Sowing seeds of tomatoes for seedlings. Planting seedlings of tomatoes: how to choose the optimal timing

In winter, many hosts household plots and dachas begin to stock up on planting material for various vegetables and ask themselves the question - when to plant seeds of peppers, eggplant, cucumbers and tomatoes for seedlings? We talked about the timing and rules for planting peppers in a separate article, which can be read by clicking on this one. Here you can learn how to properly and when to sow tomato seeds in 2019 in order to grow and get good harvest.

Tomatoes are a very popular product that only very lazy or busy summer residents do not grow in their garden. Since the heat-loving culture grows for quite a long time, it is grown seedling way. Approximately sixty days should pass from the emergence of seedlings to landing on the garden. The timing of planting tomato seeds depends on this:

  • greenhouse varieties sow should be in late February - early March;
  • outdoor tomatoes planted no earlier than the end of February, since overgrown plants take root worse.

Also, the timing of planting tomatoes depends on weather conditions region. If in areas with a warm climate, tomatoes are planted in a permanent place already in April and May, then seeds can be sown for seedlings in February. In Siberia and the Urals, there are frosts at the end of May, so it is recommended to sow seeds in March or even April.

We must not forget that different varieties have different term development, so when buying seeds, you need to pay attention to this:

  • varieties of large tomatoes usually late-ripening, so they should be planted after February 20th or early March;
  • undersized varieties for greenhouses– from the beginning to the middle of April;
  • tall plants for closed ground (greenhouses, greenhouses) - at the end of March;
  • early tomatoes, which will be planted in a greenhouse or greenhouse - in the second half of March;
  • early varieties for open ground- in the beginning of April.

When to plant tomatoes for seedlings in 2019?

Like other plants that produce a land crop, they plant tomatoes with the growing moon.

Favorable days for planting tomatoes for seedlings in 2019 will be:

  • January - 15,16,18;
  • February - from 6 to 8, 11, 13 and 16;
  • March - 10, 11, 12, 14, 15.16. 19, 20;
  • April - 8, 11. 18;
  • May - 9th, 15th, 17th, 18th;
  • June: 5, 11.12, 13, 15.

In the northern regions, Siberia and the Urals, where tomatoes are planted mainly in April, auspicious days there is practically none for this, so it is recommended to choose a day in the zodiac circle with a growing moon and plant tomatoes from April 7 to 17.

Growing tomato seedlings at home

To get healthy and healthy in the spring strong seedlings, before sowing seeds, it is necessary to prepare:

  1. Seedling containers in the form of boxes, plastic containers, peat tablets, disposable cups or tray cassettes.
  2. Suitable soil mix.
  3. Seeds that may need to be processed before sowing.

Soil preparation

For a tomato, you should choose a soil consisting of soddy soil, humus (1: 1) and a small amount of peat or sawdust. Today, many specialized stores sell soil mixes for planting tomatoes, so you don’t have to prepare the substrate yourself. But if possible, then the soil can be prepared independently from the above components or from garden soil, sand and black soil (1: 1: 1), to which a little vermiculite is added. Ready soil for tomatoes should have a pH of 5.5 to 6.0.

Any soil mixture can contain fungal spores and pest larvae, so it should be decontaminated before use. To do this, everyone uses their own way. Here are some of them:

  • shed a bright pink solution of potassium permanganate;
  • place in the microwave and heat at full power for two minutes;
  • pour on a baking sheet and heat at a temperature of 200 degrees for 15 minutes in the oven;
  • put the soil in a well-packed bag into a container with hot water(+60 ... +70 degrees), cover with a lid and leave until the water has completely cooled.

The treated soil should be moistened and kept in a warm room for two weeks. During this time, bacteria useful for the growth and development of plants will multiply in it.

seed processing

Today, stores in most cases sell already processed planting material. Market-bought or self-collected seeds should be treated in one of the following ways before sowing:

  1. For 20 minutes, place in a 15 solution of potassium permanganate, previously wrapped in gauze.
  2. Hold for one or two hours in Fitosporin solution (1 drop of the drug per 100 ml of water).
  3. Soak overnight in soda solution(1 gram of soda per 200 ml of water).
  4. For a day or two, soak in a solution of aloe juice with water squeezed out of leaves or purchased at a pharmacy. Aloe juice and water are taken in equal amounts and mixed. If juice is to be used, which is squeezed from home flower, then it should be kept in the refrigerator for 5 days beforehand. Plants obtained from seeds treated in this way will differ high quality fruits, good yield and resistance to various diseases.

Planting a tomato for seedlings - photo

If boxes or containers were chosen for sowing seeds, then they are filled with moist soil, in which small holes are made with a pencil or stick at a distance of about 3-4 cm from each other. A seed is placed in each hole, which are then sprinkled with soil and moistened warm water from a spray bottle.

Seedling containers are covered from above cling film, a transparent plastic bag or glass and placed in a warm place with an air temperature of +25 to +30 degrees.

So that the soil does not start to mold, it must be ventilated every day, lifting the film for this. As the soil dries, it is moistened with a spray bottle.

seedling care

The term of emergence of seedlings depends on the variety of tomatoes, the quality of the seeds and the conditions for keeping the crops. The first seedlings may appear in 3-4 days. So that they do not stretch out, seedling containers are placed in a bright place. The film can be removed after all shoots appear. The air temperature for young plants during the day should be within +20 degrees, and at night from +16 to +18 degrees. It is necessary to ensure that the seedlings do not stand in a draft.

Caring for tomato seedlings consists in performing the following procedures:

After picking, seedling care remains the same as before. Bushes must be watered in a timely manner and provide them with good lighting without direct sun rays. Since the transplant will be carried out in a new soil, there is no point in fertilizing.

When to plant tomato seedlings?

When the threat of frost has passed and the warm weather, tomato seedlings can be planted in open ground.

AT Krasnodar Territory and other warm areas are planted in early May. In Siberia, the Urals and the North, tomato seedlings are planted in open ground no earlier than the end of May - the beginning of June. Under the film, greenhouse varieties should be planted two weeks earlier.

10-14 days before planting, the plants are hardened, for which they are warm days take out to the site or an open balcony.

Planting tomatoes is recommended after beets, carrots, green onions, cabbage, turnips, squash, zucchini, cucumbers, pumpkins, cabbage, green manure. You can not plant tomatoes in the beds where tomatoes, peas, physalis, eggplant, peppers, potatoes grew last year.

Proper planting, care and crop rotation will guarantee a good harvest of delicious and healthy tomato, which can be eaten fresh and pickled for the winter. And you can find out when and how to plant and grow and if you follow the highlighted links.

Tomatoes are the vegetable without which the kitchen of any housewife cannot do. While you can always buy a tomato in the market or in a store, a fragrant vegetable grown in your own garden will always be better! I think that it makes no sense to list all those dishes that include tomatoes - they can always be used in the kitchen 🙂

And, I hope you have already sown, and in this article we will plunge into growing tomato seedlings from seeds at home so that we can eat tomatoes from our garden all summer and autumn.

enough tomatoes capricious plant requiring attention and care at any age. However, you should not be afraid to grow tomatoes, especially when you have detailed instructions at hand. To grow strong and strong fruit-bearing plants, you need to create certain conditions:

  • a large amount of lighting - if natural is not enough, you need to use backlight lamps;
  • enough high humidity- how to support it, read in detailed instructions care below;
  • warm - during the day optimum temperature for seedlings, tomato is + 18-25 ° C, at night + 12-15 ° C.

When to plant tomatoes from seeds for seedlings according to the lunar calendar 2018

It is important to correctly determine the timing so as not to overexpose the seedlings on the windowsill, as this may lead to a decrease in yield.

Seeds will need 5-10 days to germinate after sowing, plus 45-60 days for further care for seedlings. Total average term before planting seedlings in open ground, it will take about 55-65 days.

Table lunar calendar 2018 the following dates are indicated favorable for tomatoes:

  • February - 18-20, 25-28 for planting seeds
  • March - 1, 17-20, 24-28

For individual regions, it is necessary to take into account their own characteristics to determine the timing of sowing seeds of tomatoes for seedlings, since the temperature regime in the regions is different:

  • in southern regions Russia and Ukraine - seeds for seedlings can be planted from February 20 to March 15, planting on open area– from April 15 to May 20;
  • in central regions Russia and the Moscow region - from March 15 to April 1 we sow seeds, from May 10 to the first days of June we plant them in open ground;
  • in the northern regions, such as Siberia and the Urals, respectively, from April 1 to April 15 we deal with seeds, from May 25 to May 15 we plant seedlings in the garden.

Important! You need to know when frosts usually end in your area. From this date, count 55-65 days back and get an answer to the question of when to plant tomato seeds for seedlings.

Step-by-step instructions for growing tomato seedlings at home

Well, after the issue has been resolved with the date of planting seeds for seedlings, you can proceed to the process itself. I will try to describe and show in specific steps how to properly grow healthy and fruitful tomato seedlings.

1. Preparing seeds for planting seedlings

First, let's define the variety. To do this, you need to understand for what purpose you need tomatoes - for salads, for pickles, juice, or for other needs. It is on this that the choice of variety will largely depend.

We also take into account the timing of ripening, productivity, endurance. You can see all this data on the package with seeds and choose the best variety for you.

When buying, pay attention to the integrity of the packaging and the expiration date. Take as new as possible, it is best to sprout fresh seeds from a year to three (it is better not to save on this).

Before planting seeds, be sure to check them for germination. Rejection can be done with salted water in the ratio of 10 g of salt per 200 g of water, kept in solution for 5-10 minutes and remove those that float, and those that drown, we take for seedlings.

After culling, disinfect the seeds. Even the highest quality seeds can be infected with pathogens, so it's better to play it safe, besides, it's easy to do - choose one of the suggested solutions:

  • 1% solution of potassium permanganate (1 g per 100 ml of water), dip the seeds into it for 10 minutes. How to prepare the solution, see the video:

  • 0.5% soda solution (0.5 g per 100 ml of water), soak the seeds in it for 24 hours.
  • Fitosporin solution. It is sold in liquid and powder form, do the procedure according to the instructions, you can hold the seeds in it for up to 2 hours

Then the seeds need to be germinated, wrapped in gauze or a cotton cloth moistened with water. room temperature. Then put in a jar or other container and cover with foil.

Periodically, up to 4 times a day, ventilate and wait for sprouts. Germination will take 4-5 days.

2. We prepare the soil and containers for planting seeds

The soil also needs to be disinfected, both homemade and purchased in stores. I repeat - tomatoes are very picky in caring for seedlings, so you need to play it safe.

I will list the most effective ways soil disinfection for seedlings:

  • roasting in the oven or on a brazier - place the soil in an oven preheated to 180-200 ° C for 10-15 minutes;
  • disinfection with boiling water in a container with holes - place it in a container and treat it several times with boiling water;
  • treatment strong mortar potassium permanganate.

Disinfection of the soil should be carried out in advance in order to have time to keep it moist at a positive temperature for 10 days, so that the soil can “come to life” after disinfection.

3. Sowing tomato seeds for seedlings

Pour the prepared soil into the treated container, level it and moisten it with settled water at room temperature. We make grooves about 1 cm deep, keep a distance of 3-4 cm between rows. If planting in cups, make a recess of 1 cm.

Gently place the germinated seeds into the grooves with tweezers, keeping a distance of 2 cm between the tomato seeds. It is enough to put one seed in individual containers.

Gently cover the pits or furrows with soil, cover the containers with foil or a piece of glass.

Place in a warm place and wait for seedlings. The first sprouts will appear in about 3-5 days.

Important! The air temperature for growing tomato seedlings should be at least +25 degrees.

4. Consistent care of tomato seedlings

When caring for tomato seedlings, it is necessary to maintain humidity, temperature, fresh air, and sufficient lighting at the proper level.

Illumination of tomato seedlings

For the full cultivation of seedlings of tomatoes, you need to maintain a lighting regime for 16 hours a day. In February-March, daylight hours are shorter, so you need to organize additional illumination, and it is better to put seedlings on the southern windowsill, as it is the lightest.

Humidity and watering seedlings

At first, tomato seedlings need very high humidity, so do not rush to immediately remove the film or glass. Ventilate a little every day so that the seedlings get used to fresh air, and after 1.5-2 weeks it will be possible to fully open.

You need to water gently under the root, preferably with a pipette or a thin watering can. At first, watering will not be needed, since the seedlings will be covered with a film, you just need to make sure that the soil does not dry out, checking it with a toothpick when airing it.

When you remove the film completely, it is important to monitor the soil moisture, as the sprouts will get stronger and will drink more moisture. Check and water better in the morning so that all the moisture does not go away during the day. If you see that the sprouts are a little sluggish, water immediately.

Airing home seedlings

Even if a windless sunny day falls in March, on a balcony or under a canopy with south side At home, the temperature can reach up to 15-20°C! If such a day coincided with the emergence of seedlings, you need to take out the seedlings to bask in the sun, since on the first day after germination, the sprouts have innate protection against ultraviolet rays sun and this will give them additional heat resistance for the entire period of life.

If you did not have time to take the seedlings out into the sun on the first day, then it is no longer possible to do this after 1-2 days - the innate hardening has disappeared. In this case, you will have to gradually accustom the sprouts to the sun. The first day - 5 minutes is enough. Then every day you can increase the duration of walks by another 5 minutes.

Feeding tomato sprouts

The first top dressing will need to be done 2-3 weeks after the first shoots appear, the guideline will be the appearance of three full-fledged leaves. At this point, the sprouts are no longer enough nutrients. For top dressing, it is best to use natural organic fertilizers manure or grass. You can also purchase special fertilizers for seedlings. We dilute top dressing with water and feed under the root with watering.

5. Picking seedlings

After the appearance of the first true leaves on the seedlings of tomatoes, provided that the seeds were sown too thickly, it is necessary to carry out a pick - transplanting the seedlings into individual containers: cups, pots for seedlings. Despite the fact that tomatoes tolerate transplanting quite well, this procedure must be done carefully.

You can learn how to dive seedlings correctly by watching the video:

6. Preparation for planting seedlings in a permanent place

The appearance of the first brushes of flowers will be a signal that after 10-15 days the seedlings should be planted in open ground (or in a greenhouse). It is better not to delay the transplant in order to get the maximum yield from your seedlings.

If suddenly, for some force majeure reason, you need to keep the seedlings on the windowsill for longer than 45-60 days, you need to provide about a liter of land for 1 plant, or if you can’t transplant into a large container, you can cut off the first flower brush, this will win you about week of time.

It is important that tomatoes in small containers do not have time to bloom, as this will slow down their development and the expected harvest will not work, but you do not need it!

Good tomato seedlings before planting should have thick stems, large leaves, powerful root system and developed buds.

7. Planting tomato seedlings in open ground

Planting tomato seedlings in open ground is best done in calm cloudy weather, so the seedlings take root more easily on permanent place. To keep the earth around the root stronger during transplantation, a couple of days before planting, you need to stop watering. Make a hole in the ground right size, place your tomato seedling in it, water and sprinkle with soil.

I tried to explain everything in an accessible way, there will be questions - write in the comments, I will try to answer.

Have a great harvest!

Many growers ask this question regularly. Who sows in February, who in April, some manage to "torture" especially valuable varieties for almost years - they leave a stepson in the fall, and all winter they "pickle" him in a pot, constantly cutting off the top that stretches out in low light conditions and transplanting it into pot...

But actually I digress from the main idea - the timing of landing.
When to sow tomatoes, in conditions conditionally close to the Moscow region?

January. In principle, I don’t even want to consider such an option, but briefly ...

January 15, sunrise 08:41, sunset 16:28, while at 12 noon the height of the sun above the horizon is only 12.63º. If you are not going to highlight the seedlings with metal halide or at least just Very Powerful, and if you are not planting tomatoes in a Well-Heated greenhouse, then even the latest varieties of tomatoes, the seedlings of which can be conditionally allowed to be kept on the window for 60 days, will turn into stunted blades of grass, creeping along the ground under their own weight.

February. A lot of Wise Tomato growers sow tomatoes in February. Apparently, in the old fashioned way, it is believed that what more plant will hold on the window - the faster the first tomato in the salad will turn out ... This is not so, but why this is not the case will be considered in subsequent entries.

February, 15. Sunrise 07:48, sunset 17:31, height above the horizon at 12 noon - 20.85 º. Not much better than January, don't you think?

Tomatoes that have risen in mid-February will have time to stretch out and fall ill in almost the same way as the poor fellows planted in January. However, in the presence of the aforementioned powerful lighting (and this is not at all the first fluorescent light bulb that came across on full window sill seedlings - such lighting is useless ...) yes .. and so, in the presence of competent lighting and a heated greenhouse, planting tomatoes in February makes sense to get early fruits. But only if there is lighting and a heated greenhouse.

Update as of February 24, 2017.

6-7 years have passed since the writing of this short note. AT THE TIME about highlighting seedlings LED lamps I didn't even have to dream. Now the realities have changed somewhat, and in principle the problem of lighting, even for an ordinary user, one way or another, is completely solvable. However, this is not the only factor that still holds me back from early landings) especially with very good lighting - the seedlings grow faster, and in 45 days huge bushes grow out, which clearly become crowded on the window! .. I bring to your attention a short "".

March. Rooks have arrived, drops, thawed patches and other attributes of an average spring. Cheerful poimdorovod joyfully rubbing his hands takes out bags of seeds from the stash, folk wisdom says.

March 15th. Sunrise 06:41, sunset 18:28, height of the sun above the horizon at 12 noon - 31.45 º. Something already! However, the wise tomato grower does not relax, but also takes out a fluorescent lamp. Because in the morning and evening hours, as well as on cloudy days, highlighting seedlings in the first half of March is almost necessary.

Tomatoes that have risen in mid-March will undoubtedly be stronger and, most importantly, more prolific than their older brothers that have risen in February. Why more prolific? Because the beginnings of the future harvest are laid in the first weeks of the plant's life. If a rising tomato receives a lot of sunlight, the plant "thinks" that it has fallen into favorable conditions and programs a high yield.
And if the ascended tomatoes do not receive enough light, then according to the program laid down in them, they will try their best to stretch out, outgrow the competitors surrounding them for sunlight! They, unfortunately, do not understand that it is dark for them not from the fact that they are shaded by other plants in the neighborhood, but from the fact that they are simply on the window in cloudy weather.

April. Sow seeds in middle April is perhaps somewhat presumptuous... with the exception of perhaps the most precocious superdeterminant ones. However, tomatoes sown at the very end of March - early April will be the healthiest and strongest, and in unheated greenhouses or open ground will certainly overtake their counterparts planted in February or early March.

April 15, sunrise 05:22, sunset 19:29, height of the sun above the horizon at 12 noon 40.65 º. This month, if tomatoes need additional illumination, then only on the most cloudy days.

Usually varieties and hybrids of tomato are recommended to be grown in seedlings for no more than 60 days (late indeterminate varieties, such as San Marzano, de Barao, bull's heart. It should be noted that the volume of soil for each plant with such a growing period should be at least 1 liter Optimal - 3-5 liters.It is usually not easy to place such pots on our windowsills, so it is much more reasonable not to torment the plants, but leave them to vegetate on the windowsill for no more than 50-55 days.

Hello! Today on our garden plot- tomatoes. No gardener can do without this vegetable crop.

You can donate anything, but not tomatoes and, of course, cucumbers. For them, we break greenhouses.

In the heat often water the tomatoes. Protect from any infection. But then it’s nice to harvest a good harvest and eat ripe fresh tomatoes. Well, if they are also, then it's generally great!

Tomatoes belong to the nightshade family and are native to South America. Tomato appeared in Europe in the 16th century, and in Russia in the 18th century. Oddly enough, but initially, tomatoes were bred only as ornamental plants, and were considered poisonous and unsuitable for food. And only thanks to the work of our Russian botanist Andrei Timofeevich Bolotov, who developed a method for the complete ripening of tomato fruits, they began to be used for culinary purposes.

Tomatoes are not only tasty, but also healthy. They contain dietary fiber, which normalizes bowel function. is an effective means from constipation.

If you eat tomatoes regularly, it will increase your tone, help get rid of fatigue and loss of energy.

There are many varieties of tomatoes that differ in shape and color, as well as in size. But all of them are divided into three groups according to the ripening time: early, middle and late.

Early, middle and late varieties of tomatoes

The most common early varieties of tomatoes that are often found in gardeners are the following:

Agatha

Low-growing variety, grows up to 45 cm. Up to 4 kg of tomatoes can be harvested from one bush. Ripe on the 110th day. The fruits are flat-round, weighing up to 100 g. It is grown both in a greenhouse and in open ground.

Summer resident

Medium-branched bush up to 60 cm high. Fruits on the 95-105th day after planting. Cold hardy, disease resistant. Fruits weighing up to 100 g.

Pink flamingo

Tall variety, up to 100 cm high. Fruits are sweet, tasty. Ripe on the 90th day after planting. The tomatoes are quite large. At first, they weigh about 300 g, with subsequent collections - 150-200 g. Usually, a lot of fruits appear on each brush, so that they ripen quickly, it is better to reduce their number to 4-5.

The height of the bush is about 60 cm, consists of three stems. The fruits are round and smooth. From one bush good care you can get up to 1 kg of crop. Fruit weight 60-110 g.

Of the common mid-season varieties, I would like to note the following:

Budenovka

The bush grows up to 70 cm. To get large fruits it is necessary to carry out stepsoning. Ripens on the 110-115th day after germination.

Lady fingers (like grapes)

The bush reaches a height of 60 cm, but this is subject to its cultivation in open ground. In greenhouses, it grows up to 120 cm. The shape of the fruit is cylindrical. From one bush you can collect up to 3 kg. tomato.

Golden domes

Grow up to 1.5 m. Well suited for outdoor cultivation. Fruit weight is 300-400 g. This variety has a high yield.

Gardener

It grows to a height of 140-160 cm. It matures on the 118-120th day after planting. The fruits are large, weighing 400 g. The variety is high-yielding - up to 9 kg can be harvested from a bush. tomato. The variety is resistant to diseases, well suited for growing in film greenhouses.

Among the late varieties of tomato, I would like to highlight:

Giraffe

The bush is high up to 1.8 m. The fruits are medium, weighing up to 90-130 g. Up to 5 kg can be collected from one bush. They differ in that they can be harvested green and left to ripen at home for 3-4 months. To increase the ripening period, the fruits are placed in a cold place.

New Year

It is, shall we say, very late variety. Height up to 150 cm. Ripening begins in September. The fruits are round, bright yellow, weigh up to 250 g. Up to 6 kg of tomatoes can be removed from one bush. By the end of September, it is necessary to collect not only ripe, but also unripe fruits. For ripening, they are cleaned in a cold place.

When and how to sow tomatoes for seedlings

Prepare tomatoes for spring landing possible in February. However, the final dates depend on the variety and climate.

As for planting seeds for seedlings, varieties of different dates are planted as follows:

- Tall tomatoes are planted with 20 February to 10 Martha.

- Early and mid-season varieties - with 10 on 22 Martha.

— Cherry tomatoes and ultra-early varieties — 8,9,14 April.

- Late-ripening large tomatoes are planted in the third decade of February.

Many gardeners calculate the timing of planting seeds on their own. In principle, there is nothing complicated here. It all depends on the growing season of the variety.

For example, early and hybrid varieties vegetate within 100 days. Let's add here another time for the shoot of the sprout itself - about ten days and we get a growing season of 110 days.

Now we choose the approximate date of the proposed harvest. For early varieties it's July 20th. We count 110 days from this date and we get that the seeds must be sown no later than April 1.

If guided, then sowing seeds is best done with a growing moon.

In addition, it is necessary to take into account in the choice of seeds for seedlings, where you will then plant it.

If only in open ground, then you will need low-growing or determinant varieties. Accordingly, vigorous or indeterminate plants are suitable for greenhouses.

Soil is best taken from your garden. In extreme cases, you can take it in the store. But if you are already planning in the fall that you will prepare seedlings in the winter, then you should take care of the soil in advance.

The preparation and planting of seeds consists of several stages, which can be visualized as follows:

In the beginning, we disassemble the seeds purchased in the store into suitable ones for planting. This is easy to do by putting them in water. If the seeds have surfaced, you can safely throw them away, they are empty.

The rest are soaked for germination, wrapped in a wet cloth or gauze. So they should lie down for a day.

Now we take a container - a special box for seedlings and fill it with pre-prepared soil. We moisten the earth.

Now we take the seeds and put them in the ground at a distance of 5 cm from each other. There is a good option plant seeds in eggshell. In this case, you can plant seedlings in the ground right in this very shell.

Planted seeds are well watered and covered plastic bag. After that, put the box in a dark place.

After the appearance of the first sprouts, we open the box and transfer it to the light. Usually this is a window sill.

seedling care

Tomatoes are very demanding on light, so they need to be additionally highlighted if necessary. It is especially recommended to do this around the clock in the initial period of seed germination. Optimally, tomatoes should be illuminated for 12-15 hours.

Concerning temperature regime, then at an early stage, tomatoes need + 23- + 25 0С. After two weeks, the temperature can be reduced to + 18- + 20 0С.

At night, the temperature should be within 17 degrees. This can be done by opening and closing the window - the main thing is to avoid drafts.

Tomato seedlings need to be watered regularly. In the early stages of growth, water once a week. Subsequently, namely in three weeks, it is necessary to water every three to four days. Well, when the leaves appear, then once every two days. It is necessary to water in such a way that the water does not remain and does not stagnate.

Now a little about feeding. We do the first dressing when the first leaf is formed. For this you can use this complex fertilizer like Agricola.

With the advent of the third leaflet, we do secondary feeding. For this, preparations containing nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium are used. For example, "Effecton".

The following top dressings are already carried out with an interval of 2 weeks. Here we take nitrogen-containing substances, for example, nitroammophoska. We prepare it like this: dissolve a tablespoon of the drug in a bucket of water.

Two weeks before planting in the ground, seedlings must begin to harden. To do this, we take out the boxes with seedlings on the street, or open the windows. The first day - a few minutes, then gradually bring the content in the open air throughout daylight hours.

When and how to plant seedlings

Based on the calculated timing of planting seeds and harvesting (see above), we begin to prepare seedlings for planting in the ground. However, one must also be guided by the fact that its height would be at least 30 cm and 6-7 leaves appeared.

Arriving at the dacha and taking out the seedlings on land plot, where we will plant it, first of all we prepare the holes. They should be the same size as the containers in which the bushes are located.

We water the hole. We take out a bush with a clod of earth. If you have tall bushes, then we place them in a hole deep at an acute angle.

Low-growing varieties are planted horizontally. Holes are dug and watered. Tall varieties must be tied up immediately.

That's probably all. And in conclusion - a short video on caring for tomatoes.
