The combination of garden and vegetable garden landscape. Original design solutions of a landscape nature, embodied in country gardens and household plots. What is the ideal garden

Not all summer residents are limited to laying out flower beds and mixborders on the site. Many people like the creation of ornamental gardens - in addition to aesthetic pleasure, it becomes possible to provide their table with fragrant herbs, and especially caring owners can get a good harvest of vegetables. Of course, when designing a decorative city, it is not enough to dig a few beds and sow them with seeds. It is important to make sure that this fruitful area matches the overall concept of the garden.

Growing vegetables is one of the most time-consuming activities in the garden. The garden needs to be cleaned every year, fertilized, sowed, planted seedlings, watered, weeded. Why fence him? First, to get the freshest and healthiest vegetables. Another reason is economy. You can save some of the vegetables for the winter and make preparations, although for most working townspeople this is more of a theory. To do this, you need to be able to grow vegetables, take under the garden large area, spend a lot of free time and a lot of effort on caring for him and on the “production” of blanks. The third reason for gardening is perhaps the most important. Growing vegetables is a fascinating process that requires skill and talent.

Skillful gardeners get the satisfaction of being able to grow exactly the vegetables and the variety that they want. If you have a talent for growing vegetables, don't let it go to waste.

Do you have the desire and need to garden? The idea of a garden does not inspire some gardeners at all, there are those who are ready to give it away the best place in the garden, most landowners prefer to combine the cultivation of ornamental and edible plants in the garden.

Making an ornamental garden at their summer cottage (with photo)

The garden in the garden, the design of which is made in the form of a geometric pattern, is elegant and pleasing to the eye. Of course, funds will be required to create it, but digging in the ridges - boxes is practically not needed, the harvest in them is always higher, and the vegetables are more beautiful and ripen earlier.

Neat beds look especially decorative if marigolds, nasturtium, marigolds or even low roses, ground cover or miniature, are planted next to vegetables, for example around the perimeter.

When designing a garden, you can play with the color in which the boards are painted, brown, orange are good, I especially like blue.

Look at the photo: decorative vegetable garden you can decorate with blue Moselle wine bottles - it turns out quite nicely:

Painted boards to limit the ridges are most often used in Russian gardens, you can also use vertically placed tiles and wickerwork. The latter option is very beautiful, but such "boundaries" will need to be updated every two years.

In the design of an ornamental garden, low trimmed hedges 20-30 cm high can be planted as borders for beds, of course, creating and caring for them is quite expensive and takes time, but decorative effect worth it.

You can make them from Schmidt's alpine form of currant, privet, Thunberg's barberry.

As you can see in the photo, when decorating a garden, you can use annuals for such borders - marigolds, marigolds, nasturtium or sheared kochia, curly parsley, chard, beautiful foliage of carrots and ordinary beets are also good for this purpose.

If the area allows, set aside a place for decorating a plot in the garden for a fragrant garden of herbs that combine benefits and beauty. Their marvelous aroma heals the body and soul, it is good when they grow in a recreation area, where you can not only pick them, but also stroke them with your hand.

Another garden design idea is to grow herbs in ceramic pots and any other containers, for example, plastic flowerpots, wicker baskets, even pre-lined wooden crates, or bright large olive oil jars.

In a sufficiently large container or in several medium-sized containers, you can organize a mini-garden. In terms of yield, a vegetable garden in a container is pampering, but so cute and pretty.

Feel good in pots not only spices(parsley, dill, thyme, rosemary, mint, lemon balm, etc.), but also chives, salads, cherry tomatoes, decorative peppers, strawberries.

For greater decorativeness, add "garden" useful flowers such as nasturtium, calendula and marigolds. When decorating a garden with your own hands, place such containers near a barbecue or barbecue - you are guaranteed to delight your guests.

For the winter, rosemary in a pot will move to a room window sill or a glazed loggia, and dig strawberries with thyme into the ground in the area.

Modern Belgian and Dutch gardeners grow plants in bags similar to shuttle bags, simply by buying the desired varieties of the desired vegetables, herbs and strawberries in the garden center in containers with handles that need to be brought to the garden, put in a sunny place and watered regularly.

There are requirements that are mandatory for any garden, regardless of its size and shape of the beds; a sunny place, protected from northern winds, is allocated for growing vegetables; here you need to arrange a compost heap; organize easy access to water for irrigation; fill the beds with loose fertile soil, ensure timely watering and top dressing, observe crop rotation.

Here you can see a photo of the design country garden and choose your favorite options:

Making beds and a photo of a beautiful garden design

How about when making beautiful vegetable gardens do those gardeners who have a traditional, non-decorative garden? Be sure to close this separate area, so important and useful, from the view from the house, from the gate and the recreation area, because for most of the season (in spring, early summer and after harvesting) it looks unattractive.

When making beds in the garden, you can decorate them with a long mixborder, a lively multi-colored “screen” will do its job perfectly. You can use for this purpose a garden screen with or without vines, as well as hedge, sheared or free growing, I especially like it when they use fruit bushes- gooseberries, red and white currants, ordinary or on the trunk.

Thinking about our garden, we sometimes think only about the artistic side of things, implying that beauty and usefulness exclude each other, but you can successfully combine both.

Pay attention to the photo of the design of the beds in the garden - this is not just a territory where vegetables are grown, not only an agricultural workshop, but also one of the full-fledged decorative zones of the garden.

The conceptually minded gardener can take a cue from the Popes, who created an ornamental vegetable garden in purple tones in English Headspan. The dark purple color of the leaves in it is provided by amaranth, basil, cabbage, lettuce, bean pods and eggplant fruits are added to it.

In order not to be too gloomy, they planted chard ‘Hadspen Golden’ with orange stems, pumpkins and zucchini with yellow orange flowers and fruits, nasturtium, calendula, zinnias and sunflowers with orange flowers. As you can see, color schemes can be invented not only in the flower garden, but also in the garden, and not at the expense of functionality. In plan, the Popov garden is a square, in the center of which vegetable creepers - beans and sweet peas - curl on four pillars of a square pergola, and around the pergola there are only 8 beds with wide aisles paved with tiles.

For row spacing, you can use not only gravel and tiles, but wood chips and ground bark, only this coating will have to be updated every 1-2 years.

As you can see in the photo, when making beds in the garden, sod aisles look good, they say, this is exactly what they did in the old days in gardens in the Russian North:

If you enjoy growing vegetables and you can devote enough time to it, then a greenhouse will bring you a lot of joy. It is convenient to grow seedlings of vegetables and flowers in it, to keep heat-loving plants from frost.

It can be not only a "closed garden", but also a cozy haven for fussing with your favorite plants and even thinking and dreaming.

When starting a greenhouse, do not forget that you need to open it in the morning and close it in the evening, and water the plants daily. It should be purchased only if you have the desire and time to care for the plants.

Now each family independently decides whether to have a garden or not, but do not forget that the Russian garden has always combined beauty and usefulness.

And even if you have never grown vegetables, give it a try, it's a fun and "delicious" activity.

Home decoration - creative process, which allows you to take a break from working in the garden and in the garden. The equipped, decorated territory becomes a wonderful place of rest for the owners of the cottage and their guests.

When you want something beautiful, but there is only an empty piece of land with two old trees, it is not at all easy to decide what to do with this piece. Applying the skills of landscape design professionals is expensive. Isn't there a simple budget way decorate the garden with improvised materials? There is!

"Rainbow" in the rose garden

It will take small plot earth, ordinary stones and acrylic paint. In this case, the unsuccessfully overwintered remains of the rose garden act as an experimental site.

By the way! Anything can come in handy, for example, tree cuts, from which you can build great track for children and adults. It is better if the wood is dry. At least not wet.

This style of landscape design can be safely called "positivism". It will suit perfectly if you have children, you love flowers and think that summer is the time for bright colors.

Now it would be nice to mulch the hole. But no mulch. But there are stones. Smaller stones can be used as mulch. Around the trunk, carefully place white small pebbles on the leveled soil. The radius is about 15 cm. If they are not white enough or even multi-colored, you can tint them right on the spot after installation with acrylic white spray.

large stones must be painted with a brush. Two layers of paint (one, and when dry - the second) is enough. Stones do not have to be painted on all sides - one of them will still lie on the ground.

Advice! Acrylic paints dilute half with water, otherwise they will be too thick and lie unevenly. Plus, they last a long time.

A jar of 200 ml of paint is enough for about 60 large stones. Large stones painted in bright colors will serve as a border for roses.

Green trim

After that, the fun begins. Around the rose bushes, according to the idea of the author of the project, emerald lawn grass will grow. This means one more thing is needed. Namely: sand or peat, humus, lawn fertilizer, grass seeds.

It is best to sow a sports lawn immediately, which incorporates at least four varieties of grasses. You need to sow thickly. The area for which the seeds are intended, written on the box with seeds, immediately multiply by two.

Advice! In order for the lawn to lie flat and uniform, grass seeds are mixed with sawdust. It is not worth mixing with sand, it is heavier and will not give uniformity with light seeds.

Before seeding the lawn, complete the placement of decorative pebbles around the white mulch pebbles. Stones do not need to be pressed into the soil, just lay them on the surface. When the grass begins to grow, it will slightly cover the pebbles.

Next to the rose bushes, lay out a path of painted wooden saw cuts. It is not necessary to make a continuous path, there are enough “steps” so that you can walk on them or stand on them to care for roses. While the young grass is growing, do not trample it.

How to seed the perfect lawn

  1. To prepare the soil, loosen it with a rake, breaking all the lumps.

  2. Then spread over the surface. thin layer humus (1 cm) and sprinkle with sand mixed with peat (2 cm) on top.
  3. Nutrient soil is not needed, since you have already laid a layer of humus under the future lawn. But for greater effect, you can sprinkle the prepared area with starter lawn fertilizer in granules.
  4. Then compact the soil. This does not require a special skating rink and even a large barrel. Two small sheets of plywood or any material you can stand on is enough. You put one sheet, stand on it, put the second one next to it, go to it. And so on until the whole area is equal.

  5. Now you need to water the soil well with water and seeds can be sown. They must be dry. When buying, pay attention to the date of packaging, which is on the box. It is desirable that it was no more than two years ago.
  6. Try to sow evenly in all directions. The thicker you sow, the denser the sod will be and the more stable the lawn will be.

  7. Filling seeds with soil. A layer of 1 cm is enough. Watering with shallow sprinkling, so as not to erode the earth.

Advice! If there is neither peat nor sand, buy a construction sieve. Choose a place in the garden with dry soil and sift it through a sieve. You will get a great filling.

If it is cool at night or an invasion of birds is expected, you can cover the crops with a film. Under the film it is warmer by 5-7 degrees, the seeds will sprout faster. And the moisture that the seeds need for spitting will remain better in the shelter.

Advice! Ants from one anthill can take half of your freshly sown lawn to them in a couple of hours. To prevent this from happening, it is worth taking care to neutralize ants in advance, as well as slugs, which will eat young grass with pleasure.

Now it remains only to wait for the flowering of roses and the growth of greenery. All the beauty spent one weekend and a minimum of funds. Moreover, success is guaranteed, since there is nothing complicated in creating such a project. Looks very positive. Easy care. Causes the admiration of the neighbors and the stormy delight of the children.

Flower "stream"

You have country cottage area, garden, garden, lawn flower garden, but something is missing. The soul asks for beauty. Here, for example, would be to make an artificial pond with your own hands. No, not a pool, but at least a small pond or stream. But it's so hard! You need to dig a hole, carry cobblestones, buy film or plastic container, mess with aquatic plants, to acquire all sorts of mechanisms - filters, pumps. Do you think beauty is not simple? How it happens! An easy way to acquire beauty without additional material and physical costs is a stream of flowers.

A flower stream is not even an element of landscape design, but a way. An unconventional way of planting plants is not in the usual flower bed, but in the form of a stream flowing from a container. All costs are to purchase a container. Although, you can use an old clay pot.

Miracle from the pot

To create a flower stream, you will need a part of the site on which you were going to make another banal flower bed. Capacity - it can be: a pot, a jug, a bottle (any capacity from which the future "stream" will originate) and ready for disembarkation flower seedling. You can sow a stream with seeds, but in this case, firstly, you will have to wait with beauty, and secondly, it is not known how the seeds will sprout. The stream can turn out to be uneven and with “bald spots”. Seeds can be pecked by birds, washed away by rain, dragged into their homes by ants.

ground cover plants

The choice of plants for a stream is not as obvious as it seems at first glance. You can use ground covers and creeping plants.

Table. The choice of ground covers in accordance with the growth conditions.

growth conditionsTypes of ground cover plants
If the bed of the flower "stream" passes through the illuminated areas of the garden, it is necessary to plant light-loving ground covers. These include: obrieta, creeping carnations, rezuha, carpet phlox, alissum.
If the location of the stream is in partial shade, plant plants that can tolerate shade.Plant dwarf astilba, tiarella, yellow lamiastrum, bruner, tenacious, trifoliate waldstein, ranunculus anemone. These plants will bloom luxuriously and feel great in shading, for example, among trees.
A flower stream can be created even in a heavily shaded area.To do this, use shade-tolerant ground covers: fragrant violet, small periwinkle.
A stream can be created even where there is constant dampness and the earth “does not dry out” even in summer.Moisture-loving plants: goose cinquefoil, hauttuynia, coined loosestrife form a lush and colorful "water stream".

Annuals

Along with ground covers, many annuals can be used to create a flower stream, but it is worth choosing low-growing varieties, not higher than 30-50 cm. The list of annuals for this purpose is huge. Limit yourself to those that are sown in the ground in your climate. An impressive list - there is plenty to choose from.

By the way! Bulb flowers will look effective. They can be planted close to each other, and weak and defective, if necessary, replaced.

Instead of a pot, you can use a stump

Bulb flowers and perennials

The “bulbous” version of the stream can be made from tulips, daffodils, hyacinths, crocuses, muscari, glamini (miniature gladioli), anemones, freesias, cyclamen and other perennials.

Rooted perennials can also be used. Will look great in line with primrose, sapling, saxifrage, veronica, pansies, Carpathian bell, armeria, gerbil, daisies, liverwort.

No slope for "brook"? Create it with a mound of earth

Brook planting

Having decided on planting material, having found a suitable jug, indicating the length and width of the future flower stream, you can start planting.

  1. The earth is dug up, cleared of weeds, well leveled and moistened.
  2. Then the plants are placed in pre-marked places.
  3. Everyone is watering.
  4. It is important to remember that ground cover plants grow rapidly, so their landing zones must be limited, and the shoots emerging from the banks of the stream should be regularly removed.

That's all, flower stream ready. It will require no more care than an ordinary flower bed - watering, fertilizing, removing dried flowers. The visual effect that you get will surpass all your dreams of beauty. Still think that beauty is not simple?

Creation of a dry stream on the site

growing up

Creepers rank in hierarchy ornamental plants special place. Their stems are flexible and unstable (herbaceous annuals, among perennials there are tree-like vines). But vitality and the desire to grow “to the sky” are unparalleled. They only need support. Give the vines a foothold and they will turn your yard into a fabulous blooming kingdom.

Vertical gardening, for which creepers are used, is a very important part of landscape design. If with horizontal surfaces most plants can “handle” it, then fences, walls, pillars, balconies, terraces can be decorated only with the help of vines.

Too hot in the summer in the gazebo? Create shade with climbing crops

What are good lianas

  1. For the most part, vines do not require large area nutrition. They only need a little soil (two times less than any other plant) to give you much more than any other plant, leaf mass and flowers.
  2. Creepers can grow near the wall of the house, where the foundation passes and a layer of soil above the concrete is only 15 cm.
  3. Creepers can grow in tubs and flower pots.
  4. Creepers are very resistant to drought, to excessive moisture, many to cold.
  5. They do not require highly nutritious soil. Of course, they will not refuse fertilizers, but even without top dressing they will grow and bloom, and some will also bear fruit.
  6. Annual creepers are beautiful in that their growth rate is up to 5 cm per day.

Advice! If you urgently need, already this summer, to decorate an unsightly wall or to encircle a pergola, gazebo, terrace with flowering greenery, seek help from morning glory, dolichos, sweet pea, kvamoklitu, kobee, nasturtium, decorative beans. These fast-growing vines will cope with decorating the site perfectly.

Table. Annual creepers and their characteristics.

NameImageDescription
This climbing annual grows up to 4m tall or wherever you point it. If you don’t direct, it will “direct” itself. It will braid everything that can and cannot be braided - a fence, a neighbor's fence, a tree, a sunflower, grapes.
It is a climbing annual from the legume family. Its stems can grow up to 3-3.5 m. The stems are thin, ribbed. And the flowers are from 3 to 5 cm in diameter, of all kinds of tones and colors and with a delightful subtle but strong aroma.
Grows up to 5 meters. The flowers are not large, but very interesting shape. The colors are also very different - from white to red and variegated. Beans can bloom until frost. Its foliage, along with flowers, looks very decorative and, at the same time, elegant.
This plant is interesting not only (not so much) with flowers, but with its openwork leaves. Quamoclite also has flowers. They are funnel-shaped, intensely red in color, quite numerous. But the foliage of the plant, bright green, dissected into many “lobes”, resembling either the needles of evergreen trees, or an acacia, helps the quamoclite flowers to appear in all their scarlet beauty.
This plant is exceptionally elegant. It has large, trifoliate leaves, dark green with a purple hue. Flowers are bean-shaped. Large, purple and emitting a magical aroma. Dolichos blooms late - at the end of summer. But it blooms until frost, until the end of October.
Kobe climbing - differs from other vines in very beautiful and large flowers. The flowers, up to 9 cm in size, are simply fantastic. In the form of bells, slightly elongated, and long stamens peep out of them far beyond the flower. Kobeya blooms from mid-summer until frost. Flowers are milky and purple color. Purples are first greenish, then creamy, and only then turn lilac (or acquire a bluish tint) and become purple. Therefore, on one vine, you can simultaneously see flowers of three different shades.
Very helpful and highly decorative flower. Leaves, flowers and fruits of nasturtium are used in cooking, cosmetics, and traditional medicine. Grows up to two meters. Grows very fast. The leaves are large, wide, beautiful irregular shape. Flowers - "gramophones" of sunny colors - from maroon to lemon yellow. They bloom all summer and half of autumn.

Growing annual vines

In the cultivation of herbaceous annual vines there is nothing complicated. You can sow them directly into the ground (since these plants develop rapidly, it is better that the soil is loose and fertilized).

  1. Sow at the end of May.
  2. Make shallow holes, 2-3 seeds are placed in each hole.
  3. If the seeds are small, you can sow in the grooves. Depth - about two centimeters.
  4. Water the crops and wait.
  5. You won't have to wait long. After one and a half to two weeks, sprouts will appear.
  6. After another two weeks, it is worth preparing supports for them (pulling ropes, installing pergolas), along which they will climb.

If you want to get flowering of annual vines earlier, it makes sense to grow seedlings first, and then plant them in open ground. Seeds are planted for seedlings in April, in separate peat pots(most herbaceous vines have a weak root system that should not be injured during transplantation).

An ideal tool for garden decor - the presence of a large number of different colors

Garden design is a fairly broad concept, consisting of a variety of elements ranging from design and landscaping, crop production and ending with philosophy and even, sometimes, knowledge of history. And, of course, the creation of any garden is unthinkable without creative and bold ideas.

The easiest way to get a beautiful front lawn

Of course, you have seen the perfect lawn in the movies, on the alley, and perhaps on the neighbor's lawn. Those who have ever tried to grow a green area in their area will no doubt say that this is a huge job. The lawn requires careful planting, care, fertilization, watering. However, only inexperienced gardeners think so, professionals have long known about the innovative tool - liquid turf AquaGrazz.

The design of modern gardens and parks includes:

  • Creation of landscape design elements from scratch.
  • Reconstruction, modification or improvement of already existing landscape formations.

The design and creation of urban park elements are significantly different from the planning and tasks of private small gardens, which include a few acres of land. Elements of the urban landscape must necessarily be combined with urban development, architectural structures and strictly comply with urban planning standards.

Basically, architecture determines the garden and park design. Building classical style provide the same design style, and modern facilities fit well into bold avant-garde landscape compositions.

The main types of urban plantings include:

  • parks;
  • squares;
  • boulevards;
  • lawns;
  • alleys.

garden plot design

Owners of garden plots, landscaping their territory, can use the services of specialized landscape design firms, which will not only draw up a project, but can also carry out the entire complex necessary work. But not everyone can afford it, due to material costs. And usually the owners of the plots are happy to connect their own imagination, draw up a project and carry out the design of the garden with their own hands.

In the use of garden plots, there are two approaches: for recreation and aesthetic impressions, and the second - for subsistence, which is more often inherent in the Russian mentality. These two approaches, in principle, do not contradict each other and can be successfully and competently combined.

Garden design style

There are several styles of garden design:

  • English - the beauty of the landscape landscape.
  • Country (rustic) - simple, unpretentious and bright.
  • Chinese - appeasement and the use of feng shui.
  • Japanese - harmony and conciseness.

These and a number of other styles of garden design are rarely performed in their pure form. Often, owners ennoble their acres of land according to personal tastes and individual preferences.

AT landscape design it is important not to fill the area as much as possible beautiful plants, but to be able to correctly combine these plants with each other, buildings and other elements of improvement in order to achieve a feeling of comfort.

Choosing plants for the garden

Making a design project garden plot, it is necessary to carefully select the plants that will grow there. Their choice primarily depends on the area of \u200b\u200bthe site and its illumination.

Flower beds and compositions that use annual or perennial flowers will help to decorate a small area of 2-3 acres. Perennials, which are quite unpretentious, have become increasingly popular, and growing, year after year, delight their owners.

Perennial flowers that prefer a sunny location:

Delphinium New Zealand

geleniums, delphiniums, lilies, bluebells, rudbeckias, hazel grouses, chrysanthemums, peonies, stonecrops and many others; including bulbous (tulips, daffodils, hyacinths and others).

Perennials for shady places:

Astilbe, aquilegia, buzulniki, bergenia, geykhera, tenacity, saxifrage, lily of the valley, cuff, hellebore, forget-me-not, primrose, tradescantia, hosta, Siberian iris, etc.

Recently, among perennials, astilbe is gaining more and more popularity.

Growing astilba in the garden

Astilba is a very unpretentious perennial. Flowers - fluffy showy panicles from white, cream to purple colors. Thanks to its openwork foliage, astilba retains its attractiveness all season long.

According to the height of the bushes, astilba is divided into:

  • dwarf varieties (up to 30 cm)
  • low varieties (height from 30 to 60 cm)
  • medium varieties (height from 60 to 90 cm)
  • tall varieties (above 90 cm)

Astilbe has pyramidal, drooping, rhombic or paniculate inflorescences that bloom for a long time, from the beginning of July, a month or more, depending on the variety.

Being an indispensable plant for shady places, astilbe feels good in sunny areas. It prefers moist, loose, humus-rich soils with a high groundwater table, but with timely watering, it will decorate any corner of the garden with its healthy appearance.

Astilba is used everywhere in gardens of all styles. Looks great next to conifers, as well as in groups where ornamental shrubs are planted. Of course, astilba is also good in compositions with other perennials: hostas, irises, ferns and others.

Astilba propagates by dividing the bush for 4-5 years.

Often in the company of astilbe in the shady and humid part of the garden there are buzulniks. Unpretentious and powerful, buzulniks demonstrate their bright yellow flowers until late autumn.

ornamental shrubs

Landscape design of a garden plot is unthinkable without the use of ornamental shrubs. Their choice depends on the style of the garden, its size. If acres of land on the site are small, it is worth planting more compact and slow-growing shrubs.

When choosing shrubs for the garden, it is also necessary to take into account the features climate zone in which they will grow, as well as the lighting conditions of the site.

Shade-tolerant ornamental shrubs:

Privet, cotoneaster, holly mahonia, derain, forsythia, mock orange, snowberry, Thunberg barberry.

Novice gardeners should choose ornamental shrubs that do not require special care. For example: spirea, barberry, vesicle, deren, mock orange.

Beautiful flowering shrubs:

hydrangea, rhododendron, mock orange, rose, lilac, forsythia, weigela.

Ornamental deciduous shrubs are interesting with attractive foliage of various shades. Among them, barberry can be especially distinguished.

Pretty unpretentious thorn bush, looks equally beautiful as in single landings both in groups and in hedges. The most common barberry is common, barberry Ottawa and Thunberg.

Barberry has a huge variety of varieties that differ from each other in the shape of the crown and the color of the foliage.

Barberry Thunberg

Preferring sunny places, the barberry can also grow in partial shade, but in this case its foliage fades and becomes less attractive. Barberry is undemanding to soils, and is also quite drought-resistant.

Compact barberry goes well in compositions with coniferous plants, often used in alpine slides and rockeries.

In spring, the barberry blooms with yellow flowers, and by autumn it forms fruits, which, depending on the species, can differ in both color and shape.

Coniferous plants in the garden

The beauty of conifers is that they retain their decorative look during the whole year. They can be planted separately and in groups, as well as combined with other plants and shrubs. Coniferous plants are also able to purify the air in the area.

Before planting conifers in the garden, it is necessary to find out their final dimensions, so as not to subsequently experience inconvenience from overgrown trees. If intensive plant growth is not included in the plans, you can restrain it by periodically pinching the shoots.

Many conifers tolerate shearing well and can be used for hedges and topiaries. For a low hedge, it is better to plant junipers and arborvitae. Spruces can also be used for hedges, but for tall ones, above 3 meters.

Hedges can be divided into:

  • borders (up to 0.5 meters high) - western thuja, juniper;
  • low hedges (from 0.5 to 1.5 meters) - western thuja;
  • medium hedges (1.5-3 meters) - spruce, western thuja, yew;
  • high (3 meters or more) - Canadian hemlock, spruce.

Color combinations in composition with coniferous plants

Coniferous plants have a large color variety, therefore, for the harmonious composition of compositions, it is necessary to take into account the color of the needles:

  • In a composition of three components, no more than two colors can be present.
  • A composition with conifers, consisting of five elements, should include 3 colors.
  • If more than 25 elements make up the composition, then it is better to break it into smaller groups with conifers, 3 plants of the same color in the group.

Heather looks very attractive with coniferous plants.

heather garden

Heathers are small evergreen shrubs, with a compact crown, no higher than 70 cm. The flowers are small, of various shades: from white to dark purple.

Heather is a wonderful honey plant. There are legends about heather honey, it has healing properties.

It is better to choose a place for a heather corner lit or slightly shaded, on acidic soils. The most harmonious heather garden looks if it has a natural, smooth shape. It is best placed on lawns, along buildings, gravel or stone paths.

The heather garden can be supplemented with coniferous plants, rhododendrons, adding some small-bulb flowers. A driftwood or a fancy stone will complete the composition.

Garden design

Many garden owners try to combine the cultivation of ornamental and garden plants. vegetable garden and orchard it can also look interesting if you show imagination, make an effort and plan everything correctly.

adults fruit trees beautiful in themselves both at the time of flowering and fruiting. The main thing is to take care of the garden in time so that it does not look sloppy and abandoned.

Even ordinary vegetable beds can be arranged in such a way that they please the eye.

When creating a garden, they usually use traditional geometric shapes comfortable and practical to care for. The beds can be made raised, planted with a border of flowers and other plants, or made of wood, stone, metal or plastic. Vegetables are also planted in various containers, such as cherry tomatoes or decorative peppers.

Unsightly garden buildings and rooms for inventory are best decorated with climbing plants: girlish grapes, hops or morning glory.

Many horticultural crops beautiful in themselves if they are healthy and well-groomed. You can create contrasting patterns from plants with leaves of various colors and textures. Usage flowering plants and decorative elements will bring the final touches to the overall picture.

Unfortunately, not everyone has a garden plot or extra acres of land available for planting. In such a case, to grow flowers or other ornamental crops, perhaps the device winter garden.

Winter garden design

The design of the winter garden must be developed in conjunction with the design of the house itself. But very often the idea of creating a winter garden comes at a later stage of construction.

Of course, it is better to plan the premises in advance, determine which plants will be grown in it, from which climatic zone, and what conditions they need.

cultivation shade-tolerant plants involves placing them on the north side of the house. Although, perhaps in this case, additional artificial lighting premises.

Even on the south side light-loving plants without shading can suffer from excess sunlight and burns. Given this fact, it is necessary to consider the use of special curtains or blinds.

The eastern side of the building is the most favorable for a winter garden. Although, if desired, it can be arranged in any room of the building and even under the stairs.

A well-planned winter garden design is when a corner of the house with a collection of plants looks like a fairy tale, an amazing landscape created within the living space. The interior of the winter garden can be any, in accordance with the imagination and tastes of the owners, the main thing is that its style is in harmony with the style of home decoration, being a link between the living space and the world of plants.

Landscape design of a kindergarten

Gardens can be filled not only with plants, but also with children. We are talking, of course, about kindergartens, where children spend a significant part of their time. Therefore, everything should be provided in them not only for comfort and safety, but also for aesthetic development.

Necessary elements for the design of the territory of the kindergarten:

Trees and ornamental shrubs planted around and on the territory of the children's institution purify the air and protect from the wind, forming a favorable microclimate. Bright flower beds create a joyful atmosphere, and together with funny figurines and sculptures, a fairy tale comes to children.

In no case should poisonous and thorny plants, as well as producing fluff!

I never thought that a summer cottage or a garden plot is only a garden and a vegetable garden, that is, only a place for fruit trees, berry bushes and vegetables. But it is very interesting - to create a garden plot design with your own hands. A photo gallery of pictures of fellow gardeners, which you will see below, was collected gradually. First, I saved my favorite design ideas on my computer. And then the idea came to arrange all this as a separate page on the site - suddenly it will be useful to others. See examples of landscape design summer cottages on the picture.

But, nevertheless, so far, little has been thought about the design of her dacha. The design of the garden plot all the time put off "for later." I planted potatoes, tomatoes, cucumbers, there were few flowers ...

But then I saw this photo (below) in one of the albums of our group in Odnoklassniki and gasped - how beautiful! Realized that garden design do-it-yourself task is quite achievable. Moreover, garden design or country design for the poor can be simple, but very beautiful, even sophisticated.

With the advent of her granddaughter, she realized that the dacha should also be a place for joint recreation. Refreshing was the first step towards this. appearance country house, laying a new concrete garden path and installation of a mini sports complex -. But while it is “not ripe” to submit to your court a photo of your summer cottage. There is no system - after all, there was no design plan as such either ... But the dream of having a beautiful garden plot remained ... Photos of more experienced gardeners are a great help on the way to the dream ...

Successful layout of the garden plot (photo by Anna Nepetrovskaya from Novokubansk, Krasnodar Territory):

What can be done when there are no special skills landscape designer? Special literature suggests that the design of a garden plot, any, should begin with a plan. First, it matures in the head, and then begins to materialize.

Of course, perfect option. But, if you already have a finished plot, this is not a reason to abandon the design of the garden plot.

In general, of course, a garden, a vegetable garden, their design should be associated with something pleasant. I always wanted to have my own house, so that around the house there was patio so that during the rest you can admire flowers, plants, that is, so that there is an aesthetically designed area next to the house. And already in the back of the yard, let there be dill, parsley and other garden delights.

But ... I don’t have a house, I only have a dacha. It is located 10-15 minutes walk from my house, so I go there almost daily. Dacha for me is an outlet, a place where I relax, even working in the garden. I think that any summer resident acquires a plot not only for the implementation of the family food program, but also for recreation.

Adjoining territory in early spring

I'm sure that not only I want to be in the country or in the yard own house, the cottage was a place where you would want to sit comfortably, relax, experience the pleasure of what you see. So that you can say - "the eye is resting."

A house, a vegetable garden, a garden… Everyone is free to place everything that will help them enjoy themselves on their acres. Here, everyone is his own master, choosing the design, style of decorating his dacha, a plot near the house. Everything that you place, plant, one way or another will reflect your inner world, whether you like it or not.

Successful design of an artificial reservoir

For example, I really liked the ideas of my Internet acquaintances fellow countrymen on the design of the garden part of the plot and the flower garden. Now let me introduce you to what they came up with! Perhaps you will take something in your piggy bank ...

One of them came to the Kuban relatively recently. But I love her garden design.

And how do you like this option of high beds?

Everything is ready - planting soon!

In the Kuban, the indigenous people did not make high beds before. At least not during my childhood and youth. And in middle lane, northern regions - this is a common practice. Sometimes this is due to poor soil or cold climate when a raised bed helps to keep a good one, nutrient soil in one place, accumulate and save heat. Physically, it is easier to process, plant, sow, since you don’t have to bend so low to such a bed, planting seedlings, pulling out weeds.

By the way, a high bed is easier to keep without weeds. If it is done according to all the rules, there will be few or even none at all.

I can’t definitely advise everyone who lives in the Kuban to make raised beds, because, firstly, I don’t have such experience myself, and, secondly, something tells me that in the Kuban it was not in vain that they didn’t make raised beds before .

Our land is fertile - there is no need to import soil from afar. And then, it's hot here. The land in high beds, if it is not regularly watered, will dry faster and be easier to gain high temperature from the sun, that is, we have high beds, if they are in an open area, it is necessary to shade with something. It should be a shade from an artificial "shade" (curtains, canopies, sheds, fences) or a natural one - a shadow from trees, a shadow from several rows of high corn or sunflower.

Here, for example, as in the picture below. A canopy will be stretched over a bed with tomatoes. And although there are no raised beds in this photo, the need now to shelter plants from the scorching sun arises among all Kuban gardeners.

The beauty of garden beds

But this is my opinion - the opinion of a person who has not experienced in practice what high beds are, and my theoretical conclusions "cannot be sewn into the case." If you have experience, please share it in the comments.

In any case, high beds in the Kuban are no longer a rarity. You can’t dismiss this experience, on the contrary, you need to take a closer look - what if there is a rational grain in all this.

Subject to certain conditions high beds can exist and make life easier for gardeners in the Kuban. And what these conditions are, I think, we will decide everything collectively - by trial and error. Time will tell!…

I spied on such an idea - to plant raspberries in a bed isolated with slate, it is also raised.

A high bed for raspberries (photo by Elena Polovnikova from the village of Pavlovskaya, Krasnodar Territory)

Well, that might be a good idea! Raspberries have such a feature that owners of small plots may not like - it grows in all directions, where it is necessary and not necessary. And such a fence will not allow her to arbitrarily!

The fact that high beds can decorate, streamline the garden, bring their own touch to the design of the garden or vegetable garden, I think no one doubts.

And this is what traditional beds look like! I think it's beautiful too! This is also a design - each has its own personality.

And the flower beds! There is generally room for imagination! This is not only a place for flowers - it is a state of mind, this is perhaps the main decoration of the house, plot.

Garden flower beds with your own hands - there is nothing complicated in this. Look at what a successful flower garden layout my other online friend has!
