Wasps built nests in the country in an inaccessible place, what to do. How to get rid of wasps? How to get rid of wild wasps in the country

Before you declare war on wasps, make sure they really pose a danger to you. The appearance of stinging insects does not always pose a threat, and then there is no need to specifically purchase a remedy for wasps. But having a hornet's nest near a house where small children or someone with an allergy to wasp venom lives, the answer is obvious - destroy it.

Are all wasps potentially dangerous to humans?

Wasps come in two types: social (public) and solitary. It is from the first that a person seeks to get rid of, their a large number of causes concern for good reason.

solitary wasps

They have no less frightening effect on us, although they are more harmless than the first. The fact is that they do not have a territory for protection, they lay their eggs inside their prey, freeing themselves from the burden of caring for offspring and building a nest.

Solitary wasps have a long body without bright yellow coloration. People are rarely stinged. beneficial insect in the economic and horticultural sense, prey on plant pests. If they are causing concern, then simple home remedies for wasps will help drive them away or destroy them. Any spray with citrus oil is dangerous for them.

Wasps building nests

A useful insect, it is considered a pest only when they build their nests close to a person's dwelling. This is the most environmentally friendly type of social wasp, watching her build her amazing nest is a real pleasure. The most convenient and safe way to get rid of - pressure spray.

Hornets

The most formidable representative, but he does not seek to find adventure for himself, therefore he rarely approaches a person's dwelling. Use to destroy the nest aerosols.

Wasps are unwanted and sometimes dangerous neighbors on suburban area. If they settled in your country house, you need to try to get rid of wasps for several reasons.

  1. Firstly, striped aggressors can bite summer residents if, for some reason, they decide that they are in danger.
  2. Secondly, they can be carriers of various infections.
  3. And finally, during the ripening of fruits and berries, the wasp family can spoil a significant part of the crop in the garden.

Where wasps make their nests

Most often, summer residents have to deal with paper wasps. These are social insects that live in a colony founded by a queen wasp. The founding queen seeks a secluded, dry place to build a nest in the spring. It can be an attic, some voids in the wall of the house, under the roof, under the floor.

Sometimes the wasps may nest in a bush or tree under cover of dense foliage. It happens that paper wasps settle on the ground, under the roots of trees, in the voids of rotten stumps and logs. Abandoned rodent minks, old anthills can be used.

A wasp nest can be right in the ground. This is the work of an earthen wasp, which digs vertical passages with lateral branches in loose soil. The result is an extensive underground network. On the surface of the earth you can see only a small hole - the entrance.

How to find a wasp nest

The queen builds a nest by chewing pieces of wood and turning them into paper, which is a building material. At first, the nest consists of several cells. The queen wasp lays eggs and feeds the larvae. As soon as the first worker wasps hatch, the construction of the nest and the search for food for the larvae are shifted to them.

The uterus is exclusively engaged in laying eggs. The wasp family is rapidly increasing and can reach several hundred insects. We need to get rid of such a dangerous neighborhood.

To solve this problem, you need to find the nest and destroy it. How to find?

If the wasps have made a nest somewhere in the house, it is enough to carefully monitor their movements. Workers are busy delivering to the hive building materials and food for the larvae and the uterus, so they will return in one direction - to the nest.

To find a nest on the territory of a summer cottage, there is an interesting easy way. Gotta put a piece somewhere fresh meat or fish and wait. Since the larvae feed only on protein foods, striped predators will not refuse such prey. It remains only to carefully trace where they carry food.

How to get rid of a wasp nest

  • If the hornet's nest is in a hard-to-reach place, it will not be easy to destroy it on your own. In this case, it is better to invite a specialized team of exterminators. Professionals, equipped with everything you need, will quickly solve this problem. Of course, this work will have to be paid.
  • Relatively safe method for self fight with wasps - the use of poisoned baits. You need to use insecticides without a strong odor. Attractive food for wasps mixed with poison and put in an open place. Insects will fly in to feast themselves and take the poisoned food to the nest for the larvae and queen. It remains only to wait until the poison takes effect.

If the hornet's nest is in an accessible place, then it will be easier to get rid of it:

  • Gotta take a tight bag right size and put on the nest. Tie the package tightly, sharply separating it from the place of attachment. Further at your discretion. You can put the package in a bucket, press down with a load and pour very hot water. And you can burn the nest. open fire better not to use. It would be safer to place the bag with wasps in some kind of metal container with a lid (barrel, bucket).
  • Pour or spray a little insecticide into a tight plastic bag, put it on a hornet's nest and tie it tight, eliminating air access. The wasps should be dead within a few hours.
  • Apply an insecticidal spray to the nest and quickly retreat. To consolidate the success, repeat the treatment in a day.
  • Pour earthen nest large quantity water, in which to add a drug to kill wasps. Plug the entrance with a stone or rags moistened with insecticide.
  • Sprinkle the area near the entrance to the earthen nest liberally with insecticidal powder. Wasps bring the powder into their home on their paws, infecting all the inhabitants.

Destroying wasps, do not forget about security measures.

Using the above methods of struggle, it is necessary to observe the following safety measures:

  1. To protect against possible attacks of angry insects, you need to dress in tight protective clothing, a hat with a mosquito net, and gloves. Tuck pants into boots.
  2. All actions should be carried out at night, when all the wasps are in the nest and are inactive.
  3. You need to act without noise and fuss, quickly and decisively.

Effective preparations for the destruction of wasps

GET - a modern effective tool has a wide range of applications and allows you to quickly get rid of wasps. The active ingredient chlorpyrifos is in microcapsules. The drug is harmless to humans and animals, without a strong odor. Can be used to prepare poisoned bait. Wasps carry insecticide-flavoured food to the nest for larvae and queen. As a result, everyone dies.

The drug is diluted in water according to the instructions (1:15), the hornet's nest and the area around are sprayed. The death of insects occurs upon contact with the insecticide.

GET- effective drug to kill insects.

If the nest is in the ground, the prepared solution is poured through the inlet. Plug the outlet with a rag soaked in the same solution.

MASTER 250 is a preparation based on chlorpyrifos. The active substance is in microcapsules. In terms of its properties and application, the insecticide is similar to GET.

DELTA ZONE is an effective broad-spectrum agent based on deltamitrin. Microcapsules with the active substance stick to the paws of insects, are brought into the nest. As a result, all the inhabitants of the nest die.
Due to the absence of a strong odor, the drug can be added to the bait.

Poisoned bait.

KARBOFOS is an old proven remedy against many pests, successfully used in the fight against wasps. Karbofos dissolves well in water, has a pungent odor. Plentifully process the nest with the solution prepared according to the instructions. More than one treatment may be required to get rid of dangerous insects.

Karbofos is also used to destroy wasp nests in the ground. Dilute 75 g of karbofos in a bucket of water and pour into the nest.

Traps for wasps.

The most common folk remedy for dealing with wasps are traps.

  1. The upper third of the bottle is cut off from the plastic one-and-a-half bottle and tightly inserted into the rest with the neck down. Water with honey, fermented compote or jam diluted with water is poured into the trap. Attracted by the delicacy, the striped robbers climb into the bottle, and remain there. Of course, this method will not completely get rid of wasps, but it will help to significantly reduce the number of these insects on the site. The more traps you place in your yard, the more noticeable the result will be. You just need to remember to clean the bottles of dead insects and add sweet foods.
  2. A crushed fly agaric hat and 100 g of honey are added to a glass of water. Boil the mixture for three minutes. The cooled bait is laid out near the habitats of insects. All actions must be performed with gloves. The wasps will not fly past the sweet mushrooms, they will try it themselves and take it to the nest.
  3. If the nest is in the ground, then you can get rid of it with a bucket of boiling water. It is necessary to pour through the inlet, which is then plugged with a stone or covered with earth and rammed.
  4. Put pieces of calcium carbide into the hole - the entrance of the earthen nest and fill it with water. When interacting with water, gas is released, which penetrates into the nest and has a detrimental effect on wasps.

What to do with wasp stings

In most cases, a person with a wasp sting shows a local reaction in the form of edema and redness of not more than 10 cm, accompanied by burning pain and itching. In this case, it is enough to take the necessary first aid measures:

  • Treat the bite site with any antiseptic solution. Suitable hydrogen peroxide, alcohol tincture, cologne, vodka, etc. It is better not to use iodine and brilliant green.
  • Apply cold to the bite site for 20-30 minutes. It is good to use ice cubes, some bags of frozen food, napkins dipped in cold water. These measures stop the absorption of the poison into the blood and its distribution throughout the body.
  • If you are bitten in the leg or arm, you can apply a tourniquet with the obligatory indication of the time of application. This will also stop the further spread of the poison and the possible development of an allergic reaction. The tourniquet must be removed after 30 minutes!
  • Take an antihistamine (Zodak, Suprastin, Claritin, etc.)
  • To relieve symptoms, use ointments and gels with antiallergic and antipruritic effects (Fenistil gel, Psilo-balm, Moskitol gel, etc.)

Usually within 2-3 days the symptoms disappear and the help of a doctor is not required.

For urgent medical care need to contact:

  • If the wasp stung in the face, neck, lip, tongue.
  • With multiple bites of one or more insects.
  • If the edema increases during the day and reaches large sizes(more than 10 cm).
  • With the development of urticaria, when the body is covered with multiple blisters.

The most dangerous are Quincke's edema and anaphylactic shock, which can develop rapidly and pose a threat to life.
Angioedema is also called giant urticaria. Hoarseness of the voice, shortness of breath, barking cough, swelling of the lips, cheeks, eyelids, limbs, indicate the possible development of Quincke's edema in a person. The victim may have low blood pressure, start tachycardia.

Anaphylactic shock is expressed in a sharp drop in blood pressure. A person has difficulty breathing, tachycardia, cyanosis of the skin, lips appears, loss of consciousness is possible.

If a person develops such reactions after a bite, it is urgent to call ambulance. Prior to the arrival of doctors to the victim to provide first aid.

What you need to know:

  • You are at risk if you are allergic to any allergens. A wasp sting can provoke an acute allergic reaction.
  • If you have had a severe reaction to a bee or wasp sting, next bite the reaction will be much stronger.
    What to do:
  • It is necessary to visit an allergist who will prescribe the necessary drugs and write out an algorithm of actions in case of development of anaphylactic shock or Quincke's edema.
  • When traveling to the country or to nature, carry an allergy passport with an algorithm of actions, syringes, adrenaline, prednisone, antihistamines.

If you are in a summer cottage or in nature, where there may be wasps, follow these rules:

  1. Do not put on strong-smelling cosmetics, perfume. These scents will attract wasps and hornets. They are also attracted to bright clothes.
  2. Do not walk barefoot in areas that have not been tested for wasp nests.
  3. If a wasp flies up to you, behave calmly, do not dismiss it. The insect will take your sudden movements as aggression and will attack.
  4. Do not leave bottles of drinks open as wasps can get in.
  5. To provide first aid to a stung person, your first aid kit should always have antiseptics, antihistamines and ointments, and a medical tourniquet.

Getting rid of wasps in a summer cottage is not as difficult and scary as many people think.

Have a nice holiday!

Here, it seems, you can’t call wasps pests, but they can annoy no worse. For the time being, they are invisible, but in August they are irresistibly drawn to human habitation - I suspect that they are attracted to the appetizing smells of jam and compotes. And here already one desire remains - to get rid of this scourge, moreover, as quickly and reliably as possible.

My wasps made several small nests under the roof of the house and one huge one in the dressing room. Moreover, the "bath" nest grew literally before our eyes, until it reached a completely frightening size. But as long as its inhabitants behaved peacefully and submissively, we happily coexisted with them. According to the principle "you do not touch us - we do not touch you." And so it began...

At first, these insects almost deprived us of the traditional Shabbat bath: a couple of weeks ago they suddenly became aggressive. Then they began to overpower already in the house: it’s not pleasant when a dozen wasps are constantly circling around you. The victims also appeared: Alenka stepped on a wasp with her bare foot and was stung; Murzik also "tasted" wasp sting while trying to catch an insect. It became impossible to postpone the search for methods of struggle further ...

Traps and lures

In practice, I have experienced simple traps: containers with any sweet liquid. The conclusions are as follows:

  1. It works - wasps flock to the bait. But in this way it will hardly be possible to completely eliminate them - only to reduce the "livestock". Well, and, perhaps, to distract from other "objects".
  2. The container must have a narrow neck, preferably arranged according to the principle of a funnel. Insects climb into jars, bottles, and a bowl of jam, but it is important that it is as difficult for them to get out of there.
  3. The odorous liquid in the trap is preferable to ordinary sweet water - jam, honey, fermented liquids attract insects more.
  4. Thick viscous bait "catches" wasps better than liquid. Suitable, for example, old jam (if it is candied, it has thickened a lot - dilute it a little with water).

I also found advice from an experienced grower: add an ampoule of any gastrointestinal insecticide to this liquid (remedies for colorado potato beetle, for example). He says that with such a treat they do not fly far.

Available for sale wasp traps factory-made, but they operate, in general, on the same principle as ordinary home-made ones, so if you have 5-10 minutes of free time, an unnecessary plastic bottle and "very skillful hands", then go for such purchases there will be no need.

But what I plan to look for in stores is a special poison for wasps. Having enjoyed such a bait, the insect dies after a while. Moreover, having taken a “treat” for relatives, the wasp brings death to other inhabitants of its nest. I read good reviews about RUBIT.

According to the reviews of summer residents, watermelon (option - melon) peels, watered insecticide without a pronounced odor (for example, Intavir). Such a bait can be left in any suitable place - after eating a poisonous treat, the wasps die.

How to get rid of a wasp nest

Then the question arises: what to do with the nest? If it is not destroyed, the wasps will multiply safely, and I am afraid we will have to flee from own house. So I went looking actionable advice how to get rid of hornet's nest. I share what I have found.

Right time

It is quite logical: getting rid of a hornet's nest in summer is much more difficult than in the cold season. In autumn or spring, the empty dwelling is liquidated without any problems and health risks (this is how large nests were removed from the ceiling beams in my house under construction).

If it is unbearable to wait for autumn, it is important to attack in right time days - at night. Firstly, at this time the inhabitants of the nest are at home, and secondly, they sleep. If you get rid of a half-empty nest during the day, you can forget peace for a long time: returning insects in search of their lost home can seriously poison the life of the offender.

Choice of strategy and "weapons"

There are many options for destroying nests, but many of them involve serious risks. Personally, I won’t dare to try them out, but for the especially brave (or desperate) I’ll still give, since I found it:

1. Water
Someone advises boiling water (pouring the nest, getting close to it), someone - ordinary water (getting to the hornet's den with a bucket of water and immersing the nest in it). Honestly, I have little idea how to do this if the insect habitat is located on a wall or in a corner. Yes, and under the roof (4 m in height, however!) Something does not pull to climb with a bucket of water or a hot kettle ...

2. Gasoline (kerosene, diesel fuel, WD-40, etc.)
Any of these liquids is recommended to be sprayed abundantly (you can use ordinary garden sprayer) wasp shelter - insects must die, and then we can remove the nest without any problems. What I don't like about this idea is that gasoline-kerosene-diesel fuel is highly flammable. And the house (and the bathhouse) are wooden ... In general, the wasps have not yet baked me so much.

By the way, there is information that kerosene on wasps no longer works the way it used to. Either the kerosene is not the same now, or the insects have mutated ... But there is a risk of simply angering them, and not achieving the desired effect. And they also say that winter diesel fuel is more effective than summer diesel (however, where can you find it in August? You need to stock up in advance ...)

Processing with such a tool and its result can be seen in the following short plot (the sound, however, is bad, but the essence of the method is clear even without words)

3. Dichlorvos, domestos, bleach ...
Household chemicals It is advised to treat a hornet's nest and places where insects accumulate. Someone recommends that you first put a plastic bag on the nest, and then spray poison into it, someone suggests that you first generously water the wasp dwelling with the chosen agent, and then pack it.

In the first case, there is a high risk of being bitten during a “combat operation”. However, choosing the second option, you should not relax either: from such a “weapon” the wasps do not die immediately, but rush about for some time, biting everyone who turns up, so putting a bag on the nest will not be much easier.

In general, there are conflicting reviews about dichlorvos: some are delighted with it, they say that it solves the problem on the first try; others write that the remedy was useless. But there are still noticeably more of the former, and there is one pattern: failure usually befalls those who decide to use the “newfangled” version of the drug, the dignity of which manufacturers declare the absence of bad smell. The effect, as it turns out, is also absent. Therefore, choosing dichlorvos as a means of fighting, give preference to the traditional "stinky" option.

The wasp family is extensive. Despite their desire to settle closer to people, peaceful coexistence with them because of their malicious activity impossible, so a person is forced to deal with these pests.

There are many methods of dealing with wasps. Most of them are aimed at the physical destruction of insects. These include the use of homemade traps, open baits, the destruction of nests using chemical and other means. The use of ecological folk remedies is aimed at scaring away wasps.

Reasons to get rid of wasps

Wasps do not have a strictly scientific definition. They are divided into two main categories: single and public.

Solitary individuals do not build nests. Social wasps live in families of up to several thousand insects, build strong nests, and are able to reproduce. The most common of the second category are paper wasps.

For their nests, insects choose well-protected places (under a roof, in loggias, in hollows of trees, in the ground). To get under the roof, they are able to gnaw through a tunnel through insulation, cement, wood paneling. Getting them out of there becomes impossible. Despite the fact that they are beneficial in destroying flies and other insects, the harm from them is more significant.

There are several reasons why you need to get rid of wasps:

  • wasp stings, especially hornet stings, are very painful. They are toxic, cause great swelling, and in people prone to allergic reactions, suffocation, anaphylactic shock and often lead to death;
  • wasps love landfills, rotting spoiled food, therefore they are carriers of gastrointestinal infections;
  • only a few insects in a short time can destroy the crop of one fruit tree or berry bush and the colony to destroy the whole crop of the vineyard;
  • wasps cause significant damage to apiaries, stealing honey and killing bees.

The use of traps and baits

Fighting wasps is a time-consuming and unsafe occupation, because any attempt to bring out a nest can be met with a furious rebuff from the residents. Therefore, it is important to choose the time for these works. The best time for this is spring, when the insects are not yet very active and are just starting to build nests. In early spring it is necessary to examine the most likely places for their nesting in the country house, in a private house (roofs, sheds, separate toilets, hollow trees, etc.). Paper wasps are most fond of settling in wooden houses, as they use wood to make paper, from which they build nests. Old nests must be removed and the attachment points wiped with kerosene, diesel fuel or gasoline - it’s definitely not possible to return to the treated areas of the wasp.

If the pests in the house are wound up in a small amount, then they will help get rid of them. homemade traps. They are made from plastic bottles. To do this, cut off the conical part, grease it with oil, place the bait in the bottle itself in the form of an odorous viscous mass (old jam, honey) or watermelon peel, melon with poison, close it with a cone (neck down), and the trap is ready. Wasps, getting inside, cannot get out of it and die. To increase the effectiveness of the bottle, you need to hold it open for a while. The fact is that wasps, like bees, have scouts who notify the family about the appearance of new sources of nectar, and as soon as several wasps begin to spin around, it can be closed. In this way, you can lime the entire colony.

Such traps can be hung close to the nest when it is not available. First, holes must be pricked in the upper part of the bottle with an awl so that air can pass through them and the smell of the bait spreads around. Such traps are used by all experienced beekeepers and growers.

As traps, you can use flat objects, smeared with an adhesive composition, with a bait placed in the middle. Insects, falling on them, stick and die. Adhesive tapes are commercially available for this purpose.

Many summer residents use open baits with insecticidal preparations. In their use, there is a risk that they can poison the bees and they must be installed in a place inaccessible to pets. By experimenting with "nectar", you can choose a composition to which the bees do not react. Wasps really like beer and fermented kvass with sugar. Styrofoam trays are well suited as a container - they have inclined edges, porous material and it is convenient for insects to take the bait.

Such baits should be exhibited not only in summer, but also in autumn, when the wasps begin to feed the brood, which will go into the winter, and poison it - something that the summer resident's hand could not reach is completed by chemistry.

Folk remedies - time-tested methods

You need to get rid of pests in the house with proven folk remedies. They are good because they are not dangerous for humans and pets. Most of them are aimed at repelling insects.

Wasps don't like the smell of vinegar. If you spray them with curtains, curtains and tulle, then insects will not fly into this room. Vinegar can be replaced with gum dissolved in water. Its smell will scare pests away from the house for a long time.

As a preventive measure against the settlement of insects, the room can be smoked with smoke by burning fresh spruce and pine needles in a portable potbelly stove.

Craftsmen have learned to make homemade insecticides. Peppermint oil diluted with water is a good example of this. It is used as a spray, when spraying wasps die from it.

The composition, consisting of 2 servings of celandine juice and 1 serving of St. John's wort juice, added to sweet bait, also serves as a good insecticide.

Soapy water kills pests. Once on them, she clings to her wings. Insects lose their ability to fly and die.

The use of chemicals

The use of chemistry always gives good results when persecuting any pests, but they also have a detrimental effect on people and pets. Therefore, they must be used strictly in accordance with the instructions.

The following drugs are effective in removing wasps:

  • Troapsil. Allows you to fight all types of insects.
  • Mosquitol. It is produced in aerosol cans and it is good for them to handle nests in non-residential premises.
  • Executioner and others.

Close proximity to such harmful and unpredictable insects as wasps is dangerous to health, and sometimes human life. If safe methods of getting rid of them were insufficient, and the risk of using dangerous methods seemed unjustified, you can always contact the SES or the Ministry of Emergencies, whose specialists will help get rid of unwanted neighbors. Please note that this service is paid.

Destruction of available nests

It is impossible to get rid of wasps by one persecution, therefore, only by destroying the hornet's nest, you can expect that this colony will not return to you. This operation is risky and cannot be avoided without the use of chemicals and necessary preparation.

First, you need to choose the time when to do it. The best time is early morning or late evening when the wasps are sleeping. Happy it under no circumstances should be done. At this time, only the guards remain in the nest, the rest fly away to work, and when they return home and do not find it, the angry ones will begin to rush about and take revenge on everyone who turns up under their "hot" sting. But even a well-chosen time does not guarantee that you will not run into an awake guard who, in a rage, can inflict up to 5-6 poisonous bites.

Therefore, care must be taken suitable clothing that will protect you. Uniforms should be made of dense fabric, only leather gloves (the hornet's textile sting easily pierces). The head should be especially protected (hornets hit the head and hands most of all). Mosquito nets, plastic shields, welder masks and always tight hats or hoods are suitable for this.

The use of chemicals before removing the nest is necessary in order to stupefy, disorientate insects. All of the above insecticides are suitable for this purpose. You can also use household chemicals:

  • dichlorvos;
  • domestos;
  • bleach.

After treating the hornet's nest with one of these preparations, it is necessary to wrap it plastic bag, remove, tie the bag and then burn. The action of chemicals is long, so wasps will not want to nest in the treated area for a long time. I.

A nest hanging on a thin branch can be drowned in a bucket of water: close the lid and get rid of it after a while, and treat the attachment point with potassium permanganate.

Destruction of nests located in inaccessible places

There are colonies of wasps that live underground, near withered trees, in their root system. Such nests can be filled with water, having previously sprinkled the entrances with poison. Moreover, this must be done with a large volume of water from the hose (a bucket of water will not stop them, but will make them angry, and you will be bitten). It is necessary to fill in until the water goes back, and then cover the entrances with some object.

In the absence of running water, you can use " gas attack". For this, the well-known carbide is used. Put a few pieces of it at the entrances, fill it with water and the resulting gas will fill all the underground tunnels. once.

Chemical preparations "Smelnet" and "Get" are produced in microcapsules, they act for a long time and have proven themselves very well in the fight against wasps that have settled under the roof and in other inaccessible places. You need to pour them at the entrances made by the wasps of the tunnels, and they themselves will bring the poison into the nest on their paws. In a week, the entire colony will die.

A nest located in a narrow gap in a drainpipe must be filled with dichlorvos or gasoline, closed with a board, and after a few hours it can be removed.

Good afternoon, Dear friends! Today, my mother called me and was very scared. In their country house wooden house wasps settled, it became impossible to stay in it. I didn’t think for a long time, I decided to see what the problem was and visit my relatives in one.

Arriving at the dacha, I was surprised, I had never seen so many wasps in my life. I remembered that it is necessary to deal with them in the dark. Having prepared the necessary preparations and clothes, he began to reap the right moment. And now he has arrived.

The struggle was not easy, but I still managed to defeat the striped insects. In this article you will learn: how to get rid of wasps in wooden house, which drugs are better to use, as well as what are the effective folk methods of struggle and the basic rules of behavior during it.

How to get rid of wasps in a wooden house - methods of struggle

The fight against wasps should begin when they have formed nests in the corners located near the place of residence of a person and his frequent stay:

How to get rid of wasps in a wooden house

  • Directly in the house;
  • In the attic of the house;
  • On the balcony;
  • Under the roof;
  • AT utility rooms and near them.

Female wasps have a sting, while males do not. Winter is experienced by a fertilized individual, hibernating. Other insects die. You need to understand that the wasp will not attack simply, only in the case of self-defense and protection of its home.

But no one can determine at what point the wasp decides that a person is threatening its nest. Often the whole wasp swarm flies out to protect the nest.

You can fight them with chemical insecticides and public funds. Along with this, there are special services that help to cope with the misfortune. by professional means(the cost of their services varies from 1.5 thousand rubles for apartments and from 2.5 thousand rubles for cottages).

Measures to get rid of wasps include:

  1. Destruction of nests;
  2. Catching insects in traps;
  3. Extermination with the help of baits with poison.

Chemical protection

With the help of an insecticidal agent, you can get rid of wasps, both in the summer cottage and in the apartment. The following drugs will help to cope with this task:

  • "Aktara",
  • "Diazion",
  • "Karbofos",
  • "Moskitol",
  • "Executioner",
  • "Tetrix".

You can buy them in specialized stores. The working solution is prepared strictly according to the instructions.

Insecticides that will help to overcome insects in their summer cottage:

  1. "Aktara",
  2. "Aktellik",
  3. "Aktofit",
  4. "BI-58",
  5. "Bitoxibacillin"
  6. "Decis",
  7. "Inta-vir",
  8. "Spark Double Effect",
  9. "Calypso",
  10. "Karbofos",
  11. "Kinmiks",
  12. "Commander",
  13. "Confidor",
  14. "Ant",
  15. "Nemabakt",
  16. "Nurell D",
  17. "Omite"
  18. "Fitoverm",
  19. "Fitoverm",
  20. "Angio".

For a positive effect, 200 ml of the solution is poured into a large plastic bag (it must be selected according to the size of the nest) and sharply dressed on the nest. It is important to tighten the bag well and tie it with a rope, tape, etc., in order to completely block the flight of insects.

In this state, the nest should be two to three days. After that, remove the package, before tapping it with a stick. Polyethylene is removed only if no buzzing is heard.

If the nest is not available, then the drug should be injected into the entrance to the dwelling - insecticides are sold in aerosols (Raid, Dichlorvos Neo, Raptor, Combat). Then the exit must be closed with a cloth soaked in insecticide. Do not open the hole for several days.

Another way to use insecticides is to make poison baits - a remedy (for example, Get, Delta Zone, Lambda Zone) is added to a sweet food or drink that is specially lured to wasps. Jam or sweetened beer is best suited for these purposes, and poison is also dripped onto watermelon (melon) peels.

The container with the bait is put in a prominent place where insects can definitely notice it, and the “delicacy” is poured in a few days until all the wasps in the house are destroyed.

The location of the bait with poison should be inaccessible to children and pets. Any individual in the process of destroying the nest will sting you, you cannot kill it - this will provoke aggression of the whole swarm.

The best way out in this situation is to leave, take the necessary measures for the bite (see below in the section "First aid for a bite") and return after a while, when the wasps calm down, to repeat the operation.

Folk remedies for getting rid of wasps

The simplest and fast way destruction of a hornet's nest is the impact on it by fire - the dwelling is doused with combustible material, such as gasoline, and set on fire. This method is effective, but it is not always and not everywhere possible to apply it.

For example, it is absolutely not suitable for those who are looking for options on how to get rid of wasps in a wooden house. If the nest is equipped with wooden building or under a wooden roof, it is strictly forbidden to use it, as it can cause a fire.

Some spray gasoline, kerosene, diesel fuel from a spray bottle into nests and entrances to dwellings. However, this is also best done away from wooden structures.

Another way is to place the nest in water. This method requires additional devices. For example, if the nest is located on the ceiling, then you can place it in a pot or bucket of water, pressing their edges tightly against the ceiling, and then substitute a stepladder or some furniture under them. A wasp dwelling should be in the water for at least 24 hours.

Work on getting rid of wasps is recommended to be carried out at night, when all of them are in the nest and are inactive. Specialty stores sell traps designed to catch wasps. It is also possible to make them yourself - you can find many videos on the Internet that talk about the technology. Make a trap out of plastic bottle thus:

  • remove the cover;
  • cut off the top (1/3);
  • a solution is poured into the lower part, which should lure the bees (fermented or fresh jam, beer with the addition of an insecticide);
  • the upper cut-off part is inserted into the lower neck down so that it fits snugly - according to the funnel principle;
  • hang on the wall, window, under the roof.

Once every few days, the fluid should be renewed. You can also buy at the store or make your own glue trap. Glue is applied to the cardboard sheet, for example RaTrap, Alt, and on top - a spoonful of jam or rotting fruit.

Wasps, trying to eat, will stick to the cardboard and get bogged down.

Whatever methods - chemical or folk - you decide to use, be sure to take care of personal safety measures: carry out work in tight clothes covering your arms and legs, in gloves and a beekeeper's mask (as an option - a hood with a mosquito net on your face).

Other methods of struggle

Wasps don't like the smell of vinegar. You can spray curtains on the windows with it, textiles in the house and insects will soon fly away from your house, trying not to approach it. But, vinegar has a sharp sour smell, so it will interfere with life not only for wasps, but also for you.

This method of dealing with wasps can be useful for a summer house or a barn; in a residential building, the event will be irrelevant. You can fight wasps with the help of Velcro tapes, which are hung in places where insects accumulate. Ribbons can be saved from insects in the midst of their anger, but you should not hope that it will turn out to catch everyone.

Wasp traps are made from plastic bottles. Take a bottle, cut off the shoulders, pour sweet compote into it, preferably sour, and leave it where the wasps fly.

Turn the bottle over so that the compote does not spill and there is an entrance for insects. The wasp climbs in, but can no longer get out and dies. It will be possible to catch a small number of wasps in this way, but not completely destroy them.

There is another interesting method of dealing with insects. You need to take a few slices of melon or watermelon, spray it with insect poison that has no smell, and put it away from the house on the site. Soon this place will be strewn with dead wasps.

If there are birds or animals on the site, try not to let them find your treat, otherwise you can kill pet.

When a wasp nest is found close to the ground in the evening, you need to pour boiling water over it. One saucepan or bucket is not enough here, you need 20 liters very hot water. After that, the nest is abundantly covered with earth and the soil is compacted. Usually this is enough to kill the entire family of wasps.

You need to work quickly, if some wasps escape before you bury the nest, there will be a lot of bites. Given that insects don't die when they bite a person, you could be seriously hurt. To destroy wasps, you can use poisonous substances such as Diflofos, you need to spray directly into the nest.

It is desirable that at this time no one went outside from the house, all windows and doors were tightly closed. You need to work in protective clothing, a respirator, gloves, a mask against bees.

The fact is that insects do not die from poison immediately, in order not to be bitten, you need to defend yourself in advance. The nest was found at a height, but in an accessible place? Take a bucket or bowl the size of the nest and fill it with water. Remember to wear protective clothing and a mosquito net. Leave a bowl of jam or syrup nearby.

This is necessary so that the wasps that are not in the nest now do not interfere. They will flock to the delicacy, but they will not care about you. Approach the nest with a container of water, quickly dip the nest completely into the water and wait for 10-15 minutes. During this time, the wasps that were in the nest will die, and the nest itself will get wet.

You remove it into a container, cover it with a lid and leave it. The place where the nest was should be well cleaned and treated with odorless poison. Dispose of dead wasps with water.

When it is not convenient to reach the nest and it is inconvenient to work with the container, you can go the other way. Take a large package the size of the nest, tape or buttons. Work in a protective suit and a mosquito net, put jam nearby. You quickly get to the nest and dip it into the bag, fasten the bag to the ceiling or a wooden beam with tape or buttons.

Carefully cut off the corner of the bag and spray a can of insect poison inside, quickly seal the corner. In this form, leave the nest for 2 hours. After the insects die, the nest is removed and disposed of.

The place where it used to be attached, scrape off with a scraper, treat with hydrogen peroxide, then with potassium permanganate.

Next to this place hang sticky tapes for wasps that miraculously remained alive or flew somewhere at the time of processing. Spray the area with an unscented poison. Quality processing according to the scheme described above, it should scare away insects from your home for a long time.

Getting rid of a hornet's nest

To reliably breed wasps, you need to get rid of a swarm that has settled in a nest somewhere near the place of their constant activity. Among the striped aggressors there are single ones. They are harder to fight. Often they settle in earthen burrows or gnaw their way into wooden structures.

Having developed jaws, they pose a real threat to timber structures. Numerous moves contribute to dilapidation. Therefore, it is important to get rid of wasps in a wooden house at the first suspicion.

Nest search

It will take time to find the nest. Usually it settles in places inaccessible to humans. At the same time, all kinds of cracks and niches are the first to be suspected. That is why the fight against wasps in the country is difficult: there are too many secluded places.

Championship for:

  1. Ancillary non-residential buildings and under the roof are the most favorite places for building a nest;
  2. Waves of slate;
  3. Structural ledges: balconies, verandas, loggias, pipes, communications;
  4. Building cladding.

Carefully look at:

  • old trees with hollows and crevices;
  • construction garbage;
  • places where firewood is stored;
  • bushes.
It cannot be ruled out that earthen wasps bother you. Their place of deployment is directly in the ground. If the examination fails, then it makes sense to donate products with strong smell.

For example, fish. They put it in an open place and carefully observe where the wasps fly from and where - this will be the entrance to the nest. Usually the search operation brings results quickly enough.

Best Time to Eliminate

During the winter, the wasps hibernate. Destroy in the cold season, this also includes early spring and late autumn - the most best option which excludes all risks. This is possible if the location of the nest was previously discovered.

In the summer it is harder to get rid of them, but it is easier to find a wasp residence. Before planning how to get rid of pests, we must remember: wasps are diurnal.

At night, they lose their aggressiveness and gather all in one place. So the best time to bring wasps comes after sunset. During the day there is a risk of getting into an unpleasant situation: some of the wasps are destroyed, and the rest arrange a real terror around.

The choice of means to fight

When you have found a nest and have planned a time, you need to decide on a wasp killer. It is better to give preference to special preparations - insecticides of contact, nerve or intestinal action. It is reliable and guarantees prolonged absence wasps on the site.

But if there is nothing at hand, you can try something from folk experience. Reasonably and according to the situation:

  1. Boiling water.
  2. This advice is only suitable for earthen wasps. Or, if the nest is attached under a roof, and you are absolutely sure that you can carefully cut directly into a bucket of boiling water.

  3. Gasoline or other fuels and lubricants.
  4. Recommended as a spray. Provided that the nest is attached to non-flammable surfaces. Popular tips for burning wasps are actually very dangerous: they can easily fly out in the process and arrange an act of retribution.

  5. Chlorine-containing detergents. It is recommended that striped aggressors be sprayed, poured or drowned in liquids in whole nests.
  6. Carbide.
  7. Fall asleep a little in the found passage, fill it with water and isolate it with something. Follow the safety rules. Do not inhale toxic fumes.

  8. Cement.
  9. If a thin crevice leads to the nest and it is impossible to destroy the wasps, seal it with a thick layer of cement. Construction foam is not suitable - they will simply gnaw their way out.

The danger that comes from wasps and their aggressiveness often play against them. But the destruction of wasp nests must be approached reasonably and carefully. If you are not confident in your abilities and the chosen remedy, it is better to use the services of professionals.

Personal safety measures when getting rid of wasps

Wasps deserve the glory of the most aggressive pests. Before you destroy wasps with your own hands, you need to in general terms have an idea about them.

  • Wasps attack any moving object. The zone of increased activity lies within a radius of up to 500 m from the location of the nest. Therefore, it does not make sense to make sudden movements in an attempt to brush it off. It will only get worse.
  • When bitten, wasps secrete into environment signal substance. Feeling this smell, the rest of the swarm flock to help.
  • Even a dead insect, not for long, but retains the ability to sting. Please note that after a wasp sting, they do not die immediately and may well return to attack again.

The increased toxicity of the poison that striped aggressors inject into their prey causes allergies in 30% of cases. At the same time, even if there was no reaction before, with each bite the risk of its occurrence increases.

To get rid of a hornet's nest, you need to follow the precautionary rules:

  1. Cover as much of your body as possible with tight, cuffed clothing. Tuck boots and protective gloves under them.
  2. Pay special attention to the head. The ideal outfit will be a special suit with a mask, like a beekeeping one. For lack of it, you can put on a hat with a brim or a baseball cap, and put a mosquito net over it and tuck it into the neck outerwear.

  3. Plan an event after sunset. Then the wasps are more likely to be in the nest in in full force and will not be able to resist.
  4. For illumination, take a flashlight with a red lens. Or stretch on a regular red transparent film. Wasps are not susceptible to this part of the spectrum.
  5. If one or two wasps flew out of the nest, do not kill them and make sudden movements.
  6. They will wake up the whole swarm, then getting rid of the hornet's nest will no longer be realistic. It is best to postpone the destruction until they calm down.
  7. Warn your neighbors about your plans. They should at least close windows and doors.

Considering how difficult it is to get rid of "militant neighbors", first analyze whether this is necessary. It's one thing if a hornet's nest is nearby or in the house itself.

It is clear that this is a constant risk. But on the site they will even be useful: they are true allies for the fight against beetles, caterpillars, flies and other pests. With a temporary conflict of interest, it is better to scare them away with fumigators or spirals.

Getting rid of striped insects

If you find that the wasps are circling around you too often, you need to urgently check if they have made a nest somewhere near the house or in the house itself. If, unfortunately, you find a hornet's nest, then you need to get rid of it as soon as possible. Wasps can not only sting painfully, but are also carriers dangerous infections.

In addition, you can never predict their reaction to the appearance of someone near the nest. You can walk past their nest safely for weeks, but one day they decide to sting for no reason.

And, a completely harmless walk past, say, a barn with a hornet's nest can turn into a tragedy if they suddenly decide to attack in a swarm. Below you will find out if there are wasps in the house, how to get rid of them!

Wasps like to build their homes in close proximity to food sources. Therefore, most often, they build their nests right on the house or not far from it. To build a nest, they most often choose a part of the building where you can easily attach a nest and, at the same time, no one will bother them too much:

  • under the roof of a house or barn;
  • in the attic;
  • in utility rooms;
  • in any buildings on the site;
  • under the skin, if it does not fit snugly;
  • in hedges;
  • in a pile of old rubbish, etc.
Therefore, if you find wasps, be sure to carefully check all the buildings on your site and the little-visited parts of the house and niches to be sure that you have found all the wasp nests.

Important! If you didn’t manage to see the nest, but the number of wasps suggests that they still live somewhere nearby, then put a piece of meat or fish on the street and follow the wasps. They will most likely fly between their food and their home, and you will easily spot their settlement.

Folk methods

Folk remedies work quite effectively, and a variety of methods will help you choose the one that is most acceptable and convenient for you.

  1. Fumigation with smoke or aerosols is effective method and helps to drive the wasps out of their home, and then safely get rid of the nest.
  2. The use of natural ingredients (such as gums) can also keep wasps away from their home.
  3. Kerosene, gasoline, or other refined petroleum products have long been used to kill wasps, but recently wasps have become less susceptible to kerosene.
  4. Flooding the nest with water or boiling water will help to quickly get rid of the unpleasant neighborhood.
  5. Nest destruction is a rather dangerous but quick method.
  6. By building a bait, you will catch a lot of wasps in it.

How to get rid of wasps in the house - by destroying the nest

You can get rid of wasps simply by removing the nest itself, the method, of course, is quite dangerous, but fast and effective. How to get rid of wasps under the roof of the house with a package:

  • You need to take a strong plastic bag;
  • Throw it on the nest, completely covering it with it;
  • Burn the nest.

We get rid of with the help of the package and dichlorvos:

  1. It is necessary to quickly spray the entire surface of the nest with dichlorvos (or other substance) and quickly throw a plastic bag over it, tying the attachment point;
  2. Wait 1 or 2 hours;
  3. Tear off the nest, close the bag quickly and tightly;
  4. Burn the nest.

Processing the nest with kerosene:

  • It is necessary to take a large enema, syringe or sprayer and fill it with kerosene;
  • Having moved to a safe distance, you need to process the hornet's nest completely;
  • If the wasps did not fly away from the nest the first time, then the procedure must be repeated until they fly away;
  • When the wasps leave the dwelling, it can be removed and burned. Try not to inhale the kerosene yourself.

We use water in the fight

If the nest is located in such a way that you can place it in a bucket of water, then this method will quickly get rid of the dangerous wasp neighborhood.

  1. So, you must dress in tight clothes that completely cover all parts of the body; Get a full bucket of water;
  2. Raise the bucket so that the nest is completely submerged in water;
  3. Keep the nest in the bucket for 5-10 minutes, during which time it will have time to get wet and the wasps will drown;
  4. Remove the sodden nest and destroy it.

Make sure that someone can replace you if your hands get tired holding the bucket or build some kind of stand under it.

AT rainy weather, usually all the wasps are in the hive and they are inactive, so it is easier to deal with them without the risk of being stung. There are two ways that can be effective in the rain:

  • Pour boiling water over the nest, you can from the kettle. Try to protect yourself from scalding with boiling water. Boiling water will need a large amount and immediately. The nest can then be removed.
  • Knock the nest into a bucket or large container of water where they will drown.

Fighting wasps in a wooden house - with the help of baits

Lures can be quite effective method to reduce the number of wasps, but it is quite difficult to completely remove the colony by this method.

  1. Application from watermelon peels.
  2. Spread watermelon or melon rinds moistened with an unscented insecticide gel in several places on the site, including on the compost heap. Wasps will eat the crust and die from the action of the chemical.

  3. Bottle lure:
  • We take plastic big bottle, cut off the top with a neck (about ¼);
  • Pour something sweet there (the more viscous this substance is, the better, for example, old sour jam, stale fresh meat, beer with sugar, etc.);
  • We add there an ampoule of any insecticide (it is possible from any insects);
  • We close the bottle with the cut off part, turning it upside down;
  • We put this bait on the site and wait until the wasps fly into it. Having eaten such a treat, the wasps simply cannot get out of the bottle or die, even having managed to get out.

Methods of struggle - with the help of improvised means

You can try to get rid of wasps with improvised means that are always in the house or, if necessary, buy something missing.

How to get rid of wasps in the attic at home

  • It is necessary to make a solution of equal amounts of cypermethrin and Actellik (5 ml of each substance per 1 liter of water);
  • Spray the wasp settlement and cover with a bag;
  • After 2–3 hours, you can carefully cut off the nest by tying the bag tightly;
  • Destroy the nest.

This method is suitable if the wasps settled in the ground or under the floor, in which case you just need to fill the entrance to the nest with a solution. If necessary, repeat the procedure after a while.

On the roof of the house

  1. It is necessary to spray or douse the nest with a product;
  2. Cover with a bag, tying it at the base;
  3. Leave for a while, up to 3 hours;
  4. Cut the nest and destroy it.

Dichlorvos works well for this method, but only the usual one, which is odorless, does not work well on wasps, according to reviews experienced summer residents. You can also use Domestos, Bleach or WD-40.

The method of fumigating the nest with pine needles smoke

If the nest is found indoors and you have a potbelly stove, you can use this method:

  • Melt the potbelly stove with fresh needles;
  • Place the stove so that the chimney is directed directly to the nest;
  • Smoke the nest until all the wasps fly out of the house;
  • After the wasps fly away, the nest can be removed.

Destroy with gum

  1. Take the red rope;
  2. Thickly smear it with gum (adhesive resin in places of damage on fruit trees);
  3. The rope must be hung near the entrance to the nest;
  4. The wasps should leave their home in a few weeks.

If the roof is made of heat-resistant materials, then you can simply spray the nest with hairspray and set it on fire. The varnish will close the wasps in the nest, and the flame will quickly destroy them.

Mounting foam

Everything is very simple, if you have a spray bottle lying around mounting foam, then simply pour foam over the entire nest from all sides, including the entrance. Leave for a few weeks, during which time the wasps will starve to death and the nest can be removed.

To prevent wasps from flying into the house, you can spray curtains, doors, windows, etc. with vinegar.

This smell will scare away the wasps and they will stop flying into the house. Processing must be repeated as the vinegar weathers. A hornet's nest in the ground can be destroyed by a bay with a mortar of concrete. True, then the concrete cap will have to be removed along with the nest.

We remove the hornet's nest in an inaccessible place

If the nest is in a hard-to-reach place, you can still get rid of the wasps inhabiting it, you just have to make a little more effort.

  • With the help of a bag:
  1. You can cover the nest with a plastic bag, tightly gluing the edges of the bag to the surface so that the wasps do not have the opportunity to fly out;
  2. Then you need to cut off one of the ends of the bag and quickly spray some of the aerosols (dichlorvos, WD-40) or a spray solution into the resulting hole, after which close the hole;
  3. The entrance to the nest must also be closed;
  4. Leave wasp house for a few hours and then it can be removed.
  • With carbide.
  • If possible, try to stick a small piece of carbide into one of the socket holes and then pour water over it. From the poisonous gas released during the interaction of carbide with water, wasps die very quickly.

    To protect yourself from inhaling this gas, immediately after pouring water, move to a safe distance or cover the nest with a bag.
  • How to get rid of wasps in the house between the logs. This method requires patience.
    1. Try to suck out as many wasps as you can with your vacuum cleaner;
    2. Then spray any flying insect spray or WD-40 into the hornet's nest inlet;
    3. Close the entrance to the nest.

    If not all the wasps die, then repeat the procedure with a new entrance to their nest between the logs.

    Precautions

    Fighting wasps on your own is quite dangerous, so you need to be as careful as possible when carrying out any manipulations.

    1. Get rid of the wasp nest, if time permits, it is best when the wasps are still hibernating (autumn, winter, spring).
    2. If you find a nest when the wasps are already active, then try to do all the manipulations with it in the late evening or at night, after the wasps flock to the nest for a night's sleep and are not so aggressive.
    3. When it rains, the wasps are inactive and easier to deal with.
    4. To protect yourself, it is best to wear a beekeeper's protective suit with gloves and a mask.
    5. But if you don’t have such a suit, then at least put on tight clothes that completely cover the body, gloves and a gauze bandage on your face.

      Important! You need to approach the wasp nesting site slowly, carry out all the manipulations without sudden movements and screams.

    6. If the wasps began to fly out of the nest during the procedure, slowly move away from this place and hide in some kind of building. Again, work on getting rid of wasps can be started after a few hours, when the wasps calm down.
    7. Never kill individual wasps, even if they try to sting you. At the moment of death, they will release substances that can provoke the entire colony to attack you.
    8. So that the wasps do not return the next year, the trace of the nest at the place of its attachment must be cleaned very well ( sandpaper, scrape off with a knife, etc.) and treat with some kind of antiseptic (potassium permanganate, alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, etc.)
    9. If you have used aggressive or chemical substances, then you need to wash your clothes and take a shower yourself to wash off the remnants of the substances.
