Action terry white. Graceful action - a shrub for decorating the site. Types and watering action

Landing action in open field and caring for this shrub is not particularly difficult. In addition, the plant is little damaged by pests, for which it is valued by gardeners.

Deutzea (Deutzea) from the Hortensia family naturally grows in the mountainous regions of the temperate and subtropical zones of the Northern Hemisphere. Using the inherent ease of action to hybridization and the formation of new forms, Victor Lemoine, a French breeder, at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th centuries, created many hybrid forms. Deutsii were brought to Europe from Japan and China in the 19th century by Dutch merchants and Catholic missionaries. The life span of the plant is up to 25 years.

Options for using action in garden design

In garden design, action is not only decorative, but also practical - it can hide the site from prying eyes, protect it from the wind, hide ugly buildings. The shrub grows quickly and does not require particularly careful care.

  • Deytion is a silhouette shrub. It can be used as solitary plant or in a group with other shrubs. The low-growing forms of action are used as a pot culture, for planting in containers, along fences and paths.
  • The traditional use of shrubs is in borders, especially in multi-tiered and mixed.
  • Action hedges that do not require molding divide the garden into zones. Before planting a hedge, you need to calculate the distance between the bushes - add the estimated height of two neighboring plants, divide the result by three. The distances between the bushes can be temporarily filled with annuals or biennials, ground cover plants, currant. Remove filler plants as the action grows.
  • Deytion is used as a drapery plant to hide unsightly objects on the site.

Action: cultivation features (video)

Deytion shrub: botanical description of the plant

Perennial shrub with a height of 0.5 to 4-5 m. Flowering begins at an average daily temperature of 15-19º C, Inflorescences few or many flower-complex corymbose up to 4-7 cm in diameter. Oblong racemose up to 7 cm in diameter. Wide pyramidal up to 8 cm in diameter. Flowers 1-2 cm in diameter, white, pink, lilac.

The action develops better and blooms earlier if the spring was warm and humid. General term flowering of numerous varieties of action is 90 days, which allows you to create a garden on the site continuous flowering. Grow in humus-rich fertile soils. Require full solar lighting and penumbra.

The main types of action

Action is able to develop such a mass of flowers that completely hide the foliage under it.

Deutsia pink

Graceful, medium-sized shrub with foam of pale pink flowers. The hybrid was created using two types - deutsia purple and deutsia graceful. Medium-sized shrub up to 1 m high.

Tall shrub up to 2 m in height. Terry flowers up to 3 cm in diameter are collected in large inflorescences up to 12 cm long. Flowering time is June-July.

Action graceful

A bush up to 1 m high spreads up to 1.5 m wide. early time flowering - May-June. Leaves are oval, olive color. The flowers are snow-white, star-shaped, collected in racemose inflorescences. AT favorable conditions gives annual increments up to 25 cm high, up to 30 cm wide.

Action terry

The terry variety D. rough captivity (D. scabra Plena) is widespread. Flowers are white inside and purple-pink outside.

Action hybrid

Garden hybrids not only combine the best qualities of parental forms, but also excel in abundance and duration of flowering. Variety D. Contraste has purplish-lilac flowers.

Popular varieties of action

Action blooms before all the shrubs on the site.

Spreading shrub up to 2 m high, grows up to 1.5 m wide. It blooms in spring with bright pink or lilac flowers with slightly twisted petals, forming apical racemes. The leaves are oval, large, dark green in summer, golden in autumn.

Hybrid. Collected in paniculate inflorescences large flowers up to 3 cm in diameter, painted in lilac-pink tones. The bush stretches up to 1.5 m.

Giving growths of 30-40 cm per year, it grows up to 2 m. Solid, raised branches form a spreading, like an umbrella, crown. Blooms in summer, in June, white, with pink tint, double flowers.

The most stable species for the Moscow region. Srednerosly bush up to 1.5 m high. Blooms in May with flowers of deep color pink with white cores.

Winter hardiness of shrubs and rules for preparing for wintering

Action is a relatively non-hardy culture. North winds, lack of snow cover, fluctuations low temperatures can lead to damage to the root system, dehydration and drying of the aerial part of the shrub. Plants that are native to the northern points of the range and the highlands of northern China tolerate winters well.

To protect against freezing, dry leaves are raked under a bush with a layer of 20 cm. In autumn, while not all the leaves have fallen off, the action is tied with covering material, pinning the lower edge to the ground to avoid drafts. The roots are covered with earth, and then with fallen snow, covered with straw. Flexible branches of young plants no more than 1 m high are bent to the ground and covered with earth or snow.

They begin to cover with spruce branches for the winter in November, when average temperature air becomes steadily negative. Previously, in October, the crowns are tied in a spiral, bent to the ground, tied to pegs. The best covering material is spruce spruce branches. It holds snow well, provides good air exchange, prevents decay and decay, and protects the plant from small rodents.

Action: basic rules for planting and care in the open field

Action is not demanding on the soil - it grows wherever water does not stagnate. Seed germination lasts from 1 to 3 years. The plant propagates by sowing seeds, dividing the bush, layering and cuttings.

How to propagate by cuttings

  • In June or September, cuttings 7-15 cm long, 5 mm in diameter are taken from semi-lignified annual shoots. At the same time, there must be at least three buds on the handle;
  • the lower cut is made 2-3 mm from the kidney at an angle of 90º;
  • truncated leaves are left in the upper part, from the lower half leaf blades delete;
  • cuttings are treated with a root stimulator;
  • the cuttings are placed in the sand at an angle of 30º;
  • sprayed several times a day from a spray bottle;
  • the duration of root formation is about 23 days;
  • rooted cuttings are planted in a container.

How to propagate by layering

  • choose a flexible young shoot, make an oblique cut 4 cm and insert a match into it;
  • place the shoot in a hole 15 cm deep and fill it with a soil-peat mixture;
  • pin a layer to the ground with a twig, tying the end to a peg;
  • leave until rooting connected with the parent plant for about 6-12 months;
  • after rooting, cut off from the parent plant and transplant to a new place at the same depth.

Planting actions in the ground

  • Prepare a hole 50 ⅹ 50 cm deep;
  • pour drainage at the bottom - sand with a layer of 10 cm;
  • evenly distribute the roots in the pit and cover them with a planting mixture consisting of humus, compost or peat and sand in equal proportions;
  • to neutralize acidic soil, 200 g of hydrated lime or wood ash are added to the pit.

Cuttings can be planted in open ground in October. At the same time, the formation of callus cuttings and the first roots occurs in May. next year. The younger mother plant the better the cuttings take root.

After early spring pruning, make mineral fertilizers. Top dressing with diluted manure (1 kg per 10 liters) will improve flowering. I mulch with peat in a layer of 5 cm.

Pruning is carried out after flowering or during dormancy. All branches are cut into two eyes. It is necessary to cut out old unproductive branches and weak liquid shoots. If you are late with pruning, the plant may get sick or miss flowering this year. Pruning under the stump is done for the purpose of rejuvenation. Do it in the spring before the start of sap flow, or late in the fall.

If an old action grows on the site, it should be remembered that it may not withstand radical pruning. In this case, pruning is carried out in several steps:

  • in the first year, a third of the oldest branches are evenly cut, leaving 15 cm stumps and observing whether the young shoots will grow next year;
  • in a year in early spring, before sap flow, another third of the bush is removed, making oblique cuts just above the buds;
  • in the third year, the remaining branches are cut.

Features of growing plants in the suburbs

In the temperate continental climate of the Moscow region, the action develops well and blooms profusely. The shrub is fed in spring or in the first half of summer. Top dressing at a later time is undesirable, as it can lead to late vegetation, which will stop the hardening of the plant, which is necessary for wintering.

The plant requires watering during a drought - 15 liters for each bush 2-3 times a month, but does not tolerate waterlogging. early frosts can damage the ends of non-lignified shoots with flower buds, which can delay flowering by one year. Thickened bushes must be thinned out and pruned correctly. To help survive the winter action will allow hilling and shelter.

The action is different rapid growth. Under favorable conditions, it blooms in the third year after sowing.

Action: care and reproduction (video)

Due to the ability to grow quickly and recover from frost, deytion are widely used in decorative floriculture. In modern green building, such a decorative flowering shrub, as action is a significant component, the use of which enhances the effect of a garden or park composition. In addition, the action grows well in urban conditions - it is resistant to dust, smoke and gases.

Not so long ago in Russian gardens"settled" an exotic flowering shrub called (Deutzia), originally from East Asia. The East is a delicate matter, and in gardening it is also very pleasant when you watch how, thanks to your efforts, a flowering splendor is born from a small nondescript seedling. Openwork flowers of action, collected in tassels of inflorescences, abundantly strew the bush during flowering, giving summer cottage light Asian flavor. I just want to dress up in an embroidered kimono and lie down on it, languidly fanning myself with a fan and inhaling the aroma blooming garden.

If the action bush is not trimmed and provided with natural growth, it becomes unusually lush, sprawling. Therefore, the "child of the East" of the Hortensiev family looks great both as single bushes and in company with other flowering plants.

To create original compositions landscape designers use tamping of tree groups with miniature varieties of action. It looks especially exotic against the background of decorative ones. And if you plant a white action in a company with lemon-yellow flowers and hot pink, then you get a picturesque composition that can give a unique aura to any summer cottage.

In a mild climate, they create from tall action. She is not susceptible to smoke, so she is often planted in front of country houses located along the roadway.

Landing and care action

Asian beauty is quite capricious. She does not like cold winds, does not tolerate waterlogging and is not very frost-resistant. Frost at -25 ° C can destroy action, so it is best to plant it on gentle southwestern slopes, where there is a powerful snow cover in winter.

At landing action one of the main conditions for its successful growth is right choice places.

  • Drop her off in a well-lit area, protected from the wind, place the bushes at a distance of 1.5–2 m from each other, depending on the plant variety.
  • Remember: action requires drained, loose and fertile soil. The ideal soil mixture for her: compost earth, humus and sand in a ratio of 2:2:1.
  • The depth of the landing hole must be at least half a meter. A layer of drainage is poured at the bottom (you can sand). After that, 200-300 g of slaked lime and a little are added to the hole.
If you did everything right, then a beautiful Asian will please you abundant flowering.

You can choose varieties of action with the help of our market, where goods from different online stores are presented. .

After pruning, the action is prepared for wintering: the foot of the bush is well covered with a thick layer of fallen leaves and / or coniferous spruce branches, and when the snow falls tightly, you can bend the flexible branches of the bush to the ground to protect against freezing and spud them with snow.

Types and watering action

And now I present to you the most popular types of action, which have many decorative forms and varieties:

Deutzia graceful (Deutzia gracilis)

Graceful action is distinguished by its small size: from 0.5 to 1.2 m in height, neat bush shape and early, abundant flowering. Unlike other types of shrubs, the graceful deutsia blooms already in the second year after planting. Its snow-white flowers are collected in graceful brushes, each of which has from 40 to 50 flowers. A sort of small bouquets against the background of oblong-lanceolate lettuce leaves.

Deytion graceful is successfully used for decorating borders and padding the front of a group planting of tall plants.

Action purple, or purple (Deutzia purpurascens)

Action purple up to 2 meters high has thin, flexible shoots, slightly pubescent. Flowers of all shades magenta, up to 2 cm in diameter, are collected in semi-umbrella baskets of 10-15 pieces each.

The leaves are broadly lanceolate, pubescent on both sides and finely serrated, serve as an excellent backdrop for incredibly decorative inflorescences.

Deutzia pink (Deutzia x rosea)

Deutsia pink is the original hybrid of purple and graceful deutsia. It never grows more than 1.2 m. delicate flowers bell-shaped, having a bright pink color below, smoothly turning into a pale pink color from above. Inflorescences racemose, collected 20-25 pieces in each brush.

Deutsia pink is quite resistant to winter frosts, unlike other plant species.

Deutzia grandiflora (Deutzia grandiflora)

Deutsia grandiflora is a tall, early flowering perennial. Its height reaches 2 m. The flowers are large, about three centimeters in size, grow singly, but sometimes there are 2-3 flowers in the inflorescence. The leaves are dark green, slightly rough in the lower part, beautiful oval shape.

This type of action is not frost-resistant, therefore it is only suitable for landing in southern regions. In the landscape it is used to decorate hedges and as a separate decorative element.

In general, action has more than 50 varieties, I have given only the most common in our gardens.

Action hybrid Mont Rose (pink)

Deucia hybrid Mont Rose (erysipelas)

Deutzia hybrida Mont Rose (pink)

Habit: spreading shrub.

The form: very decorative, flowery deciduous shrub of the hydrangea family, with a spreading, vertically growing crown reaching about 1.5-2 m in height and 1-1.5 m in width. In youth, the crown is somewhat decaying, with age it becomes more compact, with slightly drooping side branches. Blooms early, profusely and for a long time with beautiful large bright pink flowers collected in apical racemose inflorescences. Action hybrid Mont Rose is good because it does not cause allergies and is one of the most stable representatives of its kind.

Growth rate: annual growth is 20-30 cm.

Leaves: oppositely arranged, broadly elliptical, 6-10 cm long, sharp-toothed margins, dark green. In autumn, the foliage turns golden yellow.

Bloom: plentiful, effective, long-lasting. The flowers are large, gently pink-lilac, collected in large inflorescences, the edges of the petals are slightly twisted.

Flowering time: Deitia Mont Rose blooms in May - June.

Root system: superficial, with large quantity thin roots, deep skeletal roots.

Attitude to light / insolation: Deutsia pink Mont Rose is photophilous, but tolerates light shading. In the shade, the quality of flowering deteriorates.

Type of soil/soil: Deutzia Mont Rose prefers well-drained, loose, fertile soils with a slightly acidic or neutral reaction. Deutzia Mont Rose does not like dry soil and stagnant water. If the soil is acidic, then it should be deoxidized with lime or wood ash. Responsive to feeding.

Landing / care: quite wind-resistant, but grows better in closed places. Care consists in periodic watering, fertilizing and loosening the soil. To maintain the symmetry and neat appearance of the bush, it is necessary to monitor the uniform distribution of shoots in the crown, remove incorrectly located and weak branches. After the end of flowering, faded shoots must also be removed, at this time new ones appear at the base of the crown. Strong growths are pruned at least 15-20 cm. If Deutsia weakly bushes, it needs to be cut off more and more often, this contributes to the thickening of the crown of the plant.

All plants purchased in the PROXIMA nursery are provided with long-acting fertilizers with the latest formulas from the best European manufacturers and can be sold in your garden center without additional dressing for a whole year. But greatest advantage buying plants in a pot is that they can be planted, without buying additional fertilizer, from March to December - even on the hottest days of summer.

Pests and diseases: Deytion Mont Rose is resistant to diseases and many pests. The leaves of the plant can be eaten by a bumblebee proboscis, but this insect is quite rare. In hot, dry weather, damage is possible spider mite. The main thing is to determine the pest (diagnosis) in order to choose the right plant protection product. Untreated plants may be affected by Anthracnose (leaf spot), powdery mildew and aphids. To protect the plant from diseases and fungal infections, it is necessary to treat the plants with fungicides (Skor, Switch, Maxim, Ordan, Horus, Quadris, Radomil Gold, etc.). Of course, it is better that the “diagnosis” is made by a specialist. But as a rule, a modern gardener, using the Internet, can independently identify the enemy and choose the right methods and means of plant protection .. It is better to carry out preventive treatments than to treat when the pest multiplies and “eats up” the plant. An example is the war of gardeners and Ukrainians with Colorado potato beetles who, like their human "cotton" namesakes - "Colorados", are very dangerous and gluttonous. Aktara 1g per 1 liter watering under the root of 30-100 grams per plant, depending on the size.

Application: Action can be used in any tree and shrub compositions, single and group plantings. They look picturesque in non-cut hedges. The shrub is decorative due to its early, abundant and long pale pink flowering.

Climate/hardiness zone: 5 frost-resistant for the entire territory of Ukraine with basic care (mulching, fertilizing, watering) and shelter for the winter of young plants up to 3 years.

Genus Deutsia contains 50 species distributed in the Himalayas, Mexico, East Asia.

These are deciduous shrubs of upright or sprawling form up to 4 m tall.

Flowering deciduous shrub with profuse pink or white flowers collected in racemose inflorescences. The action blooms on the shoots of last year. It grows on any soil and is almost unpretentious, if the shoots did not freeze every year (flower buds form on them). However, action has good quality when, after freezing, the shoots grow back and bloom in the same year. In culture, in our country the most common types are:

Action rough

It grows wild in China and Japan. The shrub got its name from rough leaves which are covered with stellate hairs.

Action rough - small graceful shrub. The bark of the shoots is gray or red-brown, then exfoliating. The foliage is dull green on both sides, yellow-brown in autumn. The flowers of the action rough are white or pink, collected in beautiful, narrow brushes.

Rough action is used for single and group plantings. The shrub has been introduced into cultivation since 1822. Are beautiful her garden molds especially with pink and white double flowers, under their weight, the shoots bend, giving the shrub a spectacular look. Not winter-hardy, can freeze slightly. Planting in protected areas is preferred.

Decorative forms: terry - with terry outside pink flowers; pure white - with double white flowers; Vaterera - with white flowers, with outside they are carmine; pink terry - with double pink flowers, frost-resistant form; white-dotted - with white small spots on the leaves.

Rough action has an interesting shape - "Marmorata" ("Marmorata"). During this action, the surface of the leaf is strewn with white-yellow spots. This action does not bloom. The young growth of the action "Marmorata" has ugly leaves. Leaves of ordinary shape appear only on overwintered shoots.

Deutia Candidissima("Candidissima"). In culture, it grows in Yalta, Gorno-Altaisk. Shrub, height at 25 years 1.5 m. Low winter hardiness. In landscaping, Deutia Candidissima is not found.

Action rough Plena ("Plena"). In height 3 m. It begins to bloom at the end of July.

Action rough Pride of Rochester ("Pride of Rochester"). Blooms in July, not for long. This action does not set fruit. Winter hardiness is low.

Action graceful

Grows wild in the mountains of Japan.

Shrub 1.6 m in height, with a roundish shape of a bush with arcuate branches and lush bloom. The foliage is oblong-lanceolate, with stellate hairs above, the leaves are bare below. White flowers of action graceful are collected in upright brushes. Flowering lasts 25 days.

The growth is graceful, fast, thermophilic, feels good in the city.

Looks good in group landing foreground, borders.

landing action: The distance between plantings is 2 m. It is best to place bushes in open or slightly shaded places. Depth of planting action 40 cm.

Action Care: fertilize with liquid manure from time to time.

For the winter, a small shelter with a dry leaf, hilling with earth is necessary.

Reproduction of action: shrub propagated by seeds, layering, cuttings.

Usage: undersized types of action are used as curbs; others - in the form of small groups near the tracks, for single landings. Thickened deytion bushes need to be thinned out. Abundant and beautiful bloom, the elegance of the flowers give the plantings an extraordinary beauty.

This is a low, about 1.5 m, deciduous shrub from the Hortensia family. Feature action, characteristic of many hydrangeas - exfoliation of the bark. If you look closely, then under the white lace of flowers you can see gray-brown shoots with thin plates of bark hanging down in “tatters”. This is a normal property of mature shoots, and not traces of a disease or pest.

In the garden, action looks good, for example, in a prominent place with evergreen and terry. They all bloom at the same time, and the action creates a neutral white transition between lilac and yellow flowers. AT landscape design often use a combination of action with decorative conifers, and from tall varieties form . Deytion is not afraid of exhaust gases, so it can be planted as a hedge in areas adjacent to the road.

Action: landing and care

landing action

The plant is very photophilous, for planting you need to choose the sunniest place, protected from cold winds. The soil should be loose, fertile, well-drained, with a neutral reaction. If, when planting the action, 300 g of slaked lime or a glass of ash are added to the pit. The best soil for action - earth, and sand in a ratio of 2: 1: 1.

Not suitable for the action of places with waterlogged soil and high level ground water.

Deytion is planted in the spring, it is best to buy seedlings immediately before planting. Depth landing pit- about 50 cm, for drainage, sand or broken kripich can be poured into the bottom of the pit with a layer of 10-15 cm. It is recommended to add 100-120 g of nitrophoska to the soil mixture to fill the pit. In no case should the root neck of the seedling be buried, it should be at ground level. The distance between the bushes is not less than 1.5 m. After planting, the action is watered abundantly, the soil is compacted and mulched with a layer 5-7 cm thick.

Action Care

Watering. Adult plants are drought-resistant and do not tolerate waterlogging, so they only need 1 bucket of water for each bush once a week or less. After watering, the soil is loosened to a depth of 20 cm. In hot, dry weather and during flowering, watering is increased, and in the first decade of August it is stopped to give the action an opportunity to prepare for winter. Young plants during active growth require more abundant watering.

Top dressing. Fertilize the action with compost with a glass of ash or fermented liquid (1 liter per 10 liters of water). Complex mineral fertilizers are applied twice per season (120-150 g for each bush). It is desirable to carry out top dressing during the flowering period and in the first half of summer, fertilizing in the fall has a bad effect on winter hardiness.

pruning. The action is pruned in spring and early summer. At the end of April, all branches growing inside the crown, broken or damaged, as well as the tips of the shoots that did not ripen last year and were frozen, are removed. After flowering, each faded branch is cut back to a strong young shoot. It is also shortened by a third or a quarter, and it begins to bush and lay future flower buds.

If the plant is more than five years old, every 3 years you need to remove 1-2 of the oldest shoots to ground level and thus rejuvenate the bush.

Preparing action for winter. Deytion winters not as problem-free as. harsh winter the shrub can freeze to the level of snow and then grow back, but there will be practically no flowering this year, because the action blooms on the shoots of the previous year.

Young plants for the winter can be bent to the ground, fixing the branches with two sticks crosswise or in small arcs, sketch the leaves from above and build a “hut” from the sticks. Cover the entire structure with lutrasil and polyethylene. This design of the shelter will not allow the snow settling in the spring to bend down and break the branches of the action.

An adult bush cannot be bent - its thick branches will break immediately, they are very fragile. Mature plants are prepared for winter before the leaves have completely fallen so that they can serve additional protection in the cold. The branches of the action are carefully pulled together with a rope and put on a bush with a bag or any density of 60. From above it is fixed with clothespins. Such a shelter protects not so much from frost as from drying up shoots: without a bag, flower buds are likely to dry out.

Reproduction of action

The plant reproduces well in early summer with green and lignified cuttings, but bushes obtained by layering grow fastest. Seed sowing is also possible. Preliminary preparation seeds are not needed, they are simply sown in the spring, pressing tightly to the ground without embedding in the soil. It usually takes about 3 weeks for seedlings to emerge.

Annual seedlings are easily damaged by frost, so they are covered for the winter. Flowering of seedlings begins in the third year.

Pests and diseases

The plant is very resistant to pests and diseases. Sometimes its leaves are damaged by a bumblebee proboscis, which can be removed by treating the bushes with phthalophos or karbofos (15% solution).

Types and varieties of action
