Do-it-yourself door cashing. How to install cash on the door. Do-it-yourself installation of platbands on doors: analysis of the features of various designs Installation of platbands for interior doors with your own hands

To give the living space a complete and most aesthetic look in terms of design, it is enough to learn how to install trim on the door. Installation of cashing is done by hand without any problems. The main thing is to take into account some of the nuances of such an operation.

Platbands from different materials and the nuances of their fastening

The products we are interested in are decorative elements made in the form of overhead strips on the door. Their task is to form a special frame on interior door structures, which hides gaps and possible construction flaws between the door frame and the wall plane. Platbands are currently made from MDF, natural wood and plastic.

The wooden cashier is now rarely used, as it is subject to temperature fluctuations, as a result of which it appearance And geometric parameters may change. Planks of wood are usually fastened with nails of small thickness without hats or " liquid nails". The latter are used only in cases where the wall surfaces adjacent to the door are perfectly aligned. If it was not possible to achieve ideal evenness, during operation, gaps will necessarily form between the wall and the casing, planted on “liquid nails”.

MDF platbands are less susceptible to the harmful effects of temperature changes. At the same time, visually they are almost indistinguishable from more expensive and "capricious" wooden products. On the door, MDF strips must be placed with your own hands as carefully as possible. They are easily damaged due to the fragility of the material. When using nails, such strips are first drilled under the fasteners, and only after that the installation work begins. At the same time, the preliminary holes are made of a small section (about 1.3 mm) and not through. In addition, cashing from MDF on the interior door is allowed to be glued.

It is best to purchase veneered or laminated MDF strips. Firstly, they look very good, and secondly, they are characterized by excellent operational properties. By installing such products on different types with your own hands once, you will enjoy their beauty for a long time. Excellent performance and plastic architraves. They are very easy to attach with glue. It is allowed to mount such strips on wall surfaces with irregularities (not very serious). A plastic cashier is inexpensive, you can always replace it with a new one without regretting the money spent.

Features of joining platbands

When installing cashing on interior doors with your own hands, an amateur master needs to ensure that the structure does not have gaps, and the areas where the planks join are perfectly even. The easiest way to join products made in the form of rectangles. In this case, they are "lapped" to each other at a right angle.

Docking can be done both vertically and horizontally. Note! Before joining, the saw cuts of the platbands must be protonated with a suitable varnish or painted.

In practice for interior doors most often used strips with a shaped shape on front side. It is impossible to connect them at right angles. Here you will have to work hard to correctly make the required angle with your own hands (usually it is 45 °). Sawing the casing at an angle is carried out with the help of a miter box. The saw needs to be taken with fine teeth. It is optimal if sawing is carried out on a trimming unit with a platform rotary type. With such a unit, you are guaranteed to receive platbands with an impeccably smooth and even edge.

If you cannot accurately and correctly cut planks with shaped relief at a given angle, the door structure will “gape” with unattractive gaps. When you are not confident in your abilities and the quality of the tool used, it is better to give the platbands for sawing to the workshop. Then you are guaranteed to get at your disposal "ideal" strips for interior doors.

Do-it-yourself cashing installation - instructions for home craftsmen

It is correct to install strips of any materials on door structures: before you mount the plinth; after pasting the wallpaper (if it is planned to put trim on both sides of the door leaf, their installation is carried out after pasting both adjoining rooms).Important! Planks begin to be placed on the side where the door hinges are.

First step installation work do-it-yourself measurements. We take an ordinary tape measure and determine the distance from the floor to the docking area of the hinge and ceiling beam from the side of the hinges. To the value obtained as a result of this measurement, another 10 millimeters should be added. Measure the opposite side in the same way. It is necessary to make a second measurement - these values \u200b\u200bare not always the same.

  • we saw off vertical blanks to the required length and put them in place;
  • we bait (at the base and after about 100 cm up) the side planks with nails;
  • under the upper loose ends of the cashing, we put a blank for a horizontal platband and mark points on it that will allow us to correctly cut the bar with our own hands at a given angle.

Sawing off a horizontal cashier is carried out by an ordinary mechanical or miter saw. After that, it must be put in place and proceed to the final fastening of all three parts of the door trim. If you plan to fix the structure with thin nails or studs, it is better to take copper or galvanized hardware. They are driven in in increments of 15 to 50 cm. It all depends on your desire and the expected intensity of door operation.

It is optimal to choose a distance between fasteners of about 40–50 cm. If you are sure that the doors will open / close very actively, drive in hardware in increments of 15–20 cm. Hide the presence of studs or nails on the casing with acrylic sealant or a wax-based corrector. It is not necessary to use these compositions in cases where the platbands are fastened with “liquid nails” and when they are glued.

A decorative strip is used to update and finish interior doors. Interior platbands carry several functional loads as a frame. Installing platbands with your own hands is simple, you just need to decide on the installation method.

Functions of the door trim element

door frames on interior openings are quite familiar to us. decorative element.

Wooden profiled architraves

At its core, the platband is a decorative overlay that serves as a frame door structure. The main function of the part is to cover the gap at the junction between the wall surface and the duct of the interior or entrance block.

The presence of this element is quite familiar and understandable, but the decorative component, which is often attributed to the overlay, carries a number of other functional loads:

  • Cashing on the door covers the shortcomings of the installation work on the installation of the door frame.
  • Platbands for an interior door at times increase the soundproofing indicators of the isolation of neighboring rooms.
  • A decorative strip prevents dust from entering the adjacent room.
  • Finishing the doors with platbands is guaranteed to isolate the room from drafts.

Structural finishing of the opening

To the only function of the door frame in the form of giving the doorway aesthetics, a number of useful additions. Due to this, the installation of the casing completes the complex of complete isolation of the adjacent premises in the building.

Previously, platbands in the form of carved openwork planks framed window and door openings of buildings. country type. Today, the fashion for handicrafts of masterful architecture is returning, which can be seen on many modern buildings.

Carved platbands on a modern log house

Of course, if in the old days everyone could afford to install carved overlays, since in fact everyone possessed, many of them primitive, but skill. At present, not everyone can afford to decorate the building with an openwork frame.

Trim material MDF

Platbands on the door modern form Is it plastic, metal or wooden slip, trimmed different kind material or painted. Framing elements of openings can also be created from composite materials. Types, shapes of decorative elements and how to choose them for the design, everything is described in previous articles, so we should not dwell on this now. After all, our main task is to tell about various ways cashing out installations.

Doors of the hidden type of installation do not require the installation of platbands

Install interior architraves with their own hands under the power of anyone home master. The main thing is to choose for yourself best way installation, based on personal skills, availability of tools and general design features door block.

Preparatory stage

Before you decide on the method of fixing the platbands on the interior openings, for starters, it’s worth:

  • Complete renovation and finishing work.

Stage of installation of platbands

In other words, if the door is installed indoors during repair rough work, then the installation of the platbands is done at the final stage. Cashing on openings is set when the walls are already finished with wallpaper or painted. The floor covering must also be installed.

It is worth paying attention that the skirting boards are laid at the junction of the wall surface and the floor after the installation of the platbands. Since the plinth frames door block all the way to the floor surface.

  • Buy platbands on doors.

Cashing on the door does not have to be ordered from a master carpenter, the elements are freely available in the pavilions of the construction market and in any specialized shopping center.

Finished molded products with finishing

Here it is permissible to find details of a wide variety of shades and different quality of material. exterior finish, and the range of products of any source materials. Metal, MDF, wooden, PVC, composite and other door frames are also presented in a variety of profile shapes.

  • product acclimatization.

Purchased products must spend some time (several days / a week) in the room where they will carry their functional accessories before starting the installation process. Acclimatization of the product is especially important if the casing is wooden. This fact is not unimportant, since any material in various climatic conditions takes on its size and density.

Platband docking options

Wooden platband after installation work (without acclimatization), can lead and give a gap between the product itself and the adjacent plane.

  • Cut the planks to the appropriate sizes.

Often, the docking of horizontal and vertical strips is made in the so-called "mouth" (at an angle of 45 °).

Cutting the planks to match the height of the block and the width of the opening is not difficult. It is much more difficult to adjust the docking angles so that there are no gaps.

Trimming trim strips under the opening

For example, a wooden platband is able to dry out over time and give some warping, which eventually forms unsightly cracks.

Traditional nail mounting method

The method of fixing cash on nails is the most common. The main advantageous features of the process can be attributed to the following differences:

Drilling holes for finishing nails

  • ease of fastening;
  • reliability.
  • Finishing nails (40 mm long).
  • Hammer.
  • Hand drill.

It is not recommended to drive nails into the plane of the plank without pre-drilled holes: firstly, it is not easy, since the product is quite dense, and secondly, the integrity of the finish can be violated, which will not give an aesthetic appearance.

  • Thin drill (1.5 mm).
  • Marking pencil.
  • Roulette.

Nail fastening

The installation process itself looks like this:

The drilled hole will allow you to sink the nail into the plane of the part. The surface is subsequently smeared with putty and masked with paint, or covered with a decorative sticker.

Fastening with self-tapping screws

Installing platbands on self-tapping screws is considered a standard type of fastening, but no longer as primitive as the process of using finishing nails. The main advantages include the following differences:

  • ease of fastening;
  • ease of reinstallation or dismantling if necessary;
  • a truly high-quality reunion due to the tight attraction of the screws.

For playback facing works you will need:

  • Self-tapping screws (25 mm long and d6 mm).
  • Drill.
  • Screwdriver.
  • Pencil.
  • Roulette.

The process of mounting planks using self-tapping screws looks the same as when using nails.

Door cashing on self-tapping screws

The only caveat lies in the fact that the caps of the self-tapping screws need to be well recessed into the plane.

Decorative caps for self-tapping screws

The hole is subsequently covered with decorative plugs to match the color of the material used. Finding stubs is not difficult on the shelves construction stores or by the piece in furniture store. The only thing is that stores sell them in sorting a large number. Therefore, it is permissible to use the same masking method as for nail installation.

Adhesive mounting

Special adhesives, such as liquid nails, are recommended for use in the case of a perfectly flat wall surface. Specialized wood adhesives are made with tinting different colors, which solves the problem of not accurate installation.

Advantages of the mounting method:

  • simplicity;
  • visual absence of fasteners on the surface of the platbands.

The disadvantages can only be attributed to the fact that if it is necessary to dismantle the material, the platbands will simply have to be torn off the wall.

Landing cashing on "liquid" nails

Materials and tools:

  • Specialized glue.

Activity process:

  1. On the bar with reverse side glue is squeezed out of the tube along the entire length of the linear product.
  2. The platband is pressed tightly against the surface for a few seconds and left alone from influences for some time, allotted in the instructions for the glue itself.

Clip-on trim or tongue/groove fastening

Trim on latches or, products are also known as platband with a "beak", have been used for a long time in the installation of modern door structures.

Telescopic platband on the doorway

At its core, we are not talking about a pure installation method, but about a specific product of a certain configuration. If above we talked about fixing the laths of the overhead type, then given element called a telescopic platband. Molding looks like the letter "G" in the section.

You might think that since the casing is telescopic, it extends. Nothing of the kind, because this is a simple corner, one side of which, during the installation process, is placed in a groove that must be equipped at the end of the door frame. The molding is simply adjustable and moves in this groove.

If the benefits of the product are obvious:

  • Concealed installation.

The disadvantages of such a design are:

  • When dismantling or reinstalling, the seat (groove) in the door frame is broken or the shelf (thorn) is stratified.
  • It is better to purchase such trims complete with shanks and extensions, where grooves of the required parameters have already been made.

Complete set with telescopic architraves

The groove in the box is made special tool, but installing platbands with your own hands provides for tricks. At the end of the box along the entire length, you can make holes with a drill, and then reconnect them by manually sampling the wood. We agree that the process is quite dusty and lengthy, especially when it comes to adjusting the groove size to the existing shelf tenon.

Each of the considered mounting options door architraves on openings is endowed with its own advantages and disadvantages. You can choose any installation technique, the main thing is to optimally weigh and evaluate all the nuances in each individual order.

The main function of the platbands on the door frame is to hide the ugly places that form during the installation of the door. The second advantage is the appearance - with platbands the door looks beautiful, emphasizing the subtleties of the interior of the room, making the door durable, powerful and not accessible. Platband fastening can be done in several ways. To do this, you must follow the instructions for installing the door and do not rush, but check each fixed element for evenness and strength.

Existing types of door frames

Before installing door elements, you can familiarize yourself with the types of platbands produced.

  1. Telescopic - in appearance it is no different from a standard platband. But, it has a special ledge for connection with the dobor, the door frame. When installing such a casing, the fasteners “hide” and become invisible. This makes the surfaces of the doorway of a single design without obvious dots or buttons. If measurements and calculations are made incorrectly, then there may be a gap between the casing and the box, which you can hardly shade with anything. Appearance will be damaged.

  2. Capital. This decorating component of the door is a casing. It is mainly installed on high wooden, solid doors and serves as a finish that emphasizes the grandeur of the appearance of the door, for example, in dark oak.
  3. But, if ordinary hinged interior doors are installed in the house, then the capital, of course, will be “out of place” and spoil the appearance. To emphasize the beauty of the door, you should choose the appropriate platband.

    Necessary set of tools, materials

    Before you start installing platbands on the door frame, you should assemble a set necessary tools without which the work will not be done. You will also need some materials:

    This is all that will be needed to complete the planned work with your own hands.

    Existing options for the design of door platbands

    There are 4 common methods for attaching door frames. Each method has its own approach to fasteners and installation.

    Ways of fastening platbands on interior doors

    With finishing nails

    Working with finishing nails is simple, does not require any costs and physical strength, as well as a lot of time.

    Scheme of the device of the platband and the door frame

    Finishing nails are required to fasten the cashing to the interior doors. This is a small carnation, which is only 4 mm long and 1.5 mm in diameter. The cap has a smooth surface (flattened). Using these nails, the casing can be removed and reinstalled.

    Step-by-step process of installing a platband on a door

    It will not work to hammer nails of hammers directly into the lining of the casing - it is difficult and ugly. Therefore, you need to use an electric drill. A hole is made for a carnation every 7 cm, after which carnations are driven into these holes, but not completely. Nail heads should be cut with a side cutter. After that, knock out the protruding needle a little so that it does not protrude on the surface.

    Thus, it is possible to achieve good result in all respects: the appearance is not spoiled, the casing is installed. So that nothing can be seen at all, you can use a special pencil that will paint over the fasteners. The video shows in detail how to attach trim to interior doors.

    Application of liquid nails

    This method is used only when the platbands are made from MDF. Qualitatively done work will please the appearance of the door without nails, which will result from the installation of platbands. So, liquid nails need to be applied perfectly smooth surface, without dust and pebbles. The mounting process consists of several steps.

    Pressing the platband with clamps to the door frame

    On inner surface platbands are applied using a “liquid nails” construction gun. Without waiting for time, the casing should be fixed in its place, on the basis. The element is pressed against the wall, a little time is waited (literally 1 minute), after which it is removed. It is required to wait 2 minutes, put a little more nails on the back of the casing and attach it to this place. It should be held for 2 minutes to start the reaction.

    The process of applying liquid to the casing

    In order to reinsure yourself, you can apply Double-sided tape. After the first application, there is 2 minutes to fix on the edge back side platband scotch.

    This method has its advantages: the appearance of the door leaf remains unchanged, original. If a decision is made to dismantle the platbands, then it will be difficult to do without a tool. "Liquid nails" differ from other adhesives in their technical specifications, the main advantage is good adhesion.

    The use of self-tapping screws

    Installation of the platband with the use of wood screws is the key to strength and durability. This is done in the standard way.
    Self-tapping screw for wooden surface must have a length of 2 cm, a screwdriver or a screwdriver is used from the tools, as well as an electric drill with a drill for wood.
    In order to drown the head of the self-tapping screw in wooden casing, you need a drill and a drill bit large diameter make a notch for the top of the screw. The fastener is screwed into the casing until it stops. After that, the place of the fastener is masked with a special pencil.

    The principle of fastening the platband on self-tapping screws

    Another option is to purchase special nylon overlays of the same color as door leaf with a box.

    Using snap-on trims

    The interesting name "platband with a beak" has become widespread and used in installation. This element of the door resembles the letter "G". Installation of this platband is quite simple, does not take much time. The largest segment of the element is placed in a recess and snapped into place.

    Diagram of the device and installation of the platband with a latch

    This method has some disadvantages. The main one is stratification. If the casing is constantly removed and put on, the latch will damage the canvas.

    Basically, platbands of this form are made from MDF, and this is a material that is soft in structure. As a result, glue should be applied, and the appearance will no longer be attractive.

The platband is a door element that performs a decorative function, closing the seam between the doorway and the frame. The appearance of the door depends on the quality of its installation, so you need to approach this process responsibly.

Types of platbands

Platbands differ from each other depending on the material from which they are made. They can be made from:

  • tree;
  • plastic;
  • metal.

Each of the materials used has its own characteristics. Metal platbands are made of aluminum or steel.

Plastics are a great choice. color solutions. They are cheap, their installation is carried out using liquid nails. Plastic cashing is flexible, so it is successfully used on uneven walls.

Platbands from MDF have their own nuances when fastening. When using nails, blind holes must be made under them so as not to damage the material during the nailing process.

The form of platbands can be:

  • flat;
  • curly;
  • rounded.

Flat and rounded can be purchased at any store. Figured, as a rule, are made to order.

Depending on the method of installation, the following types are distinguished:

Mounting methods

Do-it-yourself fastening of platbands can be done in two ways:

How to install platbands depends on their type and material of manufacture. So, telescopic fasten only on liquid nails. You can install the rest in one way or another.

Mounting Features

Installation of cashing is carried out after installing the door and finishing the walls of the room, but before installing the plinth. If the box is placed correctly and is flush with the wall, then it will not be difficult to nail the trim with your own hands.

If cashing needs to be fastened on both sides of the door, then start with the one where the hinges are. In this case, when fastening, one feature must be taken into account. It is not possible to mount the platband flush with the door frame, because the fittings will interfere. So from the corner door frame indent a few millimeters. This distance is maintained when attaching the horizontal and second vertical strips. The installation of platbands on the door on the reverse side is carried out without this indent.

Docking platbands

The vertical and horizontal planks must fit together properly to ensure an attractive doorway. Platbands can be fastened by docking them together at an angle of 90 or 45 degrees.

Washed down at a 90-degree angle is used when the shape of the cashing of interior doors is flat, that is, it is a rectangle in the cut. In this case, the docking seams will be located horizontally or vertically, it does not matter. After sawing, the sections are processed acrylic paint or varnish. An angle of 90 degrees is also suitable for decorating with a capital - a decorative element that gives a luxurious look to the door.

An angle of 45 degrees is used when mounting figured and rounded platbands. It ensures perfect joining of horizontal and vertical strips. You can make such an angle using a miter box, a jigsaw or an ordinary hacksaw, drawing a cut line.

Tools for the job

Installation of platbands is carried out using the following tools:

  • pencil, square;
  • roulette;
  • miter box;
  • hammer, nails.

Instead of a miter box, a jigsaw or a hacksaw is quite suitable.

Mounting process

Do-it-yourself installation of platbands begins with measurements. It is necessary to correctly and accurately measure the height of the opening. This can be done with a tape measure, after which you transfer the measurement to the bar or attach the cash to the opening and, in fact, mark the place where you want to make the inside of the corner washed down. outside corner is defined as follows. TO inside add the width of the casing and mark the place on its outer side.

Do the same with the second vertical bar. Do not blindly transfer the opening height values obtained when measuring the first casing. Distance from floor to top point aperture may vary.

In order to correctly mark the horizontal bar with your own hands, the vertical ones are baited on two carnations: one is nailed near the floor, and the second - at a distance of a meter from the first. The vertical bar is pre-prepared by making it washed down at 45 degrees on one side. It is applied to the installation site, leading behind a vertical bar where there is no saw cut and, in fact, mark the angle that needs to be made.

After marking and sawing the corners of the plank, you need to nail it with nails or glue it around the perimeter of the doorway. A fastening step of 15-20 centimeters is used for doors that are often used. For balcony or pantry doors, 50 centimeters between the carnations will be enough.

Elimination of defects

If this is your first time doing the installation of platbands with your own hands, then not everything can be perfect. The cracks formed as a result of an incorrect gash can be hidden with wood putty or a wax corrector, choosing the desired color.

Telescopic architraves

Telescopic architraves are installed on interior doors with the help of special slots and grooves, which are provided at the manufacturing stage. Their peculiarity lies in the fact that fastening is possible only on an ideal flat surface. Otherwise, gaps will be noticeable, and the appearance of the doorway will leave much to be desired.

Do-it-yourself installation of telescopic architraves is possible on doors with different width opening. This is achieved due to the fact that the slot can be inserted into the groove not completely if the opening is larger than provided standard size. If it is smaller, then the protrusion can be filed.

For openings with very thick walls, the width of the uncovered area is hidden using telescopic extensions.

Do-it-yourself installation of platbands on interior doors is not a difficult process. Knowing the installation process and types of cashing, you can choose suitable option in each specific case.

All photos from the article

Cashing on interior doors is a purely decorative thing, this design does not carry a special functional load. But even if you managed to install the loot clearly along the doorway, without platbands the view will be, frankly, not elegant. But do not panic, such work is quite within the power of a person who has general idea about carpentry.

Preparation and selection of materials

When going to the market or to the store, keep in mind, as a rule, an interior door is sold without platbands.

This is done for two reasons:

  • Firstly, such strips are not needed everywhere, for example, if the door is perpendicular to the interior partition, then on the one hand there is simply no place for such a bar;
  • And secondly, the price of doors without cashing will be lower, which is convenient from the point of view of advertising.

Tip: it is better to pick up the strips immediately, in place, when buying a door kit. Otherwise, the probability is too high to make a mistake with the tone of the coating.

As for the material, 3 types of planks are used for the interior version.

  • The most expensive and prestigious are wooden planks. But in this case, you should not pay attention to the lower price category. Cheap wooden planks can be poorly dried, resulting in them leading over time or cracking after shrinkage. If knots are present, then in this place the bar may crack during installation or the knot will fall out after drying;

  • Now common plastic lining. The quality and appearance here are quite decent, the cost is affordable. Such strips are not afraid of temperature changes, humidity and other risks. If you are not confused by the plastic itself, then you can stop at it;
  • But to be honest, almost half of our fellow citizens prefer veneered or, in extreme cases, laminated MDF. These strips do not deform, do not crack, and most importantly, they are 100% accurate.

Most often, nails for platbands of interior doors are taken galvanized or copper-plated. Available on the market now special nails without hats, but most craftsmen prefer to simply bite off the hats with pliers, it's faster and more profitable.

For fastening wooden planks, some prefer to use self-tapping screws. Of course, this is much more reliable, but in this case, the hats will need to be sunk into an array, and then covered with putty to match the bar so as not to spoil the view.

There is another option for planting planks on liquid nails or other adhesives. But they will hold only if the base is perfectly flat. Plus, at the slightest deformation of the wall or just on impact, the glue may not withstand.

Tip: often, most craftsmen prefer to coat the bar with liquid nails and additionally fix it with carnations.

Getting Started

As you know, the shape of the plank is figured, rectangular, teardrop-shaped and semicircular. The choice here depends on the design of the doors and the personal preferences of the owner. And if general instruction the installation is approximately the same, then with the joining of the corners, not everything is so simple.

Plank joining options

Planks can be connected at an angle of 45º or joined at the end at 90º. This is perhaps the most difficult stage of installation, especially if you decide to mount the platbands with your own hands for the first time.

In principle, nothing complicated, we insert a bar into the device and cut it through the groove at the desired angle. But if the device is old, then the grooves, as a rule, are “broken”, as a result, chips are obtained.

Tip: in order to minimize the likelihood of chips when making a cut, you need to stick a regular adhesive tape on top of the bar.

Hacksaw or cutting disc should be taken with as small a tooth as possible. Ordinary garden tools, as well as a jigsaw, it is better not to use it here. Based on experience, the easiest and most reliable way out is to use a hacksaw. Of course, you will cut a little longer, but everything will be smooth.

Trimming the platband at a right angle is certainly much easier. The whole problem is that it is only suitable for smooth planks of the correct rectangular shape or with slightly rounded edges. The principle is simple, the strips cut at 90º are joined at the end. Moreover, as a rule, the upper horizontal bar is inserted between two vertical side bars.

If the edges of the planks are slightly rounded, then end cuts you need to do it at an angle inward, so that they overlap, compensating for the rounding from above. There is another trick. You can insert a square decorative overlay into the corner, the choice of such products in the departments with furniture fittings is quite wide, the main thing is that they fit the interior of the doors and the room.

Plank installation technology

Important: cashing is one of the last stages of arranging a room; after its installation, it remains to mount only the skirting boards. If the plinth is already in place, then it must be removed. A plank installed above the baseboard will spoil the whole look.

  • We will consider docking at 45º, as it is the most difficult. You need to start by measuring the side bar, which borders on door hinges. Do not forget to make a tolerance for opening doors, often 3 mm is enough for this. A mark is made along the inner edge, after which it can be cut off;

  • Do not use the cut bar as a template for making the opposite one. Small unevenness in the floor or a barely noticeable skew of the loot will put your work in vain. Each plank is measured and cut separately;
  • Planks are fixed with nails in increments of 50 cm.
  • The upper crossbar is also cut off in turn. First, one side cut is made, after which it is applied to the loot and the place of the second cut is marked. folk wisdom about the fact that you need to measure 7 times before cutting off 1 time here it fits perfectly;

  • Beginning craftsmen rarely succeed in joining all the joints without gaps. Do not be discouraged, small cracks can be covered with tinting putty later.

As part of our story, one cannot fail to mention the so-called telescopic casing. It's pretty comfortable design, it is used if the thickness of the walls slightly exceeds the thickness of the bulk itself.

But here the loot must be adapted to the telescopic connection and have internal grooves. The photo shows the principle of such a design.

There is also a separate type of architraves with a capital. They differ from traditional designs in a wide stylized top bar. Figuratively speaking, the doors are obtained with an impromptu "crown". As you understand, a capital needs an appropriate entourage.

Conclusion

Often the installation of platbands does not cause any particular difficulties, the main thing here is not to rush. In the video presented in this article, you can see how professionals do it. If after that you still have questions, write them in the comments, we will be happy to help.
