What do our clematis love, how and where to plant them so that the flowering is full, how to care for them so that they do not get sick?

Clematis in one place can grow for a very long time, up to 30 years or more. Therefore, before planting, it is necessary to walk around the site, the garden and choose a place for it. Clematis love sunny places and the best place for them south side houses, gazebos, any structure. In any case, clematis should be lit by the sun for 6 hours a day. If you plant clematis near the house, then you should take care of draining the water so that in the rain the water from the roof does not fall on the foliage of the plant.

I watched the planting of clematis, retreating two meters from the one-story country house. Clematis planted on the south side. Near them, a trellis, 2.5 m high, was built of slats, along which clematis climb up. And ropes are stretched from the lattice to the house, along which clematis continue to twist, creating comfortable conditions on hot summer days. Moreover, through the foliage and shoots, a ray of the sun rarely breaks through. Clematis in a row are planted at a distance of 0.7 m from each other. If possible, on six acres, of course, you can’t fantasize, then you can plant clematis with a single bush on the lawn. I have them growing wherever there is a place for planting: both lit by the sun from the south side, and even two varieties "Leege" and "Ville de Lyon" - with north side Houses. The sun illuminates them in the morning and in the evening, and the whole day the clematis is in the shade. But they bloom well - both varieties.

It is not necessary for clematis to pile tall supports, you can run a liana along a fence made of rails or even from a 1 m high mesh. My 86-year-old mother taught me how to make two-meter, or two and a half meter ladders and, most importantly, how to install them without help the mighty of the world this, that is, men. Putting together a ladder of slats 1.5 × 2.0 cm thick is not so difficult for me either. But I could not think of how to drive this ladder into the ground. So this is how mom does it. The first step is nailed at a distance of 0.5 m from the edge of the vertical posts, which should be cut into a cone from below in order to better enter the ground. The first step is not made according to the width of the ladder, for example, if the width of the ladder is 1 m 20 cm, then the first step will be 1 m 60 cm, that is, it will protrude 20 cm from both sides. The first step should be more massive, because when installing it the ledges also have to be pounded so that the ladder firmly enters the ground (see Fig. 1). So that during the summer the racks that are in the ground do not rot, they should be painted with varnish or paint before installation. For the winter, such a ladder is easy to remove.

Soil preparation

The soil should be loose, air and water permeable, neutral, slightly alkaline or slightly acidic. The pit is at least 60 × 60 × 60 cm, because we plant the plant for a long time, and soil preparation must be taken seriously. In those conditions that we have, where the fertile layer is 20 cm, no more, we make bulk flower beds. We do not dig a hole in clay, only up to clay. We put a layer of gravel on the bottom or river sand 3-5 cm layer, and then pour the prepared earth.

For one bush, and it is still so small, you think that he doesn’t need much, but no, all the soil must be prepared at once: these are three, four buckets of humus or rotted manure, three or four buckets of peat, two buckets of sand , three or four buckets of sod land. Our soils are acidic, so I always add dolonite flour - 300 g, if I plant in the fall, and? liter jar ash if planting in spring. In the spring, I add two tablespoons with the top of any Kemira-Spring-Summer fertilizer to the entire prepared soil, in the fall - Kemira-Autumn. A little easier on peat and sandy soils. There you can plant in a hole 60 cm deep, but fill it with earth prepared according to the recipe indicated earlier. If the place is damp and there is water for a long time in spring, then it is better to plant clematis on ridges. When planting, it is very important to deepen the root neck by 10–15 cm, and as the shoots become woody, cover them with earth (see Fig. 2).

Seasonal top dressing

If the pit is filled according to all the rules, then the first two years of feeding are not carried out. In the spring, as soon as the earth thaws, for the prevention of diseases I breed 50 g of copper sulfate and water the bases of the bushes. I feed clematis in spring and summer 5-6 times. I alternate mineral fertilizers with organic ones. I usually do the first dressing with calcium nitrate (a tablespoon per bucket of water). 1 liter is enough for a young bush, and from 1 to 2 buckets for an old one. We distribute the solution in the area of \u200b\u200bthe roots. Further, top dressing should be carried out every two weeks, alternating, for example, "Kemira - station wagon" with infusions of mullein with herbs (nettle, dandelion, weeds). I dilute "Kemira" 1:2 tablespoon per bucket of water, and infusion 1:2 liter - per bucket of water. Before top dressing, if the soil is dry, it should be well watered. In the second half of summer we do not apply fertilizers with large quantity nitrogen. We use "Kemira - autumn"

Shelter for the winter

Foliage and flowers of clematis are hardy. Our Babino has already passed through night frosts at -8 degrees C, and on clematis, here and there, single buds and flowers appear, belated flowers.

I start pruning in mid-October. I sprinkle the root system with either peat or rotted manure. For clematis, deepening the root neck does not affect flowering, and the roots will receive additional warming.

If the clematis is not cut off completely, but by 1 m, according to the affiliation of the variety to the group, then I lay the vine either on spruce branches or on a synthetic building bag. I pull off the liana remaining on the supports and lay it on a bush. I put polyethylene on top. An elastic vine creates an air gap, and clematis do not freeze and do not rot. Serious question: mice. It happened in the spring and you won’t find a trace of shoots, only dust. It is good if the clematis is planted correctly, with a deepening of the root neck. Then the dormant buds will surely wake up and the clematis will be reborn. If your clematis does not sprout in spring, do not rush to dig it up and throw it away. I had such a case with clematis "Ballerina". In the spring there were no signs of life in the plant for a long time. I dug root system It seemed to be alive, the roots are plump, orange. She took a magnifying glass, looked for buds, did not find any, but, nevertheless, taking pity on the plant, she planted it in a pot. And in the summer a sprout appeared, at first small, puny, and now - this huge bush of clematis "Ballerina" annually thanks me with flowers almost all summer.

But back to mice. They are pests, pests, but also living beings, and somehow it is a pity to destroy them, to poison them. It's better to be scared anyway. I remember once when excavating the rubble of the earth, a mouse nest was opened. Little helpless naked lumps from the warm nest arranged by the mother-mouse turned out to be scattered on the ground. I collected them, without touching them with my hands, with the leaves of plants, put them in a former mink and sprinkled them with earth. They have their world, we have ours. Therefore, I still try to scare away mice, and not poison them. In addition to the fact that a poisoned mouse dies in agony, it is also very dangerous for surrounding pets. She, exhausted, will be eaten by both a cat and a dog, and they will also be poisoned. It is better to lay out pieces of cloth soaked in kerosene near the root, or, they say, even mice do not like the smell of burnt wool. Take the pieces natural fur, set them on fire and also spread them into clematis shelters.

Diseases and pests

There are many of them, like every plant. But a full enumeration is not for a magazine article, and in the garden there will hardly be time to determine what and why. So the best treatment is prevention. In the spring, treat diseases with a solution of copper sulphate, and when sheltering for the winter, if you already notice any traces of diseases, mulch (fill in) the soil under the clematis with a layer of sand of 2-3 cm, adding 200 grams of ash and 2-3 grams to the bucket of sand. spoons of kerosene In spring and summer, so that aphids do not start on chrysanthemums, I mulch the soil under them with sand with the addition of kerosene. Helps.

Against pests, and this mealybug, and spider mite, and bears, and slugs with snails, I spray once or twice with karbofos or Iskra. If you put a wet rag or board nearby, then the slugs will gather under these shelters for a day. Fighting bears is even more difficult.

You rarely see pests on clematis, usually with good agricultural technology, proper care and top dressing the liana is green all summer and until late autumn. But sometimes without visible reasons one or more shoots suddenly turn brown and dry. This is WILT. Withered shoots should be removed and burned. It is necessary to carry out all the preventive measures that I wrote about earlier. A diseased plant can be sprayed again blue vitriol(1 tablespoon per bucket of water) or other copper-containing preparations.

Reproduction of clematis (some features)

seeds

Small-flowered clematis reproduce well by seeds. As I wrote in the last issue, the seeds of clematis "Tangutsky", sown in autumn after harvest, sprout together on next year. Large-flowered, as a rule, are not propagated by seeds, because even if the seeds are ripe, as in this summer, it is not known whether the same variety will turn out. But who likes to experiment, then please grow from seed. That year I had a lot of seeds ripen, and at my lectures I will definitely distribute them to my listeners, and I myself will sow them early in the spring and before winter too. Let's see which ones grow better.

cuttings

When cutting the most main point- cutting time. Cut shoots for cuttings at the time of bud formation. At this time, the vines reach 2–2.5 m and it can be difficult to choose them from the total mass. Therefore, if you decide to cut clematis by cuttings, then take one or two shoots aside, and cut them off at the time the buds are formed.

I used to prepare cups (transparent) and fill them with earth prepared from peat humus, sand is the bottom layer, and the top layer is pure sand. But humus or rotted manure form greenery, and even sand is covered with this greenery. The stalk rots and dies. It is better to fill the bottom layer in a glass with peat, and upper layer sand. When the roots are formed, it will be visible through a transparent glass, then you can feed the plant with a weak solution mineral fertilizer. But we are getting ahead of ourselves. First you need to cut the shoot into cuttings. We cut the stalk into two internodes. The upper cut is 0.5 - 1 cm from the upper internode, and the lower one is right under the kidneys (see Fig. 3). The main condition for rooting is high humidity. AT industrial environment humidity is provided by automatic misting installations. How can we deal with this high humidity? If the glass in which the cutting is rooted is covered with a half-cut lemonade bottle on top, then it will not be necessary to water until rooting, which is three to four weeks. Moisture evaporating from the ground will settle on the walls of the bottle and flow down. In general, as taught at school - the water cycle in nature. But the glass must be in the shade. After rooting, that is, the appearance of roots with a clod of earth, the plant can be transferred to a more spacious pot. Plant next year permanent place or give to friends - a very good gift!

Clematis are propagated by dividing the bush. But gardeners rarely share bushes, and the method itself is simple. You can propagate clematis and layering. The shoot fits into a shallow groove, 5-6 cm, and is covered with fertile soil. The end of the escape is brought out. Rooting occurs at each node. But do not rush to dig out earlier than a year later, the roots do not form immediately. Sometimes you rush, dig up, and the shoots from the buds go up, but there are no roots. In the spring, clematis can be opened as early as early April and finally removed at the end of April. And the life of the plant continues, and we look forward to the flowering of our beloved clematis again and again.

Elena Litvyakova

P.S. In the previous issue of the magazine, in an article about clematis, a mistake was made, clematis "Fargeziondes" has the second name "Summer Snow", and not "White Snow".

The popular phrase about beauty that requires sacrifice can be fully attributed to the dacha: in order to make it truly beautiful, gardeners often sacrifice their strength, time, money ... But what if there is not enough time or experience yet, but do you want beauty? It's nice to relax among elegant flower beds and flower beds - is it really possible only at the cost of titanic efforts? Not at all!

Botanical tulips are hardy flowers. A photo

Of course, it will not do without difficulty, but decorate your dacha with unpretentious flowers that do not require special trouble neither during landing, nor in care, is a very real task. And if you choose the right plants, taking into account their seasonal decorative effect and the characteristics of the site, you can make your dream come true and enjoy the beauty that does not require special sacrifices from early spring to late autumn.

Unpretentious flowers - beauty that does not require sacrifice. A photo

bulbous plants

Since it is before everyone else that they meet spring in the country, we will start with them. And believe me, there are many wonderful flowers here that will not cause you any worries - except that the bulbs need to be protected from the ubiquitous, but there are special planting baskets for this - convenient devices, which over time and digging out overgrown bulbs will noticeably simplify.

It is not in vain that this flower got its name: it is born completely “at the wrong time” - late autumn when the foliage from the trees had already almost flown around, and the garden was completely empty and sad. And here, among the general withering, these flowers suddenly bloom, very reminiscent of crocuses.

Such late flowering plus exceptional unpretentiousness is done (or colchicum - lat. Colchicum) welcome guests of the garden. They are planted in July-August, choosing sunny areas or places in partial shade. And then you can forget about any troubles for a long time - Colchicums feel much better if they are not disturbed at all. Isn't it a wonderful property?

Colchicums are beautiful, but poisonous. A photo

However, it is worth knowing and considering that (regardless of the type and variety). All parts of it contain colchicine, a potent poison, so reasonable care must be taken when planting it. Although in my garden, for example, colchicums appeared long before I learned about their possible danger, and they grow to this day.

Sunny mood is guaranteed when doronicum blooms! These bright flowers, similar to daisies, are very spectacular in flower beds, because at the time of flowering doronicum most garden plants are still gaining strength, and the bulbous ones are already fading.

When planting, keep in mind: at the end of flowering, most doronicums fade - they begin a dormant period. At this time, strongly growing bushes can be divided and transplanted. If you are planting doronicum in a flower bed, combine it with perennials or annual plants able to hide fading foliage in early summer.

The small-scale pest is remarkable for its long and abundant flowering, and caring for it consists only in installing props for tall varieties- they tend to fall apart, especially in rainy weather. Yes, and keep in mind: the small-scale hybrid, or erigeron, is a rather aggressive plant; hitting favorable conditions, it actively grows and can capture vast spaces, so it is better to immediately limit its growth.

Usually residents apartment buildings plan to renovate only own apartment units are ready to invest in the public. Many are afraid of theft, vandalism, they are not friendly with their neighbors, they simply do not consider it necessary: “let the housing office try” - there are many reasons. The Village gives a couple of tips for those who are ready to fight for a beautiful stairwell.

Plants

Of course, you can send the surplus of your indoor crop production to the stairs - unloved ones, overgrown flowers, and so on. But they are unlikely to decorate the site. If you decide to buy something right for the decor of a flight of stairs, look for shade-loving plants that are loyal to irregular watering. Contrary to the misconception of many, these are not cacti. Your choice is asparagus, fern, scindapsus (this is a liana), ficus and monstera (they can grow giant and make a jungle out of the entrance). Watering and feeding them, of course, is necessary, but not often: once a week on the weekend is enough. What coasters? Wall planters are better so that a neighbor's child on a scooter or mommy with a stroller does not get angry at your phytodesign. It is desirable to hang on the wall, away from the draft, but so that daylight plants still got it.

Walls

To start a mini-renovation at the entrance, you need the consent of the neighbors. If no one has any objections, the management company cannot interfere with your initiative. Still, it is better to warn utilities about the proposed repair.

If you decide to change the color of the walls, you may have to devote an entire weekend to this. Recipes have not changed since the "Soviet times", only materials and tools have improved. Now you can paint not just like that, but in stripes. Stripes can be anything - single or all over the wall, regular and not, vertical, horizontal, narrow and wide: masking tape easily solves the problem smooth edge. And systems for tinting the base paint in any shade of the RAL palette will allow you to revive, and not completely repaint the strange green or blue melancholy imposed on you by the Housing Office. Not sure about your own taste and can't find interesting color palettes? It's better to paint it white. But it is very important before you start painting to clarify what exactly the walls of your entrance are covered with: water-based and acrylic paints will not lie on top of oil paints.

If you have already tried stenciling, you can do it. This, of course, is not about a border of roses along flight of stairs, but about a large pattern on one wall. The cheapest stencil is a circle. Make one wall “in peas”, and your stairwell will not be recognized. A couple of hours and an aerosol can of paint is enough.

the same role decorative accent perform silhouette stickers. With their help, you can arrange painted flowers, a bicycle, and so on above the stairs. That is to draw life. By the way, modern stickers can be glued to any surface. And most companies are ready to make them to order, according to your sketches and to the size you need.

steps

Gray steps can be painted in any cheerful color. And so that the coating does not wipe off after six months, the stairs are pre-primed with concrete contact. Do this in two days through the step, because you and your neighbors somehow need to walk. Floor and staircase painting can be entrusted to a special company (search the Internet for “concrete painting”). Specialists will draw you at least a Persian carpet, but one that will not be erased by the time the house is demolished. But the price of the offer is much higher than manual painting as part of a community work day.

A bright idea is to decorate only the risers (the so-called vertical wall under the step). You can paint only them or lay them out with colorful tiles. The part of the step that the foot steps on is called the tread. If this very tread hangs over the riser, then the resulting visor looks interesting painted - you will get a striped staircase, the simplest, fastest and a budget option decoration.

Convenient fixtures

Hooks for heavy bags sold at any hardware store, cost a penny. Spend not only on your own - buy immediately for all the neighbors in the stairwell. And don't just buy it - fix it. You return from work with a bunch of children's backpacks, removable shoes, Auchan bags and try to find the keys with the free finger of busy hands. And here - such a gift of fate: a good neighbor who wished to remain anonymous screwed on a hook for your bag.

think about newspaper clerk or about a wall-mounted metal holder for books and newspapers. It will come in handy for those who, despite all the fines and prohibitions of the Ministry of Health, continue to smoke and read in the stairwell. And it smokes without an iPhone - the old fashioned way, with a book. At the same time, support the bookcrossing movement, in other words, share with your neighbors the literature that you have already studied.

Availability ashtrays guarantees that the outstanding cigarette butt will not fly into the garbage chute. Consider a tobacco odor absorber. Neighbors who smoke in the stairwell often annoy non-smokers. It's simple: pour it into a beautiful container and place odor absorber granules next to the ashtray on the stairs. They are cheap and you can change them yourself. But there is no headache with "spraying", you do not need to rely on the fact that the neighbor will remember about airing - the smell is neutralized without your participation.

Bulletin board can make your life easier. For your personal, on the seventh floor, announcements. Hang at the elevator door. Can be on a regular cork surface attach a sheet and tie a pencil, you can hang a beautiful marker board: give the opportunity to write and respond. Here - any announcements that you ask to ventilate after smoking, water flowers, invite you to participate financially in raising funds for painting a flight of stairs - bring money to apartment 222. And so on. It does not hurt to attach a pocket under the board for leaflets about the delivery of sushi, pizza and other spam, which is regularly pasted on the porch. Sometimes he is needed too.

Larisa Bokareva

interior designer, 4rooms design bureau

I myself live in a five-story Stalinist building built in 1956. There is no elevator, there is no place for the concierge. There is a small vestibule and in the second span there is a place where mailboxes hang.

What did we do in our porch? The first is cleaning. Organize it, then you will want to think about fresh design. If the entrance is painted with scary green paint, then you can ennoble everything with a stencil and white paint. You can do this on weekends by connecting children from neighboring apartments. The main thing is to wash them before taking them home.

There are also windows in the entrance - you can buy the simplest cornices and the simplest fabrics treated with a fire-fighting compound - and the windows will create coziness. Don't forget about framed paintings and posters.

If we talk about decorating, then I would suggest laying 50x50 carpet tiles in the corridor. The tiles can either be glued or put on clips. Standard size tiles and ease of installation make it easy to lay out any pattern. Depending on the texture and collection, carpet tiles can be laid in one direction or in different directions.

For walls, you can use stencils (paints are applied with a sprayer on the walls of the entrance) or ready-made wall stickers. As an option - glue inserts from photo wallpaper or paint one of the walls in more

bright and saturated color thus enlivening the interior.
And, of course, put on the stairwell houseplants. It is better green corner issue at the entrance on the first floor or near the elevator. Suitable for entrance large plants, not requiring special care: abutilon, ficus, fatshedera, hibiscus and some dracaena. Of the more compact ones, you should choose aspidistra, oxalis, coleus, begonia, bilbergia, dracaena, ferns, pelargonium, cyperus and sansevier. If there are no window sills in the entrance, then it is better to choose ampelous plants, which are placed in flowerpots, racks and so on.

Inter-apartment staircase- the place where you can use your boundless fantasy and all that is left of the renovation of the apartment. What you no longer need, but it's a pity to throw it away. Stair space is the place common use, this means that nothing can be done without the consent of all the owners of apartments on the floor. But this can be a big plus: team up with neighbors, make friends when discussing design and during its implementation.

Let's put everything we have into action. For example, after the repair, we have a lot of different paint left, somewhere a whole bucket, and somewhere quite a bit. We collected all this and most bright color fuchsia highlighted the area of the flight of stairs, emphasized the window opening. With the paint that was left the most, we painted the walls - each completely in its own color. We also have a lot of buckets left from under the paint different diameter- we cut out their bottoms and, in order to revive our design, painted mugs of different diameters randomly scattered on the wall using a spray can of black paint. In fact, we did not spend a dime on the design - all the banks were collected from neighbors. Modern paints are an environmentally friendly finishing material, so you can safely connect not only adults, but also children to the work.

It has long been believed that color carries a semantic load. This was reflected in customs, art, clothing and lifestyle. different countries.

Bright, juicy tones - foreshadowed the good, faded and faded were a symbol of destruction, old age, failures; dark tones have always been considered harbingers of evil.

White color has always meant purity, innocence of thoughts and desires, the joy of life, not overshadowed by suffering, the sincerity of words, declarations of love, the purity of the soul. Brides were dressed in white, angels and saints were always white,

The color that appeared on the cheeks of a lover testifies to the ardor of his feelings.

The red corner (the main, richly decorated, with icons in shimmering bronze and gold icon cases) was in every peasant hut. It was located in the house in the most prominent place, and those who entered were baptized on it.

Brown in a dream means great experiences, grief, a joyless existence, need, lack of funds. Not a single coat of arms, not a single flag, interiors of palaces or clothes of kings will be dominated by brown. It does not please the eye, gives an earthy tint to the complexion. There is neither joy nor freshness in it. He is inconspicuous. The color of dirt, autumn with a blurry road, a joyless existence.

Lilac color is a symbol of honors, wealth, mutual love. A mixture of pink and blue means tenderness and purity of feelings. In a dream, he predicts the fidelity of a lover, the joy of meeting him, the delights of love, gifts with meaning.
