Self-installation of a gas convector. Registration of permission to install a heating convector Gas convector permission to install

One of the most rational ways solution to the problem of heating in a small residential area is to install gas convector, which is an autonomous heating device. Many are interested in what restrictions exist for the installation and operation of such heaters. Can they be installed in a city apartment or a wooden house, does it require enhanced ventilation of the room. These questions and some more, such as a list of work that you can do yourself when installing a gas convection heater, will be discussed below.

How does a gas convector work?

Any convection heaters, regardless of the energy source used, operate according to the same principle, therefore their design is somewhat similar.

There is a thin-walled metal box, which not only has a protective function, blocking access to the hot compartment where the gas burns, but also directs air flows, sucking in cold masses from below and releasing hot ones from above. For this, protective boxes have a lattice structure at the top and bottom, while the rest of the surface is solid.

Thus, the metal panel covering the "innards" of the gas convector has a relatively low temperature(up to 60-70˚С), practically not taking part in the heating process. The heating of the room occurs mainly due to the heating of the air when it passes near the hot combustion chamber, that is, due to the convection process. The low temperature of the protective panel also has the following advantages:

  • no risk of thermal injury;
  • the ability to mount on the wall with most types of its finishes;

Heated air currents rise to the ceiling, forcing down more cold air, which, having reached the floor, as it cools down, again falls into the cavity of the convector. Thus, a kind of circulation of air flows is formed in the heated room, which ensures uniform heating even of those areas that are located far from the heater.

The internal structure of the gas convection appliance

Under outer panel These heaters have:

  • combustion chamber, which is also a heat exchanger;
  • a complex of protective and temperature control automation;
  • coaxial pipe that goes outward from the heat exchanger-furnace.

The compartment where the gas mixed with air burns is hermetically connected to the chimney, so contact with the internal airspace with serviceable devices is excluded. Thanks to this design of the combustion chamber, additional ventilation of the room is not needed.

Gas exchange occurs through a double pipe that is brought out. Hot combustion products are discharged along the inner section, while air enters the furnace along the outer perimeter. Because of this device outer wall the chimney does not heat up, so no additional fire insulation is required, even when in contact with the wall of a wooden house.

The operation of the gas convector is fully automated. With your own hands, you only need to kindle the igniter using the built-in piezoelectric element and set the desired temperature regime by turning the knob to a certain position.

Further, the temperature is maintained automatically in a small range (2-3˚С), which occurs by turning on / off the gas supply to the main burner. Protective automation blocks the access of the energy carrier to the furnace in such cases:

  • low gas pressure on the furnace;
  • blocking the access of oxygen to the combustion chamber;
  • mechanical blocking of the exhaust pipe.

Where is the installation of a gas convector preferred?

The disadvantage of such heaters is their ability to heat only one isolated room. Heating of two rooms is also possible, but only if they are connected by a non-closing opening (an arch, for example). If you need full heating of three or more separate rooms, you need to install one convector in each of them. Therefore, if the housing is multi-room, it would be preferable to equip a water heating system.

A gas heater on bottled gas, a convection-type device has proven itself well in conditions of small-sized housing or some auxiliary rooms. Therefore, their installation and operation are expedient in:

  • small-sized private houses, including wooden ones;
  • small apartments;
  • country houses;
  • baths.

Also, such equipment is often installed in small commercial premises or offices.

How to properly install a convector

It is not advisable to do it yourself to connect to the gas supply, since this process does not tolerate mistakes, moreover, it will lead to sanctions from the gas service. To do this, you should call the master from the specialized enterprise serving this area.

The installation of the device itself can be done by hand, saving on the services of gas workers. Moreover, the process is simple, with the exception of the time-consuming preparation of the chimney hole.

Before you install, you should correctly determine the place of its installation. Usually they try to place it under the window, but this is not necessary. If the window sill is low, the product will not fit under it, especially since in the fixed state the heater must be at least 20-25 cm from the floor and the same amount to the window sill. Therefore, it will be normal if the convector is fixed on the side of the window opening, but at the same time no closer than 30 cm to the corner of the room.

Calculating right place, you can get to work. If the product is heavy better installation do with helper:

  • The heater assembly with a coaxial pipe is applied to the place chosen for installation, and the boundaries of the hole for the chimney are marked.
  • To equip the outlet for the pipe, you will need a puncher with various nozzles. During this work, a lot of dust is generated, which should be provided for, protecting interior items from dust as much as possible. To make the outlet for the pipe more accurate, it makes sense to first drill through holes around the perimeter with a drill, and only then gouge out the excess with a “blade” nozzle. If the wall is wooden, it will be more difficult. Here the "shovel" will not help. Will have to drill through special drills(feathers), and then clean with a chisel.
  • When the outlet for the pipe is ready, the protective panel is removed and the product is applied close to the wall, while the chimney is inserted into the prepared hole. Now you need to mark the attachment points, while controlling the correct position of the coaxial pipe. It should be located strictly horizontally or with a very slight upward slope.
  • The convector is fixed to the wall with suitable fasteners (dowels or self-tapping screws if the wall is wooden) and a decorative panel is put on.
  • The chimney is exposed to correct position(can be spread with chopsticks), after which the gap between the pipe and the wall is sealed with polyurethane foam.
  • It is put on the pipe and fixed with self-tapping screws. protective cap(prevents wind from blowing the burner out).
  • After the foam has set, the excess is cut off, and the perimeter around the chimney is ennobled with a finishing material corresponding to the design of the facade.

That's the whole installation. The process, in fact, is not complicated, so if you have the right tool available to almost everyone. It remains to invite a specialist to connect the gas convective heater to the gas supply and make a test run of the device into operation. The convector is very convenient to use and efficient in heating, so you will definitely not be disappointed with its work.

Gas convector - a type of gas heating equipment. The device has a common type of construction and a wide range of thermal output (models). Its use is often due to the lack of a stable water supply, low cost natural gas compared with electrical energy(electric heaters are also installed in the absence of water). Installing a gas convector is a simple process, but it has a number of features.

The principle of operation of the gas device is based on the combustion of natural gas and the heating of the air circulating through the design of the convector. The air flow moves along closed loop– room-convector-room.

The gas convector consists of the following main structural elements:

  • Metal housing equipped with grilles for air circulation;
  • Heat exchanger with combustion chamber;
  • Air supply fan (smoke exhaust);
  • Room air circulation fan;
  • Coaxial or separate chimney;
  • Gas burner built into the heat exchanger;
  • brackets for wall mounting(often purchased separately);
  • Control and management system.

The heat exchanger has high-quality fins made of metal plates to increase the heat exchange area. Built into the heat exchanger gas-burner- it burns gas and heats the heat exchanger. For combustion, the chamber is fed with a fan outdoor air. The same fan serves as a blower to remove combustion products. Air and flue gases move through coaxial chimney(pipe in a pipe) or separate pipes - air is supplied through one, smoke is removed through the other.

A fan is installed inside the casing, which circulates the internal volume of room air through the convector casing (along the surface of the heat exchanger). There are two types of installation of convectors - rigid (with a firm fixation of the device) and on a wall bracket with the possibility of changing the direction of air supply to the room. Mounting on a bracket is possible only with separate chimneys, which are connected to the device with flexible connectors - this allows a slight reorientation of the air flow direction.

Some manufacturers equip gas convectors with adjustable grilles (such as shutters) for manual or automatic change in the direction of heated air supply to the room.

Control gas appliances produced with remote control. The system is equipped with the necessary safety sensors and blocking limit modes.

Gas convector installation, gas pipeline connection

Installation of a gas convector is strictly linked to the implementation of a gas project. Any equipment that uses natural gas in its operation requires a permit and the implementation of a gas project.

To obtain permission to install a gas convector, you must submit an application to the organization responsible for the operation of the gas pipeline to which the equipment is planned to be connected. Independent re-installation of gas pipelines is strictly prohibited.

The operating mode of this type of installation is characterized by high speed heating and cyclicity, so the installation of a gas convector in an apartment or a private house most likely will not create comfortable conditions residence. Temperature fluctuations in the time interval will reach decent values.

It will also not be possible to install a gas convector with your own hands - you need to have a special license for this type of work. Installation of convectors in wooden houses requires compliance with safety measures building structures from wood from contact with elements of the device that have a high temperature. This interaction of wood and hot metal can lead to fire.

The most popular area of application for gas convectors is heating. large volumes premises - production shops, hangars, warehouses and so on.

After receiving the application and processing it, technical conditions for connection to the gas pipeline are issued. They indicate the connection point, gas consumption and other indicators. Based specifications the gas project needs to be completed.

The gas project indicates the installation locations of the devices, the methods of their connection (subject to the requirements for the installation of gas convectors), the configuration of the supply gas pipeline. The project is coordinated with the organization - the owner of the gas pipeline. Only after that proceed to the installation of equipment.

The installation process itself is quite simple. Holes for coaxial or separate chimneys are equipped in the wall; when supplied from an external gas pipeline, there is a hole for gas inlet. The convector body is mounted on the brackets. Smoke exhaust structures are connected to the body.

The holes through which the chimneys pass are sealed with non-combustible material. In the case of wall-mounted installation of the device (not on a remote bracket), the wall is also insulated from the convector with fireproof materials with low thermal conductivity (asbestos cloth, and so on). Connected to the convector electrical wiring(220 V). Implemented electrical connection convector (built-in fans are powered by electric motors). A remote control panel for convector operation is installed in the accessibility zone.

For the installation of a gas pipeline, you need to attract an organization that has a license for the corresponding type of work. The installation of the gas pipeline is carried out by electric arc welding, the laying of the gas pipeline is carried out in compliance with the requirements of the project.

After the installation work for gas, pressure testing and delivery of the gas pipeline to the representative of the organization of the owner of the gas pipeline is carried out. Checking the joints of pipelines for tightness is carried out by washing. If leaks are detected, they are eliminated and a new tightness test is performed. After the successful completion of the work, an act of acceptance of the gas pipeline is drawn up.

Test run of the convector

After carrying out all the above measures, a test run of the gas convector is carried out. It is carried out according to the instructions attached to the installed equipment.

The gas pipeline is connected to the convector using a special type of flexible connection. Power is supplied to the unit. The "Start" command is given from the remote control. In this case, the burner is ignited and the built-in fans are turned on.

At the initial stage, the operation of the equipment may be accompanied by foreign odors. This is most commonly caused by excess paint fading and lubricants in areas close to hot surfaces.

The stability of the installation is being monitored. During operation, there should be no smell of gas, smoke, extraneous sounds. The direction of air supply is adjusted, the temperature regime is set.

The advantage of gas convectors is the absence of the need to build a heating system, the absence of water in the equipment. This prevents leakage and the cost of installing pipelines with heating devices. The main disadvantages are the length of the gas convector installation, the presence of hot surfaces and the possibility of leakage of natural gas.

Modern Spectrum heating appliances very wide. One of these devices is a gas convector. Market heating systems saturated with gas convectors various firms. In this article, we will take a closer look at the process of installing a gas convector.

The cost and quality of a gas convector

Prices for gas convectors are formed depending on the manufacturer and the power of the device. The cost of the device is also affected by its quality. So, a gas convector of one Ukrainian manufacturer, bought last year for 900 hryvnias, functioned smoothly for a year. In total, there were two such devices in operation. One of them failed after working for 5 months. Further repair of the device turned out to be unprofitable. It was more expedient to buy a new gas convector than to repair the old one. The second such device worked all heating season and was disabled. With the onset of the next heating season, it was not possible to start the device. Its repair was also extremely unprofitable.

What can not be said about two Turkish-made gas convectors. These devices were purchased for 1000 and 1500 hryvnias (200 and 300 dollars at last year's exchange rate). Different in power, but from the same manufacturer, they successfully worked the entire heating season, were turned off and put back into operation with the onset of cold weather without problems.

Thus, you see a striking difference in quality from different manufacturers.

Types of gas convectors

Convectors differ from each other only in design and the presence / absence of a fan, which, blowing the combustion chamber, drives warm air faster.

Gas convectors vary in power. Power affects the volume of the heated room.

The principle of operation of the gas convector

Natural gas is burned in a cast iron combustion chamber. The device has a combined inlet and outlet pipe. Through it, oxygen necessary for combustion enters the gas convector, and combustion products exit. For combustion, the device does not require an impressive chimney that provides draft.

So, having finished with the theoretical part, let's move on to practice and find out how to install a gas convector.

Installation of a gas convector

Materials and tools:

  • gas convector
  • Metal-plastic pipe with metal fittings
  • pipe cutter
  • Wrench for tightening threaded fittings
  • Sanitary Silicone
  • gas cock
  • Perforator with crown blade
  • Drill with a drill
  • crosshead screwdriver
  • High temperature polyurethane foam
  • High temperature silicone
  • Plastic dowels and screws for them.
  1. The first and most important step is to choose a place to install the convector. According to GOSTs, the convector must be installed under the window. What it is connected with, I honestly do not know. And besides, I saw convectors installed at a great distance from the windows. Perhaps the principle works here: for money, any GOST will be customized for you. We will not go into these details. We are interested in the process itself.
  2. So, having chosen a place for installation, you should try on the convector to the place. This can be done using a measuring tape, or simply by placing the convector against the wall and marking the holes.
  3. The next point is important - the gas inlet. If it is located at the bottom of the convector, leave enough space for a pipe with a clamp fitting to be connected to it.
  4. After that, we punch a through hole in the wall along the diameter of the exhaust pipe with a perforator. This is the most laborious process. Get ready to dust the room. Lay everything you can in advance, plastic wrap or rag.
  5. After that, drill holes for fasteners and hammer dowels into them.
  6. Paste exhaust pipe into the hole in the convector. Treat the joint with high temperature silicone. Holding the convector in your hands, push the pipe through the hole in the wall. Fasten the convector to the dowels in the wall with self-tapping screws. This process is also quite difficult. The convector is quite heavy. In general, there are many opinions about the process described by me. Here everyone acts as he pleases, but my recommendations have been repeatedly tested in practice and are the most reliable. As a result of the work done, you will get a convector screwed to the wall and an outlet pipe sticking out into the street.
  7. Seal the gaps between the pipe and the wall with high temperature foam.
  8. Put on the end of the pipe a special cap included in the kit. It serves to prevent the blowing of the burner by the wind. The cap is mounted on self-tapping screws, also included in the kit.

The convector is installed, let's deal with the gas supply.

Gas supply to the convector

  1. GOST requires that the pipe suitable for the convector run along the street. We will act in accordance with it. If the gas pipe has a pre-extracted threaded connection, then we screw on it a gas valve that shuts off the gas supply to the convector. If the pipe does not have such a branch, it will be necessary to make it. Such work should be carried out by a gas welder. Preferably a specialist from Gorgaz or a similar office.
  2. When the gas cock is installed, you should carry out metal-plastic pipe to the convector. Using a tape measure, we calculate the length of the pipe, determine the presence of fittings.
  3. We buy pipes and fittings. When buying a pipe and fittings, find out if these pipes and fittings have a certificate of conformity for this type of work.
  4. Now lay the pipe, fasten it to the clips every meter. To install the clips, drill holes in the wall.
  5. When installing fittings, lubricate the pipe and fitting with silicone. This will provide additional sealing. In addition, the silicone will serve as a lubricant and facilitate pipe installation.

The result of the work should be a convector hanging on the wall, an exhaust pipe with a cap and a gas pipe laid and connected to the convector.

Trial run of the gas convector

  1. Before starting, it is necessary to open the gas cock and go through all the joints of the fittings, threaded connections with a brush moistened with an aqueous solution of soap or shampoo. If you notice bubbles rising, turn off the faucet immediately and fix the leak.
  2. After checking the joints, start the convector. To do this, hold down the gas supply button for about a minute, allowing the gas to pass through the pipes and enter the combustion chamber.
  3. Click on the piezo igniter. A spark will ignite the gas and a cheerful, blue flame will flare up in the firebox.
  4. Adjust the operation of the convector to a comfortable temperature.

During the first hours of operation, it is allowed to have bad smell burning oil. The convector is new, the combustion chamber is burning. If the smell doesn't go away long time, you should turn off the gas, and carefully inspect the junction of the exhaust pipe with the outlet of the convector.

Attention: All of the above work is preferably carried out by a specialist. After all, self-installation of the convector deprives you of the right to warranty repair device. In addition, the convector must be accepted by Gorgaz or another similar service. There must be a tie-in project. And all necessary permissions and the conclusion of the Commission for acceptance of the device into operation.

Nevertheless, having this knowledge, you will be able to control the installation process of the gas convector by the specialists of the operating office.

Warmth for your home.

But consumers know little about what a gas convector is.

A gas heat convector is a device that is able to generate heat by burning gas. The design of the unit is quite simple.

  1. Burner. An igniter is connected to it.
  2. A heat exchanger whose task is to give off heat to the air passing through it. For heating more air, the heat exchanger is made ribbed (to increase the area).
  3. System for removal of combustion products.
  4. The automation system is installed for safety purposes and turns off the unit in case of problems in operation.
  5. The thermostat maintains the set temperature in the room.
  6. The case serves to protect the device and is made of metal coated with heat-resistant paint.

The figure below shows the device of a gas convector.

The principle of operation of the device is that the gas, when burned in the chamber, heats heat exchanger. The air flow, passing through the lower openings of the unit, moves through the heat exchanger, takes heat and exits heated into the room through the upper openings. In the meantime, the products of gas combustion are expelled from the chamber by means of double-walled pipe(coaxial). Through it, from the street, it enters the apparatus Fresh air to support the combustion process.

The principle of operation of the convector

Types of gas convectors

Heaters are classified by type of installation - models are wall and floor. Distinctive features wall devices can be called their compactness, low weight, efficiency. But they are limited in performance. Them maximum performance power can reach only up to 10 kW. If you want to warm up a room with large area, then it is better to use the model outdoor type. But such heaters have a large mass, due to big size heat exchanger. Their power can reach several mW.

Wall mounted gas boiler

Advantages and disadvantages of gas convectors

Among the advantages of gas heaters, the following factors can be distinguished.

  1. Economic indicator. , much cheaper gas systems heating. But the latter win in the low cost of operation. For example, if you take standard model with a cast-iron heat exchanger with a power of about 3 kW, then its cost will be 2 times higher compared to an electric one of the same power. We also know that 1 kW of electricity and 1 m 3 of gas are similar in price. But to produce 1 kW of thermal energy, only 0.1 m 3 of gas is required. It is due to this that savings are achieved during operation. These calculations are applicable only when using gas convectors on the main natural gas.
  2. Possibility of using bottled gas. The unit is easily converted to run on propane. This feature allows you to use gas convectors for summer cottages or other places where there is no main gas supply. But on economic indicators devices for heating on bottled propane are also not profitable, like electric ones.
  3. Environmental friendliness. A heater with a closed combustion chamber does not burn out oxygen in the room.
  4. No coolant required. To use this type gas heaters installation of a water heating system is not required, as is the case with autonomous heating (gas boiler). This is convenient if you will use the unit in the country or in the garage. AT winter time when the device is turned off, the water in the system will not freeze, since there is no liquid in it.

But such devices also have certain disadvantages of using them.

Convector selection

How to choose a gas convector? First of all, attention is drawn to specifications unit. by the most the best option can be considered a device with a closed combustion chamber and a heat exchanger made of cast iron. The presence of a programmable control unit is considered important. Consider other factors that you should pay attention to when choosing a domestic gas convector.

Machine power

Since heating occurs due to air circulation, the units work effectively only in one room. Therefore, each room will require the installation of a separate unit. Power is determined from the calculation: 100 watts are required per 1 m 2 of area.

Heat exchanger material

Since gas heating convectors operate on gas that burns in a special chamber, the heat exchanger is subjected to strong temperature effects. If it burns out after a while, the device fails. Therefore, the material of this part must be resistant to high temperatures. The leader among heat exchanger materials is cast iron. This metal is resistant to thermal stress, in addition, it cools very slowly and evenly distributes heat. Gas convectors with a cast-iron heat exchanger can last up to 50 years. The main disadvantages of such devices are high price and a large mass of the unit. Heater with heat exchanger become cheaper and lighter in weight. But when choosing a unit, you should pay attention to the quality of the steel. Steel heat exchangers can last no less than 20 years.

Combustion chamber type

Heaters may differ structurally according to the type of combustion chambers:

  1. open the combustion chamber. Installation of a unit with such a chamber requires the installation of a chimney with access to the roof. In addition, during the operation of the unit, to maintain the combustion process, air will be taken from the room. Therefore, good ventilation of the room is required.
  2. Closed the combustion chamber. Such models are more popular, since the pipe does not need to be led through the roof (a coaxial pipe is installed opposite the device). And another plus can be called the fact that oxygen in the room is not burned out, since air is taken from outside the building.

Presence of a fan

A gas convector with a fan quickly and evenly heats the entire room. Due to the forced air supply to the heat exchanger, the latter is better cooled. And since overheating is not allowed, the service life of the heat exchanger is significantly increased.

Room type

If you want to install a convector in the apartment, then the best choice there will be a device with a combustion chamber closed type and a chimney with a coaxial pipe. This type of apparatus does not burn oxygen in the room. AT private buildings you can install any . But when using a device with an open combustion chamber, the room must have forced ventilation.

Type of fuel

Usage liquefied gas prohibited in apartment buildings. Therefore, the device is connected only to the highway. In private houses, use a gas convector on bottled gas it is possible, provided that the cylinder is installed outdoors in a special metal cabinet.

The amount of fuel consumed

Fuel consumption in gas heating equipment is considered economical. To calculate the gas flow rate, the following basic parameters are accepted:

  • 1 kW of power will require 0.11 m 3 of gas from the main;
  • 0.09 m 3 of liquefied gas will be required per 1 kW of power.

Based on these indicators, you can make a calculation. For example, a 4 kW heater (designed for 40 m 2 of area) will consume 0.44 m 3 of gas per hour of operation, and 10.56 m 3 per day. But, since the device does not work constantly, this figure will be much less.

Convector installation

Before installing a gas convector, it is necessary to study the requirements and recommendations for installation, which are described in the instructions for the device.

Before installing the gas convector, it is necessary to choose a place for its placement. According to GOST, the unit must be mounted under the window. The main installation steps are described below.

  1. We try on the device to the selected place, transfer with the help of a tape measure the places under the holes for the chimney and gas pipe. In some models, the gas pipe is supplied from below, so it is necessary to leave room for its supply.
  2. After that, you have to perform the most time-consuming operation - punching a hole. large diameter in the wall for the exhaust pipe. You can use a puncher and make a hole with a diamond crown. If there is no crown, then you can break through the wall by switching the puncher to the jackhammer mode (during the operation of the puncher, a lot of dust will form, so cover all the furniture with foil in advance).
  3. Next, you need to prepare holes for fasteners and hammer dowels into them.
  4. Now you can connect the pipe to the heater and treat the connection with a sealant (high temperature).
  5. Lift the unit together with the pipe and insert it into the hole in the wall, then fix the unit with self-tapping screws. Since the unit is quite heavy, you will need help to lift it. The floor heating device has special legs.
  6. After that, it is necessary to seal all the cracks between the chimney and the wall with high-temperature sealant or foam.
  7. At the end of the chimney, attach a cap that prevents the flame from being blown out by the wind (the cap and fasteners for it are included with the device) - the installation of the gas convector is completed.

Connection to the highway, as well as repair gas equipment should only be done by professionals. If you are going to use a gas convector with a cylinder connection, then special permission not required. But still it is better for the gas service workers to do this.

In conclusion, it can be said that the use of gas convection equipment can be a relatively simple and inexpensive solution to the problem of heating for different types premises. It attracts the fact that the installation of such equipment does not cause great difficulties (except for connecting the device to the main).

How to install a gas convector with your own hands

Required Tools and materials:

  • Metal-plastic pipe with metal fittings;
  • Pipe cutter;
  • Wrench for threaded connections and fittings;
  • Silicone sanitary;
  • Gas valve;
  • Perforator with a blade-shaped crown;
  • Drill and drill;
  • Phillips screwdriver;
  • Mounting foam high temperature;
  • High temperature silicone;
  • Plastic dowels with self-tapping screws to them.

The first stage, one of the most important - choosing a place for installation. According to GOSTs, it must be installed under the window. To be honest, I don't know what this is about. Moreover, I have seen that convectors are installed at a sufficiently large distance from windows.

Having chosen a place for installation, you need to try on the convector to the place. It is convenient to do this with the help of a tape measure, by transferring the dimensions, or, which is more reliable, by attaching the convector to the wall and marking the holes.

The next point is also important - the location of the gas inlet. If it is located at the bottom of the convector, it is necessary to leave a sufficient distance to bring a pipe with a clamp fitting to it.

Then, based on the diameter of the exhaust pipe, we punch through a hole in the wall using a perforator. This is the most dusty and time-consuming process. You need to be well prepared for it. Cover in advance, as much as possible, with plastic wrap.

Then drill holes for fasteners and drive dowels into them. Install the exhaust pipe into the opening of the convector. Treat the joint with high temperature silicone. Holding the convector with your hands, insert the pipe into the hole in the wall. Attach the convector to the wall with dowels. This is not easy, because the convector is quite heavy. Ask someone to help hold it. Some do it differently, but this method has been tested by me many times. I find it the most convenient. The result was a convector screwed to the wall and a chimney pipe sticking out into the street.

Blow out the remaining gaps between the pipe and the wall with high temperature foam. Put a special cap designed to protect the burner from blowing in the wind on the end of the pipe. It is included. This cap is attached with self-tapping screws, also included in the kit.

So the convector is installed, now let's connect the gas.

Gas supply to the convector

According to GOST, it is necessary that the pipe that goes to the convector runs along the street. So let's do it. If the gas pipe has a threaded connection made in advance, then you just need to screw a gas valve onto it, which cuts off the gas supply to the convector. Well, if the pipe is without a drain, it will be necessary to do it. This work can be done by a gas welder. Ideally, a specialist from Gorgaz or a similar office.

After the gas cock is installed, run a metal-plastic pipe to the convector. Using a tape measure, we calculate the length of the pipe, and the number of fittings.

By the way, when buying fittings and a pipe, make sure you have a certificate of conformity required for this kind of work.

Now install the pipe, attach it with clips to the wall every meter. To install the clips, drill holes in the wall. When installing the pipe, lubricate both the pipe and fittings with silicone for additional sealing. In addition, silicone will facilitate the installation of pipes, as it will serve as a lubricant.

As a result, we get a convector that hangs on the wall, an exhaust pipe, a cap and gas pipe fixed to the wall and connected to the convector.

We start the gas convector

Immediately before starting, we open the gas valve and go through all the joints, fittings and threaded connections with a brush moistened with a small solution. Dishwashing liquid is excellent for this purpose. If you see bubbles rising, turn off the faucet immediately and fix the leak. I forgot to say - at this moment it is better not to smoke.

After repacking the joints, start the convector. To do this, press the gas supply button and do not release it for about a minute so that the gas fills the pipes and enters the combustion chamber.

Now press the piezo ignition button. A spark will ignite the gas and a blue, cheerful blue flame will ignite in the combustion chamber. In case you did everything right :).

Adjust the operation of the convector to obtain a comfortable temperature.

At first, for about a few hours of operation, the presence of an unpleasant smell of burnt oil is allowed. It's not scary - the convector is new - the combustion chamber is warming up and burning. However, if the smell does not disappear for a long time, you need to turn off the gas and carefully examine the junction of the outlet of the convector and the exhaust pipe.

Attention: All of the above work is best done by a specialist. Do not forget - self-installation of a gas convector leaves you without the right to warranty repairs. And of course, the convector must be accepted by Gorgaz, and for this a tie-in project is needed. As well as all the necessary permits and the conclusion of the commission for acceptance into operation of the device.

However, having gained this knowledge, you will be able to supervise the installation of a gas convector by hired contractors.
