Variants of furniture confirmations, and their features. Confirmat: dimensions, types, purpose Furniture self-tapping screw confirmat

The article introduces furniture fasteners "confirmat", and also, using the example of a drawer for a nightstand, describes the technology for assembling furniture using the above-mentioned fasteners.

Confirmate- This is a screw with a blunt end, which is needed for screeding wooden elements together. This screw is screwed in using a cross or hexagonal cutout in the head. More often it is the second type that can be found. Before twisting the confirmat, it is necessary to drill a hole.

The confirmat received its name from the German company Confirmat of the same name, operating in the 1970s. In Russia this species fasteners, oddly enough, began to be actively used only in the early 1990s.

Confirmat is a representative of a standard furniture connection. Thanks to it, you can easily pull and tightly squeeze two pieces of wood, which, after such a connection, will never diverge.

Having studied the information described below, you, by analogy, will be able to assemble furniture in your house with your own hands, ordering only boards sawn according to the right size and having edges in the right places. Similar services are now provided by many companies, and self assembly furniture has long been a favorite "place" where sensible people try to save money.

Furniture assembly technology "for confirmation".

First of all, let's get acquainted with the tools and devices that we need.

Power tool:

1) Drill with a drill (photo 2-3) - the diameter of the drill is selected according to the diameter of the thread of the confirmation. Most often it is 5mm.
2) Screwdriver (photo 4) - used to screw the confirmation into a tree. When twisting, significant resistance forces can occur, so make sure that your screwdriver is set to the maximum power setting. To work with confirmat, a hexagon is inserted into the screwdriver (photo 5).

Hand tool and fixture:

1) Hex key (photo 6). Given key is needed in order to squeeze the confirmation until its hat is drowned into the surface of the tree. The convenience of such a key is that it has small size and at the same time, it is not necessary to make a full turn for tightening, since the tool has a ratchet, the principle of operation of which is especially well known to motorists.
2) Square with clips (photo 7). When joining two pieces of wood, the square serves as a retainer that keeps the wood from coming apart, making a perfect 90-degree angle.

As already mentioned, as an example, we will assemble a drawer for a nightstand. Such boxes are popularly called cabinets or bedside tables. Four chipboard boards will be required as prepared raw materials (photo 8). For convenience, all parts of the work will be broken down and described in stages.

Stage 1.

We make boards in the form of a drawer. We look closely at the edges. Those places where the end of the board is connected to the plane of another board do not have a decorative edge. In its place is the usual nondescript saw cut, which is closed either by another board or by a facade. Facade - the front side of the furniture. Having outlined what and where will be located, proceed to the direct connection.

Stage 2.

We make one of the 90 - degree corners of the drawer for the nightstand. Your task is to make everything as even as possible. The joints of the two elements should be as smooth as possible. A corner with clamps will help to cope with the task (photo 9). You need to clamp the sides on it alternately. By doing everything at the same time, you will not achieve evenness! Do not pinch too hard as you will ruin the edges on the wood. Pursuing corner connection, first set the upper edge and only after fixing it with a confirmation, lower. Doing everything at the same time, and at the same time smoothly - a very difficult task!

Stage 3.

Fixing two wooden element, we begin to drill a hole for confirmation (photo 10). We do it with a drill. Holding a wooden plank with one hand on one side, with the other hand we bring the drill into desired point. Your goal is to drill a hole in such a way that it passes through the center of the end of the board (photo 11). The depth of the hole depends on the length of the confirmation. Pay attention to the photo of the drill (photo 12). It has an extension to the base. This is necessary in order to get a hole into which the thickened part of the confirmation will enter. When drilling, do not immediately make a hole to the entire required depth. At first, it is drilled only until the drill is thickened, after which the drill is removed from the tree at speed, and with it the chips. Only then can the hole be drilled to the end. The clamping elbow cannot be removed after drilling!

Stage 4.

At this stage, you will need, directly, the confirmation itself (photo 13). Insert it evenly into the drilled hole (photo 14). Then we twist it with a screwdriver with an inserted tip - a hexagon (photo 15). It is not necessary to tighten the confirmation with a screwdriver until the end (photo 16). It is easier and more accurate to do this with a hexagon key (photo 17). We continue to clamp the confirmation with a hexagon until the hat of the aforementioned one “drowns” a little in the tree (photo 18).

Stage 5.

We fix the second side of the box for the nightstand. The corner clamp can already be removed. Install by hand correct location the second side and fix in this position (photo 19). With the second hand, we drill a hole by analogy with what we just wrote about. The hole, made according to the rules, has the following form (photo 20). We twist it into his confirmation and that's it, one corner of the four is assembled (photo 21-23)!

We repeat the steps until all the corners of your structure (24-26) are assembled. Next, the bottom, mechanisms, etc. are screwed to the box. The most important thing is to understand the basic principle, and everything else is related trifles.

According to the simple principle described above, very complex furniture compositions can be assembled. By learning this simple technology, you will save a lot of money, since hiring a specialist will be irrelevant for you. Assemble your wardrobes, chests of drawers, bedside tables, show your imagination (photo 27)!

Hello, friends.

Today we will talk about the most used fasteners for the manufacture of cabinet furniture.

The fastener, known as confirmat, has gained immense popularity among furniture makers since the 1990s. Its exact name is a single-element screed.

It is also called a euroscrew, a euroscrew and is colloquially called "Eureka", and the strange name confirmat comes from the name trademark Confirmat used to produce these products by a German company Hafele.

Features and Benefits

The size range of this fastener is presented in the following ratios of the outer diameter of the thread and the length of the screw (mm): 5x40, 5x50, 6.3x40, 6.3x50, 7x40, 7x50, 7x60, 7x70.

The most popular are confirmations 50 and 70 mm long with a thread diameter of 7 mm.

Euro screws with a regular head require additional countersinking of the hole to get the head flush, but they are also available with a small tooth under the head, which provides the hole with a bevel of the desired size simply during installation.

If the confirmation is mounted from the side of the front surface of the furniture body, then today a rich choice is offered to mask the screw heads, which can be selected in accordance with the decor of the furniture material.

Nuances of fasteners

With all the versatility of this fastener and the ease of working with them, a certain skill is required, mainly associated with knowledge of the characteristics of a particular material to be installed.

Holes for confirmations can be made using drills with a diameter of 4.5-5 mm under the screw shaft, and a hole for the head is made with a special stepped cutter mounted on the drill.

The latter option is the most convenient, as it allows you to prepare holes in one pass.

To make a quality hole, it is better to use a high-speed one. At low speeds, the drill can pull the wood and become clogged with chips that are not completely removed from the hole.

The cutter makes ideal holes; when removed, the drill leaves small chips along the edge of the holes, which in this case is not critical, since the screw head will close them.

Euro screws provide more secure connections than other types of fasteners due to the wide protruding threads that cut firmly into the material.

Confirmates are installed using a screwdriver or drill with the appropriate bits or hand keys.

It is better for beginners to install manually in order to control the process, and in case of excessive resistance of the screw during installation, remove the fasteners in time, preventing mechanical damage to the material.

And that's all.

See you in the next articles.

The furniture coupler is applied only in production of furniture. In the manufacture of furniture, traditional fasteners should not be used instead of furniture ties, because. she has special properties, which not only facilitate the assembly of furniture, but also allow you to hide the fasteners. Next, consider the most commonly used types of furniture ties and their features.

Confirmate

The most common type of fastener is confirmat. At the same time the easiest to use. With its help, it is easier and faster to assemble furniture than with the use of other types of furniture ties. Especially if during assembly you have to drill holes for fasteners yourself. With the help of a confirmator, two parts are connected at an angle of 90 degrees.

Increase

Fig.1.

In order to tighten the two parts, you need to drill two holes. One in one part, with a diameter equal to the diameter of the head of the confirmation, the other, at the end of the second part, of a smaller diameter equal to the diameter of the threaded part.

As a rule, drills with a diameter of 6 and 5 mm, respectively, are used for this. However, there is a combination drill for sale for simultaneous drilling of holes. It is very comfortable. There is no need to constantly rearrange the drills or use two drills at the same time.

Increase

Fig.2.

Confirmat is a universal fastener, but it has some disadvantages and application features.

Confirmat should be used simultaneously with the use of dowels. A dowel is a wooden rod with a diameter of 6-8 mm and a length of 20-30 mm (pictured below, next to the confirmation). The dowel acts as a guide and does not allow the parts to move during tightening.

Increase

Fig.3.

Despite the fact that furniture assembled using Confiramate can be assembled or disassembled, furniture made of laminated chipboard does not tolerate this very well. As a rule, after one disassembly furniture coupler is holding up badly.

Confirmate should be wrapped carefully. The best option is manually or with a screwdriver at low speed. Otherwise, the thread of the confirmation turns into a drill that breaks the hole.

Increase

Fig.4.

In order to drown the hat into the body of a piece of furniture, you should use a key and do it carefully, otherwise there is a possibility of the thread breaking. Sometimes it is necessary to pre-do the tsikkovka.

Confirmat refers to "visible" fasteners. Those. unlike other types of fasteners, it remains visible, so you need to use special plugs or stickers to hide the fasteners.

Eccentric coupler

An eccentric screed is more often used in the factory manufacture of furniture. The reason for this is the difficulty of drilling holes. The eccentric coupler consists of two parts - a hairpin and an eccentric. The pin is installed in one part, and the eccentric in another.

Increase

Fig.7.

The main advantage of this type of fastener is that this fastener is hidden, and therefore does not spoil appearance furniture. In addition, this type of fastener, unlike confirmat, allows you to repeatedly assemble and disassemble furniture, which is important, for example, when moving. Also, with the help of an eccentric screed, you can connect parts at different angles.

In self-manufacturing of furniture, it is not often used due to the complexity of drilling holes and the impossibility of correcting the joint during assembly. The main difficulty in drilling holes lies in the hole for the eccentric. This hole is not through and requires the use of a special drill - a Forstner drill.

Fig.10.

In this case, the sampling depth is about 12 mm, and the thickness of the laminated chipboard is 16 mm. The remaining wall thickness is only 4 mm. There is a risk of drilling more than necessary, thereby spoiling the piece of furniture. Therefore, when drilling holes for the eccentric brace, it is necessary to use drilling depth gauges.

This coupler is a screw and a nut, with the help of which two sections of furniture are pulled together, for example, two cabinets. For screed cabinets, 2 - 4 intersection screeds are used. Depending on the thickness of the laminated chipboard, there is an intersection screed of various sizes.

Increase

Fig.12.

Given that the intersection screed is used for screeding cabinets, and the cabinets, in turn, are made of chipboard 16 mm thick, an intersection screed with a length of 32 mm is most often used. However, there are ties up to 50 mm long, which are used to tighten parts that have a large thickness.

Shelf holders

Shelfholders exist great amount types. However, they can be divided into two groups: shelf supports for laminated chipboard and shelf supports for glass. In turn, each of these groups can be divided into two types: shelf holders with and without fixation.

The shelf holder for laminated chipboard consists of 2 parts: a rod and a shelf holder.

Increase

Fig.14.

The screw is installed in the wall of the cabinet, and the shelf holder in the body of the shelf. To mount the shelf support, it is necessary to drill holes in the shelf and cabinet wall. For most shelf supports, hole sizes are standardized, they are shown in the figure below. However, when installing the shelf support, you should carefully read the instructions so that there is no error.

Increase

Fig.15.

It should be noted that shelf holders for laminated chipboard come with and without fixation. The fixed shelf holder has an eccentric mechanism, thanks to which the shelf will be firmly connected to the cabinet wall. The shelf holder with fixation has one more advantage, shelf holders of this type carry the role of additional reinforcement of the furniture structure.

Increase

Fig.16.

Glass shelf supports have more simple design. They are fixed only to the cabinet walls with a self-tapping screw.

Increase

Fig.17.

Shelf holders for glass without fixing are a rod or a corner. Shelf holders with fixation have special screw, with which the glass is firmly fixed, and cannot accidentally fall out.

Table tie

A special type of screed is required for screeding two parts of the tabletop. It is used in the manufacture of kitchen furniture.

Fig.19. Screed for countertops. Provides reliable connection two pieces of countertops. To improve the accuracy of connecting parts, it is desirable to use in conjunction with a dowel. For a standard screed, non-through holes are made in the connected parts of the worktops with a diameter of 35 mm and a depth of 19 mm. The distance between the holes must be 15 mm less than the length of the tie. The width of the groove must be at least 7 mm.

To tie two countertops, use a pair of ties. To install the screeds, it is necessary to make recesses for the screed stops and a slot for the screw. This can be done in various ways. Most affordable option next. The recess for the stops is made with a Forstner drill of a suitable diameter, the slot for the screw can be made using a jigsaw.

furniture corner

This type of fastener is used to connect two parts. This is a rather fragile method of connection, therefore, parts that are not expected to be affected by large loads are fastened with it. Usually this decorative elements, for example, the plinth of a wardrobe or mezzanine shelves.

Fig.21.

Often used plastic corners instead of metal. They are no less durable, but have a more attractive appearance and the possibility of hidden fasteners. The furniture corner is attached to two mating parts using two self-tapping screws. Then the lid is snapped on, thus hiding the fasteners.

Fig.22.

The furniture fasteners discussed in the article are the most common and most frequently used, due to the fact that these are the most versatile and easy-to-use types of fasteners. In the vast majority of cases, the described types of furniture fasteners are enough to assemble any furniture.

When designing and assembling furniture, confirmat is the main fastening furniture element. It is with its help that we connect the main parts from chipboard to what we have designed on paper.

Eurovint, aka confirmat

Euroscrews come in different types, the most commonly used are 6x50, 7x50, 7x70. Long confirmations are used less often, for example, to connect parts from 32mm chipboard. the most popular standard size is 6x50.

The euroscrews of the part are connected at a right angle, that is, a hole is drilled in one part in the plane of the part itself, and in the other (a smaller hole where the confirmation thread itself is twisted) is drilled at the end of the part. Below are the main parameters of the confirmat itself. Can be picked drill diameters for making holes for fixing eurogut in both parts to be fastened.

How to mark holes for confirmation?

In general, there are 2 ways to drill holes for euro screws (confirmates):

  1. We drill holes separately with different diameter drills - 6-8mm and 4.2 or 4.5 mm. But this takes a lot of time and does not always work out accurately and evenly. And there is one more nuance, it is advisable to do it secretly under the screw head, because then it cannot crumble the laminate on the chipboard surface or protrude above the surface when twisted. Another important point - so that the laminate does not crumble on the back of the plate when drilling - it is necessary to put some kind of unnecessary detail chipboard or wood.
  2. A special drill for confirmation, which drills both holes and at the same time does it in secret. In this case, both parts are fastened angle clamps immediately in the position that is needed and immediately after drilling, the confirmation is screwed in.

When connecting the parts with the help of a confirmation, you do not need to drag it, otherwise the chipboard may burst. If the parts have shifted, you need to unscrew the screw a little, press the part as needed, and then tighten it again. To do this, it is advisable to drill a hole in the part that is fastened with a diameter of 8 mm so that there is a small backlash. You can correct the relative position of the parts with a rubber mallet, but within reason. After twisting the euro screw / confirmation, its head is closed with a plug (they are multi-colored - the color of the corresponding plate).

Video course on the use of confirmations for the assembly of furniture elements

The article introduces furniture fasteners "confirmat", and also, using the example of a drawer for a nightstand, describes the technology for assembling furniture using the above-mentioned fasteners.

Confirmate- This is a screw with a blunt end, which is needed for screeding wooden elements together. This screw is screwed in using a cross or hexagonal cutout in the head. More often it is the second type that can be found. Before twisting the confirmat, it is necessary to drill a hole.

The confirmat received its name from the German company Confirmat of the same name, operating in the 1970s. In Russia, this type of fastener, oddly enough, began to be actively used only in the early 1990s.

Many companies now provide such services, and self-assembly of furniture has long become a favorite "place" on which sensible people try to save money.

This key is needed in order to squeeze the confirmation until its hat is sunk into the surface of the tree. The convenience of such a key is that it is small in size and at the same time it is not necessary to make a full turn for tightening, since the tool has a ratchet, the principle of operation of which is especially well known to motorists.

When dealing with a corner joint, first set the upper edge and only after fixing it with a confirmation, lower. Doing everything at the same time, and at the same time smoothly - a very difficult task!

Stage 3.

Having fixed two wooden elements, we begin to drill a hole for confirmation (photo 10). We do it with a drill. Holding a wooden plank with one hand, with the other hand we bring the drill to the desired point.

By hand, we set the correct location of the second side and fix it in this position (photo 19).

Confirmate, he is euroscrew, he is euroscrew, he is screw tie- it is, simply put, a furniture screw. Favorite by furniture makers for ease of installation and does not require special precision when adding - you only need a drill and a hex key for confirmation.

To install this screed, two holes are needed: one is drilled at the end the main part, and the other - in the face part that is attached to the main one. Confirmate is so easy to add that you can even drill holes for it in place during the assembly process of the product. A novice furniture maker will also cope with this.

In order to simplify the drilling of holes for the euro screw, a special drill is available. consists of a cutter and a conventional drill. The cutter is designed for drilling a hole with a diameter of 7 mm (under the neck of the confirmation) and countersinking (under the head of the confirm). The drill is inserted into the skirt of the cutter and clamped with a screw.

It is often not so easy to find such a drill on sale, especially in small towns. But even if you do not buy it, do not be discouraged, it has some drawbacks. This is my personal opinion.

The first thing I encountered when working with a confirmation drill was that with a large amount of work, sawdust clogs between the drill and the skirt of the cutter over time. This quickly leads to the unusability of the drill. Vibration loosens the clamping screw. You have to clamp it more often, so the edges on the key and, as a result, on the screw itself are licked off.

I don't use a confirmation drill. I use two conventional drills ( different size under the thread and neck of the screw) and countersink.

Important nuance:

When drilling a blind hole into the end of the plate, it is important to maintain perpendicularity so that the drill does not pierce the wall of the part! I speak on my own.

But, I digress a little. An article about confirmation ....

The most popular confirmat is 7x50. The screw coupler is twisted with a special key by hand or with a hex bit using a drill or screwdriver.

In no case do not buy confirmations made for a Phillips screwdriver! With such a euro screw, you will not be able to tighten the parts as tightly as possible. This may lead to loosening of the product.

Confirmation cons:

  • it is not a hidden fastener. You can see the hat. It is usually closed with either a plastic plug or a sticker, matching the color of the chipboard.
  • furniture that is assembled on confirmations cannot withstand repeated assembly and disassembly (no more than three times). This is due to the fact that the confirmant cuts threads in chipboard - a relatively soft material. And with frequent disassembly, the thread can break.

Confirmation advantages:

  • confirmat is easy to install and does not require special equipment and accuracy when adding (as is the case with minifix). But you should not relax. To do quality furniture you need to precisely drill for any fastener.
  • Confirmat pulls the details quite tightly and reliably. Well "sits" in the material.
  • withstands heavy loads. But in the case of fastening a shelf, which is expected to be well "loaded", fasteners confirmat + dowel are used.
  • can be corrected with a mallet. For example, align parts at the ends. But in this case, it’s better not to twist the confirmation from there.

In my opinion, Confirmat is convenient, reliable, and quick to use. But if the opportunity arises to use the equipment or fixture for more complex fasteners, I would choose an eccentric tie.

P.S. To help people who want to make high-quality furniture with their own hands, I am developing a chipboard fixture for drilling holes for a eccentric and hinge (). I hope to post it on the site soon.

Confirmat (Euroscrew). Each person has more than once come across furniture made of chipboard, as this is perhaps the widest furniture segment and the most popular because of the affordable price compatible with sufficient quality. In other words this furniture called the corpus. The most popular fastener for this furniture is such an element as confirmation. Confirmat was invented by specialists from the German company Häfele in 1973, although in our country this fastener began to be widely used only in the early 90s of the last century.

This furniture tie is a metal rod with a rare external thread, which serves to fasten furniture parts to each other at an angle of 90 degrees. To tighten this type of fastener, the head has a countersunk head with a hexagonal or cross-shaped slot. In addition, confirmations can be used to fasten MDF, timber and various lumber small thickness.

Confirmation installation

To install the confirmat, it is first necessary to drill holes in the fastened parts. For this you can use conventional drill with two drills. A drill with a diameter of 7 mm is used for a through hole, a drill with a diameter of 5 mm is used for an internal part. More thin drill we drill a hole approximately 10 mm shorter than the threaded connection of the confirmation.

It is very convenient to use a special two-stage drill for this. With it, you can drill both holes at once. After that, the parts are connected at an angle of 90 degrees and at the same time drilled holes are combined. Next, the confirmation is screwed. As a result, after the complete twisting of the confirmat, only the top of the slot remains outside, and threaded connection located inside the chipboard. In this case, the main part of the thread enters the inner part where we used a 5 mm drill for the hole.

In order to give the furniture a more presentable look, the top of the slot is closed with plastic plugs to match the color of chipboard.

Advantages and disadvantages of confirmations

The main advantage of confirmations, which allowed them to gain popularity, is ease of installation. Also, this type of fastener does not require great accuracy. Confirmat has a very simple design and provides a fairly reliable connection of parts. Due to its design, the confirmat works like self-tapping screw. Thus, when twisting in chipboard, minimal destruction of the material structure occurs.

disadvantages are also inherent in confirmers. The first of them is that during installation one of the holes is through and the end of the fastener is visible on front side details. It can be closed with a stub, but not everyone likes it. Another disadvantage of fasteners is the lowering bearing capacity fastenings in the process of repeated disassembly-assembly of furniture, for example, when moving.

As you know, the main part of the furniture where these fasteners are used is assembled from chipboard - which in turn is made from sawdust and shavings. If in drilled in chipboard hole twist and unscrew the confirmate from it several times, the contacting material is cut by a thread and the connection becomes loose. It is not recommended to reassemble more than three times.

The main sizes of confirmations

5*40mm, 5*50mm, 6.3*50mm, 7*50mm, 7*60mm, 7*70mm.

The most popular size is 7*50mm hex slot.

Chipboard, from which almost all cabinet furniture is made, is fragile. Everyone knows how inconvenient it is to transport. It must either be disassembled completely, or in assembled condition move very carefully, as the screws can simply be pulled out of their seats even under light loads. This is explained very simply. The design of the screw itself was impractical. The slots quickly licked off, preventing the assemblers from tightening the connection with high quality. A hammer came to the "help", with which they finished off the screw, breaking the channel, cut into threads. Modern elements joints of joints, which include furniture confirms, are devoid of these shortcomings.

What is a confirmation, what does it serve

Confirmat is the same screw, which has its own design features. The body of the screw is more massive, made of steel High Quality coated against corrosion. The brand of material allows the screed not to break during twisting and under bending loads. Self-tapping thread with a wide pitch. The hat has secret construction, and the head of the screw is elongated. Slots for the tool come in two versions - for a curly screwdriver and a hex key. There is no usual sharpening at the end, it is blunt. There are modifications of Euroscrews, in which the cap has a cutting surface.

A single-element screed (confirmate) is suitable for joining wood blanks, boards made from wood waste (OSB, chipboard, as well as fiberboard, MDF), and plywood. In addition to connecting the elements, the euroscrew performs a frame-forming function, because it replaces the traditional corner, withstanding all bending loads. Furniture confirmations are supplemented with special plastic plugs. They mask the visible part of the hat under the color of the furniture.

Confirmat: dimensions

As mentioned above, confirmations come with different types slots. Euro screws are covered with galvanization, nickel or brass.

The sizing range is shown below. The first number indicates the diameter and the second indicates the length of the screw body. Designations are expressed in millimeters: 5.00 x 40.00; 5.00 x 50.00; 6.30 x 40.00; 6.30 x 50.00; 7.00 x 40.00; 7.00 x 50.00; 7.00 x 60.00; 7.00 x 70.00. The main, widely used size is confirmat 7x50.

What is the advantage of connecting parts using a confirmat

Confirmat sizes are different. It's relatively inexpensive fastener which has a number of advantages:

  • allows you to quickly and reliably connect parts;
  • does not require special skills in work and complex auxiliary devices;
  • delicate to the material - does not destroy it;
  • capable of withstanding tensile and bending loads;
  • cabinet furniture at confirmats can be assembled and disassembled without destroying the seats.

Confirmate application technology

It should be said that under the confirmation the hole sizes are different. They must be drilled with three different diameters - under the thread, under the head and under the sweat. Therefore, there are two technologies for creating holes:

  • In the first case, you can use conventional drill, but you have to take three different diameters. First you need to drill the entire length of the tie for the thread, then a slightly larger diameter for the head and, finally, for the flange of the cap. The diameter of each drill, of course, depends on the size of a particular confirmation. This method is inconvenient and time consuming, although it may be suitable for small amounts of work.

  • The second option is more professional and adopted by qualified people. There is a special drill for confirmation with a step-type cutter. Such a tool simultaneously drills all the holes and makes a selection for the sweat. Application Required electric drill in high speed mode.

Euro screws connect parts at an angle of 90 degrees. In order to make a joint, it is necessary to fasten two parts together with the help of the way they should be connected according to the diagram. Then you should drill a hole for the confirmation screw through the plane of one part into the end of the other. Next, you need to screw the screed with a screwdriver. Here is the connection and done.

when working with euro screws

Despite the simplicity of fasteners, you still need to know a few tricks in working with a confirmat. This will help to avoid such unpleasant situations when the connected parts are displaced from the desired joint position. Sometimes the defect is not serious negative consequences, except, of course, the aesthetic appearance of the product. But it happens that these oversights lead to the complexity of functioning, for example, gaps appear overwritten, some details do not enter the openings. So:

  • Having drilled a channel using a confirmatory drill, there is no need to rush to immediately screw the screw completely. At the moment when the head is about to enter the hole, it is necessary to clearly fix the parts in the desired position and, holding them, tighten the tie to the end.

  • If the plate material is loose, for reliability it is worth treating the screw thread with glue.
  • When assembling block structures, do not rigidly fix side walls until the free movement of all drawers has been verified.

Conclusion

For those who only want to learn how to assemble furniture with their own hands, perfect option mastering this matter - apply confirmation. The dimensions here must be maintained as accurately as possible. In order for the ends of the parts to be joined to be even, it is necessary to have an exclusively right angle with respect to the plane. Then the assembly of furniture with euro screws will simply delight and captivate.

Euroscrew is a fastener, it is also called confirmat, it has been known since the early 1990s. This screw is also called a Euro screw or simply a "Eureka". The name comes from the Confirmat trademark, under which it is produced by the German company Hafele. In the USSR, they learned about the confirmation only in 1973.

A Euroscrew is a fastener, it is also called a confirmation.

Another option is to drill the pieces together.

Confirmat looks like a screw with a flat end, but with a countersunk head with six or four sides. It has serrated threads at the bottom. In the upper part of the screw, near the head, there is no thread due to uselessness, since the confirmation is much thicker than the screw and top part Threads do not play any role in the reliability of fastening. Euroscrews for furniture are made from high-strength carbon steel, which allows misuse, easy to get out of the material.

After connecting (pulling together) the two parts, they can be corrected with a rubber mallet.

The advantages of a confirmate over an ordinary self-tapping screw are great, because it not only pulls the parts together, but also firmly holds them from lateral displacement. The connected parts on the self-tapping screw will not sit tight enough. Due to the fragility of chipboard, the use of screws does not live up to expectations. chipboard pretty soft material and the reliability of the self-tapping screw depends on the place where it will be screwed. The confirmation will hold securely and firmly even if there are pores in the chipboard.

It has serrated threads at the bottom.

With it, a small recess is made in the face and end.

Using euro screws, you get high reliability of the sections tightened with this fastener. The cost, in relation to any product, is cheap. Confirmat is easy to install and can withstand heavy loads. The disadvantage is the open fasteners, you can see the hat. It must be closed with a plug or a sticker under chipboard color. Another disadvantage is a certain amount of assembly of furniture, often no more than three times, because with frequent dismantling of furniture, the threads can break.

Euro screws for furniture are made from high-strength carbon steel, which makes it easy to get out of the material if used incorrectly.

To avoid chipping reverse side encloses chipboard sheet or plywood.

To connect two parts from chipboard (thickness of one sheet 16 mm), a euro screw is used. One of the most affordable and available ways to date. To install it you will need:

  • drill;
  • drills 4.5 mm and 7 mm or "confirmed" drill;
  • pen, square, hex key.

The advantages of a confirmate over an ordinary self-tapping screw are great, because it not only pulls the parts together, but also firmly holds them from lateral displacement.

Otherwise, the confirmation will fall out, or vice versa, it will break the chipboard, and you will ruin the furniture.

It is necessary to pull off two parts with a thickness of 16 mm. We retreat 8 mm vertically and draw center line, put a point. We make a hole with a drill with a diameter of 7 mm. On the second part, we do the same, only we take a drill with a diameter of 4.5 mm. If you have a "confirmed" drill, the work is reduced by several times, but such a drill is quite difficult to find. All you need to do is make a hole and join the two pieces together. The use of such a drill is rational in the case of a large amount of work and repeated use. It is not advisable to buy such a drill for “one-time” use.

The confirmation will hold securely and firmly even if there are pores in the chipboard.

The main thing here is to withstand all sizes.

When assembling furniture, confirmat 6.4 * 50 is used. To connect the parts qualitatively, the diameter of the hole should be 4.5-5 mm. and 50mm deep.

Sizes of confirmations

The disadvantage is the open fasteners, you can see the hat.

When assembling furniture, confirmat 6.4 * 50 is used.

The most popular sizes of euroscrews:

  • length: 40 (millimeters), thread diameter: 5 (millimeters);
  • length: 50 (millimeters), thread diameter: 5 (millimeters);
  • length: 40 (millimeters), thread diameter: 6.3 (millimeters);
  • length: 40 (millimeters), thread diameter: 7 (millimeters);
  • length: 50 (millimeters), thread diameter: 7 (millimeters);
  • length: 60 (millimeters), thread diameter: 7 (millimeters);
  • length: 70 (millimeters), thread diameter: 7 (millimeters).

The cost, in relation to any product, is cheap.

It is not advisable to buy such a drill for “one-time” use.

The main thing here is to withstand all sizes. Otherwise, the confirmation will fall out, or vice versa, it will break the chipboard, and you will ruin the furniture. The confirmation drill also makes a recess for the cap. Holes are made strictly according to the markup and the drill must be kept parallel to the surface. To avoid chipping, a sheet of chipboard or plywood is placed on the reverse side. Important point: when drilling the end of the part, the drill must be strictly perpendicular to its end, otherwise, when deflected, the drill will go to the side and the part will be damaged. In drilling in the face of a part, the perpendicularity of the drill to the part is important. To avoid the drill coming off, use a regular awl. With it, a small recess is made in the face and end. After connecting (pulling together) the two parts, they can be corrected with a rubber mallet.

The connected parts on the self-tapping screw will not sit tight enough. Due to the fragility of chipboard, the use of screws does not live up to expectations.

The use of such a drill is rational in the case of a large amount of work and repeated use.

Another option is to drill the pieces together. This method is not only fast, but also accurate. Only for this it is necessary to securely fix the parts with clamps. Thus, you save your time and speed up the assembly process.

If you have a "confirmed" drill, the work is reduced by several times, but such a drill is quite difficult to find.

As a result, the use of the confirmat fully justifies itself. You don't need to install it special devices. All you need is to order required amount confirmations. From the first time you are unlikely to get a quality screed, but after making a couple of screeds, everything will work out. As they say, the eyes are afraid, but the hands are doing.
