No. 1).

4.7. The resistance of the film to the static effect of oil and gasoline (nefras) is determined according to GOST 9.403-80.

For testing, aviation gasoline is used according to GOST 1012-72 or nefras (C2-80/120 and SZ-80/120) according to TU 38.401 - 67-108-92 and oil according to GOST 21743-76 or GOST 982-80.

After testing in gasoline (nefras), the plates are dried with filter paper.

After removing oil and gasoline (nefras), the plates are kept in air for 1 hour and inspected.

The film should be unchanged.

(Revised edition, Rev. No. 2).

4.8. To determine the heat resistance of enamel ZP-140 of silver color, the plates with the dried film are placed in a thermostat at a temperature of (85 ± 5) ° C and the temperature is gradually increased to (250 ± 5) ° C.

After holding at (250 ± 5) °C for 3 hours, the plates are removed, cooled to a temperature of (20 ± 2) °C and visual inspection is carried out.

The film should be unchanged. Color change is allowed.

(Changed edition, Rev. Lk 1, 2).

4.9. Determining the shelf life of enamel

To YuO g of semi-finished enamel add hardener No. 2 or No. 4 according to paragraphs. 1.4 or 1.5 and mix thoroughly until a homogeneous mass is obtained. Then the enamel is diluted to a viscosity of 12–14 s in accordance with clause 1.6 and left in a jar with a tightly closed lid for 6 hours at a temperature of (20 ± 2) °C. After the specified time, the enamel is thoroughly mixed again and the viscosity, color and appearance of the film are checked.

In this case, the viscosity of the enamel should not differ from the original by more than 3 s, the appearance and color of the film should meet the requirements of this standard.

(Revised edition, Rev. No. 2).

5. PACKAGING, LABELING, TRANSPORT AND STORAGE

Submit an application

Enamel EP-140- This is a two-component suspension of dye, fillers, plasticizer, hardener in an epoxy resin solution. P-5A or a mixture of acetone, xylene and ethyl cellosolve (30:40:30), 646, 648 is used as a solvent. It is intended for painting steel, copper, titanium, aluminum and magnesium alloy surfaces. It is also possible to apply enamel on acrylic, polystyrene, plastic or epoxy construction. EP-140 enamel is widely used in machine building, aircraft building and some other industries. National economy. The area to be painted must be carefully primed, for which you can use primers of the following brands: VL-023, AK-069, EP-0199, AK-070, VL-02.

Epoxy enamel EP-140 is produced in different colors(basic, according to GOST 16, but it is possible to manufacture other colors) and for each of them the number of components in the preparation of the paint is different. For example, yellow, dark red, black and protective shades require 70 parts of enamel base and 30 parts of hardener, for the rest - 75 parts of enamel and 25 hardener. As for the silver paint, 11 parts of aluminum powder of the PAP-2 brand (fine powder) are also added to it. The degree of grinding (except for silver coatings) - 40 microns. The proportion of non-volatile components (by weight) - 34 - 61%.

The advantages of the special epoxy EP-140 are its resistance to atmospheric phenomena (snow, rain), moisture, gasoline, oil, chemical detergents, mineral oils. After applying this paint and varnish product to the metal, the likelihood of developing a process such as. Silver enamel EP-140 has a rather high heat resistance (at least 3 hours at a temperature of 250 °C). Category B2 indicates that this paintwork material can be used in all climatic zones. The only exception is the Far North.

There are several methods for applying protective epoxy enamel EP-140: pneumatic spraying, pouring or painting with a brush, roller. Before each of them, it is necessary to carefully prepare the surface to ensure maximum durability and durability of the paint. To do this, the area to be painted is cleaned of dirt, scale, rust, old protective coating and must be degreased. You should also make sure that the enamel is prepared correctly, thoroughly mixed throughout the entire volume of the container (this will take at least 10 minutes), its mass is homogeneous. And the most important thing to remember is that EP-140 enamel is viable for at least six hours after its preparation.

It is recommended to apply at least 2 layers, and each subsequent one not earlier than 4-6 hours after the previous one, that is, after complete drying (subject to an ambient temperature of +20 °C). Hot drying the coating will reduce the curing time to degree 3 in just two hours. The consumption of EP-140 enamel is 50-120 grams per square meter, while the layer thickness should be 20-25 microns. The type of coating after complete drying of the paintwork material is a homogeneous semi-gloss. Covering power - about 130 - 150 g/m 2 . When bending, the elasticity of the film does not exceed 2 mm.

When working with EP-140 epoxy enamel, it is necessary to adhere to safety measures, since it is flammable and toxic. Painting should not be carried out near open fire. Gloves should be used to protect hands. To protect against enamel fumes, it is necessary to use a respiratory mask.

Enamel EP-140 is stored in rooms protected from light, moisture, direct sunlight.

Shelf life - one year from the date of production.
