Clean the surface of the base from dirt, dust and delaminations that prevent plaster from sticking, if necessary - rinse with water under pressure or treat with a water-sandblast unit, remove formwork lubricant residues from concrete, embroider the seams of brickwork, etc. New masonry from ceramic brick, expanded clay concrete blocks, before applying plaster mortar moisturize. On the surface of the base silicate brick, concrete, rubble masonry, old masonry from ceramic bricks, apply a solution of Knauf-Adhesive with a layer thickness of 5 mm. Moisten surfaces that are highly absorbent or with different hygroscopicity (mixed masonry) before applying Knauf-Adhesive. In 1-2 hours after applying Knauf-Adhesive, lightly “raise” the surface with a rule, grater, etc. for the destruction of the cement film.
Before applying the Knauf-Cottage plaster mortar, leave the spray layer to harden for one day. Install protective corners on the corners, fixing them in advance with the KNAUF-Cottage solution. With an unsuitable base for plaster, for example, old weak brickwork, fix the metal reinforcing mesh according to the rules.

Work conditions:
The air and substrate temperature must not be lower than +5°C. Protect work surfaces on the windward side from rain, in sunny and very warm weather cover the applied plaster with a tarpaulin, film, etc. until dry. Contiguous building elements susceptible to pollution natural wood, glass, aluminum, natural stone, cover or paste over the floor surface with waterproof coatings.

Knauf dry mixes are in demand among professional finishers and those who first picked up a spatula. This article provides an overview of the range of ready-made gypsum and cement mixtures this firm. The data on technologies of their use are given.

General recommendations. The surface temperature must meet the Knauf requirements, usually 5 °C or more. The substrate must be dry, free from loose materials, dust or dirt. To do this, hard brushes are passed along the entire wall, the protruding parts of the masonry mortar are knocked down with a hammer.

Gypsum compositions

Mixtures, a significant percentage of which is gypsum, are widely used in interior decoration of residential premises. This is one of the most convenient options. However, you yourself can draw a conclusion by reading. Using Knauf products the surface after plastering is ready for further finishing after a week.

Almost all compounds that are labeled "for machine application" can be used when manual work. But on the contrary - in any case! This can lead to a breakdown of expensive equipment with all the ensuing consequences.

Preliminary work

  1. Applying a primer. It is possible to increase the adhesive properties of the base plane by pre-priming it. For walls made of various materials their approaches. Yes, the walls cellular concrete and bricks (materials that strongly absorb water) are primed with Grundirmittel (consumption 0.1-0.15 kg / m2) or Grund (consumption 0.4 kg / m2), which dry for about 6 hours. This is done so that water from the plaster does not soak into the wall, which prevents it from setting prematurely and unevenly. Concerning concrete surfaces or walls insulated with EPPS, then they are coated with a primer Betonokontakt (consumption 0.3 kg / m2), which provides better adhesion to such smooth bases. The coating dries for about a day.
  2. Wall marking and installation of lighthouses. Beacons are installed at a distance of no more than the length of the existing rule, fastened to the mortar or dowels. You can read more about technologies and. If you are dealing with a relatively flat base plane, then beacons can be dispensed with, for example, when plastering a wall of blocks or bricks.
  3. Installation of corner profiles. For getting right angles the plaster is applied to the fastening part of the specially designed profile in increments of 20-40 cm, after which the element is mounted in the plane indicated by the beacons. After the solution has hardened, you can proceed to the main stage of work.

The color of mixtures from different batches of the same brand may vary, for example, color palette can vary between gray and white, and sometimes capture pinkish shades. This does not affect performance characteristics prepared Knauf plaster

Rotband

The well-known mixture Knauf Rotband. In the video below, the features of the composition and the procedure for working with it. Additional information about this plaster and how to work with it you can find here.

Goldband

Dry Knauf mix Goldband is suitable for interior decoration rooms, regardless of the material of the walls. The main requirement is the use in conditions of normal humidity. Let us denote the main points of the technology for using the mixture:

  1. Solution mixing. About 18 liters of cold water are poured into the prepared container. tap water for 30 kg of dry mix. First, several trowels of the mixture are poured, the composition is mixed until a homogeneous liquid mass is obtained. Only after that, the remains of the plaster are poured out, everything is mixed with a mixer. If necessary, the consistency of the solution is adjusted by adding water or a mixture of Goldband.
  2. Application. The viability of the solution is no more than 25 minutes - during this time it must be applied to the prepared surface. When finishing bearing walls from blocks or insulated base. If necessary, apply thick layer mortar, then this is done in two stages: first, the first is applied, a week is waited for it to dry, then a primer is applied, after it dries, the second layer of plaster follows. The solution is evenly distributed by the rule according to the level of the beacons.
  3. Alignment of the resulting surface. An hour after the preparation of the solution, its excess is cut off with a cutter rule. By this time, Knauf Goldband should grab.
  4. Rubbing the plane. After 15 minutes, for the subsequent painting of the wall, the surface is moistened with water and, after the release of milk, it is rubbed with a sponge grater in a circular motion. The purpose of this operation is to smooth out the bumps from previous operations as much as possible.
  5. smoothing down. On the finishing stage when the liquid from rubbing is absorbed into the material, the wall is smoothed with a trowel.

In the video below, a comparison of Knauf products with one of Volm's dry mixes. How objective the verdict is - only you can judge.

This must be taken into account when using all Knauf gypsum plasters:
- in order for the applied plaster to dry faster, it is required to ensure normal ventilation of the room to be finished. In order to intensify the process, it is not allowed to use heating appliances- the finish may crack from too rapid evaporation of moisture;
- if in the future it is planned to finish with decorative plaster, then the leveled base is additionally primed. In our case, the use of Tiefengrund primers is relevant;
- the water used for the preparation of the solution must be clean, its optimum temperature is in the range of 5-30 °C. More cold water negatively affects the mixing, while exceeding the temperature bar affects the increase in the rate of evaporation of the liquid from the solution - the appearance of cracks in plaster layer;
- after completing the planned daily scope of work, it is necessary to thoroughly clean the containers, tools and equipment from the solution. Otherwise, a serious decrease in the viability of mixed mixtures is possible.

HP Start

Another option for Knauf plaster is HP Start, designed for manual application to internal surfaces walls of residential premises (conditions: normal humidity and temperature within 16-30 °C). The contents of a 25 kg bag of the mixture are closed with approximately 14 liters of water previously collected in a 50 liter container. The viability of the plaster mortar does not exceed 40 minutes - during this time it is necessary to go through all the stages that are relevant for the Goldband mixture.

Almost the same, as well as the visualization of the technology for using the HP Start mixture, is shown in the video below.

MP 75 and MN Start

These brands of plaster are positioned as mixtures for machine application. They are often used for large volumes of work by specialized companies. In a few words, we describe the technology for working with Knauf MN Start and MP 75:

  1. Preparation of the plaster station. This stage is carried out in accordance with the recommendations for a specific model of a station for mechanized plastering, which you could read about in the article. A mixture of MP 75 or MN Start is poured into a special hopper, after which the water flow is adjusted to mix the mixture in order to obtain the material of the desired viscosity.
  2. Application of the solution. Approximately 0.3 m from the surface, holding the gun in a position perpendicular to the base, the solution is applied from top to bottom. The thickness of the layer varies due to the speed of the gun.
    Alignment, mashing and smoothing are carried out in the same way as when working with the Goldband brand.

remember, that machine plaster does not tolerate the immobility of the solution. In the case of materials from Knauf, we are talking about 15 minutes - you cannot pause more than this time, because. station may fail.

The video below will focus on one of the most popular compositions for mechanized plastering works- MP 75.

cement mixtures

Cement-based dry mixes are used where hydrophobic properties, resistance to mechanical influences hardened coating and the possibility of mixing a large batch of mortar. In the latter case, the viability of the solution reaches 1.5-2 hours - this time is enough to finish a large area.

When conducting external finishing works care must be taken to ensure that the applied composition is not exposed to direct sun rays, precipitation, strong wind. In some cases, this is affected by excessively rapid evaporation of moisture from the solution, in others - by waterlogging of the coating. All this negatively affects the durability of the plaster layer.

Depending on the nature of the wall material, there are two approaches to pretreatment:

  • coating primer composition Quartzgrund or Isogrund, diluted with water 2 times - for walls made of cellular concrete (absorbing moisture);
  • spray with mortar Adhesive with pre-saturation of the walls with water - to increase adhesion to smooth substrates

adhesive

The main purpose of this plaster mixture from Knauf is to guarantee an increase in the adhesive properties of the base surface. At the same time, a change in the hygroscopicity of the wall material is achieved, which has a positive effect on the hardening of the plaster layer. In most cases, it performs the functions metal mesh can be applied both manually and by machine.

Briefly about the work:
Closure of the mixture. 25 kg of dry mixture are mixed with about 5 liters of water, the components of the solution are thoroughly mixed.
Application. Hygroscopic surfaces are abundantly moistened. Adhesive is sprayed with a layer of 5 mm. Subsequent operations can be carried out after a day.

Universal technology for applying Knauf cement plaster:

  1. a layer of mortar up to 15 mm thick is applied, which is leveled with an h-shaped rule;
  2. after it seizes, the excess mass is removed with a lattice grater;
  3. if a thicker layer is needed, then it is applied already on the hardened surface of the first;
  4. weak points of the base and corners are additionally reinforced with mesh reinforcement. When applying a layer of plaster with a thickness of 30 mm or more, it is recommended to use a metal mesh;
  5. subsequent work is carried out only after the complete curing of the solution, usually from three to four days to two weeks (depending on the thickness and temperature and humidity conditions)

Grunband

Grunband is a cement dry mix, the solution of which, when applied to walls, provides them with additional heat-shielding properties. It can be used both for exterior and interior decoration, regardless of the material of the walls and the method of application.

Below is a short video on the composition of Grunband and its application.

Unterputz

If you are faced with the task of leveling the walls, which will subsequently be under the influence high humidity, then for these tasks it is worth using the Unterputz mixture. Like others cement compositions Knauf, can be applied by machine or by hand. To knead 25 kg of the mixture will require approximately 5 liters of water. All other works are carried out according to the universal technology given above.

What is the mixture at work, you can see in the video below. It does not take much time.

Zokelputz

For walls that may be subject to mechanical stress, you have to use plaster high strength- such as Knauf Sokelputz. Preliminary and all subsequent work is carried out according to the universal rules that are relevant when using dry cement mixtures. One bag per 25 kg contains about 5 liters of water.

Sevener

Knauf Sevener is an advanced development of the company, a dry mix endowed with several qualities at once: high adhesion to any substrate, hydrophobic properties, and a guarantee of protection against cracking. It can be used as an adhesive when insulating the facade with insulation boards, for repairing old plastered surfaces and as a normal leveling plaster. Suitable for both machine and hand application.

To avoid the formation of cracks, after applying the solution, a plaster mesh is embedded in it.

Technology of use depending on the goals:

  • Like glue for thermal insulation. The Sevener solution is applied pointwise to the insulation - in the middle part, with a strip 5 and 2 cm wide and 2 cm thick, respectively - along the perimeter. After two days, the plates are considered glued.
  • Like plaster on insulation. A solution with a thickness of 5 mm is applied to the surface. It is convenient to do this using a toothed trowel with a tooth size of 10 × 10 cm. A fiberglass mesh with a cell of 5 × 5 mm is embedded in the layer, the resulting plane is leveled and left for a week until completely dry.
  • Plastering of concrete and brick foundations. Works are carried out according to the universal rules for cement mortars.

Diamond

Of the entire list of plasters described in our review, only Diamant belongs to the category of decorative structural plasters for manual and machine application. Its peculiarity lies in the fact that along with decorative properties it is resistant to adverse conditions - suitable for indoor and exterior finish. To mix 25 mixtures, approximately 7 liters of water will be required. After the first stirring, the mixture is kept for a quarter of an hour, and then repeated stirring follows. Depending on what material was used to level the base, the wall is additionally primed with the following compositions: GKL or concrete wall- Putzgrund, gypsum mortar- Quartz-ground, cement plaster - as in the previous case or Isogrund. In all cases, the primer should dry for at least a day.

Briefly about the application: Knauf Diamond plaster is applied using spatulas and trowels, the surfaces are immediately given the desired texture using the entire arsenal of tools that we talked about in the article.

A short video about decorative plaster Knauf Diamant. From the video you will learn about the features of the mixture, the effect obtained and the technology for applying the solution.

Finally

As you can see, the range ready mixes for plastering, Knauf is pretty decent. You just have to choose the most suitable option. Believe it will great alternative the search for proven proportions of the components and the subsequent independent preparation of the mixture.

Scope and properties

If you are looking for something to align the walls and ceiling, great choice there will be gypsum plaster Knauf. Part this material includes gypsum and mineral additives that increase the adhesion of the plaster. When using this type of plaster, it turns out Smooth surface without pores and frizziness. The plaster is applied by hand with spatulas indoor areas Since gypsum is a hydrophobic material, it breaks down when exposed to moisture. Knauf gypsum plaster can be applied to any base of walls and ceilings: concrete, brickwork, cement plaster, drywall and others. A distinctive feature of this plaster mixture is that it can be used as a rough screed and finishing putty in one pass. The layer thickness can be up to 50 mm. Because of this feature, the plaster got its name (start + finish). The material is very plastic and easy to work with, despite the fact that the consumption is 1.5-2 times less than in cement-sand plaster.

Before you start applying Knauf gypsum plaster, you need to prepare the base.

First you need to clean the surface under the plaster from the old coating. Then you should clean the base from dirt, dust. If there are iron elements on the base, they must be treated with an anti-corrosion agent. Then you need to carefully primed. For priming, it is recommended to use a special primer. For smooth surfaces a primer with a quartz filler is perfect, and for hygroscopic ones - special coarse-penetrating primers. Primers can be purchased at any hardware store. After priming the base, plaster beacons should be installed on the walls, and on outside corners walls and structures made of drywall put on corners (made of aluminum, plastic or other material). When plastering smooth surfaces, for better adhesion and prevention of delamination, reinforcement should be made with a special mesh (the mesh is attached to dowels). Finished with the foundation.

Let's proceed directly to the preparation of Knauf gypsum plaster.

It is very important to adhere correct proportion. A standard bag of Knauf gypsum plaster needs 18-20 liters of water.

It is very important to keep the right proportion. A standard bag of Knauf gypsum plaster needs 18-20 liters of water. And so, step by step instructions:
1) pour the specified amount of water into a clean bucket;
2) pour plaster into a bucket of water;
3) wait 3-5 minutes until the plaster sits on the bottom of the bucket;
4) mix until a homogeneous mixture.

What should I pay attention to when choosing Knauf plaster?

The composition significantly affects the parameters of the material, respectively, hence the operating conditions, as well as all kinds of restrictions. For example, mixtures plaster base should not be applied in rooms with high levels of humidity.

To buy Knauf plaster, which will correspond to the finishing work plan, several extremely important points should be considered:

  1. Consider the type of base. For example, mixtures intended for foam blocks are characterized by increased adhesion, this applies to all mineral surfaces. However, on monolithic foundations the plaster is starting to peel off.
  2. Operating conditions. Knauf plaster for interior finishing works has various modifiers, and also has various parameters. You should not use interior mixtures when finishing facades, however, frost-resistant solutions are suitable for wet rooms.
  3. Mode of application. Conditionally plaster mixes Knauf are divided into two types: manual application and mechanized. The differences are in viscosity and adhesion time. Mechanized solutions designed for aerated concrete are universal, therefore, they can also be applied manually.
