How to make a swing out of car tires. Children's hanging swing from tires for summer cottages. Original crafts from tires

When children appear in the family, the house is transformed. It includes highchairs, tables, walkers, wall alphabets, various toys and everything that kids need for development and games. Also, changes occur in the garden or in the country. There was a sandbox, an inflatable pool. It's time for the swing. Only now such "children's joys" are not cheap at all. The way out is to create a swing from a tire with your own hands. It is not difficult to make them, the cost of their manufacture is low. If you wish, you can make not one swing, but a whole playground.

Materials for manufacturing

For a standard hanging swing, the main element will, of course, be an old unnecessary car tire. It won't be hard to find her. R15 works best. Tires should be thoroughly washed before starting work.

To make the swing bright and the children were delighted with it, the tire needs to be painted with paint. You can dream up and decorate it funny. Spray paint works best, but regular paint will hold up well. Beyond the beautiful appearance, painting will help get rid of the unpleasant and persistent odor rubber.

For fastenings, cargo or U-bolts are needed. They should be fixed with large nuts. The tire will have to hang on strong ropes, ropes or chains.

It is also important what the swing will hang on. It can be either a branch of a tree in the garden, or a structure with a crossbar made of wood or metal. For such structures, strong beams or pipes are required.

Having prepared these necessary materials, in a few hours it is easy to make a hinged swing.

Product support

In the manufacture of a hanging swing, special attention should be paid to the strength and strength of its support.

If the swing will hang on a tree, then the branch must be strong, at least 15 cm in diameter. It should be located at a height of 2-3 m and be as even as possible. If this option is not suitable, then you need to make a U-shaped strong structure.

Or make a support, which is two vertical triangles without a base of beams connected at the top by a crossbar.

Dig holes first, at least half a meter deep. Pour gravel at the bottom. Insert into holes vertical bars and fill the void with rubble. Or fill the holes with cement. From above, fasten the beams with a crossbar.

The horizontal bar is fixed with large screws. Metal staples or screws with loops must be screwed to it, into which chains or ropes will be threaded. For a metal structure, the manufacturing principle is the same, but only fasten metal pipes need with a welding machine.

The support must be really strong and stable, because we are talking about the safety of children.

Hanging option

The most favorite swing for most children is a hanging swing, on which they can swing for a very long time. The first step is to choose a place where the swing will be located. Take into account the distance required so that the child can swing freely and nothing restricts this process. A step-by-step description will help to make such a swing.

You will need:

  • old tire;
  • 4 eyebolts or 4 U-bolts;
  • 6 nuts;
  • metal chain, rope rope or strong rope;
  • prepared swing support;
  • drill.

The tire on the swing will be located horizontally. Therefore, in its side part, you need to make holes with a drill and attach four bolts.

We pass a rope or links of chains into the loops. We strengthen well. Determine the length of the rope or chain. It depends on the height of the support and the height of the child. Keep in mind that children will have to climb it on their own.

We hang the swing to the support. Fasteners with loops should be attached to the crossbar. We thread chains or ropes into the loops and fix them well. Hanging swing is ready.

From the tire, you can form different seats and make the swing more comfortable and interesting. For example, weave and fasten the straps on top. Then the child will not fall into the hole in the tire. Or, cut the side of the half of the tire, and bend the whole part, and this will form a comfortable seat with a back. great idea will cut a horse out of a tire. The photo below clearly shows how to do this.

Swings

You can also make rocking chairs out of tires. They can be for one child or for two. The difference is only in the number of places and handles that you need to hold on to. A single swing resembles the rocking horses beloved by children.

To make a rocking chair, you need a tire. It needs to be cut into two parts. Choose a board whose length will be equal to the diameter of the tire. Insert a plank into the cut of the tire and attach with screws. Screw a long board to it from above. The top board should be well sanded and smooth so that the children do not rot the splinters.

Having measured the seats for the children, attach the handles. It may be long door handles, you can make them out of rope or make them out of wood in the form of a steering wheel. It would be nice to attach cushions to the seating areas. The advantage of such a swing is that it can be moved to any comfortable spot or store indoors in winter.

In a selection of videos, you can see how to make different swings from tires with your own hands.

If you want your children to spend more time outdoors, then you should think about how to make this stay more interesting. Hanging a tire swing is a great way to give a second life to an old unwanted car tire, and at the same time make something fun for your kids that will be fun for years to come. All you need is some equipment and a little know-how, the most important thing is to think about the safety of your children, making the perfect swing out of the tire.

Steps

Making a simple tire swing

    Find a suitable old, unwanted tire. Make sure it is relatively clean and still in good enough condition to not tear under the weight of a person.

    • The larger the tire, the better, but up to a certain point. Although you need the children to have more space to sit in a tire, a really huge tire will be especially heavy and can weigh so much that a normal tree branch can't support it. Use your common sense to find the perfect balance between size and weight for a particular tree branch.
  1. Clean the tire. Rinse thoroughly with good detergent, scraping all outer surface and washing its inside. If the dirty tire is well cleaned, then it can be used.

    • Use WD40 (water displacing agent) or tire cleaner to remove stubborn dirt stains. This tire will sit on it, so the cleaner the better. Make sure you also remove any remaining cleaning agent!
  2. Find a suitable branch where you can hang your swing. The branch itself should be thick and strong, at least 25 cm in circumference. Make sure the tree is healthy and large, with no signs of weakness indicating instability. Freestanding maple or oak is usually best.

    • The branch you choose will affect the length of rope you will need. Suitable size for a tire swing, the length will be about 2.7 meters from a strong branch to the ground.
    • The branch should be far enough away from the tree so that the swing that you hang does not immediately hit its trunk. Although you should not hang the swing at the very end of a branch, you should place it no closer than a meter from the trunk.
    • The higher the branch, the higher the swing will swing. So if your swing is meant to be small child, then you may have to look for a lower branch.
  3. Buy a rope. Take about 15 meters of rope. It must be of high quality so as not to rub or tear under the weight of the load.

    • There are many types of rope you can use, such as high strength climbing rope or regular rope, although you can use a chain if you like. On a simple tire swing, a galvanized chain will last longer, but the rope is easier to hang, it will cause less damage to the branch, and it will be easier for children to hold on to it.
    • In addition to the quality of the rope, abrasion can be prevented by using covers in areas that are most prone to wear (where the rope touches wood, tires, and where it will be touched by hands).
  4. Drill some drainage holes in the tire. Since it will hang during rains, water can collect in the inside of the tire if the surface is without holes. To avoid water pooling, drill a few holes in the tire where the base will be.

    • Carefully drill through the tire. There may be metal threads inside it that you can break when drilling. Just be prepared for the fact that you can drill through different layers.
  5. To hang the swing, use the ladder. Make sure it is secure and won't topple under you. It makes more sense to have a friend hold it while you climb.

    • If you do not have a ladder, then you will have to look for another way to hang the swing on a rope. Find a roll of duct tape, or something similar in weight, and tie it to the end of the rope. Then throw this roll over the branch so that the rope loops around it. Once this happens, untie the rope sticky tape, or whatever you used as a drop weight.
  6. Throw the rope over the tree branch. This must be done so that it is not erased by knots or any irregularities of the branch. You can wind the rope around the branch several times, it just needs to be fixed in one place.

    • If you have a cover, this part of the rope should be covered with an anti-abrasion cover on all sides (where it touches the branch).
  7. Secure this end of the rope to the branch with a sea knot. Make sure the knot is strong. If you can't do it, find someone who can.

    • If you loop the rope around a branch from the ground, you will have to tie a slipknot off the ground and pull it to move it under the branch.
  8. Tie the other end of the rope around the top of the tire. Again, use a sea knot to secure the rope to the tire.

    • Before tying a knot, think about how far off the ground your swing should be. The swing should not touch any obstacles on the ground and hang high enough so that the child's feet do not touch the ground, about 40 cm should remain to the ground. On the other hand, they should not be so high that the child himself could not reach them. Make sure the bar is at this height before securing the knot.
    • Remember that the drainage holes should be at the bottom, opposite the holes should be the top of the tire.
  9. Cut off excess rope. Tie the end of the rope up so that it does not get in the way and does not come undone.

    Level the ground under the swings if you like. Add soil or dig up the ground to make the surface softer for landing in the event of a jump (fall) from the swing.

    Check the swing. Make sure they swing well. Before you let others swing, check your handiwork with the observer, in case something goes wrong. If all is well, you and your kids can start rocking.

    Making a horizontal swing from a tire

    1. Find the right tire. It needs to be relatively clean and in good enough condition so that the sides won't pull apart under the weight.

      • You can pick up any size, but remember that the larger the tire, the more it weighs. You will want the kids to have plenty of seating space in the tire, but very big tire may weigh too much for a normal tree branch.
    2. Clean the entire tire. Rinse it thoroughly with a good cleaner, scraping everything inside and out.

      • You can also use a tire cleaner.
    3. Determine a suitable branch on which you can hang the swing. It should be thick and strong, about 25 cm in diameter, about 2.7 m high from the ground.

      • Make sure the tree is healthy and large, with no signs that indicate it is unstable or has a dead core.
      • Make sure that the place where the swing will be located is far enough from the trunk so that the swing does not hit the trunk. This means that you need to hang the swing at a distance of about a meter from the trunk.
      • The distance between the branch and the swing also determines their height. The longer the rope, the higher the swing will swing, so you should choose a lower branch if you are making a swing for a small child.
    4. Purchase materials. You will need to purchase three "U" clamps and two matching washers and nuts for each side of the clamp. In other words, you will need four nuts and four washers for each U-clamp. In addition, you will need about 3.5 meters of rope, 7 meters of good quality galvanized chain, and an s-hook large enough to hang three links of chain on one end.

      Drill some holes in one of the tire sidewalls. This side will become the bottom of the swing. The holes will help drain any water that will collect in the inside of the tire when it rains.

      • Be careful when drilling holes in the tire. There may be metal threads inside it, which you will also have to drill.
    5. Put the ladder under the branch. Make sure the place is safe and the ground is solid.

      • It's best to have a friend help you hold the ladder for stability.
    6. Throw the rope over the tree branch, then fasten the ends together. Tie the branch several times before tying the sea knot.

      • You will need to hang the s-hook from the rope below the branch. Lock it around the rope so it doesn't slip off the hook.
      • Make sure the knot is strong. If you don't know how to knit knots, ask someone to do it.
    7. Separate the chain into three parts of the same length. You need to decide on the length by deciding what the height of the swing will be. Measure the distance from the hook to the height you think the top part tires. This will be the length of each of the three parts of the ropes.

      • The bar should be high enough so that your child's feet do not drag on the ground, and be approximately 40 cm from the ground. However, it should not hang too high for the child to climb onto it on their own.
    8. Hang one end of each of the three parts of the chain from the hook. Close the hook by closing it with the clip so that no part of the chain slips out of it.

      Mark and drill holes for the U-clamps. Make sure you place them evenly spaced on top of the tire before drilling holes in the sides for each clamp.

      • You will need to place the clamps so that they are close to the outer edge of the tire, along the circumference, not across. The outer edge of the sidewall is the strongest part of the sidewall and will ensure that the tire does not lose its shape when hung.
      • Remember that the drainage holes should be at the bottom of the tire, that is, on the opposite side of the holes for the clamps.
    9. Pass each part of the chain through one tie. Make sure the chain is not twisted at the top.

    10. Attach the clamps to the tire. Have someone help you so that you can do it. Place one nut and washer on each side of the clamp before threading them through the holes towards the inside of the tire. Then fasten the washer and nut onto the threads on the inside so that the side of the tire is sandwiched between the two nuts and washers.

      • If you don't have a helper, just place the tire on something so it's high enough to secure the clamps. If your tire is overly heavy, whether you have a helper or not, the stand idea will come in handy.

Modern children prefer TVs, computers and fancy gadgets to useful walks and games. And to make them fun on fresh air more interesting and exciting, you can create for them with your own hands various crafts for the playground. One of the simplest options for decorating a play corner is to create a swing from old tires. It is both simple and economical, and gives the opportunity to give a second life to worn-out car tires. But before decorating the site with crafts, we build a sandbox according to the scheme.

Tire swing for playground for children

The easiest way to get a beautiful front lawn

Of course, you have seen the perfect lawn in the movies, on the alley, and perhaps on the neighbor's lawn. Those who have ever tried to grow a green area in their area will no doubt say that this is a huge job. The lawn requires careful planting, care, fertilization, watering. However, only inexperienced gardeners think so, professionals have long known about the innovative tool - liquid turf AquaGrazz.

In order to make a high-quality and durable swing from a tire, you need to choose the material with great care. Products of foreign manufacturers are well suited for this, since domestic tires are too hard, they are difficult to cut and bend. The experts also point out that winter tires more pliable than summer, so to create unusual figures it's better to take one.

To make it comfortable to ride on a swing, the diameter of the tire must be large, but too huge products from tractors will not work - even the strongest branch cannot withstand their weight. In this matter, you will have to rely on common sense and your own sense of proportion. You can also check out this important point like decorating a playground.

Variant of a rubber rocker for children

And, of course, the rubber itself must be strong and durable, because children will ride in it, whose safety comes first.

Rubber preparation

Before creating crafts for the playground, you must carefully prepare the selected tire. To do this, it must be checked for damage so that it can accurately withstand the weight of an adult.

Next, it must be thoroughly washed from dirt, because children will sit on the finished swing, and the cleaner they are, the better. Used for washing conventional means for dishes, but ideally, you should take a WD40 liquid that displaces dirt and water from the pores of the material. Tires are cleaned from the outside and inside, after which the remains of detergents are washed off with water.

To prevent rainwater from collecting inside finished product drainage holes must be made in the bottom of the tire.

The choice of the basis for the swing and fastening

Tire swings are often hung from a branch in the garden. For the safety of the child, the tree and branch should be chosen very carefully. The tree itself should be mature, but not old, without visible flaws and lesions, of sufficient height. The branch should ideally be located at a height of 2.5-3 meters above the ground, there should not be other branches under it that interfere with the movement of the rope. In principle, the swing range of the swing itself depends on the height of the attachment, so for young children it makes sense to attach the rope to lower branches, and as they grow older, use their higher counterparts.

Select all necessary tools for making a hanging rocker

The thickness of the base should be at least 25 centimeters, it is better to choose a branch on which there is about a meter from the trunk flat area, bounded on the sides by other branches - if you fix the rope in this place, the rope will not be able to slide to the sides. A distance of 1 meter from the trunk allows you not to worry that the child will hit it while swinging, but you can’t cling fasteners close to the edge of the branch - this way it can break off.

A rope is quite suitable for fixing crafts from a tire, because rubber does not differ in weight. But it must be strong, durable and wear-resistant, special climbing varieties will do. To extend the life of the rope, it is recommended to cover the rope with covers in places most often affected - around the branch, near the attachment to the bar, in areas where children take it, this will reduce the rate of fiber destruction. In any case, the ropes used in the outdoor playground need to be replaced every 2-3 years.

The rope is thrown over a branch in a selected place, tied with a sea knot, and the ends are later tied to the product itself. At the end of the work, the excess ends are cut off so as not to interfere with the children. If desired, you can use chains, they are more durable, but they injure the tree more.

Video of making a simple swing from wheels

Making various types of tire swings

Consider the manufacturing process various types car wheel swing:

Vertical swing

The easiest way to make a place for kids to play with your own hands is to hang the tire vertically, as in the photo. For this you need:

  • choose a strong, durable tire of medium diameter;
  • on one side, screw the eyebolts with your own hands - self-tapping screws with hooks on the cap;
  • to them to tie the ends of the rope, previously tied to the branch, chains can also be used, they must be fastened with carabiners;
  • install the tire at the right height, it depends on the height of the child, on average, about 40 centimeters should remain between the bottom edge and the ground, so the baby can independently climb onto the structure and safely jump off it;
  • drill drainage holes in the bottom of the wheel so that the water that gets inside immediately pours out;
  • test the swing for strength;
  • if necessary, level the soil of the playground under the structure.

The process of making a rocking chair

Horizontal swing

From a strong small tire, you can make a simple comfortable rocking seat. For this:

  1. Select and wash a suitable tire.
  2. With the help of eyebolts, make fasteners for a chain or rope on the flat side, if desired, you can make four or three supports, in the first case, wheels are screwed under two bolts on both sides at the same distance, in the second - with angles of 120 degrees on an equilateral triangle. The attachment points must be carefully calculated, because otherwise the finished swing will constantly warp.
  3. Attach ropes or chains to the base.
  4. Connect them to the hooks on the wheel, hanging it parallel to the floor.

In such a simple "armchair", made by oneself, not only children, but also adults will be happy to ride. If you want to choose something unusual for your dacha, then we offer you an original do-it-yourself swing.

Cradle

More complex structure, which will decorate the playground. In addition, if you have a sharp shoe knife, making it yourself is a matter of a couple of hours. In addition to this option, we make a hanging chair from other improvised materials. You will need:

  • cut off the upper edge of the tire with a knife, leaving the rim intact;
  • on top of the received “handles” with the help of bolts with your own hands, attach brackets for attaching ropes or chains;
  • fasten the ropes on the brackets strong maritime knots, trim the remaining ends;
  • check the seat for strength.

Tire chair for playground

In such a cradle it will be especially convenient for very young children, while playing on the playground you will not have to worry about their safety. An example of the product is shown in the photo. If you don’t have a tire on hand, then you can make a garden swing from other materials.

Armchair

An excellent attribute not only of the playground, but also of any corner of the recreation can be original armchair from tires, as in the photo. To make it you need:

  • cut off one rim from the tire;
  • along the perimeter of the second, make a cut to half the circle;
  • turn the rubber inside out;
  • bring the cut edge of the sidewall behind the rim - this will be the back of the chair, the curved opposite edge turns into a comfortable seat;
  • the place of inflection is fixed with bolts;
  • eyebolts are screwed into the “armrests” of the chair, chains or a rope are attached to them;
  • the whole structure is fixed on the base.

rocking chair

From tires you can make with your own hands not only hanging swing, but a ground rocking chair. For this:

  • you need to cut the tire in half, getting two halves of the circle;

Rocking chair from improvised materials

  • fasten a polished board with self-tapping screws to one half from the side of the cut;
  • make two holes on both sides of the board, thread a piece of thick rope into them - these are the handles that the children will hold on to while riding;
  • paint the product in bright colors.

Original crafts from tires

If you have imagination and free time, you can make it yourself original designs for children in the form fairytale heroes, bicycle, horse, motorcycle. To do this, according to the drawings received on the Internet, the rubber is cut out in certain form, individual elements are fastened with bolts. Rubber must be cut with a shoe knife in the direction “up and towards you” to obtain even cuts, depending on the type of construction, the length and width of the cut tapes, the angle of the cuts differ, but the rims must be left intact - this is a guarantee of children's safety. The result is a fantastic swing - the perfect decoration for any playground. Examples of such products are shown in the photo below.

Tires are increasingly being used to create various decorations and not only. These are various animals from tires, and flower beds and much more. The author of the article came up with the idea to create a swing out of tires. This material is good in that it is easily accessible and perfectly cut. And also thanks high strength they can be given a variety of shapes, in this case it is a swing in the form of a horse.

Materials and tools:
- car tire of a suitable size;
- cutting tool(metal scissors, jigsaw, knife, and so on);
- long bolts for creating spacers;
- drill;
- strong rope;
- and other tools.

Manufacturing process

Stage one. swing pattern
First of all, you need to create a template for the future swing. For these purposes, it can be printed and then cut. If you look at the template from above, you can see that it has round shape. But from the bottom it becomes clear how he should be transformed into a horse.
Tire cutting can be done a variety of tools. It all depends on the thickness of the rubber and the complexity of the entire project.

Stage two. Installation of spacers
Bolts with solid threads will be used as spacers. They need to be inserted through the tire and compress it with nuts.
Such spacers should be under the seat and at the withers of the horse. Thanks to this, the swing will become stiffer, and it will be much more comfortable to sit on them. If such bolts cannot be found, they can be replaced with rivers and screws. The main thing at the same time is to round off the edges of nuts and screws, as children can get scratched while riding on such a swing.

To tighten the head, back, mane and saddle in the area where the rope is attached, you need about three or four bolts about 5 cm long.

Stage three. swing hanging
To hang such a swing, only a strong cord is used, and strong knots are tied. A cord is tied to the neck and back of the horse's saddle.

Of course, the greatest moment in the manufacture of such a swing should be given to safety, because children will use them. It is necessary to use wide washers and tighten the nuts well. For reliability, the bolts can be threaded. Also, special attention should be paid to the cord, it should not be too thin.

More than one child will not resist the temptation to ride on such a swing, and this, for sure, will be best place for his games.
Such a swing is designed for small children, weighing no more than 50 grams.

If you firmly believe that the list of tire swings is limited to uncomfortable vertically or horizontally suspended tires, then you are VERY wrong. Variations of models of ground and hanging swings are so numerous that they amaze the imagination. It is usually a one-piece wheel, with strategically cut, folded and/or riveted parts. As well as additional decorations, of course. Creative thought makes all kinds of animals out of car tires, miniature vehicles (from airplanes to motorcycles) and even swing chairs. And almost all of them you can recreate with your own hands without special skills and talents. We look:

A swing for kids from 5 years old, when only a thin inner rim is left from the tire (wide on the right, cut with a fringe for beauty) and a piece of rubber at the bottom as a seat. The simplest advanced model. Of course, before creating a swing for children, tires must be thoroughly cleaned and processed. If the harmlessness of rubber still worries you even after that, you can always additionally wrap or paste over such a swing with a fabric that is soft self-adhesive film and others.

Almost the same option, but safer - with a back. And the back can be different:

For the smallest, the most convenient and reliable variation is with a kick and with a crossbar in front:

If the wheel is larger, you can make a swing with a back for older children. And this is how this craft will look, if you guess brightly and beautifully color it:

And here is a whole cradle plus an additional design for beauty:

This line is completed by a luxurious swing chair for an adult, although not a densely built person. They are made from a wheel for a truck or tractor.

Also still simple swing, but with a small "twist": the wheel is cut off at the back and cut off at the top, and also bent back ...

... and the cut off side of the wheel is bent, and the same sidewall from the second wheel is planted on top and across it on rivets.

Before moving on to the most creative, beautiful and complex models, let's look at a few ground swings. A classic for two with a crossbar based on a lever in the middle. As practice shows, if an adult does not decide to swing on them, no additional strengthening of the half of the wheel from below is required - it will withstand the weight anyway. Typically, these swings are equipped with handles closer to the center, and can be supplemented with soft seats for greater comfort.

These are rocking chairs, on which it is supposed to sit, as usual, and swing sideways from side to side.

And these are improved models, when from a half car tire they are already making an analogue of a rocking horse:

Finally, a wheel on a huge spring, but this is already an attraction for brave young extreme boys, since injuries are possible. Knee pads, elbow pads and a helmet are recommended when using.

Hanging tire swing bench - for the whole family: a classic of the genre when wooden planks mounted between the tires, and the latter serve as armrests.

Well, now what we have all been waiting for: a real swing-masterpiece from tires. Production of similar swings in the form of animals and various items Recently, abroad has become a real business, and for such toys for their children, people lay out a lot of money.

The main sources, among others, are the same as in previous articles on landscape design and planters, ponds and sandboxes from tires.
