DIY mirror decor - a circle in circles

A creative approach to business can be a great tool in getting a very stylish accessory. We called this idea "Circle in Circles" because a round mirror is framed by several dozen white, plastic rings.

DIY mirror decor photo

And get these rings from the usual plastic pipe. The complexity of the process is only that you need to cut the rings very carefully. They must be the same width, otherwise the product will not turn out neat. To do this, it is better to use an electric "trimming" saw with a disc with fine teeth. If one is not available, a miter box can be used.

A glue gun is used to fasten the rings, they can glue all the rings almost imperceptibly. But before that, the sections of each ring must be treated with fine sandpaper to remove all burrs. Cause we do beautiful accessory, so everything should be neat in it.

Rings can be glued in any way, optionally, as in the photo, the composition can have both a square and an oval shape. It is recommended to do it in accordance with the shape of the mirror.

The mirror itself is glued to the rings and also with a glue gun exactly in the middle. All parts to be glued must first be cleaned of dust, they can also be degreased. You can hang the product to the wall directly on the rings.

Thus, you can make a composition of two or three mirrors, and so that it does not look lonely, you can “support” it, for example glass vases or a white table, like the author's.

Mirror frame made of disposable spoons

The idea may not be new, but it deserves attention. Because the result is very good. To work, you will need a lot of disposable spoons. The author used 288 pieces for the project. The amount may be less, depending on the size of the mirror and the frame itself. But remember, the product must be self-sufficient and neat, otherwise, how can they brag to the guests!

You will also need:

  • Cardboard or MDF sheet 5-8 mm thick
  • glue gun
  • Paint and brushes

First of all, you need to cut a circle from a sheet of cardboard. desired diameter, it will be the base, the spoons will hold on to it. Inside the circle in the center, another circle is cut out slightly larger than the diameter of the mirror. On the resulting cardboard ring, markings are made - to fix the first row of spoons (draw a circle with a pencil indented from the edge of 1 cm).

The most difficult stage in the work is gluing the cups together. The work is dreary and long, it does not tolerate fuss and haste. You should start with the outer circle according to the markup. The last, inner row, is glued not to the cardboard, but to the previous row, so that 2-3 cm of the cups hang down.

The photo below was taken just before this stage.

When all the spoons are fixed and the glue has dried, we proceed to staining. The author of the idea from 7 rows painted the 4th inner ones. Any color can be used depending on the idea. In our situation, the master created the image of a chrysanthemum flower, which he did well by selecting desired color and forms.

Coloring the composition should also be for the reason that to hide the cheap sheen of plastic. But first it must be treated with a primer so that the paint lays down better and does not form smudges. Acrylic paint was used for coloring.

Important point: the reverse hanging side of the inner row of spoons is also painted, because the mirror will be glued to it. If this is not done, the mirror will reflect it.

When the paint is completely dry, the mirror is fixed to the frame using the same gun. And a rope is glued to it or cardboard, it is for it that the product is hung on the wall

Here's what will come of it!
