Making a multifunctional fishing line from a PET bottle. How to make a rope from an ordinary plastic bottle Do-it-yourself rope from plastic bottles

As an economic person, I was hooked by the topic of getting a rope from plastic bottles. Cool thing, from unnecessary plastic bottle to get a fairly strong rope (more precisely, PET tape), which is free and is the only way spent on the farm, and many make all sorts of crafts out of it, and not only decorative ones. PET tape still has heat shrink properties, which allows you to make strong connections and minor repairs, for example, he fixed his wife's mop and his chair. Sometimes it replaces the irreplaceable blue electrical tape 🙂
Summer is coming, and you may need such a free rope in household purposes. Moreover, the shrink tape (rope) is very easy and simple to get from an unnecessary plastic bottle.

I'll start by using the resulting PET tape from the bottle. Wangyu that in the first comments they will insert a video of Lawyer Egorov, whoever has not seen it, I recommend watching it, and this was the beginning of my acquaintance with PET tape. I will describe where I personally used it, and who else when used PET tape, add in the comments, it's interesting.

In the apartment:
Repaired the mop - metal pipe cracked and parted in the type of joint, I had to wrap it with a strip from the bottle and wrap it with PET tape and seat it on gas stove turned out neat and solid.
He repaired his chair - wrapped it well where it cracked and seated it with a lighter. Saving blue electrical tape! 🙂
Classic - handles on pliers, wrapped and seated.
Instead of adhesive tape, he packed the wires in bundles, tied cardboard boxes around. Sometimes the tape ends at the wrong time.
The pipe was flowing - the tap under the thread cracked, took rubber glove I cut it into a tape, wrapped it tightly, then wrapped it with PET tape, waited for the plumber and he had already turned off the water in the house and changed the tap.

Homestead:
There is not a plowed field, parallel to the garden twine, something to tie, tie, hang, pull, even used it instead of nails when it ran out - I made a temporary greenhouse. They cleaned a young garden, made stools in a couple of minutes to rest, dragged branches and logs with an impromptu thick rope made of PET tape, in any case easier than with hands.

I like to go to the forest for picnics and just spontaneous walks with a company:
The bottles themselves were brought with water and or other liquids, they were emptied and used. Hang a washstand from the same bottle from which you got the tape, tie stools or even benches and chairs, pull up an improvised awning from a raincoat or polyethylene film, collect and carry branches and logs easier with a rope. While fishing, I set up an impromptu sun tent from a bedspread - I forgot my umbrella 🙂 . Garbage naturally clean up after themselves.

In short, I don’t fanatically run with PET tape for overweight, but I use it where there are unnecessary plastic bottles and no ropes, or it’s not rational and pitiful to spend a normal rope, and PET tape will solve these problems. I don't do mountain climbing with this kind of rope. Waste household rope which is not a pity, that is also heat shrink and reuse plastic.

It is easier and faster to get a rope out of a plastic bottle using a fixture or tool such as a bottle cutter. I will dwell on it in more detail.

I got infected with the idea after the video of Advocate Yegorov. But he didn’t make his bottle cutter, like other options from corners, washers, meat grinders, bars and pipes, etc. I don’t have a workshop and a garage, I don’t have such materials and tools, the meat grinder is electric, I’m too lazy to make them and I don’t need a machine for cutting bottles. Therefore, I decided not to repeat it, but to make it even simpler, the most important of available materials and more compact (manual) in order to cut bottles into ribbons at the place of application of the rope. I made many variants of bottle cutters, ranging from mini and micro to an ax bottle cutter. In order not to tire, I will demonstrate the simplest ones, to choose from ...

The very first was a bottle cutter from a pencil sharpener. It is done very simply - unscrew the blade, turn the blade over, insert it into the sharpener a little at an angle, screw it on without fanaticism and you're done. Well, 20 seconds max. It is advisable to use aluminum pencil sharpeners, although I have already seen pictures on the net with plastic sharpeners, the blade was soldered into the case with a soldering iron.
I immediately noticed that a sharpener in hiking is not a bad tool - you can easily get tight chips from a dry stick and use it as kindling for a fire or even tinder. Therefore, this option began to be positioned for me as a marching, light and compact. And the modernization of this bottle cutter started, sharpening for hiking - cuts on a screw to unscrew with a coin and use the blade to prepare the bottle (the knife is no longer needed), for convenience, I added a mini knife to the sharpener body and additional cuts to get ribbons different widths. It's cool, but moving towards complication, although it turned out to be multifunctional and most often I use it and am satisfied.

Two sections of a clerical or construction knife. The bottle itself is prepared with this blade, a bottle cutter is made from a bottle cap, and this blade almost replaces a clerical knife if necessary (to open a parcel, etc.), and is compact in itself. I made a simple envelope out of a bottle and threw it in my purse as a NAZ, now a small household blade is always with me.

It is better to use this option, a little more complicated but also more convenient to use.

And for dessert - bottle cutter scissors. Just scissors and the bottle itself, that's all. We prepare the bottle with scissors, remove the ring from the neck, the guide is placed from the ring and then we cut the tape, you just have to see it. Scissors preferably sharp and without play. If there is a backlash and bites the bottle, then you need to pull the tape on top of the scissors.
Tested on small scissors (Swiss knife), not very convenient and flimsy, but it works. The test on the secateurs (the lower half with notches) failed, but there are secateurs and like scissors. I also changed the width of the resulting tape, the fishing line and did not try to cut it, but the width was 2mm, the preparation of the bottle is important. The principle itself is very working and can be developed - instead of a ring from the neck, use other materials.
Cool way.

When designing these bottle cutters, I was guided by the following principles: the use of available materials, simplicity, ease of manufacture, repeatability, and cutting at an angle.

The bottle cutters provided in this post are manual (they are not machines), respectively, when used, they require some experience, skill and safety measures. You can cut yourself on paper, not to mention the tape, and it is very painful and unpleasant and not necessary. Try to work with gloves, carefully, safely, etc. The quality of the cut is greatly affected by the preparation of the bottle, for wide belts you need a smooth start, although the bottle cutters will still align the tape but you will get a piece with waves. It is recommended to pull the tape trying to press it a little against the blade, so the bottle is pressed against the stop more strongly and is directed to the grip by the blade, it turns out more accurately.

I don’t have such obvious preferences for choosing bottle cutters, I use what is at hand at the moment and with less fuss - usually an improved sharpener, scissors, blade or knife and lid, if I find a meat grinder, then it will do. Demonstrated for review the most simple, repeatable and compact. I think you will find a sharpener, a clerical knife, scissors, gloves, a bottle and quickly get a ribbon from a bottle, and you do not have to go to hardware stores for a rope. There are many other different bottle cutters on the net, from simple ones to machine tools.

Total
An unnecessary plastic bottle can still serve as a PET tape (rope) and heat shrink.
Naturally, you should not treat this with fanaticism, but it’s also useful just to know that this is possible and PET tape from a plastic bottle is very easy to get, it can help out.

A rope from a plastic bottle can help out in an unforeseen situation, on a picnic or on a hike. She will become indispensable assistant gardener: the cord is often used to tie vegetables and trees, creates a support for climbing plants. You can make such a ribbon using special device or a utility knife. A bottle cutter, if you have one, will help you make strips of plastic quickly and with more convenience than with a blade. To get started, you need to cut off the bottom from the usual container and upper part leaving only the plastic cylinder.

Options for using bottle rope

People who often use plastic bottle rope know how versatile material. It can be used in everyday life and to create various crafts. A rope made from a plastic bottle is great for fastening rebar during construction works and compares favorably with metal wire due to the absence of an oxidation reaction. Another advantage of this material is its low cost, in contrast to special clamps for tying iron rods.

Using plastic tape in needlework

Another option for using the product: braiding tool handles. This allows you to isolate the surface of the handles and prevent slipping. This method works better than using electrical tape. A cord from a plastic bottle allows you to carry out repairs and make furniture for the garden. The transparent rope firmly fastens the parts of the products together and does not spoil them appearance. Another type of bottle crafts is baskets and handbags. Cords are used to create original and durable containers, containers and various decorative items for interior decoration.

How to make a rope making machine

To facilitate the process of making a rope from a plastic bottle, you need to make special machine for cutting thin strips. There are several ways to create such a product. In the first variant, two necks from ordinary bottles, the edges of which should be sharpened, and a regular CD. The necks are attached to the disk with glue, and the machine itself is fixed on the table using the usual wide adhesive tape. And you can also use iron blanks and fasten them to bolts to wooden surface- this option will last longer. Before starting work, the bottom of the bottle is cut off sharp knife, then you need to separate a small tail from the bottom, place it between the sharpened parts of the necks and turn the bottle in the direction of the cut. The fishing line will begin to separate from the container. For convenience, it is better to roll the resulting strip into a skein.

Corner machine

For the next option, additional materials will be needed. They can be purchased at hardware store Or look in your closet. The base of the machine is a duralumin corner up to 30 cm long, a blade from a construction or clerical knife. To fasten them, prepare a thin metal rod, screws and nuts. Of the tools, a drill, pliers and a hacksaw for metal will be used. At the first stage, several holes are drilled in the corner according to the size of the screws used, and the knife blade is screwed on one side. Above it you need to make slots through which the plastic tape will pass.

Cuts are processed sandpaper so that no burr remains. The width of the tape depends on the size of the holes, so you can cut holes different diameter to make cords for different types of work. From the side of the knife, you need to make an emphasis from the curved metal bar so that it does not bend during operation. In another hole, a handle made of a thin rod is attached. It is not very convenient to hold such a tool in your hands for a long time, because experienced craftsmen use to secure it teski, which increases the speed of work.

Making rope from plastic bottles

Having fixed the machine, the beginning of the tape is separated from the plastic cylinder and inserted into one of the slots, and the workpiece itself is hung on the handle. Then it is enough just to pull the end of the rope, and the bottle will cut itself, in contact with the knife blade. The easiest way to store the resulting fishing line is on a reel from the wire. Plastic bottle rope is a free replacement for ordinary metal fasteners, fishing line and even yarn. Making it yourself is very simple, and the material is within walking distance in almost any area. In addition, plastic recycling is a concern for nature and the environment.

What distinguishes a survivalist from an ordinary person is not camouflage, supplies and a warehouse of knives in his pockets. The differences are primarily at the level of thinking. A common person looks at the thing and uses it according to generally accepted stereotypes. And the prepper looks and thinks How can it be useful to me?". And this applies to everything - even ordinary plastic bottles.

The methods of their application are very diverse: both water purification and construction material, and much more. But our friend Fedor Stepanov(he has repeatedly shared with us his cunning know-how, for example, making from an army bowler hat) discovered another effective application- from PET bottles you can make extra strong line-rope. And he not only came up with how, but also shot a video about it. What follows is the text and words of the author.

This video is about making fishing line from a plastic bottle. Not ribbons, but ropes. PET tape is good for everyone, but it has a number of restrictions on its use.

To make such a rope, we need a bottle cutter, a screwdriver and a building hair dryer. bottle cutter deserves special attention, thanks to its inventor, lawyer Egorov ( this comrade also did - we also have such an article. Note. editor), a link to the video on its manufacture in the description.

First, we cut the tape from an ordinary plastic bottle. The thickness of the line being made depends on the width of the tape being cut, the thicker the line, the wider the tape you use. Then one end of the cut tape must be fixed, for example, in a vice, and the other end must be clamped in the screwdriver chuck. We stretch the tape and begin to twist it into a rope. The tape must always be kept taut. If you let go, the tape will unravel. Now let's take a building hair dryer and heat the tape along its entire length. Due to the tension force, the heated area folds into a neat spiral, and when it cools down, it will no longer unravel. One piece of advice - don't overheat. Polyethylene fluorophtholate easily vulcanizes and loses all of its beneficial features. Please note: in order for the weaving of the rope to be uniform, during the manufacturing process, the tape must be periodically twisted. Everything, fishing line but ready.

If there is an urgent need, then you can do without a hair dryer and a screwdriver. Using, for example, any stick as a crank, and a lighter or a torch to heat the PET tape. But, it is better to use a more technological tool. Empirical observations have shown that the rope can be made from several layers of PET tape, such a rope is more elastic and stronger, but much thicker.

Now a few words about the application of such fishing line. As you guessed from the name, this line is perfect for trimmer lawn mowers and mulchers. The cost of industrial woods is high, but here you get it almost free of charge and in unlimited quantities. In addition, the store may not have the right type of size, but with my method you can make any. The fishing line is much stronger than PET tape of the same width and can withstand much more load. And thanks to the cylindrical geometry and rigidity, it easily fits into eyelets, grooves and sleeves. I am sure there are many applications for such a rope. From being used as underwear to making bowstrings and guitar strings. Share your ideas on the use of fishing line-rope in the comments.

Quite a long time ago we came across a video on the net, which told how to make a rope out of a plastic bottle, or rather get it by cutting this bottle pretty original way. Why such a rope was needed was still not clear, but here is an example of recycling plastic bottles, which constantly appear in incredible quantities in every home, I was very pleased.

And now the time has come when they not only improved the “tool / machine” for cutting rope from a bottle, but also began to come up with ways to use the resulting “product”.

To start about the device that cuts the bottle on the rope:

The design has already been improved and allows you to easily cut a rope from a bottle - you only need the design itself (having small dimensions and ease of manufacture), a bottle and one free hand. Besides, new design The bottle cutter allows you to cut tapes of different widths (from 1 mm to 1 cm) without rearranging the blades.

What is needed to create such a bottle cutter?

Trim of a corner or channel (corner with a wall thickness of 2.5 mm),
- blade from a clerical knife,
- 2 nuts M5,
- M5 hairpin or a piece of wire,
- a wooden block-strut.

In the trimming of the channel, it is necessary to drill a through hole for the M5 bolt so that this hole coincides with the mounting hole of the clerical knife blade. Then, stepping back from drilled hole to the width of the nut, make cuts (quite thick) in the corner of different lengths. The depth of cut will limit the width of the tape.

It remains to collect the bottle cutter. To do this, put a blade into the channel, and, aligning the holes, thread a hairpin into them (see video - the hairpin is bent in the direction of the slots) or wire. And, if you have a channel, spread the walls of the channel with nuts, and if it is a corner, then clamp one of the walls of the corner with nuts.

To cap the other end of the blade, insert a wooden spacer into the bottle cutter. That's all. It does not even have to be fixed in a vice or on another support - this is a manual bottle cutter.

When you stretch the tape, try to pull in the direction of the bottle - otherwise the tape breaks in just a few centimeters.

Here are some ways of application ropes from a plastic bottle have already been invented:

The thinnest tape (1 mm) can be used on the donk,
- wind the handles of hammers, axes and other tools,
- create reliable detachable connections,
- fasten/repair parts of garden furniture,
- knit reinforcement for the foundation,
- have a lot heat shrink rope for various business needs,
- weave baskets and bags,
- weave lampshades,
- etc.

And finally, an idea came to mind that made me go shopping to buy parts to create a “design for cutting a bottle”, since it became obvious why we specifically need this rope.

FOR THE FENCE.
Of course, a temporary fence, but so necessary during the development of the site and the only possible one for the period of building a house and other more important matters: there will still be time and money to build a “serious” fence around the site. Often, by the way, there is no need to enclose all the available land: one thing is a plot at the house, another is a large garden in the village.

So, back to the fence. What is this fence, where can I apply plastic rope from a bottle? Imagine a wicker fence different types which we often meet in "thematic" villages, parks, various natural ennobled tourist places. They look beautiful, the material for them is affordable (branches, sticks), and during life in the village it is free (at the same time it will be possible to clear the thickets along the already non-existent village street, and clean the swamp, and the abandoned garden and ... in general, the material for the construction there are a lot of fences without difficulty). There remains only one concern - how to securely fasten these "fence details" together so that you do not have to constantly patch it.

Here a rope from a plastic bottle will come to the rescue. How to apply and strengthen it (securely soldered) is also shown in this video.
When heated, the tape is compacted and shortened. The author of the video heats it up with building hair dryer. So it turns out free, very durable and detachable connection almost every detail.

All that's left is to get down to business! And no screws and nails that would have done the same task with a much less reliable result. A loop made of pet tape withstands monstrous loads, does not rust / does not rot, it will not shift or slip, it is not a pity to spend it, and it is easy to get it at any time, moreover, completely free of charge.
