How to make a straight cut with a jigsaw. How to use a jigsaw: setting up, sawing, maintenance and safety. Homemade device for precise cutting of boards with a manual circular saw

The electric jigsaw is the most convenient and universal tool for complex work on wood. With it, you can produce artistic carving, prepare various parts for carpentry and solve other problems.

Operating procedure

To obtain best result work, you need to know how to cut with a jigsaw.

  • The material being processed must be securely fastened. Poor workpiece clamping is one of the main causes of sawing errors. The jigsaw can jump off, go off the markup, or even go in an arc. By the way, if the jigsaw cuts crookedly, check if the direction of the cut does not coincide with the direction of the fibers. If so, then it is better to make a drink circular saw.
  • When it becomes necessary to make a cut on the inside of the workpiece, you should pre-drill a hole at the start of work.
  • When working with the tool, do not make great efforts. An electric tool cuts wood quite well and without undue pressure. If you make a serious effort to advance the jigsaw, the saw and motor get very hot, and the risk of breakage increases. In addition, excess pressure main reason chips.
  • When sawing hardwoods, it is advisable to add a little machine oil to the blade.
  • Sometimes you have to work low revs. In this case, it is necessary to take frequent breaks in work, as the saw gets very hot.

Problems with accuracy

Consider how to cut with a jigsaw exactly:

  1. The object of processing must be securely fixed. Moreover, in such a way that it was convenient to make a cut.
  2. In case of particular uncertainty or for a greater guarantee of accuracy, it makes sense to use guides. For straight cuts, you can use wooden block, fixed along the markup. If the shape of the cut is complex, then the situation becomes more complicated. In this case, you can use patterns, if any, or you will have to reduce the speed of work due to more accurate jigsaw guidance.
  3. One of the reasons why a jigsaw cuts crooked is problems with the saw. Perhaps it is dull or has chipped teeth. Noticing that the jigsaw literally turns itself where it likes, inspect the saw.
  4. Breakage of a jigsaw. For example, if the motor runs jerkily, the likelihood of a crooked cut increases dramatically. Likewise, other failures of the mechanism can lead to a drop in accuracy. Such problems are difficult to fix on the spot, as diagnostics are required, and possibly repairs.
  5. Finally, the skill of the performer greatly affects the accuracy of the work. If you are a novice carpenter, do not get upset because of periodic failures: accuracy comes with experience.

chipped

Another serious question is how to cut with an electric jigsaw without chipping? These usually form:

  • with excessive pressure on the tool;
  • when working on thin material near edges without reinforcing stops;
  • when using unsuitable (worn out) saw blades.

Avoid these actions, and you will reduce the likelihood of chipping to a minimum. Also, some models allow the use of special anti-splinter inserts for a jigsaw.

Without any exaggeration, such a tool as a jigsaw is indispensable assistant in every house. With the help of such a tool, you can easily cut out a wide variety of shapes from the most variety of materials. It is the jigsaw that is one of the most handy tools for cutting circles, ovals and other complex shapes.

So how to cut with a jigsaw correctly and evenly? You must follow the instructions, and for this you will need:

  • protective glasses;
  • machine oil;
  • gloves;
  • jigsaw.

In order to cut smoothly with an electric jigsaw, you must proceed as follows:

  1. Before starting work, it is necessary to strengthen the material with maximum strength. It is strongly not recommended to cut along the fibers, since in this case it is very difficult to achieve evenness. In this regard, it is best to use a circular saw; in the absence of such a tool, you can use a parallel stop. Such a parallel stop should be attached to the jigsaw with one end, and the other end should rest against the edge of the workpiece. In this way, the most even cut is made.
  2. If it is necessary to make a cut inside the workpiece, then a hole is first made in the circle. Then, insert a jigsaw into the hole made and start moving in the direction of marking. After the desired hole has been cut, the corners of the workpiece are easily corrected on both sides.
  3. In order to cut with a jigsaw correctly, you should not use force when pressing the tool. Otherwise, the blade will heat up quickly, which may lead to breakage. Do not use one file long time because it gets dull pretty quickly. And such a file makes scuffs at the edges of the material, which significantly impairs the quality of work. If we are talking about cutting materials of increased hardness, then the blade must be lubricated with a small amount of machine oil. Thus, it will be easier to work with a file, in addition, the life of the file will be significantly extended.
  4. When working with a jigsaw at low speeds, the jigsaw needs a break, since in such a process the engine often overheats. In this case, it is necessary to strictly observe safety precautions, the presence of goggles and gloves is simply necessary. After the work is completed, the tool must be cleaned and lubricated.

Process features

An electric jigsaw comes with a pendulum and a regular stroke. When the stroke is normal, the blade must be moved vertically, while the material is cut when moving up. The speed of work is quite high, the blade wears out much less.

As for working with a pendulum jigsaw, the principle of operation is the same, but keep in mind that it is best to work with soft wood and plastic, but from cutting steel sheets it is better to refuse such tool.

If you need to cut a hole round shape, then an initial hole is drilled in the workpiece, then a file must be inserted there.

Then you should cut along the mark. If you want to make a hole in the form of a square or rectangle, then you need to cut in a straight line. Then the cut out area is removed and the remaining parts, which are in the shape of a triangle, are cut out.

If it is not possible to make an initial hole in the workpiece, it is advisable to make plunge sawing. Wherein electric jigsaw leans forward until the saw blade reaches the workpiece. Thus, the file makes a through-type hole in the workpiece. Using a jigsaw, you can cut bevels.

When working with a jigsaw, it is necessary that the table is stable, the material is securely fixed and the correct saw is selected.

Sawing with a jigsaw so that everything is smooth is not at all difficult. A guide is fixed on the tool, which is then wound up behind the edge of the workpiece.

If everything is done in this way, then the movements of the file are carried out smoothly and without special efforts. In the event that the edge is curved, it is necessary to cut out according to the markup, which must be done before.

If you need to cut a sheet of wood that has a small thickness, chips may appear. In order to prevent this phenomenon, the workpiece should be located front side down.

A jigsaw, along with a drill, a grinder and other tools, is one of the necessary attributes home master. The need to implement the inherent properties in the design causes a reasonable desire for the competent use of the tool. The main requirement is to perform accurate, even cuts of workpieces and parts. Why does it depend? What knowledge is needed?

Performing a technological operation for sawing or creating curly cut involves the formation of a line corresponding to the task. That is, the cut should be even with minimal tolerances for deviation.

These requirements are required:

  • Ensuring a tight fit of mating surfaces.
  • Create minimal gaps.
  • Formation of the correct geometry of the structure from machined parts.
  • Attractive appearance cutting lines and details, in general.

Briefly about the tool

A jigsaw is a mini-saw that facilitates the work of a person. The tool processes wood and its derivatives, metal blanks and plastic. The principle of operation is to transmit oscillatory movements in the vertical plane to the cutting tool. Moving up and down, in parallel with the translational movement, the jigsaw makes a cut in the semi-finished product.

In addition to vertical reciprocating movements, some power tool models are equipped with a pendulum stroke. Feature - the file moves in a vertical plane and at the same time back and forth. That is, in the working position, the teeth are in contact with the material. In the opposite direction, the file moves back, interrupting the interaction.

Design features

To properly operate a jigsaw is, first of all, to know its device and technical capabilities.

  • bed . It is the base on which the rest of the instrument is attached. The platform must be flat, rigid and durable - the correct direction of the sawing depends on this, and, accordingly, the ability to perform precise cut. In addition, the massiveness of the base eliminates the resulting vibration during operation.
  • Frame . It combines the main components - the engine, gearbox, saw blade attachment system, controls. It is carried out in two forms - with an arched (staple-shaped) handle or a "mushroom" ("ironing"). Ergonomics, - the convenience of gripping the tool, indirectly affects the performance of operations with minimal tolerances for deviation.
  • saw blade attachment mechanism . Reliability of fixation, absence of free movements (backlash), keeping the direction in one plane is one of the technical possibilities for precise sawing.

Useful equipment

Implementation even seam contributes to a number of devices produced for the jigsaw:

  • Compass stop . It will be required for accurate cutting of a circle.
  • Parallel side stop . Designed for straight cuts. The straightness of the seam depends on the condition of the lateral (retaining) side.
  • Guide bar . Allows you to perform an accurate straight cut at a distance of 20 centimeters or more.
  • Platform overlay. Reduces the coefficient of friction, increases sliding on the surface of the workpiece.
  • Anti-scalding insert. Reduces the chance of chipping. Useful for processing laminated materials.

Characteristics affecting the accuracy of the cut

The electric jigsaw has certain characteristics that indirectly or directly affect the nature of the cut. For clarity, the indicators are summarized in a table.

Characteristic Note
Power Affects productivity, speed and depth of cut. That is, it is easier to saw the workpiece without the application of external forces with a more powerful unit than with a weak one. Reduces the likelihood of vibration, bending of the file, yaw to the side
Stroke frequency (number of revolutions) The indicator is important for choosing the sawing mode for a particular material. Affects cutting speed. High for softwood, low for steel
Smooth start The function allows you to smoothly, without jerking and impact, start the cutting operation. The moment the seam is formed depends on the initial gash, - perfect hit on a path or at an angle.
Weight Increasing the weight of the tool reduces the effect of vibration, pull to the side
File stroke Directly related to power. Weak Aggregates when processing thick parts, they work in peak mode, at the limit of their capabilities. Consequence - increased vibration, bending of the file, departure from the path
Pendulum move Speeds up the cutting process, but the quality of the cut deteriorates
Speed control Allows you to choose optimal mode cutting according to the characteristics of the workpiece material
Maintain rpm under load Movement stability cutting tool in the process of processing the material, allows you to create a smooth, without chips and departure from the trajectory sawing seam
Airflow direction Blowing the cutting zone with an air flow from a fan that cools the engine sweeps away sawdust. Improved view of the cutting point
Illumination of the cutting area Backlight working area increases visual control of the direction of the cut

Important point , - no matter what the characteristics of the tool, a poor-quality assembly can nullify the capabilities of the device.

Cutting tool

The second most important element of the jigsaw, which affects the accuracy of the cut.

File parameters:

  • Blade length . Determines, in addition to power, the thickness of the workpiece. Dimensional mismatch leads to peak operating modes, vibration. The fact of breaking the seam is very likely - an increase in width, the formation of uneven edges.
  • Web width . Increasing the size helps to maintain the direction of the cut. Narrow files are convenient for making curved lines.
  • Canvas thickness. Increases hardness cutting attachment, - the probability of drift to the side decreases. The perpendicularity of the file to the surface of the workpiece is maintained. The quality of the cut is improved.
  • Tooth pitch. Defines the type of material to be processed. Parameter 3~6mm is for rough wood processing. 2 ~ 3 mm - clean cut of the laminate, furniture panels, parquet board. Up to 1 mm - metal processing. For the convenience of the consumer, markings are applied on the side - the inscriptions "wood", "metal", etc.
  • Divorce of teeth. Allows you to make a seam size that does not interfere with the movement of the canvas. There is no possibility of jamming, skew.
  • Blade material. Affects the strength, rigidity and sharpness of the teeth. The distortion of any parameter affects the quality of the seam.

Files for work on ceramics, glass, polymers are produced. Right choice cutting tool is one of the guarantees of an accurate cut. Additional factor- the sharpness of the teeth. blunt file even cut do not execute.

Processed material

The type of material being processed, its thickness quite strongly affects the quality of processing. The use of a wood saw for cutting pine, larch or oak blanks leads to different results due to the strength properties of wood.

Another example, working with different types steel, stainless steel and black iron. Here there is a difference in strength, toughness, brittleness.

Sawing a workpiece

Work with a semi-finished product consists of several stages:

  • Acquaintance with the processed material, its properties.
  • Choice of cutting mode, selection of the necessary cutting tool (sawing file), auxiliary equipment.
  • Checking the performance of the jigsaw, the serviceability of individual elements, the absence of play in moving parts.

Sawing a tree

Stages of work:

  • The technical capabilities of the jigsaw are checked with geometric parameters workpiece and processed material:
  • The working stroke - the thickness of the part - the length of the file.
  • Type of wood - saw blade thickness - tooth size.
  • Tree properties - cutting mode (stroke frequency).
  • The need for a pendulum function. For a clean cut, the function is disabled. Speed is important - a pendulum stroke is used, but the accuracy of the cut is reduced.
  • The question of the use of additional equipment is being considered. The decision depends on the requirements for the evenness of the cut and the magnitude of the errors.
  • being prepared workplace. Main characteristic stands - ensuring strength, rigidity and stability. Another property is the flatness of the table surface.
  • The cutting line is marked. If there are no restrictions on the brightness of the line, then it is advisable to use a black marker. In another option, it is advisable to use a pencil - its traces can be wiped with a student's eraser.
  • The workpiece is fixed on the table. The main requirement is a strong fixation that limits displacement on all sides. The protruding part, if necessary, is weighted with additional supports. This is necessary to reduce the effect of the mass being cut off on the main part and the file. It is required to ensure the free movement of the cutter in a vertical position.

Sawing wood

A jigsaw connected to the mains is installed on the surface of the workpiece. The front of the platform must be flat against the workpiece. Deviations from these recommendations can lead to shock at the beginning of cutting, increased vibration, and removal of the file from the path.

The “Soft Start” function helps to increase the initial accuracy - the engine slowly picks up speed, the cutting process is carried out in the normal mode. The jigsaw must be moved slowly, without jerking, at low speed. Constantly carry out visual control over the position of the cutting point and marking.

A laser beam helps in this process, illumination of the cut line and blowing - removes chips from the markup. B about Greater cutting accuracy will be provided by tracking the saw itself, more precisely, the place of contact with the workpiece.

  1. Thick softwood, over 40~60mm, needs to be cut at the minimum longitudinal feed. Increasing the pressure in this direction will increase the risk of cutting plane curvature - the lower part of the cut will move 1~5 mm to one side. That is, an inclined cut is formed. These recommendations are valid for dense and hard rock wood, glued products, but with a smaller thickness.
  2. Longitudinal sawing (along the fibers) of a tree is advisable to carry out with the pendulum stroke function turned on. In addition to increasing the processing speed, the likelihood of the file moving to the side will decrease, and the accuracy of the cut will increase.
  3. The use of auxiliary equipment is not a panacea - you should not completely rely on fixtures. Constant control over the course of the process is required - it is better to have time to interrupt sawing in time than to make an irreparable mistake.
  4. It is advisable to use the side stop when the edge of the side of the part is even. You can check with a ruler, a carpenter's square, a rule, a laser level.
  5. An increase in cutting resistance is evidence of blunt saw teeth. Another indicator is the strong heating of the cutting tool, a change in color, up to blue-colored shades.

Laminated wood processing

The difference from ordinary wood is the imposition of several layers of additional coating on one or both sides. One of them, from the front, performs strength, protective and decorative functions. For example, laminate parquet board, furniture boards.

The peculiarity of processing is the maximum preservation of the front surface during the sawing process. Fixing requirements are the same wooden blanks. The nuance is in the location of the part itself, up or down with the front part. It depends on the file, with forward or reverse motion.

Chips on the surface are formed on the side facing the jigsaw in the forward mode - the saw teeth are directed upwards. Correction consists in turning the product "face down". Another option is to use a tool with "downward" incisors. The negative effect is an increase in vibration during processing.

  1. The pendulum movement is disabled.
  2. Stroke frequency is maximum.
  3. File for a clean cut. On the side there is an inscription "clean cut" or "clean".
  4. The size of the tooth is not more than 2 mm. It is allowed to use saw blades for metal.

Curvilinear cut

Making curved lines, circles is one of the types of processing, for which, in fact, a jigsaw is needed.

Hole creation:

  • A hole is drilled in the body of the workpiece, with a diameter of b about larger than the file size by 2~3mm.
  • A cutter is passed inside the freshly made opening.
  • The transition to the main line of the cut is carried out along a curved path, - along an arc.
  1. The accuracy of the curvilinear cut will be provided by a narrow file, - “a file for a figured cut”.
  2. Increasing the accuracy of the cut - the use of "emphasis-compass".
  3. Mode: maximum stroke rate, minimum longitudinal feed (movement along the cutting line), pendulum stroke disabled.
  4. Surface sawing without reaming:
  • The front edge of the sole is set outside the marking at an angle to the plane of the workpiece, approximately 45 ~ 60 degrees.
  • Reducing the slope, with a smooth movement bring the file to the surface of the workpiece. Without applying pressure, they crash into the body of the part.
  • Bring the sole to the plane without interrupting the cutting process.
  • Continue cutting along the required path.

In this way, internal holes are made, with a curvilinear (oval, circle) generatrix or at different angles between adjacent sides (rectangle, rhombus, trapezoid).

Sawing metal

Features - the thickness of the workpiece, depending on the power of the jigsaw and the type of steel, does not exceed 10 ~ 12 mm.

Cutter mode:

  • File for metal, - a tooth no more than 1 mm (outwardly it resembles a saw blade of 300 mm for a hacksaw for metal). The inscription is metal (metal).
  • Minimum stroke rate.
  • The pendulum mechanism is not activated.
  1. A thin workpiece (up to 2 ~ 5 mm), in order to increase the accuracy of cutting, reduce vibration, rattle, must be fixed between two sheets of furniture fiberboard. Carry out the marking on the auxiliary surface.
  2. Metal, effect increased loads when sawing, it must be carefully fixed. Ensure free movement of the saw blade in a vertical position.
  3. The long end of the part to be cut is fixed in an additional support.
  4. The initial moment of sawing should be very smooth, without a sharp touch of the metal file.
  5. The use of lubrication contributes to the increase in accuracy - machine oil is applied in drops along the cut line.
  6. It is advisable to cut thick workpieces with breaks for cooling the saw blade and jigsaw.

Sawing tiles

The jigsaw is successfully used for processing tiles or natural stone. Process feature:

  • The combination of brittleness and strength of the material.
  • Increased hardness and abrasiveness.
  • Accelerated cutter wear.
  • The pendulum mechanism is disabled.
  • Minimum RPM.
  • The use of a special file - with applied abrasive material (diamond grit, electrocorundum, etc.).
  • Smooth movement along the cut line at low feed.

An electric jigsaw is convenient for making curved cuts on tiles, other methods are complicated and require special equipment.

The requirements for fixing the product are the same as for other materials. It is recommended to apply wetting with water or oil - this improves cutting conditions, increases the accuracy of processing.

Conclusion

So, the terms of the exact cut:

  • The presence of a properly adjusted jigsaw.
  • Sturdy hard work table.
  • Reliable fixation of the workpiece.
  • Correct markup.
  • Application, if necessary, of additional equipment.
  • The confident hand of a master.

Many people ask: how to cut with a jigsaw smoothly? A similar question arises for almost everyone who previously did not have the skills to work with such a tool. Some useful secrets will help you master the electric jigsaw and learn how to perform even cut any material.

What you need to know about working with a jigsaw?

The jigsaw can be used to cut materials such as wood, tile, metal and even plastic. This tool is ordinary saw equipped with electric drive. The device can have an ordinary vertical or pendulum stroke, in which the jigsaw moves slightly forward when raised, thereby increasing the speed of work. A jigsaw is simply irreplaceable in the household, especially for those who like to do their own hands. Before you start sawing with a jigsaw, you need to familiarize yourself with the technology and prepare the workplace. The table on which the cut will take place should not stagger, it should be stable, not move when pressed.

In order to cut an evenly wide surface, it is necessary to use a special carpentry table, which is attached to the main table with clamps. In this case, sawing is much easier, as the tool remains in place, and the material being cut moves towards it.

To cut on wooden surface was smooth, it is performed with back side(necessarily across the fibers).

If you still need to cut wood along the grain, then use a special parallel stop, which is attached to the tool on one side and to the surface being sawn on the other. Do not let the tool overheat, take breaks in work, otherwise the life of the jigsaw will be short. For the same reason, do not press hard on the tool, as this will cause overheating.

When working with tiles or metal, machine oil is used to lubricate the saw blade. When cutting metal, the cutting line is cooled with cold water. Don't neglect resources personal protection, use glasses and rubber gloves. You need to cut plastic with an electric jigsaw from the back, then the cut will be even. In order to make the cut more accurate, it is necessary to use a special plate that is attached to the base sole of the jigsaw. Thanks to such a device, the saw blade will move more smoothly over the surface, which will ensure an even cut of any surface. If you need to make curly lines, then use thin saws. In order to cut out round hole, use a special circle cutter.

How to make a high precision cut?

You will need:

  • jigsaw;
  • wood;
  • clamps;
  • guides;
  • Ruler and pencil.

In order to perform a high-precision cut, it is not enough to know how to cut with a jigsaw correctly. In addition, you need to fix the material being cut well, and when working with a long blade, use a guide in the form of a flat rail. Prepare 2 clamps so that the board to be sawn and the guide fit in them.

The first step is to mark the board, measure the required distance on both sides with a ruler, make notes, then connect them in such a way that a cut line is obtained. If you need to make a curved cut, then draw it first on paper, then transfer it with carbon paper to wood. In order to transfer the drawing exactly, it is necessary to sand the surface before starting work.

Next, the board is laid on work surface, fix it well along the edges of the table, after which they put the clamps in front of the table. A guide is laid on the board, stepping back from the cut line a distance equal to the width of the tool.

The jigsaw platform should be located near the guide, but at the same time not rest against it, but move freely.

With the help of clamps, they clamp the board with the guide located on it, the fastening must be strong, but not too strong.

After the board is fixed, you can start cutting. A special wide saw is installed on the jigsaw for cutting wood, put the tool on top speed. At minimum speed the tool gets very hot, so it is better not to use it. The pendulum stroke regulator must be set to the number 1. Next, they begin to cut, while pressing down on the edge of the platform and the guide.

In order to make a circle, you need to drill a hole in the center, insert the tool blade into it, make cuts from the middle to the beginning of the markup, then cut out the circle. If you need to make a square or a rectangle, then first they cut out one side, having reached the corner, go around it with a smooth line, then the turn of the second side comes, etc. The corners are drawn up last. By following these guidelines, you can do it yourself.

Any master should know how to work with a jigsaw. It is one of the most sought-after tools in the home workshop: it is convenient to cut wood, plywood, chipboard or fiberboard, a metal sheet, plastic various kinds. With a jigsaw, you can cut a part of almost any shape, if you approach the work correctly.

The jigsaw is an indispensable tool in construction and repair. It can be used to cut Construction Materials or cut holes in them.

Like any household power tool, a jigsaw does not work automatically; it requires skills, experience, dexterity, and a thoughtful approach. It all starts with choosing a tool and Supplies. This is non-trivial task, considering that about a hundred models are sold only from well-known manufacturers.

Types of jigsaws and basic selection rules

The classification of electric jigsaws must begin with general purpose. This is a professional, semi-professional or household tool. They differ significantly technical specifications, as well as a set of features and capabilities. If the jigsaw is to be used often enough, be sure to pay attention to the following characteristics:

  1. Motor power. It determines the capabilities of the tool in working with materials. different thickness and complexity. The more powerful the motor, the faster the speed will be.
  2. The presence of a pendulum mechanism. The pendulum mechanism should preferably be able to adjust the movement parameters. It allows you to work quickly when there is no need for great precision and cleanliness of the cut. The pendulum allows you to work effectively with many materials, especially softwoods, foam and plywood.
  3. Speed controller. They adjust the speed at which the saw will move up and down.
  4. Tilt adjustable base plate. This function is needed in order to cut parts at different angles. There are usually several fixed tilt positions, such as 15°, 30°, 45°.
  5. Laser guide. The beam in the path of the saw will help keep the line of the saw cut, resulting in a clean cut. Also, jigsaws are equipped with metal guides, but their capabilities are limited.
  6. Availability of a quick-release chuck. Such a device will help to replace the saw in a matter of seconds (without effort and the use of an additional tool).
  7. Power supply. A battery-operated tool is more mobile, but for long work he is missing.
  8. Saw set. It is usually sold separately, but is important for working with a certain material. Usually the manufacturer indicates what material the saw is intended for cutting, what steel it is made of, what the direction and size of the teeth are.

These are just some of the main features. If we are talking about a professional tool, it is much more difficult, as it has the ability to fine tuning and a wide range of features.

Preparing the jigsaw for use

When preparing a jigsaw for use, you must adhere to the rules for working with electric tool. It is necessary to inspect the device for damage, check the condition power cable and connection to the power supply network. Work without goggles and gloves is prohibited by safety regulations.

To work with different materials it is necessary to select specially designed canvases for them and correctly configure the corresponding modes. For example, for soft woods, you can use the pendulum mechanism and high speed saw blade movements. For cutting laminated chipboard to avoid chipping, the pendulum mechanism must be turned off, but the speed of the saw should be left high.

High-quality marking of the material, a thick, clearly visible line - a guarantee that exactly the figure that is needed will be cut out. It's good if the tool has a laser guide. It will help keep the right line. If not, you can navigate by the marks applied to the base plate.

Each type of plastic has its own cutting characteristics, but general rules exist for everyone. These are small teeth on the saw, the pendulum mechanism turned off or set to a minimum and minimum speeds.

To understand how a jigsaw works on high level, you need to gain some experience and skills. There are a lot of ways to work with this tool, all of them depend on specific task, device capabilities and processed material. But with some universal advice you should read:

  1. The most commonly performed operation is the long straight cut. To cut straight, you need to choose a saw with a wide blade, it will help keep the line. In addition, many tools are equipped with a "soft start" function. If a straight line is especially important, this function must be enabled. The engine in this case is gaining momentum gradually, therefore, the beginning of the cut will be even. It doesn't take much effort to hold the tool when turned on. An electric jigsaw can cut a figure of almost any complexity. But this only applies professional tool, which can, for example, be rotated through 360°. A household jigsaw will not take sharp turns.
  2. Electric drill - essential tool when it comes to working with a jigsaw. For example, to cut a circle or other shape inside the material, you must first drill a hole into which the saw will fit.
  3. When working with a jigsaw, strong pressure is not only not useful, but even harmful. It will in no way speed up the process, except that it will lead to rapid wear of the saw and tool breakage. The speed of the device is regulated by the methods described above. You just need to guide the jigsaw with your hand, taking care to obtain the required cut configuration. In order not to constantly hold the start button with your finger, it can be blocked with a button specially designed for this. Power tools are designed to facilitate, not complicate the work of a person.
  4. Electric jigsaws have a dust removal function. To implement this function, it is necessary to connect a vacuum cleaner to the nozzle. But it is worth remembering that this is by no means a simple household vacuum cleaner, but a special construction one. The fact is that in a household unit there is not enough high-quality filtration in order to retain fine dust. It can penetrate into the electric motor, which will lead to its damage.
  5. To avoid vibration when cutting a thin sheet of metal, you can take plywood and use it as a substrate. In addition, the rattling will be less if you choose the right speed for the saw. It should be remembered that when cutting metal, frequent breaks must be taken so as not to spoil the saw and not to overheat the engine. Low power jigsaw better metal don't drink at all.
  6. In order to cut any figure with high quality, it is necessary to securely fasten the material. Clamps, quick-clamping or conventional, are useful here. Work better for carpentry workbench and not on a stool. On an unstable piece of furniture, the material should be well fixed. Most likely to do it without outside help fail.

In order to avoid chipping from the bottom or top side, for example, laminated chipboard, it is necessary to choose the right saw or right side rotate material. But, if there is a need to get a chip-free cut on both sides, you can use a small piece of fiberboard. It must be put on top of the chipboard and start sawing. The chip will remain on the fiberboard, the plate will be with a clean cut.

Using a blunt saw is not recommended for several reasons. First, the quality of the cut will be low. Secondly, a blunt saw will only increase the load on the jigsaw motor, which will lead to premature wear. It is better to immediately replace the saw after it began to cut worse.
