Why did you decide to install a new faucet? The fact is that old faucet although he holds, but he does not have a lamb and he is very tight. It is not possible to replace it with a new one, because. it is not possible to unscrew it for the reason described above, and it cannot be cut off, because pressurized plumbing system. Therefore, it was decided to simply screw on a new tap, and replace this one in the fall, when the water will be turned off.

At this stage, the following problem arises. The new tap will not screw on the old thread. The fact is that the thread is partially rotten, partially contaminated. The solution to this problem is simple, you need to "drive" the old thread. For this it is convenient to use special device for cutting pipe thread.

In general, cutting pipe threads is quite problematic, especially without special tool. In this case, the device is homemade, made according to sketches from a pipe threading tool. It is desirable to have such a tool on hand for suburban area he often helps out in such situations.

If there is no special tool at hand, then cutting the thread is very problematic, but updating the old thread is not difficult. You can use a plate. You can also try to remove rust with a wire brush and WD 40. WD 40 softens rust well.

After the thread is cut, it is necessary to wind up and screw on the tap. Traditionally, winding is done with flax. In this case, the winding was done with a fuma tape. Firstly, flax was simply not at hand. Secondly, over time, flax absorbs rust and becomes, as it were, a single whole with a threaded connection. As a result, in the future, if necessary, it will be problematic to unscrew this valve.

Fuma tape, unlike linen, does not absorb water and rust and does not "grow" with the thread. Therefore, removing the tap if necessary will not be a problem, for example, for the winter. In addition, given the low pressure in the country water supply system, the fuma tape will perfectly cope with leaks.

So, we wind the fuma tape on the thread in one layer. This is enough to create a tight connection. I start winding the fuma tape from the beginning of the thread clockwise, because. the faucet will also turn clockwise. This winding direction will not allow it to wrinkle or move, which is very important for the tightness of the threaded connection.

The crane with a little effort is screwed on by hand. And put in a comfortable position. For reliability, it can be slightly tightened with a key. In general, water taps should not be tightened too much. Tightening force does not affect tightness. The tightness is affected by the density of the winding.

If a water faucet pull, then, firstly, it may burst, and secondly, it will be difficult to turn it off in the future. Therefore, if during the installation of the tap a non-tightness of the threaded connection is detected, then it is necessary to remove the tap and make a tighter winding, and not try to tighten it more.

Now you can proceed to connect the hose for irrigation. I purchased a rubber armored hose for irrigation. Why my choice fell on this type of hose I will tell at the end of the article.

The main criterion for connection is simplicity, both connection and disconnection. For these purposes, a split fitting was chosen for polypropylene pipe complete with adapter for inch thread like a faucet. Branch thickness polypropylene fitting 20 mm, just equals the inner diameter of the hose. Tighten the adapter well

The convenience of using this type of fitting lies in the fact that to connect the hose to the water supply, it is enough to screw only the nut on the fitting. If you use a non-detachable fitting, then you will have to twist the entire hose when connecting, which is very inconvenient.

Considering not high pressure in country water supply, the fitting nut can be tightened simply by hand without the use of a wrench. The main thing is not to forget to install the gasket.

In conclusion, as I said a few words earlier, why the usual rubber hose and not modern. The fact is that, even though the rubber hose is less convenient to use, it is heavier, it has a larger diameter compared to a modern hose of a similar cost. Accordingly, the flow of water through such a hose will be greater. This is true at low pressure in the system. As a result, using a rubber hose for watering, watering itself is carried out much faster.
