Installation of a shower cabin is given. Installing a shower cabin yourself - is it really possible to do it with high quality? What are curtains

Modern man used to rationalize everything around him: he saves time, saves space, reduces resource consumption. Therefore, the usual bathrooms are being replaced by functional and pragmatic shower cabins, which allow to reduce water consumption, and also take a lot of space. less space in the bathroom.

This plumbing novelty has already firmly entered our lives, but it has not yet become commonplace, so many homeowners are afraid to install it on their own. Already unsure of their abilities, they often succumb to the persuasion of the seller and order an expensive installation.

However, in fact, the manufacturers made sure that even an amateur could cope with this task, provided that the right tool and materials. In this article we will tell you how to assemble a shower cabin with your own hands without the help of a master.

What is a shower cabin?

Shower cabin - this modern plumbing device, which is a pallet, closed on three sides with walls and a door, equipped with a mixer and a shower . This device, unlike a bath, allows you to wash only while standing, in extreme cases, sitting, if the pan is deep enough.

Recently, showers have been increasing the number of their users, catching up with traditional baths in this indicator. The reason for this are the following advantages of the cabins:

Please note! The shower stall, in addition to the main function, often has additional functions: hydromassage, built-in audio system, lighting. All this adds to the complexity of the installation. plumbing equipment several times. Often self assembly a shower cabin can only be performed if the selected model has a minimum of "bells and whistles".

Types of showers

The modern range of plumbing fixtures is quite large, so you can choose a model for every taste and budget. However, when buying, it is important to consider not only the aesthetic qualities and variety of functions, but also how the shower enclosure is assembled. Conventionally, booth models are divided into the following types:

Important! Typically, the size of the shower tray is 100 cm by 100 cm. If the model is sold assembled, then it will not fit into the doorway of the bathroom, which is usually only 60 cm wide. Not to break the wall and door frame, do-it-yourself installation of a shower cabin right on the spot.

Major installation difficulties

Included with each model of sanitary equipment is an instruction for assembling a shower cabin. The instruction describes in detail, step by step, the process of assembling the device, but often is silent about the difficulties that an inexperienced master may encounter.

Taking on the installation of the booth, you need to be prepared for the following nuances:

Remember that to connect models of shower cabins with additional functions (lighting, hydromassage, audio system), you will need the skills of not only plumbing, but also an electrician. Experts say that if plumbing work you can save money, then it is better to entrust the electrical part of the installation to a professional, because electricity, and even in a humid room, is very dangerous.

What is required for self-assembly?

Before assembling a shower enclosure, you need to make sure that you have everything you need that will come in handy during installation. It is better to prepare all materials and tools in advance so that they are at hand. So, to complete the work you will need the following materials:

  • Shower cabin assembly or separate tray and shower walls.
  • Compact plumbing siphon with flexible connection.
  • Elbow type.
  • Silicone moisture resistant sealant.
  • Mild detergent.
  • Clean rag.

All the tools with which the shower cabin is assembled are usually available in the householder's arsenal. To do the job you will need:

  1. Spanners.
  2. Phillips screwdriver.
  3. Electric drill.
  4. Electric jigsaw.
  5. Proven building level.
  6. Roulette or ruler.
  7. Adjustable plumbing wrench.
  8. Sharp knife.

Remember! Before starting work, the installation instructions for the device are carefully studied, everything is prepared necessary tools and materials. Also, before installation, experienced plumbers recommend checking laser level the evenness of the floor in the bathroom, as well as change the pipes to modern plastic ones.

Pallet assembly

Before installing a shower enclosure, you need to carefully check with building level flatness of the floor in the bathroom. If small deviations within 1-2 centimeters can still be compensated for by the height of the legs, then large fluctuations will cause the pallet to stand unstable.

The build is then done like this:

Important! After completing the work, you need to check again that the assembled shower tray is installed absolutely level. If the check showed that it was installed crookedly, then you need to adjust the height of the legs again. If everything is in order, then you need to drain hole pallet connect the siphon. When assembling the siphon, it is important not to forget to use a sealant and silicone sealant to protect the joints from leakage.

Side wall assembly

The walls of the booth are usually made of glass or fiberglass, they are fragile and large enough, so it is more convenient to install them with two people. The main difficulty of this operation is that the models of showers are very different, so only the instructions will help determine the exact sequence of actions.

Wizards usually work in the following way:

Before starting the operation of a self-installed shower stall, you need to check it for leaks, as well as for the correct connection of all communications. If the appliance is installed correctly, no water should leak from the drip tray or seep between the panels when the doors are tightly closed.

Video instruction

Shower cabin assembly necessary work for the device of optimal and practical solution for the bathroom.

The shower cabin is convenient for its compact size.

Often such equipment is installed in large bathrooms as additional equipment.

Assemble shower stall on their own It won't be difficult, just follow the instructions strictly.

Acquisition is a hot topic today, as in the conditions small bathrooms standard apartments, this solution allows you to optimize and save space.

This article provides a diagram of how to assemble a shower enclosure, as well as video instructions and various placement and design options.

In most cases, shower cubicles in the form of a corner are used in the installation.

Such systems are similar to each other and include:

  • roof;
  • pallet;
  • side and back panels;
  • doors and factory racks;
  • apron and "skirt" of the pallet.

Preparatory stage

The procedure for installing a shower stall involves a combination of various activities that require certain knowledge and patience.

For a smooth installation of the equipment, it is necessary to treat the surface and isolate all plumbing communications.

For assembly work, you must purchase the necessary tools and materials:

  • wrench;
  • screwdrivers;
  • electric drill;
  • washers, bolts;
  • silicone sealant;
  • fittings, pipes, hoses and siphon;
  • knives;
  • paint and brushes;
  • building level, tape measure, marker and more.

When choosing the booth model itself, you need to find out from the seller everything important details: assembly features, operating pressure indicator, are there any requirements for electrical wiring, water supply system, etc.

Before starting work, you should make sure that the siphon reaches sewer drain and how well it is made.

The wires should be free to reach a waterproof outlet, without being stretched.

Pallet installation

Assembling a shower cabin with your own hands begins with the installation of a pallet, which is an acrylic container with a metal cross bolted to it.

Usually all pallets have special legs that must be set with a level and strengthened with nuts.

The installation instructions regulate the installation of the shower legs strictly in one plane in order to prevent the tray from swaying or sagging of one of the legs.

In advance, you should install a tee for several outlets, with which you can connect a bath, washbasin and washing machine.

If in the bathroom, in addition to the shower, it is also supposed to use a bath, then this must be agreed with the specialized authorities and changes should be made to the BTI plan in order to be able to arrange an additional water point.

In addition, it is necessary to check the strength of the connecting gasket: if it is in doubt, then a moisture-resistant sealant will be required.

The pallet is installed in a corner so that it fits snugly against the walls, eliminating the formation of gaps. The section contains detailed video instruction for pallet assembly.

Frame and walls

The cabin frame is assembled from vertical posts and two arches that provide movement of the cabin doors. Two vertical guides are screwed to the outer edges.

They are attached using the screws and dowels that come with the kit.

Holes in the wall intended for the installation of guides must be sealed with silicone along the contour of its installation.

Inserting glass is not difficult, as they have a special edge.

The further scheme provides for the following activities:

  • with self-tapping screws, the stand is connected to the arch;
  • the pallet is connected to the panels;
  • silicone lubricates the joints between the booth and the rear walls.

Installation of the roof and cabin doors

Attention should be paid to the established minimum gap between the roof and ceiling. Such a distance, equal to 25-30 cm, will be needed for installation and further provision of the cabin.

Installation of watering cans, lighting and speakers is carried out before fixing the roof. The joints between the attachment of equipment and the roof should also be treated with a sealant.

The roof is attached with self-tapping screws in the places that the scheme provides, for this it is necessary to make additional holes in the roof, in addition to those that already exist.

Cabin doors are mounted after the pallet, frame and roof are installed. Before installing the doors, it is necessary to fix the rollers on them and put on the seals.

After that, the rollers must be adjusted so that the doors are perfectly connected to each other, eliminating the possibility of moisture passing through.

Plumbing and power supply device

Before installing the siphon, you should make sure that it is of good quality.

Most often, manufacturers are trying to save money on the siphon, so, for sure, you will have to purchase a new, higher-quality element.

After one end drain hose fixed to the pan, and the second to the drain hole, it is necessary to drain the water and check for leaks.

When supplying water, remember that operating pressure booth is in the range from 1.5 to 4 bar, which must correspond to the pressure in the water pipe.

As a rule, existing modern market models of shower cabins have a variety of options that require electrical supply.

The video below shows instructions that show how to install a shower cabin.

For the shower, you will need a special outlet, adapted specifically for rooms with high humidity.

The procedure for assembling the shower stall ends with the installation of the so-called "skirt" on the pallet.

Before you start operating the shower stall, you need to make sure that the joints are sealed and there are no leaks anywhere.

Even if the cabin is completely sealed, the bathroom must have a ventilation system.

Shower cabins of the brands Serena and Niagara, installation features

Shower cabins of the Serena and Niagara brands belong to the middle price segment and offer various acrylic, polymer or glass models of larger and smaller sizes, which mainly have a deep tray.

Such cabins, which are full-fledged small-sized shower rooms, include:

  • walls and ceiling;
  • rain shower and stand for the main watering can;
  • hydromassage;
  • shelves;
  • convenient drain blocker.

Serena shower cabins have rightfully won recognition from consumers due to their high functionality and ergonomics.

The scheme provides for the assembly of the cabin as part of the panel, wall, roof and main elements.

After attaching all the components, additional functions should be checked, such as radio, backlight, ventilation system etc.

Mounting areas made with regular self-tapping screws are treated with silicone sealant.

Assembling a shower cabin with your own hands ends with the launch and verification of the entire system.

When buying such a cabin, you should purchase additional set mounts.

Differences in the installation of the Serena booth from the standard options begin at the stage of assembling the side walls and doors, which are installed on factory racks fixed to the floor.

It is important to observe the angles between the pallet and the walls.

Doors that are mounted on final stage, have a unique sliding system, special hinges that provide opening and closing.

When renovating, many prefer showers and boxes, instead of traditional bathtubs. Assembling a shower cabin with your own hands is not a difficult task if you know the sequence of actions (our video instruction is suitable for this) and have the necessary tools.

Choice of shower cabin

It depends, first of all, on the aesthetic expectations and budget of the owner of the apartment.

Types of shower cabins

Conventionally, shower cabins can be divided into three types:

  • simple shower enclosures. These are ordinary cabins, which for the most part do not have a roof, and the bathroom walls play the role of side walls. They perform only the functions of a shower and do not require special skills for installation;
  • simple showers. More expensive in cost, they have 4 walls and a roof. Usually equipped with several nozzles, the water pressure from which can be adjusted, and also have a hydromassage function;
  • multifunctional shower cabins and boxes. These are cabins with rich technical equipment - a sharko shower, steam generation, a Turkish bath, a “ tropical rain" etc. Often such models are equipped with a variety of lights, radio. Due to the abundance of functions, they are quite difficult to install and require certain skills.
  • In addition, the booths differ in the material of the pallets (acrylic, plastic, steel, cast iron), the material of the doors (breakproof glass, plastic), the type of opening (hinged, sliding, double-leaf, folding). The size and shape of the cabin should be chosen based on the size of the bathroom.

Preparing for cab installation

After the cabin is selected and delivered, the question arises - how to connect the shower cabin? Is it necessary to invite a specialist, or can you handle this work yourself? If there is an assembly diagram and minimum set knowledge, it is quite possible to manage on your own.

Scheme: shower cabin device

Structurally, the shower cabin consists of four main elements:

  • pallet on height-adjustable legs,
  • roof,
  • roller doors,
  • wall and side panels.

The package includes step by step diagram assembly in Russian. Its presence must be checked at the stage of delivery. Before you start installing a shower cabin with your own hands, you need to check the availability of all constituent parts in accordance with the instructions and free them from the packaging film.

It is necessary to prepare in advance all the tools and materials that will be required during the installation process. This includes:

  • tools - keys, screwdrivers, screwdriver, drill, level, tape measure, thread-cutting screw;
  • consumables - sealant, sealing and insulating tape for a shower cabin;
  • sewer fittings - siphon, fittings, hoses and pipes.

What you need to install a shower cabin with your own hands

If the cabin needs to be connected to the power supply, then an additional power tool and electrical fittings may be required.

Important! Budget models of shower cabins are not difficult to assemble and connect to the sewer on your own. If the cabin provides for the presence of many functions, it is better to entrust its assembly to a specialist, since violation of the installation rules entails the termination of warranty service.

Cabin installation steps

The assembly of the shower cabin is carried out in stages:

  • installation of the cabin base with a sewer supply;
  • installation of walls, doors and cabin roof;
  • plumbing and electrical connections;
  • leak test and test run.

Before proceeding with the assembly of the shower cabin, carefully read the instructions

Performing assembly on initial stage do not fully tighten fasteners. It is recommended that you first pre-assemble, make sure that all the elements are in place and correctly connected, and only then tighten the fasteners to the stop.

Sealant selection

Sealant is a fairly important consumable used when installing a shower cabin. Its further operation will depend on its quality. There are two main types of sealants used during installation:

  • acrylic. More affordable, it is quite resistant to temperature extremes and humidity. But from constant interaction with water, it can lose its properties, so it must be used with caution;
  • silicone. This is the most common type. The cost is slightly higher than acrylic, but at the same time, it carefully fills all the grooves and joints and prevents mold. When choosing silicone sealant it is necessary to pay attention to the composition - it should not contain resin impurities. The choice is better to make in favor of more expensive sealants.

Silicone sealant for shower cabin installation

Installation of the cab tray

Produced simultaneously with the installation of the drain. This stage must be given special attention, since a violation of the integrity of the structure can lead to poor drainage and flooding.

The pallet is installed in the following sequence:

  • legs are attached to the pallet and it is installed on horizontal surface. Using the level, the required position is calculated, the legs are twisted to the required height and fixed;

Attaching feet to shower tray

  • connection to the siphon tray. For connection, it is desirable to use a rigid pipe, and not a corrugation, since over time the pipe may sag and become clogged;
  • the siphon is connected to the sewer.

It is necessary to install the pallet as close as possible to the sewer drain. If this is not possible, it may be necessary to use a waste pump with a solenoid valve.

Important! To connect the parts of the shower cabin and the sewer, use a sealant, since the seals, although they provide reliable connection, but over time it may weaken.

Installation of cabin walls

Installation of the walls of the shower cabin must also be carried out, observing the following order:

  • the guide structures, into which the glass will subsequently be inserted, are carefully smeared with a transparent sealant;
  • glasses are installed and pressed with special paws, a sealant is attached to them;
  • silicone is applied along the edge of the pallet;
  • side panels are attached to the pallet.

If the sealant gets on the glass, it must be removed immediately, after drying, removal without traces will be quite difficult.

Installation of the walls of the shower cabin

The assembled structure must be left for a while, until the sealant and silicone are completely dry. This usually takes up to two days.

Installation of the roof and cab doors

Before fixing the roof of the shower cabin, a watering can, a fan and lighting are mounted in it. Also, the design may provide for the presence of a speaker, it is also mounted in advance. All parts are fastened with self-tapping screws and sealant, which will prevent leakage.

DIY shower door installation

After the roof is assembled, it is fixed with screws and sealant.

Shower doors can be mounted before or after the roof is fixed, depending on its design. Sliding doors are mounted on special rollers on the frame. Usually these are 8 rollers (4 each at the top and 4 at the bottom). After the doors are installed, you can proceed to install the handles and install the fittings. All shelves and holders are installed.

Connecting the cabin to the power supply

Installing a shower cabin with your own hands does not always involve connecting the power supply. This may be required by models equipped with a hydromassage or a steam generator.

Shower cabin connected to the mains

The connection must be carried out using a copper cable with a cross section of 2 sq. mm. If the cab consumes more than 5 kW per hour, then additional installation of a separate machine will be required.

Important! To connect, it is better to invite professional electrician which will provide safe operation devices.

Connecting the cabin to the water supply

When the assembly of the shower cabin is almost finished, it is necessary to connect it to the water supply.

This will require hoses and metal-plastic pipes. Mounting order:

  • first of all, all materials are prepared, pipes are cut and fittings, taps are selected;
  • the water supply in the bathroom is blocked, taps are connected to supply water to the cabin;
  • taps are connected to the shower cabin with pre-prepared pipes;
  • water is supplied to check the tightness.

Scheme: connecting a shower cabin to a water supply

furnishing an apartment or Vacation home many, with free time and some skills, try to do the work on assembling the shower cabin on their own.

This allows not only to save on the remuneration of specialists, but to enjoy the work and subsequent use of self-assembled plumbing.

Moreover, the technology of assembling a shower cabin is not so complicated. In the article we will try to describe in detail its stages, features, tools and materials used.

Selection of necessary tools and materials

For the most common designs and provided that the cabin is connected using metal-plastic pipes or flexible hoses (the least laborious and therefore best option), to perform the work you need to have the following tools and materials (depending on the specific model of equipment and the possibilities of connecting to communications, the list may vary):

Photo 1: necessary tools

  1. A set of keys (open-end and pipe);
  2. Drill with drills;
  3. Screwdriver;
  4. Screwdrivers;
  5. Hacksaw for metal or cutting machine;
  6. Level;
  7. Tape measure and pencil or marker;
  8. Wiring tool (for connecting electrical wiring);
  9. Sharp knife;
  10. Hardware for assembling the structure (usually included in the assembly kit);
  11. A set of dies with a mandrel or klupp;
  12. Pipes or hoses for connecting the water supply;
  13. Siphon for sewerage;
  14. Fittings for connecting water supply networks;
  15. Sealing tape and liquid sealant;
  16. Insulating tape;
  17. Electrical fittings.

Installation instructions

There are many models of shower cabins on the market that differ in size, types and functionality.

Before proceeding with the assembly, be sure to read the manual that came with the kit. Although the general sequence of operations is almost the same, in detail, since in each case there can be a lot of nuances.

The instructions below are only general, since it is impossible to foresee the features of the entire variety of assembly kits, and the details of the shower cabin in them can vary greatly.

Assembly

When you have prepared the necessary tools and materials, freed up space for work and studied all the documentation that came with the shower cabin, you can start assembling.

Installation in a private house

If, when installing a shower in an apartment, in a room specially designed for sanitary equipment, usually no additional work is required other than freeing up space, then when installing a booth in a private house, you may have to carry out additional work site preparation.

In order not to damage the structures when using the booth, it is necessary to waterproof the floor (especially if it is plank or parquet).

You also need to think about the walls, where you think to put an ordinary booth, the wallpaper will become unusable in a few days.

If you are installing a shower in an unsuitable room and do not want every bath procedure to be accompanied by puffs of steam, take care of good ventilation.

Another feature of installing a booth in a private house (although this problem may also arise in an apartment) is that you will most likely have to supply separate communications (electrical wiring, plumbing, sewage) to connect it.

Pallet installation

Assembly begins with the installation of a pallet, usually a metal or fiberglass bath with metal frame, adjustable legs and decorative trim.

All work can be divided into stages:

  • we fasten the legs to the pallet, screw the long studs into the seats (photo 4);
  • we put nuts on the studs, and on top of the washers and only then the frame shower tray(photo 5);

Photos: 4 Photos: 5
  • on a short support we are looking for a soldered nut, this will be a place for the central leg (photo 6);
  • to secure the middle leg, we tighten the loose nut, put on the washer, then the lock nut and tighten it to failure. We throw on the second nut, which will be the support for the threaded adjustable leg (photo 7);

Photos: 6 Photos: 7
  • the metal beams of the pallet, which will be needed for fastening, are attracted to wooden bars(photo 8);
  • but before that, we do not completely tighten the bolts and supports so that there is no skew (photo 9);

Photos: 8 Photos: 9
  • tint all the metal parts of the pallet (photo 10);
  • using a locknut, we align all the legs in level. At the same time, we put plastic brackets for the pallet screen (photo 11);

Photos: 10 Photos: 11
  • install the pallet according to the level. We will install the pallet screen later, when we connect it to the water supply and sewerage (photo 12, 13).

Photos: 12 Photos: 13

Siphon installation

Before the assembled and adjusted pallet is finally put in place, it is necessary to connect a siphon to it and drain the drain into the sewer. Siphon designs can be different, so study the diagram attached to the assembly and strictly follow it.

The main thing is not to make the most common mistakes:

  • gasket not installed in the right place;
  • connection not completely clamped;
  • incorrect location of the air lock (then it will not work and you will enjoy the scents of the sewer).

We mount the siphon of the shower cabin, it is an automatic leg-plug for draining. We tighten the release with a water or gas key (photo 14-15).

Photos: 14 Photos: 15

Although the seals included in the kit provide sufficient tightness of the assembly, all the same, for reliability, it is still better to additionally use waterproofing paste.

  • pre-place the panels next to each other and make sure that all the mounting holes match. The top will be where there are more holes, the top guide is wider than the bottom, and the bottom has curly cutouts along the edges. The edge of the glass has grooves for fastening to the arches of the fence. We set the glass into the guides (photo 16);
  • slightly raising the glass, we smear it with silicone sealant, preferably transparent. We put the glass in place, tighten the screws on the presser foot. We carefully wipe off excess glue (photo 17);

Photos: 16 Photos: 17
  • using self-tapping screws, we attach the guide arch with the shower stall at the top and bottom (photo 18);
  • We put a sealant made of silicone on glass panels, “petal inside” (photo 19);

Photos: 18 Photos: 19
  • under the lower guide we coat the shower tray with silicone, put glass panels. we do not fasten anything with self-tapping screws (photo 20);
  • at the joints of the side panels, we also apply silicone sealant (photo 21);

Photos: 20 Photos: 21
  • we apply silicone along the rim of the shower tray, except for the place for water drainage (photo 22);
  • we attach the side panels to small self-tapping screws with washers (photo 23);

Photos: 22 Photos: 23
  • fasten sidebar to the pallet, it has special holes for self-tapping screws (photo 24);
  • install the second panel in the same way (photo 25);

Photos: 24 Photos: 25
  • cover with sealant the junction of the side panels with the back (photo 26);
Photos: 26
  • We fix the back panel of the shower cabin on the screws. But first you need to make sure that all the holes match, only then we carefully tighten all the screws (photo 27-28).

Photos: 27 Photos: 28

When assembling, be sure to install seals between the frames and glass panels and check all the details for distortions.

Here are some tips to make your job easier:

  • if you are not sure about the assembly sequence, do not tighten all the screws tightly at once, they can be tightened when the panels are correctly assembled into the structure;
  • most showers allow you to collect Wall panels into the frame separately and already, then put them on a pallet, to which they are fixed with screws;
  • it may be that there are no holes for fasteners on the pallet itself, then we mark them according to the counters on the bottom of the panels and drill them.

Be sure to seal the joint between the panels and the pallet with sealant, for some reason most assembly kits do not provide any gaskets in this connection.

Door installation

Most often this sliding doors on rollers, the sequence of operations at this stage is as follows:

  • we mount the upper and lower rollers on the cabin frame. We turn the upper ones up to failure, and pull the lower ones during installation. A seal is pulled over the edge of the glass door, with the “petal” outward (photo 29);
  • we tighten the upper rollers, while adjusting the position of the doors. The doors should close (photo 30);

Photos: 29 Photos: 30
  • put plastic plugs on the screws. The screws are on the door rollers (photo 31);
  • the shower cabin is almost assembled (photo 32).

Photos: 31 Photos: 32

Roof installation:

  • we mount a watering can, a fan, a backlight and a speaker on the roof (photo 33);
  • We attach the roof with self-tapping screws. If there are not enough holes, we make new ones in necessary places(photo 34);

Photos: 33 Photos: 34
  • we attach the speaker from the radio and the phone to the sealant so that it does not rumble (photo 35);
  • we attach a long hose from the shower head (photo 36);

Photos: 35 Photos: 36
  • it looks like a shower with a roof (photo 37);
  • we mount accessories: shelves, handles, mirrors (photo 38);

Photos: 37 Photos: 38
  • after connecting the shower cabin to the water supply and sewerage, we put the shower tray screen (photo 39);
  • when the shower cabin is installed, we test for correct operation (photo 40).

Water connection

Having assembled the design of the booth, it is necessary to connect it to the water supply. best choice there will be the use of metal-plastic pipes or flexible hoses.

  1. We prepare the material, accurately determine the length of the pipes, the necessary adapters, couplings, taps;
  2. We turn off the water supply in the apartment or house and install taps, with which we will supply water to the shower. Having mounted the fittings, the water can be turned on again. If on water networks there is no free branch, we install a tee by cutting a thread on a pipe section.
  3. Having mounted the taps, we lay pipes to them from the shower cabin;
  4. We connect the taps on the water supply and the fitting on the shower stall with the laid pipes, if necessary, use adapters (in the case of metal-plastic, compression couplings);
  5. We supply water and make sure that it is tight and correct work laid pipes.

We must use sealing materials on all connections.

Sewer connection

For a shower cabin, it is best to choose a place where a drain was located directly under the pallet, into which a drain can be led.

For direct connection of the siphon with it, it is best to use a flexible corrugation. It is enough to put it on the siphon outlet and insert it into the sewer pipe (using a sealant, of course).

If the sewer lines are located far from the cabin installation site, then they will have to be extended. You can use plastic pipes and transitional elements (bends, tees, etc.), they are mounted quickly and practically without tools.

Consider a few more options for showers, which differ in some details from the most common designs.

Installation with a homemade pallet

Sometimes, due to the inability to mount a regular pallet (building structures or network elements interfere) or for other reasons, shower cabins are assembled on the basis of a home-made pallet.

Photo 41: homemade pallet

This option is not much different from the assembly of a complete cabin. But even in this case, it is necessary to ensure the alignment of the panels, moreover, if in industrial version the pallet could simply be limited to its correct installation, then you need to monitor the verticality of each panel.

The most common homemade pallets are those made of concrete or stone.

To fix the wall panels, you need to use plastic dowels that are resistant to water, and be sure to additional protection from the penetration of moisture to the fasteners.

Gaskets can be used to ensure the verticality of the panels attached to such pallets.

Installation of a cabin with a low pallet

Another (though seemingly standard) option is possible when you need to assemble a cab with a low pallet.

Photo 42: low pallet

With such a configuration, in addition to all the above works, you also need to equip a niche below the floor level to accommodate the details of the connection to the sewer (even if the bottom surface of the pallet is not lower than the floor, the siphon needs a recess at least 20 centimeters deep).

With this option, it is necessary to provide a slope sewer pipes. If it is impossible to make a recess in the floor, then, as an option, such a cabin can be placed on a pedestal.

In our small review we talked about the assembly in as much detail as possible various options shower cabins with their own hands. Of course more detailed instructions can be given when considering a specific version of the assembly kit.

Therefore, we focused on more general principles and tried to describe each stage step by step so that you can, if possible, avoid the most common mistakes that beginners make.

The popularity of shower cabins is growing every year. The ability to significantly save space, a large number additional options and " fashion design”, which often makes the shower cabin the main decoration of the bathroom, were the main reasons that shower cabins have become an integral attribute of many bathrooms, in some cases even “crowding out” the “classic bathtubs” from them. Because the shower stall is tricky plumbing fixture, which is connected not only to the water supply and sewerage system, but also to the mains, its installation requires enough a large number knowledge and skills. Although this does not mean at all that it is necessary to invite professional craftsmen. It is quite possible to solve this problem on your own, observing a few rules and recommendations. So, we install a shower cabin with our own hands.

Preparation of materials and tools

The first step is to check the availability of all the details of the shower cabin, as well as prepare the materials and tools necessary for installation.

The shower cabin itself, as a rule, consists of the following elements:

  • Pallet;
  • Side walls;
  • Roof;
  • doors;
  • Front apron;
  • Side racks.

In addition to the main details, the shower cabin is equipped with all necessary fittings and fasteners. But, nevertheless, we recommend that you prepare a few additional washers, rubber gaskets and dowel nails in advance.

In addition to the cabin itself, you will need an adjustable wrench, a level, straight and Phillips screwdrivers for installation. different sizes, puncher or electric drill, construction knife, sealant, fum tape or tow.

pre-assembly

Before starting the installation of the cabin, it is necessary to thoroughly study the instructions attached to it. And even if you have no questions while reading it, we strongly recommend that you carry out a trial assembly of the cabin before installing it in the bathroom.

This will allow not only to clearly understand the assembly principle of the entire structure, but also to make sure that all (even the smallest) parts are present, check the quality of holes and fittings, as well as identify defective spare parts and replace them in a timely manner. Of course, pre-assembly will take you some time, but it will allow you to avoid many "unpleasant surprises" during the final installation.

Naturally, when pre-assembly do not "tightly" tighten the mounting bolts and nuts, and also use sealant.

Pallet assembly

Shower tray assembly

The assembly of the shower cabin begins with the assembly and installation of the pallet. It should be assembled in accordance with the instructions, but, as a rule, it is performed as follows:

Studs are attached to the corners of the pallet, on which a cruciform support is installed. Pallet legs are attached to the ends of the studs or to special pins on the support, which are adjustable. In addition, an additional fifth leg is installed in the center of the support cross.

In some models of cabins, the support cross is additionally attached to the pallet using self-tapping screws. For this, it is advisable to use only those self-tapping screws that were supplied with the cabin, since they are guaranteed not to fit in length and will not pass through the pallet.

The next step in the assembly of the pallet is the installation of the drain siphon.

Shower siphon

To do this, it is enough to unscrew the upper fixing nut from the neck of the siphon and insert the freed pipe through the hole in the bottom of the siphon and screw it into place.

Special keys are not needed for this - the plastic nut is tightened “all the way” by hand. To ensure the tightness of the connection, do not forget to install rubber gasket between the nut and the tray (it must be supplied with the shower cabin). If, after checking for leaks (it is enough to pour a little water into the pan), a leak is detected, it must be eliminated with a silicone sealant.

And the final part of the pallet assembly is the fastening of the decorative apron brackets (if provided for by the design of the shower cabin).

Pallet installation

When the pallet is assembled, it can be installed in the place chosen for the shower cabin.

The installation of the pallet takes place in several stages.

First, the pallet must be leveled horizontally and vertically. To do this, you need to use the usual rack level.

It is placed on the edge of the pallet, after which, adjusting the height of the legs with special screws, achieve correspondence of the edge with the level of the horizon.

When this is done, it is necessary to make markings for attaching the fixing hooks. To do this, using a marker or pencil, outline the lower edge of the pallet adjacent to the wall. On this line, in the area of the corners of the pallet, holes are made into which special fixing hooks are screwed. The ends of the hooks must be left down. Now you can install the pallet in place, and then fix it by lifting the ends of the hooks.

When installing the pallet, check that the free end of the siphon is securely connected to the sewer drain.

It remains to carefully “silicone” the joint between the pallet and the wall, after which the installation of the pallet can be considered complete.

front apron

It does not make sense to pay much attention to fastening the front apron - it is fastened in accordance with the instructions on special clip-on clips, or on ordinary self-tapping screws.

As in the case with additional mount lower support, we recommend using only self-tapping screws supplied with the cabin.

Curtain installation

Before installation, it is necessary to inspect the glass curtains for damage, and also to determine where they have the top and where the bottom is.

In the absence of marking upper part curtains can be identified by the presence of mounting holes.

Now we insert the glass into the guide rails, after applying a layer of silicone sealant to the grooves. Glasses are fixed in guides with clamping bolts.

The finished frame with glass can be installed on a pallet.

We install the assembled curtain vertically (we check using a level or plumb line) and draw a vertical line along its front edge with a marker or pencil. On this line we fasten the connecting profile with the help of self-tapping screws.

Before finally tightening the screws, we coat the joint of the profile and the wall with sealant. Remove excess material immediately with a dry cloth.

We fasten the lower guide for the cab door to the pallet. Between it and the pallet we also apply a layer of sealant.

We install the curtains and fix them on the lower rail and side profiles using self-tapping screws.

It is better to tighten the screws after they are all installed.

It remains to install the upper guide arc. This completes the installation of curtains.

Wall and rear panel mounting

Shower Cabin with Back Panel

Walls and a back shower panel are not present in all models of shower cabins, but, nevertheless, we will briefly consider their installation. The walls are assembled in the same way as the curtains on uprights and horizontal profiles.

The side walls are attached to the corner rails, the pallet and the wall with self-tapping screws. When they are installed, a back panel is attached between them.

Connection to the rear panel of water using flexible hoses, as well as power supply (if provided by the design) is made before its final installation.

doors

Top rollers must be installed on shower doors before installation.

In the event that the lower rollers are equipped with special springs, you can immediately install them. The roller fixing bolts must not be completely tightened.

If the bottom rollers are "spring-loaded", then they simply "snap into the bottom groove". If not, then they are first installed in the groove and only after that they are fixed on the doors with fixing bolts.

We check the doors for tightness of convergence and, if necessary, we adjust them with the help of eccentric bolts. When the doors are adjusted, you can finally tighten the fasteners of the upper and lower rollers.

Roof

The final step in the assembly of the shower cabin is the installation of the roof.
