Drawings and diagrams of a homemade electric pump for water. Hand pump for water from a well - we make a complex unit from improvised means. Option # 3 - collapsible model for the summer season

As soon as the documents for the suburban area are drawn up, the newly minted summer residents begin to search for water. Well, if there is water on the site, and if it is not? You can take it from your neighbors, but even for cooking dinner you will need two buckets. You no longer apply to watering the garden. Where to get life-giving moisture in this case? If you look around, somewhere you will definitely find a lake or a rivulet, even a stream will do. All you need is a pump. And it doesn't have to be electric. A homemade water pump can use solar energy, a vacuum, or the natural vibrations of a lake. This is both economical and no dependence on the voltage in the mains.

Many individual sites are not connected to the power grid. DIY water pumps can use more than just electricity. They work perfectly on the "free" energy of the sun and wind, use the natural fluctuations of water and river flow. You can even pump water using a vacuum, and for this you need only a barrel and a fire.

Wave pump: easy to assemble, pumps efficiently

To make a wave pump you need:

  • corrugated pipe (accordion);
  • two bushings with valves;
  • bracket;
  • log.

If a brass pipe was used, then the log should weigh more than sixty kilograms. Although if you use a plastic accordion, you can get by with a lighter one. In the latter case, the weight of the log can be accurately determined only in practice.

The pipe is closed on both sides with bushings with valves. One end is attached to the bracket, the other to the floating log. Natural fluctuations in the water in the river will bring the harmonica into action. If the wind speed reaches two meters per second, then the pressure increases to four atmospheres, and about twenty-five thousand liters can be pumped per day.

A wave homemade pump for pumping water will last longer if you fix the ring limiter with a bolt on the lift. So the log in the horizontal plane will only turn slightly. This will eliminate unwanted torque. You can also solder tips to the ends of the pipe, onto which the bushings are screwed.

The log that will be used in this design must be soaked three to four times with a mixture of kerosene and natural drying oil in a one to one ratio. The ends and washed down need to be impregnated six times. If the mixture begins to solidify, it must be heated in a water bath.

Furnace-pump: warm - does not heat, but pumps water regularly

The name of the system is misleading for many: the furnace-pump does not provide water heating. The principle of operation is to create a pressure difference. To assemble the oven pump, you need:

  • steel two-hundred-liter barrel;
  • blowtorch or primus stove;
  • branch pipe with a tap;
  • rubber hose;
  • mesh nozzle on the hose;
  • As experience shows, it takes about an hour to fill a barrel. And this is provided that the diameter of the hose is millimeters, and the water needs to be raised from a six-meter depth

    A pipe with a tap is cut into the bottom of the barrel. In the screw plug that closes the barrel from above, a hole is drilled and a rubber hose is inserted very tightly. Its other end is closed with a mesh nozzle, and then lowered into the reservoir. Installed under the barrel blowtorch or primus.

    1-2 liters of water are poured into the barrel, and a fire is made under its bottom. Steam displaces air, which enters the reservoir through a hose. Then the fire is extinguished, the barrel cools down. As a result, the pressure inside drops, and water begins to flow from the reservoir.

    Solar powered pump: always on

    The grate tubes contain propane-butane. It is connected to a rubber pear, lowered into a can. There are two valves in its lid: one lets air in, and the other lets it out at a pressure of about 1 atm. into the air pipe.

    To start the pump in action, in summer it is enough to pour cold water over the grate. Liquefied propane-butane is cooled, and its vapor pressure is reduced. As a result, the rubber pear is compressed, and the can is filled with air. After a few minutes, the sun will dry the grate and heat it up again. The vapors of the liquid will inflate the pear, as a result of which the pressure in the can will increase, and the air will begin to escape through the valve into the pipe. Airlock like a piston drives water in front of it to the shower head. This sip of water hits the grate and cools it down again.

    The tubes from which the grate is assembled can contain not only propane-butane. Any other liquid that boils at a low temperature is also suitable.

    Such a system works even in winter, however, the cycle “turns over”: frosty air cools the grate, and underground water heats it up.

    If the site is located on the shore of a lake or river, then it is not necessary to carry buckets of water to water the garden. You can make a pump from improvised materials. The sun and the flow of the river will do all the work themselves.

After buying a garden plot, the summer resident has to solve the most difficult task in life: to settle down in a new place. The most important thing is to establish water supply, because imported water will not be enough for a long time. The problem of watering is also not solved in this way.

It is good if the house is located near some body of water: a river or a stream. In this case, you will need a pump for water supply. As an option, you can consider a homemade water pump. Such a device can be made from various materials. Water is collected in the following way: a person makes translational movements and allows the internal valve to move, while water flows out through the hose. Using a pump will alleviate the problem of watering.

This article provides ideas for making models of mini water pumps or mini pumps, as they are called by many. These are simple and cheap homemade products that will definitely come in handy in household to pump water.

Important! Well water can be raised to an aboveground tank using one of two types of pumps: piston or centrifugal. Both of them, although they work on different physical principles, are designed to solve the same problem of delivering or moving water from one place to another. When choosing the type of pump, energy consumption is taken into account, as well as the ease of troubleshooting in the event of a breakdown.

Pump characteristics

How to make a water pump with your own hands? To create a pump, the first thing you need is materials. In doing so, you need to focus primarily on the following criteria:

  • Power, on which the speed of pumping water from the well depends. On average, for pumping from wells, wells, reservoirs and storage tanks, it is 350-400 W;
  • The maximum degree of pressure. Approximately the required pressure for watering the garden is 40 m;
  • Strength and moisture resistance of the material. For example, best material body - cast iron, impeller - brass, shaft - stainless steel, mechanical seal - ceramic graphite.

If all of the above criteria are taken into account, then it will be possible to build an effective pump, and pumping water from the well will be carried out in a matter of minutes.

A cheap water overflow pump can be made from almost nothing: two plastic bottles with a cork and without a cork, a piece of plastic pipe of a suitable diameter and an outlet hose.

Production process

  1. First, the valve is cut out, for which the gasket is removed from the cover and cut in a circle. In this case, the gasket in diameter should be smaller than the neck of the bottle;
  2. An eight-millimeter hole is drilled in the center of the bottle cap. Next, a gasket is inserted, the cut neck is screwed - all this is done to clamp the membrane and obtain a petal valve. A pipe is inserted into the finished valve;
  3. From the other bottle, a kind of funnel is made, which is fixed on top of a plastic pipe;
  4. A drain hose is put on the other end of the pipe.

In this way, the simplest do-it-yourself pump is made for pumping water. With the help of a sharp movement of the hand up and down, water is brought through a plastic pipe to the spout. Further, the liquid flows by itself.

Diaphragm pump

In order to make a diaphragm pump with your own hands, you must first disassemble a similar failed unit and see how it works. The device includes:

  • two compartments located opposite each other;
  • high-strength membrane;
  • distributor.

During the operation of the device, one compartment is filled with air, the other with water. As a result of displacement, water begins to move through the chambers. When the position of the membrane is changed due to the operation of the valves, it is discharged through the pipes.

The air-operated diaphragm pump, which is compact and lightweight, can be dismantled in three minutes. This will require only two keys. So, in order:

  • the rod with the drive shaft is removed from the very center of the pump;
  • the membrane is removed;
  • valves are removed, which prevent the back suction of the pumped medium.

Regulatory and shut-off valves- necessary elements in every water system, their purpose is to regulate the flow of water.

Having studied the internal composition, you can begin to self-assemble the device.

For information. Applications of diaphragm pumps are very diverse: chemical, oil, paint and varnish, food industry. The main advantages are: no piston, no need for gaskets, inability to spark. The principle of operation is based on the laws of hydraulics and pneumatics.

How to make a hand pump

The water pump is very necessary in the spring and in the summer season. To make a manual water pump with your own hands, just look through thematic pages on the Internet. The solution can be found by examining several options. Preference is most often given to Soviet-era designs, they are many times more reliable and better than the current ones.

So, how to make a manual well pump for an eight-meter well? For this you will need welding machine and used materials.

Main details

  • five-liter carbon dioxide fire extinguisher with a wall thickness of 5 mm;
  • two three-quarter drives - one for the spout (side), the other for the water intake (below);
  • sealing rubber;
  • half inch pipe - 1 meter;
  • two valves;
  • a pond with a diameter of 14 mm for the stem, so that it fits perfectly into the fire extinguisher head;
  • lever 12 mm thick, 28 mm wide and 70 cm long;
  • basic support column 12 mm thick, 28 mm wide;

Additional elements are also used:

  • a bed measuring 7x30x25 cm, on which everything is attached;
  • mounting bracket 4x35 mm;
  • steel handles for carrying the structure;
  • M8 bolts for attaching the lever arms.

Three-quarter-sized drives are taken to increase the passage and reduce the load when pumping water. You can make them half an inch. The spurs are welded to the pump housing (fire extinguisher). But first, the body itself is made.

Description of the manufacturing process

The principle of operation of the pump is to create a vacuum suction of well water, on this basis a device is created.

  1. The bottom of the fire extinguisher is cut off. Between its body and the bed, sealing rubber is laid, previously cut to the size of the body. In this case, the structure is fixed to the base in four places with the help of corners. Bolts and washers are used for fastening. Holes for simplification can simply be burned in the metal on which the rod walks. This hole is central and must be done carefully with a welding machine;
  2. A thread is welded to the stem and a return piston is screwed in, which plays the role of a check valve in the system. A five-millimeter metal circle with 10 mm holes is used as a piston for the passage of water. On top of it, a cuff cut from ordinary sheet rubber is put on a rod of the same diameter;
  3. The entire unit rests on support legs, which are mounted on M12 bolts. The legs are screwed into nuts welded to the frame. The design is completely collapsible;
  4. Upon completion of all welding work, the pump is primed and covered with paint.

The rod is rigidly connected to the handle. When the rod starts to move, the cuff rises, and the water, seeping through the holes of the piston, rises to exit through the side squeegee (column spout). The pumping handle should oscillate freely left and right.

The pump pumps out approximately two to three liters of water at a time. Such a pump for pumping water is useful for taking water from a reservoir such as a well, a well.

For information. All pumps use the basic forces of nature to move fluid. As soon as the moving parts of the pump begin to move, the water is pushed to the side.

Alteration of the Chinese pump

Surely many have burned themselves on the purchase of Chinese-made brushless pumps. The devices are not bad, but they often break down: the stuffing of the pumps itself is covered - electronics flooded epoxy resin. The Chinese rocking chair serves a maximum of two weeks on a solar collector. Having a little knowledge of the principle of operation of the device, you can remake Chinese water pumps with your own hands. It will turn out, as in the saying "If you want it to work the way it should, do it yourself."

How to make a water pump from a broken Chinese product? First of all, disassemble the pump, look at the assembly diagram. Of the parts for assembling a new device, an impeller is useful, it is difficult to make it yourself.

A new homemade water pump is assembled from powerful engine soviet times, coupling and impellers made in China. Creation is set to solar collector, and the issue with the pump disappears for long time. It will work efficiently.

Important! A converted do-it-yourself pump for a well will need to be covered from dust, which is a common cause of breakdowns in motor equipment.

The made unit is attached and tested in action. Such a homemade pump perfectly pumps water from a two-meter depth. It will last for several years for reliable operation, given how it works cyclically.

For seasonal irrigation, devices with a minimum of wear parts are mainly used:

  • do-it-yourself asynchronous centrifugal pump;
  • three-phase brushless unit.

In popularity, the design of the centrifugal electric pump for water surpasses many pumping devices similar appointment.

Making a pump for pumping water, if you figure it out, is not difficult at all. Made by hand, it will become reliable and effective tool for household needs: irrigation, drinking water intake from a well. Such a technically simple design will help reduce the consumption of electricity and water.

Water on suburban area required not only by owners to comply with sanitary and hygienic standards. It is necessary for watering plants, caring for the territory and pets, refreshing and bathing in the hot summer season. Agree that it is difficult to lift the entire required volume from the source manually with buckets.

However, there is a way to alleviate the plight of summer residents - this is a homemade water pump. Even if there are no funds to buy pumping equipment, you can become a happy owner of a useful technical device. To build it, sometimes literally one power of thought is enough.

We have collected and systematized for you valuable information about the manufacture of almost free homemade products. The models presented for consideration were tested in practice and deservedly received the recognition of the owners. A thorough description of the manufacturing technology is supplemented with diagrams, photo and video materials.

This pump is likely to be the simplest and cheapest, because the raw materials are literally junk, i.e. don't cost anything at all.

To implement the idea of \u200b\u200bits assembly, the following materials are needed:

  • plastic bottle with cork;
  • plastic bottle without cork;
  • a piece of plastic pipe of a suitable diameter;
  • outlet hose.

First, you need to make a petal valve.

Removing the gasket from the lid plastic bottle. We cut in a circle so that the gasket in diameter becomes smaller than the neck of the bottle. At the same time, you need to leave intact a narrow sector, about 15-20 degrees.

The sector must be left such a width at which it can easily swing, but not come off

We drill a hole in the center of the cap from a plastic bottle, about 8 mm. We insert the gasket and screw the cut neck.

The purpose of screwing the neck is to clamp the membrane and get a reed valve

We insert into the finished valve plastic pipe. Cut off the top from the second plastic bottle. You should get something similar to the intake funnel. We fix it on top of the plastic pipe.

We put a drain hose on the other end of the plastic pipe. The simplest homemade pump for pumping water is ready.

The tapered part will help the liquid open the petal. In addition, the valve will not hit the bottom

With a sharp movement of the hand up and down, we force the liquid to rise through the plastic pipe to the spout. Further, the liquid will flow by gravity.

For use piston pump surface or submersible type is necessary, which can also be pierced independently like an Abyssinian well or drilled.

Design #2 - Hand pump with straight spout

A very simple device for pumping water from a barrel,. The advantages of this design: speed of assembly, cheap cost.

Required details:

  • PVC pipe d.50mm - 1 pc.;
  • PVC sleeve d.50mm - 1 pc;
  • PPR pipe d.24mm - 1 pc.;
  • outlet PPR d.24 - 1 pc;
  • PVC plug d.50mm - 2 pcs.;
  • a piece of rubber d.50mm, 3-4mm thick - 1pc;
  • check valve d.15mm - 1 pc.;
  • empty cylinder from silicone 330ml - 1pc;
  • coupling screw clamp - 1 pc;
  • screw-nut or rivet - 1 pc;
  • union nut d.15 - 1 pc.

We begin the assembly of the entire structure with the manufacture of a check valve.

Check valve construction. We prepare a check valve from a plug Ø 50mm. We drill several holes around the perimeter of the plug Ø 5-6mm. In the center, we drill a hole of a suitable diameter for a pair of screw-nut or rivet.

On the inside of the plug we put a rubber disc Ø 50mm. The disc should not rub against the walls of the plug, but should cover all drilled holes. In the center we tighten with a screw-nut or rivet, a screw will not work. If there are difficulties with materials or manufacturing, you can replace it with a factory-ready check valve.

What is a factory-made, used for work pumping station, detailed in our recommended article.

Preparing the pump sleeve. The length of the sleeve should be commensurate with the depth of the well or water tank. We cut the PVC sewer pipe Ø 50mm to the desired length, from the narrow end. We insert a newly made valve into the socket of the pipe. For reliability, we fix it on both sides with self-tapping screws.

For the second end, we prepare a plug with a preliminary drilled holeØ 25mm. This hole in the plug is made according to the diameter of the PPR pipe Ø 24. Great accuracy is not required, the plug serves as a sliding support.

Piston assembly procedure. At empty bottle cut off the nose from the silicone. Next, you need to heat the cylinder and insert it into the PVC sleeve so that the diameter of the cylinder exactly matches the diameter of the sleeve. We put the silicone can on the valve with reverse side arrows (the arrow on the non-return valve indicates the direction of water flow).

Cut off the excess balloon. We fix it with a union nut d.15.

Pump rod device. The length of the rod should be 50-60 cm longer than the length of the sleeve. It is necessary to heat up one end of the rod and insert a check valve. The arrow on the check valve must point into the stem. Until the pipe has completely cooled down, we tighten it with a screw clamp.

final assembly pumps. We insert the rod into the sleeve, we fasten the plug (sliding support) from above through the coupling. To top it off, we attach a PPR 24mm outlet to the end of the stem pipe. It remains to connect the hose and you can pump water.

The pipe material can be any, and the cross section is not necessarily round. It is important to choose the right piston for the sleeve

The branch serves as a support for the hand. For convenience, you can take a tee and drown one side of it.

Design #3 - hand pump with side spout

The previous design has one, but a significant drawback. The spout moves with the stem. This design is not much more complicated, but much more convenient.

The sleeve needs to be improved. Add a 50mm PVC tee to the design with a 35 degree elbow. The tee must be inserted into the top of the sleeve. In the rod, near the piston, we drill several holes large diameter, most importantly, do not overdo it and do not violate the rigidity of the entire structure.

The piston moving up pushes the liquid into the outlet pipe. The top cover serves as a support for the piston rod

Now the water will begin to pour into the space between the stem and the sleeve. When the piston moves up, water will begin to flow into the spout.

Design #4 - Piston Well Pump

This pump design is suitable for wells no larger than 8 meters. The principle of operation is based on the vacuum created by the piston inside the cylinder. Useful homemade capable of becoming great alternative, will help solve the problems of water production for servicing a summer cottage.

In such pumps, the top cover is either absent or has a slotted hole, since the stem is rigidly connected to the handle.

Necessary materials:

  • metal pipe d.100mm., length 1m.;
  • rubber;
  • piston;
  • two valves.

The performance of the pump directly depends on the tightness of the entire structure.

You will find a detailed description of the manufacturing process of a piston pump for use in a summer cottage in one of our sites.

Step #1: Assembly liner assembly

For the manufacture of the pump sleeve, it is necessary to pay attention to the inner surface, it must be flat and smooth. good option can become a sleeve from a truck engine.

From below, a steel bottom must be welded to the sleeve along the diameter of the wellhead. In the center of the bottom, either a petal valve or a factory valve is installed.

A cover is made for the top of the sleeve, although this part is more aesthetic, you can do without it. You need to pay attention to the fact that the hole for the piston rod is slotted.

Step #2: Building the Pump Piston

For the piston, you need to take 2 metal discs. Lay between them not very thick rubber 1 cm, slightly larger in diameter than the discs. Next, we tighten the disks with bolts.

As a result, the rubber disk will be clamped and you should get a sandwich of metal and rubber. The point is to create a rubber rim around the edge of the piston, which will form the necessary piston-sleeve seal.

It remains to install the valve and weld the ear for the stem.

Step #3 Making a rubber flap valve

The reed valve consists of a rubber disc, not very thick. The disc size must be larger than the inlet holes. A hole is drilled in the center of the rubber. Through this hole and the pressure washer, the rubber disc is mounted over the intake ports.

When sucked, the edges of the rubber rise, and water will begin to flow. During the reverse stroke, down pressure is created: the rubber reliably covers the inlets.

Step #4: Final assembly and installation

It is desirable to cut a thread on the head of the well and in the bottom of the pump sleeve. The thread will allow the pump to be easily removed for maintenance and will make the installation airtight.

Install the top cover and attach the handle to the stem. For comfortable work, the end of the handle can be wrapped with electrical tape or rope, laying a coil to coil.

The limitation on the depth of the well is due to the theoretical impossibility of creating a rarefaction of more than 1 atmosphere. If the well is deeper, you will have to modify the pump to a deep one.

Design #5 - Deep Piston Pump

The difference from a conventional piston pump is that the pump sleeve must be installed at the depth of the well. In this case, the length of the rod is more than 10 meters.

The sleeve of such a pump can serve as a wellbore, and the role of a spring can be performed by a suspended load (+)

There are two ways to solve this problem:

  1. Make a stock out of more light material such as aluminum pipe.
  2. Make a stem from a chain.

The second option needs clarification. In this case, the stem is not rigid. The bottom of the sleeve is connected to the bottom of the piston by a return spring.

Design #6 - American or Spiral Type

The spiral pump uses the energy of the river flow. For work, the minimum requirements must be met: depth - at least 30 cm, flow speed - at least 1.5 m / s.

Option 1

Necessary materials:

  • flexible hose d.50mm;
  • several clamps along the diameter of the hose;
  • intake - PVC pipe d. 150mm;
  • wheel;
  • pipe reducer.

The main difficulty in such a pump is the tubular gearbox. This can be found in decommissioned sewage trucks or obtained from factory equipment.

An impeller is attached to the pump for greater efficiency.

A flexible hose is attached to the wheel in a spiral with the help of clamps. A fence is attached to one end PVC pipes d. 150mm. The other end of the hose is put on the pipe reducer.

Water is taken in by a water intake and moves in a spiral, creating the necessary pressure in the system. The height of the lift depends on the speed of the current and the depth of the immersion of the intake.

Option 2

Necessary materials:

  • flexible hose d.12mm (5);
  • plastic barrel d.50cm, length 90cm (7);
  • polystyrene (4);
  • impeller (3);
  • sleeve coupling (2);

Cut a hole in the bottom of the barrel. Inside the drum, it is necessary to lay the hose tightly in a spiral and connect it to the sleeve coupling.

To give buoyancy inside the barrel, it is necessary to glue foam floats. Finally, screw on the impeller.

For such a design drain hose should be 25 mm. in diameter.

Design #7 - Wave Energy Pump

As the name implies, these pumps use wave energy. Of course, the waves on the lakes are not so big, but the pump works around the clock and is capable of pumping up to 20 cubic meters per day.

Option 1

Necessary materials:

  • float;
  • corrugated pipe;
  • two valves;
  • attachment mast.

The float is a pipe, a log, selected depending on the rigidity of the corrugated pipe, empirically.

Corrugated pipe can be made of plastic or metal. The weight of the log must be selected experimentally

Two valves are mounted in a corrugated pipe, working in the same direction.

When the float moves down, the corrugated pipe is stretched, as a result, water is taken. When the float moves up, the corrugation contracts and pushes the water up. Therefore, the float must be quite heavy and large.

The whole structure is rigidly attached to the mast.

Option 2

This design differs from the first version in that the corrugated pipe is replaced by a brake chamber. This diaphragm-based circuit is very often used in simple do-it-yourself water pumps. Such a pump is quite versatile and can receive energy from wind, water, steam, sun.

The brake chamber should be disassembled and only two holes for the valves should be left.

Making suitable valves is a separate task.

Necessary materials:

  • copper or brass tube;
  • balls of a slightly larger diameter - 2 pcs.;
  • spring;
  • copper strip or bar;
  • rubber.

For the inlet valve, we cut off the tube and drill it so that the ball fits snugly on the tube. It is necessary to ensure that the ball does not let water through. To prevent the ball from falling out, solder a wire or strip on top.

The design of the exhaust valve differs from the intake valve by the presence of a spring. The spring must be installed between the ball and the copper strip.

We cut out the diaphragm from the rubber according to the size of the brake chamber. To drive the diaphragm, you need to drill a hole in the center and stretch the pin. The valves are inserted from the bottom of the brake chamber. For sealing, you can use epoxy glue.

It is better to find balls for valves that are not metal, so they will not be subject to corrosion.

Option 3

Based on the design of the two previous options, you can think about building a more advanced model.

This pump requires four stakes (1) to be driven into the bottom of the reservoir. Then make a float from a log. In the log, you need to make gashes so that when swinging on the waves, it does not rotate.

The log limiters (3) and (4) are nailed in such a way that the log does not damage the pump rod (5) during maximum movement.

Construction # 8 - a device from a washing machine

Often parts or even entire units from old things remain on the farm. From an already unnecessary washing machine, you can remove the centrifugal pump. Such a pump is perfect for pumping water from a depth of up to 2 meters.

Necessary materials:

  • centrifugal pump from a washing machine;
  • petal valve from a washing machine or homemade;
  • cap, bottle cap;
  • hose;
  • preferably an isolating transformer.

If a ready-made valve from a washing machine is used, then it must be modified. One hole must be plugged, for example with a bottle cap.

Excess pump openings must be plugged. If the case is metal, grounding is mandatory

We connect the petal valve to the hose and lower it into a pit or well. Connect the other end of the hose to the pump. In order for the system to start working, it is necessary to fill the hose with the valve and the pump itself with water. It remains to connect the transformer, and the pump is ready for operation.

Construction #9 - water pump from compressor

If you already have air compressor, do not rush to purchase a water pump. It will be successfully replaced by a structurally simple airlift device.

Necessary materials:

  • spout pipe d.20-30mm;
  • air pipe 10-20mm;

The principle of operation of the pump is very simple. A hole must be drilled in the outflow pipe, they must be placed closer to the bottom. The hole should be 2-2.5 times the diameter of the air pipe. It remains to insert the air pipe and apply air pressure.

One of the most efficient and simple pumps, does not clog and is assembled in 5 minutes

The efficiency of such a pump depends on the height of the water level, the depth of the reservoir, the compressor power (performance). The efficiency is about 70%.

Design #10 - Gear Water Machine

The heart of this design is gear pumps for pumping oil from agricultural or truck vehicles. Similar features at the power steering power plant from KrAZ.

Unit characteristics:

  • working volume of the pump - 32 cm 3;
  • maximum pressure - 2.1 atm;
  • operating speed - 2400 rpm;
  • the maximum allowable speed - 3600 rpm;
  • nominal pumped volume - 72 l / min.

To such a pump, if possible, connect the engine from the washing machine. Engine household appliances has a number of advantages: it works from a single-phase 220V network, it has a starting system (capacitor).

Gear mechanisms are left- and right-handed, you need to pay attention to the direction of the arrow on the body

You may need pulleys and a belt to get the required RPM. The advantage of a gear pump is that the gears are able to create the necessary suction force even without pre-filling with water.

The only remark: after the pump has been running, to prevent corrosion of the steel gears, it is necessary to let the pump idle for about 20 minutes.

Construction #11 - Bicycle wheel pump

Productive pump based on two wheels.

Necessary materials:

  • sewer pipes and PVC outlets;
  • bicycle wheel;
  • nylon rope;
  • small pulley;
  • several pistons;
  • fastening bar.

The principle of operation of this pump is similar to that of a dragline.

First you need to build a sleeve that will be immersed in water. A branch is put on the top of the sleeve through which water will drain. Next, we install a small pulley from below (a wheel rim from a wheelbarrow will do), and a bicycle wheel from above.

We fasten a series of pistons along the entire length of the rope, after passing through the sleeve. The rope should wrap around the pulley and the bike wheel.

The device is very effective, especially if you use a bicycle drive. It will be much easier to turn your legs.

By rotating the bicycle wheel, each piston on the rope captures water and, like on an elevator, lifts it up. The water column is poured into the outlet.

Design #12 - "Homemade" for a small stream

This pump can run on ultra-low energy. Of course it's good if there is a river or a lake. But what if the river becomes very shallow in summer? A swing type pump will help.

The main part of the structure is two buckets rigidly interconnected through blocks (4). From the stream it is necessary to make a drainage system from galvanized steel (3). In order to reduce wear, a piece of plastic is placed under it. The drainage system is rigidly connected by a leash with a rope (5).

The whole system must be adjusted in such a way that when one bucket is filled, the drainage system moves to the second bucket. The energy of the buckets through the crank (8) is transmitted to the pump (10).

Design #13 - Shukhov's wick pump

The Russian inventor Shukhov became famous for many buildings, including the radio tower in Moscow. Below we will consider another of his inventions - a water pump.

The pump uses a special rope. This rope consists of braided cotton threads with a total thickness of 5-6 mm, enclosed in a sheath. The thread is passed through the pulleys.

When movement occurs, the rope gets wet and wraps around the pulleys. The pulley (5) with the help of the spring (4) presses the rope against the pulley (3) with force. The squeezed water flows into the tray (7). Figure "c" shows the sections of pulleys (3) and (5), respectively.

To operate the entire system, an electric motor of only 5-10 watts is required. Usually, such engines have 1500 rpm.

To reduce speed and increase effort, you can use the worm gear shown in Figure "c". It is quite possible to make it by hand. For this, it is necessary to find a suitable gear, and make a worm out of wire. Small forces on the shaft allow manufacturing inaccuracies.

The presented options for home-made pumps for pumping water are made from improvised means, often even without cost. The beauty is that each design is completely open to further improvements and upgrades. So your pump will surely be a unique product.

Of course, hand pumps will not help to build in a summer cottage, but they will save you from the impressive physical effort required to take and transport water to the place of use.

Pumping water with a hand pump, of course, is not as convenient as its electric counterpart. The speed of work is not even close comparison. However, there are situations when a manual water pump is necessary, and sometimes the only one. possible solution. For example, as a temporary type at the stage of water supply at home. Buying a device for short-term use is unwise. Do you agree?

We offer extensive information on DIY hand pump options. Here are proven practices that are available to home craftsmen in terms of costs and methods of implementation. A homemade product created according to our advice will reliably serve its allotted time.

The main purpose of using pump-type equipment is to pump water from a source to certain points: to a residential building, a bathhouse, a garage, a garden. On the suburban areas wells are most often the source, less often - ponds and other reservoirs.

All residential or country houses can be divided into three categories: permanent, seasonal and periodic residence. Not all of them have electricity, and some are supplied irregularly.

Summarizing all these factors, we can draw the following conclusions:

  • in houses permanent residence by default, electricity is used, so the main equipment for pumping water is an electric pump, and the manual model is a spare standby unit;
  • if the cottage is used only in summer and power lines are connected, then the volatile option is also ideal, and hand fixture plays a secondary role
  • a suburban area without electricity most of all needs manual equipment.

To irrigate 2-3 flower beds, you can still draw water in buckets, but to ensure full and daily watering of beds, greenhouses and lawns, you need a pump. This is where a model comes in handy, for the maintenance of which a pair of hands is needed.

Do the simplest column You can do it yourself by applying the skills of welding and assembling metal or plastic parts.

A model for making your own model can be a factory product, assembled from durable cast iron or steel parts, with a comfortable handle for use

Some craftsmen build reliable equipment for wells and wells, which has been serving for years. We present an overview of homemade products, for the manufacture of which improvised material was used.

Types of devices for pumping water

One physical force used to lift the water up is not enough, as the process becomes difficult and time consuming. Therefore, mankind has long ago invented many devices that facilitate the lifting of liquid from a well or natural reservoir to the surface.

All appliances combined general principle work, which is based on the interaction of the valve system.

There are a lot of varieties of hand pumps, but four main types can be distinguished:

  • piston;
  • rod deep (varieties of piston);
  • vaned;
  • membrane.

For manufacturing at home, the first type is usually chosen if it is necessary to maintain a well of small depth (3-6 m), or the second, if it is necessary to raise water from a well from a depth of 10-12 m.

These models are considered the most productive, easy to assemble and install, reliable. The rest have significant shortcomings, the biggest of which is considered to be insufficient productivity.

It was piston instruments that occupied the main niche among the factory manual equipment, they are popular among home craftsmen.

The advantage of piston column pumps is the ease of assembly and installation. All parts necessary for the manufacture of the body and dynamic parts can be found on the farm or purchased.

And to connect the elements into a single device, it is usually enough home instrument: drills, circular saws, hacksaws, pliers, wrenches. If you need a welding machine, you can rent it or borrow it from neighbors.

Popular handicraft pumps

To pump water from one place to another, various manual pumps are used. Their principle of operation is based on the simplest laws of physics, according to which water can move through pipes and vessels due to the difference in temperature, pressure, height, etc. Let's find out how devices made by amateur craftsmen work.

Option # 1 - a piston apparatus from a casing pipe

Homemade was invented by the master for a specific purpose - for. However, it turned out to be quite productive, therefore, in the future it was used to pump water from the pond and as a backup pump option during a power outage.

To make a pump, you need minimum set tools: a grinder for cutting metal parts, a welding machine and a drill for drilling holes for fasteners

All work on cutting steel elements is carried out by electric circular saw. If use hand tool, then the production will be delayed for a long time.

Experience required to join metal parts welding work. If you are new to this business, we recommend that you familiarize yourself with.

For installation on the ground, a kind of base is used - a structure made of metal pipes 20*40mm and 20*20mm. Thanks to the long welded pipes, the pump stands firmly in a strictly vertical position.

Option # 2 - rod pump for a well

The model, made from a ready-made fire extinguisher body, differs from the previous one in reliability and greater productivity.

A home-made "samovar" can be safely installed on a well up to 15 m deep. It is not necessary to use it in constant mode, however, in the absence of electricity or to clean the well, it will be simply irreplaceable.

The principle of operation is the same: due to the rarefaction in the zone of movement of the piston, water flows from the well into the pump housing, and from there through the outlet pipe - out into the substituted container.

The device is suitable for servicing a well, well, pool, pond or other body of water. It can pump not only clean water, but also dirty liquid with silt, sand and pollution.

For manufacturing, you will need a tool for cutting and processing metal parts, as well as a welding machine. Distinctive features Let's look at the models in more detail.

From above, all metal parts are treated with a primer to protect against corrosion, since the pump will be located outdoors, in the open.

On top of the primer, it must be coated with paint for metal in order to make the protective layer as strong and airtight as possible.

It looks like a piston that is responsible for the movement of water. This is perforated metal round plate 5mm+thick rubber compressor. Hole diameter - 10 mm

It is difficult to judge the exact performance of the device, testing is necessary. However, we can say that about 2-3 liters of water are pumped with one press of the lever, that is, with just 3-4 presses, you can fill the bucket.

If the instructions for assembling a homemade product seemed complicated to you and you do not want to spend time on manufacturing, but you need a pump for pumping dirty water, we advise you to take a closer look at the finished models sold in stores. To make it easier for you to choose suitable model, we suggest that you familiarize yourself with those on the market.

Option # 3 - collapsible model for the summer season

If the well is shallow, an economical and easy-to-use plastic model can handle the delivery of water to the top.

Summer version of the hand pump, fully assembled from plastic pipes with a diameter of 20 and 50 mm. Only check valve and filter are made of metal

For self assembly you will need:

  • sewer plastic pipes 50 mm - 2 pieces of 3 m each;
  • mesh filter for installation at the end of the pipe;
  • thin PP pipe 20 mm with a thread for mounting a check valve;
  • factory-made check valve;
  • fixing the handle from a tee 25 * 20 mm with a soldered thread;
  • metal tube for the handle;
  • fluoroplastic gasket for the manufacture of the piston;
  • clamps with dowels for attaching the pipe to the walls of the well.

Assembly is as follows. To a flexible PP pipe with a diameter of 20 mm, through which water will move, first a PTFE piston is screwed, then a check valve.

It is inserted into a sewer plastic pipe with a diameter of 50 mm, from the side of the non-return valve it is closed with a nozzle with a filter. It turns out the design "pipe in a pipe", which must be immersed in the well.

A tee is wound to the other end of the PP pipe, a handle is inserted into it. To pump water, you need to take the handle with both hands and move the pipe up / down.

Outwardly and according to the way the handle moves, the pump resembles a manual analogue for pumping bicycle wheels.

The outer part is supplemented with a spout from a piece of sewer pipe and two fittings - a tee and a 90º angle. During the movement of the handle up / down, water pours out of the spout (spout) into the substituted container.

One advantage of a simple plastic model is that it can be taken apart quickly. With the onset of cold weather, the outer parts are removed, and the PP pipe is simply pulled out. As a result, only one element remains - sewage pipe, but nothing threatens her in the well shaft.

If you change your mind about making a homemade pump, you can always purchase finished equipment in the shop. Tips for choosing a pump for a well we.

Less popular manual modifications

In addition to piston models, which have proven themselves well in factory and handicraft versions, other devices are also used.

They are less productive, but interesting in terms of design and principle of operation.

There are factory models that are impractical to make with your own hands. For example, impeller-based equipment. Such devices are used in the industrial sector, they are not very convenient for giving.

In addition, buy a compact metal device, outwardly resembling a twist for cans, will cost no more than doing it yourself.

In the absence of electricity, a hand pump for water from a well can provide water to a rural courtyard. Often in the outback there are problems with energy supply. In this case, a hand pump will be the only way to water livestock and plants. A silent device will help out if aquifer located no deeper than 30 meters.

Varieties of manual water pumps

Whatever the design of the hand water pump, it will work if the hydraulic control and bypass system is calibrated. The systems of applied valves contribute to the creation of pressure with the use of human muscular strength.

All manual devices for pumping are divided according to the device:

  • piston;
  • rod;
  • membrane;
  • winged.

Of these, only rod hand pumps are suitable for a well with a depth of 20 m.

Piston pumps are used to lift water from a depth of no more than 10 m. The ground part can be done simply and with frills. But it is a pipe column and a lever.

The working part is a piston moving in a sleeve. Their mating parts are lapped. The movement of the handle to the piston is transmitted through the rod. There must be a non-return valve on the suction pipeline, since the system works under the bay. In the end part of the piston there are valves that open to bypass pressurized water.

The defining phases of the piston group:

  1. The system is under the bay, the chambers are filled, the check valve does not allow the water column to fall.
  2. The lever is pressed down, the piston moves up and displaces the water above it into the gutter. Under the piston, water enters the discharged zone from below.
  3. When the piston moves down, the check valve closes and the holes on the piston open, allowing water to flow upward. The cycle is over.

The system returns to its original position. The amount of water supplied depends on the volume of the chamber, that is, on the cross section of the pipe and the linear movement of the piston.

A rod hand pump for water from a well differs little from a piston one in terms of the principle of operation. The difference is that the working piston group is located in the casing, under the bay. The knot is located in the water, at least 1 m from the surface, as deep as possible. The system is in the water, there is a non-return valve on the bottom of the couple. With each stroke of the piston, he pushes a column of water above him. Thus, liquid can be taken from a layer 30 m deep.

All hand pumps, regardless of the design and depth of the well, have an approximate capacity of 40 liters per minute. The value depends on the effort expended, and in humans, muscle strength is approximately the same.

A prerequisite for the operation of a rod pump is a casing section of 100 mm or more. In a narrow trunk, the design will not fit. The long lever provides a long piston stroke, but the water flows intermittently with each stroke. The determining factor for such a system is a long leverage that facilitates muscular work.

Winged manual is controlled by a wheel connected to the blades. The working chamber consists of 3 compartments. Two of them are connected to the suction pipe. In the same place, through a system of valves, water enters the chamber under vacuum and is pumped into the system from the overpressure compartment. The water entering the upper compartment is poured out evenly. Equilibrium is achieved by adjusting the valves.

A diaphragm hand pump for a well is a chamber divided in half by an elastic membrane. The movable partition is connected by a rod to the handle. The upper chamber is air, does not participate in the transfer of water. In the lower section, one branch pipe is connected through a valve to the suction, the other is a discharge pipe. When the membrane is pressed down in the water chamber, the pressure rises and the valve opens. When the rod is raised, the membrane rises, the working liquid chamber under vacuum through the check valve starts the liquid. The action takes place in 2 cycles. diaphragm pump water can be supplied from a depth of 6 m.

Hand pumps are inexpensive and easy to manufacture. You can buy the product in a decent decoration, or you can make your own.

Do-it-yourself piston pump

When making a hand pump for a well with your own hands, you must accurately follow the sequence of operations. It is important to have a sufficient layer of water in the receiving chamber at a level above 10 m from the surface. A piston chamber equipped with:

  • inlet and outlet pipes with valves;
  • a crank that transmits force to the piston;
  • check valve on the suction line;
  • hose for lifting water.

The working chamber can be made from a pipe on a lathe, use a hydraulic cylinder body or a diesel chamber, the inner diameter must be more than 80 mm, the length of the blank is 600-800 mm. Main condition, inner surface should be smooth and finished. The pipe may be rectangular, but the piston follows the internal shape.

The country pump can be in a plastic case, but only metal varieties of columns are suitable for year-round use.

To get a sealed chamber, it is necessary to close the ends of the cylinder with plugs made of metal, plastic, wood. Top part covers are drilled under the stem. At the bottom - install the valve, carefully fix it in place. An outlet pipe is welded on the side.

The manufactured piston must have rubber seals and move effortlessly inside the housing. The material can be anything, even a wooden chock. The piston is connected to the rod with a thread and a stopper.

The check valve determines the performance of the future pump. The density of planting in the nest determines whether water will be held in the hose. Perform a diaphragm or ball valve. This part is better to buy.

Better install assembled structure into the pit, bringing the control and the stem out. In order for the lever to independently return to its original position, you need to install a spring.

You can make a pump or rod pump. Accuracy and the use of working drawings will create an effective mechanism.
