Gypsum panels with their own hands. How to make a decorative gypsum panel yourself? Do-it-yourself gypsum panel: master class

Everyone wants to make their interior original and not like its other varieties. Purchased items often do not meet the taste preferences of an individual, and they are always missing something. However, such a problem is easy to fix with the help of an original do-it-yourself panel.

The gypsum product looks very unusual in any corner of the house. It is possible to think through everything in detail and choose your own unique style. Each element can be made based on your own vision, without relying on standards. Consider the basic rules and nuances of making panels on the wall with your own hands.

Before proceeding directly to the manufacture of the product itself, it is necessary to make the so-called gypsum rods that will frame the selected elements.

In order to make them yourself, you will need:

  • Table or board made of chipboard.
  • Gypsum.
  • Grid for drywall.
  • Wooden template on a metal base.

Lubricate the surface of the table or chipboard board with petroleum jelly. It is necessary to determine the size of the thrust. Then part of the gypsum should be kneaded, it should resemble sour cream in consistency. After that, in a thin stream, you need to pour the composition along the entire length of the rod, which is marked in advance with a pencil on a board or table. Then a special mesh for drywall is taken and pressed into the composition. Gypsum is poured over it again. By using wooden template align the composition. Then you need to wait a bit until the gypsum sets, and pour it again. The next stage - the excess composition is removed by the template and, after waiting a little, is added again thin layer. After each filling, you need to without fail go over the top of the template. And finally, the last layer of gypsum should be very liquid, resembling kefir in consistency. And, of course, we clean up the template. The basis for the panel is ready.

Plaster decorative panel: stage 2

For the next step you will need:

  • Sand.
  • Figures.
  • Square shape.
  • Paper.
  • Nitro paint.
  • Screwdriver.

After the figures are selected, and this can be anything, depending on the type of interior. We take an object and place it in a container with sand. It must be placed in horizontal position and bury only half, even a little less.

Highly important rule in the manufacture of panels is the complete absence of sand on the surface of the product, so be sure to brush it off with a brush.

Then, with the help of Vaseline, the figure (its protruding part) is smeared, and parchment is laid on the sides and framed. square shape. It can be purchased or made independently from wood.

Materials that will be required during the work

  • Flat wooden blocks.
  • Scotch.

It will not be difficult to wrap the bars with tape around the perimeter of the future product. Then the figure is poured with plaster. The mesh is embedded on top. After that, it is necessary to pour another layer of gypsum and level it.

It is important to let the composition harden for 2-4 hours and only then remove the wooden form.

Then a layer of gypsum is peeled off over the figure. Additional patterns can be made on this print, but this is optional. They can be created using a regular screwdriver, after making sketches with a pencil. After creating the relief, the cast must be painted over with nitro-lacquer. To do this, you can use ordinary car dye, which dries very quickly.

Then the surface is smeared with petroleum jelly and filled with plaster. In this case, the composition should be slightly shaken with hands to enrich it with oxygen and leveled with a spatula. After drying, and this requires at least 5 hours, the plaster should be very carefully separated from the figure.

Do-it-yourself gypsum panel: master class

The last stage in the manufacture of panels is one of the most creative, but also responsible.

We prepare the necessary tools:

  • Traction.
  • Cast figures.
  • Pencil.
  • Stationery knife.
  • Skin for 150.
  • Dowels.

To do this, along the perimeter of the future product, rods are mounted in the wall, which are fixed with dowels. We mark the location of the figures with a pencil and make notches with a knife. After that, with the help of an adhesive, we attach the forms and fix them again with dowels for greater strength.

Before installation, you need to make sure that all the figures have dried out, otherwise they will begin to crumble like plaster.

The holes that were formed as a result of fastening can be puttied. Then all the figures need to be carefully sanded in the places of marriage. Dimples and bumps are quickly eliminated with a 150 grit sandpaper.

Element selection

A decorative panel can be formed using a wide variety of shapes. It can be vintage elements, and any other that will only please.

You can choose absolutely anything, depending on your preferences, as well as view the options in the photo.

The panel is installed both in the living room and in the kitchen and bedrooms. This also determines the choice of figures that will decorate the product.

It can be:

  • Items kitchen interior: teapot, saucepan, cups, vases.
  • The illusion of the silhouette of a person, animal, flowers.
  • Bedroom items: reduced chairs, sofa, bed, etc.

Gypsum panel on the wall (video)

The master class will help you easily do original panel and complement the wall elements, making the room more refined. Why be like everyone else, if you can experiment without special costs. If you want to add zest to your interior with the help of a plaster panel - go for it.

Examples of gypsum panels (photo)

Many are faced with a situation where the interior is boring and needs to be renovated, but the standard wallpaper on the walls is not inspiring. Stylists offer to enliven the room using the technique of bas-relief or decorative plaster panels. There are many ways to use this material. These may be the most simple elements, which you can do with your own hands, or highly artistic works of extra-class masters.

Panel - what is it and what is it eaten with?

As a decorative element of the interior, the panel itself has existed for a very long time. "Pannus" - translated from Latin means fabric, because earlier this decor was made of textiles. Today the term is used in combination with a wide variety of different materials such as plaster, paper, wood, glass and others.

Most often, the panel serves wall decoration, sometimes - ceiling. Depending on the author's idea, it can be framed with a frame, which is also made of plaster, wood, metal, etc.

Gypsum has many advantages over other materials for applications in creative process. It is quite cheap, durable, products made from it are easily restored in case of damage and it will not be difficult to work with it. Due to the properties of increasing during solidification in solution, the composition fills the molds well, contributing to the exact repetition of the smallest elements of the compositions. The following are a few master classes on creating decorative plaster panels.

How to create a decor from gypsum leaves?

To create this panel you will need:

  • gypsum;
  • water;
  • sand;
  • PVA glue;
  • beautiful embossed leaves;
  • film;
  • acrylic paints;
  • knife, tweezers.

The process is quite simple, and it can be completely carried out at home, even for a beginner.

First you need to pick up a few large embossed leaves, this is the basis from which gypsum castings are made.

  1. 1. A container is selected, which is filled with sand (leaves should fit in the container). In principle, any free-flowing substitute can be used, such as cat litter, salt or semolina.
  2. 2. From above you need to lay the film. Usually a food grade or cut garbage bag is used.
  3. 3. Next, the selected leaves are laid, wrong side up, since it is the relief of the veins that is more pronounced there.

4. The next step is the preparation of a gypsum mortar. Why, in an old vessel, gypsum is mixed with water in a ratio of 1 to 1.

5. In order for the mixture not to harden quickly, a spoonful of PVA glue is added, or you need to speed up the casting process.

6. Ready solution prepared leaves are poured. In order for the blanks to become stronger, the thickness of the solution layer should be 2-2.5 cm. If the leaflet is very long, it should be reinforced with a special mesh that fits on the already partially poured composition. Sometimes castings are covered with a mixture not in one run, but in several stages. It is important to process the entire surface in the first batch, and required thickness pursue the following approaches. After 20-30 minutes, the gypsum will harden completely.

7. The finished blanks must be turned over and the leaves should be removed from them. They won't be needed anymore. To facilitate the procedure, use a knife, tweezers or other sharp objects. Even if the gypsum has got on the front side, it is easily separated with a knife.

8. Cutting off the extra layer, we determine the contour of the workpiece. Excellent gypsum leaves are obtained, which exactly repeated the relief beauty, every vein and bend of natural ones.

9. Allow the workpiece to dry well.

10. With the help of paints, you can get the desired color.

11. Frame the composition or use it as a panel in the intended version.

Bas-relief of flowers - what do you need to build?

This master class will be more difficult to complete than the previous one, but with a little patience, the result will delight and surprise you with unusual beauty and originality. To make a panel with artificial flowers or a picture, it will come in handy:

  • plaster putty;
  • water;
  • container (small) for mixing the solution;
  • palette knife;
  • wide flat brushes;
  • sandpaper;
  • acrylic paints.

First you need to decide on the image that will be applied to the wall. You can draw a contour yourself with a pencil, if you have drawing skills, or use the help of a stencil. Decorative gypsum putty is diluted in a small volume in a working container.

With the help of a palette knife, a plaster solution is applied to the elements of the prepared drawing. The direction of application is from the edges to the center at a slight angle. The necessary smoothness is achieved by using wide brushes moistened with water. Work is being done in phases due to time constraints. While one element dries, plaster is applied to the second. And so on, until the entire surface is processed. The process is long, takes several days, but the result is worth it.

You can also use a wider brush when smoothing the solution on the elements bigger size. For each fragment, you need to apply 2-3 layers of the composition with mandatory drying. After the drawing is completely dry, gently sand the irregularities and roughness that have arisen with sandpaper. Acrylic paint is used for coloring 2-3 layers. If you fill your hand, you can create real masterpieces in this technique.

A simple master class - a funny fish

This panel will be interesting decorative ornament children's room. Moreover, little helpers can take an active part in its manufacture. Materials and tools that will be needed in the work:

  • plasticine;
  • gypsum;
  • water;
  • pencil, marker;
  • paints (acrylic or watercolor);
  • paper;
  • glass;
  • PVA glue;
  • vaseline or hand cream;
  • acrylic varnish;
  • scissors.

Step-by-step instruction:

1. The contour of the image is applied to the paper or transferred to full size using a pencil and marker.

2. The picture is placed under glass, which is attached to the desktop with adhesive tape so as not to move the picture.

3. Using ordinary plasticine, with the help of twisted flagella, which are pressed against the glass, they repeat the contour of the perimeter of the fish.

4. Inner surface between the contour is smeared with either Vaseline or regular hand cream.

5. A solution is prepared from gypsum, water in the ratio:

Gypsum1.5-2 parts
Water1 part

6. In addition, to increase the setting time and improve strength, it is recommended to add 1-2 tbsp to the solution. spoons of PVA glue. The solution mixes well so that there are no lumps.

7. Ready composition the surface of the fish is poured inside the plasticine fence and is well leveled with a convenient object, for example, a metal ruler. Now you need to give time for the mold to dry. Approximately 2 hours.

9. The next step is grinding with sandpaper. It will help smooth out irregularities and smooth out places of possible chips and unsuccessful cuts.

10. The contour of the elements of the fish (eyes, fins, mouth) is applied to the finished form with a pencil.

11. Using a sharp tip of scissors or a regular nail file, the relief of the drawn contours is pressed through.

12. The next step is painting and varnishing the finished product.

Master class on making panels "African girl"

We will need materials: cover from cardboard box, cardboard, foam tape, food film, coarse salt, buckwheat, PVA glue, printout, acrylic paints, brushes, sponges, Maimeri 688 craquelure, gold powder for grouting, synthetic varnish, decorative elements.

1. We prepare a mold for casting a panel
We need a lid from a hard cardboard box (for example, a shoe box), in the center of which we fix a rectangle made of hard cardboard. On foam tape or in any other way, the main thing is to achieve a height difference - the central rectangle should rise above the base, then on the finished casting we will get an in-depth plane for gluing the printout and a three-dimensional frame around it.
2. Now we "cover" the bottom and walls of our form with a thin cling film. With it, we can easily remove the frozen blank from the mold, and also get a light relief resembling craquelure. The depth and intensity of the relief depends only on us - the film is a very malleable material.
3. Sprinkle salt and buckwheat on the bottom of the mold in places where we want to get potholes and depressions. I scattered around the perimeter of the form and into the corners of our central rectangle, for a smooth transition to the frame.

4. Let's start casting. We prepare gypsum, or in this case, alabaster, and pour it into our mold. In places where we need holes, we install plastic straws for juice. We are waiting for complete solidification and remove our workpiece.

5. We release the workpiece from the film, wash the salt and buckwheat with water (in especially difficult places we help ourselves with tweezers) We dry our result.

6. Let's start decoupage.

In this work, I used a printout on photo paper. Then she concluded that the napkin or rice paper would look much more interesting on such a plaster surface. I will take this into account in other works.
We soak the printout in water, separate the paper layer and carefully glue the resulting film onto the workpiece. Because gypsum absorbs glue, then in advance I primed the entire surface of the PVA. Then I glued a printout on it.

7. Frame and reverse side paint with acrylic paints. We got dark chocolate. We paint depressions, folds and other elements of our relief with yellow, red acrylic. For supporting common gamut our picture. We paint over with a brush or sponge not only on the surface, but also in the depths of the depressions. And also with a sponge-sponge we smooth the transition from the printout to the frame, selecting desired color acrylic.

8. To obtain cracks, apply an even layer of Maimeri 688 on the printout itself, on the frame. Dry with a hair dryer. We rub the resulting cracks with gold powder or shadows.

9. On the frame and inner corners, apply our main dark brown color with a sponge. To even out the color. With a dry brush with gold powder, once again go over the entire plane, highlighting the relief.
10. We cover the work with synthetic varnish. We dry. We will insert a cord into the holes. And we will knit decorative raffia bows.

I hope MC is helpful.

Colorful bas-reliefs - voluminous stucco paintings - can rarely be seen on the walls and ceilings of private houses and apartments. Price self made for modeling and painting sculptural panels is too high and the services of masters are not available to everyone. Therefore, an ordinary homeowner who wants to decorate a home in this way has no choice but to make a bas-relief on the wall with his own hands. But since not all people are endowed with artistic abilities, we propose to consider simplified techniques for creating such images.

Casting stucco in molds

To sculpt a bas-relief decoration on the entire wall shown in the photo below, you need to have drawing skills, since its outline is first applied to the surface. If you are talented in another area, then the solution is simple: make silicone molds, pour plaster decorations into them and stick them on the walls.

Reference. Of course, you can go the simpler way: buy at affordable price decorative molding elements made of modern materials- polyurethane or foam. But it is much more attractive and pleasant to create an individual pattern to your taste, suitable for the design of the room.

Task number one is the manufacture of a three-dimensional prototype - a counter-relief, the basis for a future form. As a rule, the wall details of the landscape are various flowers, vine and other elements of nature that look equally good in any room - kitchen, bedroom or living room. The prototype of the pattern you like can be made in the following ways:

  • sculpt from plasticine or clay;
  • cut from wood;
  • transfer the contours of the picture onto paper and give them a relief using gypsum plaster, as shown in the video at the end of the section:
  • Finally, apply ready-made convex images and figures.

This is what the silicone mold looks like.

Note. You can involve all family members in sculpting a counter-relief, including a child who knows how to handle plasticine well.

Now you need to purchase silicone with a hardening catalyst, whose amount depends on the size of the resulting sculpture, and then proceed according to the following instructions:

  1. Make a bath for pouring, whose sides are 1 cm higher than the prototype. The simplest option- lay the counter-relief on the glass and mold the plasticine sides around.
  2. Mix the silicone with the catalyst in the proportions indicated on the packaging. To control the quality of mixing, a little food coloring can be added to the solution. Pour it into the tub.
  3. After waiting for solidification, remove the silicone mold and remove the burr around the edges with scissors.
  4. Prepare a solution of gypsum or alabaster (the consistency is like that of liquid sour cream) and fill the recess in the mold, remove the protruding part with a spatula. Allow 10-15 minutes to harden.
  5. Remove the finished bas-relief, process its edges and stick it on the wall, ceiling or home fireplace.

Filling the prototype with silicone mortar

Advice. If your pattern has a thin and elongated shape, then after pouring the plaster, carefully lay 1-2 pieces of steel wire along the entire length for strength.

How a bas-relief is cast from plaster with your own hands is shown in the video:

We apply a relief image - a master class

If you are fine with drawing and have a desire to become a novice sculptor, then it is not necessary to make molds to apply a bas-relief. Create a three-dimensional flower pattern right on the wall using this technology:

  1. Clean and level the wall surface. Treat it with a primer deep penetration and wait 30 minutes for it to dry.
  2. Prepare gypsum plaster and apply it in an even layer 3-4 mm thick. It is not necessary to make the surface smooth.
  3. Taking advantage a simple tool- with a plastic spoon, spatula and trowel, complete the desired pattern. The photo below shows an example - an ornament of blossoming roses.
  4. Once the plaster has set, carefully remove wide spatula protruding edges of the resulting petals. If necessary, refine the drawing with a clerical knife.
  5. Cover the bas-relief with a primer. To avoid gaps, it is recommended to add a little dye to it.

The pattern is formed with a regular spoon

Note. Apply the drawing in full, leaving no empty space. The dimensions of the elements do not play a role and can be different, the main thing is that the whole picture looks good.

At the end, the finished bas-relief remains to be painted with a brush - maklovitsa. The ends of the petals can be tinted with a different color using a wide flat brush, as shown in the video tutorial:

We create a full-fledged bas-relief

This is the most complex technique, requiring not only the ability to draw, but also some skills in imposing textured plaster. You need to start work by choosing a pattern and a place on the wall where it will be applied in bulk. The illumination of the site should be correctly assessed, since the bas-relief looks great in the interior due to the play of light and shadow. If it’s not possible to successfully choose a place, then make a picture on any wall, but subsequently install 2-3 lamps above it, as shown in the photo.

Advice. When applying a large relief pattern, the master is close to the surface and cannot see how the whole picture changes in the process of work. Therefore, it is important for a novice sculptor to learn how to evaluate the correctness of actions and often look at the result of their labors from the outside.

To create a bas-relief, use the following technique:

  1. Transfer the contours of the selected pattern to the surface of the wall. There are 2 ways: just draw them with a pencil or copy them onto a transparent film. The latter is applied to the wall, where a thin layer of putty or Marseille wax has already been applied, and the contour is squeezed out along the lines with a slightly pointed object.
  2. Give the drawing volume by applying gypsum plaster to the surface (thick consistency). This must be done in several layers and without haste, forming the outlines of each part with a spatula or other convenient tool.
  3. Since the mortar hardens for a long time (about 3 hours), give clarity to the bas-relief by removing excess plaster with a clerical knife or a narrow spatula. If you removed too much, then correct it with finishing putty.
  4. After the raised image has hardened, remove the remaining sharp edges and smooth out the pattern with sandpaper.

Advice. Do not use solutions of pure gypsum and alabaster for application, they harden too quickly and do not allow you to adjust the details of the picture. Do not forget to prepare the surface of the wall - level and coat with a primer.

When the bas-relief is ready, it can be painted in the desired color (usually white) or painted, creating a real picture. How the wizard does it is shown in the video:

Conclusion

Self-creation of a bas-relief is not an easy task. Stock up on patience and time, and be careful in the process. Without experience, you should not immediately take on a large image, first practice and apply a small 3D drawing on a board or other flat surface. This will allow you to understand the nuances of the formation small parts and master the technique of working with a solution.

Gypsum panels in the interior are a frequent decoration in any architectural styles from ancient egypt to the very modern high tech or techno. Gypsum panel on the wall can be purchased ready-made, you can order a unique creation to the decorator, but this is quite an expensive pleasure, or you can do the work yourself. Gypsum is a natural eco-friendly material that does not cause allergies, is non-combustible and contributes to proper moisture exchange in rooms - in the wet season it absorbs moisture, when the air is dry it gives it away, and therefore gypsum decor is appropriate in any room. Making a plaster panel together with a child is a great idea for a weekend.

Gypsum panels with abstract compositions, images of animals, landscape views, individual items - pipes for a smoker, weapons for a hunter, a battle scene for a military man, mannequins, vintage clothes for a tailor or fashion designer.

How to make a plaster panel on the wall with your own hands

To make three-dimensional paintings from gypsum with your own hands you will have to equip workplace, prepare drawing, tools, materials and be patient. If you have no experience in modeling and working with plaster, you should try to make a small panel to test your strengths and capabilities.

There are several ways to create such art objects:

  • casting into finished silicone molds;
  • mold casting individual production;
  • creation of a three-dimensional gypsum panel on the wall according to your own drawing.

Making a gypsum panel through a finished silicone mold

Before making a gypsum panel, we prepare a place: the table must accommodate the product itself, and if it is a composite of several elements, there are also molds for casting, you need a place for cooking gypsum mixture, placement of tools, materials.

Training

The first thing is the preparation of a drawing according to which the panel will be made. You can download it on the Internet or draw it yourself. If you are planning a panel of vintage items, vegetables, fruits, leaves, prepare them.

To make a plaster panel, you will need materials and tools:

  • palette knife, knife, scalpel;
  • pencil, ruler;
  • sandpaper for 150;
  • rubber spatula, plank or rule;
  • brushes;
  • gypsum or gypsum putty;
  • water;
  • PVA glue to slow down the setting of the composition;
  • container for mixing the solution;
  • plaster mesh;
  • scotch;
  • drywall in scraps for making molds or ready-made silicone molds;
  • liquid nails or special glue;
  • dowels (for fastening large heavy panels);
  • petroleum jelly, hand cream or industrial composition for lubricating the form;
  • primer, paint, plaster for finishing - optional.

The work area must be well ventilated.

Solution preparation

Since gypsum sets very quickly, it is necessary to prepare the solution last, when the place is prepared, all the materials are laid out and the form or objects for its manufacture are ready.

Water is poured into the container, gypsum powder is introduced into it, stirring constantly, until the solution acquires the consistency of liquid sour cream. To slow down the setting, you can add 1-2 tablespoons of PVA glue. The amount of solution should correspond to the volume of the form. After filling out the form, pour the excess, but not into the sewer, it is better to prepare garbage bags or juice packaging - tetra-packs for this purpose.

Preparation of a solution for making gypsum panels with your own hands

Using a silicone mold

Making a panel of gypsum with your own hands is easy if you use ready-made silicone molds- they are sold in abundance in the construction markets and in plaster molding companies.

Preparation method:

  • silicone or foam mold is lubricated special composition, petroleum jelly or just hand cream - any substance containing fat;
  • poured into a mold diluted in water to the consistency of liquid sour cream gypsum mortar;
  • air bubbles are removed from the solution with a brush;
  • After 2-3 hours, the cast is removed from the mold;
  • irregularities are smoothed out with a sandpaper;
  • if necessary, the cast is tinted, varnished

- the panel is ready.

Making panels from gypsum using a silicone mold

It is especially good to use this method if the idea is to create wall cladding with 3D panels large area: according to one mold can be made right amount elements that are glued to the wall liquid nails, special glue or attached with dowels.

panel big size it is better to fasten to the wall with dowels: several holes are drilled in the moistened product, the position of the panel and mounting holes on the wall is marked, reciprocal places for dowels are drilled; then dowel screws are inserted into the holes.

Due to the identity, all parts of the composition are joined to each other with virtually no gaps. Small defects and fastening points with dowels can be easily repaired with putty and cleaned with sandpaper.

The finished panel is painted acrylic paint primed, varnished - optional.

Making panels in your own form

If the intention is to create an individual volumetric composition, work begins with the manufacture of the form. It's over laborious process: First you need to prepare the molds for casting. For example, you want to make a composition of vegetables and fruits for the kitchen, a panel with prints of beautiful autumn leaves for daughter's room decorative panel With sea shells and a goldfish for my son, who is keen on aquarism.

Making a mold

To create a decorative gypsum panel for the kitchen, we take vegetables - carrots, beets or radishes, onions, garlic, fruits - an apple, a pear, a banana. Each element needs its own container, half filled with bulk material - this can be building sand, fine cat litter, salt. The container can be prepared detachable from drywall scraps fastened with adhesive tape - it will be more convenient to take out the finished cast.

We immerse each object in the sand halfway, lubricate the surface with a fat-containing substance, fill it with a diluted gypsum composition of the consistency of sour cream in several stages until the object is completely covered with gypsum. Do not forget to periodically remove air bubbles. To make the composition set more slowly, you can add a couple of tablespoons of PVA glue. The surface of the gypsum, until it has completely hardened, is leveled with a spatula or ruler.

After 2-4 hours, when the mixture hardens, we disassemble the container, take out the cast, clean the surface of sand, if necessary, add relief to our form, deepening the eyes and veins with some sharp object- with a knife, scalpel, screwdriver or chisel. We clean the deepening of the form from dust, grains of sand, cover with enamel paint or lubricate with petroleum jelly. As a result of efforts, we get a mold for casting our vegetable or fruit.

As the basis of the flower petals, you can use flowers made of fabric or foamiran. The form for casting leaves and the leaves themselves are made similarly to the forms and castings of vegetables and fruits, and fabric decorative flowers right size it is necessary to disassemble into its constituent elements, dip each of them into a gypsum mortar or carefully apply it with a brush, leaving no unpainted, dry, paint. From the prepared elements, assemble the composition by fixing it on the wall with liquid nails or special glue. The finished composition is primed and painted.

Casting of individual parts of the decor

Pour the gypsum mortar into the prepared form, get rid of the air, smooth the surface to the level of the top of the form. After 2 hours, when the casting has solidified, it can be removed from the mold and the existing defects eliminated. In the same way, we perform castings of halves of all the vegetables and fruits needed for the composition.

This method is suitable for making blanks for decor of any subject: shells, leaves, flower petals.

Composition assembly

We are preparing a frame for our art object - it can be a ready-made gypsum molding or eaves plank, bead. The basis of the panel can serve as a sheet of drywall or chipboard, fabric, self-made gypsum panel.

On the basis of drywall or chipboard, you can simply glue our castings with liquid nails or Moment glue, and then paint and varnish the entire product.

Finished plaster panel

Panel with woven decor

The use of decorative fabrics for the base requires caution: the direction of the threads must be observed in order to avoid skewing the pattern. A piece is cut out of the fabric according to the size of the base plate made of drywall, chipboard or moisture-resistant plywood, plus an allowance for thickness and hem. The tablet is smeared with PVA glue, a decorative fabric is pulled over it.

The tension must be even rubber spatula air bubbles are expelled and folds are leveled if the fabric is patterned. plain decorative fabrics with a rare weave of threads, you can lay it on a tablet, creating a pattern from folds and creases - this technique is suitable for creating compositions from flowers or vintage figures of people.

Gypsum panel

More hard way- production of gypsum panels. To do this, we supply the base sheet with sides, lubricate the resulting pallet with petroleum jelly or cream, fill gypsum composition, we sink into it plastic mesh for reinforcement, again pour the gypsum mortar in layers, until a panel is 3-4 cm thick or to the height of the sides, we level the surface along the sides with a long ruler or plaster rule.

We lay out the panel blanks on the panel according to a pre-prepared pattern and fill in the solution, remove the air, level it - we get three-dimensional panels from plaster. We carry out finishing: until the mixture has completely hardened, you can deepen the relief, smooth out irregularities, repair defects, if you wish, you can make the base embossed using an impression of a plaster mesh, a patterned roller, textured fabric with an interesting interweaving of threads. But most often in the interiors snow-white gypsum is used with acrylic painting and lacquered.

Mounting panels on the wall

The finished panel of a small size can be fixed on the wall with liquid nails, larger and heavier panels are mounted on dowels. It is better to use dowel screws so as not to get surface chips.

You can frame the panel with a molding or cornice made of plaster moldings, wooden glazing bead, painted in the color of the product or contrasting color. AT modern interior often used volumetric wide framing of a contrasting color of small art objects. Composition of several panels different shapes and size will always attract attention.

Creating a picture from plaster with your own hands

If you have the skills of drawing and modeling, then you will be able to create a picture on the wall. Here you can use several methods of work at once, combine them with each other.

To create a composition, gypsum putty is used. It is more viscous, does not flow, hardens more slowly.

According to the drawing transferred to the wall, layer after layer of gypsum putty is applied and with a palette knife, knife or scalpel they give it the desired shape and volume. In case a high volume is needed, for example, it is necessary to depict a tree trunk, you can use ropes made of synthetic fibers blanks of drywall or PVC pipes glued to the wall, and then reinforcing the frame plaster mesh embedded in the same putty.

A composition for a bedroom depicting large flowers and leaves can be made using pre-cast blanks, the shape of which can be large dense leaves of house plants - sanseveria (popularly - pike tail or mother-in-law's tongue), monstera, varieties of ficus, and petals - lilies, irises made from fabric.

A plaster molding or a cornice fixed with dowels can serve as a frame for the picture, compositions that occupy the entire wall, or even pass to other surfaces, do not need to be framed, but purely and in coloring.

Decorative finishing of gypsum panels

Do-it-yourself gypsum panels can be finished with gilding, silvering, decorative plaster, artificially age.

The simplest type of gypsum stucco decoration is painting on a primer with snow-white acrylic paint with the inclusion of marble dust and wax particles. So the plaster panel will get the effect of a lotus - the repulsion of dust and dirt, and the reflective marble dust particles will give the surface a glowing effect.

More complex view decor - patination: tinted gypsum along the edges and convex parts is painted in a little more dark shade or covered with gold or silver paint, then the decorative layer is partially removed with sandpaper, the panel is varnished.

A gypsum panel can be finished with decorative mineral roll plaster, painted with multi-layer compositions, for example, 3-4 shades in yellow-brown tones are used to simulate fallen leaves, while it is easier to start with the lightest tone:

  • cover the entire workpiece with paint yellow color;
  • when it dries, we apply orange paint to the zones closer to the edges of the sheet;
  • when it dries, smooth the border of the junction of colors with sandpaper;
  • put on the edges of the leaf terracotta shade;
  • again smooth the border;
  • brown paint draw veins;
  • the product is covered with a layer of varnish.

The decor of flowers with color transitions is made according to the same principle.
