Installation of platbands for interior doors. Preparation and selection of materials. Plank joining options. About the correct installation of platbands How to install platbands on interior

Platbands are decorative overhead strips that perform a decorative and aesthetic load. Their main purpose is to create a frame for the door frame, simultaneously closing the gaps between door frame and the wall and hiding the small defects formed during the installation of the doors.

The installation of platbands on the door cannot be attributed to complex work, but there are situations when, having installed the door with high quality and without problems, novice craftsmen cannot beautifully and quickly install platbands on it. And all because the installation of platbands requires the performer to be extremely collected and knowledge of all the intricacies of preparing the material and the nuances of fastening.

Types of platbands and tools for their installation

For framing doors, you can use different types of platbands, differing both in the material of manufacture and in their shape. The material for platbands is most often wood (solid or spliced) or plastic. There are also steel or aluminum platbands, as well as plywood or laminate.

The shape of the platbands can be flat, rounded and figured. Flat ones are the simplest and most democratic, they will not catch the eye in any interior. Rounded ones differ from flat ones in that they have a rounded frontal part, which gives them unusualness and some sophistication. The most beautiful are figured ones, which are mostly made to order.

But all this variety of types of platbands can be divided into two large groups. The first includes platbands, which at the end have the shape of a rectangle. Their advantage is that they can simply be joined without cutting corners of 45º.

The second group is platbands with a semicircular or figured section at the end. Such shapes look great, but when installed uncut or carelessly cut, their central part will protrude above the bottom end, which will immediately catch the eye. Therefore, their trimming strictly at an angle of 45º is required.

To install the platbands on the door you will need a tool:

  • miter box;
  • electric jigsaw or wood saw;
  • hammer;
  • pencil;
  • roulette;
  • construction corner.

Corner cutting technique

To cut trim at an angle of 45º, it is advisable to use a miter box (a special tray for cutting lumber at a certain angle). But if there is no miter box, then you can use a more complex, but no less reliable way, requiring some knowledge of geometry.

First, on the existing casing, you need to measure the length of the door. At this mark with building level draw a perpendicular line. Then, from this line, you need to measure the width of the platband and draw another perpendicular line along the mark. As a result, these lines form a rectangle on the casing.

Then you need to draw a diagonal in this rectangle, turning it into two triangles. But there is one caveat - you can make a mistake and draw the diagonal in the wrong direction. To avoid this, just put the casing on the door and see in which direction you need to draw. The diagonal should start from the top corner of the door and go up to the ceiling.

Another vertical platband is marked in the same way. But it’s still not worth using the first one as a template, because the dimensions of the two sides of the door frame can - albeit slightly - differ. The horizontal platband is marked according to the same principle, but on both sides, respectively, it will have two undercuts. And only after the end of the markup, you can start trimming.

Using the drawn diagonal line as a marker, you can start trimming the trim. If you cut with an electric jigsaw, then you definitely need to cut it in one pass, without stopping. If the jigsaw starts to move, then the undercut will come out either curved or wavy. If the cuts are made with a hacksaw, then it must be with a fine tooth, otherwise the structure of the material may be damaged.

Platband installation

Installation of platbands should always be started from the side of the door into which the door leaf opens. This is because on this side are located door hinges, due to which the platbands cannot be installed flush with the door frame.

Therefore, in order for the door hinges to move freely, a small indentation has to be made on this side of the door. Moreover, they do it not only from the side of the loops, but also from the opposite side, so that installed platbands looked symmetrical. WITH reverse side boxes, you can install platbands on the door without any indentation.

Depending on the material of the platbands choose best way mounts. For fastening wooden products you can use liquid nails or ordinary small copper-plated or galvanized nails.

Liquid nails are best used if the surface of the wall is perfectly aligned, otherwise it is better to choose ordinary nails. If the platbands are dark, it is better to take copper-plated ones, and if they are light, galvanized ones. You can also mount it on glue, but if in the future it will be necessary for some reason to dismantle it, then with such a mount you will not have to dismantle, but break the old platbands.

Plastic platbands are preferable to glue. They do not need perfectly aligned walls, their flexibility is enough to hide small irregularities. And their cost allows you to break them during dismantling without regret.

Laminated platbands cannot be distinguished from wooden ones in appearance. But to install them, you need a special technique. If you try to simply nail the planks with nails, the material will be damaged. Therefore, during installation, holes for nails Ø1-1.5 mm are first drilled, and drilling should not be through, but leaving 2-3 mm undrilled.

Installation starts from the sidewalls. Choice of left or right side doors depends solely on your taste.

At first, it is better not to nail the planks thoroughly, but only to bait with two nails, hammering them in half: one nail at the base, the second in the middle.

After completing the installation of the vertical strips, you need to install the horizontal one. It is also better to first bait it with two nails, but only hammering them around the edges.

Having acquired all three platbands, you need to correct their location in order to avoid gaps between the planks. The adjustment is carried out by lightly tapping the sidewalls of the planks with a hammer, and if the gaps are large, then you need to carefully pull out one nail and set the bar in the desired position.

Having finished the adjustment, you can proceed to fixing the slats. The pitch of the fixing nails can be different and depends on the way the door is used. If the door will be used frequently, then it is better to choose a fastening step of 15-20 cm, if it is balcony door or a door to a closet, then fastening in increments of 50 cm is quite enough.

If you do not have sufficient experience in the installation operation, then it is advisable to measure all sizes before installing the trim. doorways in the house and start the installation from the biggest one. In this case, if something goes wrong when sawing or installing architraves, incorrectly cut strips can be redone for smaller doorways, thus avoiding the need to buy additional material.

If, despite all your efforts, the platbands did not fit perfectly and small gaps remained at the joints, do not be upset. Buy at hardware store a special mixture to eliminate chips on furniture. This mixture is based on beeswax, so it is enough to heat it over low heat, bringing it to the consistency of plasticine. Then the cracks are filled with this heated wax, and when the mixture hardens, it is polished with a piece of felt and painted with acrylic paint matched to the platbands.

If you do not rush and follow the technology exactly, then the installation of platbands on the door will be an easy and pleasant completion of the installation or repair of the door. Good luck!

Platbands are a decorative element of the door structure that performs an aesthetic function. The task of these overlay strips is to create a frame that covers construction defects and gaps between the wall plane and the door frame. The installation of platbands on the door does not differ in particular technological complexity, but being the final decorative touch, it requires scrupulous accuracy and knowledge of the nuances of sawing and fastening from the performer.

Types of platbands and methods of their fastening

To cash out the door frame, the owner of the bath can use molded products made of wood, MDF or plastic. Carpenters are advised to give preference to laminated or veneered MDF products or PVC platbands, which practically do not react to steam and temperature fluctuations.

Mounting material and specifics:

  • Wooden platbands can be installed on "liquid nails" or fastened with thin nails without hats. Hats can be cut off on their own or fastened with a construction gun that “shoots” with studs without them. When using nails with hats, the fasteners are slightly “drowned”, and the locations are masked with wax corrective pencils or acrylic sealants matched to the tone. The use of adhesives is acceptable, but will create problems if it is necessary to dismantle for cable laying or for the next repair. Liquid nails are applicable only in the case of perfectly aligned walls, otherwise there will be gaps between the casing and the wall to be finished.
  • Outwardly, MDF platbands are practically indistinguishable from wooden counterparts, but their fastening is carried out according to special rules. In order not to damage the planks, the guide holes for the nails are drilled on them in advance. The holes are not through, a diameter of 1-1.5 mm is preferred. MDF, just like wood, can be simply glued.
  • Platbands made of plastic prefer to be glued. Their cost allows you to dismantle cashing without regrets and the desire to reuse. Flexible plastic moldings can be glued to walls with minor irregularities.

Choice of cutting angle for joining

The angle is determined by the presence of a shaped relief on the front side. At the disposal of home craftsmen who figure out how to install trim on doors, there are two options:

  • Planks with a flat surface without a shaped form can be cut down at right angles. The same is done if the door is framed with platbands with a capital. The direction of docking can be either horizontal or vertical. Before installation, saw cuts are painted or tinted with varnish.
  • Embossed moldings, platbands with a rounded surface are cut down at a standard angle of 45º. This is the most common scheme that requires strict adherence to the rules and accuracy. The result of the slightest flaws will be unattractive cracks.

In order to ideally cut the workpiece at an angle, you need to stock up on a miter box and hand saw with small teeth. A flawless edge will turn out if the owner saws on trimming machine equipped with a turntable.

Features of telescopic architraves

Buyers of doors produced by a number of domestic factories are given the opportunity not to use fasteners at all when installing platbands with a patented telescopic design. The happy owners of Volkhovets or Sofya products will not need additional additions, since correction in case of vertical deviations and in case of discrepancy between the size of the box and the width of the opening is carried out by adjusting the telescopic door frame.

Details on how to install doors with telescopic architraves, their owners will learn from the manufacturer's instructions, since each of them has its own technological schemes. A feature common to all is the presence of a protrusion-slot, which is introduced into the groove on the box. Connections are recommended to be strengthened liquid nails.

Step-by-step work technology - measurements and installation

It is recommended to start framing the doorway with platbands:

  • after completion of wallpapering;
  • when equipping doors with platbands on both sides after pasting two adjacent rooms;
  • before laying the plinth.

You need to start work on the side of the door structure into which the canvas opens. That is, in terms of location door hinges. The reference point for measurements will be the bar that closes the box from the side where the hinges are located, since because of them the platband is not installed flush with the box. This indent should be equal on all three lines. For fastening platbands on the back of the door, it is not necessary to indent.

So, the order of work:

  • With maximum accuracy, we measure the length of the vertical bar installed next to the hinges. The distance resulting from the indent is added to the length. The point obtained as a result of measurements will be the beginning of the line along which the excess is cut off from the workpiece at an angle of 45º.
  • For the manufacture of the opposite casing, measurements are made in the same way, but separately. Not the fact that the distance from the floor to the required point will be equal.
  • Sawn planks are baited with two nails. We fix one of them at the base, the second about a meter later.
  • Under the unfixed upper ends of the vertical platbands, we put a blank for the upper bar. We mark on it the points required for flawless sawing at a 45-degree angle, saw off with a miter or simple mechanical saw.
  • We fix all three components.

Base door architraves usually rests on the floor, but sometimes a kind of bedside table-stand is placed under the door frame.

The step of installing studs or nails is determined independently. Carpenters recommend driving in galvanized or copper nails every 15 cm if lovers of slamming the door actively use it. With careful operation from an aesthetic point of view, the optimal step is 50 cm.

If the sawing angle is somewhat disturbed, gaps will inevitably appear at the joining points. Those who did not manage to avoid this due to inexperience do not need to despair. Failures can be masked with sealant. To do this, on both sides of the gap on the platbands, you need to stick a regular mounting tape. Preferably in several layers. Then fill the gap acrylic composition suitable tone.

We bring to your attention fast way accurate markup:

Proper installation of platbands interior doors guarantees significant savings. Cash out in the same way entrance doors, however, platbands are fixed mainly only with inside, since the outer frame is already on the box. The work is not difficult, but meticulous, and without knowing the nuances, you can ruin a lot of material. By the way, carpenters advise inexperienced home craftsmen who want to become more adept in this direction to start with the most dimensional opening, so that in case of failure, the planks could frame a smaller door. Well, having received practical experience can take on complex tasks.

The platbands on the door are important element a finished door structure for a house or a bath, which performs a decorative and protective function.

Overhead strips are designed to stylishly frame the doorway, effectively hide visual defects and gaps that exist between the wall surface and the frame.

Installing door frames is the final stage of door installation. various types. How to install platbands with your own hands to ensure strength and reliability finished construction? In fact, this process is quite simple, the main thing is to know some of the features of individual types of products and how to install them.

Types of trim for doors

To find out how to install platbands for interior doors, it is recommended to consider their varieties. Finished goods can be classified by configuration, material and installation option.

Configuration

According to the configuration, the platbands for interior doors are divided:

  • Straight and flat. Standard option, which is different simple execution and attractive appearance. They are suitable for any type of door, combined with any interior solution.
  • Rounded. Outwardly, they are similar to straight decorative strips, while they have a slightly rounded frontal part.
  • Curly. Products are made in any shape to order, combined with the original and design options door cloths.

Production material

Modern options for platbands are made from various materials with high performance.

  • From a tree. Products are made by milling wooden planks. For wooden elements, well-dried lumber, spliced in length, is used. Planks made of wood can be straight, rounded or curly. bath, sauna or log housethe best choice for such buildings - these are wooden platbands.
  • From plastic. Plastic platbands on the door are made from a safe polyurethane alloy or PVC. They are simple, easy to install and low cost. In addition, these products may have different colors.
  • From metal. Finished products are made of steel or aluminum alloy. They are durable, practical and durable.
  • From a composite. Products are made from MDF, plywood or pressed paper.

Installation option

As for installation, you can install platbands on interior doors as follows:

  • Overhead. Products are mounted on the doorway using ordinary nails, glue.
  • Telescopic. The slats are installed according to the tenon-groove type, when special protrusions are inserted into the small slots provided.

To obtain a symmetrical doorway, the appropriate dimensions of the main elements must be observed during installation.

Preparing the doorway

Before installing the platbands of interior doors, it is necessary to carefully prepare the doorway. Preparatory work carried out in stages:

  • . Since the front strips act as a decorative and protective element of the structure, for this reason, the installation of platbands on interior doors is carried out only after the installation of the door frame and leaf.
  • Removal of excess polyurethane foam. After completing the installation of the box, the remaining foam is cut off, which filled the existing gaps between the wall surface and the door opening. The cutting is done with a thin-bladed knife.
  • Elimination of irregularities and defects. The installed door frame and leaf can cause minor irregularities and defects on the wall surface, which should be immediately eliminated. In addition, the installation of platbands requires absolutely flat surface in order to avoid deformation of the finished structure in the future.
  • Wall cladding. Before assembling the elements, it is recommended to complete all wall cladding work using paint, decorative plaster, wallpaper, etc.
  • Surface cleaning. All work surfaces must be cleaned of dust and debris, and degreased.

Possible mounting options

How to fix platbands on interior doors with your own hands using improvised means? To get started choose one of the 3 available options installation.

Finishing nails

Finishing nails for platbands - this is one of the most affordable and popular installation options. If necessary, decorative trims can be easily removed or replaced with damaged elements.

To simplify the installation process, marks for nails are made on the front surface of the elements, located at the same distance between them. Optimal Distance between two nails - 45 cm.

For driving nails, it is better to use a compact hammer. For grouting the location of the nails, mastic is suitable for the color of the surface.

liquid type nails

The following method of fastening is carried out using a special adhesive composition in liquid form. Glue fastening is reliable and safe. Fixing the front plate is carried out as follows: the adhesive composition is carefully applied on the reverse side of the element, which is pressed tightly against the wall surface for a couple of seconds. Excess glue is removed with a clean rag.

The installation of platbands provides for an effective combination of these two methods, which will increase the strength and wear resistance of the structure.

Telescopic way

This method is suitable for fixing telescopic type slats. Installation is carried out according to the tenon-groove principle, when one part of the element enters its other part. This allows for proper alignment decorative items without the need for cutting. Thorn finished item carefully inserted into the groove in the box.

Making the necessary measurements

Proper installation of platbands involves a preliminary calculation of the required length of the product. To perform washed down strips, first you need to measure its width. Next, measure the same distance from the top. It is recommended to leave a small margin in length equal to the width of the bar.

The standard width of the interior door trim is 7 cm, the thickness is 1.5 cm, and the height is 215 cm. For an interior single-leaf door standard size it is necessary to prepare 5 elements, and for double door– 6 elements.

Finished slats are produced in various sizes, so they differ in width, thickness and height.

Step by step installation work

For work it is necessary to prepare:

  1. Hacksaw for wood.
  2. Fasteners.
  3. Construction roulette.
  4. Square.

All work is carried out in stages:

  1. Prepared products are prepared in height door leaf, the desired length is measured. The element is laid on the floor, measurement is carried out right angle square, cropping is performed.
  2. A bar with an angle is applied to the box, equals vertically and horizontally. The height mark is performed, which is equal to inner corner boxes.
  3. Focusing on the mark, an angle equal to 45 degrees is set. Cropping is in progress.
  4. According to a similar scheme, the bar is prepared from the opposite side.
  5. First, the side strips are trimmed, then the top element. This will prevent the occurrence of errors when installing products.
  6. After completing the preparation, you can install the straps. Small nails are driven into the door box at a distance of up to 45 cm, so that a length of 6 mm for the plank remains on the surface.
  7. To improve the adhesion of the element to the door frame, a special adhesive is applied to the surface.
  8. The finished plank is lightly pushed onto the nail. In this case, it is very important not to damage the front of the product. To do this, a small bar wrapped in clean rags is used as a hammer.
  9. The platband is leveled and pushed onto the nail until it stops.
  10. After installing the side strips, you can proceed with the installation of the upper element, which has angles of 45 degrees.

Now even a novice master knows how to nail trim on doors with his own hands. This process is quite simple, requiring a good eye, attentiveness and perseverance.

The main function of door platbands is to mask the gaps between the door frame and the opening. Their choice depends on the texture, width and color of the door leaf. In the production process of platbands, wood, steel, aluminum, plastic, MDF, fiberboard and PVC are used. If desired, you can buy laminated trim, lined with plastic and covered with veneer. They are mounted after the door leaf is installed. Simple expert advice will allow you to understand how to install trim on interior doors.

What are cashiers

There is a wide range of platbands on the building materials market. different forms. When buying a door, it is important to check whether there are trims in the kit or not.

Usually the width of the casing is about 7 cm, height and thickness - 210 cm and 1 cm, respectively.

In the process of installing an interior door with one leaf, you will need to purchase 5 strips, while for a double-leaf door you will need 6. Two and a half strips will be enough to frame the opening on one side.

Telescopic architraves

In appearance, they look like ordinary platbands. The difference is the protrusion, which is necessary for the connections. This option can be used if the door thickness is narrower than the wall thickness. A special protrusion is attached to the longitudinal grooves of the end of the door frame.

If you correctly install the platbands, the fasteners will be almost invisible. The design serves a long period. Otherwise, if the calculation is made incorrectly, a gap remains. As a result, the design looks ugly.

decorative design

Recently appeared on the market of building materials platbands for decorative design doors are called capitals.

The material for the platbands is solid wood or MDF. They are distinguished by a variety of shapes and figured ruffles.

After installing such platbands, the door will acquire a luxurious finished look.

Structure fastening methods

Often for the installation of door platbands are used:

  • liquid Nails;
  • mounts called "beaks";
  • finishing nails;
  • self-tapping screws.

With finishing nails

This method is considered the most popular, as it has a number of advantages, among which are simple installation and dismantling if necessary. Even an inexperienced person can fix the structure using simple tips.

For work, you will need copper-plated nails with a narrow hat. The nail should enter the door frame by 2 cm. On average, the length of the nail reaches 4 cm.

To do the job accurately, you can put points on the platbands along which the fastening will be carried out. The points are placed at a uniform distance from each other. The optimal distance is 50 cm.

liquid nails

Liquid nails are sold in tubes or tubes.

Mounting is easy and simple.

  • The tool is applied to the casing and pressed for a few seconds. After the time has elapsed, the bar can be released.
  • The advantages of the material include the fact that fastening is not only easy, but also leaves no marks on front side planks.
  • The disadvantage is the unreliability of fastening.

Fastening with self-tapping screws

This method is increasingly used due to its reliability. Even an inexperienced person can do the job by following simple instructions.

  • If the platbands are made of wood, it is worth picking up self-tapping screws, the diameter of which reaches 6 mm and the length is 2 cm.
  • Work begins with markings on the bar. They are placed at a distance of 50 cm from each other. Then holes are drilled. This is necessary in order to prevent cracking of the wood during fastening.
  • To make the self-tapping screw invisible, its hat must be drowned in the bar. It is better to pre-drill the hole a little.

Fastening with "beaks"

The advantages of the method include an attractive appearance fastening, ease of installation process.

The negative side of the method is that the platbands made of MDF, in the process of removing the "beak", can delaminate.

To understand how to properly fasten the platbands, you need to read the instructions that came with the product.

How to get the job done

  1. First of all, the platbands are applied in height to the door in order to correctly measure the desired length.
  2. The plank is placed on horizontal surface, and, using a square, measure and cut off the corner.
  3. A trim with a cut corner is applied to the door frame and aligned along the bottom line and edges. It is also necessary to note the height that would correspond to the door frame.
  4. Given the mark made, using a goniometer, mark an angle equal to 45º. The excess must be cut off and the bar set aside for a while.
  5. The same must be done with the other side. It is worth noting that the upper casing is marked last. Work with it is performed after the installation of the side strips. This sequence of work will avoid errors during the installation of platbands and the formation of cracks.
  6. Having cut the strips, you can proceed to their fasteners. To do this, you need to hammer nails into the door frame and remove their caps with wire cutters. In this case, the length of the nail for successful fastening of the casing must be at least 5 mm. The distance between the nails is 50 cm.
  7. It is possible to ensure optimal adhesion of the door frame to the platband with the help of glue, which is applied to the bar. It is important not to overdo it so that the adhesive does not squeeze out during adhesion.
  8. A platband is applied to the door frame and tapped through a bar wrapped in fabric, planting it on nails.
  9. Having nailed the platbands on the sides, they begin to mark the upper bar. The corners are marked by applying a plank over the side trim, the excess is removed. Install in the same way.

Important nuances

  • A nail or self-tapping screw can be made barely noticeable using a wax corrector.
  • When the platbands diverge at the joints, finishing nails can correct the situation.
  • Small gaps are eliminated with acrylic sealant. A wax corrector is also suitable if you choose a color.
  • If the platband is installed on an interior door, its height must exceed the height of the opening by 10 cm.

Considering simple rules, many people will be able to do the work with their own hands.

To give the living space a complete and most aesthetic look in terms of design, it is enough to learn how to install trim on the door. Installation of cashing is done by hand without any problems. The main thing is to take into account some of the nuances of such an operation.

Platbands from different materials and the nuances of their fastening

The products we are interested in are decorative elements, performed in the form of overhead strips on the door. Their task is to form a special frame on interior door structures, which hides gaps and possible construction flaws between the door frame and the wall plane. Platbands are currently made from MDF, natural wood and plastic.

The wooden cashier is now rarely used, as it is subject to temperature fluctuations, as a result of which its appearance and geometric parameters may change. Planks of wood are usually fastened with nails of small thickness without caps or "liquid nails". The latter are used only in cases where the wall surfaces adjacent to the door are perfectly aligned. If it was not possible to achieve ideal evenness, during operation, gaps will necessarily form between the wall and the casing, planted on “liquid nails”.

MDF platbands are less susceptible to the harmful effects of temperature changes. At the same time, visually they are almost indistinguishable from more expensive and “capricious” wooden products. On the door, MDF strips must be placed with your own hands as carefully as possible. They are easily damaged due to the fragility of the material. When using nails, such strips are first drilled under the fasteners, and only after that the installation work begins. At the same time, the preliminary holes are made of a small section (about 1.3 mm) and not through. In addition, cashing from MDF on the interior door is allowed to be glued.

It is best to purchase veneered or laminated MDF strips. Firstly, they look very good, and secondly, they are characterized by excellent operational properties. By installing such products on different types with your own hands once, you will enjoy their beauty for a long time. Excellent performance and plastic architraves. They are very easy to attach with glue. It is allowed to mount such strips on wall surfaces with irregularities (not very serious). A plastic cashier is inexpensive, you can always replace it with a new one without regretting the money spent.

Features of joining platbands

When installing cashing on interior doors with your own hands, an amateur master needs to ensure that the structure does not have gaps, and the areas where the planks join are perfectly even. The easiest way to join products made in the form of rectangles. In this case, they are "lapped" to each other at a right angle.

Docking can be done both vertically and horizontally. Note! Before joining, the saw cuts of the platbands must be protonated with a suitable varnish or painted.

In practice, for interior doors, strips with a shaped shape on the front side are most often used. It is impossible to connect them at right angles. Here you will have to work hard to correctly make the required angle with your own hands (usually it is 45 °). Sawing the casing at an angle is carried out with the help of a miter box. The saw needs to be taken with fine teeth. It is optimal if sawing is carried out on a trimming unit with a platform rotary type. With such a unit, you are guaranteed to receive platbands with an impeccably smooth and even edge.

If you cannot accurately and correctly cut planks with shaped relief at a given angle, the door structure will “gape” with unattractive gaps. When you are not confident in your abilities and the quality of the tool used, it is better to give the platbands for sawing to the workshop. Then you are guaranteed to get at your disposal "ideal" strips for interior doors.

Do-it-yourself cashing installation - instructions for home craftsmen

Installation on door structures it is right to make planks from any materials: before you mount the plinth; after pasting the wallpaper (if it is planned to put trim on both sides of the door leaf, their installation is carried out after pasting both adjoining rooms).Important! Planks begin to be placed on the side where the door hinges are.

First step installation work do-it-yourself measurements. We take an ordinary tape measure and determine the distance from the floor to the docking area of the hinge and ceiling beam from the side of the hinges. To the value obtained as a result of this measurement, another 10 millimeters should be added. Measure the opposite side in the same way. It is necessary to make a second measurement - these values \u200b\u200bare not always the same.

  • we saw off vertical blanks to the required length and put them in place;
  • we bait (at the base and after about 100 cm up) the side planks with nails;
  • under the upper loose ends of the cashing, we put a blank for a horizontal platband and mark points on it that will allow us to correctly cut the bar with our own hands at a given angle.

Sawing off a horizontal cashier is carried out by an ordinary mechanical or miter saw. After that, it must be put in place and proceed to the final fastening of all three parts of the door trim. If you plan to fix the structure with thin nails or studs, it is better to take copper or galvanized hardware. They are driven in in increments of 15 to 50 cm. It all depends on your desire and the expected intensity of door operation.

It is optimal to choose a distance between fasteners of about 40–50 cm. If you are sure that the doors will open / close very actively, drive in hardware in increments of 15–20 cm. Hide the presence of studs or nails on the casing with acrylic sealant or a wax-based corrector. It is not necessary to use these compositions in cases where the platbands are fastened with “liquid nails” and when they are glued.
