Do-it-yourself child seat with filler. How to make a comfortable and original bean bag with your own hands. How to sew a rectangular frameless bag with your own hands

In order to sew a bag chair, you will need about 4.6 m of dense and lining fabric, 2 zippers no shorter than 56 cm, as well as polystyrene or other granules of at least 1.8 cubic meters.

Pear chair pattern, more precisely, one of the six segments of the bag is shown in the diagram, one with adult sizes, the dimensions of the other are reduced for the convenience of the child. In order to simplify the calculations, you can use graph paper or other checkered paper; on such material, you can easily transfer the diagram only if the scale is observed.

As a result, the pattern of an adult chair will have the following dimensions: length 105 cm, maximum width 54 cm.

To create the top of the chair, fold the paper in half, and then make a mark in the middle of the fold line. Next, you need to draw a circle with a radius of 14cm.

To create a pattern for the base of the chair, as well as when creating a drawing of the top, you can use paper folded in half, however, a circle should be drawn with a radius of at least 30.5 cm. parallel line. After that, the circle is cut along this line, and the base pattern will be the smaller part of the circle.

As a result of cutting, you should get:
- six wedges from the fabric for the cover and the same number cut from the lining fabric;
- one top part from lining fabric and one from fabric for a cover;
- two parts of the base, cut out of the fabric for the cover, and also two of the lining fabric.

How to sew a bag chair- the answer to this question is quite simple! First you need to sew together the details of the base, and between the two details of the base you need to insert a zipper. Next, you should connect the side wedges to each other with the right sides inward. When all the details are interconnected, the product must be ironed, not forgetting to carefully smooth the seams. After that, the bag can be filled with polystyrene or other granules.

So the beautiful chair-pear-bean bag, sewn with your own hands, is ready!

Happy sewing!

Furniture is different: soft and cabinet, beautiful and comfortable, necessary and beloved, white and red ... And sometimes it is also frameless. We first saw cool unusual chairs in the program "Comedy Club". Previously, something such baggy furniture did not catch the eye. But thanks to the popular TV show, everyone was envious and urgently wanted the same ones for themselves!

To today I've made quite a few of these bags myself. And then we looked everywhere, where at least one was possible, to rip it open, and see, well, what is there after all inside! A real odyssey about twelve chairs! With what only we did not fill the covers, which we ourselves designed! Sintepon, pieces of foam rubber, wool ... everything was not right! It seems to be soft, but there is no such characteristic elastic and lively effect!

A whole year passed until the friends who came from Italy found such a chair, not by chance. It was so beautiful, huge and silvery that the hand did not rise to cut it. Yes, it was not necessary. The case appears to have a zipper. And inside is another case. And in that case - tiny peas. What would you think, of course, Styrofoam! Darkness-darkness of cute white balls. Who would have guessed that they just have an unbearable character? But more on that later.

Do-it-yourself frameless furniture is incredibly convenient, comfortable and beautiful. After sitting and lying down on such an armchair, we can relax our back, and the whole body as a whole. Such stunning chairs are simply adored by children and animals. And it all started with a curiosity. And, of course, in the homeland of design - in Italy. In the sixties of the twentieth century, young designers Cesare Paolini, Franco Teodoro and Piero Gatti came up with a kind of punk movement "Antidesign".

The guys made absolutely crazy furniture. Including armchairs without frames. Colored water was poured into bags made of transparent PVC fabric. These works resembled huge packages of yogurt. Such furniture at design exhibitions looked very scandalous, of course. But it just looked. It was impossible to operate it. Water is very heavy in itself, and the fabric simply torn under its weight.

But Italy is the birthplace of not only artists, but also adventurers. Industrialist Aurelio Zanotta had a business sense. He liked the crazy idea, and after thinking about it, he made his changes, which made the bags practical chairs. Aurelio replaced PVC with a durable fabric, and water with foamed PVC balls. And already in 1968, his freshly baked company "Zanotta" puts on sale bags-drops of bright pink color, weightless and insanely comfortable.

Сonfortevole da morire, as the Italians like to say "deadly comfortable". These chairs were called "Sacco" (sacco) - a bag. Incredible pink bags immediately won many awards at exhibitions, the largest museums in the world, such as MoMA, Metropolitan, and many others. The ingenious Aurelio got rich, and the Zanotta factory still produces frameless furniture, which sells around the world with a bang. As well as all the rest of the beautiful furniture of their production. By the way, the world's first inflatable chair "Blow" was also born in this factory.

In 2008, the Zanotta factory celebrated its 40th anniversary. For the holiday, they released a collection of Saccos, hand-painted by famous artists and designers. She was destined trip around the world and then auction sale. The French channel "Arte" made a whole film dedicated to ageless bags. These are the consequences of the friendship of three young designers! By the way, I never found out what their fate was.

So wonderful bright mattresses carry the energy of prosperity and breakthrough. Why don't we have these? The original costs about 600 euros. Native Ukrainian fake - more than a thousand hryvnia. But wait! Italians are not all so brilliant and handy. For the most part, they do not like to make something there (and even more so, by the way, to repair and repair) with their own hands. They prefer to earn and buy. Otherwise the world would be overpopulated with Mikkelangels and Leonard Davincis.

But we are, we are different! Golden hands are given to us from birth! Our craftswomen figured out a long time ago how to make such charming furniture at home. Of all the tools you need only sewing machine. No hammers, no drills, no outside help needed. In one evening, you can easily build one chair. For a week of work frameless furniture with your own hands will be a wonderful gift to all relatives and friends.

Now we will decide on the model, and proceed. To date, such frameless furniture models:

This beauty also differs in size: for adults and children, bigger and smaller. But there are no strict standards. The principle of tailoring is the same for everyone. The difference is only in the pattern of the model.

Components of furniture

So, any frameless chair consists of two covers: internal and external. Both fasten with zippers. External case it can be made of eco-leather (the word promoted by advertising, in fact, it is an ordinary furniture leatherette). Such a surface is easy to clean, always looks bright and elegant. But to sit on it with bare feet in the summer means to stick. You can also use any fabric, preferably furniture - they are much stronger. For example, fleece, you can raincoat fabric, cotton fabric, any light and durable. With natural fabric, the body feels better, but it wears out faster. In general, think, finally sew new case instead of worn out - no problem.

Inner case can be sewn from furniture interlining or a simple lining fabric. Its shape is the same as the outer one. And filling- balls of polyvinyl chloride, that is, polystyrene.

Foamed granules are very harmful. Putting them in a ready-made case is impossible! According to the law of static electricity, the balls fly up, then completely sideways, and finally stick to everything. A very beautiful sight, but I do not advise repeating it. For the rest of your life, you'll be picking nasty pellets out of all sorts of places. I have developed two methods to stuff the harmful balls inside the case.

First: sew a long zipper, for example, a meter long, into the inner case. Then you can stuff the whole bag into it, cut it inside, and take it out, and the balls will remain inside. Second: make a large paper funnel, and fill the crumbs through it. Then there is no need for a long lightning. Paper also removes static electricity.

Previously, this miracle could only be bought in construction stores in big bags. Now, when frameless furniture is mass-produced, there are special granules packaged in one hundred liters. They cost from fifty hryvnias - according to the conscience of the seller. Don't be intimidated by the volume - the bag is almost weightless.

Varieties of frameless furniture

We start with the simplest patterns. To start, let's make pillow. It looks like a trihedral pyramid. The classic proportions of triangles: the base is 110 cm each, the sides are 80 cm each. But you can resize without changing the proportions to your liking. We cut out, placing the details on the fabric in such a way as in the photo.

We give seam allowances one and a half centimeters on each side. Sew together the sides of the pyramid. Slices are processed with an overlock if the fabric is loose. Sewing on the triangle base of the pyramid, we sew in the zipper. It is better to do this on the entire face 100 cm long.

We sew the outer cover in the same way. We stuff a bag with balls into the inner case and release them, fill the case by two-thirds. They need room to move in order to take shape when they sit in the chair. We take out an empty bag, fasten the zipper. We stuff the inner into the outer, fasten. That's it, you're done!

Armchair-pear consists of six wedges, a round bottom (bottom part 1 and 2, two parts each), and an upper hexagonal part. It is sewn in the same way as a pillow. classic is also no less interesting. We cut out two side parts.

Pattern for mat chairs not needed at all. We sew two rectangles, width 120 cm, height 180 cm, do not forget about zippers. That's the whole cover. Do not forget that you do not need to fill the cover with balls to failure, but only two-thirds. patterns flower chairs I don't, I didn't have to sew. But there is a picture by which it is clear how to sew. In fact, the whole flower is sewn from squares.

And finally, I will say, if frameless furniture with your own hands has taken root with you, do not throw away the remnants of harmful balls. Over time, after about a year of daily use, the balls will shrink and become smaller in volume.

Then you will need to fill them up to the desired volume. And you just have right amount in the rest!

I will also say, lovers of a particularly healthy lifestyle. I have never heard anyone complain about allergic reactions to frameless furniture. She is very eco-friendly.

Have a nice rest in chairs that take the shape of your body, chairs that know how to love, chairs born in the most beautiful country in the world!

Advantages and disadvantages of frameless furniture

Such furniture has gained popularity due to many advantages:

  • mobility;
  • high comfort;
  • security;
  • budget price.

The covers are easy to wash and change, allowing you to quickly change the interior of the room and adjust to any design project.

The disadvantages include the need for frequent cleaning of the cover due to the lack of legs, the inability to use in classic interiors and the risk of tearing due to the "warfare" of a child or pet.

How to make a bean bag chair with your own hands

Although such furniture is inexpensive, it is more economical to make it yourself. This process is simple, and allows you to make a bean bag chair according to individual taste and size.

What fabric to choose

Frameless furniture consists of two covers. For internal version it is necessary to choose a dense and practical fabric. It can be raincoat or mattress textiles, preferably on a natural basis. But at the same time, the fabric should not sit down, otherwise the outer cover will then wrinkle.

If you are not sure about the shrink properties, wash and iron the fabric before cutting.

For an outer case, not only practicality and durability are important, but also an attractive appearance. Ideal furniture fabrics:

  • Oxford. The fabric has an anti-claw effect and water repellency. Durable artificial fibers of polyester and nylon form a density up to 600den. Durable fabric is easy to care for. The disadvantages include the tendency to accumulate static electricity and instability to high temperatures.
  • Faux leather PU. Modern polymer material is affordable and excellent performance quality. The fabric is not afraid of frost, elastic and resistant to mechanical stress, has no smell. PU artificial leather has practically no drawbacks, therefore it is actively used in the production of frameless furniture.
  • Flock. Durable wear resistant furniture fabric with water repellent effect. The basis of the fabric is cotton and polyester, the surface is velvety. Good breathability, resistant to pet claws. It is recommended to place furniture made of flock fabric away from heat sources and use a manual wash mode at a temperature not exceeding 40 ⁰C.
  • Velor Corduroy. Corduroy - modern material obtained by innovative technologies. The fabric has a velvet effect, is elastic, can withstand pet claws and is abrasion resistant. In care, it is not recommended to use cleaning products based on strong chemicals, wring out and subject to any rough mechanical impact.
  • Leather. Luxurious and expensive natural material It has a high degree wear resistance and practicality. Genuine leather is breathable and resistant to temperature changes. Caring for this material is simple, the skin is well cleaned of dust and dirt, and retains a presentable appearance for a long time.
  • Chenille. Wear-resistant fabric has a delicate velvety surface. The composition of the material is natural, synthetic and artificial. Soft and elastic chenille resembles velor, but its cost is lower. The disadvantages include the possibility of the appearance of hooks on the fabric.
  • Jacquard. The strong uniform structure of the fabric makes it practical and durable. Jacquard lets air through, as it contains cotton fibers. The material is not sensitive to temperature changes, but it is better to wash it in cool water. Fabric production requires high costs, therefore jacquard belongs to the elite type and has a high price.

It is better to cover outdoor chairs with covers made of Oxford material - it has a water-repellent impregnation and is resistant to dirt.

Filler

Connoisseurs of eco-materials offer to fill such bags wood chips, natural down or leguminous crops. These options are environmentally friendly, but the product requires meticulous care so that the filling does not get wet, moldy or rotten. In addition, such a filler is very fond of rodents.

It is better to use expanded polystyrene balls as a filler.

This material is harmless to the environment and health, durable, not afraid of moisture, fireproof and retains heat well. The only negative can be considered that with incorrectly selected sizes of balls, the product will be harsh. It is necessary to choose granules no more than 5 mm in diameter. 300 liters is the minimum amount for a chair. Synthetic down adds extra softness.

How to calculate the dimensions for a pattern

The diameter of the bean bag varies from 70 to 130 cm. The average product is about 90 cm in diameter and 1.2 m in height. Each cover will require approximately 2.5 m of fabric with a width of 120–140 cm. For a child the pattern and the amount of fabric decreases proportionally, and if you want to make a mini-sofa, it increases. Here are the product patterns different shapes:

Step-by-step master class on making

For manufacturing you will need:

  • graph paper or newspapers;
  • cover material;
  • filler;
  • Ruler and pencil;
  • scissors, chalk, needles, threads;
  • sewing machine;
  • two zippers.

You will also need a suitable pattern.

Sequencing:

  1. Choose a suitable pattern and transfer it to paper in real scale. It is more convenient to use graph paper, but you can also take an old newspaper.
  2. Put the patterns on the fabric and cut, leaving an allowance of 1.5 cm. You should get two cut-out sets of parts - for the outer or inner cover.
  3. Sew the inner bag, it is better to make double or zigzag seams, use reinforced threads. Insert a zipper into one of the seams.
  4. Turn the bag inside out and fill two-thirds of the Styrofoam beads through the funnel so they don't fly apart. Close the clasp.
  5. Sew the outer bag, insert a zipper in one of the seams. Put it on the chair and close the clasp.

Care rules

In order for frameless furniture to serve for a long time, while maintaining an impeccable appearance, the following recommendations must be observed:

  • add filler from time to time so that it does not lose shape;
  • do not place near radiators, so as not to deform the filler;
  • so that the fabric does not fade, remove from direct sunlight;
  • do not clean furniture with bleaching agents, ammonia or solvents.

Even a novice tailor can make a bean bag chair on his own. The main thing is to choose a suitable pattern and be careful in the sewing process. The result will be a presentable, low-cost and proper care durable piece of furniture.

Modern people value their own coziness and comfort. They do not want to clutter up their apartments with uncomfortable and bulky interior items. Therefore, frameless furniture is now at the peak of popularity. It is lightweight and able to provide required level convenience, and it can be placed even in small room. One of prominent representatives such interior decoration is the pear armchair.

Picture 1. Frameless pear chair became popular because it is convenient, does not take up much space and looks original.

As a rule, such furniture, made in the factory, is not cheap. But even a novice craftswoman can make it on her own. This does not require any special skills or expensive materials.

Materials and tools

In order to sew a chair, you must first prepare the materials and tools that you will need in your work. These include:

Figure 2. An example of a finished pattern with dimensions.

  • paper for making patterns (tracing paper or graph paper);
  • fabric for covers;
  • 2 zippers (length 45 and 65 cm);
  • filler;
  • sewing machine;
  • sewing accessories (needles, pins, zipper foot, thread);
  • measuring instruments (measuring tape, ruler).

The bag chair consists of 2 covers, inner and outer. Its appearance is shown in Figure 1.

For the interior of the chair, it is necessary to choose a dense and sufficiently strong fabric. Otherwise, the filler may come out and the chair will become an inexhaustible source of garbage in your room. The choice of fabric for the outer cover depends entirely on your tastes, preferences and general design interior. It can be furniture materials, such as tapestry or velor. Looks good faux fur, velvet. For a children's room, a bright chair, decorated with bright patterns, is suitable.

When choosing a material, it is worth remembering that the bag chair is located on the floor. Therefore, it is worth giving preference to non-staining, easy-care fabrics or sewing spare covers. For a product intended for an adult, you will need approximately 3.5-4 m of each type of material. In this case, it is worth considering that the outer cover should be slightly larger than the inner one.

Foamed foam is suitable as a filler for a chair. It will need approximately 0.25 m 2. When choosing and purchasing material, it is worth remembering that it is sold in very bulky packages (about 0.5 m 2 each). Therefore, it is more reasonable to order the delivery of the filler.

pattern making

The pattern for the chair consists of such details as:

Figure 3. The layout of the pattern on the fabric

  • wedges - 6 pcs.;
  • top detail - 1 pc.;
  • the middle part of the base - 1 pc.;
  • side elements of the base - 2 pcs.

An example of a finished pattern with all required dimensions shown in fig. 2.

First you need to prepare a pattern of wedges (since they are the same). In the example diagram, the height of the parts is 1200 mm, and the width of the bottom is 450 cm. The width of the upper part must match the length of the side of the hexagon, which is the “lid”, that is, in this case it is 210 mm.

In order for the bag chair to turn out symmetrical, the pattern can be made half. Only one part of the part is built on paper (the element seems to be cut along), and the left and right sides are alternately drawn on the fabric.

The bottom consists of 4 parts. It is necessary to prepare a pattern for the upper and middle parts of the bottom. Moreover, 2 separate upper parts are cut out (in mirror image). But the middle part can be cut as 1 element (first the left, and then the right part).

We match all the marked points arbitrarily, connecting them in turn with a smooth line.

Cutting fabrics and sewing

The bag chair should be sewn sequentially. That is, first cut the inner cover and only then take on the outer one. So you do not get confused in the blanks.

Spread the fabric wrong side up on the floor. Lay out all the details of the pattern. An approximate diagram of their location is shown in Fig. 3.

When planning the cut, do not forget about the seam allowances.

Since they will all be inside the product, they can be made equal to 1.5-2 cm. Next, all the details of the pattern need to be circled. To do this, use a piece of chalk or dry soap. Do not forget that some elements need to be flipped and mirrored.

If you have a good eye, then the wedges that make up the bag chair do not have to be cut out separately. You can fold the fabric 6 times and cut it with equal allowances. In order for the pattern not to move, pin it with pins.

When cutting the top cover, follow the direction of the grain thread and the pile of the fabric. Flip pattern to different directions it is impossible, otherwise the product will turn out to be deformed, and the pattern of the material will be located in different directions. Then your bag chair will look sloppy.

In order to sew a chair, you will need only 3-4 hours. First, the details of the inner cover are ground. The details of the wedges are chipped in pairs, outside inside, and grind off. In one of the seams, it is necessary to leave a pass for sewing in a zipper.

Then the bottom of the bag is formed and stitched to the base. The last thing you need to fix the "lid". Ready product unscrewed and the clasp is sewn in. The easiest way to do this is with a special foot for sewing machines. The upper cover is made in the same way.

For final formation products need to fill the inner cover with filler. It does not need to be tamped or laid too tightly. The bag chair should be soft and easy to take shape. human body. If desired, the product can be decorated. Beautiful braid, fringe, brushes and the like are suitable for this. Baby chair decorate with sewn applications, embroidery or small soft toys.

Bags began to flicker on the screens TVs in the studios of various television programs, the townsfolk wondered - is this design really comfortable for sitting? Soon, all those interested were convinced of the level of comfort of such a chair, but other questions arose - where to buy and how to enter this furniture in interior. More about this and how to create a bean bag chair do it yourself will be discussed further.

We sew a bean bag chair ourselves

First, prepare the materials and tools.

  • Fabric for the inner cover. Opt for inexpensive durable fabric white color– other colors can be seen through the outer case.
  • Fabric for outer cover.
  • 2 zippers.
  • Filler - expanded polystyrene in granules. Simply put, these are foam plastic balls that are sold at a hardware store.
  • Sewing machine.
  • Millimeter pattern paper.
  • Pencil, crayon, ruler, pins.

Our chair will be pear-shaped, medium in size for an adult. With a fabric width of 1.5 meters, a cut of 3.5 meters is needed for the inner cover, and 3.6 meters for the outer one. The length of the zippers is 40 and 60 cm, respectively. The filler will need a quarter meter cubic.

We make a pattern in accordance with the pattern, observing the dimensions. There will be 6 pear-shaped wedges, a small hexagon is the top of the chair, and the bottom should be oval. Two fragments of the bottom shown on the pattern will be needed in duplicate. The oval is divided into 4 parts to save material when cutting.

We transfer the pattern to the fabric for the inner cover using pins and chalk. Leaving a 1 cm seam allowance, cut out all the details. We carry out similar operations with the second type of tissue.
