What plants to plant around the perimeter of the suburban area. A trellis fence made of fruit trees. Dividing the site into zones

Question: Hello. I bought a house and now I want to decorate it beautifully. I don't know what and how, because I've never done it before. I would like bright colors to be present. And how to do this and what is better to plant - I do not know. Here I have a request for you ... please advise what is better to plant around the perimeter, what is in the flower beds, and how best to make an alpine hill.

How to beautifully ennoble the house and yard

You can start with repairs country house and exterior decoration, facade decoration and the device of such high-quality protection of the basement and foundation as a blind area and gutters. Further, the insulation of the house and internal arrangement, on the topic of which we also communicated.

It would be nice to draw up a project, even selectively based on our materials and photos found on the net, which our reader is talking about. Against their background, you can create a certain picture. general plan from which to start acting. It is clear that we will not talk about the house today, since the question is a little different, but we suggest that you still immediately ennoble it and other buildings in the country. As you understand, even the most wonderful landscape will not change the facades of the building. Of course, if repairs and restoration are really required.

Bright colors in the landscape

It makes sense to deviate from uniform style landscape design, the same Japanese or romantic, but you can always not follow the rules of style, the main thing is not to make chaos on the site, but to create a single, coherent picture. With bright colors, and even more so, their abundance, it is difficult to do this. It is even more difficult if a person wakes up with the opinion to do everything as he wants, but not as he should. In principle, uniform colors will not spoil the design of the garden and lawn in any way, but accents and point arrangement of colors may turn out to be original.

You can start by forming your own requirements, for example, the same slide, decorated systematically. Just below you can see an example of design.

Next photo– beautiful design with bright colors, but also measured, with original idea lawn decorations.

Another example of bright colors is work with accents and shapes. You can create similar flower beds on lawns or other open areas. It will be bright and very beautiful!

Bright colors in the country, in landscape design and even in general design- this is not bad, but it is also desirable to study the psychology of colors, since it is a very important factor. For example, White color- the color of calm and neutrality, which does not affect a person negatively. Green, yellow and their shades are the colors of freshness and Have a good mood, that's why we like nature so much, where there is a lot of green grass and foliage, as well as dandelions and sunny color that give natural harmony. If we talk, say, about the color red, then here you should already think carefully. The color is very beautiful, and especially its many shades, but a lot of red is not the best choice, because glut affects the psyche, causes aggression and even headache. Therefore, a lot of roses in the garden is good, but the gazebo, which is completely entwined with plants with red flowers, is no longer the best place for relax!

Be sure to analyze your own preferences, as well as carefully choose colors and shades of design.

How to choose landscape design

We agree that the network has a lot of exemplary pictures and photos in which the landscape design of a summer residence or country cottage seems perfect .. But it’s really difficult to choose from everything, because you really want a lot of things when you see this great amount options.

But you can start from a little different, and do it more correctly. Initially, try to decide on the design, style, size of the territory, which is important, and select a certain number of photos by selection, even if there are about a hundred of them. Next, make a list of what you don’t like, what you don’t want to see in your country house, and gradually remove photos from the general set. When only a dozen remain, work with them, because they are really the best and most suitable options that have passed your strict personal selection.

What to plant around the perimeter of the cottage

Very often around the perimeter of the cottage we have a fence or hedge. It is clear that a hedge is interesting and original, but it is difficult to grow such a long time, and it is difficult to care for it. Besides, it's not a defense. suburban area but just a decoration. Therefore, it is worth choosing on your own what to focus on - protection or beauty of the dacha.

If you settled on a hedge, we recommend reading the thematic material on our website, or considering vines and climbing plants that will help create great decor.

If we are talking about a fence, you can also choose it thanks to a special section of our website, but you should already think about plants.

  • Rose bushes look great along the fence. Almost any variety will help create an incredibly spectacular look;
  • If you want to add some rigor to the design, plant evergreens around the perimeter. They can be tied to supports, set the desired shape, work out the design with the splendor of plants and their number, choosing a planting pattern;
  • You can pay attention to more large plants- sod, thuja, honeysuckle, which will make a high green fence;
  • We also recommend high flower beds or gabions, with which you can qualitatively equip the fence and landscaping.

Lawn for giving

Depending on the style and personal requirements, we offer Alpine Meadow, Moorish Lawn, Classic Lawn or Artificial Turf. It also has many benefits, although it is not alive.

Remember that the lawn is quite an expensive pleasure. purchased, in ready-made, is not cheap, and the seeds will cost a pretty penny. But the next step is the most difficult - lawn care. Here is watering, for which communications should already be connected, and cleaning, and cutting, and rolling. In addition, you constantly need to sow grass or additional flowers, for example, in Moorish lawn where annual and perennial flowers take a serious part.

In addition to all that has been said, initially it is necessary to transform the relief in the country house, some kind of geoplastics, due to which you will get flat or vice versa, hilly areas for planting.

What to plant in the flower beds

It is difficult to give advice without seeing the sites and not knowing the priorities, and therefore we will generalize a bit.

Initially, consider the options for flower beds, how they will be formed, on the basis of what they will be created, and so on. It can be a standard flower bed, a mixborder, a retaining wall, and even with a built-in water feature. Thus, we recommend that you refer to the following materials - types garden beds, selection of plants, rules for equipping flower beds. You can work with ground-blooded, annual and perennial flowers, choose evergreen ornamental shrubs of small stature. But the most important thing is to decide exactly on the height of the plants, so that all of them can be seen in the flower garden. To do this, low flowers are planted in the foreground, then higher ones go, so to speak, “in the gallery”, there may be the same shrubs. It is interesting to make a replacement, for example, constantly change annuals in the flower beds, leaving the most suitable perennial flowers.

It is very important to make sure that the flower beds are constantly in bloom. To do this, you should study the plants you have chosen and compare not only their growth and planting pattern, but also the frequency of flowering. For example, some flowers are just beginning to dry up and shed their petals, as the ones growing next to them bloom.

Alpine hill in the country

Alpine hill on the territory of the cottage - great choice, since this is exactly the element of landscape design that should be present! For creating Alpine slide it will take a lot of time (in a comparative framework), but as a result, really high-quality rock gardens can be created. We talk about all this in this section of the site.

Once again, we want to note that the design of the suburban area - serious job, because you can spend several months of time and a sufficient amount of finance, and get absolutely nothing. And therefore only planning, planning, and planning again!!! Well, then - the choice of shapes, colors, combinations, especially in relation to plants. It is here that you should be most attentive to the agricultural technology of plants, as well as the characteristics of the soil (for example, to understand what GWL means), pay attention to the composition of the soil, useful material And so on. But do not forget about the requirements of the plants themselves, because there are heat-loving and shade-tolerant, growing almost in water or succulents, most of which are neutral or negative to moisture.

Beautiful rock garden on the territory of the cottage (video)

Registration of a summer cottage, lawn and flower beds- It's difficult, but exciting. You can give a lot of advice on this matter, but everywhere they will be strictly individual. And therefore, the obligatory study of the basic rules, but also the opportunity to neglect some of them, because you design the site in such a way that you like it, and not those who write these rules!

after the front and central part, the queue comes up to the line around the perimeter, which often goes along the fence. What to plant along the fence to hide a boring plane behind green landings? To answer this question, consider several options.
I invite you to the group on Subscribe.ru for summer residents, gardeners: "Country hobbies"

Of course, including along the fence, preferably in advance. First of all, you need to determine the sunny and shady sides in order to select the appropriate plants for the existing conditions.

Trees don't fit

Trees are immediately excluded for planting along the fence. By existing norms legislation, perennial tall plants should not be planted directly at the boundary line. Therefore, in order not to spoil relations with neighbors, trees should be abandoned. And it will be difficult for tall trees to grow near the fence, gaining height and width every year.

bushes queue

Another thing is bushes. These are very diverse deciduous or evergreen garden plants, among which is sure to be selected desired option with the required qualities.

Let's start with the fact that among the shrubs there are those that are in the sun, with low or high requirements for care and soil, with a compact crown, drooping branches or spreading forms.

It is not necessary to plant along the fence hedge, although it is this form of framing the site that suggests itself first of all. If desired, the following can be planted in rows along the fence unpretentious shrubs:

  • rose hip;
  • hawthorn;
  • irga;
  • mock orange;
  • sea buckthorn.

An important point - rose hips, hawthorn and sea buckthorn have thorns that can cause trouble for small children or pets.

A feature of sea buckthorn is the superficial location of the roots, and rose hips, on the contrary, are deep, which must be taken into account when choosing these plants.

Of the evergreen shrubs, juniper is suitable for planting along the fence. This plant has species that grow well in the shade.

Challenging landscape architecture

It is not necessary to arrange continuous plantings along the fence; in landscape architecture, a solitary or single arrangement of shrubs looks interesting, which can be tied to a nearby flower bed, for example. As single landings you need to choose decorative deciduous or flowering shrubs. Suitable viburnum buldenezh, spirea, lilac, skumpiya.

Shrubs, when planted along the fence, are placed at a distance of at least a meter to its plane, even if it is a grid. With this arrangement, the norms will be met and the opportunity will be fully provided.

To save space along the fence, you can plant climbing plants. If the fence is solid, then in order to be able to braid it, it is necessary to install an additional mesh or pull vertical threads.

Planting perennial climbing plants based on a fence must be done with caution. The green mass can gain too much weight and knock down the fence. In addition, shoots "crawling" to the side of neighbors are unlikely to be pleasant surprise. Another nuance - inside the green mass perennials dampness persists.

To popular climbing plants, which are undemanding to the soil and conditions include ivy and parthenocissus.

You can also take a place along the fence with maximum benefit by planting rows of raspberries in a sufficiently illuminated place, for example. In any case, when solving the problem, it is necessary to go through all the options and stop at the most interesting, which may be a combination of plantings of various plants.

The summer cottage looks cozy and well-groomed only when the owners take care not only of the house, but also of the yard. In this option, it is impossible to do without green spaces around the perimeter of the territory. hedge instead stone fence looks much nicer and pleases the eye with its greenery almost all year round.

In order for such landings to look beautiful and harmonious, you need to familiarize yourself with some rules of landscape design and answer the following questions for yourself:

  • What area are you going to plant?
  • Why do you need plantings - for beauty or to protect your summer cottage?
  • What plant height do you prefer?
You also need to study the features of plant care, the composition of the soil in your area, the climate in the region and many other nuances. Let's try together to figure out what can be planted along the fence in your summer cottage.

Important! If you have a small area, do not overload it with massive, bulky plantings.

Deren

beautiful all year round. AT summer time year, its lush crown is decorated with cream and white flowers, and in autumn against the background of orange, green and purple leaves clusters of black, red, gray and white fruits stand out. In winter, the red, yellow or green bark of the plant also looks spectacular. Thanks to these unique qualities plant fence white turf decorates many summer cottages.

Important! Derain is easy to shape and cut. The fence from it perfectly protects from dust.

There are several types of turf that will look great around the perimeter of your summer cottage:

"Elegantissima"- a common variety of white deren. It has a lush, luxurious crown of green leaves with a white border, which by autumn acquire pink shade. The hedge from "Elegantissima" is great for fencing a summer cottage. If you plant it along the fence, then quickly enough you will have a dense living three-meter wall.

Deren has broad leaves that change color every season. The brown leaves turn yellow when mature and turn red in autumn.

Deren "Siberica"- This is a low bush that grows no more than one and a half meters in height. It has bright green leaves and red bark, which looks spectacular in winter against a snowy background.

"Sibirika Variegata" can grow up to two meters in height and delight the eye with its colors all four seasons. In the spring, the shrub produces red shoots, in the summer a green crown appears on it. The hedge of this sort of derain looks best in autumn, when the bushes turn purple.

But the crown of the derain does not change throughout the growing season. green leaves framed yellow border and therefore appear golden. A hedge made of derain "Shpeta" will delight you bright colors during the whole year.

A huge plus in favor of derain is its unpretentiousness. Derain takes root well and grows on any soil, endures both drought and excess moisture, and is frost-resistant. It is advisable to plant it in sunny areas, but partial shade will not prevent the derain from growing and developing. This plant has virtually no diseases, and pests are indifferent to it.

When will you plant sod on permanent place habitat, there are a few things to consider. In order for it to take root well and take root, it is necessary to provide the plant nutrients. To do this, add compost and humus to the prepared hole. If you want to plant sod in the soil next to groundwater, then make drainage on the site.

When purchasing a finished seedling, ask the seller for a plant that is no more than four years old. Such trees take root better and give more shoots. Also pay attention to the roots of the seedling. If they are dry, then dip them in water for several hours before planting. Thanks to this procedure, the seedling will take root faster and better.

For garden decor fit perfectly. This species is distinguished by ribbed arcuate crimson shoots, it wonderfully decorates the garden and yard. That is why the Thunberg barberry is in demand when forming a hedge in summer cottages. Barberry shoots are covered with flexible spines.

However, this species does not tolerate frost well, so it is only good for planting in the southern regions. The height of the bush is from 0.5 to 1.5 m. The Thunberg barberry has bright green leaves in summer, which turn bright red in autumn. The fruits of this species are medicinal properties, they ripen by mid-autumn.

Important! Barberries don't mix well with turf as they have very different soil composition and watering requirements. Don't plant them next to each other.

thuja

beautiful evergreen ideal for hedges. For this purpose, two types of thuja are used - eastern and western.

The eastern one has a dense crown in the form of a cone. A narrow thuja fence will make anyone cozy small plot. But before planting, it is imperative to calculate the number of plants that will be required for a given area. The calculation is made according to the principle: 1 seedling per 1 running meter.

Thuja will carefully protect the summer cottage from dust, wind and smoke. It is frost-resistant, adults do not require shelter for the winter, they tolerate a haircut remarkably and are not interesting to pests. There are 14 varieties of western arborvitae that are suitable for creating hedges. We list the most popular.

It grows up to 5 m in height, the diameter of the crown reaches one and a half meters. This variety grows rapidly, adding annually 35 cm in height and 10-15 in width. Thuja "Brabant" loves moist soil. After a short period of time, it will become a dense living wall. This variety needs to be cut twice a year - in March and August.

"Emerald". tall variety with a dense cone-shaped crown. In a living wall, the crowns of trees do not close. "Smaragd" does not grow as fast as "Brabant", so this variety often does not have to be cut. It does not tolerate drought well and requires frequent watering. Thuja "Smaragd" is great for free-growing hedges.

A very spectacular plant, reaching a height of 7 m. It grows by 20 cm annually. The crown is in the form of a column, narrow, reaching a diameter of one and a half meters. This thuja variety tolerates frost well, but during the drought period it requires frequent watering.

Thuja is called a variety for the lazy. It should be cut no more than twice a year. The tree grows very slowly - up to 12 cm per year. This variety of thuja is very "curly".

"Fastigiata". Shoots of needles are tightly pressed against the trunk, the crown has the shape of a column, green, soft, with a characteristic smell. This thuja is shaped like a cypress. It grows quickly, reaches 6 m in height. Great for creating high fences, reliably protects the suburban area and takes up very little space.

Thuja feels good both in the sun and in partial shade. But do not plant thuja in the sun so that it does not dry out. You need to plant a thuja to create a living wall in spring or autumn. Planted in autumn, the plant will have time to prepare for frost. Plant trees along the perimeter of the site at intervals of 1-2 m.

If you are planning a two-tier fence, then plant seedlings closer to each other, with an interval of 50 cm, and between rows 1 m. Tree holes should be 80 cm deep and slightly wider earthy coma on the roots of the tree. Before planting, add peat, sand and mineral fertilizers to the hole.

A great option is to plant thuja along the fence in the country.

Hedge from - budgetary and nice solution. In nature, there are 90 varieties of this shrub. blooming living wall from spirea looks just magical. Correct fit will delight the eye with its beauty and will not require any future costs. A dense spirea fence will suit any landscape and design of a summer cottage.

Combinations of different types of spirea will make it possible to create spectacular hedge not more than 1.5 m high, which will bloom long time. It is quite dense and thick, reliably protects the territory from prying eyes and the penetration of animals. Spirea grows quickly without losing its beautiful appearance.

Withered flowers do not need to be removed, they fall off on their own and do not spoil appearance hedge. Spirea grows well in any soil. Falling varieties do not need pruning. The bushes will bloom very profusely, forming a rounded nice shape crowns. There are varieties of spirea that hold a golden or red crown all year round. These hardy shrubs are great for your hedges.

A live fence from can grow up to three meters in height without pruning. Kalinolistny variety has purple color branches and leaves, it will become a wonderful decoration for your summer cottage.

The flowering of the vesicle occurs in June. Its flowers look like white baskets, exude a wonderful fresh aroma. For contrast, a golden vesicle is often used, which has yellow foliage or a golden border on the leaves. It shines with vibrant hues from spring to late autumn. This magical plant grows very quickly.

shrub willow

Quick and easy to build green fence from shrubby willow.

Harvesting is best done in the fall. To do this, you need to buy strong one-year-old shoots and leave them for the winter under the snow or in a cold basement. In the spring, you do not need to wait for the awakening of the shoots - prepare the cuttings before the start of the growing season.

Since the willow takes root well, you can plant mature trees in the spring. To make the fence look neat, choose seedlings of the same length. Newly planted willows need support - for this you can use strong pegs of the same length as the seedlings.

There are two ways to plant a shrub willow.

1. Dig holes 50 cm deep. The gap between plants should be 15-20 cm. Trees should be planted strictly vertically.

2. To make the fence strong in the future, you can plant willows in pairs at an angle of 45 degrees. On each twig, you need to cut the bark and tie the bare places to each other, when the willows grow together, the wall will become impassable. To strengthen the strength of the hedge, twist the young shoots as they grow.

In autumn, replace diseased and dead cuttings with healthy ones. The shoots need to be cut to the chosen height so that the hedge has a neat appearance and the trees do not grow to gigantic sizes. When twisting seedlings, tilt them carefully, young flexible rods are easy to break. Willows love water, so make sure they get enough water. Shrub willow is a wonderful plant for planting along the fence in the country.

A living wall made of gentle and beautiful looks in the summer. This plant reliably covers any territory from prying eyes. Lilac is unpretentious and does not require special care, it adapts well to any climate. Shrubs grow quickly, allowing the formation of a hedge up to 3 m in height.

Lilac flowers can be made beautiful bouquets, and breaking off the branches is only good for the bush.

Lilac does not need systematic pruning. Because of the lush and abundant flowering it can be used for fencing different heights, as well as to divide the area into different zones. Lilac is quite resistant to diseases and pests.

What can be planted near the lilac? The experience of gardeners suggests that this shrub harmonizes well with thuja and juniper.

Aronia

Today hedges from chokeberry(chokeberry). Its advantages are a wonderful appearance, a lush dense crown, small stature and ease of care. This plant can throw out many shoots that quickly cover empty spaces.

Chokeberry performs an excellent protective function and will not let animals, uninvited guests into your site, will retain dirt and dust if your cottage is located near the highway. Chokeberry creates a reliable ecological barrier that filters out all harmful gases.

Such a hedge cannot be grown in a year, and this is the main disadvantage of mountain ash.

Aronia gives useful and delicious fruits that are used in medicine. beautiful bushes chokeberries along the fence will become the highlight of your garden and will please the eye with their magical charm for many years.

Hawthorn thorns - excellent protection of the site from uninvited guests. The roots of the shrub are deep, and the trunks are strong, which makes it a perennial plant.

Did you know? There are hawthorn plantings that are over 300 years old.

Hawthorn is frost-resistant and unpretentious to different types of soil. He feels great both under the sun and in partial shade.

More than 1200 species of hawthorn are known. To create a hedge, the following types are best suited: black hawthorn, terrible hawthorn (got its name for long thorns and white fruits), single-petal hawthorn, soft hawthorn, blood-red hawthorn, smooth hawthorn, fan-shaped hawthorn.

Creating a hawthorn "hedge" consists of planting, pruning and cutting. 2-3-year-old seedlings are dug into a permanent place and already there they are brought to desired parameters. By the age of 20, the hedge reaches a height of two meters. To ensure its density, the branches of the bushes standing next to each other are spliced together using trellises.

Such hedges are thinner than usual, reach 40 cm in width, and when planted in two rows can develop up to 1 m in thickness. Optimal width hawthorn hedges are considered 70-75 cm, because fungal diseases spread quickly in too thick "walls".

Perfect for hedges. It must be planted in a timely manner and according to a strict algorithm. If the process of planting irgi is made with errors, then a fertile and lush hedge will not be achieved.

Consider two types of landing:

1. Sow the seeds and the seedlings will grow on their own.

2. Plant ready-made seedlings.

The first option will take more time and effort, but it can be used to grow strong seedlings for hedges. Irgi seeds should be sown in pre-prepared greenhouses, watered abundantly and grown for two years.

If you do not have the strength, time and experience to grow seedlings on your own, then buy ready-made ones. But then you need to scrupulously approach their choice. The right seedling It is considered a tree with a length of 40 to 70 cm in height and a trunk of 1 cm in diameter. The length should be half the trunk up to 35 cm.

Rose hip

If you decide to make a hedge from, then it is best to plant the bushes in two rows in a checkerboard pattern. The distance between seedlings should be 60-80 cm. Due to the rapid growth of wild rose, in a couple of years you will get a solid prickly fence.

Rose hips develop roots well and quickly, it gives many shoots that grow in all directions. If you are interested in a strict form of the hedge, then the bushes will have to be cut.

Before planting, soil moisture will be required, and only then the seedling descends into the hole. Be sure to straighten the roots and sprinkle them with earth, pour each bush with two buckets of water.

Rose hips can be planted in spring or autumn in a sunny area. Shrubs along the fence will not only reliable protection, but also great decoration suburban area.

This project is an example of how a well-organized area was created from a chaotic, overgrown garden. And the problem was very common: too many plants had accumulated in the garden. They required endless care and left no room for outdoor recreation. Are you familiar with such a situation? Then read carefully and memorize the ideas.

Given:

A land plot within the city with an area of about five acres, of which two were under construction, and three acres were subject to alteration. A family with two children lives in the house.

Required:

- Place for an extensive collection ornamental shrubs and herbaceous plants.

Rest area with big table for the gathering of all relatives, as there are spring and summer birthdays, as well as for a comfortable stay in the fresh air.

Children's playground with a place for outdoor games.

area under berry crops to delight children with fresh berries, as well as small vegetable garden(rather as a tribute to tradition than to solve food problems).

The decision was made:

Redevelop the entire area. Take the central part under the lawn and a recreation area. Plant flowers and shrubs around the perimeter of the garden. Eliminate old plants, distribute superfluous ones to relatives and friends.

Do you remember how it all started...

Initially, the landlady enthusiastically collected different types plants and planted them in free places.

In the spring it was even beautiful. Various varieties of tulips, hyacinths, daffodils and muscari were blooming. Then other plants also gained volume.

The garden gradually overgrown and turned into a "jungle", as the owners themselves called it (photo 3). Planted without a single plan, flowers and shrubs merged, forming a motley chaos. Among cultivated plants weeds sprouted that were difficult to control. Children grew up in the family, and at some point it became clear that the garden could no longer remain in this form. Children just need free space.

Chronicle of perestroika

In April, a planting plan and a zoning scheme were drawn up. Taking into account the fact that many plants had to be transplanted or uprooted, the work plan was extended over two seasons.

Work began in the spring, May 6. The recreation area, which was the first in terms of work, was decided to be placed under the crowns of apple trees, so that they provide shelter from the sun on hot days.

The territory was densely planted with currant bushes, gooseberries, peonies, tulips, clematis and other plants purchased at exhibitions (photo 3).

Part of the flowers, in accordance with the plan, was transplanted to the territory allotted for them. The remaining plants were distributed to relatives and neighbors.

Gradually, within two weeks, the territory was liberated. The hostess literally “plunged” into exciting work. She turned out to be an ideal customer: she clearly followed the instructions, sometimes asked for help, but most importantly, she did a lot with her own hands. One feels like quoting Nekrasov: “There are women in Russian villages!” What we planned to do in two seasons (uprooting bushes and leveling the ground) she did in one.

The second stage was the transplantation of plants from the central zone (where the lawn was planned) along the perimeter of the site. Again, most of the work was done by the hostess herself. Professional help it was required only for transplanting adult thuja and clematis (she simply did not understand plant biology). In the process of “perestroika”, she gained experience, and now she herself will be able to correctly transplant everything.

They cut the forest - the chips fly

They say, "there is no revolution without blood." Peonies have already grown, but we can’t leave them in the middle of the lawn, and we transplanted them. As a result, this summer they did not bloom, but a number of other flowers were successfully inscribed in new design, they bloomed magnificently and delighted us (photo 6). In summer and autumn, the final selection of transplanted plants will be made. After they bloom, they will be labeled by variety. Part of the plants will remain, and the “repeats” will disperse to relatives and neighbors.

The lawn is freedom!

The third stage was the creation of the lawn. The plan is for spring. next year. However, the accelerated pace of work made it possible to sow it in the second half of June.

It was not by chance that it was decided to occupy the central part with a lawn. Two children: an eight-year-old boy and a five-year-old girl run chasing around the site. Previously, their grandmother scolded them for broken and trampled flowers, but now they were offered a “track” for jogging - around the lawn comfortable path from tiles. And when the lawn is completely stronger, it will be possible to run freely on it.

In addition, a zone for berry crops and a vegetable garden was provided. According to the plan, a place was taken under it at the end of the site. The type of beds does not spoil overall design garden, as they are hidden behind the flowers planted around the perimeter of the lawn.

Results

There is a clear division of the territory into large zones, in size they balance each other.

The path and recreation area are tiled and gravel. Gravel was consciously preferred. Children sometimes fall, and round pebbles are less traumatic than more decorative crushed granite (photo 8).

In addition, this coating is permeable to precipitation, because the site is located right on the roots, under the crowns of apple trees. Before laying the cover, we applied fertilizer. In the future, this operation can be repeated - the fertilizer solution freely penetrates into the soil through the gaps between the tiles.

The leveled area in the center of the site was given to a sunny lawn: it pleases the eye, you can sunbathe on it, and the children will have a place to frolic. Over the summer, the sown lawn has matured well and is now a beautiful green carpet. Watering is carried out automatically - you only need to mow.

The set of flowers along the edge of the plot will partially change, because the hostess always buys something and adds it. In some plants, she is disappointed, preferences change ... In general, it suits everyone known process creating a garden. But it's so nice to enjoy something new!

Most of all, the hostess was surprised by the garden area, which had previously been scattered throughout the garden. And now everything is compactly collected in one place. Of course, such an area does not allow growing a lot. But every greenfinch is on the table: several cucumbers, peppers and tomatoes are planted to serve vitamins directly from the garden. And for salting for the winter, purchases are made in the market.

In general, everyone is happy. Work in the garden will continue next season. But this is already polishing, the main part has been completed. It is planned to create a large rock garden, which should provide a change in visual impressions for the audience.

Less hassle

Once again, I would like to note that the creation of a garden and caring for it are two sides of the same coin. This factor was taken into account at the design stage.

So, what was implemented in this case. The territory of the recreation area is excluded from maintenance, and this is about 50 m2. Thanks to tiled flooring the same can be said about the path - another minus 16 m2 of area.

The lawn is also an undemanding area to care for. It has an area of 60 m2 and a rounded shape, which is convenient for mowing.

Spunbond in the garden covered beds with Victoria (photo 5), and raspberry plantings are mulched with straw (in the future, straw will be replaced with mowed lawn grass). Mulching materials do not allow weeds to grow. Plantings along the perimeter are also mulched with compost and compacted as much as possible. It also inhibits the growth of weeds.

In general, the garden is arranged simply and reasonably, without any special design “bells and whistles”. And as a result, we got a comfortable space that allows you to combine the delights of living in nature and the comfort of urban communications.

Planting around the perimeter of the garden plot

It is necessary to plant broad-leaved trees around the perimeter of the garden.

Do you need conifers and broadleaf plants to protect the garden?

In a wasteland 12 years ago I laid a garden. The perimeter is 100 meters by 40 meters, I surrounded the chain-link with a net. This is almost 300 meters of perimeter length.

Immediately there was an idea to plant the entire perimeter with tall pines and spruces to protect against cold winds, so I planted apple and pear trees at a distance of 5-7 meters from the grid, and planted conifers near the grid itself. But, planting material conifers were only enough for the cold northeastern borders.

Studying the literature, I found out that conifers adversely affect apple trees, and the roots and phytoncides of conifers depress garden trees.

Apple trees in nature evolutionarily grow under the protection of oaks, lindens, maples. The foliage of these trees gives a "sweet" litter rich in carbohydrates, quickly enriches the soil with humus. The microclimate in the garden, surrounded by broad-leaved trees, is very favorable, especially in hot summers, the humidity is higher, there are no winds. (In our zone, of course, tall coniferous trees protect better from cold northern winds).

There are a lot of living creatures, both birds on the branches, and mesofauna in the leaf litter. And all this diverse living creatures from frogs, lizards, hedgehogs and snakes, to ants and spiders protect the garden from harmful insects.

But even more important for garden planting various shrubs and special broad-leaved grasses. This gives additional leaf litter, attracts beneficial insects and birds.

Therefore, as soon as the pines and spruces began to grow, I began to plant mountain ash (red and chokeberry), birches, hawthorn, cotoneaster, shadberry, viburnum, virginian bird cherry on both sides of them.

And in places where conifers fall, last years planting different kinds maples, lindens, oaks, ash trees, chestnut trees, and everything that can be found in the abandoned parks and gardens of our zone.

Let's look at a photo of the corners of the garden, slowly go around the entire perimeter.

In the lowest southeastern part, a giant viburnum bush has grown, in autumn you can pick up more than one bucket of berries from it.

Closer to the west grow Chinese plums and rare mountain ash with pears grafted onto them.

Northwest corner, where cold winds consist of three rows, a number of Christmas trees and birches. In front of them is a dense row of mountain ash and young maples.

The northern part is varied. These are birch trees, willows and maples. Given that all this is planted on a hill, they protect the garden from cold winds both in summer and winter. At the same time, they create beauty and comfort in the garden.

The northeast is the coldest. Here are 12-year-old pines. They have grown to 5 meters and stand in a thick wall. Between the pines and apple trees there is a wall of hawthorn, in some places there are maples.

Below is a thick wall between the pines of broom chokeberry, euonymus. The grid is lined with girlish grapes.

And now look how the hogweed, Weirich mountaineer, Comfrey coexist in the garden under the apple trees. Their roots go deep behind the water and provide a lot of nutrition when they die. Mowing the leaves and laying them out under the crown, I replenish the soil with the energy of carbohydrates and protein to feed the soil living creatures.

Look what amazing corners of young maple trees are in my garden, what herbs.

The garden on May 19 was still in bloom. And now June 1 is already a great ovary. Due to the untouched ecology of the garden, the abundance of bees, fruit set is very high. There is no bloomer.
