What is a spider mite. Recommendations on how to deal with spider mites on indoor and garden plants. What does the pest and affected plant look like?

A small number of roots will not be able to feed many leaves and the extra ones will begin to die off. In this case, it is urgent to start growing new roots so that the flower does not completely throw off its foliage.

Chemical burn of the root system with fertilizers

If the plant carried out on dry roots, this causes a burn of the root system and it begins. With a decrease in the number of roots, the amount of leaf mass decreases.

flower fertilize only after wet root system.

Chemical burn of the roots.

Overdrying the plant

At rare irrigation the orchid dries out part of its roots, as they do not get moisture in required quantity. Further, as usual: no roots - no foliage. Necessary urgently resuscitate the flower and its root system.

How to save a plant without leaves? We will answer further.

Resuscitation of an orchid without leaves at home

Exist various methods plant resuscitation at home:

  • if there are practically no leaves, but normal roots remain, then the flower is planted in close with a complete replacement of the soil. In this case, it is better to use the top of the soil than to carry out full-fledged irrigation;
  • with complete loss of leaves- this method assumes that the grower has time, because if you break the order, then nothing can be done with the plant. To do this, the orchid is taken out of the ground and dipped in warm water for 10 minutes. Cut off all unviable roots and sprinkle the cuts with charcoal. Then they make from plastic bottle a mini-greenhouse, at the bottom of which expanded clay and moss are placed, after which they put the remains of a flower on all this and close it with a lid. At the same time, it is necessary to ensure that there is a little water at the bottom of the greenhouse and, if necessary, top it up;
  • it happens that the plant loses its leaf plates due to transportation in winter. In this case, it will not be difficult to grow new foliage. At the same time, those that are removed and flower stalks so that the plant does not waste energy on. The orchid is transplanted into necessary soil and carry out the usual for her. There are 2 options for development: either the growth point will grow, which is unlikely. Most likely, the remaining stump, if there is foliage on it, will give a lateral one. It is due to her that orchids will last.

IMPORTANT! Make sure that the temperature in the greenhouse does not rise above 33 degrees Celsius so that rotting does not resume.

In the complete absence of leaves

If we succeeded due to improper care that the orchid's rosette of leaves fell off, how to reanimate the roots? To do this, you need to examine them and decide, How viable are they?

  1. Roots should be dense;
  2. Possess elasticity along its entire length;
  3. The color of the roots should be uniform - green or silver;
  4. If you touch them, they are hard and smooth.

This is a description of healthy roots, but if the roots are black and soft, the process of decay has begun, because of which its own plant lost its leaves. In this case, we save like this: we cut off all black and soft places to a healthy light fabric.

IMPORTANT! The procedure for cutting rotten parts is mandatory to stop the death of the orchid.

After pruning, the roots are treated for rot with any fungicide and left to dry until all sections dry well. After this time, the place where the roots should be is treated with root to start the process of forming new roots.

After following these recommendations, if the plant still has roots, it is planted in the bark of a small fraction, where it will build up its root system. If there were no roots and leaves, then the remains of the flower put in a greenhouse. This is, for example, a plastic 0.5 l. a glass, on the bottom of which moss is placed, slightly moistened, and a plant is placed on top in such a way that so that its bottom does not touch the wet moss.

From high humidity roots will start to grow. These are the methods of resuscitation that will help restore the plant.

If only one leaf remains and there are no roots

If only one leaf without roots remains from an orchid, is it possible to save such a plant? It's worth a try. For this everything that no longer comes to life is removed from the flower - rotten or dry and leave to dry for 6 hours, after treating all sections with cinnamon or charcoal. Then you should place it in closed system or a greenhouse.

If you decide in, then expanded clay is placed on its bottom with a 4 cm layer, then moss, bark and again moss. A flower is planted in this soil. At the same time, water is poured onto the bottom so that it covers only expanded clay.

pouring water, you can not fall on the remaining leaf of the flower. If during such resuscitation the sheet loses its own, then it is better to cover it with a jar on top for a couple of days to increase humidity or wipe the sheet daily. To do this, one tablet is added to 200 gr. glass of water.

IMPORTANT! An orchid with one leaf without roots needs special attention. It is necessary to monitor the condition of the leaf so that it does not turn yellow and does not lose its turgor.

Without leaves and growing point

Experienced flower growers believe that It is necessary to carry out resuscitation and save the plant.

Can it be revived?

While life is glimmering in a flower, it is worth fighting for it, and not giving up and throwing out a diseased plant. After all the loss of the top does not mean that the rest is also dead.

Even without a growing point, an orchid can survive.

Technology

If the top has dried up, then it is actively covered with charcoal or foundation and this is done periodically so that there is no moisture there. It is impossible to spray the plant, so as not to provoke rotting.

Result

About six months later provided that there are no bays and overdrying of the soil, stump will give side babies, which can be left on this bush or planted in separate containers.

With no leaves and living roots

If there are no leaves on the orchid for a number of reasons, then in the presence of healthy roots, it is planted in a new soil and grown in the usual way.

The only thing needed is do not water the roots, but spray, since the flower needs less moisture, because there is no surface for it to evaporate.

With frostbite

In a new soil, having processed all places with a foundation. Wherein Frozen foliage must be removed from the bush so that it does not provoke rotting. To do this, the sheet is torn into two parts along the sheet. Then each part is cut off separately. After a while, a new growth point will appear on the stump or side children will go.

Conclusion

If a plant is in trouble and it has lost its leaves, do not immediately throw it away. After all resuscitation carried out in accordance with all the rules will extend the life of the orchid. And how and what to do, you already know.

Orchid being the most beautiful indoor flower, is very capricious plant in terms of cultivation. Therefore, it is not uncommon for a situation where it remains without leaves. This article will tell you how the resuscitation of an orchid without leaves takes place.

Usually the leaves of orchids begin to fall off after the flower has stopped blooming. Very often the reason that she loses leaves at home is improper care. Of course, if one leaf has fallen, then there is no reason to panic - this natural process. However, if the plant has thrown off all the leaves, you need to understand.

Stem denudation in this species indoor plants usually associated with the condition of the roots. The reason here is excessive flooding of the plant with water. It is especially important to properly water blooming orchids. At the same time, there are rules for watering this flower in different periods of the year. The root at high humidity begins to rot and the flower lacks nutrition.

except improper watering Excessive fertilization can lead to this situation. They cause a chemical burn of the root system. Rotten roots are not able to perform their functions at the proper level. In an orchid without a growth point, all the leaves fall, which in the near future leads to the death of the flower.

If the roots rotted, then the plant will die in the near future without the necessary resuscitation in this case.

Tidying up the roots

So that the orchid without leaves does not die, it is necessary to carry out resuscitation. And you need to start from the roots. At healthy plants Roots have the following characteristics:

  • they are quite dense;
  • have elastic uniformity over the entire surface;
  • monochromatic color. Dry roots are silvery, while wet roots are green. Young roots are lighter in color. The old ones are characterized by a brown or gray tint;
  • they feel dry, hard and smooth to the touch.

If the roots do not have these characteristics, then they began to hurt and rot. To determine that only the roots are the cause of leaf fall, the flower should be removed from the substrate and its root system should be studied in detail. The following signs indicate rotting or infection:

  • color change;
  • development of slimy and wet areas;
  • when pressed, water flows out of the roots;
  • there are collapsed filiform roots.

If the roots rotted, what to do? All rotten and damaged roots are needed. This is the only way to save an orchid if its roots have undergone pathological processes. Pruning of roots with rotten areas is carried out carefully, down to healthy tissue. Those roots that have dried up are also cut off.

If you remove several damaged root shoots, then this flower will not affect the viability of the flower. Those processes that remain will completely cope with the nutrition of the orchid.

But what if there is not a single healthy root left in the pot? Is it possible to restore the plant in this case? Here, all affected areas should be removed without exception, and the sections should be sprinkled with powder prepared from activated charcoal or crushed cinnamon.

After the powder has dried, those roots that remain are placed in a fungicide solution. This will prevent the development of harmful fungi in the rhizome. When the roots are dry, the remaining root system of the plant should be treated with a growth stimulator to speed up the formation of new shoots.

A plant with dried roots is placed in a new one. The remaining roots are carefully placed in it. It is better to choose a substrate that dries quickly enough. Discard the rest of the substrate. Thus, the resuscitation of phalaenopsis and other varieties of orchids is carried out.

Adjusting temperature and lighting

Many novice flower growers do not know how to save an orchid from death after it has lost all its leaves. It's not enough just to cut everything rotten roots. Still need to create optimal conditions flower growth at home. And the most important here will be lighting and temperature.

Orchids should be placed on a lighted windowsill in a little shade. In this case, it is impossible for direct Sun rays because they cause burns. Therefore, after processing the roots, the flower should be placed on the eastern, northern and western windows.

The temperature regime for an orchid must be selected depending on the variety. Since some species prefer a lower temperature. For them, even +25 degrees can lead to heat stroke. The fact that the flower received a heat stroke is evidenced by shrunken and soft leaves. To avoid this leaf blade should be sprayed periodically with water.

If we restore the orchid after the leaves have fallen, it is imperative to choose the optimal temperature and light conditions for the variety. To do this, the room must be well ventilated. However, you can not put the pot in the path of drafts.

Firming preparations

Another in an efficient way how to revive an orchid without leaves is the use of various strengthening preparations. They can process the root remaining in the plant.

These drugs include primarily growth regulators, which help to strengthen the immunity of the flower. The most commonly used drugs are Epin and Zircon. It is worth noting that it is necessary to treat the roots remaining at the flower with a solution of a certain concentration. The instructions for each such drug have a clear description of the preparation of the solution. One orchid can be periodically treated with different means.

After treatment with such preparations, the plant will restore strength for the further formation of new leaves and flowering. However, this treatment is not a panacea. If the orchid has fallen leaves, it should be applied to its resuscitation A complex approach. This approach to reanimated flowers will allow you to quickly normalize the state of plants and create for them right conditions growth. You may have to wait a longer period to achieve flowering.

To quickly revive indoor orchid, in which all the leaves have fallen at home, flower growers suggest using the following tips:

  • do not wait for the plant to fall off all the leaves, but immediately remove the flower from the pot and check the condition of the roots;
  • track the periods of natural change of leaves, so as not to confuse the norm with pathology;
    • use optional equipment(for example, indoor greenhouses);
    • always transplant reanimated plants into a new and fresh substrate;
    • strictly adhere to the concentration when using strengthening drugs.

    Flower restoration can take from a month to one year.

    Now you know how to reanimate an orchid without leaves so that it does not die at home.

The summer resident will have to decide this for himself: it all depends on the condition of the plants. If during the winter some branches broke or the trunk split under the weight of snow, of course, it is necessary, without delay, to put the crown in order. Purposeful pruning during sap flow is hardly worth it. You should know that pruning trees is not an end in itself. It is quite possible to do without this operation or make it minimal and corrective, if trees are formed correctly from an early age. In photo 1, you can clearly see how pointlessly they cut off mature tree. Not only was he not formed correctly, but in the future nothing was corrected, but only worsened his condition. Such a strong pruning will cause intensive growth of tops, which will grow in 2-3 years and form new, even higher floors of an awkward crown.

Studies only confirm the harm of magnetic fields (in microwave ovens, from induction cookers etc.) “After irradiation, radiation signals appear in the samples different shapes, different amplitudes at the same radiation dose and differently "superimposed" on the original signal. Based on this, it can be assumed that the starting materials initially contained a small amount of free radicals. Under the influence of electromagnetic irradiation, the number of such paramagnetic centers in the samples increases or new ones are formed. The concentration of paramagnetic centers or free radicals is directly proportional to the time and (or) power of exposure. English: The accumulation of free radicals in the body with food altered by magnetic waves causes cancerous tumors.

During the period of tuber germination, there are always the greatest losses, and they are associated with waterlogging of the soil, as a result of which the tuber rots. To avoid unwanted losses, I do this. I plant the tuber in moist soil flush with it, put the pot in a bag and put it in a bright place, without direct sunlight.

The question arises, what to choose, beauty or health? It is quite logical that in bedrooms and children's rooms it is best to get by with harmless paint, and if you want beauty unbearably, then other types of ceilings are best done in those rooms that are least used - living rooms, common rooms, corridors. A photo: Potentially hazardous water residues
at the core of the plant

UPPER SHEET monopodial orchids such as Phalaenopsis or Vanda is called CORE or GROWTH POINT. Severe damage to this leaf may result in the fact that the orchid will no longer be able to grow up from this particular "outlet" and will be forced to give LATERAL PROCESS (BABY) on the stem or peduncle, due to which further growth will occur.

DAMAGE THE GROWTH POINT, of course, there are many ways, for example:

  • drop the pot and BROK IT ;
  • it can BURN in the bright spring or summer sun;
  • it may develop BACTERIAL or FUNGAL INFECTIONS;
  • or WATER can get into the CORE (and it looks like a funnel) during irrigation, a long stagnation of which, in combination with poor lighting, low temperatures on the windowsill or high humidity in the room (greenhouse) can lead to its RETINATION, it is on this scenario that we will stop.

A photo:
(stagnation of water for 3 days)

It is impossible to say that such rotting of the core is a frequent phenomenon. In the home care culture of Phalaenopsis(s) or Vanda(s), you will be more likely to meet infectious diseases than with ordinary rotting from stagnant water. However, its occurrence should not be ruled out in principle.

A photo: Phalaenopsis(a) core rot
(stagnation of water for 3 days)

In order for the processes that cause decay (destruction of cells) to begin in the core, water must not only get there, it must remain there for enough a long period, for example, for a day. Imagine this in the heat summer time quite difficult, since the sun shines on the orchids, the temperature environment high enough, all the accumulation of water within 1-2 hours will evaporate without residue, except perhaps in greenhouse conditions (where it is very high humidity air) evaporation may be difficult. Of course, incidents are possible when you put an orchid that has just been watered from head to toe in direct sunlight, the sun can burn out in places where tissue accumulates, or, evaporating, the moisture will cool the young leaf very much, and it will receive damage similar to frostbite but these are more exceptions to the rule than the norm. A somewhat different situation may arise in autumn-winter period, especially if the window sill is stone, it blows from the window, they didn’t have time to turn on the heating in time, or the orchid is under an open window, the water stuck in the core cannot evaporate and gets stuck there for a long time.

The time during which the destruction of tissues will occur is not regulated by what softer leaves, the faster, and vice versa!

The main PREVENTION of any disease is the strict observance of all the required rules for the care and hygiene of the plant.

  • The location of the orchid should be chosen according to the LIGHTING, TEMPERATURE and AIR HUMIDITY.
  • The room where the plant is kept must be regularly VENTILATED, and watering should be done only when all MOISTURE FROM THE SUBSTRATE WILL orchid DRINKED, i.e. it will be completely dry.
  • IN without fail within 40 minutes after each watering, it is necessary to REMOVE the WATER accumulated in the core of the plant, using dry paper handkerchiefs or napkins for this purpose.

A photo: Phalaenopsis(a) core after removal
all the rot

TREATMENT METHODS:

In order for the rot not to spread deep into the stem and to neighboring leaves, the damaged area must be REMOVE TO HEALTHY GREEN TISSUE. Do not be afraid to cut out the entire core, without it the plant will be able to survive, but the process of decay can spread throughout the orchid, then there will be nothing to nurse.

Although this type of decay is not caused by dangerous pathogens, cutting objects (knives, scissors, etc.) should preferably be either dipped in alcohol or calcined over fire after each cut, since you are working with open wounds, and anything that can get into it anything (fusarium, pythium or harmful bacteria). CUT POINTS (WOUNDS) also need DISINFECTION. For these purposes, it is desirable to use iodine, brilliant green, cinnamon or crushed Activated carbon(sold in tablets in a pharmacy).

The first time after amputation, it is imperative to monitor the condition of the wound, and if signs of new decay are found, it will be necessary to clean and disinfect everything again.

Among beginners in the world of orchids, situations often arise when they do not fully understand whether the growth point is damaged. Mistaking damage to the sheet following the core as damage to the core itself. If, after removing the problematic leaf, a very small leaf is still left at the top of the orchid stem, THE GROWTH POINT IS STILL ALIVE and can continue to develop further.

As mentioned above, the GROWTH POINT in monopodial orchids is ONE, and after it is damaged, this "rosette" will no longer grow, the orchid will begin to multiply, i.e. give KIDS. There are two options for their appearance:

  • from "sleeping" buds (meristems) of FLOWERS and
  • from "sleeping" buds (meristems) located on the STEM.

A photo: A baby that grew out of a "sleeping" kidney
on the peduncle

A photo:"Sleeping" bud (meristem) on the peduncle,
covered with protective scales

They can grow completely independently, and sooner or later they will definitely do it. Don't worry too much when suddenly a new young peduncle appears instead of the long-awaited lateral baby, there will definitely be "sleeping" buds on it, and each of them can potentially be your future baby. However, children can be helped a little, for example, from the options available at home - purchase HORMONAL CYTOKININ PASTE(Keikiboost, Keiki Grow Plus, etc.), smear meristems on her and wait further development events.

If there are usually no problems with the mechanism of the appearance of children on peduncles, since all meristems ("sleeping" buds) are in sight, then some misunderstanding in the question may arise regarding where the meristems are located on the stem. There is an analogy with a peduncle here. On it, all meristems are covered with protective scales - small leaves, and on the stem, each meristem is closed (hidden) under the leaves. They are located in the axils between the leaves, exactly in the place where the leaf is attached to the stem. If you try, they can be gently smeared with hormonal paste, however, in no case do not cut off the leaves for this purpose. Often deep in the roots, where the leaves have long since died of old age, there are still living (green) meristems, and if you see them, process them better.

For growth, the baby needs good lighting and a temperature of at least 16-18 ° C. How better light the faster they will appear.

The development of children can occur DIFFERENTLY, in some, the green mass (leaves) will grow faster, while in others, the roots. There is no and cannot be any universal rule here, since it depends not only on the genetics of the plant itself, but also on the conditions of its maintenance, and on whether the meristems were treated with hormones and in what concentration. So, for example, after cytokinin, the roots grow, as a rule, worse, and if the processing took place in winter in conditions of poor lighting, when the "sleeping" buds had to be processed several times in order to somehow force them to develop, then you can then not see both 12 and 18 months.

Some children grown on the stem of a plant prefer to use the mother's root system for a very long time, representing, as it were, the second growth point of the plant. It can last up to 3 years, extremely rarely, more. In any case, sooner or later, the baby will give its own roots, and it will be possible to remove it from mother plant and plant yourself. Most often this is done when its roots reach 5 cm, otherwise it will be somewhat problematic to plant them in a pot without breaking them off. In children with smaller roots, stunting of leaves is often observed, they become smaller, grow more slowly. This happens due to the fact that young plant throws all his strength into growing roots in order to gain a foothold in the new substrate as best as possible.
