Flowers rose wings of angels. Angel Wings - Chinese rose Angel Wings: tips for caring for and growing from seed. Video - Sowing Chinese rose seeds

All my friends grow about the same flowers on their windowsills. But I wanted something different, especially since my friends grow plants with good foliage (like spathiphyllum), i.e. intended for cultivation in partial shade. All my windows face east. So I needed something that would bloom in the sun.
And in the online store I saw the seeds of the Chinese rose "Angel Wings". And I thought it would be just great if I could grow something interesting from these seeds.
There were 7 seeds in the bag, which I planted in two pots. I covered it with a film and put it under the battery (it was in February). There was nothing for a month! I decided that everyone ... will not rise. But the soil was well moistened. After about 3 weeks, I saw one sprout in each pot. Then I was upset and happy at the same time. Because it’s a shame that the germination rate turned out to be so low (2 plants out of 7), but on the other hand, I wasn’t going to breed them! One plant would be enough for me.
And then they began to grow ... by the way, I will say that I planted a Chinese rose on the same day with strawberries and eggplants for seedlings (for summer cottages). And I was very surprised by the speed of development of roses! Because vegetables all at first throw out 2 cotyledons, and after a while the first true leaf appears. In the case of the Angel Wings rose, everything went wrong! Almost a day after I noticed the shoots, a real leaf appeared! Those. the seeds sat for a month, then they just flooded!
A week later I had neat bushes, and then I saw one more sprout in each pot. Those. I have 4 plants. And just recently got out the fifth. Those. the seedling rate is very slow, but the growth rate is wonderful!
The leaves of the roses are neat, carved and very pretty - they really resemble roses.
Let me remind you once again: I sowed the seeds in mid-February, and at the end of April my roses began to bloom! The first flowers did not turn out quite the same as the manufacturer promised. After all, judging by the packaging, "Angel Wings" are blooming double flowers(i.e. when there are many, many petals layered one on top of the other). But I have only one such flower. I hope this is because the plants are still quite small.
The rest of the flowers are all five-petalled. But I also really like them.
Another interesting point: at the beginning of flowering, the flower may be more or less pink, but the closer to the end, the lighter it becomes. At the very end, the flower turns white (unless, of course, it was originally so). My first flower just opened white color. But all the rest turned white already then. It was interesting to observe how on one plant there were flowers of two shades at once: bright pink and white.
The only negative is that my flowers fade very quickly: they are pleasing to the eye for only a couple of days, and then crumble. True, this applies to the five-petal. Terry keeps for almost a week. So I hope that over time, when the plants get stronger and mature, the flowering period will be longer.

Angel Wings variety is also called Angel Wings (Angelwings). It belongs to perennials, both garden and potted. Despite the fact that the tropics remain his homeland, he feels great in the Russian climate.

Detailed description

ATTENTION: Angel Wings is a shrub 20 cm high. It has small and neat leaves of bright green color. The stem is thin, but strong. His color is also green.

There can be quite a lot of leaves, and they also differ in size. On one bush can form up to 100 inflorescences. The most common are white and pink flowers, as well as all their shades. Petals are double and smooth. As the flower grows, the number of petals increases, and at the end of growth, an elastic bud is formed.

History of occurrence

The plant was first discovered in southern China, and only in the 18th century was it brought to Europe. Today, Angel Wings are successfully grown in the tropics and subtropics, as this climate is the best suited for culture.

Bloom

When and how?

If you grow Angel Wings in a pot, then flowering lasts without interruption. AT open field this period lasts from April to July. During flowering, the bush is strewn with terry and simple flowers pale pink and white-yellow.

Care

During flowering, top dressing should be applied 1 time in 2-3 weeks. To do this, use complex mineral compositions where nitrogen is present at the lowest concentration. In addition, during the flowering period, hibiscus needs abundant watering. In spring and summer, do it 2 times a day - in the morning and in the evening.

After the buds have faded, they must be removed. not to violate decorative look culture. At the end of flowering, the plant needs pruning (you can find out more about when and how to properly prune a Chinese rose). Watering can already be reduced, as can application nutrients.

There are many reasons why the Angel Wings variety does not bloom:

To stimulate a flower, he needs to arrange a "winter". The point is that during winter months limit watering (once a week).

  1. Set the pot with the plant in a room where the temperature is 15 degrees Celsius. Under these conditions, flower buds are laid in the required quantity.
  2. Also limit lighting by not placing the container in direct, bright sunlight.
  3. At the end of February or at the beginning of March, water the hibiscus frequently.
  4. Loosen the soil after wetting.
  5. Return the pot to its original place with good lighting and perform the first, and then all regular top dressing.

Growing from seed Angel Wings

Landing activities are carried out according to the following plan:

  1. The substrate for planting can be bought ready-made or prepared with your own hands. To do this, combine in equal proportions peat, sod land, sand.
  2. Lay drainage at the bottom of the container. Shredded foam is perfect. Next, pour the substrate, and on top peat tablet after soaking it in hot water.
  3. Before planting, hold the seeds in water or a weak solution of potassium permanganate for 2 weeks.
  4. Lay down planting material into the ground to a depth of 5 mm, sprinkle with earth, slightly moisten it and cover with glass.
  5. Every day, clean the shelter for ventilation.
  6. The first shoots are formed after 30 days, and when 2-3 leaves are formed, you can start picking.

How to propagate?

IMPORTANT: Angel Wings is propagated by cuttings and seeds. The second method of reproduction is preferable, as it is simpler and takes little time.

The process of planting seeds was discussed earlier, so it is worth dwelling on cuttings in more detail:

  1. In the spring, cut cuttings from young shoots of the plant. Just choose the ones that aren't too skinny.
  2. Set the material in water and wait for the formation of roots.
  3. After that, send the cuttings to the ground.

Diseases and pests

This is a small insect that covers the leaves with a barely noticeable cobweb.. After a while, the leaves turn yellow, fall off and wither.

Exactly spider mite- the main reason for the development of gray rot. For prevention, spray the bush with water, but do not allow the liquid to stagnate in rose buds. Remove all fallen and dried buds in a timely manner. If overtaken by a flower, then spraying should be carried out more often. You can carefully water the plant and cover it for 3 days with a plastic bag. Because of high humidity ticks will die.

Effectively irradiate the inside of the leaf plate with ultraviolet light. But this is more suitable for prevention, since such treatment will greatly exhaust the flower.

And although this insect is not so terrible for a rose, but with a mass defeat, the flower is in great danger.

In case of massive damage to aphids, it is necessary to use chemicals that can be purchased at a specialized store.

Prevention of various problems

When growing the Angel Wings variety, the following problems and ways to solve them are possible:

  • dropping leaves. If this process occurs in winter, then this indicates a low temperature in the room or the plant is standing in a draft. To solve this problem, you will have to find a warm place for the flower and reduce watering. If the leaves fall in the summer, then the reason is frequent waterlogging.
  • Falling buds. This is due to dry air. Every day, spray the plant with water at room temperature using a spray bottle.
  • Spotting on leaves. The main reason is increased fertilization or lack of light. To solve this problem, you need to temporarily stop making the nutrient composition and provide full coverage.
  • Chlorosis occurs as a result of impaired plant care. The leaves are deformed, twist, change shape, the buds fall off without blooming. Lack of zinc, manganese, potassium and iron can affect the development of chlorosis. You can save a flower if you transplant it into a new soil with the necessary fertilizers. Spray every day.

Conclusion

Angel Wings - a variety that is valued by gardeners for its abundant and beautiful bloom and resistance to diseases and pests. The plant rarely gets sick if it is properly and regularly looked after. But you can grow it both at home and on the street. Here it all depends on the choice of grower.

Agricultural technology

You can grow Angel Wings roses from cuttings or seeds. The seed of this variety sprouts for a very long time, so flower growers who want to grow a rose from seed material will have to be patient. But this method has its own advantage - 80-90 days after germination given plant already starting to bloom.

Those who want to grow a rose from seed material will have to be patient

When growing this variety of rose from seeds, a nutritious soil mixture should be properly prepared - it should be fertile enough and pass moisture and air well. Planting this seed is no different from planting any other seeds at home.

Propagation of this hibiscus variety by cuttings - more fast way, and almost all the resulting seedlings take root. Cuttings should be cut only from young shoots and immediately placed in containers with water until they give roots. Planting seedlings with roots in open ground should be in mid-spring, when the soil warms up well.

Seedlings quickly adapt to a new place and grow. Their main conditions active growth and the beginning of flowering - regular watering and fertilizing. As a result, already a couple of months after planting the cuttings in open ground, the first buds appear on them. They should be cut off in order to activate the abundant formation of flowers in the future.

Seedlings quickly adapt to a new place and grow

Wintering of young bushes goes well if they are covered in a timely manner plastic wrap. In the future, this perennial can not be covered for the winter if the winters are not too cold.

Advantages and disadvantages of the variety

The main advantages of the variety include:

  • abundant flowering;
  • medium frost resistance;

Rose Angel Wings is a perennial that belongs to the Chinese hibiscus. grown and how indoor plant, and in gardens. Raise a Chinese beauty with large bright colors complicated. But with a strong desire, following the rules of planting and the advice of professional gardeners, it is quite possible. Growing roses Angel Wings from seeds at home will be discussed in this article.

Characteristics and features of the Angel Wings variety

Small lush bush with many branches strewn with delicate inflorescences light shades, has long been one of the most popular Chinese hibiscus scrubs among gardeners. It grows up to 20 cm high with thin, but strong, green stems. There are a lot of branches on the bush, which gives it splendor and elegance. The leaves are bright green, small in size, serrated along the edges.

The angelic polyanthus rose blooms for a long time and plentifully. One rose bush can have up to a hundred inflorescences. Buds for a plant half a meter long, large, from 4 to 9 cm. The petals of each subspecies are different. They can be terry, semi-double or flat. The color of the flowers is white and pale pink. Sometimes one bush can combine flowers of both colors. They are connected in inflorescences.

Chinese rose Angel Wings, grown in the garden, blooms from early April to late July, in a pot - all year round without breaks. It can be grown by seeds and cuttings. Seeds of culture germinate for a very long time, so patience is required during its reproduction. After they have ascended, the first flowers appear already in the third month. Rose Angel Wings differs from other Chinese roses in higher winter hardiness. This is especially noticeable on bushes grown from seeds.

Growing Rose Angel Wings from Seeds

Chinese rose is not demanding on the soil. The main condition is that it should be light and pass moisture and air well. It is recommended for planting seeds to purchase a special soil designed for hibiscus. But you can prepare the soil yourself. The peat substrate must be mixed with humus and river sand. Then pour a weak solution of potassium permanganate to destroy the larvae of pests and midges.

In order for the sprouts to hatch through the shell, they must be stratified. For this you need:

  1. Disinfect seeds. Dip in hydrogen peroxide. Keep 20 minutes. Remove floating seeds, as they are empty and unsuitable for planting.
  2. Take out the seeds, put them on a slightly moistened non-woven material, cover them on top. You can also use cotton pads. Wrap in plastic bag and put in the bottom of the refrigerator for 60 days. After this time, the first shoots should form.
  3. Seeds should be constantly checked and moistened if necessary. For prevention, you can re-treat with peroxide.
  4. Seeds that have sprouted should be planted in a pot. The container for planting should not be too deep. Small holes should be made in the bottom so that water does not accumulate.
  5. Pour drainage (fine gravel or gravel) on the bottom of the pot, and pour the prepared soil on it.
  6. Put the seeds on the ground and sprinkle with river sand or vermiculite.
  7. Cover the container with a transparent lid, glass or tighten with a film.
  8. Place the pot with planting material on a windowsill, where there are no drafts, or in another well-lit place.

When growing Angel Wings roses with seeds from 10-12 pieces, only 3-5 can grow.

Stratification can be carried out by another method, combining it with landing. To do this, you need a container with plastic lid (great option- confectionery packaging), which will serve as a greenhouse. Place drainage at the bottom, then soil and lay out the seeds previously soaked in a growth stimulator. Fill with sand, moisten.

Keep indoors for 10 days room temperature then put in the refrigerator. After 30 days, sprouts should form. With their appearance, take the container from the refrigerator and place it in a place with good lighting and an air temperature not higher than +20 degrees.

It is best to sow Angel Wings rose seeds in February.

Until the seedlings get stronger, they need to be carefully looked after. In this case, it is necessary:

  • provide the plant with heat and moisture;
  • maintain a temperature not lower than +14 degrees;
  • provide good lighting for 10 hours a day. If necessary, use phytolamps or daylight devices;
  • do not open the greenhouse;
  • prevent the soil from drying out, moisten upper layer using a spray gun;
  • avoid excess moisture;
  • strengthened sprouts begin to ventilate, opening the greenhouse, thereby hardening them. Then gradually increase the ventilation time;
  • do not allow sunlight to hit the plant;
  • in March, the rose can be slowly fed with fertilizers for apartment plants. It is better to fertilize in the morning.

If a second pair of leaves has formed on the seedlings, you can start picking. best period for this falls on April-May. Small roses need to be seated in separate pots.

The flowering of the angel rose occurs in the spring, three months after sowing. The first flowers must be removed so that in the future the bush will give large quantity flowering buds. In order for the rose to grow and sprout new shoots, you need to pinch its top.

Multiply Chinese hibiscus Angel wings can be not only seeds, but also cuttings. They are cut from young stems. Placed in water until roots appear. Then they land in open land. But the sown plants are not so whimsical and more frost-resistant.

In May, when the frosts end, a warm stable temperature sets in and the earth warms up, the rose is planted in open ground. For some time, the plant will get used to the new conditions, after which it begins to grow and bloom. The most abundant flowering occurs in June-July. Continues to bloom until September, but not as much.

Chinese roses tolerate cold well. With weak frosts they do not need shelter, but in order for the plants to successfully overwinter when severe frosts you still need to cover them. How to use a cover material well fir branches, non-woven material, burlap, brushwood. To protect the bushes from freezing, their bases and the soil between the rows are spudded with additional earth, mullein with straw and foliage. After wintering, the shelter is removed.

With the advent of spring, pruning is necessary. Dead and damaged stems are removed, healthy ones are shortened by 1/3 of their length. Spring pruning promotes the formation of new shoots and helps to form correct form bush. The pruning tool must be very sharp and disinfected. Places of cuts are recommended to be processed activated carbon.

In order to provide magnificent long flowering, behind rose bushes need to be maintained regularly. The earth around should be periodically fluffed up so that air can better enter the root system and saturate it with oxygen. It is also important to get rid of weeds.

Mulching is an integral part of Angel Wings rose care, thanks to which moisture will remain around the plant and the grass will stop growing. Be sure to water the flower, preventing the soil from drying out. feed mineral fertilizers and organic. With a lack of nutrients, a rose can get sick with leaf chlorosis, in which buds and flowers begin to fall off, and the foliage curls and changes color.

In the presence of aphids, the Angel Wings rose will stop blooming and begin to fade. The leaves will turn yellow, curl and fall off. To get rid of the insect, the leaves must be washed cold water or soapy water. With too much accumulation of aphids, the bush must be treated with a special chemical preparation designed to control this pest.

With the right regular care Chinese angel rose can grow for more than five years, delighting with its luxurious beautiful flowers.

Rosa chinensis from seeds:

What kind of flowers you will not find in the garden of a true fanatic of flower business and an enthusiastic gardener - from simple daisies to unique exotic plants. Often flower growers grow on their household plots or in home greenhouses and Chinese roses. They bloom beautifully, and the green part of the plant is also able to decorate the garden, because it has a pleasant appearance. Among all the types of hibiscus that are grown by gardeners, the Chinese rose "Angel Wings" is very popular, growing from the seeds of which is a difficult but exciting business.

Rose Chinese "Angel Wings" - growing from seeds

Why are gardeners so attracted to Chinese roses? The fact is that even during the absence of flowers, these small bushes (and sometimes quite high) look very rich. Chinese or Bengal rose (Rosa chinensis) is shrub plant genus Hibiscus. It is an evergreen perennial that can reach 3 m in height. The leaves are deep green, smooth and shiny, with serrated edges. Hibiscus can bloom with flowers of rather large sizes (up to 16 cm), of different colors, both with terry and smooth bud petals. The aroma of the flowers is very pleasant. Under natural conditions, it blooms for a long time, from March to October.

The Chinese rose is now actively cultivated all over the world, but its success story among gardeners began millennia ago in southern China. And only in the XVIII century from the Middle Kingdom, these plants came to Europe. Now the Chinese rose is widespread in the tropics and subtropics - this climate is great for the plant.

On a note! From the petals of Chinese rose flowers, you can prepare a fragrant and delicious tea hibiscus, which has a very pleasant sour taste. This tea normalizes blood pressure, has a diuretic effect, is able to relieve spasms. A freshly prepared Chinese rose flower extract has bactericidal properties.

Despite the fact that the Chinese rose can be grown outdoors, in Russia and many other countries this plant dies in winter. It is temperature sensitive. In order for the plant to winter outside, the air temperature must be at least +12 degrees. And in summer, the rose loves the heat - if the air temperature is above +25 degrees, then the plant feels great. Therefore, more often culture can be found in greenhouses or home gardens. On the street, the Chinese rose lives only in the summer and only if it is wintered indoors.

On a note! The Chinese rose has been honored as the national flower of Malaysia, and its image is minted on coins. There the plant is called Bungaraya.

It is interesting that the described culture has nothing to do with wild rose or a real rose, but nevertheless there is a certain similarity between the genera. Now exists great amount varieties of Chinese roses, which have different sizes and bloom in all sorts of shades of flowers. One of the most popular varieties- this is a rose with the romantic name "Angel Wings" or angel wings.

The plant, or rather, a variety of roses with such a gentle name "Angel Wings" did not just get its romantic name. This is a small perennial shrub plant, quite spreading and lush. The height of the stem varies from 20 to 40 cm, it is covered with twigs, which is why the rose looks very rich. The leaves are bright green, small in size.

Rose "Angel Wings" blooms very plentifully, tirelessly for a long time. The sizes of the buds range from 4 to 9 cm (and this is with a growth of less than half a meter!). At the same time, up to 100 inflorescences can bloom on one small bush. Petals, depending on the subspecies, can be velvety-double or smooth - this variety of Chinese rose is very variable. But in any case, the shades will be delicate and light - pink, pure white.

On a note! Contrary to the opinion of some beginners in the world of floriculture, Angel Wings, Angel Wings, Angel wings are all names for the same variety of Chinese rose. Interestingly, this is the first variety grown from seeds by Russian gardeners.

It is the variety "Angel Wings" that is the most common in Russia. However, the seeds of this rose are rather tight, and it will take a lot of effort to make them all sprout. Although it is worth being prepared for the fact that they will not germinate together. But on the other hand, if the plants have already sprouted, they will please with the first flowering after 3 months in the first year of sowing.

The culture grows well both in the apartment and in the open field, subject to all necessary conditions cultivation and maintenance. However, compared to others, the Angel Wings variety is particularly winter hardy. And this quality is especially distinguished just by bushes grown from seeds, and not obtained by cuttings. And the cost of ordinary planting material is not as high as the same seedlings, but already grown by someone else.

Seed and soil preparation

Rose "Angel Wings" is not demanding on the soil - you can buy it at a gardening store. Well, if it is specifically designed for hibiscus. The most important thing is that the earth should be airy, sufficiently (but moderately) moisture-intensive. If there is no special soil on sale, then you can prepare it yourself: for this, in the usual peat substrate add some sand and humus. At the bottom (and even for adult plants), you should definitely put some drainage material (for example, expanded clay). To disinfect the soil and protect it, it is shed with a weak solution of potassium permanganate - if there are midge larvae in the soil, they will all die from such chemical exposure.

Containers for growing from seeds should be taken shallow. Well fit plastic containers from foods, such as cookies. Having placed a little drainage material on the bottom, the prepared soil is poured on top.

Seeds of the "Angel Wings" variety need stratification. This procedure will speed up germination and increase the overall chance of sprouts. Stratification is a way of mimicking natural natural conditions, in which natural mechanisms are triggered in the seeds, causing the sprouts to hatch through the shell.

Advice! Before carrying out the stratification procedure for seeds, it is best to disinfect them first. For example, soak in a pink solution of potassium permanganate.

Table. Stratification of rose seeds.

Steps, photoDescription of actions

To begin with, the seeds are disinfected. The seeds of the "Angel Wings" variety are placed in a small sieve, lowered into a container with hydrogen peroxide poured into it for 20 minutes. The liquid around the seeds will bubble - this is normal. Also during this procedure, you can find out which seeds will never sprout. Empty seeds will float to the surface - they are removed and not planted in the ground.

After disinfection, the seeds are removed from hydrogen peroxide and placed on cotton pads moistened with the same solution. From above, the spread out planting material is also covered with a piece of a damp cotton pad.

"packages" of cotton pads with rose seeds hidden inside, put in small plastic bags. It is convenient to use zip-lock bags for these purposes. With their help, it will be possible to maintain the necessary humidity for a long time. On each package, they must write the date of laying the seeds and put them in the refrigerator in a box for vegetables (air temperature + 5-7 degrees).

Periodically look into the bags and see how the seeds feel. In the event of mold, they are once again dipped in a peroxide solution, packed in new cotton pads and put back in the refrigerator. The first shoots may appear in about 1.5-2 months.

Stratification can be carried out in a slightly different way, combining this process with landing. To do this, the seeds are treated with growth stimulants (for up to 8 hours), and then they are immediately sown in the prepared soil, sprinkled with sand on top. After that, the crops are moistened with water, covered with glass or a plastic bag and left in the room. After a couple of weeks, the container with future seedlings is placed in the refrigerator on the bottom shelf and kept there for about a month.

Very often, the first sprouts (provided that the planting material was of high quality) appear already during this period. During the stratification in this way, the condition of the crops and soil moisture are monitored, and if necessary, the soil is moistened. As soon as the first shoots appear, the container is placed in a bright, but not brightly lit place with a temperature of up to +18 degrees. By the way, if the sprouts did not appear during the stratification period, the container with the seedlings is still removed from the refrigerator and placed in the conditions described above.

Planting a rose

Usually the rose "Wings of Angels" is sown in February. This is the most good time for sowing seeds, if obtained flowering plants want in the spring. If the stratification was carried out as indicated in the table above, then the seeds after the procedure must be sown in the ground.

The container for seedlings is first filled with drainage material, and then with previously prepared soil. At the bottom of the container, drainage holes must first be made so that moisture stagnation does not occur.

The soil is well shed with a Fitosporin-M solution at room temperature.

Seeds are removed from the bags and sown in the ground, laying on its surface.

Top the seeds sprinkled with vermiculite or sand.

Step 5 After that, the container with the seedlings is closed with a transparent lid and the seedlings are waiting.

You can put a container with seeds sown in this way in a warm and relatively well-lit place. As always, one of the best options is a window sill, but without drafts. In some cases, when good quality seeds "Wings of Angels" germinate without stratification.

You should be prepared for the fact that out of 9-12 seeds sown, only 3-5 will sprout. For an Angel Wings rose, this is normal. Seedlings may appear within a month.

Care and conditions for growing

Caring for seedlings of the Angel Wings variety is no different from that for other varieties. It is important to follow temperature regime and humidity conditions. A container with sown seeds must be closed in order to form a greenhouse effect - seed it will be warm and humid. If the soil in the container is dry, then it is moistened with a spray bottle with water at room temperature.

As soon as sprouts appear, it is important to carefully monitor the temperature in the room where the seedlings are located. Seedlings can not be cold, the temperature should be about + 10-14 degrees. It is also important for them to provide good lighting - at least 10 hours a day.

Attention! It is these conditions that will ensure the protection of rose seedlings from the black leg. Otherwise, seedlings may be affected by this disease.

As soon as the seedlings get a little stronger, you can remove the cover from it for a while. It is only important to ensure that direct Sun rays did not fall on tender leaves. Gradually, the period of airing seedlings is extended.

Seedlings are picked around April-May, when they have two true leaves. Already in May, if the temperature outside allows, seedlings can move to live in open ground.

Also, the Chinese rose may well live in pots, which can be taken out as needed on the street. The plant should overwinter in a cool, but closed room from the cold. The temperature in it is maintained in winter within + 3-10 degrees. Only in March "Angels Wings" are entered in warm house and preparing for summer period- they begin to grow young shoots.

Advice! To make the bush lush, pinch the tops of the shoots.

Top dressing is carried out from March to July once every two weeks, the rest of the time the culture does not need fertilizers. Anyone can be a feed universal remedy for potted plants. Fertilizers are applied in the morning. During the flowering period, it is important to ensure that the plant does not dry out, and the leaves are regularly sprayed. In August, the reduction in the number of irrigations begins.

It is noteworthy that the Angel Wings rose variety can bloom almost non-stop from April to mid-July. One plant lives on average for about 5 years, in the open field it looks very good planted in discounts.
