Such a decision would be especially appropriate if you are decorating a living room in a retro style.

We often decorate our interior with paintings, posters and photographs. In addition to being common and effective wall decor, they also fill our living space with personality. Personal photographs are dear to us because of the memories and emotions they evoke and keep in our memory. Located in the interior one by one or in groups, they fix our attention on a certain section of the wall or horizontal surface chest of drawers, shelves or cabinets.

Posters with images of nature, animals, cities, abstract compositions, as well as reproductions of paintings often play a secondary role in decorating a space. They are often selected for an existing environment, in accordance with the prevailing style and color.

A picture, unlike a poster, can be the starting point in interior design, that is, it can set the style, color scheme and even the composition of the room. The position of the painting in the interior is determined depending on the plot of the painting, its size and design: the presence and size of the passe-partout and the shape of the frame.

Often the picture is accentuated by an artificial light source. It can directly illuminate the canvas of the picture itself, located above it. Luminaires can also be built into the ceiling or placed behind a painting to provide contour lighting.

How to paint a picture yourself

It is known that many people sooner or later have a desire to create something: to make or draw. If you feel the urge to do so, go for it! For example, everyone can create a picture on their own, even if you did not study at art school or at special drawing courses. Do not doubt your abilities, maybe not the first time, but you will surely succeed interesting job, which will delight you and give confidence in your creative abilities. After all, nothing brings us creative satisfaction like the creative process and its results.

I, like many of you, long time nurtured the thought “whether to paint me a picture”, especially since I already had oil paints and a pre-prepared canvas (actually fiberboard). Finally, I found time for this. Next, I will tell you how you can draw a picture from a photo yourself.

First, decide on the plot. Personally, I chose one of the photos from my mother's garden: a tulip photographed from above. This angle seemed interesting to me and I decided to capture it. In addition, this photo is not very detailed, so it is not very difficult to copy it.

In general, paintings with flowers, in my opinion, are universal, they can decorate almost any room. That is, it is a win-win option for decorating living space. Here are some examples of flower paintings:

Keep in mind that you can paint with oil not only on canvas, but also on wood, plywood or cardboard. I had a small piece of fiberboard (hardboard) that I covered several times with a special white primer I bought from an art supply store. Brushes can be either natural or synthetic. Harder brushes are used for oils than for watercolors. Ideally, you need to have brushes of different sizes: a large brush for the background, a medium one for the main work, and a small thin one for drawing details.

In Photoshop, I cropped the tulip photo around the edges to fit the size of my hardboard (26 x 33 cm). In order not to redraw the image, I printed it on two sheets, since my fiberboard canvas was larger than the landscape sheet.

Then I traced the contours of the tulip with a simple pencil, then, on the window, I outlined these contours on the other side of the paper, so that later I could transfer them to the surface of the fiberboard. In fact, if you have tracing paper, the job of transferring the image to the surface of the canvas will go much faster.

So, after I transferred the outlines of the image from the printed photo to my base, I started painting my painting. Up to this point, I had never tried to paint in oils, but I had some gouache skills from the days of art school, which I graduated from as a child. The texture of the oil is very similar to gouache - it has the same thick consistency. For dilution oil paints I used linseed oil. You will need a palette - a piece of cardboard, plywood or wood. Squeeze out the paints on the palette, if necessary, mix them and only then transfer them to the canvas.

I didn’t have an easel, I organized myself workplace laying newspapers on the table. I held my canvas at an angle - that is, so that it was maximally deployed to my gaze. I opened the original photo to the full screen of my laptop and, periodically looking at it, began to draw. I painted my picture on the principle of a developing photograph, first filling in the brightest and darkest parts of the image, then the lighter ones, and so on. To determine the dark and light areas - periodically squint your eyes, looking at the original image. Keep in mind that white canvas cannot be left. Even if your image has White color, as I did, these white areas need to be covered with white paint. When you drastically change the color of the paint you are working with, for example, you painted greens using blue-green shades, and now you move on to painting the colors themselves in yellow-red, use a thick napkin or piece of cloth to wipe the brush.

Painting the picture, including transferring the image to the base, took me no more than one day. So I did it all in one sitting. After completing the painting, let it dry. How long your work will dry will depend on the thickness of the oil layer, paints, thinner, room temperature and humidity. In general, this takes about a week. After working with paints, dry the brushes thoroughly with a solvent rag, then rinse them.

When you make sure that the picture has dried, you can think about how to arrange it. If the picture is made on a stretcher covered with canvas, its ends can also be painted over with paint and placed directly on the wall without a frame. In my case, I used fiberboard - in this case, in order for the picture to look better, it is better to frame it with a baguette. Ready-made frames can be found in stores such as IKEA. A custom-made frame will cost significantly more. In addition, a mat can be included in the design of the picture - a solid field between the picture and the frame. Passepartout makes the picture more elegant and visually enlarges it. I made a photo montage to show how the painting can be framed.

Do not be discouraged if your first pancake turns out to be lumpy and your first picture does not really satisfy you. Drawing is a skill and this skill can be developed. The more you draw, the better you will get. Perhaps one day you will paint a series of paintings and decorate your living space with it. When the entire pattern is transferred to the glass, it must be allowed to dry in accordance with the instructions for the paints. Since the colors different brands may dry differently. When the circuit is completely dry. You can decorate with your favorite colors. Since the drawing is based on black and white, only the artist's imagination serves as a template for determining the color of each element.

When the pattern is painted, it is necessary to dry it as much as possible, it is better to leave it for several hours. To see the result of the work, you need to turn the glass over and the colored paint will remain under the contour. Dried drawing, needs to be covered acrylic varnish in 2 layers with drying of each layer. The instructions for the varnish indicate that its complete drying is achieved after 8 hours, so the glass can be left to dry overnight at room temperature.
It remains only to return the glass to its place - in the frame under the photo on the box and the work is completed.

Such an individually painted box will serve as great addition to the interior or a unique gift, and the process of creating it with such a pattern will help to cope with stress.

Let them make a frame for their creation. Help them with this.

How to make a frame for a picture?

For her, you need to prepare:

  • thick cardboard;
  • stationery knife;
  • salty dough;
  • toothpick;
  • plastic knife for plasticine.
Cut out the cardboard frame yourself, as the clerical knife is very sharp and small children should not be given such a tool. But they can make their own dough. If you do not remember his recipe, you can use one of the following:

Salt Dough Recipe:

  • wheat flour - 1 cup;
  • water - 1 glass;
  • fine salt - 2 cups;
  • dry glue for wallpaper - 1 tbsp. l.
Second recipe:
  • wheat flour - 2 cups;
  • water -3/4 cup;
  • fine salt - 1 cup.
According to any of the recipes presented, you first need to mix the dry bulk ingredients, then add water and knead a thick dough. It is better to first pour out not all the liquid, but more than half. Then add more as needed.

The dough must be kneaded very well, then it will become elastic, will not stick to your hands and tear in the process. Do not store salt dough for a long time, otherwise it will acquire a grayish tint.

Roll it into a rectangle 5-7 mm thick, attach it to the frame, cut off the excess with a knife. From the rest, let the child form a “sausage”, giving it an oval shape, then cut blanks 8 mm thick from it, give them the shape of leaves. Then, using a plastic knife or toothpick, draw veins on them.

You need to cover the picture with a salt dough frame, and then moisten the contact points with water and stick the made leaves here, and on top - flowers made of the same material.

It remains to dry the elements of the frame and you can put a picture in it.

Children's painting

Talent can and should be developed in children from an early age. Here is a picture painted by a girl who is only 2 years and 7 months old.

And children 3-4 years old will be able to create this one on this topic.

The technology for making detailed paintings is very interesting. First prepare the following materials with your child:
  • sheet of A3 paper;
  • palette;
  • gouache;
  • a jar of water;
  • saucer;
  • poke from foam rubber;
  • brushes No. 5–8;
  • potatoes;
  • paint brush;
  • a rag;
  • glass large enough to more sheet paper.

Let's get down to some interesting stuff. Here's how to draw a picture in an original way. Moisten the glass with water, let the baby cover it with a brush with strokes of white and blue gouache, while mixing the colors a little. Until they are dry, cover the glass with a sheet of paper, press it over the entire surface, and then separate and lay gouache up.

Now you need to draw black branches on which the bullfinches will sit. You can make this activity even more interesting. Toddlers will enjoy drawing such childish pictures if they play catch-up with mom at this stage.

Let one of the elders paint one branch with paint, and the child, as if catching up with the brush of adults, will follow his own path and learn to draw a tree and branches.

The next step on the way of drawing a children's picture will be no less interesting. Take small and large potatoes, cut each in half. Pour red gouache into a saucer. Let the child dip the root crop into it cut down and make prints on the sheet. In this case, a large potato will help create the body of a bird, and a small one - its head.

Do not remove the root crops from the sheet, now let the kid draw the backs and tails of the bullfinches with blue paint. The child will not go beyond the inner boundaries, as the lying potatoes block this path, so the head and chest of the birds will remain red.

Now you need to draw black paws for bullfinches, and depict snow with a poke. Dipping it in white paint, you need to leave light prints on the sheet with dotted movements.

Here's how to draw some quick and fun baby pictures that you can then frame with salt dough and hang in a prominent place in the house.

If you put your palm in the paint, and then make an imprint on paper, you get a tree trunk. Have an adult do it using Brown color. Then the kids will be able to turn their palms into leaves, forming a crown out of them. Such children's pictures will unite people of different generations if they create together. The frame can be made of any material, including puff pastry.

Here you need an understanding of working with the material, knowledge of the basic properties of the skin, considerable patience and perseverance. Therefore, it is recommended that you first try to make small trial compositions, and then move on to voluminous, fundamental works.

The most commonly used color palette in paintings made of genuine leather - brown-beige. But some daredevils are happy to use green, red, orange, yellow flaps.

The main advantages of leather images:

  • Exclusivity - due to the originality of the material, it is impossible to repeat the picture one to one;
  • Relief - depth, elevation, highlights and shadows create an unsurpassed 3D effect, thanks to which the picture "comes to life";
  • Availability - small pieces of leather can be found both at home and purchased at the "flea" market or from shoemakers literally for next to nothing.

  • When creating a picture for the interior with your own hands, it is best not to dazzle with colors, but to use a tone that matches the design of the kitchen. You also always need to adhere to the style of the overall concept of interior design. For example, in classic room leather goods and oil paintings are acceptable. The following materials are suitable for high-tech style: glass, metal, mirror. Provence can be filled with floral ornaments and paintings from cereals. Volumetric works harmoniously look in modern kitchens and combined styles.
  • The color palette should include three primary colors and several (at the request of the owner) close shades. Cold tonality is allowed to be diluted with warm accents, but you need to take colors from the opposite spectrum.

Color spectrum: right principles color combinations

  • For convex shapes, you should always use an alternation of light and dark tones. Moreover, oversized dark volumes look best on a light plane. Approximately the same principle of a tandem of glossy with matte materials: matte should protrude above glossy. Thus, a greater depth of paintings and a maximum 3D effect are achieved.
  • At self-manufacturing paintings, whether it be an application or a drawing, it is important to observe the basic compositional principles, dynamics and balance.

  • easy way make the picture original - bring the inner drawing beyond the basic contour. For example, to extend the image to the frame or, with relief forms, beyond the border of the frame.
