Chronology of terry petals

Among natural species garden jasmine or, more correctly, mock orange, there are hardly terry forms. Most wild plants are characterized by simple, tasty-smelling flowers of small or medium size.

The history of terry flowers of mock orange begins in 1909 and is associated with the Lemoine family of talented French breeders. While experimenting with Chubushnik ordinary, the originator managed to develop the first terry variety Virginal, which has been a favorite for many gardeners for more than 100 years. Terry Lemoine mock oranges resemble small roses in a semi-dissolution.

An equally significant contribution to the breeding of new, including terry varieties, was made by the domestic originator N. Vekhov, who devoted most of his life to jasmine and did not stop breeding research even during the Great Patriotic War.

The first half of the 20th century is the peak of the popularity of garden jasmine, the period when most of the varieties and hybrids still used in ornamental gardening were obtained.

Note! The terry group of mock oranges is not uniform. Semi-double varieties are distinguished from it - Alabaster, Elbrus, Norma, Dame Blanche. And there are also densely double hybrids, such as Zhemchug, Argentina, Engagement.

Favorite varieties and hybrids

The garden mock orange is represented by a rich collection of terry varieties. It has tall and dwarf shrubs, large-flowered and with a small corolla, with different amount petals, on which the terry actually depends. Separate history of the name of varieties. They are so eloquent that they literally radiate whiteness, airiness, pristine purity.

  • Moonlight is a variety that really glows in the dark, while emitting a divine strawberry aroma, as if you are standing by a basket with freshly picked berries. Pompom flowers are small, but there are many of them.
  • A snowstorm - the statement is true to him that even the leaves are not visible because of the flowers. The flowers are large with elongated drooping petals, as if wet from the rain, collected in lush snow-white bouquets of 10-15 pieces.
  • Pearls are a hybrid from Vekhov's heritage. It is interesting not only for large (up to ø6.5 cm) densely double inflorescences, but also for the unusual mother-of-pearl shine of the petals.
  • The ermine mantle belongs to the undersized group of mock oranges with double flowers collected in graceful drooping bundles - hence the effect of the "mantle". The main advantage is the flowering time of 1.5 months.
  • Arctic - a variety recognizable by flexible shoots with inflorescences at the tops. The brush contains 5–7 pure white flowers, which retain their decorative effect for 3 weeks. They emit a faint, but very delicate aroma.
  • The ballet of moths convinces once again that White color has many shades. The tall spreading shrub is recognizable by the fireworks of fluffy flowers with a greenish tint.
  • The charm - late variety, blooming after mock orange with large, densely planted double flowers.
  • Dame Blanche despite female name, one of the best winter-hardy varieties. A low, densely leafy shrub at the height of flowering (early July) is covered with a veil of semi-double flowers with a pronounced jasmine aroma.
  • The memory of Vekhov is a hybrid of a new generation, with many advantages - a densely leafy crown, a large size of a multi-petalled flower, an unusual creamy shade, and a strong smell.
  • Academician Komarov - also from new varieties. It is winter-hardy, tall and sprawling, shaped like a fountain. Among the advantages are large semi-double flowers up to 10 cm in diameter, located not only at the top, but also along the entire length of the shoot.

Note! One of the areas of selection is getting pink terry hybrids mock orange. So far, only a “tinted” version has been created in this group. There are also varieties of Bicolor, Buclerk - with simple white flowers, colored with a pink center.

How to grow a strong and healthy shrub?

The triumphal march of mock orange across the expanses of Russia is associated with endurance and, first of all, winter hardiness. decorative culture. Most of the multi-petal forms were created by crossing the ordinary Ch. with the small-leaved Ch., which is characterized by medium frost resistance, so the hybrids are more sensitive to cold. This must be taken into account when planting flowering varieties.

Landing features

Terry mock orange, like a simple one, prefers planting in secluded sunny corners of the garden, under the protection of a building or dense plantings. Plant it better in early spring, before bud break, then the plant will have much more time to take root, get stronger, and, therefore, the chances of surviving in winter.

Fertile, permeable soil is the “fad” of garden jasmine. When planting, experts recommend adding at least 3 parts of humus to the hole, and in places with close occurrence ground water provide for drainage of the landing pit. To stimulate the growth of the seedling, after planting it must be cut off, leaving no more than a third of the shoot.

Advice! To start it root system plants, recommend a method of planting in a water hole. The hole is filled by a third with the prepared substrate, poured with water, a seedling is placed and the soil is sprinkled. After absorbing moisture, the landing circle is mulched with dry peat or humus.

What care is needed?

Terry mock orange after planting and rooting for 2–3 years does not need special care. During this period, it is desirable to protect the bush from freezing. For the winter, it is advised to cover it with spruce branches, undersized forms can be wrapped with spunbond.

For 3-4 years, top dressing begins - in early spring and after flowering. Organics, complex mineral fertilizers will be used as fertilizer.

Terry forms painfully react to drought; during flowering, if there is no precipitation, they need to be watered 2-3 times a week.

Faded shrub needs pruning. Tops with dried inflorescences are removed, stimulating the growth of lateral branches - they will have flowers next year. The number of skeletal stems is regulated - the old ones (2-3 pieces) are cut out, and the young ones are left instead.

Secrets of abundant flowering

Some gardeners complain that they do not bloom terry mock orange. If you put him on sunny place, it demonstrates good development dynamics, but it does not lay flower buds, you may have overfed the plant with nitrogen, and it is fattening.

The second reason is that the bush is too young and its time has not yet come.

The problem may lie in pruning. If, after flowering, you did not approach the bush, the dried buds were not removed, until autumn it expended energy on the ripening of seeds, the young growth gave unimportant. What bloom to expect next year? Weak, maybe none.

And, of course, the plant will not bloom if last year's shoots are frozen and you cut it off in the spring.

All about mock oranges, including terry ones:

Brugmansia (lat. Brugmansia) is an incredibly beautiful exotic evergreen the Solanaceae family. tree plant in nature reaches a height of 5 meters. In our temperate climate, its height is 2-3 meters.
Effectiveness of the plant is given by large fragrant flowers in the form of gramophones lowered down. They look so chic that you can't take your eyes off them.

Sometimes the brugmansia flower is called "angel's trumpets". Blooming color palette tropical beauty very diverse: from tender pastel colors to bright and saturated, sometimes several colors are combined at the same time. Gramophone flowers can be simple, semi-double, terry, and also with funnels, which are located on two levels.

The flowering period is July-August. Originally a luxurious flower from the tropics and subtropics South America. It is a thermophilic plant that is successfully grown in southern regions, brugmansia should spend the winter in a warm room, winter cold she won't take it. Therefore, it is planted in open ground in containers that are brought indoors for the winter.

Types of Brugmansia

  • Fragrant brugmansia. This species also has a name - fragrant. The homeland of the species is sunny Brazil with a hot climate, where the plant feels comfortable. By creating similar climatic conditions indoors (greenhouse or greenhouse), it will bloom and smell fragrant all year round. In nature, this species reaches a height of 5 meters. Its large snow-white, sometimes with a light green or light yellow tint look very attractive. The leaves are large, oval, reach a length of 25 cm, a width of 15 cm. The plant grows quite quickly.
  • Golden. A species of Brugmansia native to Colombia. The peculiarity of this species is the yellow-orange color of flowers and elongated leaves, reaching a length of 0.5 meters. Flowers - beautiful shape, have a wide bend. In addition to golden hues, there are plants from this species with cream or pink flowers. Golden Brugmansia blooms late in the evening and at night, attracting butterflies and insects with its intoxicating aroma. The stem of the tree is short.

  • snow white. Another species name woody. The homeland of the species is South America, where the plant grows up to 3 meters high. The flowers are snow-white up to 25 cm long. Numerous hybrids have been bred on the basis of this species.

  • Bloody. This species is named for the incredibly colorful color of the flowers of the plant, which can be either bright red or orange. One of the most beautiful and frost-resistant species brugmansia.

  • Multicolored brugmansia. This species got its name from unusual flowering- the flowers of the plant change their color depending on their age. At the beginning it blooms white, and over the years peach or orange flowers. The flowers are large - up to 50 cm in length. Like all species, it has a fragrant, pleasant and inviting aroma for insects.

Brugmansia: outdoor cultivation

You can grow this gorgeous plant both from seeds and buy seedlings in flower shops, where they are sold planted in a container with soil. In addition, the plant can be propagated by cuttings - burgmansia lends itself perfectly to cuttings. Consider 2 ways to grow a flower: seed and cuttings.

Growing brugmansia from seeds

The optimal period for sowing Brugmansia seeds is January - March.

1. Soil selection

The plant prefers fertile loamy soils, therefore, in order to create optimal conditions for active growth and development, it is necessary to properly prepare the soil mixture for planting seeds.
mix:

  • one part of biohumus;
  • one part of clay soil;
  • 2 parts peat.

Disinfect the resulting soil mixture by watering abundantly with a solution of potassium permanganate.

2. Sowing seeds

Stages of planting seeds:

  • To speed up the germination process, soak the seeds in a growth stimulator.
  • Soil in a container, before sowing, loosen and water abundantly.
  • Plant seeds at a depth of 0.5-1 cm.
  • For creating comfortable conditions for germination of sprouts, cover the container with film or glass. As soon as shoots appear, the shelter is removed. Seedlings must be sprayed frequently (up to 3 times a day), while not moistening the soil.
  • As soon as the fifth leaf appears on the seedlings, the plant can be transplanted into a spacious pot, not forgetting that Brugmansia grows very quickly.

Growing Brugmansia seed method requires a large number time. Due to the fact that its seeds have a rather dense shell, the first shoots appear from seeds no earlier than after 2 months. Before planting, it is recommended to scratch each seed a little to speed up its germination. The plant will bloom in the second year after planting.

Planting Brugmansia in open ground

As soon as young seedlings braid the roots of the container where they were planted after diving, Brugmansia can be planted in open ground on permanent place. Considering that the plant does not remain to winter in open field in the garden, it is grown as a tub plant, which is brought into the room for the winter, where it continues to bloom. The container with the seedling can be taken out into the garden after frost. Transplantation into a container or tub is carried out by transshipment along with a clod of earth. A layer of drainage is laid at the bottom of the container, the container must be spacious enough and have drainage holes for drainage. excess moisture. Choose a well-lit place in the garden, with diffused light and well protected from the wind. Brugmansia shoots are very fragile, gusts of wind can break them. After planting, the plant quickly grows, actively gaining mass.

Growing and propagating cuttings of Brugmansia

Brugmansia can be easily propagated and grown from cuttings. For a high-quality cutting, it is necessary to find a semi-lignified apical shoot up to 20 cm long from the mother tree, with leaves arranged asymmetrically. Such a stalk will quickly take root and quickly begin to bloom. Place the cutting in water (1/3), the water should be changed as often as possible, while adding crushed activated carbon to it.

In a month and a half, the first roots will appear. Brugmansia is ready for planting in a container, which should be at least 10 liters, as the plant grows rapidly. The soil mixture for planting should be special (we described it earlier for sowing seeds). tropical guest loves frequent watering and good soil moisture. In a year, the tree will grow about 1 meter in height, in rare cases, with special top dressing, it will bloom.

Brugmansia, care

Many people think that it is very difficult to care for Brugmansia and do not undertake to grow it in the garden. But knowing certain rules care for the southern guest, when creating optimal conditions for its growth, you can grow this gorgeous flowering tree in your country house.

Watering Brugmansia

The plant comes from a hot climate and needs good moisture. Its leaves actively evaporate moisture, so watering should be plentiful, at least once a day. And in dry summers - twice a day. Spraying is also carried out daily in the evening. With a lack of moisture, Brugmansia sheds foliage, flowers and formed buds. AT rainy summer watering is reduced so that the soil has time to dry out.

Brugmansia top dressing

Brugmansia reacts positively to the introduction of organic matter into the soil and mineral fertilizers. Chicken manure is added to the container once a week. During the flowering period, a complex phosphorus-potassium fertilizer is added.

pruning brugmansia

The plant needs pruning throughout the season. But the most effective is spring pruning which takes place in March. Broken, damaged branches should be removed, and the lower Y-shaped shoots should be left, from which flower buds develop.

Care after flowering and wintering

In autumn, when burmangsia blooms, it is brought into the room and this must be done before the first frost, as soon as the night temperature reaches 5-7 degrees Celsius. Indoors, Brugmansia continues to grow and bloom, filling the room. fragrant aroma. room for large flower should be spacious, well lit, organize additional lighting in the room. Keep in mind that flowering plant has a strong aroma.

If you want to let the plant rest and put it into a dormant stage until next spring, move the tub with it to a cool room (porch), do not feed and water moderately. Brugmansia will drop foliage for the winter, and new buds will appear at the end of winter.

Diseases and pests of Brugmansia

  • Basically, the plant is attacked by slugs, whiteflies, spider mite and aphids. Pesticides are used to destroy them.
  • Most often, Brugmansia is infected with putrefactive diseases, for example, gray rot. A plant infected with it stops its growth, leaves and shoots are affected. Cause fungal disease- excessive soil moisture and improper watering when water stagnates in the internodes of branches. Affected shoots should be removed, the soil should be allowed to dry and fungicides should be applied to treat the plant.
  • Not only is it susceptible to gray rot top part plants, but also the root system. With root rot, it is necessary to keep the plant without watering for about a week so that the soil dries well. Then watering is resumed, it should be moderate.
  1. Even experienced flower growers growing problems luxury flower especially when it comes to flowering. It is often possible to observe as soon as the buds that have appeared begin to fall off. The reason for the fall of the buds is the lack of lighting. With a lack of sunlight, the stems and shoots of the plant become weak and thin. In addition, the buds can crumble due to a sharp change in air temperature. You should not rearrange Brugmansia with buds to a new place, when changing lighting, it can drop buds.
  2. An adult plant has a luxurious, spreading crown up to 2 meters in diameter. When choosing a place on the site, consider this fact.
  3. The southern beauty does not need to be adjacent to other plants, she looks great as a single plant.
  4. The aroma of Brugmansia is rich, it becomes very suffocating indoors, small or poorly ventilated rooms are not suitable for wintering. The suffocating aroma, which becomes more intense at night, can cause insomnia and headaches.
  5. The Brugmansia plant is considered poisonous. All its parts (especially seeds) contain psychotropic and toxic substances with hallucinogenic properties. In ancient times, the Indians used Brugmansia flowers for medicinal purposes.
  6. Pruning should be done with gloves, as the plant is poisonous and can cause irritation to people, especially those with sensitive skin.

Brugmansia is a magnificent plant that, when in bloom, makes a lasting impression in the garden and will not go unnoticed. By placing it near the terrace or veranda, you will enjoy the splendor of snow-white, cream or orange "angel pipes", exuding an amazing aroma that intensifies in the evening.

for a long time flowering shrubs often found in landscape design. They are the decoration of carpet flower beds,. Bushes planted in tubs serve as a decor for the main entrance or terrace. These perennials include Brugmansia, which attracts attention with huge flowers on a shrub two meters high.

Brugmansia is native to the South American subtropics. By appearance flowers, the plant is called dope, angel's trumpets, poisonous properties- a demon tree, since the juice and aroma of some types of shrubs cause hallucinations.

Description of Brugmansia, its types

The perennial plant belongs to the Solanaceae family, and outwardly looks like a dope. In addition to the lush foliage of a tree-like bush, funnel-shaped flowers are up to half a meter long and twenty centimeters in diameter. The form large leaves shrub oval with slightly wavy edges. Veins are clearly visible on the surface of the green plates. The leaves are arranged in tiers on the bushes.

There are several types of Brugmansia that differ in the color of bell-like flowers:

  1. The most common species include Brugmansia Treelike, on the basis of which many varieties have been bred. The tree reaches four to five meters in height and pleases with terry inflorescences of various colors.
  2. Fragrant Brugmansia is considered decorative. Its pale yellow or white flowers are just gorgeous. The rims, divided into five parts, are slightly curved along the edges.
  3. Magnificently blooms yellow, white, pale pink flowers Brugmansia Noticeable. The corollas of inflorescences hanging down open well, and thin, elongated leaves with wavy edges set off the beauty of the buds.
  4. Shrub belonging to the Golden species, reaches a height of two to four meters. Narrow dark green leaf plates and long curved flowers are the decoration of the shrub. In addition, a strong intoxicating smell emanates from the plant.
  5. Brugmansia Bloody is covered with scarlet flowers. This tree is unpretentious in care, it can tolerate light frosts.

Brugmansia is called multi-colored, which has the largest buds, up to thirty to fifty centimeters long. A feature of the flower is the gradual change in color of the buds from white to peach.

Common to all types of plants is its shape in the form of a bush or tree. Varieties of ornamental culture differ in the height of the tree-like trunk, but they are rarely less than two meters. This must be taken into account when growing a flower indoors. Best placed mature plant to the garden, creating special conditions for vegetation.

The propagation methods of ornamental culture include seed and vegetative.

Features of propagation using seeds:

  • Preparation of seeds for planting begins in February, soaking them in a growth biostimulator for a day or two.
  • Then, seeds are placed in the soil disinfected in advance, cover the container with a film and put it in a warm place.
  • During the germination period, plantings are ventilated and watered. They create good illumination so that the seedlings do not stretch out.
  • As soon as two true leaves appear on the sprouts, they dive, placing in individual containers. In this case, it is worth paying attention to the fact that the root neck of the stem during transplantation is above the ground level.

To better preserve the qualities of the Brugmansia variety, the method of reproduction is used -:

  • In autumn or early spring, cuttings are cut from strong shoots. Be sure to have four leaves on the branch. The top with two leaves is cut off, and the lower plates are shortened. Cuttings placed in water will take root while in a cool room.
  • It's time to transplant rooted shoots into pots filled with nutrient soil. After a secondary transplant, after fifteen to twenty days, pots with cuttings are put on window sills with north side Houses.
  • If the breeding procedure takes place in the spring, in early March, then many nodes form on the cuttings, and the roots appear faster. When the heat comes, the bushes are planted in open ground.

Brugmansia grown from seeds is characterized by the absence of varietal characteristics. But vegetative methods will give the offspring parental qualities to the fullest.

The flower is transplanted to a permanent place in the garden after the soil has warmed up to ten to fifteen degrees Celsius. The container with the plant is carefully examined, determining whether the flower is healthy or not. Then they are taken out into the air for adaptation.

The best place to plant an ornamental shrub is a well-lit area, well protected from the wind.

Prepare in advance landing pit bigger size than the tub in which the brugmansia was located. A nutrient soil mixture is placed in the pit, consisting of humus, peat and a small amount of river sand. The presence of humus in the soil is important for the plant.

Now it remains to carefully remove the bush from the container, clean its roots from damaged parts, and straighten it. Too thick rhizomes are best removed by sprinkling the cut with powder charcoal. After being placed in the pit, the plant is covered with soil, watered. You can leave Brugmansia in a tub, and when cold weather sets in, bring it into a house, greenhouse or conservatory.

Flower care: watering, fertilizing, pruning

To the basic care requirements ornamental shrub is the procedure for watering, fertilizing and pruning:

  1. Maintaining a moisturizing regime is abundant watering frequent during the growing season. If the weather is dry, then water twice a day - in the morning and in the evening. But usually a single moistening of the soil is enough.
  2. To fertilize the shrub use a solution of chicken manureprepared in a ratio of 1:12. Of the mineral complexes, those that contain potassium and phosphorus are suitable. Substances will stimulate the flowering of the plant. Fertilize once every two weeks.
  3. Every year, the removal of flower shoots growing below the first forks is carried out. Horizontal branches with many knots do not need to be removed, as they will give flower buds. Pruning is also carried out to form the crown of the tree.

As soon as the air temperature in the garden drops below five degrees Celsius, Brugmansia is brought into the house in a tub. If it is planted in open ground, then it is dug up, cut off and placed in buckets with neutral soil. Store the plant in basement with an air temperature of ten degrees Celsius. It is possible to leave decorative bushes on the street only in regions with a warm climate, covering the tree with spruce branches.

The poisonousness of the flowers and seeds of the plant is known, so for its maintenance it is necessary to allocate a large room in the house. But for Brugmansia, this quality is only good - it is rarely attacked by pests.

But pleasant aroma attracts insects, and they are ready to feast on the leaves, flowers of the plant. Among them:

  • whitefly
  • aphid
  • spider mite

Of the diseases, the gray rot fungus most often affects the plant.

The danger of the disease is that it can lead to the death of the flower. At first, the growth of shoots, flowers stops, the processes of photosynthesis slow down. During a wet summer, mycelium mycelium appears on the plant, and spores are carried to neighboring bushes and trees. The disease is determined by a grayish coating on the leaves.

A small number of foci of gray rot can be removed by treating with a mixture of chalk, taken one glass per bucket of water. Also add a teaspoon. blue vitriol. Severe damage is cured by spraying. Proper Care for a flower will save him from diseases and pests.

(Brugmansia) is amazing plant, which comes from the subtropical regions of Central and South America. It belongs to the Solanaceae family and is closely related to Datura (Datura). It was previously classified as a type of datura, and is still often referred to as datura or the datura tree. The greatest pride of this plant is its funnel-shaped, fragrant and very large flowers, which become an unsurpassed decoration. garden beds. Gorgeous plants, especially in full bloom, make a big impression. Placed in the garden, on the terrace or balcony, they will undoubtedly attract attention.

Brugmansia flower - description

Brugmansia is a perennial plant. She can take the form small tree or shrub and reach up to 4 meters in height. With age, old, thick woody stems grow rapidly, forming an expanding and branched crown. Large, up to 30 cm, ovate leaves, often densely covered with hairs arranged alternately along the stem. In June, the plant blooms with large, hanging funnel-shaped flowers, some varieties can have a flower up to 50 cm in length.

We can meet samples with flowers of different colors:

  • white,
  • cream,
  • yellow,
  • orange,
  • pink,
  • red.

As well as various forms inflorescence, it can be single or double. Most varieties have a very intense, but nice smell, which is most noticeable in the evening. Brugmansia blooms for a very long time, from early summer to late autumn. The fruits of the plant are round, woody boxes with a smooth surface.

In contrast to this plant, species belonging to the genus Datura (datura) are herbaceous annual plants forming a dense shrub. decorative forms the cups of the flower are directed upwards and the fruits are prickly, thanks to these features, we can easily distinguish between Datura and Brugmansia.

Varietal diversity of Brugmansia

The following varieties are mainly grown:

Brugmansia flower - planting and care in the open field

This plant is demanding and quite difficult to grow. Growing technology and basic care requirements should be strictly observed.

Brugmansia outdoors

  • Brugmansia - soil. The soil for growing should be fertile, contain humus, which is rich in nutrients and heats up quickly. The best will be medium moist soils, but they must be easily permeable, for this it is better to mix the soil with sand.
  • Location. The plant loves sunny or slightly shaded places. In full sun, flowering will be more effective, but only if you provide it with a constantly moist substrate. You should choose a sheltered location where the plant is not exposed to strong winds.
  • Heat and humidity requirements. Withstands high summer temperatures and strong sunlight, but we must remember to water regularly, even twice a day in extreme heat. Otherwise, the plant may lose leaves and flower buds. The plant is sensitive to low temperatures, therefore, in our climate, wintering should be provided in a room where the temperature does not fall below 0 ° C.

Brugmansia - cultivation and care

In cool climates, this plant does not winter in the garden in the open field. It is often grown in pots or in an earthen hole during the warmer months. Planted in the ground, it grows beautifully, but digging it up for the winter can cause some problems.

Wintering

Before winter comes, we must move the plant to a place protected from frost. Before the first frosts, no later than November, it is necessary to cut off the tops of the shoots well. The plant should be dug out of the open ground. Do not be afraid of damage to the roots, we can slightly reduce the root system. The plant is placed in a container, covered with slightly damp peat and placed in a dark, cool room. It is necessary to provide it with a temperature of about 5-8 ° C, watering from time to time. Should not be allowed to dry completely earthen clod with roots.

In late March - early April, we transfer it to a warmer and bright room. After that, we begin to water moderately, and after two weeks, we begin top dressing.

Another way of wintering is wintering in a warm room with access to sunshine. Plants do not completely shed their leaves. However, they require a dormant period, so we should reduce watering and fertilize every 4-5 weeks. Sometimes, however, with such a wintering in the next season, the plant blooms worse. Before planting a plant outside, it must be hardened off. It takes at least two weeks to get used to the conditions prevailing outside. In the evening, it should be hidden back in the building. Otherwise, the plant may shed its leaves as a result of the shock. Hardening should be continued until the end of May or until the middle in warmer climates, when there is no longer any risk of spring frosts.

Reproduction of Brugmansia from seeds and seedlings

Propagation and planting of Brugmansia is very simple. New plants can be obtained by sowing seeds or planting cuttings. Seeds are sown in February or March in separate containers. Before sowing, the seeds are soaked for 24 hours in warm water. The substrate must be constantly kept moist, and the pots should be placed in a bright, warm place.

Cropped autumn shoots are suitable for seedlings. Enough 15-20 cm shoot height. You can remove the bottom leaves and place the cuttings in a damp cellar or place in a pot of water. They should be in a warm place. In a month, new plants should take root. Then you need to transplant them into large pots filled with fertile soil. As the plants get older, trim the tops. Flowers usually appear the following year.

Growing problems

Yellowing and falling off autumn leaves and flower buds, as a rule, is caused by a lack of nutrients or water. Plants in greenhouses are often attacked by aphids, spider mites and whiteflies. As a result of damage leaf blades turn yellow and disappear. These pests can be removed in small quantities mechanically eg with a brush and a jet of water. If insects appear in significant numbers, it is difficult to fight them, and it is necessary to use appropriate chemicals. That is why early detection of pests is important.
