Types of corrugated board: features and their purpose. Wall corrugated board and everything connected with it Types of corrugated board and their sizes

When preparing a series of articles on modern building materials we could not deprive the attention of corrugated board as a super popular facing wall or roofing a metal sheet. Despite the deceptive simplicity, with regards to the characteristics and features of a profiled sheet, many questions arise even among those who work with it professionally. Let's finally take a closer look at the brainchild of the English engineer Henry Palmer, who is credited with the invention of the profiled sheet back in 1820.

Kinds. What is it made of and where is it used?

Profiled sheet is made from rolled sheet steel with different height corrugation, thickness, width and length of the sheet. The profiling of the steel base provides the corrugated sheet with rigidity without increasing weight, and the galvanic treatment makes it attractive. appearance and corrosion protection.

Structure. Find out what's inside

The profiled sheet, like all composite materials, in the context is a puff cake. At the base is a steel sheet that can be coated with:

    Galvanization

    Density of drawing 275 gr/sq.m. Thickness from 90 µm according to DIN EN 10143. Guarantee for galvanizing 5 years. Service life - up to 20 years.

    Aluzinc coating

    Corrosion resistance is 2 times higher than that of standard galvanized steel. It has a 10 year warranty. The estimated service life is up to 30 years.

    Polymer coatings

    Warranty 10 to 20 years. The service life declared by the manufacturer reaches 50 years

Current GOST

current normative document for steel profiles - this is GOST 24045. Over time, changes are made to the standards and there are the following common versions of this document:

GOST 24045-86, status: replaced;

GOST 24045-94, status: replaced;

GOST 24045-2010, status: valid.

According to the material of the initial workpiece, steel profiles according to GOST 24045-2010 have one category: thin-sheet galvanized steel according to GOST 14918.

According to the previous version of GOST, the galvanized sheet contained the following number of subcategories:

    sheets of galvanized steel GOST 14918;

    rolled sheets with aluminium-zinc coating (designated as АЦ) according to TU 14-11-247-88;

    sheets of aluminized rolled products and rolled products with aluminosilicon coating (denoted A and AK) according to TU 14-11-236-88;

    rolled sheets with electrolytic zinc coating (designation EOCP) according to TU 14-1-4695-89.

The main dimensions of the metal profile

For roofing

For a roof type, the wave height is 2 and more see. Moreover, the profile can be complex shape which provides additional rigidity to the product.

According to sales statistics of construction hypermarkets, the choice of the consumer is C 44 and H57 750. The latter was taken as a basis in GOST 24045-94 in calculations bearing capacity roofs.

The length of the sheets can be any. At roofing material stamps H57 the width is 75 cm, H60 - 84.5 cm, H75 - 85 cm. Carriers and roofing sheets corrugation height is 3.5 - 4.4 cm. Product thickness brand "N" is equal to 0.6 - 0.9 mm.

For fence

As can be seen from the table above, almost every type is suitable for the installation of fences and the key selection criterion is usually the economic considerations of the owner.

The fence type has a small ridge height and thickness. Sheet C10 equal in width 90 - 100 cm, C18, C21 and C44 - 100 cm. For wall finishing sheets, the width is from 1.3 cm. Then the height of the corrugation of each subsequent type will increase by 3.25±0.25mm. Grade "C" sheet is the lightest and thinnest - 0.5 - 0.7 mm.

How much does it weigh

The type of sheet greatly affects its weight. With the growth of the “wave” of the profile and the thickness of the sheet, the mass increases. Weight is the main advantage of this product. On average it 1 m2 weighs 7 - 11kg. If this area is covered with tiles, then it will be needed 43 kg. The weight 1 m2 stamp sheet "WITH" equals 5.5 - 7.5 kg.

There are special tables in which, as a function of the brand, thickness and width of the sheet, the mass is shown 1p. m.. or 1 m2 material. To calculate the weight of the flooring, you can also use one of the weight calculators that can be easily found on the Internet.

Patterns and texture of decorative profiled sheet

The drawing on the sheet is printed on polymer material and under the action of temperature, they are sintered with the metal, forming a shell that protects the metal and the image.

Drawings are panoramic and solid. Such material is used, in addition to fences, for finishing the basement or the entire building (profiled sheet under stone, wood, brick, etc.).

An example of a decorative stone effect

An example of a decorative coating under a brick

New technologies protect images from fading in the sun and external environment. According to the manufacturers, the pattern will not fade 15 years.

Coloring of profiled sheet

Of course, works of art like this delight the eye and evoke a sense of beauty, but the cold mind mercilessly attacks the song's throat and demands to resolve the issue in the style of Tom Sawyer, and most likely "already yesterday".

Like other leaf parameters, its color is normalized. The most famous color standard is the scale RAL.

Today it includes 213 colors and each has a 4-digit numeric code. This makes it easier to match the color of products regardless of the manufacturer.

The profiled sheet is usually painted only front side. But under the order they are also produced with double-sided coloring.

Colors according to RAL scale

The photo shows an example of painting a fence according to colors according to the RAL scale

Very easy to order desired color without a visit to the construction base. We poke a finger in the color we like, call the manager and call the unique code from the table. Then it remains only to meet the Gazelle with the material on its site.

What you need to know if you do it yourself

How to cut

The material is perfectly cut with ordinary scissors for metal, electric or manual jigsaw, hacksaw, grinder.

Hole Punch Tool

You can always make something with a hammer and improvised devices. But the one who at least once held a specialized tool in his hands is unlikely to refuse it. To your attention special pliers punching holes Ø 10.5 mm in sheet thickness up to 1.2 mm under brackets for ventilation, drainage, etc.

This easy-to-use tool facilitates installation thanks to its wide opening and adjustable gripping depth. Usually pliers have a set of interchangeable punches.

Profiled sheet seals

For their manufacture goes wood-polymer composite, polyethylene foam and polyurethane foam. They copy the wave of the sheet and prevent moisture, dust and insects from getting into the cracks.

Since the sealant has a porous structure, it does not interfere with air circulation and the removal of moisture from under the roof, as well as the settling of condensate from the bottom of the coating.

Seals are distinguished:

    self-adhesive universal (soft) - suitable for all types of products with a wave up to 20 mm;

    special views used for this type of sheet.

What is the best way to mount?

self-tapping screws

To fasten the sheets to the crate, use pneumatic or electric drill. Self-tapping screws are tightened observing the tightening torque. Their average consumption for the installation of flooring - 5 - 6 pcs/m2.

Rivets

As can be seen from the comparison picture, riveting with a construction gun looks more aesthetically pleasing.

The flooring is fastened with special rivets for these products, since the use of other rivets leads to poor-quality fastening and reduces the service life.

Rivet diameter ( 3.2 - 6.5 mm) is selected according to the thickness of the sheet. For the manufacture of this fastener is a special aluminum and galvanized steel.

For profiled sheet construction, where design is important, colored fasteners can be used.

As one of the most widespread, practical and available materials, corrugated board is used today both in private construction and on large-scale construction sites and repair sites. Ease of assembly, disassembly and reuse, as well as excellent performance characteristics made the profiled sheet in demand for:

  • construction of fences of various types,
  • construction and roofing,
  • construction of fixed formwork,
  • construction and wall decoration,
  • arrangement of interfloor ceilings.

What is corrugated board divided into

Galvanized corrugated board can be produced in various versions. Depending on the wishes of the customer, corrugated metal sheets can have different dimensions, vary in steel thickness. Also, the modern metal rolling industry is ready to offer building material in various color scheme with protective coating on metal polymer coatings, differing in thickness and chemical-physical parameters.

Such a wide variety, it would seem, of such a simple material as a profiled sheet, made it possible to develop several classifications. metal products. Therefore, the corrugated board is divided into different kinds according to parameters such as:

Profile marking

It is the purpose of corrugated board that is easily the basis for creating its marking. From here, the alphabetic characters in the product name are deciphered as:

  • C - wall (facade) profiled sheet used for the construction of fences, partitions and walls,
  • H - bearing, used for the construction of partitions and wall cladding,
  • HC - a roofing profiled sheet used for arranging roofs, in some cases, partitions and fences.

In general, the marking of corrugated board has a more complex symbolic combination and includes:

  • the letter H, C or HC characterizing the type and purpose of the material,
  • a number in mm characterizing the height of the corrugation wave,
  • figure in mm (within 0.45 - 1.5) - the thickness of the galvanized steel sheet,
  • a number in mm - the width of the profiled sheet,
  • figure in mm - the maximum length of the profiled sheet.

Roof decking

Roofing profiled sheet is a material used mainly for finishing the roofs of private premises and commercial buildings. Decking of this category may be marked H or HC, as well as different height corrugations and the total weight of the sheet, depending on its thickness and length.

For roofing works most preferred is corrugated sheet with maximum length waves. This allows you to improve performance characteristics material, as well as renovate or build a reliable and attractive roof quickly.

Bearing corrugated board

Bearing corrugated board - a material marked with the symbol "H" and widely used in construction and during repair work due to its characteristics. The metal produced under the brand name "H" has a fairly high wave, solid foundation and various options coatings with protective polymers.

Depending on the combination of these parameters, the supporting profiled sheet can be used both for the construction of partitions, cladding the walls of buildings, and for arranging roofs.

Wall decking

Wall decking- corrugated rolled metal, used mainly for the purpose of exterior finish building walls. Often, a wall profiled sheet is also used for the construction of fences and fences, as it differs affordable price and opportunity quick installation and dismantling.

The wall profiled sheet is marked with the “C” icon, as well as four groups of numbers describing the height of the corrugation, thickness, length and width of the material.

Galvanized corrugated board

Galvanized corrugated board is the most common choice for those who need a corrugated metal sheet. After all, the galvanized layer protects the metal from harmful effects. environment, thereby significantly extending the service life of structures and their elements.

So the advantages of galvanized profiled sheet include:

  • durability,
  • no corrosion,
  • resistance to minor mechanical damage.

Painted corrugated board

Painted corrugated board - sheets of corrugated steel having decorative coating. This is the most diverse type of profiled sheet in its appearance, providing wide opportunities in the design of buildings, fences and partitions. At your choice, the corrugated board can be painted in any color using special paints and varnishes.

In this article:

Decking is a multifunctional building material that is used for various purposes in construction, therefore it differs in terms of application, coating, corrugation shape, billet metal thickness and other indicators.

Classification of corrugated board by type of material

According to the material of the workpiece, corrugated board is divided into:

  • galvanized steel, corresponding to GOST 14918-80;
  • sheet metal with aluminum-zinc coating, manufactured in accordance with TU 14-11-247-88 (AC);
  • sheet metal with an electrolytic zinc layer (EOZP), in accordance with TU 14-1-4695-89;
  • rolled sheets with aluminosilicon coating (A, AK), manufactured according to TU 14-11-236-88.

Metal thickness and types of corrugations

Essentially, decking is wavy leaf galvanized metal with or without coating, curved trapezoidal, rectangular, sinusoidal and other types of corrugations. The thickness of the metal is 0.4-1.5 mm, the width is 600-1150 mm. In the production of profiled sheets, rolled steel is profiled into corrugations, the wave height of which varies depending on the purpose and is indicated in the marking (8, 10, 21, 35, 44, 57, 60 and 75 mm). The length of the sheet can be any (it all depends on the manufacturer and manufacturing technologies).

The scope and strength of the material depends on the height of the profiling - an indicator according to which profiled sheets are divided into:

  • wall - 8-44 mm;
  • load-bearing wall (roofing) - 21-44 mm;
  • bearing - 44-160mm.

On the Russian market the most demanded corrugated board with three types of profile:

  • wavy- the cross-sectional shape has the form of a smooth sinusoid, which, in combination with the minimum height of the corrugation, gives the material an aesthetic appearance, and is used for the construction of a light roof (visors, canopies), facade cladding, protective and decorative fences;
  • trapezoidal section– gives maximum rigidity and high bearing capacity;
  • cassette- corrugated board with the shape of the corrugation in the form of the letter "P" is most often used to strengthen wall structures.

Sheet structure and features of various coatings

In addition to decorative outer coating, steel in each profiled sheet is covered with several protective layers that protect against destruction and increase the life of the material.

By type of anti-corrosion coating:

  • galvanization is a standard and reliable coating of zinc steel that protects against corrosion. The higher the quality of the sheet, the more quantity zinc was spent per 1 m 2 (indicated in grams).
  • aluminum galvanization (a mixture of zinc and aluminum) - economical option coatings, which manufacturers resort to to reduce the cost of the material. Due to the addition of cheap aluminum, the price of corrugated board becomes lower, but also protective properties decrease proportionally. Therefore, aluminum-zinc sheets are produced with only one more decorative coating, most often polyester.

The upper protective layer has a decorative or decorative-protective function, enhancing the strength of the corrugated board. Most cheap corrugated board– galvanized without color coating. The quality of such material is lower and the appearance is unpresentable, so it is used on large areas, for ceilings or barriers, where the lack of color aesthetics is compensated by low cost. Slightly stronger galvanized with the addition of silicon.

Possible color options:

Polyester (gloss)- the simplest decorative coating for a galvanized or aluminum-zinc layer of corrugated board, used as additional protection metal from corrosion. The disadvantage is that due to the small thickness, the sheet is quickly deformed, glossy surfaces easily damaged and lose their appearance due to scratches, dust.

Polyester (matte)- a more reliable coating, resistant to various damages due to the special structure, reminiscent of velvet, and the thickness of the top layer. It retains its original color for a long time, does not give glare, scattering light.

Pural- coating based on a mixture of polyurethane with the addition of polyamide, 50 microns thick. Highly reliable, resistant to low temperatures and ultraviolet radiation, it is recommended for roofing corrugated board.

Plastisol(and its latest modification, HPS200) is the most durable of all types of coatings (thickness - 200 microns), based on polyvinyl chloride (PVC). This polymer coating with relief embossing and a special dashed notch is designed for difficult climatic conditions, resistant to mechanical damage, and durable.

Useful

Profiled sheet, manufactured in the factory by rolling sheet steel, is called corrugated board. Thanks to metal base the product is strong and durable, the polymer coating protects it from external influences and gives durability, and profiling allows you to achieve additional rigidity without excessive weight. There are different types of corrugated board, differing in technical characteristics and scope of use.

The following types of corrugated board are distinguished depending on the intended use of the material. Products are labeled according to this classification. So, you can purchase a profiled sheet marked C, H and CH, which means:

  1. The letter "H" marks the bearing corrugated board. This is the most durable variety. The height of the profile and the thickness of the material in this type are the largest. To increase rigidity, the profile has additional grooves. These sheets are used in the manufacture of fixed formwork, arrangement of ceilings, for the manufacture of heavy containers, hangars, warehouses, garages and strong fences. In addition, this metal profile can be used for arranging roofs, wall cladding, making wickets and gates. Bearing corrugated board is a particularly strong and durable type of profiled sheet.
  2. The wall sheet is indicated by the beech "C". It is not as durable as a load-bearing corrugated board. Sheets of wall products are most often used for wall cladding. Sometimes a wall is laid under the profiled sheet thermal insulation material. The waves of this type of product are not so high. Decking for walls has a smaller sheet thickness than the bearing profiled sheet. However, this material has sufficient strength to be used as corrugated board for roofing, making gates, fences and wall decoration.
  3. universal products, which can be used both as a bearing and as a wall material, are indicated by the letters "NS". This profiled sheet has an average profile thickness and height. This variety also has increased rigidity and durability. It, like the bearing corrugated board, can be used for arranging roofs, making temporary and auxiliary outbuildings, fences, gates and wall decoration. Universal products are used not only as roofing, but also for the construction of some structures and buildings of secondary importance.

Important! Another characteristic of a profiled sheet can be found from its marking. After letter designation there is a number in the marking that indicates the height of the corrugation.

Classification by type of coating

In addition to the purpose, there are different types of corrugated boards depending on the type of coating. The polymer coating largely determines the service life of the product, which can range from 5 to 50 years. All profiled sheets according to the type of coating can be divided into three types:

  1. Galvanized products have a zinc coating that is applied to the steel base. The minimum thickness of the zinc layer is 90 µm and the density is 275 g/m². The service life of such a product reaches 20 years, and the manufacturer gives a five-year warranty. How thinner layer zinc, the less term sheet services. The thing is that zinc itself is a volatile material. After volatilization, the steel base is exposed and corroded.
  2. For the next type of profiled sheet, a coating of a mixture of aluminum and zinc is used. The manufacturer provides a 10-year warranty for this product, and the actual service life can be up to 30 years. This brand of corrugated board is two times more resistant to corrosion than zinc-coated products.
  3. The most durable types of corrugated board have a polymer coating. The manufacturer's warranty for this material is 10-20 years, depending on the specifics of production and the type of polymer. The actual service life can reach up to half a century.
  4. Painted sheets. Such material is usually used in private construction where the aesthetic component of the material is important. These products are suitable for arranging roofs, wall cladding, making fences. Paintwork usually applied before making a final transparent protective layer.

It is equally important to know what kind of profiled sheet is, depending on the polymer coating used. Manufacturers can use different types polymers to protect the zinc layer, but the main condition is that the thickness of this protective layer should be in the range of 25-200 microns. The color of the polymer may also differ.

There are the following types of polymer coatings for profiled sheets:

  • PE - polyester. This is the most common type of protective layer, which gives the product additional resistance to corrosion. In this case, you can get a matte or glossy surface texture. Glossy finish applied with a layer of 25 microns thick, and matte - 35 microns. Products with such a coating can be used in the middle climatic zone.
  • Pural is a protective layer made from a mixture of polyamide and polyurethane. This coating is particularly resistant to fading. Layer thickness - 50 microns.
  • Plastisol is made on the basis of polyvinyl chloride and is applied in a layer 200 microns thick. Varieties of corrugated board coated with plastisol can be used in regions with complex climatic conditions, since this polymer has increased resistance to temperature extremes and negative external weather influences. Such sheets can cover not only the roof, they are often used for the construction of industrial buildings.
  • Printech is a coating with imitation of wood texture, brickwork or stone. This material is ideal for making fences, temporary structures, kiosks and other ancillary structures where an attractive appearance is important.
  • Coating from composite materials provide not only high specifications but also aesthetic appeal.
  • Lamination is another type of protective coating. The film is rolled onto the product during its profiling. The price of such a sheet will be slightly higher.

Geometric dimensions

If you choose corrugated board, types of coating, marking for purpose and corrugation height are not the only characteristics by which you can select a metal profile. It is worth paying attention to the dimensions of this material. Technologically, it is possible to produce a sheet with a length of 12 m. But it is still more convenient to transport smaller elements, so manufacturers cut a strip of material into individual elements with dimensions that are multiples of 1 m or 5 cm. The cutting accuracy depends on the equipment used.

If you use brands of corrugated board for the roof, then you should not think that it will be difficult to lift a long product onto the roof. Even a 6 m long sheet is lifted by hand, because it weighs a little. When buying a roofing deck, the overlap of the strips must be taken into account.

Attention! The overlap of the strips should be done the more, the smaller the slope of the roof. So, with a slope of 15 °, the overlap should be at least 20 cm. Despite the greater consumption of material, you will reliably protect the roof from leakage.

Manufacturers make profiled sheets with a thickness of 0.03 to 0.1 cm. Products with a thickness of 0.045-0.05 cm are especially common. Do not think that the roofing profiled sheet should have maximum thickness. This indicator can increase the weight of the material, which is not very good for the roof. Significant strength of sheets for this purpose is achieved due to the increased height of the corrugations and additional grooves. The bearing corrugated board for floors has a thickness in the range of 0.07-0.1 mm.

As for the width, the manufacturer in the technical data indicates two values. One of them indicates the full width of the material, and the other is the working indicator, taking into account the overlap of the strips. As a rule, the longitudinal overlap is done on one wave. Standard Width profiled sheet different manufacturers may differ and is in the range of 115-108 cm.

To date, for various construction works(including for roofing) a wide variety of grades of corrugated board are used. And there is nothing surprising in this, because the low cost this material and ease of installation make it extremely popular in the construction market.

But the variety of various brands has another side - sometimes it is quite difficult to figure out which of the brands can be suitable for solving the necessary construction task.

Let's look at how the marking that is applied by the manufacturer on the profile sheet can be deciphered and for what purposes the most common brands are intended.

Marking of corrugated board - decoding by example

When choosing a corrugated board, the marking indicated on its sheets becomes a real treasure trove of valuable and useful information. Only for an uninitiated person, these symbols - numbers and letters - will not carry any meaning and value.

Each person who decides to work with corrugated board needs to at least in general learn the principles by which this building material is marked.

It is best to explain the marking of corrugated board with an example. For example, on a professional sheet applied the following text:

Brand:С21-0.45-750-11000

  • The first letter (C) means:

Wall corrugated board, which is intended for wall cladding, fencing and so on. Also, C21 corrugated board is used for roofing and is used as a base for a soft and independent roof.

Despite the rather low waves, the profiled sheet still has a high mechanical stability and this is facilitated by their symmetry and frequency. And it is the rigidity of the profile that is enough good reason why this brand of profiled sheet is common.

Thanks to the forms of extreme waves, it is ensured excellent level docking and this, of course, is an obvious advantage of C21 corrugated board. The Finnish RAN-20SR is used as the European analogue of C21.

Brand: Profiled C44.

C44 is considered a standard metal profile for roof structures and its shelves do not have additional stiffeners. The indicator of the covering width C44 is equal to one meter and this contributes to the rather wide use of this profiled sheet for the purpose of wall cladding and construction roof structure. The minimum thickness for this profiled flooring is 0.5 millimeters.

Brand: Profiled H57 - 750

This brand of profile is considered one of the most common in construction due to its optimal combination of available characteristics:

  • total coverage width
  • bearing capacity index
  • price indicator

Due to the inclusion of this corrugated board in the standard GOST 24045-94, the general part of the calculations must be performed depending on this brand of corrugated board. In addition, today the production of a profile of this brand is difficult due to the lack of blanks of the required width, which is made from high quality rolled steel.

This metallic profile made from special steel roll type with a width of 1250 mm, as well as rolling grade 220 and more. Often it can be used as an alternative to P57-750 corrugated board.

This profile is intended for work related to the roof, but can be used to create all kinds of enclosing elements, as well as for elements of various fixed formwork.

The maximum step of the used lathing for this corrugated board is three meters. It is classified as a versatile building material. It can be used for fencing and for wall cladding, and besides - as a roofing material.

The mechanical performance of corrugated board can be ensured with the help of rigid ribs rolled according to the shelf technology and by using it as a base. steel sheet galvanized type with a thickness of 0.8 millimeters.

Thanks to a large number stiffeners per unit total area it is possible to use the NS-35 brand as a coating on a sparse used crate with a one and a half meter step.

Double-sided polymer coating is used only for the HC 35 grade with a thickness of 0.5 millimeters.

This grade can be made from steel sheet with a width of 1.4 meters with rigid ribs with a depth of seven millimeters. HC44 corrugated board can be considered universal and suitable for wall and roof systems.

Thanks to high strength of this profile, it is possible to mount it on the crate in compliance with a step of up to two and a half meters.

This brand of profiled sheet is traditionally used as an independent roofing material and as a basis for soft roofing material. In addition, this profile sheet can be used as a fixed formwork.

The corrugated board is stamped from a roll-type steel fox with a width of 1250 millimeters. This type of corrugated board can be characterized by high versatility and excellent mechanical performance, a wonderful level of accessibility.

Brand: .

Similar to the previous brand of corrugated board, the H75 brand can be positioned as a profile for roofing. It can be used for the purpose of arranging various metal roofs, as well as fixed formwork. It can also be used as a base for membrane-type roofs.

The main material in the production of this corrugated board is rolled steel of the highest quality.

This brand is considered one of the most popular brands that are used in many areas. modern construction. Therefore, it is not surprising that this brand is the undisputed leader in terms of production volumes and actual sales volumes.

It goes without saying that this is far from full list grades of corrugated board. Moreover, from time to time, new types begin to appear on the construction market.

By the way, you can watch a video on how to cut corrugated board:

First of all, marking can help to understand the characteristics of a profiled sheet. It is necessary to use only the type of profile that is suitable for the type of construction that you are doing. However, careful reflection and analysis will help to make the right choice.
