And given the number of masterpieces, the speed of their appearance and the desire of the creator to see his paintings on these walls ... In general, you won’t get enough of victorious drills!

Therefore, we will make a frame out of cardboard. What's the thrill here? And the fact that it can be hung on any wall, as we will use it as load-bearing elements wallpaper and a needle. The frame is light, and you do not need to remove it to replace the picture, which means there is less risk of tearing the wallpaper with a needle. Moreover, in one frame you can hang several pictures at once, one on top of the other.

We will need the following materials and tools:

  1. a sheet of cardboard, 260 × 350 mm in size;
  2. a sheet of A4 paper;
  3. ruler;
  4. stationery knife;
  5. flat screwdriver;
  6. pencil;
  7. single hole punch;
  8. sample round shape.

As the main material we take microcorrugated cardboard with a thickness of 1.5 mm. In my case, it is white on one side, and it is on this side that you need to make markings. The front side will be back side cardboard color - because it looks more advantageous on our white wallpaper. The original size (260 × 350 mm) is due to the fact that on each side there are 25 mm left on the mat. The beginning of the markup is simple - exactly in half, horizontally and vertically.

We apply in the middle, by eye, a sheet of A4 paper and make serifs 70-80 mm long at the intersections with the marking lines. The entire sheet does not need to be circled.

Now about the round template. It's 60mm in diameter, and it's a lid for a soft-boiled egg cup, simply because it fits the diameter. In general, when you need to make something round, you need to think about the compass last, because in the house where the child lives, there are always caps for paints, children's dishes, plates, etc., which can and should be used instead. Take a look around! Surely somewhere nearby there is something with a diameter of 60 mm! We put the template in the middle of the edge of the sheet and the pencil line and circle it.

It turns out something like this!

Now we take a flat screwdriver and, stepping back a couple of millimeters from the pencil border of a sheet of paper, we push through.

And cut like this!

The point is small - to make holes for the needle! They need to be made with a single hole punch, one each on the long and short sides. If there is no single, then you can take a regular hole punch.

All is ready! We make all the following frames according to this template. Just put on top, circle, extrude and cut out.

To work on a homemade frame you will need:

  • photo paper (thick, multi-colored);
  • scissors;
  • ruler;
  • butter knife;

So, first we need to print the provided template on colored paper.

Then step back a little from the border of the sheet marked with a pencil and push in that place with a screwdriver.

Next, you need to cut through the designated drawing with a compass on four sides. Then squeeze out the cut parts in the opposite direction. There is very little left, you need to take a hole punch and make holes for the needle so that you can hang or fix the picture on the wall.

The frame can be left in this state, or you can decorate it with some kind of decor if you wish. Such a frame can be hung with a needle or attached with buttons, horizontally or vertically, as you like. In any case, if you hang it once, you will only have to remove the painted drawings of your baby.

More sophisticated technique

To complicate the work process, you can make an origami frame. This kind of framing will take more time. For crafts you need two sheets of paper square shape. One leaf will serve as a base, and the other decoration. It is advisable to use multi-colored paper. So, you need to cut one sheet into four equal parts, and fold the other according to the scheme:

You can return to the small squares. Of these, it is necessary to form four identical parts, which will serve as a decoration for the frame. Then connect the parts with the main part of the origami, you get an octagonal frame.

The result is an interesting origami frame for photos or children's drawings.

To create a frame, prepare:

  • passe-partout (if desired);
  • white acrylic primer;
  • acrylic (textural) paste;

  • PVA glue;
  • brushes, palette knife, spatula, sponge, scissors, clerical knife.

First of all, we cut out the base from the binding cardboard. In this case, the size outside parties: 19*24 cm, frame margins - 3 cm each, inner window - 13*18 cm.

For the back wall, we cut out a rectangle 19 * 24 cm. Optionally, we make a passe-partout from paper or cardstock. The inner window is 9 * 14 cm. Thus, it will be possible to insert a 10 * 15 photo and it will gently hold on to the passe-partout without falling out of the frame.

As a result, three components of the frame are obtained: back wall, the inner frame is a mat and the front frame itself.

Let's start decorating the photo frame with our own hands. Prime it with white acrylic primer(recco). This can be done with a brush, but if you have special tools, then you can use a small spatula or palette knife. Leave until completely dry.

To quickly dry the soil layer, put the frame in the oven, while keeping the door open. After 5 minutes, you can continue to work!

For further decoration, use lace or a regular bandage. Carefully lay it out in several places.

Using a palette knife, cover with a thin layer of soil. Dry again.

Cut the edges of the bandage with scissors, clean the edges sandpaper.

For the next step, you will need a stencil (cut out of plastic) or a ready-made mask (the author has a Prima mask).

Apply a stencil and cover with acrylic (texture) paste. Carefully remove the stencil. We trim the edges.

Empty spaces can also be covered with texture paste, for example creating a plaster effect. Set aside until completely dry (you can dry it in the oven as before).

Let's move on to coloring. In this version, the entire surface is painted over with cream-colored paint.

Now the frame looks like this, almost antiques.

If desired, you can create a slight effect of powdering. To do this, apply a small amount of white paint to the sponge, and gently touch the frame with this sponge.

Embrossing in another way can be called the process of creating a three-dimensional pattern.
To do this, a rubber or silicone stamp is dipped into an ink pad, which is coated with transparent embossing ink. Then an impression is made on the paper and sprinkled with embossing powder (in this case, the powder can be used different colors). Excess powder is shaken off with a brush.

The decorating process is complete. We proceed to the assembly of the frame.

The back - the base is decorated with sprays and a stamp with handwritten text, although this will be covered with a photograph later.

The inner frame is a passe-partout, slightly aged with white acrylic paint.

By the way, do not forget to make a leg for the frame. From thick cardboard, you need to cut a rectangle about 4 * 10 cm in size and glue a holder with a ribbon to it. The ribbon will not allow the leg to unfold to the end.

We glue all the layers of the frame: outer and inner (passe-partout) around the perimeter. Then glue on three sides inner frame to the base (leave the fourth, upper side not glued, we will insert a photo through it).

Three layers are glued. If an uneven edge protrudes somewhere, then it can be trimmed with sandpaper. And tint the cleaned edges with white primer. The frame is ready! We glue each blank along the entire strip. It turns out that such 4 details are the walls of the display frame.

It remains to connect all the details to each other, inserting into each other. The details that came out of the curly patterns - this will be the top and bottom of the frame. The same parts that we glued from the rectangles are the left and right walls.

We glue the display frame well inside in the corners so that there is no void between the parts and they fit snugly together.

The finished display frame should lie down a little to stick together well.
