Making a bed with a lifting mechanism with your own hands, the subtleties of the process. How to assemble a bed with a lifting mechanism How to assemble a city bed with a lifting mechanism

Having a bed as a sleeping place is a wonderful privilege not available to everyone. small apartment. But still, having allocated a place for a healthy rest, many families are faced with the impossibility of placing a closet, because the bed is large and occupies a significant part free space. To solve the problem of storage in a small bedroom, you can use an ergonomic bed with a lifting mechanism. It performs several functions at once: comfortable, orthopedically correct sleeping place, as well as a roomy box for bedding, located below and does not annoy the owners. Is it possible to assemble such a bed yourself or do you need the help of skilled workers? In this article, we will answer your questions and provide detailed assembly instructions.

Detailed scheme for assembling a bed with a lifting mechanism

The desired bed has been purchased. How to collect it? In fact, a bed with a lift folds, like a regular bed, only details are added, in the form of a gas lift or a spring mechanism.

First stage involves the assembly of the bed box. The lining panels are connected to each other, the central crossbar is attached, on which they are laid for further fixing chipboard sheets, MDF or wooden shields(bottom material is completed depending on the model of furniture and its price). Next, the headboard is attached, and the finished box is covered with a removable cover, most often soft (but again, it all depends on the model chosen, some budget options are not supplied with such a cover).

At the second stage lifting mechanism is installed. It is very important to do it correctly, because inaccuracies in placement, an error in determining the sides, can disrupt the operation of the lift, break the mechanism. Experienced craftsmen recommend ordering an already assembled lifting device, which must be attached in turn to the lower case. At the same time, the lifting mechanism is mounted directly first, and gas shock absorbers are installed on it.

Third stage consists of the assembly of the upper part of the bed, most often it is orthopedic base on lamellas. They are driven into special holders with a hammer. This takes a lot of time, because each lamella must be fixed on both sides, and there are at least 15 of them on a single bed, twice as many on a double bed.

Fourth stage involves the connection of the upper base with a lifting mechanism. The sequence is the same: first, the top of the bed is screwed to the lift, and then a gas shock absorber is attached to it. At the same time, all work is carried out with the base raised and the mechanism folded back.

The main process is completed. If necessary, some parts are tightened, legs are installed (if they are provided in the package), the mechanism is tested, it is lubricated for silent operation.

It is possible to assemble the bed yourself or it is better to use the help of specialists

It is possible to assemble a lifting bed on your own, this is not a super task only for the initiated. Usually, each piece of furniture is accompanied by instructions from the manufacturer, which has all the necessary instructions for correct installation. Of course, any consultant will offer help professional craftsmen, it is his direct responsibility. But you have the right to refuse the service, to assemble it yourself. There are several important points that should be mentioned:

  • any damage that occurs during self installation are not guaranteed;
  • time spent on self-assembly furniture, are not compensated by anyone;
  • a failed lift, during the unexpired warranty period is not compensated free of charge if it is proved that the failure was due to incorrect self-assembly.

At the same time, by paying extra for a professional assembly service, you save time and protect yourself from non-warranty breakdowns.

What difficulties may arise in the process of assembling a lifting bed

For experienced craftsmen such furniture does not involve any difficulties, they assemble, disassemble the bed - this is an hour of time. Beginners will have to tinker a little longer to bring the bed and lifting mechanism in working condition. The main difficulties that a person may encounter when assembling a bed for the first time are listed below:

  1. The presence in the design of technologically blind holes that need to be drilled. Most often they are found in the back of the headboard. An inexperienced person will be puzzled how to attach it to the box. The answer is simple - they need to be drilled and connected with screws.
  2. Assembly and installation of gas lift. The process is technologically complex, requiring accuracy and symmetry when placing. It is difficult to describe it, it will be clearer to watch the training video.
  3. No markings on wooden frame, or its incorrect application. This is the most unpleasant difficulty, because you cannot overcome it on your own. You can ask the manufacturer for clarification or call a furniture maker who, from the height of his experience, will tell you the right option.

Now you have step-by-step instruction for installation lifting bed, and the question: “how to assemble?”, no longer looks so intimidating. With proper effort and patience, this process is doable for anyone, and choose suitable model you can visit the site.

I've always loved convertible bedroom furniture. The available space under the mattress allows you to put a lot of things into the bed frame, this replaces a wardrobe or chest of drawers, which is important for small bedroom. I decided to make a double bed with a lifting mechanism myself.

I have been making furniture for a long time in my small workshop. The presence of appropriate equipment and a large set of tools greatly facilitated the solution of my task. After a short search in the means mass media chose the design of a bed with a lifting mechanism with gas shock absorbers.

Tools

First, prepare the instrument. Everything you need to make a bed with a lifting mechanism with your own hands is included in the following list.

  • Screwdriver for fixing parts of the furniture base frame.
  • Roulette and metal ruler for marking MDF sheet.
  • Drill for drilling holes in metal parts lifts.
  • Marking pencil.
  • Drill for wood and metal.
  • A drill and a key for confirmations for assembling fragments of the bed frame.
  • Iron for edging with furniture tape.
  • Jigsaw for cutting MDF.
  • Clamps (2 pcs.) for fixing body parts when assembling the body.
  • Hacksaw for cutting boards to the desired size.
  • Knife for removing protruding parts of furniture edge tape.
  • A set of wrenches and heads.
  • A hammer.

materials

The materials needed to make a bed with a lifting mechanism with your own hands were purchased at a supermarket building materials according to the list:

  • confirmations - 8 pcs.;
  • self-tapping screws 25 mm - 20 pcs.;
  • furniture corners (50 × 50 mm) - 4 pcs.;
  • metal corner (32 × 32 mm) - 1.4 m;
  • MDF sheet 2440 × 1830 × 30 mm;
  • fiberboard sheet - 2440 × 1830 mm;
  • edged board 1600 × 150 × 20 mm;
  • insert frame under the mattress (orthopedic base on a metal frame);
  • furniture legs - 6 pcs.;
  • edge furniture tape - 10 m;
  • gas shock absorbers (425 mm from 800 N) - 2 pcs.;
  • metal strip (50 × 3 mm) - 1.3 m;
  • PVA glue - a tube;
  • bolts, washers, nuts - m 6;
  • metal bushings (10/16 mm) - 8 pcs.

The whole process of assembling a bed 160 x 200 with a lifting mechanism with his own hands outlined in the following instructions.

Step-by-step instruction

The work was divided into several stages:

  • preparation and assembly of MDF parts,
  • installation of an insert frame under the mattress,
  • production of lifting mechanisms,
  • assembling a bed frame with a lifting mechanism with your own hands.

Preparation and assembly of MDF parts

  1. On a sheet of paper I drew drawings of a bed with a lifting mechanism.

  1. On a sheet of MDF with a pencil, using a tape measure and a metal ruler, I marked the future details of the case.
  2. The MDF sheet was cut into pieces convenient for cutting.
  3. On the workbench, I fixed parts of the MDF sheet with clamps.
  4. Using an electric jigsaw, I cut out the elements for assembling the bed body 1600 x 2000 with a lifting mechanism.
  5. The ends of all parts were wiped with a damp cloth.
  6. Pressing down with an iron edging tape, ironed all the ends, except for those facing the floor.
  7. Exposed headboard (1664 × 772 mm), two side drawers (2054 × 296 mm), back wall(1664 × 296 mm) and a cross board (150 × 1608 × 20 mm).
  8. FROM outside corner connections drilled 2 holes for confirmations.
  9. I installed the fasteners with a Phillips screwdriver.
  10. The heads of the confirmations were closed with plastic plugs on PVA glue.
  11. Inside 4 corners, I installed plastic corners with a screwdriver.
  12. To ensure additional rigidity of the frame, I installed a transverse board, connecting it to the sidewalls with metal corners on screws.
  13. The fiberboard sheet was cut with an electric jigsaw to the dimensions of 2054 × 1664 mm.
  14. The assembled frame was placed on its side. Around the entire perimeter of the bed, I fixed the bottom sheet of fiberboard with screws.
  15. From below, at the corners of the frame and in the middle, the tsarg drilled holes. Put the legs in them. plastic supports provide easy movement of furniture on the floor. At wet cleaning leg rooms exclude contact of MDF with a wet floor.

Installation of an insert frame under the mattress

I bought an inset frame in disassembled form, which is convenient for transporting it in transport. Following the instructions, I assembled the retractable base without much difficulty. For this it took wrench and a screwdriver.

Manufacturing of lifting mechanisms

Not everyone is able to make lifting mechanisms themselves. They can be purchased at assembled in the construction supermarket. I decided to make the lifts myself. Lifts made according to the drawing.

For the manufacture of mechanism components, it was required:

  • corner 32 × 32 mm, length 700 mm - 2 pcs.;
  • steel strip 50 x 640 x 3 mm - 2 pcs.;
  • ties 150 mm long - 2 pcs.;
  • ties 430 mm long;
  • hinge bushings - 8 pcs.;
  • gas shock absorbers - 2 pcs.

The only difficulty was the formation of vertical deflections in steel strips for the hinged fastening of the lower ends of the levers. I had them made in a locksmith's shop using a small press.

Assembling a bed with a lifting mechanism with your own hands

The most difficult operation remained - the assembly of the bed frame and the lifting mechanism into a single structure. For final assembly I asked two of my friends to help. The work was carried out according to the items in the following list.

Bed assembly steps

  1. AT metal frame inset frame drilled mounting holes.
  2. FROM inner sides sidewalls of the bed frame, bolted the lifts through the through holes.

  1. With the help of two assistants who held the inset frame, I bolted the upper parts of the lifts to the frame.
  2. On the outer side of the sidewalls, the bolt heads were closed with plastic plugs in the color of MDF.
  3. I finally checked the reliability and correctness of fastening of the entire movable bed structure.

Labor and cost

The amount of working time spent on making the bed is shown in the following table.

Taking into account the time spent on buying, transporting materials and interruptions in work, the production of this furniture took me 3 days.

All purchase costs necessary materials recorded in notepad. They made up:

  • hardware (confirmations, bolts, nuts, washers, bushings, screws) - 100 rubles;
  • furniture corners - 20 rubles;
  • steel corner 32 × 32 × 1400 mm - 20 rubles;
  • MDF sheet 2440 × 1830 x 30 mm - 2800 rubles;
  • fiberboard sheet 2440 × 1830 mm - 200 rubles;
  • furniture legs (6 pcs.) - 60 rubles;
  • edge furniture tape (10 m) - 70 rubles;
  • two gas shock absorbers - 2000 rubles;
  • edged board - 50 rubles.

Total: 5320 rubles.

I took this bed to the dacha. And for my bedroom I made another model, slightly different in the width of the body. new bed with lifts I assembled it with my own hands measuring 180 × 200 cm. This time I made the case from chipboard. Putting a thin foam rubber, covered external surfaces corps. I did it with a stapler. It turned out very nice and inexpensive.

Every parent wants their child to sleep in a comfortable and practical bed. After considering many options, we chose Trad's bed. In this review, I will show in detail how the bed is arranged and give the procedure for assembling it, since the instructions from the manufacturer are superficial and buyers may have difficulty.

We liked this bed model for several reasons:

  • During the day, such a bed can serve as a sofa, and at night it can be used for sleeping. This does not require additional folding / unfolding of the bed.
  • The sofa bed has sides from the wall, so there is no need for a wall-mounted bedside rug.
  • There is a niche for storing a bed (or other things).
  • The bed is equipped with a convenient and easy-to-use lifting mechanism.

Fabric composition: polyester - 100%
Fabric density 1m 2: 251.5 g/m 2

The bed is sold unassembled. Each part is well packed in a separate box with a seal.

The bed is sold without a mattress, we purchased it separately. Our mattress is double-sided, one side is softer ( medium hardness), the second is harder.

As a summary - when choosing the type of lifting mechanism, take note of this information.
In Ukraine, similar corner beds with gas lift found at the link https://www.promobud.ua/krovati-uglovie-na-zakaz-an267677.htm

After all the elements are screwed to the side parts, we assemble the backs and sides together.

If the holes do not match in height, then you can put something)

After the bed outline is assembled, install the jumper.

We tighten the nuts from below. Open-end wrench (or head) No. 13.

To prevent the mattress from slipping when raised, we install a mattress limiter. You need to hit it with something, for example, a rubber mallet, so that it sits tightly.

What surprised me very much, fiberboard, two sheets that serve as the bottom (base) of the niche, are simply placed on the floor. There is not a word about this in the instructions, so at first we were looking for a long time how to fix these sheets.

The final touch - fastened the fabric loop to the frame of the lifting mechanism. You can find the loop in a bag that is sewn with staples to one of the parts of the bed.

Fastens simply by throwing a loop.

If we tinkered with the first bed, then the second one gathered very quickly. Experience is a big deal.

We planned to put an openwork partition between the beds. But since the beds entered the niche along the wall very tightly, we will think about how to proceed. While the beds were placed headboards to each other.

The mattress is raised quite high. I expected that it would lie lower and the back would be higher.

The beds matched perfectly. In general, we are satisfied.

Assembling the beds is half the battle. Now you need to glue their legs with felt so that they do not tear the parquet. Also buy waterproof mattress covers, you never know what the children will spill there) In addition, since the niche is almost the floor, it is advisable to purchase some kind of packaging for storing the bed.

We cheerfully go to the trash can to take out the packaging, after which we go to Ikea.

From there we bring these fabric boxes to store the bed. Just super! Browse by .

Felt on a self-adhesive for legs. By the way, it holds surprisingly tightly, you won’t tear it off.

As well as mattress covers and a couple of sheets-pillowcases. Review bed linen will be separate.
I wrote about Ikea mattress covers.

Fiberboard sheets from the bottom, I decided to throw it away completely, they will only stick on the floor and interfere with cleaning.
We will use niches for the time being to store a spare bed.

The beds are complete) There are also bedspreads to match the walls, but they need to be trimmed, they are too wide.

Thank you for your attention!

In urban apartments, the issue of lack of space is acute. How to optimize space so as not to overload it redundant systems storage? Ideal Solution- purchase of a bed with a lifting mechanism. This design will allow you to save space due to the capacious drawers in which you can hide unnecessary things. However, after the purchase, a logical question arises: how to assemble a bed with a lifting mechanism?

In fact, there is nothing complicated about this, the only thing that is required for quick installation- the presence of a screwdriver or screwdriver. It is also advisable to enlist the support of an assistant: if you plan to assemble a double bed, you cannot do without help. And don't forget to follow the directions exactly. Otherwise, the design may turn out to be shaky or deformed.

If you do not have an engineering background, before starting the assembly, watch a few training videos that show each step of the work in detail. This will allow you to understand the structure and get it right the first time.

The instructions for assembling the lift beds are simple and easy to understand. Each model has all the necessary grooves and markings for fasteners, so even an inexperienced master can handle the installation. The main differences are in the types of mechanisms.

The frame consists of side and cross bars, which are fastened along the inner perimeter with special support bars and metal corners using ordinary screws. The formed inner box allows you to fill the space between the floor and the bed with any things.

In some cases, the assembly of the bed with a lifting mechanism is carried out using wedge-shaped joints: this type of fastening does not require tools. It is necessary to insert one part into another and lower it all the way. If the fastening does not seem secure enough, you can tighten the screws with a screwdriver or screwdriver and repeat the assembly.

The lift bed frame is attached to the body only by the lower part of the lift mechanisms, which are already installed on most models. For installation, you just need to place the structure on the assembled box and tighten the screws. After that, the mechanisms are installed according to the specified scheme.

To ensure the reliability of the entire structure, a central leg is attached to the longitudinal bar of the frame. Then you can start installing the lamellas. Installation is made from the head of the bed, usually on the left side. The slats are inserted into the nests with the curved sides up. Physical force may be required to install them, but do not try to bend the boards too much, otherwise you will break them.

Assembly diagram of a bed with a lifting mechanism

Each bed has the same box design, regardless of the features of the lifting mechanism or the presence of legs. It is not difficult to assemble, because each model comes with detailed instructions which requires the following steps:

  • box assembly;
  • Mounting legs (if required);
  • Installation of corner braces;
  • Mounting of the lifting mechanism;
  • Traverse mounting;
  • Installation of mattress holders and frame.

The scheme for assembling a bed with a lifting mechanism has a minimum of differences and consists only in design features. For example, some models require the installation of legs, while others do not have a headboard. All these differences are not significant during assembly: you can use any video instruction from the Internet, where you will be shown in detail all the stages of work.

After all the work done, check the operation of the mechanism by raising and lowering the frame several times. It should move smoothly along the guides and not get stuck. If the structure “floats” or jerks, check how tight you screwed the screws and, if necessary, repeat this assembly step. After a successful check, lay the mattress on the frame - and your bed is ready.

As you can see, assembling a bed with a lifting mechanism with your own hands is quite simple. The main thing is to carry out all stages of work in full accordance with the attached instructions.

Most apartment residents high-rise buildings want to have a good wide bed where you can comfortably relax. Meanwhile, the bedroom area in most of the apartments is very limited. Often a situation arises when a wide bed blocks access to wardrobes or interfere with opening balcony door. And then the only real way out becomes the acquisition of a bed with a lifting mechanism. It will make the bedroom spacious and comfortable during the day, while maintaining its intended purpose at night.

A bed with a lifting mechanism is quite practical, as it can store things.

Components with lifting mechanism

To assemble such a bed, it is necessary to put together all the components of the structure. This is a frame, lifting mechanism, mattress and closet in which the bed is removed in the raised state. The frame consists of two side boards 2 m long each and two transverse boards 1.4 or 1.5 m. Along its inner perimeter, two rows of support strips are fastened to self-tapping screws, usually from a metal corner.

The support frame of the mattress rests on the top row, and several sheets of plywood or chipboard rest on the bottom row. Thus, between the mattress and the floor, an inner box is obtained where bedding can be stored. AT wide bed for the sake of convenience and strength, it is divided by a longitudinal partition into two parts.

The details of the lifting mechanism are made of steel and consist of two movable hinges that are attached to the head of the bed, two spring lifting systems with retractable rods and two gas shock absorbers. The mattress is included in the package ordinary, spring orthopedic. The closet is assembled from laminated chipboard in such a way that the raised bed fits snugly into it. In the lower part of the cabinet, at the height of the headboard, a transverse bar is installed, to which the lifting mechanism system is attached.

Structure Assembly Diagram

As recommended by the attached instructions, first assemble the closet, into which the raised bed is removed. Then the actual assembly of the bed begins. First, the side and transverse boards are laid out, and the supporting corners, first of all, the lower ones, are screwed to them with self-tapping screws. Then the box-shaped frame is screwed together, while it is necessary to clearly verify the correctness of all angles, otherwise it may not fit into the cabinet.

Parts of the plywood bottom are placed on the lower support frame and are also fastened with bolts and nuts through the holes in the corners. Then the upper row of supporting corners and the longitudinal partition are attached. inner space. After that, the assembly of parts of the lifting mechanism begins.

To the transverse plane located at the head of the bed, two movable loops are attached on the upper edge. They allow the extended structure to fit snugly into drawer cabinet. Spring lifting systems are attached to the side walls of the box-shaped frame at the ends 80-90 cm from the headboard. Gas shock absorbers are installed in parallel on the same mounts. It is necessary to carefully monitor that they stand strictly symmetrically, otherwise the entire system will very soon fail due to overloading of one of the parties. On the opposite side of the headboard, two support legs are attached at the corners. After that, the support frame of the mattress is bolted to the upper perimeter of the corners, and then the orthopedic spring mattress itself can be laid on top of it.

After that, the assembly process can be considered complete. With the help of the lifting mechanism, the whole bed, if assembled correctly, should be easily lifted into the closet with one hand. The lifting speed must be sufficiently smooth. It must be admitted that such beds in furniture stores and shops often have an unreasonably high price, since the demand for them is traditionally high. Making them to order is also very costly, for the same reasons.

So that the best option is the manufacture of such a bed on its own.

Moreover, it is not a problem to make a frame, purchase a mattress and parts of the lifting mechanism, as well as all related accessories.
