The wallpaper on the walls was torn off for 3 days. It was a nightmare. No matter how much they wetted them with water, they stubbornly did not want to come off. Then the walls were leveled gypsum plaster. Without fanaticism, only holes and large irregularities were patched up.

I decided to close the window to the bathroom with drywall. To do this, I made a frame from a ceiling profile, screwed drywall to it and leveled it with gypsum plaster.

The ceiling was not leveled, as it was surprisingly more or less even. They simply removed the old coating on it, covered it with a primer and painted it with a roller with two layers of water-based emulsion. After drying, the paint was sanded a little with a fine (100) sandpaper in order to remove the unevenness of the painting.

Before starting to glue the wallpaper, I replaced the socket for the electrical outlet. It is problematic to change the wiring in the apartment, since it is internal, and ditching the walls is like walking through a minefield. Although, maybe it's not as difficult as I think.

Wallpapering the kitchen

Wallpaper purchased on a non-woven base. I've never done wallpaper like this before. The only difference from vinyl and paper wallpaper in that, you only need to smear the wall with glue. The instructions say that you do not need to cut the strips, but glue them directly from the roll, then cut them off in place. But this is inconvenient - there is a danger of staining and scratching the roll, so we cut off the strip of the desired length in advance.

And so nothing complicated:

• On a plumb line we mark a vertical line,
• Apply glue with a brush
• We combine the edge of the wallpaper with the line,
• Glue the entire strip, gently smoothing.

Linoleum flooring

As floor covering decided to use linoleum. I managed to buy it with a width of 2.5 meters, which, with a kitchen width of 2.2 meters, means minimal trimming.

To begin with, they cut off with a good margin of 5 cm on each side and leveled the cut piece.

We left it to lie down for a while (it took us almost a month) in order for the linoleum to straighten out.

Then I cut off the excess and started fixing the baseboard.

Plinth with cable channel, plastic. Fastening is very simple: on the dowel-nails 6 by 40 to the wall. I drilled the holes for them right through the plinth, with a drill for 6.

In places where the plinth did not adhere well to the wall (the walls are not even), I added another dowel-nail. On one of the plots of 30 cm, I had to screw in 3 dowel-nails! On the rest I fixed it after about 60 centimeters.

I did not finish with the skirting boards, as the doors have not yet been installed. On the wall where it will stand kitchen furniture the plinth was not fixed.

Assembly of kitchen furniture

The next stage of the kitchen renovation is the installation of furniture. Since the kitchen is small, there is not much of it. All kitchen furniture was purchased from the Castorama hypermarket. 2 floor drawers 60 cm wide, 4 hanging drawers, a countertop, a sink, an apron and all related fittings were purchased.

I personally liked the set of furniture. All holes are already drilled, all fittings are included in the package, even a hexagon is carefully included in each set of fittings. No need to think - unpack and assemble.

I screwed the legs on first.

I put the drawers in place and tried on the countertop. Its length is 120 centimeters.

Next up is the apron. I attached it to the 6x40 dowel-nails directly to the wall. Bottom and top about 60 centimeters. The hats will be closed on top with hinged boxes, and on the bottom with a plinth. Those that will be visible will be closed with plugs.

I applied sealant to the ends of the countertop and closed it. metal bar. This must be done in order to protect the ends of the countertop. They are afraid of moisture, like any chipboard products. Unfortunately, the bar itself was not included in the frame.

I put the tabletop with a front overhang of about 2 cm. And screwed it to the bottom of the boxes with self-tapping screws. Next, I prepared a place for installing a sink. I sealed the contour of the countertop with masking tape with allowances of 5 centimeters.

Exciting moment. Drilled a hole. And he began to cut with a jigsaw. masking tape protects the countertop from scratches with a jigsaw.

Naturally, this configuration of the hole did not work out for me the first time. I have tried the sink itself many times with installed mixer and overflow.

Our sink is not the usual Soviet one, but with a wide drain and overflow, like in a bathroom. There is nothing difficult to assemble. I just filed down the overflow tube to make it fit.
