Fabric bread box. Master class: textile bread box with funny lambs. paper tube product

There are many options for bread bins, and even more ways to decorate them. On our website, we have already told you more than once how to decorate a bread box at home. But this master class is about how not only to decorate a bread box, but to make it yourself completely, from beginning to end. This is a textile bag. And it is very good if the color and texture of the fabric is combined with hot pot holders, or with overall design kitchens. By the way, when choosing a fabric, remember that natural coarse fabrics are in harmony with bread products: linen, cotton. Silk, wool and synthetics are not a good choice.

Our bread box is a very cute handmade craft. What does she need?

For work you will need:

piece of cotton fabric measuring 36 x 72 cm;

a piece of thick cardboard or plastic measuring 36 x 24 cm;

4 m of braid 2 cm wide;

threads according to the color of the braid;

5 plastic bags;

fitting pins;

sewing machine;

Bread making technique

A square with a side of 18 cm and 4 rectangles measuring 18x6 cm are cut out of a piece of cardboard. Each piece is put into a plastic bag, excess material wrapped to one side and secured on all sides with tape.

Cotton rectangle folded in half front side out. In the middle of the canvas, markings are made with chalk under the bottom of the bread box - they outline a square measuring 20 x 20 cm.

The braid is cut into 8 pieces of 50 cm each. Each strip is folded in half in length and ironed. The braid goes around three edges of the fabric part (one of them is uncut), leaving the free ends of the braid of the same size on both sides of the product.

The strips are pinned to the material with fitting needles, marks are placed with chalk at a distance of 8 cm from the corners of the square, the distance between the marks is drawn. Then the corners of the product are wrapped with ribbons, leaving the same tips on both sides. The braid is stitched on a sewing machine.

Photo (left) - fabric detail

Between the two layers of the canvas, a far (from the unstitched side) cardboard side measuring 18 x b cm is inserted and three sides of the inner square outlined in chalk are sewn. Insert a piece of cardboard measuring 18x18 cm and build up the fourth side.

Three remaining cardboard sides are placed on the sides of the fabric square. The braid is pinned and attached to the last side.

The ends of the braid are tied with bows, having decorated the voluminous corners of the bread box.

Your handmade bread box is ready. She has one drawback - if you store bread in it in open form, it will dry up, because we have a bread box open type, no top. To prevent this from happening, store bread in it wrapped in plastic or paper bags. If you are an opponent of open bread bins, you can sew the same textile cap on top, which is based on cardboard. Or cover with a napkin from the same fabric. However, you can make a textile bread box a little differently - with a sewn-on woven top, which is tightened with a cord (like a bag). You can sew a bread box in the form of a basket, or you can make it decorative - for example, in the form of a chicken. See photos of similar breadbaskets below. In the same place in the photo you will also find breadbaskets made using the technology described in our master class.

DIY bread box- the ability to add a unique item to the interior of the kitchen. This is also a tangible cost savings, because there is no need to go to the store in search of the right product. Handmade accessory - a great opportunity develop your creative abilities, as well as get an item that has no analogues. Breadbasket can be made from different materials: wood, fabric, paper, plastic. It all depends on the preferences of the person and the materials that are available.

Do-it-yourself bread box made of wood and plywood

A do-it-yourself bread box made of wood and plywood is a unique item that will serve for a long time and delight your loved ones. appearance. As suitable material it is best to use boards 10 mm thick, obtained from wood species such as oak, linden, birch, ash. Additionally, it is worthwhile to prepare fasteners, a handle and rails in advance, which will be useful for creating a flexible cover for the product.

The principle of making a wooden bread box is extremely simple:

  1. From the selected board, you need to cut out two sidewalls, the top bar and the bottom. It is important to consider the dimensions, doing everything in accordance with the drawing.
  2. A semicircular groove is created on both sidewalls, which will ensure the normal movement of the flexible cover. For this job you will need a cutter. If it is not there, an alternative option may be a drill on which a finger cutter is installed.
  3. The resulting parts are interconnected using the selected fasteners - screws or self-tapping screws. You can also use high quality glue.
  4. The lid is made by gluing wooden slats onto a fabric base. Alternative option- insertion of cords along the two edges of the rails.
  5. Inside the bread box should be left without any coating, and on top it can be interestingly decorated. The easiest option is to use varnish or linseed oil. You can also look at more interesting methods of decorating - burning, decoupage, painting.

More affordable option could be plywood. This material is also suitable for creating a breadbasket. The manufacturing principle is the same wooden product. The only difficulty is the more difficult processing due to the fact that the edges of the plywood can peel. But the problem is easily solved if you act carefully and slowly.

Do not use to create a wooden bread box conifers trees. They have a pronounced woody aroma that will drown out the smell of bread. And also when creating wooden structure you can make sure that its door can be used as a board. And the cover of the product can become a kind of shelf.

Bamboo models for the home

Bamboo models of bread bins for the home will become not only a decor, but also a functional design. Production takes only a couple of hours, which also becomes an important advantage. It is important to prepare the required tools and materials in advance. Required:

  • bamboo napkins;
  • cardboard;
  • scissors;
  • self-adhesive;
  • pen;
  • the cloth;
  • pencil.

The dimensions of the future bread box directly depend on the dimensions of the napkin. The cardboard will become the body of the structure. Its side parts need to be slightly rounded, which will subsequently ensure a smooth fit of the door and ease of opening.

All parts are glued together with ordinary glue. From the inside, it is recommended to finish the product by means of self-adhesive. This will also increase the strength of the cardboard. The final stage- directly bamboo finishing. To do this, the napkin should be cut into two parts so that one of its components repeats the size of the bottom, and the second - the door.

Attention! If you wish, you can choose your unusual decor, and then the bread box will be truly unique.

How to make a bread box out of fabric?

How to make a bread box out of fabric? Very simple. Finished construction will help decorate any table, becoming an extraordinary piece of decor. To create you will need:

  • a sheet of cardboard of the selected size in the shape of a square, recommended - with sides of 27 cm;
  • cuts of cotton fabric, the size of which is 1-1.5 cm larger than the dimensions of the cardboard;
  • iron;
  • ruler;
  • chalk or soap;
  • pins;
  • braid;
  • scotch.

Two pieces of fabric must be folded with the right sides together. It is necessary to sew them together, leaving one of the sides unsewn. It should be a kind of bag. It is turned right side out. Insert a sheet of cardboard inside. Now you can sew the last side.

Inside the product, you need to draw a square, retreating from the edges of 7 cm. To mark the boundaries, you can use chalk or soap. The resulting square should be stitched manually or on a typewriter. Now you need to connect the corners together with pins. You should get a product that looks like a bowl. The fabric bread box is ready.

If desired, you can make a rectangular tray. The algorithm of actions is the same, only the shapes of the pieces of fabric and cardboard differ.

You can also create a round bread box out of fabric and cardboard. Here there are some clarifications in the process of creating the sides. The algorithm is the following:

  1. Cut out two circles from fabric and one from cardboard.
  2. Put the cardboard blank between the wrong sides of the fabric and sew the canvases together.
  3. Along the edges at an equal distance, it is necessary to sew 12 pieces of braid in pairs. There should be 2-3 cm between two paired elements.
  4. Now it remains to tie the paired elements of the braid together.
  5. It turned out a beautiful basket for bread.

Attention! You can use any kind of fabric, including wool blanks. The form can also be any, it is enough to first think over the principle of binding or create a drawing of the future product.

Bread tray from plastic bottles

Tray for bread from plastic bottles- a unique piece of decor and an easy-to-use thing. Everyone can make such a bread box, especially if you follow the advice given in the master class. Required:

  • an empty bottle of 5 liters, for example, from under the water;
  • newspapers;
  • dry peas;
  • PVA glue;
  • big coin;
  • acrylic paints of selected colors;
  • napkins;
  • acrylic lacquer;
  • scissors;
  • glue gun;
  • brushes;
  • marker.

Initially, you need to cut off the neck and bottom of the bottle. The workpiece must be divided into two parts. To do this, it is placed on its side, marked from below 8 cm and cut horizontally. The bottom of the product must be cut in half and cut out two semicircular rings. These parts are glued on both sides of the main one. You can use tape for this.

Newspapers are cut into small pieces. PVA glue must be diluted with water so that its volume has approximately doubled. Newspaper strips are dipped into the resulting composition and one of the halves of the workpiece is pasted over with them. It is necessary to make two layers outside and inside the product. The resulting paper surface must be covered with PVA glue again on both sides using a brush.

The remains of the neck are cut off from the upper part of the workpiece, since it is not necessary. Further, the element is pasted over with newspapers in the same way.

After the parts of the bottles in the newspapers have dried, they must be glued together. This can be a glue gun. In this case, the lower part is positioned so that it can stand, and the upper part is glued on top. In other words, if you turn the product over, it should stand on improvised legs, which became top part bottles.

The edges of both parts must be made wavy. To do this, you can use a coin, which is gradually shifted, outlining with a marker. Then, along the resulting contour, the excess is cut off. After that, you need to go around the edges with glue and glue thin napkins in several layers. You can twist the tube of napkins and carefully glue, creating an openwork layer.

As a decor, halves of peas are used, which are glued along the edges. You can also draw patterns on the product or glue ornate paper tubes. The final stage is painting the product. You can make a bread box in one color, and decor elements in another.

paper tube product

Product from paper tubes It turns out very beautiful, and its creation is quite simple. Among the necessary components are the following:

  1. Magazines or newspapers.
  2. Thin stick.
  3. Tray with sides.
  4. Clothespins.

Attention! For creating decorative item newspapers can be used. However, if you plan to actively use the created element, you need thick paper without dyes.

The first stage is the creation of paper tubes. To do this, a sheet of a newspaper or magazine is wound around thin stick. Subsequently, it goes, and the tube twists more strongly. Similarly, you can make several dozen tubes at once, so as not to be distracted later. If you have experience folding paper tubes, you can do without a stick.

Weaving begins with a lid. To do this, six tubes are placed side by side. Two more are placed on top, and the third is used as a fastener. With its help, you need to wrap all the tubes at the place of fastening crosswise. Next to the fixed ones, two more tubes are placed and fixed in the same way, as well as two more.

Now it remains to weave further, but you need to act in a circle, that is, braiding in succession six tubes previously fixed. For convenience, you can attach the workpiece with clothespins to the tray. When the size reaches the dimensions of the tray, it is necessary to braid it, moving smoothly up to get the sides of the bread box.

At the end of the weaving process, you should get a bread box. Do not make it very high. The edges should be fixed as follows: the tubes are woven into the bottom of the structure, further strengthening it. A little experience - and you can even create interesting patterns on such products.

If you wish, you can try your hand at weaving from birch bark. The principle is similar.

birch bark product

The product made of birch bark looks very impressive. If everything is done correctly, a solid design can hardly be distinguished from a store-bought one.

Initially, you need to understand how to properly prepare this material due to its specifics:

  1. Wood harvesting should only be carried out in permitted areas.
  2. You can collect the bark during the period of sap flow, then it is considered the most pliable.
  3. Drying of birch bark should be carried out in natural conditions. The use of various heating appliances or fans are not allowed.
  4. At the end of drying, you need to get rid of bumps so that the birch bark is smooth on both sides.
  5. Now you need to put the material in boiling water and continue boiling for half an hour.
  6. The final stage is drying.

If everything is done correctly, you can proceed to creative process- creation of a breadbasket from birch bark. The material is carefully cut into strips using sharp knife. It is these ribbons that will be used for weaving crafts. Interestingly, earlier this type of weaving was called a “rug”.

There are two possible options weaving:

  1. An even number of stripes are laid horizontally, which are intertwined with each other through one, starting from the left edge. The second tape in this case will be mounted vertically in a checkerboard pattern relative to the first. The third strip will completely repeat the amplitude of the first.
  2. The fundamental difference lies only in the fact that the edges of the previous strip are bent to the next. You can additionally use wire, increasing the flexibility and hardness of the finished product.

24 strips of birch bark will be enough for a bread box. Half of them will be used for horizontal and the other half for vertical. Once the body is finished, the corners are formed. They should be located between the 5th and 6th tape.

The final touch is a spectacular lid for the bread box. Its height should not exceed two strips, but should not be less than one. To make the subject interesting, you can decorate the edge of the lid with cloves.

Important! Birch bark is famous for its bactericidal properties. This will allow the bread to stay fresh for a long time, and also eliminate the appearance of mold on it.

Decorating Ideas

Decorating ideas - an opportunity to make the breadbasket brighter and more interesting. Add decorative elements You can use carving, painting, veneer or engraving. Designs with numerous monograms look spectacular. At home, the following decor methods are most available:

To get inspired to decorate the structure, you can see photos and videos of the work of other masters. Bright Ideas will help to make the breadbasket original. You can also ensure that the box fits into a specific interior style.

If you have basic sewing skills, we suggest you make a textile bread box or candy box. A handmade bread box will perfectly decorate the table in your kitchen.

The kitchen is considered to be the heart of the home. Any man will agree with this, but a woman already spends most of her time in the kitchen. Therefore, it is so important that everything in the kitchen is arranged rationally and thoughtfully. And comfort in the kitchen is created by little things dear to the heart: napkins, tablecloths, coasters for dishes and a kettle, towels, potholders, sweets, bread boxes, etc.

How to make a do-it-yourself textile bread box with dimensions of 200x200x70 mm

Materials:

  • any cotton fabric, two squares 370x370 mm;

  • plastic 2 mm thick or thick cardboard: bottom 180x180 mm, 4 sides - 180x60 mm;

  • scotch;

  • threads in the color of the fabric;

  • a piece of chalk;

  • ruler;

  • tailor's pins;

  • household sewing machine;

  • iron;

  • ironing board.

The preparatory stage for the manufacture of breadbaskets

  1. Paste the cardboard parts on all sides with adhesive tape;
  2. Press seam allowances 15 mm on the wrong side on all sides of the fabric parts;
  3. Make a marking with chalk on the stitching of the bottom of the bread box (Fig.), Square 200x200 mm.

Mounting

  1. Fold the fabric parts on top of each other with the wrong sides inward, equalizing the cuts;
  2. Sew 3 sides according to the 200x200 markup, insert a cardboard bottom, stitch the fourth side;
  3. Sew with a zigzag (or straight) stitch the edges of the bread box with an overlay seam with closed sections. You can insert cardboard sides in advance and use a one-sided foot or perform the operation in stages: first stitched the edge, then inserted the cardboard (and so on three sides, the fourth side will have to be stitched with the cardboard already supplied).
  4. Put chalk marks on all sides at a distance of 60 mm from each corner;
  5. Connect the marks, forming a voluminous corner of the bread box, and fasten manually with a backstitch bartack. You can sew ties from thin ribbons to the marks, even at the stage of stitching the sides, and then form a three-dimensional corner by simply tying them. Also protruding "ears" can be turned inside the bread box.

Other Master classes from the rubric

We know that pompoms can be made from wool. The process of making pom-poms from T-shirts is similar to wool and quite simple. However, we invite you to familiarize yourself with detailed photo master class.

Do-it-yourself bread box made of wood: drawings and dimensions.

I wanted to have a wooden bread box for our family.

It’s just that they still couldn’t get it: either there weren’t any on sale, or the money was more needed at the moment when the bread box could be bought for something else.

Then I decided to make a bread box myself - while becoming adept at carpentry and save money at the same time.

Plus, it turned out to be interesting.

How I made my own bread box

Used as material for the breadbasket

  • planks of hardwood from crates thrown out of the grocery store.

He carefully sorted out the boxes, and stacked the boards in a pile near the radiator.

After about a week of drying with hand planer more precisely, he adjusted the edges of the boards to each other and, smearing them with PVA glue, rallied three or four pieces into small shields.

He tied the boards in the shields with a cord, and put the shields on a flat table on top of each other and pressed down with a pile of heavy books.

The next day (after work) I planed the surfaces of the shields with a planer and, having marked the contours of all the details of the bread box, sawed them out with an ordinary (children's) manual jigsaw. At that time we lived in a private apartment.

The hostess came and warned that she would be evicted for noise and rubbish. On other evenings, I had to finish the breadbasket secretly and quietly.

Assembling a bread box for glue and nails

I assembled the details of the bread box into a single structure on PVA glue and with the help of small nails. After the glue had dried, all joints and surfaces were carefully “sanded”. The blind-door of the bread box was assembled from lamella-rails with a section of 15 × 10 mm on two pieces of nylon fishing line.

To pass the fishing line in each rail, I drilled two holes. To attach the curtain to the bread box, I also drilled two inclined corresponding holes in its lid - inserting the ends of the pieces of fishing line into them, I tied them tightly.

After that, I attached a handle (with glue and carnations) to the door, and to the bottom, legs, skids. Even at the bottom, inside the bread box, I installed a grate made of the same rails as the curtain. In conclusion, the outside covered the bread box with a colorless varnish.

Breadbasket made of bamboo napkins and cardboard

We sew two bamboo napkins.

So, for a bread box with your own hands it will come in handy cardboard box Or just cardboard. It is better to take a large format, but, of course, it is better to build on your own wishes.

The main thing that required size bread fit.

You can process the sides of the cardboard at your discretion - you can apply original drawings and you can make applications.

Simple and good decision- Attach pieces of the fabric you like with a stapler.

This should be done carefully, in the most remote edges, without pulling the fabric. But for the lid, you will have to buy a thin bamboo stand for hot dishes - it not only has the ability to acquire the necessary shape, but also keeps the temperature well, which means hot bread will remain so in the breadbasket for a long time.

You can attach the stand for the bread box with your own hands to the glue, to the top of the products. But in order for it to lie down correctly and gradually, falling down, the cardboard must first be cut in a rounded shape at the top.

How to decorate a bread box with your own hands

Cut out one square piece with a side of 90 cm from each fabric. Fold them with the wrong sides and draw fold lines along the calico at a distance of 30 cm from each other (see diagram). Round corners. Lay the lines along the lines marked with the numbers 1, 2 and 3.

Step 2

Cut out 5 square pieces from the foam rubber with a side of 29 cm. Insert one of them in the middle of the workpiece (between lines 1 and 2).

Step 3

Stitch along line 4. Pre-fold the edge of the foam inserted between the fabrics and pin the top and bottom sheets together to clear the seam line. Insert the rest of the foam parts into the square "pockets" of the workpiece. Also fold the edges of the foam rubber (at the outer edge of the base parts) and chip off the fabrics. This will allow you to easily process the edge of the bread box.

Step 4

Cut out the bias tape 5 cm wide by cutting it "along the bias" (at an angle of 45° to the longitudinal thread). Fold it in half lengthwise, iron the fold. Fold both edges inward (by 1 cm) and iron the trim. Insert the cuts of the base parts into the inlay, baste and topstitch along the front side of the product with a seam to the edge.

Step 5

Cut out 2 pieces of 28 x 51 cm valve from the rag, rounding one short side of the rectangle. Fold them with the wrong sides and stitch with a seam 0.5 cm from the edge, leaving the short sides unstitched. Trim the rounded edge with bias tape. Put foam rubber inside the valve (at the end of the "rounding") and fix it with a transverse stitch so that it does not move.

Step 6

Close the unstitched edge of the valve with twill tape, sewing it with a double stitch on the folded allowance. Leave 25 cm of tape free at the ends - for ties. Cut 16 pieces of 25 cm from the tape and sew them on the edges of the bread box (see marks in diagram 1). Tie the ties in pairs. Tie the valve to one of the sides of the bread box - to the ribbons of the lower level.
