Fire, metal and meat: we make a brazier with our own hands. We cook the brazier with our own hands Iron brazier with our own hands

A real picnic in nature is most often associated with gatherings around the fire and barbecue. It is the process of cooking meat on coals that gives the rest with friends sincerity and solemnity of the moment. Most often, men are involved in the action, claiming that "barbecue female hands does not tolerate." Let's not challenge their right to cook meat, which has come from the most ancient times.

The birth of fragrant pieces in the smoke is a kind of sacrament that can melt the heart of any impregnable beauty, and if the barbecue is also made by hand, then the barbecue becomes a real culinary masterpiece.

Delicious barbecue. Success factors

The success of a do-it-yourself barbecue on the grill depends on several factors:

Properly marinated meat. No need to get carried away with ultra-modern recipes using mayonnaise, fermented milk products and sauces. A classic kebab is wine or vinegar, onions, parsley and spices. And other marinades are only good for the most tender and soft pieces.

The organic acids found in vinegar and parsley are best for successfully denaturing meat. In this case, denaturation means the breakdown of protein molecules to a state that is most suitable for digestion by our body. In addition, the acidic environment prevents the fire from creating harmful carcinogenic compounds in food.

Pieces of meat for barbecue, which is planned to be cooked on the grill with your own hands, should be cubes with sides of at least 4-5 cm. This will allow them not to dry out, be juicy and soft.

"The right brazier", made with your own hands. The dimensions of the device must allow the skewers to be laid with sufficient clearances.

As a rule, the length of the brazier is taken equal to the length skewers minus 10-15 cm. The width can be calculated from the condition that one skewer should have at least 80 mm of space. The distance to the coals should be no more than 100 mm, and the depth of the fire should be up to 200-250 mm, with slots for skewers along its long side.

Wall thickness- the bigger, the better. And you don’t need to clean off the soot from their inner surface, this is a source of infrared rays, without which you will simply get meat baked on fire. In order for the kebab to be not only a tasty, but also a healthy dish, the air inlets for the hand-made barbecue should be exactly at the bottom, as on numerous photos of devices that specialized sites are filled with.

When air passes through the coals from the bottom up, all the oxygen will burn out in it and it will be possible to avoid the harmful oxidation of food enzymes. With the lateral location of the blowing holes, oxygen will remain in the outgoing stream, which means that the barbecue will not be so healthy.

"Aromatic" coals. Analyze the home video archive of eating shish kebab cooked on the grill with your own hands. You notice that the widest smiles of those present are present precisely during the tasting of dishes cooked on wood from fruit trees? The validity of this joke can hardly be overestimated - firewood from cherries, apricots, apple trees, pears, etc. give the dish a unique taste and aroma.

Let's start making the grill. On the network you can find drawings and photos necessary to make any type of barbecue with your own hands - from simple metal to brick or stone. Consider all the designs, gradually moving from the simplest - from sheet metal, to more complex ones, such as a do-it-yourself barbecue smokehouse or a stone barbecue oven.

Advantages of metal structures

The most important advantage of barbecues made of metal is their cheapness . Even if you buy the metal sheet, angles, rods and pipes needed for the job, the cost of materials will be much lower. finished product from the store. And if we take into account that unnecessary metal trash in the form of barrels, cylinders, pieces of sheet metal and trimmings of corners will fit into such a design, then the price of the finished product will approach zero.

The second indisputable advantage - ease of manufacture . Any person who knows a little about welding will be able to repeat the most complex structure. Thirdly, such barbecues can be easily installed in a new place or taken with you on a picnic. Fourth - a sufficient thickness of sheet metal will allow the barbecue to serve long time. And the fifth is the pleasure of the result. Having created a real masterpiece from scrap metal, you can proudly remember it at every opportunity.

Braziers with insufficient wall thickness suffer from disadvantages - they quickly burn out, they can lead when overheated, and they can rust from rain and moisture.

Do-it-yourself sheet metal brazier

A brazier made of metal with your own hands will serve you faithfully for many years only if the thickness of the sheet is sufficient and the metal can withstand high temperatures without the risk of burning out. In addition, a product with a thickness of 4-5 mm will never lead, which often affects structures welded from roofing sheets. Most often, a device with a wall thickness of 1-2 mm is needed for field trips. Its weight is much less, and a self-made brazier of a collapsible design, the drawings of which are available on the network, is also more convenient to transport.

Before starting work, you need to stock up on a sufficient amount of sheet metal 2-4 mm thick, a corner with a shelf width of 40 mm or more, a welding machine and an angle grinder, an electric drill with drills, a ruler, a marker and a construction square. For the manufacture of legs, it is necessary to prepare a pipe or a square with a cross section of 400 mm 2 or more. Do-it-yourself work on the manufacture of a stationary brazier from sheet metal is performed in the following sequence:

  • The drawing is transferred to a metal sheet and blanks are cut out with the help of a grinder. In the case of using a material with a thickness of 2 mm, a drawing is applied in the form of a sweep, and then the workpiece is bent at a right angle along the line where the side walls adjoin the bottom.

We measure We cut out the required format We clean the edges of the sheet for the bottom Again measurements We bend the sheets and grab

  • With the help of a square, the side walls are seized by welding perpendicular to the bottom, and then the seams are welded along the entire junction line.

Welding is required to fix the sheets. We take welding machine We weld the joints Welding We clean the seams

  • With a drill with a diameter of at least 12 mm, holes are drilled for air inflow in the lower part of the side walls or the bottom, depending on which drawings you use when making a brazier with your own hands. If the air flow is carried out through the bottom, then an additional lower ash box should be provided.
  • In long walls, cuts should be made for skewers. It is best to alternately cut grooves 3-5 cm long and 6-8 cm long. This will allow you to set the required height of the skewers above the coals.

Pour water, pour firewood Water from 10 degrees to a boil in 20 minutes Testing a homemade barbecue

  • The next step will require you to study the photo of the braziers on the network or design your own frame into which the brazier assembled by yourself will be installed. Such a frame is mounted from a metal corner and a profile using welded or bolted connections. Its design should provide shelves for dishes, firewood and appliances.
  • If it is planned to make a brazier with your own hands from metal of small thickness for field trips, the frame drawings can be put aside. You won't need it. It is better to weld short (up to 8 cm) pieces of a metal pipe with a diameter of up to 25 mm at the corners of the bottom, into which segments of a rod or pipes of a smaller (up to 20 mm) diameter will be inserted as legs. Their length is selected based on their needs.
  • Metal bar handles should be welded to the top of the short walls of the brazier for ease of carrying.
  • A roof installed over the barbecue will be able to protect the hearth from snow and rain. It is not difficult to make it at all, it is enough to provide side racks and a couple of ceilings on which roofing iron is laid required size.
  • Do not forget to decorate your work with various forged decorative elements that can be purchased from the distribution network. Next, the product and the frame are cleaned with a metal brush and painted with heat-resistant paint. After it dries, the manufacture of a brazier made of metal with their own hands is considered complete and they begin to test fry the barbecue.

In the process of work, you can correct the drawings and make a brazier with your own hands that best meets your technological and aesthetic requirements.

Collapsible brazier made of metal

If you do not want to transport an overall all-metal box, then look at a collapsible structure or a brazier scheme for making it yourself. Such products are compact, easy to repeat and quite durable. In addition, you can assemble a portable device in minutes. Your attention is presented with drawings and detailed diagrams that will help you assemble the brazier with your own hands. Step-by-step instructions and photos of the assembly process will help you delve into the smallest details.

For work, you will need the same materials and tools as for the manufacture of a welded one-piece structure. Additionally, you need to stock up on a jigsaw and reinforced scissors for working on metal, as well as a set of dies and fasteners. Ready to make a collapsible brazier with your own hands? Step-by-step instructions will help you not to lose sight of anything. Determine the required dimensions of the product, taking into account the dimensions of the trunk of your car. We offer the best option suitable in most cases:

  • Width - 300 mm;
  • Length - 600 mm (calculated for 6 servings, if necessary, can be increased at the rate of 100 mm per skewer);
  • The height of the walls is 150 mm, taking into account the distance of 20 mm under the grate;
  • The height of the supporting legs is 600 mm (it is better if the length of the legs matches the width of the brazier, because we need a compact design).

As a rule, any do-it-yourself collapsible brazier, the video of which can be found on the net, has the following elements:

  • Frame from a metal corner;
  • Bottom;
  • Longitudinal and lateral sides;
  • Grate;
  • Fasteners.

  1. To make a frame from the corners, weld a rectangle of the required size (if we take our barbecue dimensions as a basis, you should weld a frame 230 mm wide and 570 mm long with your own hands). At the corners of the structure, weld 50 mm pieces water pipe with an outer dimension of 17 mm. In the future, they will be inserted into the support legs.
  2. For the legs, four pipes with an internal diameter of 18-20 mm are needed. We have already discussed the length of the supports. Plugs can be installed on the other side of the pipes that will be stuck into the ground.
  3. From sheet metal cut out the bottom and side structural elements, cut grooves in them and drill the necessary holes.
  4. In accordance with the scheme of the brazier, intended for making with your own hands, attach the bottom to the frame with bolts. To do this, drill through holes in them, laying a frame of corners on the base of the barbecue.
  5. As grates, you can use a grate welded from a bar or reinforcement with a diameter of 8-10 mm. Along the edges of the grate, weld legs 15-20 mm long from the same material.
  6. We fasten the sides on four rods (knitting needles). To do this, we cut threads for wing nuts at their ends and weld the rods to the upper and lower sides of the short walls. If welding is not possible, fasten the spokes to the sidewalls with horseshoe bolts.
  7. Tip: install all bolts from the side of the hearth. This will help keep their threads from sintering.
  8. To assemble such a brazier with your own hands, step-by-step instructions are not needed - the process itself is very simple. It is enough to fix the bottom on the legs, and then get the peeking ends of the spokes into the slots on the long sidewalls and tighten them with wing nuts. After attaching the assembled sidewalls to the base and installing the brazier inside the grate, the brazier can be considered assembled with your own hands. A photo near this grandiose structure will serve as proof of your skill in social networks.

Do-it-yourself barbecue from a barrel or gas cylinder

A metal barrel or a propane tank are excellent objects for making a stationary brazier. There can be several manufacturing options for such a design - both with a hinged lid and without it. If you decide to build a brazier from a cylinder or a barrel with your own hands, then we can advise you to start working with a detailed drawing. To help you, we will provide detailed diagram device to which you can make the necessary adjustments.

We will not write about the tool necessary for work - you already know what you need to stock up on. Of the materials, you will need all the same pipes, rods and corners in an amount that determines the size of the barrel or cylinder and the design you have chosen.

A grinder will help you start making a brazier from a cylinder with your own hands. With its help, the container is cut to half the height, length, or a sector is cut off from its sidewall. In the future, it will serve as a cover for the future barbecue.

Further work is performed in the following sequence:

  1. A stand is made by bending a pipe in a semicircle and welding legs to it. If it is not possible to bend the pipe, two corners are welded at an angle to each other, and supports are welded to their edges. The result should be two structures in the form of the letter M. Between themselves, these elements can be connected with a welded grate made of a metal bar, which will subsequently serve as a shelf for firewood and appliances.
  1. Half of the barrel is placed on a stand and welded.
  2. The cut is ennobled with the help of a metal corner - it will not only carry an aesthetic load, but will also give additional convenience when laying skewers.
  3. If the brazier that you assemble with your own hands is planned to be used for grilling, then racks are welded on the sides of the stand or barrel for its installation (for a more complete understanding, see photos of such devices). For barbecue to inside cylinder (barrel) weld brackets for installing the grate.

Brackets for laying the grid - Photo 53

  1. In the lower part of the side walls, holes with a diameter of 12 - 15 mm are drilled in a checkerboard pattern for air flow.
  2. It is possible that the barrel will be mounted on a stand in such a way that its front cut will be much lower than the back. In this case, the high back wall will protect the hearth from the wind. In this case, you don’t have to ennoble the cut with a corner - it will be enough to clean the edges well with a grinder. A horizontal grill installed along the front cut line will serve for barbecue, and in order to cook barbecue, on a high back wall you will have to weld a shelf for installing skewers with a width of at least 5 cm.

Laying metal grating— Photo 55

  1. Mounting the cover, as a rule, does not cause difficulties. It is attached to the barrel by means of a pair of strong loops. The processed edge of the cover will add accuracy to the whole structure.
  2. A barrel with a lid can also work as a smokehouse. To do this, a chimney is attached to its side part. You can pre-orient the barrel so that the pipe is connected to the filler neck of the container.

Ennoble the brazier from the cylinder will help decorative elements in the form of curls, flowers and leaves, made by hand or purchased on the construction market. The magical look of the device will be given by the roof and antique metal wheels, which can also help with its transportation. In a word, you have unlimited scope for creativity.

Tip: if you decide to make a brazier from a gas cylinder with your own hands, weld a couple of corners with a shelf of 50 - 80 mm along the entire length of its bottom. They will allow the coals to be more evenly distributed over the surface of its bottom, without gathering too thick a layer in the central part.

Finishing of metal products

After finishing work, the metal grill must be cleaned of rust with a metal brush, which is mounted on a drill or grinder. Welded joints are cleaned with an emery wheel of an angle grinder.

Further, the outer surfaces of the barbecue are degreased and painted with heat-resistant paints and varnishes. Leaves and swirls can be ennobled with patina, giving them the look of antique pieces. The interior of the product does not need to be painted. Also, it is not necessary to clean this side from soot that appears during the operation of the device. It is believed that it has a positive effect on the quality of cooked products.

DIY brick barbecues

A do-it-yourself stationary brick brazier is good for its solidity - its thick walls keep heat for a long time and allow you to cook a wonderful shish kebab or barbecue with your own hands without the risk of burning tender meat. The designs of brick barbecues sometimes represent a single whole with a gazebo and a patio, being, in fact, a whole complex that complements the overall style. garden plot. Having built such a brick brazier with your own hands, you can cook not only barbecue, but also cook fish soup, shurpa, pilaf, as well as smoke poultry or fish.

Their only drawback stems from the solidity of brick braziers - they take permanent place. They cannot be moved or hidden in a far corner. That is why it is necessary to carefully approach the choice of a secluded place, having decided to install a street barbecue with your own hands.

Getting Started

Like any capital structure, a garden barbecue requires a foundation. The foundation is best suited for building a brick brazier with your own hands. belt type with a pit depth of up to 0.6 m. The pit is packed with large rubble or stone, and poured sand-cement mortar. A foundation of rubble stone, up to 0.3 m high, is laid above the soil surface. best material for such a fireplace is a natural stone or red kiln brick. Stone laying is quite laborious and requires a lot of experience. It is quite possible to build a brick brazier with your own hands, the main thing is to do the work carefully and without haste.

Before starting construction, consider the design of such a brazier. As a rule, all of them are a firebox with a low chimney. A grate is installed inside the furnace, under which there is an ash pan chamber (one or more), closed by a blower. Under the ash pans, they equip a niche designed to store firewood.

Are you interested in do-it-yourself brick barbecues? Step-by-step instructions will help you fully understand all the nuances of such structures.

To build a small brick barbecue you will need: 400-450 pcs. bricks, clay, river sand, a pair of grates, a copper hood for an exhaust hood, a corner 30x40 mm and 40x40 mm, latches or ash pan doors.

  1. Choose a place for the stove - in an open space or under a gazebo canopy. This depends on the composition of the solution. For the first option, heat-resistant cement will be needed, and for the second, a clay solution will do.
  2. Set up the foundation.

  1. Lay out a niche measuring 0.75x0.5x0.5 m. Lay a row of bricks over this niche (spoon laying). Here, use the support from the stored metal corners. Install an equal-shelf corner in the back of the row (in the 8th row of masonry), and 30x40 in the front, making cuts in the front brick of the 9th row under the corner shelf.

The second row is needed to eliminate overheating of the roofing material. We form the volume of the furnace on the 3rd row

  1. The tenth and eleventh rows form ash pans-blowers measuring 0.12x0.25 m. Doors or valves are also installed here to regulate the air flow. A quarter is cut off for the installation of a grate in the 11th row of bricks.

The original used this oven door oven door We fix the wire for fastening the door

  1. In the twelfth or thirteenth row, we equip a ledge for skewers.
  2. The laying of the firebox continues until the 21st row. Then it is covered in the same way as a niche under the ash pan, only the laying is carried out in half a brick - a bonder.

A platform for laying the firebox We lay out the hearth of the firebox We put a grate We erect the walls of the firebox We cover the woodshed with a sheet of metal

  1. From the 24th row, the masonry begins to narrow with ledges. From the sides, each row is reduced by 35 mm, and in front - by 17 mm. The rear wall of the smoke box is laid out perpendicular to the base.
  2. The last row of brick barbecue will be the 33rd, with a do-it-yourself copper exhaust hood. A photo of this design will help you figure out how to do it.

We form 6 smoke outlets from the furnace. Then we block the firebox. We will lay the flooring on top. We will lay the thermal insulation and the cooking floor on top of the firebox. Laying the chimney. Mangal is ready!

The presented drawings of brick barbecues will help you build the most suitable design with your own hands. A photo of such buildings will help to appreciate their design and magnificence.

However, it is not enough to build a brick brazier with your own hands. We still need to install a chimney.

Requirements for chimneys and hoods

In order for the barbecue grill, built by one's own hands, not to smoke the gazebo with smoke, hot gases are removed through the chimney. A special smoke hood is designed to collect smoke, which must exceed the dimensions metal grill not less than 30 cm in each direction. From the lower section of the cap to the upper section of the chimney should be at least 80 cm. If you make a cap with an adjustable suspension, then you can adjust the thickness of the smoke cover above the skewers. Such a barbecue will be much more flavorful.

Do-it-yourself brick braziers should not have any smoke turns and smoke teeth. It is necessary to equip only direct smoke channels with a built-in view to adjust the draft. Otherwise, carelessness in handling the oven may result in waste.

The presented gallery of barbecues, equipped in summer cottages, will allow you to fully experience the beauty of technical and design solutions, feel the aroma of a barbecue, plunge into the atmosphere of warmth and harmony, imagine yourself in the circle of your closest and beloved people. And, perhaps, you will be so interested in how to make a brazier that you will stock up on a tool and start creating magic with your own hands.

shish kebab on fresh air, what vacation could be more desirable? If you often travel with loved ones or gather in the yard to fry meat, vegetables or even simple sausages, then you have already thought about how to build a barbecue with your own hands from metal. What sizes and model to choose, how to weld and how to paint the brazier? Today we decided to discuss the key points of this necessary case in more detail.

Portable barbecues made of metal: what are they good for

Popular with modern picnic lovers on the street and barbecue grills made of bricks, wild stone and even ceramics. But the main demanded material for the manufacture of barbecue is metal. Why are our people so fond of metal barbecues?

A neat forged brazier looks elegant and light. This compact outdoor BBQ maker provides for everything down to the smallest detail. She will not only give you a lot delicious meals but also decorate garden landscape

Very functional and beautiful barbecue provides for the preparation of any dishes everything you need: a brazier with a spit, a convenient firewood rack and even a small wooden table. Most interesting solution designer - two wheels on one side, and a handle on the other. It turns out the brazier is not only decorative, but also easily transported from place to place.

This forged brazier with a bronze sheen in English style- a real work of art. All the little things and nuances are provided in this chic barbecue. Such a brazier is a rich decoration of the yard or garden

It's all about their indisputable advantages:

  • The metal brazier is easy to clean, transport, fold and disassemble if necessary;
  • It is safe and convenient to use a metal grill;
  • An iron barbecue grill is easy to weld on your own;
  • The metal holds heat well, so the meat cooks evenly and quickly;
  • The cost of a metal barbecue with your own hands is acceptable for any family.

Iron braziers began to be used everywhere, and in the sale of any store garden tools definitely exist. However, it is much more pleasant and cheaper to weld a metal barbecue grill on your own. If a welding technology you don’t have, you can make a brazier, fastened with bolts.

How easy it is to make a metal barbecue grill

To create a metal brazier, it is better to use steel sheets, a perforator, metal mesh and welding machine. In the absence of the latter, you can get by with tie bolts. The brazier itself is an iron box with legs made from a corner of a metal, steel bar or a hollow iron pipe. Let's try to describe the process of creating a metal barbecue for beginner barbecues.

Step # 1 - preparing the circuit and everything you need

Everyone, even a beginner, master knows that first we need a plan. In our case, this plan is a diagram-drawing of the future metal barbecue. Describe in as much detail as possible graphically all the details of your barbecue, not forgetting to accurately reflect the dimensions of the metal barbecue in numbers. It is convenient to make a brazier with a height of 80-100 cm, with a brazier size of 80x40 cm.

A convenient portable barbecue can be welded independently according to this scheme. In the presence of welding equipment, this work will be mastered by both a beginner and an “experienced” barbecue

You can make a functional and stable metal barbecue grill yourself and without welding. To do this, make parts according to this scheme and tighten them with bolts

In addition to the drawing, immediately prepare tools and material for metal parts. It is better not to choose too thick steel sheets for work, otherwise the brazier will be unbearable. The optimal thickness of the metal should be 4-10 mm.

Step # 2 - preparing parts for the barbecue

We propose to prepare such components for mounting a home brazier with a height of 85 cm:

  • For support: 4 metal legs from a pipe with a diameter of 25 mm, or a steel corner. The length of each leg is 65 cm. We also prepare 2 corners or pipes 20 mm (longitudinal connection) for a strong connection between the legs. The length of the longitudinal connection is 76.5 cm.
  • For the roaster: cut out two longitudinal walls 20x77 cm from a metal sheet; two transverse walls 20x39 cm; steel mesh 77x39 cm; we prepare two transverse pipes for the bottom of the brazier 39 cm long and several heat-resistant bricks; two metal handles for easy portability. The grid, bricks and crossbars for the bottom can be replaced with a solid sheet of metal 77x39 cm. Additionally, for the brazier, you can make a lid from steel sheet in size with inwardly curved longitudinal edges.

Step # 3 - welding the barbecue

It remains to weld all the prepared parts using special equipment or tighten them with bolts. Separately, we weld the brazier from the walls and the bottom in the form of a grid with crossbars or sheet iron. The legs are welded to the base of the brazier and strengthened with a longitudinal connection. We fasten the longitudinal connection at a height of 15 cm from the floor. The connection between the legs can be used to store firewood.

The simplest and most effective brazier can be welded with your own hands using parts cut from a metal sheet. Two bent iron pipes can be used for legs

It is very convenient to have such a collapsible brazier made of metal in your barbecue arsenal. It is easy to clean, easy to assemble, disassemble and store

The bottom of the brazier, if you decide to make it from a grid, lay out a fireclay oven brick. Holes for oxygen should be drilled in the longitudinal walls so that the air helps to ignite the firewood. It is enough to make 5 holes at a distance of 10 cm on both sides of the barbecue. We attach handles made of 10 mm thick wire to the transverse walls of the brazier so that the barbecue can be easily moved.

How to paint a metal grill?

Do I need to paint a metal grill and the best way to do it, let's figure it out. It is not advisable to apply paints and other chemical coatings on the grill, because the meat can absorb harmful chemicals. But today there are modern tools for painting the barbecue, which are safe for the dishes cooked in it. Another problem is that the temperature in the brazier is so high that any layer of coating can simply burn out.

You can use the following heat-resistant coatings for barbecue:

  • Silicone enamels(withstand temperatures up to 600);
  • Powder thermal paints very good for barbecue, but difficult to use on their own, as they require firing when high temperature;
  • Oxidation. This process is not easy, but possible at home. The barbecue bowl must be treated with 5% sulfuric acid, boiled in a saturated solution of laundry soap and boiled for an hour and a half in a solution of sodium hydroxide. The brazier is covered with black non-stick layer which protects the metal from corrosion and rust.

Many consider barbecue the most desirable and delicious food. Cherry firewood, marinated pork, and a brazier made by skillful master's hands are the "blue" dream of an experienced gourmet. Make your dream come true and make a new spectacular brazier with your own hands from metal. We wish you good luck and delicious results!

Many do not imagine good rest in nature without fragrant shish kebab. Craftsmen can make a brazier out of bricks with their own hands. It is simply necessary for the exit session.

Going to nature, you can build a compact design from improvised materials. And for a summer residence, a gazebo equipped with a barbecue is more suitable.

Where to start building?

Think about where you want to build a barbecue. It is better to choose a recreation area for this.

Care must be taken to provide protection from the weather. Homemade hearth can be installed in country gazebo, under a canopy or in a partially open veranda.

Masters often take up a decision challenging task how to make a brazier in the form of a multifunctional oven.

Indicators of medium sizes: width - 1.6 m; height - 1.6 m; depth - 0.8 m. For a multifunctional furnace, it is required to make a base, an example of which is a strip foundation.

The master usually supplements a complex design with various functional add-ons:

  • Niches. They are convenient to use to store skewers and other utensils.
  • Notches. Firewood is piled in them so that they dry near the hearth.
  • Sink. It is installed when there is a real opportunity to bring communications. It is convenient to wash hands or dishes in it.

A table with benches is placed near the hearth. The owner is free to choose furniture from budget or expensive options depending on their financial capabilities and taste preferences.

Brazier drawings will help to correctly create a project. After all, it is necessary to take into account not only technical side question, but also the aesthetic component.

If you look at the photo of the brazier, then it should be central element compositions. It is important that all surrounding objects are combined.

Construction of a brazier from a brick

The design involves the construction of a solid foundation. It is made from sand, gravel, cement and refractory bricks. Except building tools the master will need a drill with a special nozzle or a concrete mixer to prepare the solution.

It is necessary to prepare reinforcing bars with a reinforcing mesh, as well as metal corners with hardware. The master prepares the material in advance to create the crate.

Phased construction

Mark the construction site and carry out the markup. After that, a pit is created with a width of 0.6 m and a length of 1.6 m.

The top layer of soil is removed to a depth of 0.6 m.

Make a pillow out of sand. Its thickness should not be less than 10 cm. The pillow must be carefully tamped. Formwork is placed around the perimeter of the pit.

The next step is knitting reinforcement. Metal bars are interconnected in the form of a lattice and lowered to the bottom of the pit.

Note!

Make a cement mortar and pour it into the formwork. It must be pierced with a metal rod so that no air remains inside.

For cooking cement mixture grade 150 and 200 are suitable. Crushed stone with sand is also added to the solution. The proportional ratio of cement, sand and gravel is 1:3:5. The solution will also need water - 1 or 2 buckets, depending on how wet the sand is.

The compacted mortar is smoothed and leveled. Under the bricks you need to make an even base.

For waterproofing, roofing material and special mastics are used.

As soon as the foundation hardens, you can start laying.

Nuances that the master should be aware of

Furnace brick has excellent fire resistance, but in the cold it can become brittle. Therefore, a gazebo with a brick barbecue is the best option.

Note!

Before starting construction work, the material is soaked in water. Bricks are able to absorb liquid, which can adversely affect the performance of the solution.

The mixture itself is prepared from other components and differs in consistency. It is made from cement, sand and slaked lime in a ratio of 1:3:1.

Laying starts from the corners. Length rear wall is 3 bricks, and on the sides 2.5 bricks. The width must be at least 1.5 bricks. In the process of laying, the master gently taps the surface of the brick with a mallet in order to fit it closely to the next one.

metal structure

A metal brazier can be made by a craftsman who knows how to handle a welding machine. The master will need sheet metal, metal corners or pieces of reinforcement, a pallet with a grate of the same dimensions and a marker with a tape measure.

The design is a deep brazier on legs-supports. If desired, the owner can supply the grill with a smokehouse, then the household will always have the opportunity to enjoy the delicacies of natural smoking.

Note!

Experienced craftsmen can try their hand at making homemade barbecue. From two connected cylinders, they create a brazier-smokehouse. The master will need the ability to work with a grinder and a drill.

The chimney is made of a pipe, and the stands, handles and legs are made of metal. It is necessary to prepare hinges, nuts with bolts, special enamel and a wick. The brazier from the balloon can be decorated at your discretion.

The main thing in this business is creativity.

Country rest in the country or by the river under a charming smoky aroma fresh meat or freshly caught fish roasted on convenient grill, is very popular among the people. Without exaggeration, we can state that even its own original subculture and traditions have developed around this way of spending time.

Of course, all the appetizing charm of a barbecue is impossible without fire and a traditional metal fryer. And while new meetings with friends are only planned, it’s worth learning better how to cook a brazier with your own hands. Otherwise, if you do it wrong, you can spoil the whole holiday of a pleasant feast.

But first, you should understand for yourself a number of clear rules, thanks to which you can ensure high quality work, and the task of cooking the barbecue itself will not seem too difficult.

Do-it-yourself barbecue: some general rules

The huge popularity of barbecue feasts and the long history of this type of culinary art made it not only universal way recreation, but also the object of real creativity. Over the years, a metal barbecue has become much more complicated, in its equipment, initially as simple and functional as possible, many very useful “options” have appeared - all kinds of fireboxes for heating meat and fish, cavities for drying firewood, shelves for spices, etc.

However, all this is just a pleasant addition to the main thing. The main thing in this device is its design, based on generally accepted principles, time-tested. Some of them need to get to know each other better.

When planning to make a brazier with their own hands, the customer will have to decide on the answer to two main questions - how many people the brazier will have to feed and how long the future owner of the metal brazier expects.

The dimensions of the device being made depend on how many participants in the feast will prepare a dish with smoke. Usually, a 60x30 cm barbecue is enough for an average family of 3-4 people. The indicated width, which seems to be a universal value for braziers in a variety of designs, is determined by the fact that, as a rule, up to 8 pieces of meat are placed on one skewer.

But its length can be very different. If, for example, it is assumed that rather large groups will regularly gather at the table to taste barbecue, then in this case it will be necessary to calculate the dimensions individually, taking into account the possible load.

In particular, it is necessary to calculate the total number of skewers that will be involved in cooking fried meat, and mark the sheet of metal in such a way that there is a distance of 10 cm between adjacent skewers. In this case, the walls of the brazier should recede from the extreme skewers by at least 5 cm. metal blank one meter long.

As for the depth of the barbecue, experienced craftsmen recommend making it about 150 mm. This value makes it possible to establish the optimal clearance between skewers with meat and hot coals.

To determine the same comfortable height the whole structure, you can take a skewer and bend your arm at the elbow at a right angle. The level of the bent elbow will become the level at which it will be convenient to place a row of skewers. From this it is necessary to build on when calculating the height of the legs.

The second most important factor - the service life - directly depends on the material from which the brazier is made.

The rule here is simple - the thicker the metal, the longer it will last. But in any case, you should not take sheets thinner than 1 mm for processing.

Materials and tools necessary for welding the brazier

To make a high-quality brazier from metal, you will need the following tools and materials:

  • metal sheet (steel, cast iron) of sufficient size;
  • metal corners (for legs);
  • welding machine;
  • a set of electrodes;
  • electric drill;
  • drills of various diameters;
  • grinder with discs for cutting metal;
  • jigsaw;
  • measuring and marking devices (ruler, square, measuring tape).

With their help, you can safely engage in the manufacture of one of the two most popular types of braziers - a traditional brazier or a brazier from a barrel.

Do-it-yourself brazier from a solid metal sheet

A summer device for frying meat or fish can be both stationary and portable (collapsible). But welding is used, as a rule, when it is required to assemble a stationary version. Otherwise, the connection of individual parts of the brazier with each other is carried out by means of special joints or bolts (screws).

Start creating welded brazier necessary from cutting the metal sheet in accordance with the original drawing. As a result, 5 rectangular fragments should come out - the bottom, 2 short and 2 long sidewalls.

Further, be sure to drill several holes in a row in the lower part of the long sidewalls. In the future barbecue, they will provide air flow to hot coals, without which it is impossible to maintain a good heat. It is recommended to drill holes so that there is a distance of about 50 mm between them. In this case, the extreme holes must be marked at a distance of 20 mm from the edge of the sidewall.

The side parts of the non-separable brazier are attached by electric welding.

The next step is to make small incisions on the upper edges of the long sidewalls with a hacksaw or a grinder. They are recommended to be done simultaneously on both parts, attaching the sidewalls to each other. In this way, you can easily achieve complete alignment of the incisions, which in the future will serve as grooves for fixing the skewers during frying products.

After all these preparatory operations, the previously cut elements are welded. All sidewalls - the width and length of the barbecue - are welded to each other and to the bottom. Legs from the corners are welded to the finished box, and this can be done in one of two ways - by welding them along the corners of the box or at the end of the bottom of the barbecue. By the way, it is advisable to pre-cut the lower parts of the legs in such a way that they turn out to be pointed - this way, they will more easily enter the ground, ensuring excellent stability of the entire structure.

There is another option for welding a non-separable brazier, which, nevertheless, will be somewhat more “mobile” in comparison with that described above. It uses metal rods as legs instead of corners. A thread is cut at their ends, and 4 identical nuts are welded to the bottom of the brazier. The legs of the rods are screwed into the nuts. Thanks to this installation, it becomes possible to disconnect the legs from the brazier and transport the barbecue in the trunk of a car.

How to make a brazier with your own hands from a barrel?

The brazier can be made more massive. For example, from a metal barrel (of course, in which no substances harmful to human health or fuels and lubricants were previously stored). With this option, the brazier gets a tight-fitting lid, which provides faster and more even roasting of meat or fish.

But before working directly with the barrel, you should make a frame that will serve as the base-saddle for the barbecue of such an unusual shape. It is made from corners welded to each other with a shelf width of at least 45 mm. The size of the rectangular frame should be equal to or slightly smaller than the size of the drum so that the drum can be securely fixed in the frame. 4 legs of equal length are welded to the corners of the frame.

Then a segment of arbitrary size and shape is cut out of the barrel with an electric jigsaw. The future lid of the structure may, for example, be a whole half of the entire barrel, but it can also be cut out from the side of the container. The remaining sections are cleaned with sandpaper.

In order to be able to open the lid, the main part of the barrel and its lid are connected by welding door hinges. A metal handle is also attached to the lid. In addition, skewers holders must be welded inside the barrel. They can serve as all the same corners.

When making a large stationary brazier from a barrel, you need to pay attention to one important nuance. Available in the tank factory drainer subsequently will play the role of a small pipe for the hood. Therefore, with the correct installation of the frying chamber, it should be in the upper back of the barbecue (cover).

For the convenience of moving the brazier-barrel around the yard or summer cottage small wheels can be welded to its legs, and a special handle can be welded to the frame. At the final stage, all finished structure it is recommended to paint with heat-resistant paint.

Thus, to make a quality brazier with your own hands, it is enough to have skillful hands, a good tool, a carefully crafted scheme and a great desire to make your outdoor recreation pleasant and useful, filled with friendly communication and the aroma of mouth-watering fried delicacies.

Everyone's favorite summer dish is barbecue. These juicy pieces with a crispy crust and an appetizing “smoke” flavor are prepared by stringing pre-marinated meat on sharp rods - skewers, frying on hot coals laid on the bottom of the grill. The design of the brazier itself is usually a metal box on legs with perforations for air circulation and small recesses on the walls for the convenience of laying skewers.

Types of metal barbecues

Based on the dimensions of the barbecue are divided into:

  • stationary;
  • portable.

Stationary barbecues equip in suburban areas. Often they are made with forging elements, trimmed with stone or installed on a brick base. This adds to the appearance of aesthetics and exclusivity. If the brazier is equipped with a canopy or installed in a gazebo, then it is possible to cook kebabs and other dishes on it in almost any weather.

Used in hiking, when going out into nature. They differ small size and weight. Often such barbecues are folded into a metal suitcase.

Most simple model portable barbecue consists of two metal frames on which skewers are placed. The disadvantage of small portable barbecues is the inability to cook at the same time a large number of servings of barbecue.

More complex, but also heavier models can be supplemented with a small pull-out table, grates, and adjustable airflow. But such advanced options have an impressive weight, so it is much more comfortable to transport them in a private car than to carry them manually.

If we classify the braziers according to the thickness of the metal from which they are made, then the braziers are divided into:

  1. - thin-walled;
  2. - thick-walled.

thin-walled usually make portable barbecues. Steel of small thickness makes it possible to lighten the models, but the durability of the structure suffers. In thin-walled barbecues, only ready-made coals purchased in stores or prepared in advance on a fire can be used. If you cook coals directly in the metal box of the structure, the steel will quickly burn out and the brazier will become unusable.

thick-walled usually make stationary models. For this, steel with a thickness of more than four millimeters is used. Such options are significantly more expensive, but the service life is much longer than that of barbecues with thin walls.

A standard brazier has a rectangular cross section, however, you can make a device for frying barbecue with your own hands from a gas cylinder or an old barrel. But the use of a container for fuels and lubricants is not recommended. The main thing is that the thickness of the metal is sufficient for the possibility of long-term use of the structure.

In addition to the barrel itself, you will need: a welding machine, grinder, drill, metal corners.

1. We make markings and cut off the upper half of the barrel with a grinder, leaving the ends in place. We will subsequently make a cover from the cut off part.

2. We make legs for the barbecue from metal corners. We cut the corners into four identical parts and weld them to the end of the barrel.

3. We measure the length of the barrel and cut off two corners equal to this length. They will serve as a support for skewers. We make cuts on the corners every 4-6 centimeters (guides for skewers) and weld them onto the inside of the barrel.

4. Metal hinges and two handles must be welded to the lid. This will protect the brazier and coals in case of rain.

Do-it-yourself non-separable metal grill

A collapsible brazier consists of: four legs, the same number of rectangular walls with perforation and a bottom.

Before starting work, we carry out a drawing and prepare materials.

Necessary materials:

  1. steel sheet;
  2. metal corners or rods with nuts, from which we will make barbecue legs;
  3. welding machine and electrodes;
  4. drill;
  5. grinder with cutting wheels or a hacksaw.

It is more convenient to make a drawing of the future barbecue on sheets in a cage. Be sure to indicate the length of the legs, the dimensions of the brazier itself, indicate the distance between the perforations on the walls and the guide chamfers for the skewers. The optimal number of chamfers is 8 pieces. The distance between the holes for ventilation of the bottom should be chosen from 7 to 10 cm, it is better to place them at a height of 5-10 cm from the bottom of the barbecue. The length of the legs is chosen individually.

Work order:

  1. On the sheet metal we mark the walls and bottom of the brazier. We take the thickness of the metal 1.5-2 mm, but it can be thicker, this will increase the service life and ensure optimal heating of coals and food.
  2. By marking, we cut the metal with a grinder or a hacksaw for metal.
  3. We drill perforations on the walls.
  4. With a grinder or a hacksaw, we make cuts on the upper edges of the walls of the barbecue.
  5. By welding we connect the bottom and walls of the brazier.
  6. To make legs, metal corners are sharpened at one end, cutting off part of the metal at an angle. This is necessary so that the brazier enters the ground more easily.
  7. By welding we connect the corners and the metal box.

If the legs are made of metal rods, then 4 identical nuts are welded to the corners of the bottom of the brazier, the rods are divided into four parts, each of which is threaded. Thus, a brazier with collapsible legs is obtained, which can be unscrewed if necessary.

Another option for collapsible legs is metal corners with holes for bolts, with which they can be screwed to the barbecue box, and after use, unscrew and fold. But for this you have to wait for the metal to cool after cooking.

If the legs are long enough, it is advisable to connect them in pairs with metal jumpers to strengthen the structure.

Do-it-yourself collapsible metal grill

To make a fully collapsible metal brazier, a welding machine is not needed. But a drill, drills, a hacksaw or a grinder with cutting discs, bolts and nuts, a steel sheet 1.5-2 mm thick, metal corners for legs, and a tape measure will come in handy.

The first two points of work are the same as when performing a non-separable brazier - drawing and cutting out the details of the brazier from a steel sheet. But when performing a collapsible barbecue, you should add 3-4 centimeters to the joints.

Collapsible metal brazier - scheme

On the side and end walls of the brazier, we make small cuts and bend the sheets so that it becomes possible to join the corners and lay the bottom.

For a strong connection of parts during cooking, we drill holes for screws in the side edges.

We make the legs from pointed corners in a similar way, drilling holes in the walls to connect the walls of the barbecue and the legs with bolts.

The last point is the assembly of the finished structure.

Folding metal brazier

The design of a folding metal brazier is similar to the design of a non-separable brazier. The section is rectangular. The difference is that the walls of the brazier are not welded to each other, but are connected by movable furniture skirts, which allows you to fold the brazier after use. In order to prevent the walls from folding by themselves, we attach metal hooks to the upper part of the walls by welding.

This type of grill is very convenient for transportation.

Corrosion protection

Any metal structure it is desirable to protect against corrosion, then it will last longer, and appearance will be much more attractive.

Only special heat-resistant paints can be used to paint the brazier. They are sold in car dealerships in the form of an aerosol (such paints are applied to a car muffler).

Instead of painting, you can change the structure of the metal. Oxidation or bluing is a process in which a black heat-resistant film is formed on the surface of the metal. For bluing, the surface of metal parts is pre-cleaned and degreased, then the metal is kept at a temperature of 140 degrees in a solution of caustic soda (50 grams per liter of water) for one and a half to two hours.
