It has very beautiful white flowers, up to 4 cm, located on long peduncles. Dolomite bell is torn off because of it decorative look, as well as its number is sharply reduced due to the laying of roads and other construction work in the place of its growth.

Dactylorhiza spotted

Dactylorhiza spotted (or speckled) - belongs to the orchid family, is found on the territory of Russia in the European part, but very rarely. In May-June, purple flowers bloom on racemose inflorescences surrounded by spotted leaves. Powder from dried tubers has an anti-inflammatory, enveloping, tonic and softening effect.

Gastrodia high (pot-bellied)

This is an extremely rare perennial plant from the orchid genus. Gastrodia is on the brink complete disappearance, so it has long been listed in the Red Book. She is interested in her unusual view: its stems reach 1 meter, while they do not have leaves. It blooms with beautiful large flowers collected in brushes, the length of which reaches 15-20 cm. In autumn, fruits appear - boxes filled with seeds.

Slipper large-flowered

Lady's slipper, lady's slipper, lady's slipper - all these are the names of one plant. This orchid can still be found in Siberia, in not dense coniferous or birch forests. The flowers are very attractive. locals collect them for bouquets, dig up roots for further cultivation in their areas.

Krasodnev yellow

Violet incised

One of the most beautiful flowering plants. This violet with beautiful flowers, which adorn purple corollas, grows in meadows and coniferous edges. It can also be found on the banks of rivers or rocky slopes. This flower is propagated by seeds that do not ripen every season. Therefore, the plant has become very rare and is listed in the Red Book of Russia.

Incredible Facts

How many rare, disappearing and disappeared beautiful wild flowers in the world. The reason why these flowers bear such a title is that a person often cannot live in complete harmony with nature.

For example, he builds dams, dams that impede the movement of a particular river.

As a result, specific frogs or fish species are also limited in movement, as a result of which a particular bird species does not get the food it needs in the right amount and does not pollinate desired flower which eventually leads to the extinction of the plant.

This is just one of the scenarios for the development of events, of which there are actually many, since history is filled with hundreds of similar cases. Regardless of what makes them a rare species, the plants below are extremely rare, so not everyone gets the chance to see them.

10. Emerald Vine Flower (Strongylodon macrobotrys)

The emerald vine flower is a rare type of woody vine that grows in native tropical forests Philippines. This plant belongs to the legume family. The flowers of the plant are collected in large brushes, hanging from vines, which can reach a length of about three meters. The color of the flower can vary from blue-green to bright saturated green. They are usually pollinated the bats however, it has proven to be very difficult for the species to reproduce due to habitat destruction and a decline in natural pollinators.

9. "Corpse" flower

8. Smolevka (Silene Tomentosa)

This plant is especially rare and is found only on the high cliffs of Gibraltar. The flower was considered extinct by the entire scientific community back in the 1980s, however, specialists from the Gibraltar botanical reserve found that several specimens still live in nature. Unfortunately, by 1992 all traces of the plant had disappeared and it was declared extinct. In 1994, one specimen was discovered by a climber on inaccessible rocks and the species was brought back to life. He was "multiplied" in laboratory conditions and the seeds were planted in botanical garden Gibraltar and the Royal Botanic Gardens in London.

7. Franklin Tree (Franklinia alatamaha)

This tree is part of the "tea" family, however, it is the only representative of its kind, as well as a very rare flowering plant. The tree was native to the Altamaha River Valley in Georgia, however, since the early 19th century it has been declared extinct in the wild. In fact, today we only know about this tree thanks to the Bartram family, who were avid gardeners and grew it to extinction in the wild. A miniature tree plant that blooms with white flowers, and whose leaves turn bright red in autumn, is currently popular. ornamental plant. All "examples" of the tree that exist today come from one of the plants grown by the Bartram family.

6 Pigeon Beak (Lotus berthelotii)

This is beautiful flower It received endangered status in 1884. It is believed that in the wild it has completely disappeared, however, it is possible that a few individuals still survived. This amazing plant grew in the Canary Islands, and was originally pollinated by insects that have long since died out. This probably explains the rarity this plant. Experiments have been carried out to find new pollinators for the plant, but since 2008, not a single new flower has appeared in the wild. The pigeon's beak, however, is grown by gardeners, so if desired, anyone can take possession of this beautiful plant.

5. Cosmos "chocolate" (Cosmos atrosanguineus)

This Cosmos plant, which ranges in color from red to brown, is native to Mexico. Unfortunately, it was thought to be extinct in the wild for over a hundred years. Today, the species survives in the form of one infertile "clone", which appeared in 1902 as a result of vegetative propagation. The flowers of the plant grow to about 3-4 cm in diameter and have a color from dark red to brown. AT summer period they smell like vanillin, which also makes it a wonderful ornamental plant.

4. Koki (Kokai cookei)

This is a very rare tree found in Hawaii. It was discovered in 1860, since then only three of its specimens have been found in the wild. It was very difficult for the tree to spread, and by 1950, after the death of the last tree, it was considered extinct. In 1970, the only specimen left in the wild was discovered, which, unfortunately, burned down in 1978. But, fortunately, it was possible to save one of the branches of the tree, which was grafted and from which 23 trees planted in different places in Hawaii. Koki is small tree, which grows to a height of 10-11 meters, its peculiarity lies in the fact that hundreds of bright red flowers grow annually on an adult tree.

3. Yellow and purple lady's slipper (Cypripedium calceolus)

This is an extremely rare type of wild orchid found in Europe. The only specimen of this orchid in the UK, which was previously very common, has now been under strict protection since 1917. The cuttings of this orchid sell for $5,000, however, the plant is extremely difficult to propagate. Its seeds cannot feed on their own, so they often live in symbiosis with a certain type of fungus that provides it with the nutrition it needs until the leaves of the plant are able to feed themselves. There are many types of Venus slipper which are very rare. This particular type has dark purple or red stamens surrounded by bright yellow colored petals.

2. Spirit Orchid (Epipogium aphyllum)

The spirit orchid is a very rare plant that was considered extinct for almost 20 years, only recently "raised its head" again. The plant is so rare, mainly because it is extremely difficult for it to reproduce. The plant does not have leaves, it does not depend on photosynthesis, it does not feed itself. As with the lady's slipper, this orchid needs close contact with the root system of a special fungus to nourish it. The orchid spirit never grows leaves, so it is dependent on the fungus throughout its life. This plant can grow underground for years without showing any "signs of life", and will bloom only when all conditions are created for this. This explains why some enthusiasts have been looking for this flower for many years.

1. Middlemist red (Middlemist camellia)

This is the rarest flower in the world. To date, only two specimens of this plant have survived. One of them is in a garden in New Zealand, the other is in a greenhouse in the UK. The plant was originally brought to Britain from China by John Middlemist in 1804. Since then, it has not been found anywhere else in China. In the UK, the flower remained barren for many years, and only recently have flowers appeared. The flowers have a bright pink color and are very similar to roses.

Flowers are the remnants of heaven on earth. It is said incredibly accurately, because it is precisely these wonderful plants able to once again remind people how beautiful our world is. But it’s a pity that flowers fall into the category of the rarest at the suggestion of people who reduce their habitat or simply destroy them.

Middlemist Red

This is a subspecies of camellia, a pale pink shade, somewhat reminiscent of a rose. The rarest flower in the world, miraculously saved from extinction. In 1804, the Englishman D. Middlemist brought a plant he liked from a trip to China. Later it turned out that this is the only specimen and it was possible to germinate new ones from its seeds. Middlemist blooms only a few weeks a year.

Until today, the flower remains an endangered species and can only be admired on the monitor screen in two greenhouses: in the UK and New Zealand. Moreover, it is believed that the Polynesian specimen is a descendant Chinese flower, which Midlemist himself once sold to an unknown person.

Strongylodon Carpal

The green-blue branch with claw-shaped flowers has long been considered a rarity, although it is a common relative of our beans, from the legume family. The jade vine was discovered in the Philippines in 1937, and after 20 years it was cultivated with might and main in botanical gardens. In nature, it is pollinated by bats, hanging on bunches and drinking nectar, therefore, due to a change in their habitats, Strongylodon Kisteva can hardly be found in the wild.

Incredible claw-shaped flowers come in a variety of hues, from soft mint to deep green. Brushes reach a meter in length and can have up to 100 flowers. The jade vine glows in the dark to attract pollinators, so it's best to visit the botanical gardens in the late afternoon.

Psychotria sublime

A different name is common among the people, by analogy with the appearance of the plant, which I do not dare to repeat on the site. The flower grows in the tropical forests of Colombia, Panama and Costa Rica. The appearance of psychotria attracts butterflies and hummingbirds, and in addition, it also emits a slight sweet smell. Due to intensive deforestation, the plant simply disastrously quickly disappears from our planet, but it is easy to breed in artificial conditions.

ghost orchid

Other names - Polyriza, frog orchid. It grows and is protected by law in the territories of Cuba and Florida. These flowers do not have leaves, they practically lack chlorophyll, so they do not feed on photosynthesis, like other plants, but on a symbionite fungus.

Since there are no leaves, and the roots are indistinguishable from the tree below it, when the plant blooms, it seems that it is hanging in the air. But in fact, a thin stem smoothly turns into a root that wraps around dry wild palms, oaks and ash trees in swampy areas.

franklinia

A tea plant discovered 200 years ago in the Alatamaha Valley, Georgia. The family of avid gardeners - Bartam, cultivated it even before it disappeared from the natural environment (due to deforestation), and was named after a family friend - Benjamin Franklin. Franklinia has magnificent white inflorescences, and large (up to 15 centimeters) green leaves turn into orange-red in autumn. Moreover, a 6-10 meter tree continues to throw flowers even after the leaves turn red. All plants to date come from those bred by this American family.

Velvichia amazing

Relic plant, one of the rarest in the world. Its habitat is limited to a narrow coastal strip (up to 100 kilometers) along Atlantic Ocean in Namibia and Angola. The fact is that, growing in the Namib Desert, where there is practically no water, velvichia receives moisture from morning fogs (ocean evaporation), and the further it grows, the more difficult it is for it to do this.

Seeds are viable for about 2 years and are very hygroscopic - at the slightest sign of moisture, they absorb it all, to the drop through thousands of mouths that close in the heat. The leaves are hard, to the touch, like boards that you cannot scratch even with a nail. They can reach 8 meters in length, with a width of about a meter. Velvichia grows very slowly (up to 30 centimeters per year) and there are specimens with a lifespan of about 2 thousand years.

Gibraltar lychnis

This is a small flower, up to 20 centimeters high. Even 35 years ago, science considered this species of the clove family to be extinct, until in 1994 a certain climber discovered a plant in the rock while climbing. Thus, the lychnis had a chance for a second life. Now it is grown in the botanical gardens of Gibraltar and London.

Lyadvenets

A plant whose life hangs in the balance, native to the Canary Islands. Large and brightly colored inflorescences are incredibly reminiscent of the beak of the Nestor-Kaki parrot. Its second name is Lobster Claw. Of the 24 species, 17 are endemic (living in a limited area) and endangered species. They usually grow on coastal rocks, clinging to them with stems. Their natural pollinator, a bird from the genus of nectaries, was exterminated, and with the help of bees and other birds, pollination is unproductive.

Puya Raymonda

A plant of the bromeliad family, found at an altitude of 4 thousand meters in the Bolivian and Peruvian Andes. Interestingly, having appeared long before humans and outlived the dinosaurs, Puya Raymonda is now on the verge of extinction. Its habitat is incredibly small, and frequent fires and cutting down the plant (for wall insulation and for fuel) have been added to the threats to life.

This is one of the largest inflorescences in the world - on a 13-meter column with a diameter of 2.5 meters there are from 7 to 11 thousand cruciferous flowers, from which up to 12 million seeds are formed. But on stony and blown soils, only a few will give offspring, since the life of the seed is very short. The flower is able to protect itself - sharp spikes are located among the white inflorescences. Flowers, dying, acquire a purple hue. Puya seeds appear only after 80-150 years of life and, unfortunately, the plant dies after flowering.

We have to admit that it is obvious that most of the rarest flowers in the world will never be seen by people. Now the rate of extinction of flora and fauna is 100 times higher than ever in the history of the planet Earth. The more remarkable is the fact that the flowers can be seen on our website and enjoy their incredible view.

There are a number of unique and rare flowers in the world, scattered throughout the world, which have managed to attract the interest of both gardeners and botanists. These exotic and expensive flowers include all kinds of flora, revealing to our eyes how diverse and different evolutionary paths can be from each other. unusual flowers, which we will tell you about below, are sure to intrigue you and may even help you reconsider how well you know about the mysteries and oddities of the natural world. Today, this orchid is considered the rarest orchid in the UK, as well as the most expensive flower in this region.

14. Kokia Cookei

Kokia Kuka is considered to be one of the rarest endangered flowers in the world. It was opened in the 1860s in the western part of Molokai by Mr. Meyer. In 1970, one plant of this species was found in his residence on Molokai. It was thought to be the surviving remnant of a previously cultivated plant. However, in 1978, a fire destroyed the last remaining root of the Kokii Kuki plant. Fortunately, before the fire engulfed the plant, a branch was taken from it, from which it was later taken similar view Waimea Arboretum (Waimea Arboretum). Gibraltar Smolevka

This resin grows only on the high cliffs of Gibraltar and long time considered to be a completely extinct species. But in 1994, one specimen of this plant was accidentally discovered by a climber. Now the seeds of this plant are in the millennium seed bank, and the resin itself is grown in the Gibraltar Botanical Gardens and in the Royal Botanic Gardens in London.

This plant is native to the Canary Islands. Their only pollinators were nectaries, which have long since disappeared.

chocolate space

The birthplace of this flower is Mexico, for 100 years it has been considered extinct from wildlife. In our time, you can find only a barren species of this plant, which was bred in 1902. Its flowers are 3-4 cm in diameter and smell of vanilla in summer.

Feed the roots of the plant special kind fungus that attaches to the roots.

Yellow and purple lady's slippers

The species of this flower, which was previously widespread throughout Europe, is now a rare species of orchids. In 1917, several examples were found on a golf course in Great Britain. They are very expensive and the price for one of its processes reaches $ 5,000. The initial development of these shoes is similar to the development of ghost orchids: at first, the sprout that germinated through the seed needs a special fungus with which it feeds. And only after a while the plant begins to grow its own leaves.

Yutan Poluo

A unique find and discovery by a Chinese farmer. It happened while he was cleaning steel pipes. Yutan Poluo is a flower that does not need soil and grows on any hard surface. For a very long time there was such an opinion that it grows only in Buddhist temples on gold-covered Buddha statues.

corpse flower
