Cold insulation of the loggia. How to insulate a balcony with cold glazing. Warm balcony in peasant style

I still remember those times when in the Soviet Union they were not allowed to glaze a balcony (God, how long have I been living). Now this part of the housing without window frames and sheathing - mauvais ton. For the balconies of the central streets of large cities, a general style must be maintained, which is usually not difficult to follow. In general, today and only now - glazing and insulation of balconies.

How to properly insulate and glaze a balcony?

Proper insulation and glazing are high-quality processes that lead to a good result. You can not expect a miracle effect from the frames installed on the balcony, but without warming at least one parapet.

  1. Insulation and sheathing of the parapet.
  2. Balcony glazing.
  3. Floor insulation.
  4. Sheathing with heat-insulating materials of the ceiling of the balcony.

This option is easy to do. It is convenient and gives a good result, because if the balcony is insulated in stages, you can save it from heat loss as much as possible.

So, let's start.

Parapet insulation

The parapet, from the French fencing, in our country is usually metal. If the balcony is equipped with a parapet draped with wood (like my dad's), it has concrete slab outside, inserted into the grooves (apparently Soviet designers thought it was beautiful) or something else, all this needs to be dismantled.

We need a clean parapet, which is to be insulated. There are two options here:

  1. Sheathing on the outside, and then insulation and interior decoration.
  2. First, insulation, then sheathing outside and inside.

The effect should be the same, but the order of work is different.

The first version of the parapet insulation

Along the perimeter of the parapet (bottom and top, as well as on the sides) we make a frame. We insert the cut sheets of siding into it. It's easier to do horizontal mounting, but I don't mind vertical mounting either. When the balcony is sheathed with siding from the outside, it will be necessary to insert a heater.

With this option, it is better to work with roll insulation (fiberglass). For the characteristics of all heaters, see the appropriate section. Next, insulate the floor and ceiling, if necessary.

Now the balcony needs to be ennobled inside. In this matter, I usually choose plastic or kronospan. Installation is about the same as siding.

The second option for warming the parapet

We attach sheets of insulation to the parapet. It is better to go through the joints with liquid nails or foam. The job will take a couple of hours no more.

Now you need to sheathe the outer part, and then do interior decoration. I think that this option for warming balconies is more correct or something, at least I like it better. Now let's talk about what needs to be done in any case.

Balcony floor and ceiling insulation

Having spent nerves and strength on warming and ennobling the outer part of the balcony, it would be advisable to carry out lighter work on warming the floor and ceiling.

We get rid of the cracks on the floor, level the surface if possible, and then put the insulation. It can be rolled, it can be sheet, if there is money, then it can be liquid. The main thing is that the insulation fills the entire space of the balcony. We install sheet insulation on the ceiling.

In principle, in a day - a maximum of two, the insulation of the entire balcony can be completed. Glazing is next.

How to glaze a balcony?

Even I myself have never installed a double-glazed window. It’s not that it’s very difficult, but still there are certain nuances, and for balconies there are even more of them, since the frame will consist of at least three parts, or even more.

Used for glazing balconies

And the glazing itself can be divided into three main types:

  1. Cold.
  2. Panoramic.
  3. Sliding.

Balcony frames

Plastic double-glazed window is the most inexpensive and fairly durable option for glazing balconies. If the balcony does not become a full part of the apartment, then it will be enough to opt for one or two chamber double-glazed windows. Otherwise, windows should be more energy efficient.

It is interesting! An aluminum profile is indistinguishable from a plastic one from afar, but it is lighter (which means it is suitable for balconies where the floor slab is already subject to destruction), more durable and can be different colors. One or two glasses can be inserted into the aluminum frame, a thermostat must be present between the latter.

Wooden frames, if they are already many years old, retain heat poorly, they most likely look the same. But modern wood frames are, of course, style, beauty and, forgive me, a certain aesthetics. If you insert a high-quality double-glazed window into them, then the result of insulation will be no worse than from plastic or metal frames.

Well, now a little about the ways of glazing balconies.

Cold frames

Honestly, now I have not met people who would need cold glazing, its options: single glass in

  • wooden frame,
  • aluminum profile.

If the idea comes to glaze the balcony in this way, then it will not be necessary to do the insulation in it, at least, it will not be necessary to do it carefully.

Panoramic glazing

I really like panoramic balconies, but you can’t make a pantry out of them. Such a balcony should be, in my opinion, in perfect order and without unnecessary details (in the form of a bicycle, wet laundry or refrigerator boxes).

Panoramic glazing can be full (to the entire height of the balcony) or partial (from the parapet to the ceiling). In any case, frames are not needed here, and glasses with a thickness of 6 mm or more must be treated with metal oxide.

  • how exactly the glass is set,
  • do they open well?
  • how wide is the window sill and so on.

Sliding glazing

The principle of movement of windows, as in wardrobes. It is believed that it is advisable to install such frames where there is no way to normally open pivot windows.

It is important! The only negative is that when frost sets in immediately after the rainy season, the guides (more precisely, the roller mechanism) can freeze, so movement will be either difficult or impossible at all. But honestly, I have not met those who would complain about such difficulties.

Well, I think that he told everything he knew about the insulation and glazing of balconies. For more details on the nuances of insulation, see the relevant sections.

The material that appeared is not very given, but quickly became popular with owners of private houses. Ecowool has excellent performance in terms of thermal insulation and sound absorption. Produced as rigid panels, it is easily attached to any base and does not “shrink” over time, demonstrating a long service life. Ecowool does not rot, fungus or mold does not appear on it. The composition of the material includes boric acid and borax, which makes it non-flammable

In comparison with mineral wool, ecowool has an important advantage - it is completely environmentally friendly for both humans and the environment. There is only one “minus” for this material - due to its physical indicators (in particular, rigidity), special equipment is required for installation.

Reasons for the popularity of cold aluminum glazing

Cold glazing has enough advantages:

  • Aluminum systems are cheaper than plastic windows of similar size and are comparable in price to wooden windows. Where serious insulation is not required, there is a weight limit, they are out of competition.
  • Narrow frames allow light to penetrate, the usual profile width is 35 mm. The use of sliding doors does not take up extra space, and the presence of special latches in the open and closed position makes them safe to use. Due to the stable temperature difference of several degrees with the surrounding air, the glazed balcony can be used for growing seedlings in early spring, and during the summer it will also serve as a small greenhouse for cucumbers, tomatoes and fresh herbs.
  • Aluminum frames do not require any maintenance, if they are installed correctly, they can easily last for decades. This material does not crack, does not deform, is fireproof, and is not afraid of acid rain.
  • Even without additional heat and noise insulation, the level of external noise is reduced by 6-10 dB. For a tighter fit of the sliding doors, silicone and pile seals are used, and the joints of the aluminum profiles themselves are additionally insulated with rubber gaskets that ensure the tightness of the balcony or loggia.
  • A glazed balcony is a reliable barrier against dust, dirt and drafts that enter your apartment. At the same time, the natural ventilation of the room is maintained. Mosquito nets are available as an option for all sliding doors.
  • The low weight of aluminum frames allows them to be used in old houses, where the bearing load of the balcony slab can be up to 50% of the new one due to age and fatigue of metal and concrete. This includes all p-shaped, l-shaped balconies, loggias, bay windows. And in wooden houses this type of glazing is generally the only possible one. Due to the lightness of aluminum, it became possible to use remote elements on balconies, to make structures of non-standard shape.

But there are also disadvantages of cold glazing of balconies and loggias:

  • Insufficient tightness compared to traditional plastic windows. Partially it can be solved through the use of hinged windows and additional seals.
  • Thermal insulation is insufficient, especially in winter time of the year. The solution could be to use warm systems with double glazing.
  • Ice buildup in sliding mechanism windows leads to jamming.

Cold and warm glazing of the loggia

Window out aluminum profile will not be able to retain heat at the proper level, therefore such glazing is called "cold". In winter, a loggia (balcony) with such glazing cannot be used as additional living space due to the so-called cold bridges. Through them, the air inside will be cooled. In order for the loggia to be fully used as a study or a winter garden, “warm” glazing is used, which provides for the installation of plastic windows. The advantage of PVC structures is a high degree of thermal insulation, however, a “cold” aluminum window is much cheaper during installation. Thus, when choosing the type of glazing, it is necessary to decide how the loggia will ultimately be used.

Of course, you can make the insulation yourself, however, so that the balcony or loggia is not only long time were a reliable shield from the cold, but also pleased the eye with a neat appearance, it is advisable to seek help from professionals. The company "RemOknaService" will perform all the necessary work, you will only have to enjoy the comfort of home, looking through warm window for bad weather or winter cold!

Aluminum sliding systems on the loggia design characteristics

It is necessary to take into account the tension of bolts, self-tapping screws, which are fixed directly to the base of the structure, since aluminum is subject to mechanical stress.

Extruded aluminum gives the structure lightness and strength, while polyester powder coating protects the balcony frame from atmospheric precipitation. Powder coated profile is standard white.

Important! The profile for folding windows is a complete frame. The sashes of the product move along the guide, which is firmly attached to the base of the concrete partition of the balcony

For a smooth ride of the wheels, it is better to purchase a roller device with a rubberized base.

Profile frame

To remove the condensate that forms in the openings of the guide profile, special holes are provided. Such equipment prevents the structure and mechanism from freezing, which contributes to the extension operational life the whole structure.

Aluminum systems for balconies are of the following types:

  • Folding. An aluminum sliding is located along the sash, providing a "ventilation" mode.
  • Rollback. Aluminum slides on the balcony are mounted in a horizontal position along the guide panel.
  • Swivel. This kind of glazing is equipped with special spherical-type fittings, which can rotate both inward and outward.
  • Blind glazing. This type of balcony glazing is used if it is an area that is little used.

It's actually real

Warming a loggia with aluminum windows is just as real as doing a double somersault. Yes, it will cause a little trouble, but patience and work will grind everything. You will need a little knowledge and my experience, which I am happy to share right now.

Many people say that the efficiency of insulation drops every time you want to increase the amount of glazing in a room. I assure you that this is not the case, and if you rented or bought an area that becomes very cold due to the large number of windows, you can also insulate them.

A simple solution, which may not seem entirely reasonable, is to close part of the glass. For some, this seems like nonsense, although this option has the right to exist. If you do not need to create an extensive view from the window, and panoramic glazing on the loggia was not your idea, then nothing will stop you. Of course, with a high degree of probability, you lose the internal volume of the room, but it does not disappear, but only begins to serve you in a different role.

I am not telling now that you will need to completely clean the entire lower part of the balcony. I came across cases when we sewed up a window together with glass. By insulating it on both sides, you will thus get a wall of insulation, which will keep the high temperature in the room much better.

But, before resorting to such drastic measures, think twice whether you need it so as not to throw money away

It is also worth paying attention to whether this interferes mechanical action opening windows. Agree that it will not be very cool to sew up the lower part of the balcony so that the upper one cannot open

If this loggia is constantly heated, it will be good. Another thing is that if you heat the existing one, the same will be good. It all depends on the price difference, which is cheaper to heat a cold loggia. Or less heat insulated + the price of insulation. I would insulate ceilings, walls, parapet. I didn't touch the glass. Somehow I tried to figure it out. It seems that insulation pays off in 10 years, provided that you heat it with an electric underfloor heating for 3 months a year.

Order windows, find out prices, find out our advantages. St. Petersburg

Don't scare your friend. It looks like an ordinary facade - installation of thermal bridges + installation of packages, incl. and on floors + competent insulation of junctions + normally calculated heating. In terms of cost, such an undertaking per m2 will approach the cost of m2 of the housing itself and you will not legitimize this modernization in any way. But when did that stop our man?

I don't want this balcony to be 100% insulated. I will be satisfied with the replacement of double-glazed windows and the usual ordinary insulation (without removing the battery, because this is a gross violation). I'm just going to normally sheathe the balcony with thermal insulation, put it in order, make a warm floor and an outlet. Put an oil cooler in there. These double-glazed windows that stand, even now they can’t be washed normally. It's unrealistic. The window opens only in one place, and there is also glazing on the sides. Only if you build some kind of L-shaped stick (although it is also unrealistic). Bad soundproofing. I’m thinking that if you find a company that installed this glazing during construction, they will probably be able to do everything competently and without problems? But how to find it?

Installation of objects and alteration - two big differences. Usually those who glaze objects absolutely do not know how and do not want to work with private traders.

Nerves rust because of steel. ! But I'm tucking flares into my boots! !!!

In fact, most companies that glaze loggias have “court” divisions-firms that deal with this issue. They sit or their business cards are in the office of the Criminal Code, or the GI of the building must know which door to knock on. Sometimes even difficulties arise for a third-party company to enter a “foreign” house. Regarding the washing of facade glazing - this is the responsibility of the Criminal Code. Should be washed twice a year. I can’t tell you the document offhand, I remember that in Moscow it was a regional NA from the mayor. Another mayor.

Insulation of aluminum window structures

When an aluminum frame is used for glazing, some of its properties cannot be ignored: along with high strength, lightness and low price, given material It has high thermal conductivity, which not everyone considers a positive characteristic.

The aluminum profile forms vertical posts and horizontal crossbars, thus, the glazing contour is divided into sectors. Inside each sector, either a window with opening sashes, or a “blank” glass (fixed), or an opaque panel is installed.

In some cases, a balcony or loggia is equipped with single panes inserted into an aluminum profile. The cost of such structures is low. However, all costs for insulation are borne by the tenants.

There are several options for insulating such a window:

Insulation of aluminum windows by installing a second row of glazing is the cheapest and in a simple way save the balcony from freezing, and also provides a good level of sound insulation. This technique is also used when it is not possible to dismantle the aluminum profile that your loggia is equipped with. However, this method has a disadvantage. A window closed with an internal thermal circuit is quite difficult to clean, and not every loggia can withstand a large mass of glazing. As a result, this method is rarely used.

In some cases, the loggia is completely freed from glazing: the entire aluminum frame is removed, and a “warm” contour is installed in its place. But insulation in this way is possible if the loggia or balcony has independent glazing within one floor.

With through glazing covering several floors, in order to insulate the window, the third method is most often used. Opening sashes are being replaced on a PVC window structure, and “blind” glasses are removed, and double-glazed windows are mounted in their place. Then, with the help of sandwich panels, the remaining sections of the old glazing are insulated.

If the insulation is carried out in this way, then the loggia and balcony can be safely used as a pleasant addition to the living space all year round.

Varieties of glazing sliding structures

Given the structural characteristics and principle of operation, windows can be divided into types:

  • Construction with rail profiles. The sashes of the product move directly along the profile. For convenient use, there is an inactive transom next to the active window component.
  • Sliding devices. To open the window, it should be pulled with a little effort towards you, after which the transom will easily move apart.

Important! Retractable design is the optimal variation for glazing loggias, since such products have excellent thermal insulation properties due to their tightness. .

According to the type of material used for the profile, the following types of windows are distinguished:

  • Rollback plastic windows. This design is the most common, as it is famous for its efficiency, operational qualities and accessibility. sliding windows made of plastic have long term operation, stable to external factors and do not require special care. Some manufacturers in the production of such windows install additional reinforcement in the “skeleton” of the product, which helps to strengthen the plastic window.
  • Wooden structures. They are quite attractive, but have a significant drawback - they are exposed to external factors. With an excess of moisture, the wood profile tends to deform, which negatively affects the functionality sliding systems. Sliding windows made of wood are in the same price category as aluminum prototypes.
  • Aluminum profile. Such material has excellent characteristics and resistance to rust. Due to the presence of such characteristics, aluminum windows are the best variation for glazing loggias. The aluminum block has a long service life and is distinguished by the environmental friendliness of the material. Aluminum sliding windows mounted, as a rule, with cold glazing.

Insulation of seams between window frames and wall

Seams are the weak point in window construction. They can pass moisture, wind. Glasses constantly fog up. A fungus appears at the junctions,. To obtain tight joints, you must perform a number of actions:

  1. Clean the seams around the perimeter from paint, plaster, sealant, old mounting foam. You will need a spatula with a width of 100 - 150 mm.
  2. Carefully inspect the seams for gaps and empty spaces.
  3. Fill the voids in the joints with mounting foam. Curing time 24 hours.
  4. Glue the joints with a protective tape that protects them from getting wet.
  5. Seal the seams. The method depends on further work. You can putty, paint or install plastic flashings. If it is planned to insulate the side walls, then additional finishing steps are not required.

Important! Mounting foam is available in two versions: for summer and winter use. This must be taken into account

Options for floor insulation on the balcony

Warm floors are usually installed after heating has been carried out on the balcony. To begin with, pipes are run from the battery that will heat the floor, then insulation material, preferably mineral wool, is placed between them. After that, wooden bars are placed on top of the system.

Warm floors are of several types:

  • electric floors;
  • hydropoles.

The first option involves the use of a thermostat and a floor sensor. The second option is based on the use of pipes through which heated water flows.

Insulating if you want to turn a balcony into a living space is definitely worth it. It is necessary to carefully study all the advantages and disadvantages of insulation materials before starting installation.

Various ways of warming

To keep warm and cozy in your home, care should be taken to ensure that there are as few sources of cold air as possible. Such sources are old windows, and sometimes new ones worn out by time. If the windows are well insulated, then no wind and low temperature will be fearless to you.

Let's look at the basic and most effective principles by which you should do-it-yourself window sealing.

  1. A budget option for sealing cracks that have formed when a window, window or balcony door is not tightly closed is to use a sealing tape. They are different thickness, so they can be selected required size cracks. Thus, you seal the windows well and do not change the external aesthetic appearance at all.
  2. All cracks and joints in the window frame and the junction of the window with the slopes are clogged with foam rubber or cotton wool. To prevent them from falling out and have a more attractive appearance, masking tape is glued on top.
  3. To seal cracks and joints, you can also use a "porridge" of moistened toilet paper or newspaper. The paper is lowered into the water, after which all the water is squeezed out, and the finished material is hammered into the right place. Tape the top with masking tape or tape. Such a strange mixture holds heat very well, as it has a rather high density.

Very convenient is self-adhesive foam rubber, which is designed to insulate old windows. Thanks to the installed adhesive surface, installation is very easy and fast.

It is sold in construction and hardware stores, rolls of several meters.

  • Covering the seams with plasticine or window putty is an effective method, but rather inconvenient. To then remove the entire sealing mixture, it will be necessary to work hard and spend a lot of time.
  • If there is no foam rubber or cotton wool at hand, you can simply close all the cracks polyethylene film. Polyethylene does not allow air to pass through and is able to hold temperature well. Only such a film should be glued very high quality and not leave gaps.

Facade insulation technology with a ventilated gap between the insulation and exterior finish ventilated facades

Modern technology, which is increasingly used for the insulation of buildings for various purposes. The system itself consists of a frame made of metal profiles and fixed directly on the wall of the building, and finishing decorative panels, which can be made of different materials. The main feature of this system is the presence of a ventilated gap between the insulation and finishing panels. Due to the constant air circulation in this gap, condensate does not settle on the internal surfaces of the system, which means that the insulation is also protected. This prolongs its service life and the walls of the building, which also affects the duration of maintenance-free operation of the ventilated façade.

In addition to excellent heat-saving properties, such a system is also distinguished by high sound-proofing qualities. And the ability to apply for exterior finish Panels made of different materials in different color schemes allow each building to have a special, often unique look. All materials used for the manufacture of decorative finishing panels are highly resistant to external influences - both chemical and mechanical. They are not destroyed by precipitation, temperature changes and ultraviolet radiation, and have a long service life - up to 50 years.

Insulation of sliding window structures on the balcony

For the effective use of a glazed balcony the best option is the use of retractable systems. But here an important question arises, how and with what to insulate the sliding windows on the balcony?

First of all, in order to insulate balcony sliding products, it is necessary to take into account the principle of their operation. plow open window blocks can according to the following principles:

  • Movement of transoms along parallel guide profiles with the help of wheels.
  • The transom first extends straight, and only then does it move to the side.
  • The sash moves upward along the plumb lines.

Of course, it is possible to entrust the laymen to insulate window sliding transoms, but this will cost a pretty penny and the result will not always be good.

Important! All manipulations for the insulation of a balcony with glazing can be done with your own hands. The main condition is that all work is carried out in warm weather.

When performing work, you should not lose sight of safety precautions, you should also study the technology and take into account all the likely results of insulation work in the presence of a product warranty period.

Insulation progress:

  • preparatory manipulations. Such work involves the removal of old sealant or foam. You also need to remove dirt and grease from the surface.
  • Determination of places where cold air enters. You can install them with your hand or the fire of a lighter. For sealing use foam, sealant or adhesive tape.
  • In addition to the frame contour, it is possible to insulate the line adjoining the profile with the window sill, slopes, ebbs.
  • It is necessary to assess the technical condition of the mechanism by which plowing is carried out, since in most cases heat loss occurs due to incorrect installation or operation of windows.

The seal tends to wear out

Important! The cause of heat loss may be the wear of the seal, replacing which all problems disappear.

Mineral wool

It is used not only for insulation of facades of any type, but also for thermal insulation of the foundation and roof of buildings, ceilings, window and door blocks and pipes. It is produced in rolls or in the form of plates of various sizes.

For thermal insulation of an aluminum facade, it is best to use semi-rigid mineral wool in the form of 50x100 cm slabs. The use of such small slabs is due to the ease of their installation and the fact that over time, larger slabs under their own weight can begin to “slide” down the facade, as a result of which its upper part will remain uninsulated.

The main advantages of mineral wool, in addition to ease of installation and versatility, are also considered to be low thermal conductivity and long service life. As for the disadvantages of this material, the main one is the high ability to absorb moisture. Even steam penetrating through the walls of the house is able to moisten the mineral wool, from which it will cease to perform its main function - to keep warm

Therefore, when installing this insulation, special attention should be paid to its protection from moisture with the help of waterproofing and vapor barrier materials. In this case, mineral wool will last a long time and will reliably protect the house from heat loss.

Is it high-rise work

Yes, you might wonder why the insulation of aluminum balconies is high-altitude work, because the process is entirely carried out from inside the room. This is true, but in the event that you are the owner of a panoramic structure that has already been fully installed, and you decided to keep the heat only a few years later, then it is subject to complete dismantling. Not many construction teams will dare to remove the windows on the sixteenth floor of a high-rise building in the cold, and even with a possible strong wind.

In my short story, which I cited a little higher, the situation was just such that not every master who does not have experience working at height will give the go-ahead to carry out such work. And since such a phobia is the most common after the fear of the dark, finding someone with enough courage will not be easy.

Additional glazing work

In addition to installing double-glazed windows, it is necessary to eliminate the gaps in those places where the frames adjoin the wall. This will ensure the tightness of the glazing, protect the room from moisture, drafts and heat leakage.

The gaps between the frames and the parapet or wall must be sealed with foamed polyethylene, polystyrene or a special sealant and filled with polyurethane sealants.

Sealing seams with polyurethane foam when insulating a balcony

Since insulation, as well as additional glazing, takes up quite a lot of space, expansion profiles are installed on the frames (top and sides).

Floor insulation

For the insulation of load-bearing structures, a variety of materials can be used, among which mineral wool, foam plastic and polystyrene foam (foam foam) are especially common. All of the above types of insulation are characterized by low thermal conductivity and allow you to reliably isolate the internal spaces of the balcony from cold air. The solution to this problem is best to start with floor insulation, which can be protected by a multi-layer coating system that includes heat-insulating plates (mineral wool or any other synthetic insulation).

The order of operations performed in this case will look like this:

  • First you need to decide on the thickness of the insulating layer, since the height of the parapet will depend on this. According to building codes, it should not be less than 95 cm (if there are small children in the family - at least 105 cm).
  • Based on the measurements obtained, a set of bars of the required thickness should be prepared, which are then laid across the floor at a distance of about 50 cm from one another.
  • On top of these bars, longitudinal logs are placed in such a way that their ends do not rest against the parapet. In this case, the distance between the lags themselves and the balcony railing should be about 7 cm (on each side).
  • Then, in the intervals between the lags, it is necessary to lay the plates of the insulation of your choice, covering them from above with chipboard sheets, which are subsequently attached to the lags by means of self-tapping screws.

As a result of the operations performed, you will receive an insulated subfloor, which is later laid finish coating. If desired, you can use a system of special heating elements to insulate the floor (the so-called "warm floor").

Is it worth replacing the glass?

Many users may wonder: why insulate a loggia with cold glazing? Warming in the manner described above will help to reliably protect the structure, improve its quality, however, it will still be impossible to call such a balcony warm. Most of the heat will escape through aluminum frames or insufficiently thick double-glazed windows, if we are talking about plastic windows. Therefore, if you need a really warm balcony, which can be heated and which can be made part of the living space, you will need to completely replace the cold glazing of the facade with a warm one.

How to insulate balcony windows

AT winter period even a glazed balcony can freeze through, especially if there are severe frosts. To make it warmer on the balcony, you need to think about how to insulate the windows of the balcony when the autumn cold sets in. The insulation procedure depends on the type of windows.

Warming wooden windows

Wooden windows are environmentally friendly and completely safe. They easily let air into the room. You can insulate wooden balcony windows with the following materials:

1. wet paper. This method of window insulation is very cheap. Wet paper is pushed into the slots and then the sealed slots are glued with strips of paper from above.

2. Foam rubber. The foam rubber cut into pieces is placed in the window slots. From above, the gaps are sealed with pieces of fabric.

3. Sealant and sealant. This method of warming wooden windows is quite reliable and effective. The windows must be removed from the hinges and a groove cut along the perimeter of the sash. After that, a sealant is installed, and a sealant is laid at the junction of the glass to the wooden doors. The assembled window structure is put back in place.

4. Roller shutter installation. Such shutters are able to keep about 15% of the heat in the room.

5. Special putty. It is prepared from chalk and plaster. All window slots are carefully smeared with finished putty.

Stages of work

You call a specialist by contact number or using the feedback form on the site, he arrives within 60 minutes, does necessary measurements and decides with you which technology is best for insulating aluminum windows.

The cost of services for the insulation of aluminum windows

Window insulation

Insulation of window frames is necessary if the sealant layer at the joints of the frames turned out to be insufficient, and through them penetrates into the room cold air. In order to make sure of this, it is enough to bring your palm to the seam in windy and cold weather and determine the presence of air draft.

Windows are insulated by additional sealing of joints around the entire perimeter of the frame (from the inside and outer side) using a special polyurethane sealant.

In the event that you have plastic windows installed on your balcony, you most likely will not need any additional steps to insulate them.

Styrofoam

Most often used for insulation of facades, and not only aluminum. The main reasons for its popularity are affordability (it costs several times less than other heaters with similar qualities), ease of installation, excellent heat-saving performance and low ability to absorb moisture. Styrofoam is characterized by both high rigidity, light weight and ease of attachment to any base using special glue and dowels. You can install it at any time of the year and in any weather.

But foam plastic has several drawbacks that do not allow us to call it an ideal insulation for an aluminum facade. The main "minus" of the material is its not too long service life compared to the facade itself. The maximum period during which the foam is able to maintain its functions is 15 years, while aluminum panels serve at least 20-25 years. This means that as soon as the life of the insulation comes to an end, the facade will have to be dismantled to replace the heat-insulating layer. Another significant disadvantage of polystyrene is its low vapor permeability, which inevitably leads to an increase in indoor air humidity (“thermos effect”).

Wall and ceiling insulation

For wall insulation, you can use the following components:

  1. Penofol.
  2. Wooden bars.
  3. High density foam.
  4. Mounting foam.

To strengthen the balcony, see the video:

Walls requiring insulation are sheathed with penofol. The crate is usually made of a 50x50 mm bar. For convenience, the step between the bars can be made consistent with the width of the filler. The foam is placed between the bars and attached to the wall with plastic "fungi". The cracks formed during installation are also sealed with mounting foam. As a sheathing, you can use eurolining or imitation timber. Plastic panels are also suitable for wall cladding.

Modern ways

Insulation of windows using Swedish technology: modern methods of insulation have advanced very far. To insulate glass with their own hands, use a heat-reflecting film, devices for electric heating window panes and ram.

Aluminum frames are sealed with modern mounting foams and sealants that perform their function perfectly and can get into the deepest and narrowest cracks. In addition, using sealants, you can hide all traces of such insulation.

Window insulation according to Swedish technology is possible for wooden window frames. The double-glazed window is removed and put aside. In the place where the window frame is in contact with the sash, a groove is cut using a special electric cutter. Then the sealing tape is installed in this groove. After the window is put back on.

swedish technology

Insulation of windows using Swedish technology has a rather good effect on the final quality. But a cutter can not be found in every home, and some skills will be required to use it yourself, so it is better to entrust the work to a professional. The whole installation process is quite fast, and is perfect for a sudden onset of cold weather.

When insulating the cracks with special sealants, carry out the whole process carefully, leaving no gaps. You will not save on this, and the quality of the work done will be much worse. Always insulate the joints under the windowsill with polyurethane foam.

Very often, it is through them that a lot of cold sweats get in, since everyone forgets about them. Aluminum frames, it is not recommended to insulate with electric thermal systems.

When insulating the seams with your own hands using foam rubber or cotton wool, try to seal them as much as possible at the joints. fixing masking tape, overlap the pieces of livestock to prevent air seepage.

If the tape doesn't want to stick properly and keeps peeling off, you can use regular strips of paper. Using a generous amount of glue, secure the paper in place.

Using the balcony as a place for a cozy pastime or as a workplace, you should take care of its warmth. A very good way to insulate a balcony is to seal the windows with your own hands. Do not forget that all insulation work should be carried out carefully and without gaps, so that there is a maximum effect from the work done. A wide range of different materials helps to choose what is necessary for you and make the insulation as high quality and efficient as possible.

The use of aluminum profiles in the glazing of balconies and loggias

Glazing of balconies can be carried out with both plastic and aluminum structures. This is a real opportunity to create additional space that can be used for its intended purpose. Both options have significant differences in installation technology, their practical properties and in the final cost for the customer. So plastic windows are initially more massive, but they have better protective properties. Aluminum balcony - lighter and cheaper. In terms of installation, the balcony differs from the loggia in the presence of 3 sides of glazing and has a maximum load limit, so it is advisable to use lightweight materials such as aluminum profiles.

Wall and ceiling insulation

After the floor insulation work is completed, you can deal with the walls. Insulating cold aluminum glazing in this way will help contain the cold coming from the walls and ceiling, but will not be able to create a completely hermetic structure, since some of the heat will still escape through the frames and glass. Work is carried out on the same principle as floor insulation: a wooden crate is created, the cells are filled with insulation, then the sheathing is mounted, and plasterboard sheets can also be used.

If the fence is metal, then you will have to deal with it exterior trim, otherwise the cold will still come. You can use siding for this. In addition, you can replace the fence with a stone one. Use recommended lightweight material, such as a foam block. Do not forget about the ceiling. Warm air will rise up, so if the ceiling is not insulated, heat will escape through it. If the lower floors can simply insulate the slab above them, then the upper floor will have to equip an insulated visor. It can be attached to the wall of a building or made on columns.

Covering walls with thermal insulation

Replacement with a warm aluminum profile

More radical is the replacement of the existing glazing with a "warm" aluminum profile - a structure with opening elements made of PVC or other plastic with a low thermal conductivity. Thanks to this, the aluminum profile of the window does not freeze through, since cold bridges are not formed. “The warm aluminum profile used for balcony windows can have 2nd or 3rd glazing or a double-glazed window like PVC windows.

For the southern and middle latitudes, such a replacement can be an excellent way out, since it is not a particular problem to choose an aluminum profile that matches the width and color. Externally, from the side of the facade of the building, such a window will not stand out among similar ones. Is that a different brilliance of glass.

But for northern latitudes, even a “warm” aluminum profile for insulation is not suitable. He still freezes. If there is heating on the balcony, then ice and icicles form very quickly on the windows and frames.

This is due to the fact that the dew point is shifted towards the balcony and water vapor condenses and freezes inside the balcony.

The low thermal insulation properties of aluminum windows are inherent in the very design of the manufacturer of the most popular in Russia window systems: Provedal (Provedal Sistemas, Spain).

Floor insulation

Penofol can be used as insulation

An important ingredient in getting warm room is floor insulation. For better thermal insulation, you can use the following materials:

  1. Penofol.
  2. Electric floor insulation.
  3. The beam is wooden.
  4. Styrofoam or mineral wool.
  5. Mounting foam.
  6. Floor board.

Foil penofol is laid on the surface of the concrete floor. This material has excellent insulating properties. It will not allow condensation to accumulate in the thickness of the floor, providing oxygen access to prevent the appearance of moisture and fungus. The next step is to install an electric underfloor heating.

Underfloor heating - one of the options for insulating a balcony

The thickness of the lag sets the size of the insulation layer. The larger its layer, the better thermal insulation. When installing, it is necessary to take into account the height from the future floor to the parapet. In the standard version, it ranges from 95 to 105 cm. The safety of a person on the balcony is always in the foreground, so you need to choose the thickness of the lag, taking into account the height of the floor construction pie.

Parallel to each other in the same plane are installed wooden bars in increments of 30-40 cm. Mineral wool or polystyrene is laid between them. All gaps formed during the laying process can be sealed with mounting foam. In the winter season, a special mounting foam is used, which has the properties of hardening when low temperatures air.

A floorboard is laid on the laid logs for painting and varnishing. You can use draft wood with the subsequent laying of any finishing material on it.

Styrofoam is a standard solution for creating a heat-insulating layer

Perhaps the foam is used most often, and not only in the case of aluminum siding insulation. The popularity of the material provided it affordable price and easy installation. About its advantages and disadvantages as a heater for an aluminum facade below.

Let's start with the benefits:

  1. Styrofoam is a material that can be insulated without the help of professional builders regardless of the weather outside.
  2. With sufficient rigidity, the material is one of the lightest, while it is securely attached to the walls of aluminum facades with the help of modern adhesives and additionally used dowels.
  3. The price of polystyrene is an order of magnitude less than the price of similar heaters.
  4. The material exhibits minimal moisture absorption and excellent thermal conductivity.

Among the shortcomings can be noted:

  1. Limited service life, which is especially important, given the durability of the aluminum facade (insulation will last no more than 15 years, after which it will be necessary to dismantle the panels and replace the thermal insulation layer).
  2. Low vapor permeability, which leads to a violation of the process of air exchange in the room and the creation of the effect of a thermos in increased release of moisture.

Obtaining a permit for glazing a balcony

There is no clear legal regulatory framework for the issue of glazing balconies, so it is difficult to answer whether it is necessary to declare this and whether there is any point in the costly execution of permits. The current legislation provides for the formalization procedure repair work in a number of instances during redevelopment in apartments. The installation, dismantling, repainting and reconfiguration of balcony frames do not qualify as reconstruction or redevelopment work, therefore the possibility of their implementation and the legality of installation is determined by local officials or representatives of architectural services. Complaints to the owners may arise if during the modernization the color of the entire profile frame or the shape of the window frames are changed.

Legal aspect of changing the facade of the building

Any changes made to the enclosing structures of the facade of the building (and these include the parapets of balconies), as well as glazing that does not correspond to the general architectural concept, require permission from local executive authorities.

Appropriate regulations have been adopted at the level of each subject of the Federation.

In Moscow, this is Government Decree No. 508 of October 25, 2011 “On the organization of the reconstruction and (or) redevelopment of residential and non-residential premises in apartment buildings". One of the points of this Decree provides for mandatory obtaining of permission if “- the shape of window and door openings in external enclosing structures changes;).

The procedure for obtaining such a permit consists of five successive stages and the approval of about 40 documents.

Service cost law firms(in Moscow), providing services for the coordination of facade changes for a full package is about 1,000,000 rubles.
There is something to think about.

Thermal insulation materials

High-quality glazing and insulation of loggias and balconies is impossible without a properly selected heat-insulating material. It must meet the following requirements:

  • be moisture resistant and breathable:
  • do not create additional load on the floors;
  • have low thermal conductivity.

Presented on the market big choice materials for insulation, but they are not universal.

Expanded polystyrene plates are an excellent heat insulator, withstand mechanical stress well, and are light in weight. But they have low vapor permeability and poor soundproofing qualities. In addition, this material has limitations in use due to flammability.

Balcony insulation with polystyrene foam sheets

Mineral wool is absolutely non-combustible, has low thermal conductivity. But with insufficient waterproofing under the influence of dampness, it can quickly lose its thermal insulation properties.

Balcony insulation with mineral wool

Penofol is a roll insulation consisting of a reflective layer and a base. It is easy to install, water resistant, heat reflective, rot and fire resistant. This is the best choice if you need reliable and durable glazing and insulation of loggias, the price of the material is offset by excellent performance.

Insulation of the balcony with penofol

Let's go straight to work

Before insulating a loggia with aluminum glazing, you need to make some preparatory steps, without which the insulation may be useless.

  1. Clean the entire aluminum profile from unnecessary elements. Remains of putty, mounting foam or other construction debris - remove all this. In small quantities, they will not greatly affect energy saving, but the inconvenience during installation will be obvious.
  2. Seal any unnecessary holes or gaps in the profiles. It often happens that when installing the frame, a screwdriver could come off or a grinder could slip off. There were no defects of this magnitude to throw away or cut off a part, but when warming you can suffer a little. Ordinary sealant will help you solve this problem.
  3. Choose a heater. In this case, since the process will be associated with small items, many experienced builders suggest using ordinary building foam. I do not recommend resorting to such drastic methods due to the fact that it can deform the frame, which will create unnecessary problems when installing the windows themselves. The most adequate, as for me, is the use of mineral wool. In this case, you can purchase a roll instead of plates, which will be cheaper, and fill all the cavities in the same way.
  4. Prepare the instrument. In the event that you use mounting foam, all you need is a special gun into which the balloon is inserted. If your finger fell on mineral wool, then a small spatula, a clerical knife and a tape measure will be enough.

If you do not know how to fill in the foam correctly, you can see how to do it in the video below:

So, we decided that there are two material options with which we can insulate an aluminum balcony - this is foam and cotton wool. A few notes to keep in mind when working with the first one:

  • do not overdo it, because a large amount of material can lead to deformation of the profile itself;
  • buy more construction foam than you need. You see, if it is not enough, then it will be an order of magnitude worse than the case when it remains. It should dry all at the same time, and not in parts after re-purchase. Let it stay better, because it can always come in handy;
  • pour the profile evenly and penetrate into all the cracks. Only in this way will you achieve maximum results.

If, when insulating an aluminum loggia, you use my choice, which appears in the form of mineral wool, then do not forget that correct calculations help you save a lot. The main advantage is that you will not affect the size, shape or stability of the aluminum frame itself in any way. We calculated how much to cut off, cut it off, placed it, adjusted it with a spatula - and voila! All is ready!

Application of warm aluminum systems

You can perform warm glazing of the balcony as plastic structures, and special insulated aluminum profiles.

The advantage of light-alloy material in the construction of the window is the compactness of the installation and less weight with similar thermal insulation properties.

The use of a thermal break in the profile design makes it similar in its properties to plastic double-glazed windows. Before proceeding with the installation of window blocks, it is necessary to carefully insulate the floor, walls and ceiling of the loggia. Provide for the possibility of outputting an additional heating radiator or installing a warm floor. Thus, it becomes possible to combine a room with a loggia and expand the living space. And for designers, this is a great way to freshen up the interior of a room.

Advantages of warm glazing

Consider the main advantages of warm glazing:

  • Possibility to join additional area, come up with an interesting balcony design. For example, panoramic glazing, "French balcony". A great way to arrange a greenhouse that will delight even in the winter cold.
  • Maximum comfort thanks to excellent thermal and acoustic insulation. A minimum of dust and moisture will penetrate the room.
  • Durability and structural strength. Having installed once in a proven company, you will forget about your balcony for many years.
  • Aesthetic appearance and affordable price makes such systems popular even among poor people.
  • The weight of the structure will still be less than that of a plastic window.

Disadvantages of warm glazing

However, warm balconies have disadvantages:

  • The greater weight of window frames and insulation used for wall and flow decoration does not always allow the use of such structures. Installation should always be preceded by a preliminary calculation bearing capacity balcony or loggia slabs.
  • The large thickness of heat-insulating materials eats up the internal volume of the room. Impossibility to make remote elements. Some types of balconies, for example, in old "Stalinist" houses, do not allow it to be insulated at all because of their compact size.
  • The price will be higher than that of a cold balcony block. Often the price of an insulated aluminum profile balcony is the same or higher than that of a balcony with plastic double-glazed windows.

Regardless of which type of glazing you prefer, the choice of window manufacturer and installer must be made responsibly. It is better if it is a company that provides a full range of services - from the production of aluminum profile windows and measurements to installation and subsequent warranty service. Together with the windows, an external cladding, a canopy that protects from rain and snow, a window sill and a low tide are installed.

Durable construction insulation

If available strong frame, able to withstand additional loads, insulation of aluminum glazing on a balcony or loggia can be done by replacing single-layer glass with double-glazed windows. This is what packages are made for. suitable sizes and installed in the gaps of the frame structure.

Depending on what result you want to get in the end, double-glazed windows or part of them can be installed together with plastic frames. This allows you to get opening sections with a quality seal.

Replacing only double-glazed windows will not give the desired effect. Thermal insulation of cold frames is also necessary. Initially, the installation of double-glazed windows and plastic sections is planned in such a way that there is a margin of thickness in the structure for insulation of aluminum profiles. After installing the frame insulation, the inner surface of the glazing is leveled approximately in one plane and the whole structure takes on a finished look.

Frames are best insulated with polyurethane foam. Such insulation of the aluminum profile will not only retain heat, but will additionally connect all structural elements together, fill cracks and gaps, and block the possible appearance of slack during operation.

Full insulation consists of three components:

  • installation of multilayer double-glazed windows;
  • insulation of metal frames and other load-bearing structures;
  • thermal insulation of the parapet, floor, side walls and top plate (ceiling)

Facade insulation technology using thermal panels

This technology is widely used both for the insulation of urban high-rise buildings and in private country houses. The reason for the high popularity of the thermal panel system is their undeniable advantages, such as:

  • resistance to low and high air temperatures;
  • ease of installation - unlike systems of ventilated facades, practically no professional skills are required in this case;
  • external diversity - thermal panels can have a variety of color and texture solutions, even entire designer collections of this finishing material are produced;
  • long service life.

Thermal panels not only do not allow heat to leave the building and make it attractive from the outside, but also perfectly protect the walls from various external influences, thereby extending their service life.

The technology of building insulation with the help of thermal panels provides for two ways of their fastening:
directly on the wall of the building;
on a special crate.

The first method can be used only if the walls of the building do not have flaws - perfectly even and smooth. The second method does not present such high demands to the walls and is considered more practical in the climatic conditions characteristic of our country with its harsh winters and sometimes quite strong wind loads.

The installation of the panels themselves to the base is extremely simple - they have holes for installing dowels, and these panels are connected to each other by a tongue-and-groove docking method. The assembly of such a facade resembles the installation of siding or drawing up a mosaic picture. But this technology has its own nuances:

  • when installing the crate, it must be taken into account that each individual panel must be mounted on at least three bars;
  • the corner elements of the facade are also mounted to the frame using self-tapping screws. It is also possible to fasten the corner parts directly to the wall with dowels;
  • panel joints must be treated with a silicone-based sealant.

Facade insulation materials

Aluminum facades stand out for their great external variety, excellent soundproofing qualities, practicality and durability.

But in order for the facade to be not only beautiful, but also to really reduce heating costs in the cold season, it is necessary to pay special attention to the choice of heat-insulating materials and carefully follow the technology of their installation.

The main heat insulators used in the installation of aluminum facades are:

Professional insulation of the balcony frame

Some window companies carry out glazing and insulation of balconies with cold frames using modern technologies and materials. During the work, the main stages are:

  1. Sealing cracks in the ceiling with metal plates and mounting foam.
  2. Insulation of frames along the perimeter with Vilaterm 60 mm, polyurethane foam and Penofol
  3. Insulation with Penofol and sandwich panels of the balcony parapet. 7 Professional thermal insulation and replacement of glazing of an insulated balcony
  4. Dismantling of old sheet glazing, installation of Vilaterma 10 mm. along the perimeter of the window opening, inserting multi-chamber double-glazed windows.
  5. Warming uprights and horizontal sections of frames with Vilaterm 60 mm., fixing it with aluminum clamps.
  6. Closing the clamps with plastic decorative overlays of the selected color.

Typical glazing and insulation of balconies and loggias of modern high-rise buildings currently does not satisfy many residents due to their budget and cold indoors in winter. It is better to insulate a loggia or balcony with the installation of new warm high-quality glazing using window companies performing these types of work, while installing new multi-chamber double-glazed windows and insulating the aluminum frame.

Let's make a small conclusion

The first thing you should have already figured out for yourself is that this process will not take you a lot of effort and money if you follow the instructions and do not want to save on heat. Learn from other people's mistakes. I described one of them at the beginning of the article, but I don’t plan to talk about the next one, because I’m sure that my advice will be useful to you.

The main mistake that is made is the desire to always save. Thinking that now it will not be useful, but it will not be difficult to do it later, people lose precious cash, spending them on useless actions in the form of dismantling and reinstalling.

Take care of not only your wallet, but also your health, which will definitely deteriorate not only from excessive physical activity but also from nerves.

Friends, remember that you need to save in moderation and on acceptable things. Without insulating any part of the apartment, you can spend a huge amount of money on heating or buying additional sources heating. Yes, they will always come in handy, but do not forget that a balcony or loggia is a part of an apartment or office that comes into contact with the outside world on each side, and this is the only place where it is forbidden to install radiators. The fight against the cold there is a battle that must be won before it even begins.

INSULATION OF THE FLOOR ON THE LOGGIA

The quality of loggia insulation depends on the professionalism of the master and the quality of the material.

Qualitatively and professionally made plastic glazing, finishing and insulation of loggias can significantly expand functionality premises and apartments in general. For additional heating of the loggia, you can order a warm floor for laminate or tile.

WARMING AND FINISHING OF THE BALCONY

At present, the insulation of balconies has become quite common in major cities our country. Due to the lack of living space, many people want to expand the premises by creating at least a small and additional space in their apartment. The functional component depends only on the imagination of the owners: it can be cabinet, gym, winter Garden , study, wardrobe or just an extension of a room or kitchen.

WHAT HAPPENED AFTER WARMING THE LOGGIA

There are many companies and private traders on the Moscow market that carry out loggia insulation and repairs, but many of them use outdated technologies, using inefficient materials that do not allow them to achieve maximum results. Company "Modern Balcony" has been offering its own development process insulation designed specifically for the harsh conditions of the Russian climate, narrow balconies and non-standard loggias. The masters of the company are Slavs with at least 5 years of experience in the field of repair.

WARMING THE BALCONY STEP BY STEP

Warming of loggias is carried out by specialists of our company in a number of successive stages, each of which provides the maximum and high-quality characteristics of the future premises. The exclusion of any stage can lead to freezing of your balcony, the alteration will cost much more.

  • Strengthening the parapet and side walls on the balcony

Before proceeding with the direct insulation of the structure, it is necessary to carefully inspect the parapet and find out if it can withstand the weight of plastic double-glazed windows. If the answer is negative, then our experts suggest strengthening the parapet using timber frame or foam blocks masonry. In the case of sufficient structural strength, you can proceed to the next stage, glazing the balcony.

FRAMEWORK UNDER GLAZING SLIDOR PVC

The possibility of glazing a balcony depends directly on the parapet (fence), how durable it is and whether it has retained its original characteristics. Experience shows that railings are exhausted from street impact and are not ready for heavy windows. The frame helps to strengthen the parapet and allows further insulation.

PROTECTIVE SCREEN FROM METAL OR SANDWICH PANEL

FOAM BLOCK MASONRY ON THE LOGGIA

The construction of walls and fences from a foam block with a thickness of 50 or 100 m.m., the selection of material is carried out on the basis of the goals, objectives, and structure of the loggia.

  • Insulation of parapet + ceiling + walls

The design of the outer side of the balcony or loggia is made not only in decorative purposes, but also allows for additional insulation of the room, saving inner space. Sheathing of the outer side of the balcony is carried out using various kinds materials according to the wishes of the customer. It can be vinyl siding, vinyl lining, or galvanized corrugated sheet. When installing the finish, all production technologies are observed, holes and cracks are thoroughly foamed. Further, plastic windows with double-glazed windows are installed on the existing structure.

Balcony insulation helps us create and maintain a comfortable environment on it. temperature regime. This is especially true if the balcony is used as a year-round greenhouse or winter garden, recreation or hobby room.

Depending on the requirements, thermal insulation can be made in several layers and include various thermal insulation materials that have reflective, vapor-tight and heat-saving functions.

Insulation of the turnkey balcony will allow you to feel comfortable indoors, regardless of the season and weather conditions. In addition, high-quality thermal insulation made to all standards can significantly save on space heating, which is especially important in winter, because for their heating and creating room temperature electric heaters are additionally used.

Types of work for the insulation of balconies

  • insulation of the floor and ceiling with penofol and penoplex;
  • insulation of the side walls with penofol and penoplex;
  • insulation of the parapet or parapet wall with penofol and penoplex;
  • installation of electric infrared floor heating systems and installation of a convector on the parapet.

To warm the balcony and loggia, we use various heat-insulating materials, the choice of which is carried out depending on the purpose of the room.

For example, if a loggia or balcony is not supposed to be used in the cold season, then one of the options would be a thin one-sided foil insulation penofol.

For better thermal insulation, the common and inexpensive Styrofoam or Penoplex is often used - a relatively new and very effective heat-saving material, the small thickness of which is combined with high heat-saving properties.

To achieve maximum efficiency, loggia insulation includes a combination of various materials and. This will lead to some increase in the cost of insulation, but due to the high heat savings, it will be possible to significantly save on heating.

Terms of performance of works on warming of balconies and loggias

Terms of performance of works on warming of rooms are calculated by our experts individually and depend on a number of factors. The main ones include the customer's requirements for the level of thermal insulation and the scope of work (much depends on the complexity of the balcony design). On average: from 2-3 days to one week.

Insulation of balconies and loggias in our company begins with the design and calculation of estimates, and already at these stages, the masters will be able to roughly calculate the deadlines installation work. In the future, they will be reflected in the contract.

Balcony insulation in the 3D gallery of completed works

Integrated insulation of the balcony allows you to simultaneously solve several problems at once: protect the room from dampness and drafts, contribute to the formation of an optimal and comfortable microclimate. And to create effective thermal insulation it is necessary to pay maximum attention not only to the quality and type of window blocks, but also to heat-insulating materials.

They are mounted on the walls, floor and ceiling of the balcony, their main task is to keep the heat in the room and prevent the penetration of cold into it from the street. For this, various materials with a huge range of thermal insulation qualities are used, both individually and in combination with each other.

Proper insulation of the loggia allows you to maximize the use of all areas in the apartment. And if for many people the balcony is used as a kind of cold storage, then thanks to modern heat-insulating materials it can easily be turned into a winter garden, an additional place for work and recreation, which is used all year round.

Turnkey loggia insulation, combined with warm glazing and floor heating, will give you additional square meters to living space with minimal time and financial costs.

The cost of warming the balcony and loggia

The price of installation work offered by us already includes heat-insulating materials and additional products: glue, sealants, adhesive tape, hardware, fasteners. But it is important to consider that the final price is calculated for each object individually and depends on the following factors:

  • types of thermal insulation material used. We offer several different types of thermal insulation for balconies and loggias;
  • scope of work;
  • the amount of spent insulation in sq.m.

It is important to remember that installing a warm floor on a balcony is not always included in the cost of insulation and must be calculated separately!

Insulation of cold glazing is sometimes used, although usually this exercise takes a lot of time and effort, but does not give the desired result, since in most cases it is carried out incorrectly. Before work, you should learn how to competently insulate the balcony, making it a comfortable room.

What glazing is considered cold?

Quite often, when buying an apartment, the owner is faced with what she already has. Often, the developer does not use expensive materials and installs cold glazing without insulating the balcony in any way. In this case, it may be relevant to replace cold glazing with warm , which will greatly improve final result, as it will help eliminate heat loss that occurs precisely through the window frames.

However, you can improve and. Most often, it is aluminum frames. Aluminum itself has a high thermal conductivity, so the room cools down quickly. Plastic double-glazed windows can also be cold. Most often this is a problem of single-chamber structures. This type of glazing can protect against precipitation, wind, dust, but does not resist frost well. Therefore, the insulation of the cold glazing of a loggia or balcony plays a rather important role in creating a comfortable atmosphere in the house.

How to insulate a balcony with cold glazing?

How is glass replacement going?

Any work is carried out in several stages. This procedure is performed as follows:

  • Calculation of the mass that the parapet can withstand. Do not use too heavy glazing, as this can lead to the collapse of the structure.
  • Cold windows are easy enough to remove: for this you need to cut mounting foam, pull out the glass, disconnect other fasteners, if any. After that, the frame can be pulled out.
  • New windows are being installed. It is recommended to use plastic with double glazing. They usually do not weigh very much, while retaining heat well.
  • If you had panoramic cold glazing, then you can install plastic windows from the floor or build a parapet from lightweight materials, such as a gas block.
  • You can choose any windows according to the method of opening, it only depends on how much free space on your balcony.
  • If it is impossible to install windows with a thick double-glazed window, you can put energy-saving glasses on a thin one, they will help to keep warm, while not increasing the weight of the structure.

Replacing a building is technically simpler and does not require special permits, therefore it is recommended to change the glazing to the same as it was in shape, with the only difference being that a warm construction will be used. After the installation is done, you need to install glazing beads on the glass, adjust the fittings.

Insulation of cold glazing and its subsequent replacement with warm one is a waste of effort and money, since when dismantling old structures and installing new ones, the tightness will be broken. The finish can also be damaged, new cracks will appear in the seams. If you plan to make a warm balcony, it is recommended to start work with the replacement of glazing, and then carry out work on the insulation of structures. They are made in exactly the same way as with the insulation of cold glazing.

Cold glazing is used mainly to protect the balcony from precipitation and drafts, but even with proper insulation, it is not able to protect against frost. If you plan to make the balcony really warm and significantly raise the temperature inside it, it is recommended to immediately replace the cold frames with warm ones.
