A beautiful garden lighthouse made of flower pots with your own hands. Original ideas for the garden with your own hands Decorative lighthouse made of wood with your own hands

Lighthouses are a popular decorative motif for landscape design. And not only because they have real-life counterparts that adorn many amazing landscape shots, but because they symbolize reliability, safe harbor and protection, setting the right mood in the garden. As usual, our decorative beacon is surprisingly easy to assemble. And it even glows in the dark! This beacon is portable, so you can use it everywhere from the garden at the summer cottage to the veranda, on the beach or on a country trip.

Starting materials and tools:
- 4 proportional clay pots without coating - varnish / enamel, etc. (1 large, 1 medium, 1 small and 1 very small);
- 2 identical saucers for pots - small;
- acrylic paint for outdoor use - colors of your choice;
- permanent glue;
- glass candle holder, commensurate with a small pot, or immediately an LED candle of a similar size (a lot of options can be purchased on the Internet inexpensively);
- a small safe candle (artificial, without fire) on batteries;
- small brushes of different sizes for paint.

1. Choose pots for the project depending on the final desired size of the beacon. The only thing might be hard to find miniature pot, so it's better to buy the smallest available, and then, starting from it, buy the remaining 3 pieces. If you are using used pots, start by cleaning them completely of any dirt, dust, earth, etc.

2. Using outdoor (outdoor) acrylic paint - i.e. waterproof and impact resistant various substances- paint the rims of three clay pots in one color (white, red), and the rest of the pots in another (blue, blue, red). Apply the paint in 3 layers, allowing the layers to dry completely before the next coating. Now we are working only with large, medium and small pots. Engage in painting outdoors or with windows wide open so as not to inhale the caustic substance.

3. Only after all 3 layers of paint on the rims have dried, paint the main part of the pots. Same with 3 layers.

4. With black paint and a small brush, draw rectangles on the dry pots. These will be the windows. If it’s difficult for you to do this by hand, first make outlines with a pencil or use tape / masking tape to seal the borders for the lines on both sides, creating a kind of template. Finally, it is much more convenient to work here with a dry brush than with a wet one, because in this case the paint will not flow.

5. Take the saucers and paint both sides of them in a color that contrasts with the rest of the lighthouse. 3 layers. Paint the smallest clay pot with the same color. From these three elements we will assemble the luminous part of the lighthouse, its top. Let all parts dry completely.

6. Turn the largest pot upside down, place it on a flat surface. Squeeze a little permanent glue on the edges of the bottom of this pot around the entire perimeter. Put some more glue on inside the top rim of a medium-sized pot. Make sure all adhesive is and will only be on the inside.

7. Turn the medium pot upside down and put it on top of the large pot. Press a little, making sure that the pot sits evenly, tightly, and the glue does not leak out. Repeat almost all the same with a small pot. Allow the structure to dry completely following the instructions on the glue package.

8. Squeeze some glue onto the base of the small pot and press one of the saucers against it. The saucer is NOT (!) upside down. Make sure the glue doesn't run.

9. Turn the second saucer upside down. Put a little glue on the top rim of the miniature pot, turn the pot upside down and glue the pot with the rim to the saucer. This is a "cover" for the luminous compartment of the beacon.

10. Place a candlestick with an artificial candle inside or the artificial LED candle itself on the top of the lighthouse - in the center of the saucer. Do not stick, as the candle will need to be replaced in the future. Turn on the candle. Cover the structure on top with our homemade "lid". Your lighthouse is ready!

A warning: never use a real candle with a real flame in the lighthouse!

1. You will need four country pots, each slightly smaller than the previous one. Old and dirty pots are first cleaned and washed.

2. We paint the rims of three pots, except for the smallest one, with acrylic paint. I chose white. We paint in three stages, allowing the paint to dry properly.

3. We also paint the "body" of the pots in three layers. I chose bright red.

4. Using black paint and a small brush, draw windows on the pots (to make it more accurate, you can use a stencil).

5. The remaining small pot and two saucers on both sides are painted in a bright ink color. This is the top of the lighthouse.

6. Applying glue on the bottoms and rims of the pots, glue them to each other.

7. Gently glue the saucer on the upper bottom, install a decorative candle without a flame (on batteries) on it. We cover with a second saucer and glue a small pot on the very top.

On a note:

The cycle of pots in nature

Flowers grow, I transplant them into large containers, and wash my old pots with soap and bathe them in very hot water, almost boiling water. For cleaning I use old toothbrushes and sponges for washing dishes. After that, no infection will stick to them.

Then I store the clean pots in a bag on the rack. My friend has a dishwasher, so once a year she fills it with flower pots, turns on the temperature to 70 degrees and dies. Pots are like new after that.

The neighbor has a different way. She makes it like a nesting doll, puts it in a bucket and fills it with water with the addition of vinegar. The bucket closes and keeps like that for a day. Then it rinses and dries. Acid removes well limescale on pots and mold. And the smell of vinegar quickly disappears.

DIY garden figurine for a flower bed

We are talking about figurines of animals, birds, butterflies, etc., which are stuck into the ground near perennial bushes, flowers or just on the lawn and look very nice, enlivening the landscape.

For this you need:

Draw an outline on paper future figure, fitting it into an approximate size of 300 × 200 mm.

Transfer the pattern to waterproof material - OSB board 6-8 mm thick (trimmings can be found at a construction site where the premises are being renovated). Alternatively, you can use more affordable material - fiberboard, also in the form of scraps.

Cut out the image of the future product with an electric jigsaw along the contour.

Thoroughly impregnate the product with used oil or hot drying oil, especially the end parts.

At the very bottom of the product, drill a hole of 3 mm and a depth of 5-7 cm and insert a 3 mm wire (you can use welding electrode 3 without coating).

Prime the product with white paint PF and after drying, paint at the discretion of the author with colored paints for outdoor use.

Instead of oil paints you can use gouache, but always after coloring decorative item fix them with waterproof varnish in two layers with drying. Under gouache paints, the product must be primed with white water-based paint for outdoor use. I wish you creative success!

    Secrets of garden figurines

    Nymphs, gnomes, foresters, fabulous birds and animals, or just decorative crafts - what determines the mood and spiritual world of your garden. Since ancient times, garden sculptures have been given special importance.

    It was believed that the stone and wooden inhabitants of the garden are capable of influencing not only the life of plants, but also the fate of the owners themselves.

    Surprisingly cute looks like a small birdbath, surrounded by small bright ground cover flowers. Such a sculpture can be made from a cement-sand mixture with the addition of glass chips.

    A bright and elegant sculpture-flower bed for a garden can be obtained from four plywood or drywall sheets. You can make a black-and-white "Burenka" on legs from a stool, attach a funny muzzle from plywood and decorate with satin ribbons

    The whimsical barefoot inhabitants of a wooden garden can become favorite figures guarding your flower bed. Such friends are very popular with both large and small owners of the garden. They can decorate and enliven any country cottage area and private courtyard

    So, small gnomes brought good luck and rich harvests, animals in the garden - health and longevity, marble sculptures of people saved from loneliness, and garden figures fairytale heroes promised an interesting and eventful life.

    Wonderful swans made of clay - a good composition for a green garden. They can be used as flowerpots, or simply placed near a blooming flower bed for decoration.

    This cute family of gypsum boletus will make you feel like you are on vacation among the untouched gifts of nature. Such a sculpture will be a particularly valuable gift for lovers of collecting autumn mushrooms.

    However, the most important purpose of garden figures was and remains to give a special unique style to the garden plot. The masters of the past knew, they know and modern designers that each garden figure should be defined on right place. Let's talk about the features of choice decorative figures for your garden.

    How to choose figures for the garden

    Any sculpture, figure or composition should be harmoniously combined with garden landscape and style. Here are some basic recommendations that will help determine the right place and type of garden decorative composition:

    • We draw a plan. Sometimes we see dear beautiful thing in a shop window, we save up money for it for a long time, but when it comes time to try it on before buying, it turns out that this thing does not suit us at all. So it is with the figures for the garden. Therefore, before you make or buy decorative crafts to give, you need to draw a garden plan along with the location of future decorative ornaments.
    • We select the background. Another important element- the correct background and its combination with the figure. It is best for small sculptures to find conspicuous open spaces in the garden. Garden figurines look good against the background decorative fences, flower beds, near paths, benches and front gardens. White or bronze large sculptures are perfect for greenery tall trees, stone fountains and clipped bushes.
    • We choose sculptures in accordance with the style of the garden. It is important to keep the style of the garden consistent with the figures in it. In a romantic garden with roses and gazebos, monochrome sculptures depicting people, flowers or graceful compositions with thin lines look harmonious.

      garden in rustic style can be decorated with wooden figures, sculptures of domestic animals and various national items. Modern style can withstand any unexpected compositions of metal, marble, clay and even concrete.

    • The figures must be adequate to the place. A mediocre combination of figures with a garden area can ruin the look of even the most neat and thoughtful landscape. So, ceramic fly agarics will look ridiculous near a marble textured fountain, a Chinese black dragon is unlikely to decorate a wicker tyn, and the figure of a naked Apollo will not fit into the front garden of a kindergarten.

    When the location, style, and background for a garden sculpture are chosen correctly, you should feel a sense of impeccable design and comfort.

    A small deer made of brushwood hid near a small wooden fence. He seemed to be frightened, being among civilization. Such a sculpture awakens the imagination and decorates a simple green garden in an original way.

    A space snail made of corrugated board tape looks fun on the lawn. It is very simple and uniquely original. Looking at her playful eyes, there is a feeling that her owner is hiding somewhere nearby - a funny good-natured robot from the planet "Shelezyaka"

    Simple and stylish figurines for the garden with your own hands

    • acrylic paints;
    • brush;
    • alcohol or solvent;
    • newspaper.
    First, the pots must be washed well, dried, then degreased with alcohol, solvent or other means.

    When the containers are dry, put the largest one on the newspaper, cover its bottom with glue. Place the second largest pot on top. Glue a small one to it, on which place the smallest one.

    When the glue is dry, paint the beacon white and the protruding border black. After a while, draw windows, put a decorative lantern upstairs.

    You can paint the lighthouse with yellow and white stripes obliquely, and make the windows black semicircular, as in the photo. There are many other ideas on how to make a lighthouse.

    For example, for the following you will need:

    • flower pots;
    • white and scarlet acrylic paint;
    • pot trays;
    • glue;
    • refractory glass;
    • candle.
    Let's start by painting the round protruding part of the pots with white paint. Outside, decorate it with scarlet.

    To draw the windows perfectly even, cut out a rectangle inside the sticky note paper. Attach it to the pot, paint the hole black.

    Cover two flower pot trays with blue paint. When all this is dry, you can collect our lighthouse. Glue the three pots together with the largest one on the bottom and the smallest one on top. Glue the pallet on the last one, put a transparent glass on it, in which you place a candle.

    It needs oxygen to burn. To do this, drill a hole in the second pallet in the center or make it with a heated nail. Flip the pre-painted blue color miniature pot. Glue it on the prepared pallet with a hole. Place this design on a candle. The lighthouse will be safe, decorate the house, cottage.

    Then put it in a wide bowl or in a basin. Here you will pour dry food for birds, thereby helping them survive harsh winter and draw them into your gardens. Birds will help to cope with small pests and will be beneficial.

    If you are thinking about how to make a lighthouse so that it illuminates the path in the country at night and in the evenings, then stick an ordinary solar-powered lamp into the hole in the upper pot, and the problem will be solved.

    You can decorate your creation with a net by tying it. Glue a few shells, and the marine attribute is ready.

    • wire;
    • Styrofoam;
    • liquid Nails.

    1. Let's start with coloring the pots. First you need to cover them with brown or yellow paint. When it dries, do dark spots. On a brown background, they should be light.
    2. Color the wooden skewers too. When they dry, stick circles of dark plasticine on one edge, which will become hooves.
    3. Using a knife, cut the foam into an oval shape. From pieces of plastic, cut out two ears, stick them into the head of the giraffe. Color this piece brown tone when it dries, draw a mouth and nose, stick ready-made eyes.
    4. Attach the giraffe's legs to its body with liquid nails. Thread the wire first through the bottom inverted pot, secure it here by twisting. Then lift the other end of the wire up, string 4 small inverted pots.
    5. Then a giraffe's head is put on this section of the wire. To make his horns, attach plasticine to the wire, stick the workpiece in place. Instead of plasticine, you can use the same foam. Here's how to make a giraffe out of waste flower pots.
    By the same principle, you will make an elephant. His body is made from big pot and four legs of small ones.

    Find a place for picturesque mushrooms. To make them, turn over a white plastic pot, put a pre-painted flower tray on it with traced circles.

    If you want to make a strict school lady out of pots, then put glasses on her and attach a brooch to her neck. Decorate the head of this character with artificial flowers or dried flowers.

    If a teacher with a pointer is not your option for decorating a summer house, then make such a Papuan. The top pot is both his head and a container for the fern, which will become the character's hair. On his feet you can put on old shoes that no one wears anymore.

    Do-it-yourself flower pots can also be turned into the right item in the kitchen. Draw funny faces on them by choosing any of the presented ones, and you can put knives, spoons, forks inside.
