Preparing the back frame

We fit the buttons

Before inserting the button legs, grease its edges with a drop of glue. Excess solution is removed with a napkin. It must dry at least overnight so that the prepared buttons can be used.

We sheathe the structure

To carry out this procedure, you need to stock up on a long needle with a large eye, simple buttons and twine. You need to tie the knots tightly on the rope. Several should be made.

The knots on this smooth twine are easy to untie, but it passes freely through the foam rubber and fabric.

We insert a long piece of rope into the needle and put on a button through all the holes, as if it were being sewn on. We tie it into several knots.

Make sure that you tie the knot well (and more than once) so that it does not untie over time.

We pass the needle through the upper center hole that we drilled and move from the back of the headboard to the front. We hold the needle strictly straight. We pierce the foam rubber with a needle, gently pressing on it from the outside. We take out the needle that appears.

Be sure to keep the needle straight.

We fasten the dried button from the front of the headboard. For this:

We pass the needle through the eye of the covered button;
We make a turn of the thread around the button and again thread it into the eyelet;
We drown the button in foam rubber, at the same time, pulling the thread (the loop holds the button in this position);
Cut off the twine, leaving small tails;
We tie the ends of the twine at the bottom of the button, by analogy with shoelaces;
We tie a knot on its reverse side, we do this repeatedly.
We cut off the excess rope, hide the ends;
We “pinch” the matter, forming it with folds.

Make sure all folds are facing the same direction.

After fastening the button, we form a fold that goes up. Then we fasten the next one and again form a fold. Having sewn four buttons, we stretch the material and fix the folds with staples.

The folds should look the same.

In a similar way, we fasten the subsequent buttons and form new folds of the 1st row. At the end of it, we continue to flash the remaining surface.

synthetic winterizer of the same size, plus a margin of 5 cm on each side;
large buttons with an eye (can be replaced with accessories in the form of beads or crystals);
a strong, but not thick, harness or cord for fastening buttons, which must pass into the eye of a button or other accessories;
wall mounts, self-tapping screws, universal glue;
tools: plywood drill, furniture stapler, scissors, knife or metal tube, crochet hook.

We cut the plywood of the desired size in the shape of a rectangle or with a curly edge, for more chic.
We adjust the foam rubber to the size and shape of the plywood base.
We make markings on the foam rubber in places where it is planned to fasten the buttons. They can be placed one under the other, then the screed will turn out in the form of squares, or in a checkerboard pattern so that rhombuses come out.
We make holes in the foam rubber with a knife or metal tube, preheated. The tube initially heats up for 3–4 minutes, then 15–20 seconds is enough. After one heating, it is possible to make 2-3 holes. Before starting work, you should take care of the safety of the floor, for example, put a sheet of plywood or hardboard.
We lay out foam rubber with ready-made holes on the plywood blank, through which we make notes with a pencil on the plywood.
We remove the foam rubber, in the marked places we drill holes with an eight-millimeter drill for wood.
With the help of universal glue, we fix the foam rubber on the plywood, making sure that the holes and edges are perfectly aligned.
From above we cover with an even layer of synthetic winterizer (a margin of 5 cm on each side).
We cover the synthetic winterizer with a cloth (a margin of 10 cm on each side), align it, attach it to the plywood on the reverse side with a furniture stapler with thickened paper clips.
We prepare buttons or other selected accessories. In order for the screed to look like a single piece, the buttons are usually covered with upholstery fabric. You can leave it like that, or you can close the plywood with a thick wrong side fabric so that everything is neat from all sides.
Using self-tapping screws, we fix the fasteners on the inside of the headboard, after which we hang it on the wall at the head of the bed.

How to make a soft bed backdrop with a pattern of furniture nails

Another option for making a soft headboard, less troublesome than the previous one, but also requiring preparation and patience.

In order to make a soft headboard with a pattern of nails, you will need:

a sheet of plywood as wide as a bed, arbitrary height;
dense fabric measuring 30–40 centimeters longer than plywood on each side;
batting or synthetic winterizer at the rate of 3-4 layers according to the size of plywood plus 10 cm from each edge;
glue, furniture nails, furniture stapler.

We cut out a rectangle or a curly blank from plywood (for example, the one shown in the video).
We lay out the batting or synthetic winterizer in layers, sequentially gluing each subsequent layer to the previous one. The first layer is attached to plywood.
We wrap the allowance on reverse side plywood and attach with a furniture stapler.
Turn the workpiece upside down. We coat or sprinkle with glue and gently, evenly, smoothing out any folds and wrinkles, roll out the prepared fabric onto the sticky batting.
After drying, we wrap the fabric on the back side of the workpiece, stretch it and attach it to the plywood with a furniture stapler.
Any drawing can be done with nails, we will consider the simplest one - a frame along the edge.
In order for it to really resemble a frame, you need to try very hard to make sure that the nails are nailed evenly, deeply, at an equal distance from each other. This rule should be followed when decorating the headboard with any other selected pattern.
To make an even straight line, you need to put 2 points in opposite corners of one side of the workpiece at an equal distance from the edges (for example, 5 cm).
Then drive into the points furniture nail, pull a thread between them and put dots along it with a pencil at an equal distance from each other, for example, with an interval of 1 cm.

To make a soft headboard in the form of patchwork pillows, you will need:

2 sheets of plywood 19 mm thick or hardboard;
dense foam rubber;
batting;
fabric of four or more colors, at the rate of 30x30 cm - one flap;
glue, adhesive tape, screws, wall mounts (2 pcs.);
tool: saw or hacksaw, furniture stapler, screwdriver.

We cut both sheets of plywood along the width of the head of the bed, of arbitrary height so that the width and height are a multiple of 20 cm (in the photo the sheet is 160x100 cm)
On one sheet we draw a grid of 20x20 cm, cut into squares.
From foam rubber and batting we make squares of the same size as from plywood (20x20 cm).
We cut the fabric into pieces of 30x30 cm.
On each plywood square we paste the same piece of foam rubber, then batting. Lastly, we glue the fabric in such a way that the same margin of 10 cm remains on all sides.
We stretch the fabric so that it does not wrinkle, we turn the remnants on the reverse side, we fix it with a stapler in a certain sequence: first one corner, then the opposite, then the remaining corners.
For the size of the finished panel 160x100 cm, you need to make 40 pillows of several colors.
Lay out 5 rows of 8 pillows face down, making sure they fit snugly together. Glue with adhesive tape around the perimeter of the future finished product.
We put a second whole sheet of plywood on top and fasten each pillow to it with screws. To make it neat, you need to mark the attachment points in advance (you can draw the same grid as on the first sheet) and pick up screws of a suitable length so that they do not cut through the plywood base of the pillows.
We fasten the wall mounts to the back panel of the headboard on both sides.
