Do-it-yourself window frames in detail. Making wooden windows with your own hands. Only a little remains - we insert glass

To install new window frames, many people are accustomed to doing the same as everyone else - to call craftsmen who dismantle old windows and insert new ones, most often made of plastic or aluminum.

True, their significant drawback is the rather high price and the need to use special equipment.

That is why many are wondering: “How to make a window frame with your own hands? And what you need to do?".

Materials and tools for making a window frame

After all, in order to make windows in your favorite country house or in the greenhouse it is not necessary to install plastic frames- suitable and self-made wooden structures.

To make a wooden window frame, you will need to purchase dry wood in the form of bars. But many use plywood to make frames.

So, when choosing required material choose boards with a section of 5 by 15 cm or a beam of 5 by 5 cm.

You will also need:

  • wood glue;
  • window squares (metal);
  • glass.

You will also need a drawing and some carpentry tools:

  • saw;
  • a hammer;
  • chisels.

After the acquisition and preparation, we can get to work.

How to make a window wooden frame from bars with your own hands

A well-established material in construction is glued wooden beam OK. Of course, you can also use its simple version from solid wood, but here the probability of losing the shape of the frame due to precipitation will already increase.
In order to avoid loss of shape, the tree is covered with a special protective solution.

And now we will describe the sequence of all steps in this technological process:

  • First you need to make a window box. For this purpose, a groove is cut in the 5X15 board we have chosen so that the profile of the board looks like the letter “G”. Such a kind of scallop is needed for the tightness of our future window.

  • Next, we need to calculate the exact dimensions of our wooden window frame and start sawing the boards, with each of the boards to be divided into 4 parts. right size and then they are connected to each other. The most reliable option for this type of assembly would be the use of spikes and grooves. In order to quickly make them, you will need a chisel, hand saw and a hammer. Grooves are made on the vertical part of the frame, and spikes on the horizontal. After manufacturing, these parts must be smeared with wood glue and the parts of the box are connected, while not forgetting to observe the angle of 90 °.
  • Next, you need to strengthen the wooden frames in the corners with specially purchased window squares. You can buy them in the building shop or in the market. They are needed to stiffen our wooden window frame.

  • At this time, our glue has dried up, and now we can start making a frame for the moving part. Here, already at the beam, the cross section should be smaller than that of the window box, so we reduce the cross section so that the gap is approximately 0.1 ~ 0.2 cm.
  • Next, we connect the details of the wooden window frame in the same sequence as described above.
  • After assembling the inside of our wooden window frame, it is attached to our box with hinges. It is necessary to insert the glass in advance, although this can be done after window frame will be fully assembled.
  • Making a plywood window frame

    Sometimes not everything turns out as well as we would like and elementary damage to the material turns out.

    Therefore, to eliminate such consequences, a frame with your own hands can also be made from strips of plywood.

    For manufacturing, it will be enough to have 4 strips, which will need to be connected into a rectangle. In this case, it is important not to forget to set the angle to 90 °. To obtain the required profile, the frame is assembled from several similar rectangles with different width.

    Also, do not forget about accurate measurements, otherwise the weight may turn out to be lopsided. In such an extraordinary way, even windows with a curly profile can be made.

    This method is suitable for both blind and multi-leaf windows, where there can be from one to three rows of glass.

    If there is only one glass, then 8 plywood strips will be enough for you, which you will connect into 2 rectangles. And in order to fix the glass sheets, your second layer should be slightly smaller than the first.

    When all the details are ready, we fasten them with self-tapping screws.

    Tools and materials you will need:

    As you can see, anyone who knows how to work with a tool and has a desire to do something with their own hands can make a window frame with their own hands.

    Down with laziness and forward to new achievements!

    Choose the type of wood from which you are going to make a window. For this type of work, you will need well-dried planed boards. The cross section of such boards should be 50x150 mm. Using an electric planer, it is necessary to make a groove on the board so that the profile board has the shape of the letter G. This installation measure will contribute to the tightness of the structure.

    Based on the size of the window opening, the board must be divided into four parts. The resulting parts must be connected to each other. The connection can best be made with a straight tenon or straight groove. In the course of work on one of the boards (which will perform horizontal connection) you need to cut a spike. On the other board (which will make the vertical connection) you need to cut a groove. The joints must be smeared with wood glue and the boards must be joined. The connection of the boards of the box should be made at an angle of 90 degrees. To strengthen the structure, a hole is drilled at the end of the box and a wooden pin lubricated with glue is inserted. Also, to strengthen the design of the box, it is necessary to install metal corners in the corners and attach them to the box with screws. The box will be ready for further use after the glue has dried.

    The frame is made and connected in the same way as the window frame. In the process of manufacturing the frame, a beam is used, the cross section of which should be 50x50 mm. In order for the frame to open and close easily, it is necessary to leave a gap between the frame and the box of 1-2 mm.

    Step 4: window frame tenon joints

    The profile must be divided into blanks and made on them tenon connection with a saw, hammer or chisel.

    It is necessary to install glass and hinges in necessary places. After completing these steps, work on creating a window can be considered completed. The window must be treated with anti-corrosion materials and painted to protect against moisture.

    Thus, the article described and characterized the process of making a window frame with your own hands.

    I thought to change on the veranda, in country house window. I wanted the windows to be wooden and warm - I don’t want to “clog” the cottage with plastic. A wooden double-glazed window is not cheap, if not expensive. There are tools, hands also seem to be in place, I measured and ordered the double-glazed windows themselves, single-chamber, without frames, 30 mm thick. For the entire veranda, these are 7 windows, 1.3 m in size - width x 1.4 m - height, it turned out 13,000 rubles. And he began to manufacture wooden frames.
    What did I need for one window

    1. Dry board, edged, planed - 100 mm x 20 mm x 3000 mm (120 rubles / pc.) - 8 pcs.
    2. Dry, edged, planed bar - 45 mm x 30 mm x 2000 mm (58 rubles / pc.) - 4 pcs.
    3. Glue, impregnation for wood, self-tapping screws - about 50 rubles.
    4. Bead - 35 mm x 14 mm x 3000 m (125 rubles / pc.) - 2 pcs.
    5. Double-glazed window - (with delivery) - 2000 rubles.
    TOTAL: 3492 rubles.
    Manufacturing of window beams
    I sawed two boards 100 mm x 20 mm in half - I got 4 boards one and a half meters each.

    Board 45 mm x 30 mm while "resting".

    We take 2 three-meter boards 100 mm x 20 mm and mark every 100 mm ...

    We draw on the marks with a square.

    We cut it into squares 100 mm x 100 mm - I did it by trimming.

    On the segments, we mark four marks 20 mm from each edge.

    We drill through with a 4 mm drill.

    And then, glue the segments, ATTENTION !!! fibers across! to one and a half meter four boards.

    And we attract 32 wood screws.

    Then we drill with a four-millimeter drill in this way, through and through. From the edge 20 mm.

    We put on glue (on the opposite side of the segments) a board 30 mm x 45 mm (which rested)

    We turn over and attract with 65 self-tapping wood screws.

    We got four of these blanks.

    We cover the blanks with impregnation - I used biotex, for 2 layers.

    We mark the desired length and file the edges at 45 degrees.

    I used a trimmer.

    Frame assembly

    We connect our blanks and drill holes at an angle through and through with an 18 mm drill.

    We carefully coat the joints of our blanks and 18 mm dowels with professional pva glue (household glue is not suitable). And we drive the dowel through and through.

    We saw off the extra dowels. And connect three more corners...

    We have such a frame.

    We insert a pre-prepared double-glazed window into it.

    We adjust the size of the glazing bead and attract the double-glazed window with it. By the way, I also covered the glazing bead twice in advance with biotex.

    Well, here installed windows. We have already survived the winter - the flight is excellent.

    And these are the windows that stood before double-glazed windows.

    And this frame opens. This time I'll tell you how I made it.

    Making an opening sash

    How to make a frame window hole, we saw above - now how to turn it into a full-fledged, opening window. We take a frame, and in the upper and tender quarters, exactly in the middle, we make cuts 40 mm wide, to a depth of a quarter, and remove these segments.

    We measure the resulting height, on a pre-prepared, dry board 100 mm x 40 mm, make a mark corresponding to the length,

    sawing the board to the required size

    and install in place, after having smeared the joints with glue. Also, I made two holes at the top and bottom through the frame right into the forty and drove the 18th dowels there for glue.

    We have not forgotten the 30 mm x 45 mm bar - on the frames above, we made quarters out of it. Here this beam will perform the same function - saw it off according to the required length and glue it on both sides of the forty - I missed it with glue and pulled it together with clamps, after a couple of hours it would not be torn off.

    We install the deaf part of the double-glazed window,

    and we attract the double-glazed window with a glazing bead.

    Well, we have a frame, the blind part of the window is made, the opening for the opening sash is the same - it remains to do that part wooden double-glazed window, which will open and close)

    I have shown the dimensions in the following picture. wooden profile, which I used in the manufacture of the opening sash. I made these cuts with circular saw, in which the height of the saw blade is adjustable.
    On the image:
    Oh - this is our frame
    1 - the profile of the opening sash into which the double-glazed window will be inserted
    2 - the profile of the opening sash, which will act as a glazing bead, and will also close the gap between the sash and the frame.

    In order to make a frame for a double-glazed window from profile No. 1, we measure the window opening and subtract 8 mm from the height and width - this is so that our future, opening sash "has freedom of action")))

    We saw down profile No. 1, into 4 parts of the required length at 45 degrees - we will dock in the same way as the frames.

    We drill with an 18th drill - 2 holes per joint, carefully coat the joints, as well as the pins and holes with professional pva glue. And the next operation must be done immediately, while the glue has not yet set.

    We breed pva glue and sawdust, apply to the place where the double-glazed window will be adjacent to the sash, as well as between the package and the sash, glue with sawdust should also be applied. Installed a temporary glazing bead on 4 sides. Then I inserted the sash into the window opening, wedged it with wedges from all sides, and left it all for 2 days ...

    After 2 days, I took the sash out of the opening, and fixed it on the frame on such as in the figure 4 loops. I also glued profile No. 2 to the pva glue with the help of clamps, having previously washed it down to the required length at 45 degrees.

    And this is me gluing profile No. 2 on the sash.

    Fittings on the window can be installed at least mortise, even invoice. I was lucky enough to dismantle the old fittings of the 19th century - cast iron from the windows, restore and install on this sash - it is visible in the photo above. The sash turned out to be monolithic, albeit heavy - dry wood glued well.

    Carpentry for the manufacture of windows is considered to be one of the most difficult, requires considerable skill and understanding. window construction. Do not flatter yourself and think that a wooden window can be made on your knee, with a couple of simple carpentry tools. In the process of making a wooden window with your own hands, the carpenter has to spend a lot of time and effort preparing the material and making additional hinged elements, from glazing beads to awnings and fittings. Therefore, wooden windows simply cannot be cheap and at the same time of high quality if they were made by hand.

    How to make a wooden window

    In addition, you will need equipment for cutting grooves, cutting chamfers and internal transitions, otherwise it simply will not work to make a wooden window with high quality. To build a window you will need:

    • A circular saw;
    • Milling cutter for wood easel and manual;
    • Grooving and slotting machine;
    • Hand drill, tape measure, a set of carpentry clamps.

    The window can be completely blank, for example, if you plan to make glazing in a barn, garage or utility room. For residential premises, as a rule, a ventilation system is used with the help of a window leaf and an opening sash. General form window device is shown in the photo. You can make the main part of the window frame in the presence of tools, equipment and prepared material in a day, if you have a clear idea of \u200b\u200bhow to make a wooden window with your own hands, and drawings for the manufacture of the main parts.

    Note! In order to make a window with an opening sash, you must first prepare a set of canopies and two window locks.

    It is clear that before making a window out of wood, it is necessary to take the dimensions of the window opening and the box into which it will be inserted window block. In this case, a window will be made with an opening sash-window window measuring 130x110 cm.

    What is the best way to make a window

    In order to make a wooden window quickly and efficiently, you first need to choose quality material. Forget about oak, larch, Karelian pine, all sorts of options production of a window frame from a glued bar. In order to make a wooden window soundly the first time, you need to buy a well-dried pine blank without knots, without fiber defects and traces of wood damage by microflora or bark beetles.

    To make a wooden window frame, we need:

    • Three blanks 115 cm long and 40x140 mm in section for vertical window pillars;
    • Two blanks 140 cm and a section of 40x140 mm for horizontal crossbars;
    • Two blanks of 50 cm each and two blanks of 110 cm each, with a section of 40x50 mm, for the manufacture of an opening sash.

    Note! All workpieces must have an ideal geometry, without "propeller" and cracks.

    If a wooden blanks long time stored outside, before starting work, allow the material to mature and gain initial moisture. Wooden planks and beams should not be dried in the sun, in drafts or in a warm, dry room. It is clear that processing wood blanks protective compounds it is necessary in advance, after which the material is folded into operation and dried thoroughly. If possible, it is better to make a supply of blanks for the first experiment, since often, due to errors, it is necessary to redo or restore joints or entire elements of the wooden window frame.

    How to make a wooden window

    If you have at your disposal necessary equipment, then cutting the material for a wooden frame on a window is quite simple to do in 2-3 hours, you will need a circular saw and a groove cutter.

    The order of work is as follows:

    • Quarters are stretched on vertical and horizontal blanks;
    • Wooden beams are trimmed and cut to size for assembly;
    • At the ends of the blanks, an undercut is made on gusset in a frame;
    • On the central crossbar and the left pillar, a selection is cut out for the arrangement of the opening sash.

    It remains to assemble a wooden window box, make a window, install awnings and fittings. In order to install canopies and make locks, you will need to spend at least 4 hours. About as much as it took to make the main part of the frame.

    Making a wooden window frame

    The first operation at the carpenters involved in the manufacture wooden windows, is called a sampling of quarters. On the understandable language this means making rectangular cuts at the ends of the blanks, which, after the frame is assembled, will be used to install the glass. Groove dimensions 10x12 mm.

    On the side uprights sampling must be done at the corners of the wide side of the beam, facing the inside of the frame. On the central vertical rack, quarters are selected along all four faces of the timber.

    This can be done on a circular saw, a hand mill or any end mill. If the tree is very dry, then before cutting the corner grooves, it is necessary to remove a small chamfer from the edges. This will avoid chipping.

    After milling the quarters, it is necessary to trim the vertical posts and horizontal crossbars to size. That is, the vertical posts are cut to fit 104 cm. The design height of the window is 110 cm. The thickness of the horizontal crossbars of a wooden window is 40 mm. In order to ensure that the vertical post is inserted into the upper corner of the horizontal beam, it is necessary to make a sample of 10 mm in it, the rest of the body is 30 mm. The same selection must be made for the lower corner and horizontal beam.

    The vertical post must be installed in the upper and lower recesses on the crossbars. This means that the size of the rack is 1100-2x30 \u003d 1040 mm or 104 cm. In a similar way, you need to trim the second side and central pillar of a wooden window.

    Let's make lateral selections in the horizontal beams of the window under the sidewalls.

    With the side posts, everything is more or less clear, it remains to choose a place for the grooves in the upper and lower crossbars to install the central post, on which the opening sash of the wooden window will close.

    For the opening sash, we selected four wooden bars, two of 110 cm and two of 50 cm. At the ends of the upper and lower horizontal beams, we have already made samples of 40 mm. Set aside the width of the future sash from the edge - 45 cm.

    On each transverse beam we make two cuts hand saw to a depth of 10 mm and cut a groove 40 mm wide.

    We assemble a box of a wooden window using self-tapping screws.

    We make an opening sash and install it on the frame

    Unlike the box, we will assemble the wooden frame of the sash on tongue-and-groove joints. This type of connection will provide high rigidity frames and guarantees the absence of deformation and sagging of the sash. If you try to make it on self-tapping screws or even on the corners, the sash will still deform and crack the glass.

    First you need to cut grooves in horizontal segments with a cutter. Best suited for these purposes end mill or a groove cutter, but in their absence, the grooves can be made manually with an ordinary chisel and a mallet.

    On the vertical racks of the sash, spikes 40 mm long are cut out. Before making spikes, it is necessary to make a selection of quarters under glass, as was done earlier for a large box.

    We assemble the frame on spikes, after having smeared the joints with carpentry glue. After an hour and a half, the assembled frame of the sash is doweled and polished along the plane of the sash to the main wooden frame of the window.

    The size of the sash frame is 50x1100 mm. In order for the sash to close into the window opening, it is necessary to cut a sample along the perimeter of the frame in the size of 1040 mm.

    The sash frame of the wooden window is almost ready, now it easily fits into the main box. It remains to make canopies and install locks. Small window hinges can be used as awnings, but their installation is quite long and requires careful cutting of hidden grooves for awnings. In addition, the strength of a conventional canopy for a heavy sash is not enough, and sculpting three loops will already be ugly. Therefore, barrels with pinned fastening are used as canopies.

    You can install the barrel in a couple of minutes, but only if there is an appropriate device for drilling holes in the frame and sash. The problem of installing the barrel is how to perform perfectly precise drilling in the wooden beam of the frame at an angle of 45 o, the drill diameter is 6.8 mm, the thread on the barrel is M8. Trying to do this by eye does not make sense, it is better to spend an extra hour, but to achieve a high-quality result.

    In order to make a fixture, you will need an oak bar with a section of 40x40 mm. one facet wooden block cut along the entire length. The bar is exposed to drilling machine and drilled exactly diagonally.

    With reverse side a quarter of 6x12 mm is selected along the edge of the bar. This is necessary so that the fixture fits tightly and rigidly on the edge of the sash and frame of the wooden window.

    Before drilling the sash and frame, you need to make markings for installing the barrel. To do this, we apply the risk of installing a canopy on the frame, step back up the rack by 13 mm and transfer the risk to the sidewall of the sash, along which drilling will be performed for the counterpart of the barrel.

    After drilling the holes, it remains to wrap the barrel screws into the frame and into the sash, after which you can hang the sash on the installed canopies.

    Cut handles and finish

    It remains to make pens and execute finishing wooden window. For convenience, it is best to use balcony handles with hidden locks. domestic production made of steel, aluminum will not work, they last for 2-3 months, no more.

    We fix the sash on the frame with clamps. On the front part we mark the points for the output of the lock handles. From the points we transfer the line to the end plane of the sash. To install the lock, you need to make groove milling. It will be most convenient to cut the groove with manual router with 8mm drill. The groove milling depth is 28 millimeters, it is impossible to drill less - the lock will not fit, more - too, can pierce a wooden beam through and through.

    At the second stage, you need to mill a shelf to hide the mounting flange of the lock. Next, you need to drill holes for the installation of handles and fix the "ears" of the handles on the wooden plane of the sash.

    To install the reciprocal part of the lock, you need to get the entry point of the lock tongue on the frame. To do this, simply turn with a little effort to make a dent in the surface of the B-pillar. We cut a groove along this dent and install a counter metal bar castle.

    Conclusion

    Before assembling the window, it is necessary to carefully sand the entire surface of the frame and sash, especially the ends and quarters. After grinding, we process the wooden surface with impregnation, varnish and install glass. After the varnish or oil-paraffin impregnation has dried, we sew up the glass with a glazing bead and install locks and slats, and the wooden window is almost ready.

    Now one of the most popular windows in private homes are wooden. First of all, this is influenced by the easy availability of the production material. It will be more convenient to build a window yourself if its shape is non-standard, while the number of fittings, sashes and shape will be chosen by a specialist. Below is detailed description how to make wooden windows with your own hands.

    In connection with design characteristics, wood windows are divided into:

    Aluminum-wooden

    Wooden windows may have aluminum upholstery. In this form, the period of their use increases and does not need timely painting.

    The load-bearing part of aluminum-wood windows is constructed from aluminum, which is then covered with wood. In this case, thanks to aluminum, the strength of the window increases, and the tree transforms the appearance, making it more attractive and increasing the warmth of the window. However, this type of windows due to high price for aluminum and complex production is not very popular.

    German

    German (or, as they are also called, European) have installed fittings that appeared in Europe. This type windows has the ability to adjust the angle of inclination and height of the sash, have locking mechanisms, and window ventilation is also available.

    Eurowindows include sashes and window frames. Thanks to double glazing, which is built into the sash, the window has thermal safety. It doesn't take much effort to open it. Due to the glued timber, which is used in the manufacture of windows, the room is reliably protected from drafts. And it is also very convenient that it is very easy to care for eurowindows.

    This type of windows is extremely reliable, distinguished by warmth and durability in use. Their period of operation is over sixty years. This is facilitated by the presence of a glued three-layer beam, which is not amenable to deformation and drying out.

    Russians

    In Russian windows, separate wooden parts are installed, in which there are 2 glazed sashes with a thickness of 4 centimeters or more. The material used is pine. Of the minuses, it is worth highlighting the easily deformed windows, as well as the complex combination of the sash and the window.

    Finnish

    This type of window is distinguished by its two sashes, which are dominated by a sequential opening mode, and a wide frame. The inner sash has a single-chamber double-glazed window, and one simple glass is fixed on the outer sash. To produce the outer sash, both aluminum and wood are used. The sashes are interconnected by a sequential opening mechanism. The window frame and sashes are made using solid wood, not glued beams. The design of the window is very attractive, however, quality characteristics it is worse than the German one.

    • Double-leaf mullioned wooden windows - several sashes are connected into one whole structure with the help of an impost, this option is reliable, durable and easy to use;
    • Deaf, in which there are no valves. There is no ventilation function. Due to the ease of manufacture, the cost of such windows is low. It is necessary to think over the care of the front part of the window structure and ventilation before proceeding with the installation;
    • Double sash windows - the opening mode is similar to double sash windows, however, here the first sash has a swing-out handle, and the second without a handle. You can open the second sash only when the first one is closed;
    • Tilt-and-turn and rotary - have sashes that open inward. Thanks to the ventilation mode and reasonable price, they have become quite common.

    Swedish windows made of wood are also noted. They are something like a fusion of Russian and German. Has an internal frame with single glazing and an outer frame having single glass. This leads to high degree thermal and sound insulation.

    carved windows from wood, the presence of multiple patterns is characteristic, which makes them the most beautiful.

    To make the features of wood windows more understandable, it is better to analyze their main advantages:

    Ability to breathe

    Only a tree has this property. The regulation of a healthy microclimate in the house depends on wood. After all wooden surfaces at in large numbers Moisture absorbs it, and when it is small, give it away. Houses are healthy and comfortable environment if they have wooden windows.

    Plastic and other windows have the effect of moisture accumulation on the windowsill of adjacent surfaces.

    Due to the ability of wood to breathe, there is smooth air circulation in the room. The micropores in the tree create an air supply, even if there has been no airing for a long time. Returning home, after a long absence, you can feel the fresh and renewed air.

    Attractive design

    On a wooden window, the structure of the wood that was used in the manufacture stands out perfectly. In addition, wooden windows are well suited to every type of interior and exterior. Usually, the dwelling is furnished wooden furniture and doors, perfect for wooden windows. In addition, wooden windows are very beautiful and highly functional.

    Compared to wooden windows, plastic windows have an unattractive appearance. The tree gives the room more comfort and warmth.

    Long period of operation

    With the help of the current composition and impregnations, the quality of the wood used in the manufacture of windows becomes much higher, despite the fact that wood is a rather vulnerable material, especially before fire or moisture. Today's impregnations and dyes, which increase moisture resistance, give wooden windows the most durable operation. In addition, at the time of use, the appearance of such windows retains its originality. For example, plastic windows, when used for more than 10 years, will need to be replaced, while wooden windows retain their solidity even after two decades of operation.

    Low thermal conductivity

    This characteristic can be explained by the use of an adhesive beam in the window manufacturing process. In addition, the thermal conductivity is affected by following the technological moments of window installation.

    High quality durability

    Quality, like the tree itself, is evaluated at the time of purchase of the material. But it is not possible to appreciate the level of strength of plastic windows, because the metal profile is located inside the building. And also, when making a wooden window on your own, you can choose wood of a quality that suits the owner both in the operational and in the material sense. It is recommended to choose a three-layer glued beam, the minimum thickness of which reaches 7 cm. The resistance of the window to deformation and resistance to various external irritants will be ensured by the glued beam.

    Ease of repair

    This advantage will make it possible to reduce the cost of repairing the restoration of a wooden window with your own hands. This type of window is very easy to maintain and repair.

    Safety and environmental friendliness for human health

    This advantage is the most important during the selection of wooden windows. Since wood is natural material that do not emit various substances hazardous or harmful to human health.

    Before you start making a wooden window yourself, you need to prepare everything the right tools. So, we need:

    • screwdriver;
    • square;
    • drill;
    • chisel;
    • glass cutter;
    • roulette;
    • milling cutter or jigsaw;
    • plane;
    • a hammer;
    • ruler.

    After that, you need to prepare the following materials:

    • sealant;
    • glazing beads;
    • dowel;
    • self-tapping screws;
    • wood glue;
    • glued laminated timber for the box (oak or pine).

    Let's take a look at the steps for constructing wooden windows on your own:

    Box manufacturing

    Wooden windows are:

The boards must be dried correctly, they must not have cracks, knots and deformed. It should be remembered that the box is the main Basic structure accepting the entire load.

    And you can also use an adhesive beam, the strength characteristics and durability of which are greater.

    For the construction of the frame, boards are suitable, the dimensions of which are 150 x 50 mm. The workpiece must have a slotted hole in the shape of the letter L and a depth of 15 mm. The parts are fastened together with wood glue, and then with a wooden rod, the minimum length of which is 3 cm. The role of the clamps for each part of the box falls on the rod.

    It is also enough to make two grooved holes in the shape of a rectangle if the installation of a profile with one glass is planned. Otherwise, there should be more holes.

    For the construction of a profile of a specific shape, a milling cutter or an electric planer is required. With a glass thickness of 5 cm, a glazing bead is required, the thickness of which reaches 10 mm.

    The frame is assembled after preparing all the details. To do this, you need to cut the boards at an angle of 45 degrees. Next, a tongue-and-groove connection is made using a prepared profile. To make the level of fixation higher, self-tapping screws are additionally used. Glass installation

    In order to prevent the accumulation of condensate in the window and the absence of cold bridges, it is necessary to correctly measure the height and length of the glass that is planned to be installed in it. The minimum allowable error during the taking of measurements is 1 mm.

    Diamond self-tapping screws are best for cutting glass. A fine-grained sandpaper for polishing edges.

    Now it is necessary to attach a ruler to the glass with a margin and draw a line along it with a glass cutter. Then the glass must be put on the table and broken off. After that, the required piece of glass must be installed in the window, then the edges of the glass are smeared with sealant and laid again if there is no need for correction. Using glazing beads, glass must be fixed. Small nails are driven into the surface of the glazing beads, if they are wide, then it is more reasonable to use self-tapping screws to secure them.
