Climatic classes of refrigerators: features and differences. How a blonde chooses a refrigerator.

How to choose a refrigerator?

The first step is to decide on the shape and volume of the refrigerator you need. Most refrigerators on the market are tall and narrow. The strength of these models is the maximum volume with a minimum footprint.

It is quite possible that a low but wide refrigerator will harmoniously fit into your kitchen. By the size and volume of refrigerators, four main types can be distinguished:

Small-sized refrigerators - from 50 to 125 cm high. As a rule, these are single-chamber models without a freezer compartment; models with a miniature freezer compartment are less common. Most often, small-sized refrigerators are found in offices, hotel rooms, and in the country. It can be recommended to people leading a "bachelor" life, students or pensioners.

Refrigerators are compact in size - from 130 to 150 cm high, with a volume of 200 to 260 liters. They produce both single-chamber and two-chamber models. Manufacturers complete with two doors for the refrigerator and freezer compartments. Refrigerators of compact size are aimed at families of two to three people.

Medium-sized refrigerators - from 150 to 185 cm high, with a volume of 260 to 350 liters. As a rule, these are two-chamber models, the freezer compartment can be located both at the bottom and at the top. The volume of freezers of these refrigerators is from 50 to 140 liters. Models with a bottom freezer can be distinguished by a larger freezer compartment in which drawers and shelves are installed. In models with a top freezer, there is usually only one shelf.

Large refrigerators (side-by-side) - from 195 to 210 cm high, from 350 to 800 liters in volume. The freezer compartment is usually located on top. When choosing large refrigerators, you should focus on the growth of the inhabitants of your house and take into account door and elevator openings so that you can carry the model you have chosen.

Chambers of home refrigerators are:

Refrigerator with a temperature above zero (0 - +6 C)

Freezer minus chamber with a temperature below zero (from -6 to -30 C).

On refrigerators, the class of the freezer is indicated, indicated by the symbols "asterisks", which are deciphered as follows.

* * (two) - temperature -12 C. Storage of frozen foods for one month.

* * * (three) - temperature -18 C. Storage of frozen food up to three months, and can freeze fresh food.

* * * * (four) - temperature -30 C, storage of frozen food from six months to one year.

There are models of refrigerators equipped with a “zero chamber”, in which the temperature is maintained at a level of 0 to +1 C, which is considered the most optimal for storing non-frozen foods to preserve all vitamins.

Freezers.

Inexpensive single-chamber and two-chamber models are usually frozen by hand. In more expensive refrigerators, manufacturers install automatic systems defrosting. There are two types of defrost systems.

Air (“No Frost” or “Frost Free”) - Foods in the freezer compartment are frozen with cold air, and excess moisture is removed. Thanks to this, ice never forms in the freezer compartment, and food is not covered with frost. The system is used in both refrigeration and freezer. The disadvantages include the fact that storing food in the refrigerator with air system freezing (refrigeration) should be packaged. Since, as a result of the constant operation of the fan that circulates air flows, the products are dried and weathered. It is not recommended to put a piece of cake on a saucer or sliced sausage on an open plate in such a refrigerator.

Drip - Moisture condensing from the air flows down the wall into a special hole and is discharged through the guide channel into the tray above the compressor, from where it evaporates with the heat generated by the compressor during operation. The drip chamber maintains an increased, almost 100% humidity, and the products in it do not become weathered and do not dry out. The refrigerator compartment with this design does not need to be thawed, but the freezer compartment requires manual defrosting.

Modern refrigerators are equipped with both one and two compressors. The conveniences of two compressor refrigerators include the ability to defrost one of the chambers while the second is operating.

Refrigerators differ in power consumption and are divided into classes.

Refrigerators of class "A" consume the minimum amount of electricity. The cost of an "A" class refrigerator can be significantly higher, but there is a possibility of energy savings of approximately 90 to 150 kWh per year.

Refrigerators of class "B" and "C" are considered economical, but they consume slightly more electricity.

Refrigerators of class "F" and "G" consume the most energy.

Refrigerator shelves are metal lattice or solid plastic (glass). We recommend that you pay attention to solid shelves, because if something in the refrigerator topples over, crumbles, the curbs-limiters will prevent the flow of liquids onto adjacent shelves.

Modern Refrigerator – Available in any color, metallic, high-tech, or 50s style. There is a finish "under the tree" or "marble". There are tons of refrigerators with the ability to open the doors without hanging. Some manufacturers produce refrigerators with an antibacterial coating of the refrigerator compartment containing silver ions. Built-in refrigerators are manufactured with the ability to follow uniform style from kitchen set, when installed under the countertop, the refrigerator door is attached to the door of the kitchen facade and the built-in refrigerator becomes invisible. It should be noted that any step away from standard models entails an increase in the price of the model.

To increase the life of the refrigerator, you should follow simple rules

do not place the refrigerator near stoves and heaters.

do not put hot food in the refrigerator compartment

don't leave the door open

connect the refrigerator to a grounded socket located in a free access area. On average, refrigerators are designed for 15 years of operation.

What are refrigerators?

The old ZIL refrigerator is finally retired. My father bought this pride of Soviet consumer goods a very, very long time ago, when Gagarin had not yet flown into space. But all good things come to an end. And now a completely prosaic question arose: where in the country to store food? Of course - in the new refrigerator. And in what? There used to be one problem: where to buy? And now there are many problems: how to choose and what to choose? Of course, we do not choose a husband, but we need to comprehend a lot of important parameters, not just one price.

Text: Galina RAZINA.

As the blonde parks, I think many gentlemen are watching with great interest. This is already legendary. Do you want to know how a blonde who looks like a brunette chooses a refrigerator? And do not even think that the color of your hair. Many defenders of the fatherland will be surprised how far-sighted and technically savvy we, their halves, are.

VOLUME: OUR SIZE IS WHAT IS IT?

Starting to choose a refrigerator, I remembered my family. How many eaters do we have? Of course, all eight people can descend on the dacha. But this is a rare force majeure. Let's take no more than five people into account. In terms of liters, it turns out that we need a two-chamber unit with a freezer of at least 100 liters and a refrigerator for 250-300 liters. Total total volume - in the range of 350-400 liters or a little more will also work.

Dimensions with such a volume are also important. You can take a narrow and high unit - 60x60x200 cm, and then every now and then bounce with pans. And you can immediately choose a wide refrigerator, even if it is lower - 80x75x185 cm or so. This second option, I think, will be the most spacious and affordable for people of average height - just our case.

FREEZER: BOTTOM OR TOP?

AND HOW MUCH IN DEGREES?

Now let's take a look at the freezer. Is it more convenient to have a deep minus from below or from above? Both options are on sale, and in a stunning variety: with blind drawers, with transparent ones, with retractable ones, with curtains and without drawers at all ...

I vote for a top freezer with a separate door, but without any drawers, only with regular shelf and capacious niches on the door. It is most convenient to lay fresh blanks in an open space. He opened the door - and everything can be seen what berries and mushrooms are laid out in bags. The freezer should open at eye level so you don't have to double-down while digging through the bottom drawers. By the way, it is also more convenient to serve a large freezer from above, at arm's length.

There is also an obligatory wish: the freezer should have an ice generator and, best of all, the simplest one in the form of plastic molds. In the summer it is impossible to drink kvass without instant cooling!

It remains to decide on the stars: how many to choose for deep freezing? The following options are possible:

- one asterisk * - the lowest temperature -6 ° C, food storage up to 7 days;

- two stars ** - temperature -12°C, food storage up to 30 days;

- three stars *** - temperature -18°C, food storage up to 90 days;

- four stars **** - temperature below -18°C, food storage 6-12 months.

Perhaps, three stars and -18 ° С for 90 days are quite suitable for the summer season. And in an apartment, I would definitely choose all four - with maximum freezing and a shelf life of up to a year.

So, we are looking for a two-chamber wide refrigerator with a volume of about 350-420 liters with an upper freezer open type with shelves.

NO FROST: FROST ON THE WIND?

Let's move on to the next point of my "pre-election program". What is the best way to defrost new refrigerator? Manual defrosting with complete evacuation of products, of course, does not work anymore. This is yesterday's day of the legendary ZIL. We will choose from two modern options: No Frost or drip system.

And I ask you to be more serious with this issue. Not only the purchase price depends on the type of defrosting, but also the cost of operation, as well as the period and quality of food storage.

The most advanced is the No Frost system, which is installed in almost all premium models. The frost-free system is based on a simple physical principle: the wind blows, the moisture dries up, and the cold evenly fills the chamber.

A fan built into the rear is responsible for the wind in refrigerators.
wall. It drives air through the entire open and closed volume, including the evaporator radiator, also hidden behind back wall, which is sometimes mounted between two cameras in order to successfully work on "two floors" at once.

When the compressor is running, the radiator becomes a freezer with a distinct disadvantage. The forced air passes through it, and moisture in the form of frost falls on the cooled coil. When the compressor turns off automatically, the temperature on the radiator starts to rise. The hoarfrost melts quickly, flows into a special tray, fixed near the compressor, and evaporates through the kitchen.

In more expensive models, there are two No Frost systems at once - separately for the freezer and refrigerator, and with separate temperature control. But I will not consider such options because of the too high price, leaving for 60-70 thousand rubles.

The advantages of No Frost are obvious. The air streams forced through this system quickly and evenly cool the entire volume for food storage. Of course, it is very convenient when the refrigerator defrosts itself, and the hostess only thinks about how to fill it. However, upon closer examination, ambiguous nuances emerge in the "no frost" technology. I have identified at least three important points for myself.

Firstly, the compressor, either cooling or heating the evaporator, receives an increased load and consumes more electricity. The operation of such refrigerators will be more expensive, and the purchase price will be 15-20 percent higher.

Secondly, No Frost dries the air to the limit, this is especially critical for the refrigerator compartment, where fresh herbs, vegetables and fruits often get in the summer. IN open form the summer crop will begin to dry out quickly.

Thirdly, the fan increases the decibels of noise, and the entire system with the evaporator thickens the back wall, pretty much hiding the useful volume of the refrigerator - by 10-15 percent.

So let's not rush into the final choice.

Good refrigerators cry too

Sometimes refrigerators “cry” because everything works well for them. If you notice such a phenomenon in the refrigerator, then the drip defrosting system is in perfect order.

In physical essence, this system is very similar to No Frost, but it is simpler and more economical, because there is neither an extra fan nor an additional evaporator.

There is always a small plus in the refrigerator compartment. Therefore, on the back wall, when cold is applied to it, condensate is naturally released from humid air. When the compressor generates cold to a strong minus, the condensate turns into frost on the wall. As soon as the compressor turns off, the frost begins to melt, and the back wall begins to cry. Water flows into the drainage system, and then, just like in the No Frost system, it evaporates in the sump near the compressor.

The advantages of the drip system are obvious.

Firstly, no winds and drafts walk around the chamber, the air does not dry out, the air humidity is always maintained at a decent level, which is more of an advantage than a disadvantage.

Secondly, such refrigerators are noticeably cheaper and more economical. The drip system does not require additional equipment, the defrosting process occurs naturally, without extra costs for the operation of the unit.

Thirdly, weeping refrigerators are more reliable, quieter and more spacious.

Against the background of obvious advantages for country choice over time, an annoying minus may arise: drops of water constantly flowing down the wall can form a decent puddle inside the chamber and even pour onto the floor. Such a flood happens if it becomes clogged drainage system refrigerator, which, however, is easily eliminated with a thin wire.

The drip system, in my opinion, has only one global drawback: it will not be able to serve the freezer with its “permafrost”. Therefore, there are many inexpensive but truncated offers on the market: the refrigerator is equipped with a drip system, and the freezer is serviced, as in the legendary ZIL, manually. Is it possible to subscribe to such an option?

Is it possible to exclude manual defrosting in any form? It is possible, but there are only two options: either No Frost works on two chambers at once, or No Frost only serves the freezer, and the drip system “cries” in the refrigerator. This combination would be perfect! But it will cost more. So we will decide on the spot.

Compressor: the old "horse" does not spoil the furrow ...

Happens! I thought about the most important thing in the refrigerator when a news story about a new main airliner flashed on TV. “What is the most important thing in an airplane?” the TV asked. "And by the fridge?" I asked. An airplane has an engine that increases lift. And the refrigerator has a compressor that generates cold. And what kind of compressor do I need so that the refrigeration unit does not turn out to be simple closet white?

Now the most affordable and most popular are linear compressors. They work on a “whistle”: if it becomes too warm in the chamber, the compressor turns on and dynamically “pumps up” the cold. When the frost gets stronger, the compressor turns off at the set point and will not work until it receives a signal from the sensors about a new thaw. And so all my life: turned on, froze, turned off. This rhythm is well audible in the kitchen: the refrigerator shudders and rumbles, then falls asleep again ...

As they explained to me, linear technology conquered the market 15 years ago. Long time Refrigerators used only linear compressors. Flashed only brands of manufacturers. By the way, I was highly recommended to pay attention to refrigerators with Austrian ACC and Danfos compressors - they are made in Slovenia. However, I did not plunge into such nuances immediately, because I firmly decided not to trail in the tail of technological progress.

The fact is that in the most modern refrigerators they put new type compressors - inverter. Everywhere they write that they work barely audibly, are very economical and durable ... I even came up with the following comparison for myself: remember how the lights gradually go out at movie shows? So the inverter compressor also smoothly either reduces or increases power when the chamber needs to be frosted or, conversely, reduce the supply of cold. No peak, no stress loads, and the accuracy of maintaining the temperature in a confined space - watchmakers will envy!

It is a pity that so far with technical progress I am not on my way. Do you know how much more expensive inverter refrigerators are than conventional ones? About one and a half times. It’s better that I’ll regularly visit a beauty salon for six months ...

But the main problem in another: inverter compressors are still extremely vulnerable - they are unlikely to survive at least one unpredictable power surge. And during the summer summer they run for an electrician ten times, no less. So a personal electrician should have been attached to the inverter kit ...

Freshness zone and a couple of little things

Perhaps I am ready to accept the fact that the freshness zone in my country refrigerator will be in the form of a separate compartment, but without a separate fan and evaporator. Such a simplified model will obviously be cheaper. In a chamber with a drip system, greens from the garden and berries will fall into the already humid environment with a weeping wall, and mass will not spoil the extra 3-4 degrees above zero in the fleeting country life.

If I was looking for a refrigerator for a city apartment, then I would have come up with the whole arsenal to choose a freshness zone modern technologies. If fresh vegetables and fruits are stored in the refrigerator for more than a week, then + 5 ° C is not very suitable for this. Parsley, for example, will quickly begin to wither. We need a special zero chamber with its own sensors and its own cooling device.

There are such refrigerators on sale, but you can’t call them budget ones anymore: their cost exceeds 40-45 thousand rubles. Moreover, in more expensive models there are two autonomous boxes with zero temperature: one has high humidity for the gifts of nature, and the other - reduced, for fresh meat and fresh fish, which is very convenient, because it allows each type of product to be stored for as long as possible in fresh. The double zero zone has only one drawback - the price, it starts at 50 thousand rubles, and such models are also more energy-intensive.

On the question of manual control

If our president often switches to manual control of the country, what can we say about us, country housewives? Of course, I choose a refrigerator for the summer without any automation and electronics, with a simple mechanical control through a rotary knob. Twisted and adjusted. Simple, reliable, inexpensive.

By the way, I would think very hard whether to take in city apartment refrigerator with digital control. It’s beautiful, of course, when the touch buttons helpfully flash on the door panel, the temperature is displayed, all modes are set exactly ... But how long will all this electronics last? Sensors and electronic board constantly tormented by the load: all day, all year, it turned on, then turned off, then plus, then minus, and the humidity is either high or low ...

One gray-haired master said: electronics are a great reason to repair a refrigerator. Try putting your favorite tablet in the freezer every now and then. How long will the tablet last?

My attempt number five

I like the way Masha Sharapova plays tennis. He will shout on the court, you will immediately cheer up ... So I decided to hold a virtual Grand Slam tournament among the models suitable for me. As a result of the Olympic elimination system, there will be only one refrigerator left, which I will buy for our dacha.

So, for the final tournament, models are invited that satisfy the following conditions: volume - 350-450 l, width - 68-80 cm, two chambers, two doors, control - electromechanical. Still, I decided not to strictly limit my choice by the type of defrosting. It would be better if we objectively assess a broader set of factors.

HOTPOINT ENTMH 18320 VW O3

Two-chamber refrigerator with top freezer HOTPOINT ENTMH 18320 VW O3

DIMENSIONS: 181x70x70x cm.

VOLUME: total 414 l, refrigerator 332 l, freezer - 82 l.

FREEZER CAMERA: manual defrosting, freezing power up to 2 kg / day, autonomous cold storage up to 20 hours.

REFRIGERATION CAMERA: drip defrosting system, durable glass shelves.

DESIGN: 1 compressor, refrigerant - R600a (isobutane), noise level up to 47 dB.

POWER USAGE: class A++ (256 kWh/year).

PRICE: 55 990 rubles.

First of all, I would like to note its efficiency (class A ++ is very cool), which is largely achieved due to the simplicity of the drip defrosting system. And the thermal insulation of the case is also here high level- autonomously, the refrigerator can store food for almost a day! The safest and most inert gas R600a is used as a refrigerant. And the shelves here are glass, more durable than plastic, they are better washed and do not absorb excess odors. But still, I won’t buy this model, because it’s a little expensive and I would like a bigger freezer.

LG GC-B519 PMCZ

Two-chamber refrigerator with bottom freezer LG GC-B519 PMCZ

DIMENSIONS: 167x70x72 cm.

VOLUME: total 452 l, refrigerator - 297 l, freezer - 155 l.

FREEZER CAMERA: No Frost, freezing capacity up to 12 kg/day, autonomous cold storage up to 18 hours, ice mold with a rotary mechanism.

REFRIGERATION CAMERA: No Frost, durable glass shelves, dedicated freshness zone.

DESIGN: 1 compressor, noise level up to 41 dB.

POWER USAGE: class A++ (257 kWh/year).

PRICE: 52,705 rubles.

About LG refrigerators, consultants said that this brand has a whole line of reliable and well-built. If a freshness zone is declared, then it is real, with an adjustable temperature.

As a rule, inverter linear compressors are installed in LG models - economical and quiet. Therefore, even with double No Frost, this model has the highest energy class A ++, and the actual noise level is noticeably less than 41 dB.

I really liked this model: the freezer is super-capacious, powerful. Yes, and you will get tired of loading the refrigerator. Thermal insulation is also at a high level - it will last 18 hours if the light is turned off. By the way, inverter compressors in combination with No Frost very quickly bring frost and cold into the chambers. It’s even a pity that I still don’t dare to buy such an expensive refrigerator for giving.

WHIRLPOOL WTV 4597 NFCIX

Two-chamber refrigerator with a top freezer WHIRLPOOL WTV 4597 NFCIX

DIMENSIONS: 189.5x71x71.5x cm.

VOLUME: total 450 l, refrigerator - 341 l, freezer - 109 l.

FREEZER CAMERA: No Frost, freezing power up to 14 kg/day, super freezing, temperature indication, autonomous cold storage up to 24 hours.

REFRIGERATION CAMERA: drip system, glass shelves.

DESIGN: 1 compressor, noise level 42 dB.

POWER USAGE: class A+ (386 kWh/year).

PRICE: 60 990 rubles.

Well, what can I say? In terms of volume, very a good option, roomy, the shelves are conveniently located, the niches on the door are also very, very suitable. Powerful freezing, powerful super freezing mode. AND offline work record-breaking without an outlet - exactly a day! Electricity consumption, however, will be slightly higher, but on a yearly basis, the difference will be almost imperceptible. Everything would be fine, but the price is still for country option bites. And I didn’t really like how it makes noise: it is written about the noise of 42 dB, but by ear, in my opinion, it is louder.

SHARP SJ-58CSL

Two-chamber refrigerator with top freezer SHARP SJ-58CSL

DIMENSIONS: 167x70x72 cm.

VOLUME: total 437 l, refrigerator - 329 l, freezer - 108 l.

FREEZER CAMERA: No Frost, freezing power up to 6.5 kg / day, autonomous cold storage up to 13 hours.

REFRIGERATION CAMERA: No Frost, there is a freshness zone, glass shelves, sound indication of an open door.

DESIGN: 1 compressor, noise level up to 42 dB.

POWER USAGE: class A (474 kWh/year).

PRICE: 49 990 rubles.

For the price, Sharp's SJ line of refrigerators is quite attractive. For such a volume of 437 liters, and even with double No Frost, this is a very attractive option. Energy class A does not bother me either, it is worse than that of previous models. But how much will burn too much in a short holiday season? But how much is placed! All storage space is well thought out here: glass shelves, rearranged to different height, and in door niches will accommodate half of the refrigerator.

By the way, the compressors in Sharp are native, Japanese. They do not like to make noise: when the compressor turns on, the refrigerator will shudder slightly and either purr or purr - and barely audible. The masters said that Japanese engines would work in one breath for 20 years, changing them extremely rarely.

ATLANT XM 6224-180

Two-chamber refrigerator with the bottom location of the freezer ATLANT ХМ 6224-180

DIMENSIONS: 195.5x69.5x62.5 cm.

VOLUME: total 401 l, refrigerator - 280 l, freezer - 121 l.

FREEZER CAMERA: manual defrost, minimum temperature in the freezer - -18°C, super-freezing, freezing capacity up to 15 kg/day, autonomous cold storage up to 20 hours.

REFRIGERATION CAMERA: drip defrost system, glass shelves,

DESIGN: 2 compressors, refrigerant - R600a (isobutane), noise level - up to 40 dB.

POWER USAGE: class A+ (318 kWh/year).

PRICE: 30 200 rubles.

Perhaps the clear leader in terms of price-quality ratio: the refrigerator is wide, roomy, the shelves are comfortable, glass, durable. I sniffed the camera from the inside, and it smells somehow pleasant, like toys smelled like in childhood, you can immediately see that the plastic used here is solid.

Not so often you will find a model with two compressors for such a modest price, which independently serve the refrigerator and freezer. Very convenient, the freezer thaws, and the refrigerator keeps watch. Or vice versa.

I read reviews - the model is so cold and freezing that everyone is happy. And everyone notes its extremely quiet operation. Compressors turn on rarely and almost inaudibly. Miracles! The efficiency of this model is also at a decent level: class A + for two engines is an excellent result!

By the way, these days a lot good reviews I read about Atlant: reliable refrigerators, they sell a lot, they are clear leaders in their segment. In addition, corporate service is widely developed, and product quality control is well established at the plant itself.

The only inconvenience, as it seemed to me, is the lower freezer, and even with drawers. However, this far-fetched minus soon turned into an obvious plus. Familiar craftsmen said in unison that all refrigerators with a lower freezer are successfully repaired if they suddenly stop freezing over time.

I think our tournament of refrigerators on this "feed" and ended. It's time to move out to the store and then with the new one ATLANT- straight to the dacha!

Or even cooker, but you can’t do without a large “cold box”.

This is the largest device, which is a special device that can support low temperature inside an insulated chamber. Here you can store not only food products, but also some other items that need cold, such as cosmetics, medicines and others. Refrigerators are widely used not only in homes, but also in large meat processing plants, catering establishments, as well as in production.

To do right choice, there are several criteria, in accordance with you can choose the model of this home appliance. Here are the main selection criteria:

    Size

The standard dimensions of the refrigerator are as follows: the width is from 55-75 cm and above, the depth reaches 65 cm, and the height is from 85 to 210 cm. There are also “Asian-type” models that are no longer extended in height, like European ones, but in width.

According to the dimensions, refrigeration devices can be divided mainly into 4 groups.

Group A includes small single-chamber models that are narrow and low, may have a small built-in freezer compartment. Such refrigerators reach 55 cm wide, up to 160 cm high and 60 cm deep.

These very compact models are convenient for use in the country or in the office. Such appliances are popular among students and the elderly, and are also widely used as a mini-bar and in hotel rooms.

IN group B includes standard European models- two-chamber, with a depth and width of about 60x60 cm and a height of 170 to 210 cm. The volume in them reaches 350 liters, so these models are ideal for a family of 4 people.

IN group C refrigerated cabinets of the so-called "Asian standard" are combined, which are low, wide models of small size with rounded shapes and a freezer, which is usually located on top. These models can be both single-chamber and two-chamber. They are able to retain more volume due to the increased width (over 80 cm) and depth and low height (up to 170 cm). Such a refrigerator will be enough for a family of 3 people.

The next group is group D, which includes quite high (190-210 cm) with a large volume (up to 800 l standard width, which is 60 cm) types of this technique. However, for people with small stature, the models of this group will be very inconvenient to use.

    Volume

The volume is of 2 types: general and useful. The total volume determines the internal empty space of the refrigerator, and the usable volume indicates the volume of food that is placed in the refrigerator compartment. First of all, you should take into account the useful volume in order to find out which model is able to accommodate the products necessary for the buyer and his family. In the event that you want to store a lot of frozen food for a long time, then you are recommended to purchase equipment equipped with a large freezer.

The refrigerator has a volume of 200-350 liters, which primarily depends on the height of the household appliance. As a rule, the refrigerator and freezer compartments are located one above the other and have separate doors.

Refrigerating chambers and their mutual arrangement

There are not only well-known single-chamber or single-door models, but also multi-chamber ones. Now more common are combined models equipped with refrigerators and freezers. Most often, the freezer is located under the refrigerator, as this location is most convenient for use.

Single chamber models that differ a high degree reliability and affordable price are also quite in demand. The disadvantage of such equipment is that it is necessary to periodically defrost in order to get rid of frozen ice on the walls of the freezer.

Three-chamber refrigerators have a "freshness zone" where the temperature is zero. The third chamber is designed specifically for perishable products, since at a temperature of 0 ° C - +2 ° C, bacteria multiply very weakly. Another plus is that the chamber, which is a zone of zero temperature, is divided into wet and dry parts.

    Number of compressors

A compressor is a motor whose task is to move the refrigerant inside the refrigerator, which is why cooling occurs. The single-chamber refrigerator is equipped with one compressor, while large-capacity models have two compressors.

If a large refrigerator is equipped with only one compressor, then this household equipment will be produced at a lower price. However, there is also a drawback here: one motor will work simultaneously for two compartments, that is, when the temperature drops in one of the chambers (refrigerator or freezer), the other will be cooled at the same time, and the compressor will spend additional electrical energy. One motor is not capable of cooling many products in a short time, so it is preferable to choose a model with two compressors. Then each motor will lower the temperature in the chamber allotted to it, and the cooling can be regulated.

Another plus in having two compressors is that the consumer will be given the opportunity to turn off one of them. In this case, one compartment can be washed, while the second will remain in working order.

    "No Frost" system

A refrigerator equipped with a "No Frost" or automatic defrosting system does not need to be defrosted. Such household equipment has many advantages. The benefit to the consumer is that:

    • There is no need to periodically defrost the refrigerator yourself;
    • Products are stored longer, while not freezing to each other and not overgrown with frost;
    • More economical energy consumption is ensured due to the operation of the compressor with less load.

The No Frost system works according to the following principle: a special fan circulates the air inside the chamber, after which the flow passes through a hose and enters the evaporator. Some time later, the fan stops its operation, and instead of it, the heater turns on for a few seconds, which turns the frost into water that flows down after and a special container, which is heated to 90 ° C.

The disadvantages of the automatic defrosting system include the loud noise of operation and the volume that the system itself occupies inside the chamber. However, despite this, "No Frost" will provide you with fast and uniform cooling of products.

This technique can be controlled in two ways. The first is electromechanical, which is more familiar to everyone. Such control consists in turning the thermostat knob, which is located either inside the chamber or on the upper plane of the refrigerator.

The electronic method consists in the presence of a special electronic control panel equipped with a digital display and a remote control, on which you can see all the information about its operation.

    Climate class

Any company for each of its manufactured models indicates that temperature external environment at which the equipment will work normally. According to the standard, there are 4 climatic classes, each of which has its own designation in Latin letters:

N- normal climate class. The model can work with outside temperature from +16 °С to +32 °С.

SN- such letters indicate the subnormal climate class. The optimum ambient temperature is from +10 °С to +32 °С.

ST- designation of the subtropical climate class. The equipment is designed to work in an environment where the temperature ranges from +18 °C to +38 °C.

T– Tropical class. Operates at ambient temperature from +18 °С to +43 °С.

On the Russian market for the most part, there are refrigerators with N- and SN-classes. The climate class can be found on the technical sticker.

Energy classes are also indicated in Latin letters. The most economical are Appliances under the letter "A". Classes "B" and "C" do not have sharp differences from the first and are also considered quite economical devices. But class models from “D” to “G” already have a higher energy consumption rate and are practically not produced. In addition, the classes not only differ from each other in the amount of energy consumed, but also in how long the equipment is able to work normally and maintain optimal temperature without electricity.

    Price and manufacturer

The total cost depends primarily on the number of chambers, on the functions of the device and on the defrosting system. Additionally, other factors also affect the price: energy class, the number of built-in compresses and, of course, the brand of the manufacturer. If there are any amenities (for example, an audible alarm, if the door is open for a long time, etc.), the price, of course, increases. average cost is in the range from 6 thousand to 20 thousand rubles, however, prices for branded models can be much higher.

Currently, refrigerators manufactured by the following companies are available to customers: Indesit, Zanussi, Bosh, Liebherr, Polar, as well as LG, Toshiba, Samsung, Siemens and many others. From Russian manufacturers Atlant, Biryusa, Morozko, Smolensk stand out.

    External and internal design

It is very important to pay due attention to the design of the chosen model - both internal and external. The refrigerator is purchased for a long time, so its design should be pleasing to the eye and harmoniously combined with.

Manufacturers now offer buyers a variety of models to choose from. different colors ranging from classic white to blue and black.

Choose the technique to your taste and use it for many years with pleasure!

We would like to supplement our article with videos from experts. There will be 2 of them. In the first, Elena Malysheva and the Living Healthy program will give her advice on choosing, and in the second, an expert will give recommendations. Whom you need to listen to more - decide for yourself:

He came, fell in love and bought - this is not about refrigerators. Any household appliances have to be carefully chosen, and even more so such an expensive one. A good refrigerator is worth the time to look for it. If you find the right model, it will ease the kitchen worries for the hostess and will last for many years. Which refrigerator to choose? Which of the manufacturers of household appliances to entrust their comfort? Let's deal with the most important parameters and make a list of the best brands.

Many articles have been written about choosing the best refrigerators. They have a mass useful information, but it is far from always possible to find instructions describing the algorithm for selecting the correct model. Due to the lack of a clear structure in the tips, it is easy to get confused.

    Kinds refrigeration equipment for home

So what is the best refrigerator to buy for your home? Let's take a look at the 5 main parameters that you need to pay priority attention to:

    1. Model dimensions and volume.
    2. Location, number, volume of freezers.
    3. Number and type of compressors.
    4. Defrost features.
    5. Presence/absence additional features.

Below we will consider in detail each of the characteristics, types of structures, their advantages and disadvantages. We will figure out which refrigerators are better in quality, we will offer a list of reliable brands.

compact model in a small kitchen

What causes errors when choosing a model

Modern man do not have to engage in daily hunting, gathering or animal husbandry. We receive all products in prepared form. The price of comfort is the need to properly store food, especially protein, which, when decomposed, releases extremely dangerous substances. That is why it is so important to choose a refrigerator that will keep food fresh for a long time.

The model should be large enough to fit all the supplies for the family. Each type of product is stored at certain temperature, and there should be enough space between the packages for free air circulation. It is desirable that at the same time the technique takes as much as possible less space and looked beautiful. There are many requirements, and each of them is important.

    Four-door three-dimensional model

If the model is not properly sized, then you will have to constantly limit the needs of the family and buy less food than necessary. Too much volume is also bad. The cameras will be empty, and electricity bills must be paid in full size. It is not profitable. An unsuitable design will be inconvenient to use, and a poor design will ruin appearance kitchens.

Bar in the refrigerator additional option which is not needed by everyone.

It is important to pay attention to brands of refrigerators. Saving on quality always turns into a hassle, additional costs for repairs. Do not trust dubious manufacturers, because real life much more prosaic than advertising promises. If in doubt which refrigerator to buy, advice professional master will be very helpful.

When choosing which refrigerator company is the best, you need to focus not only on the quality of the product itself, but also on service. Availability service center within reach is a nice bonus to a good brand of refrigerator. Otherwise, the first minor breakdown will be a real disaster.

How to choose the right equipment in terms of size and volume

Before you start looking for a reliable refrigerator for your home, you should decide on its size. Too much large equipment will create a feeling of tightness in the kitchen, and a small model may not be of sufficient volume. It is necessary to combine two main parameters - the desired volume and dimensions.

Dimensions: from the smallest to the largest

    • Small fridge. These are models with a height of 1-1.5 m and a width of up to 59 cm. They are suitable for installation in summer cottages, in offices. Often, such equipment is installed in hotel rooms or apartments intended for daily rent. There are models with limited functionality, such as minibars that can store drinks.

    • Standard Models. The standard is a height of 1.7-1.85 m and a width of 60 cm. This is a convenient household appliance, designed for the average small kitchen. Suitable for a family of 2-4 people.

    • European standard. These models can reach 2 m in height and 80 cm in width. A good choice for a spacious kitchen.

    European standard

    • side by side. Decide how to choose refrigeration equipment for big family? Multi-door Side-by-Side models are ideal for storing all the necessary supplies. They are very easy to use, because. divided into compartments for products of different types.

How to calculate the required volume

There is such a thing as “useful volume of the refrigerating chamber”, and this indicator may differ from the total volume by tens of liters, because. partitions take up a lot of space. When calculating, they are guided by average indicators - 120 liters per 1 person. Moreover, for each subsequent family member, not 120, but 60 liters are added.

Let's take an example of how to calculate the volume. If a person lives alone, then a modest model is enough for him, because. the maximum volume that is required is 120 liters. For two people, you need 180 liters of usable volume, for three - 240 liters, and for four - 300 liters. If there are often guests or it is customary in the family to buy food for the future, then add another 60 liters “in reserve”.

Features of models of different sizes:

    • 50 l. These are small models (80-90 cm in height), which are very noisy during operation. They need to be defrosted frequently.
    • 380 l. As a rule, these are two-chamber models. The capacity of freezers is 50-160 liters.
    • 400 l. These are three-chamber structures, sometimes with drawers at the bottom. Specifications can vary greatly depending on the manufacturer.
    • 500-800 l. These are overall two-door refrigerated cabinets, which often provide additional functions. The cost of such equipment depends on the number of functions, volume, brand.

Volumetric model of the South Korean brand

    Location and capacity of freezers

The large size of the equipment does not mean that the volume of freezers is enough for a family. Much of it also depends on their location. The volume of the upper chambers is a maximum of 200 liters, and the lower ones - up to 300 liters. This means that models of the same size can vary in capacity.

    Freezer placement options

Chambers can be equipped with several drawers. This is convenient if you need to freeze different types of food. For example, it is better to put meat and vegetables separately. Drawers are usually located in the lower freezers.

The advantage of Side-by-Side models lies in the large volume and lateral location of the freezer. To get food, you do not need to bend over or reach up. The useful volume of freezers of Side-by-Side equipment can reach 500 liters.

    Refrigerator for a large family

How the operation of equipment depends on the number of compressors

There are two main types of compressors - linear and inverter, and both are successfully used in the refrigeration industry. Often there are doubts about which refrigerator is better to buy - one or two compressor. Both options have their own advantages and disadvantages.

If there is only one compressor, then it turns on if the temperature rises in at least one chamber. In this case, the temperature in the second does not matter: the equipment still works. If there are two compressors, then the chambers are cooled separately, but the equipment itself consumes 20-30% more electricity.

So which refrigerator should you buy? It is believed that two compressor models are distinguished by a large resource and can last longer. In theory, this statement sounds correct, but in practice it is not confirmed.

The real benefits of dual compressor equipment are greater performance and the ability to turn off the chambers separately. Most often, for buyers, such nuances are not fundamental.

    Domestic refrigeration defrost systems

Experienced craftsmen, giving advice on choosing a refrigerator, focus on defrosting systems. There are three of them:

    • Drip. This type of defrost is designed so that the frost settles on the back wall of the freezer. When the compressor is turned off, the ice coating melts, and the water flows into a special container, where it evaporates.
    • No Frost. The mode is designed so that ice particles do not settle on the walls of the structure. Cold air is evenly distributed throughout the volume. Some models have cool zones where food slowly loses moisture and stays fresh for a long time.
    • Full no Frost. This is a variation of the No Frost system with separate defrost for the evaporator.

Important nuances: additional functions and features

How to choose a good refrigerator and pay only for what is really useful? pay attention to additional features technology. At first it seems that they are not needed, but some of them really make life easier:

    • Super cooling. This feature will be appreciated by hostesses, to whom guests may unexpectedly descend. Warm foods and drinks can be cooled down to +2 degrees in a matter of minutes. In the summer, this opportunity is priceless.
    • Super freeze. Fresh vegetables, fruits, hand-cooked semi-finished products can be frozen without losing palatability. This mode is ideal for workpieces for future use. The temperature in the freezer drops to -24 degrees.
    • "Vacation". Which refrigerator is more reliable and profitable? The one that can take care of the contents of the freezer in the absence of the owners and does not spend extra resources. In Holiday mode, the freezer operates in standard mode, and the refrigerator compartment is cooled to a minimum. This system allows you to save on electricity bills.
    • Electronic control. In modern technology, conventional thermostats or systems can be installed electronic control. Models of the second type are much more convenient, because You can program the temperature to the nearest degree.
    • Antibacterial protection. This can be either a special coating on the inner chambers or a silver ion generator. Such systems prevent the growth of bacteria in order to preserve food longer. Expensive but very practical. If you are considering which refrigerator to buy, and the budget can withstand the additional load, take a model with a silver ion generator.

Which company's refrigerator is better to buy - rating

Step-by-step video instruction for choosing a refrigerator

We offer a video instruction that will help you navigate the priorities:

Only the buyer himself can decide which company to choose a refrigerator for the home. A lot of it depends on personal preference. The main thing is that the chosen model meets the quality criteria and is energy efficient (ideally, Super A class). Ask sellers, read descriptions of models and reviews about them on the Web. Make the final decision, relying only on common sense, and not on advertising. If in doubt, ask questions to repair technicians.

In the first refrigerators, people used natural sources of cold - ice and snow.

In 1803, the American Thomas Moore, for the transportation of oil, built a metal box in which oil was placed.
The box was wrapped in rabbit skins and placed in a bucket of cedar, then covered with ice on top.
Moore filed a patent for the invention, calling his brainchild "refrigerator".

American physician John Gorey, in 1850 received artificial ice.

    "Monitor Top" 1926

The apparatus created by Gori used the compression cycle technology (used in modern refrigerators) and could be used as an air conditioner and a refrigerator.

industrial production artificial ice, began with the invention by Carl von Linde in 1879 of an apparatus with a compressor and the use of ammonia.

In 1895, a French physicist created design refrigerator with good heat exchange, easy maintenance and automatic control.

In 1910, the General Electric company launched the production of refrigerators, called "Odifren" in honor of the inventor, and produced almost 18 years. The refrigerator was used both in everyday life and in trade.

In 1926, General Electric acquired a patent for the invention of engineer Christian Strinstrup, it was a sealed safe and silent refrigerator, the electric motor and compressor were hidden by a hood. In total, more than a million "Monitor Top" refrigerators have been sold.

In the early 30s, refrigerators were produced in which freon was used as a refrigerant.
In the 1940s, refrigerators were equipped with a freezer compartment, and later freezer cabinets appeared.

The principle of operation of refrigerators.

The principle of operation of refrigerators and freezers is the same, despite the difference in operating temperatures.

Cooling in the refrigerator occurs due to the circulation of gas (refrigerant) inside the system.

During operation of the refrigerator (freezer), the refrigerant enters the compressor (11), where it is compressed and under pressure enters the condenser (14) located at the rear of the refrigerator.

Passing through the condensate tubes (condenser), the gas is cooled and liquefied and then filtered in the filter-drier and enters the evaporator (16) through the capillary tube.

The evaporator (cooling plate) is located behind the back wall of the refrigerator and extends into the freezer.

In the evaporator, the refrigerant boils (the boiling point of the refrigerant is below 0 degrees), when boiling, the refrigerant takes heat from inner space the refrigerator thereby cools the food.

When boiling in the evaporator, the refrigerant turns into a gas and into gaseous state back to the compressor.
Since the system is sealed, the process continues until the temperature in the refrigerator reaches the set point, at which the thermostat will mark the temperature in the refrigerator and turn off the compressor.

    Types of refrigerators.

    - single-chamber refrigerator

    - two-chamber refrigerator

    - three-chamber refrigerator

    - fridge side by side

    - fridge french door

single chamber fridge- consists of one chamber and freezer compartment.
Freezer compartment for single-chamber refrigerators small size, there are models in which the freezer compartment may be completely absent.

    Special view single-chamber refrigerators -.

    Consists of two chambers:

    cooling chamber
    - freezer

Each chamber has a separate door.

The freezer can be located in various models both from above and from below.

The refrigerating chamber can be divided into two (or more than two) compartments:
    - for fruits and vegetables where humidity is high (90%)
    - meat (fish) humidity (50%).

    Three-chamber fridge
    - such type of refrigerators consists of three chambers:

    cooling chamber
    - freezer
    - zero camera

The zero chamber (freshness chamber) is designed to store chilled products at a temperature close to zero.

In this mode, the products remain fresh and do not lose their beneficial properties.

The zero chamber can be divided into two compartments:
    - dry freshness compartment (low humidity)
    - moist freshness compartment (high humidity)

Products can be placed in the high or low humidity compartment, depending on the food storage recommendation.

Each chamber of the refrigerator has a separate door, there are models in which the doors can be re-hung (to open in the other direction).
Usually this type of refrigerators has a large size.

    Premium refrigerators come from America.

Due to this arrangement, the freezer has a large volume, so there is no need to have a separate freezer for those who store a lot of frozen products.
Refrigerators side by side can have a height of 170 to 215 centimeters.
Width from 80 to 125 centimeters and depth from 63 to 91 centimeters (models conventional refrigerators have standard depth 60 centimeters).
Volume 500 liters for refrigerator side by side considered the norm.

Refrigerators side by side equipped with an electronic control panel, using the multifunctional display, you can set the desired temperature for each compartment.
Most refrigerator models side by side They have an ice generator as well as a dispenser for supplying ice cubes and cold water.

Refrigerators side by side by design and functionality compares favorably with other models of refrigerators.

    Fridge french door.

Refrigerators French Door (French door) have gained popularity in the last decade.

The name comes from the three-door ice storage cabinets produced by the Frigidaire company in the 1930s, which were widely used in France.

The cupboards were only for storing ice, it was not yet an electrical appliance.

In refrigerators french door the refrigerator compartment is usually located above the freezer (rarely under the freezer), which is different from refrigerators side by side, where the freezer and refrigerator compartments are located on the same level.

The refrigerator compartment in French Door refrigerators opens with two doors.

The freezer compartment can be opened with one or two doors or have a freezer in the form of a drawer (chest freezer).

Refrigerators french door with sliding chests have a number of advantages compared to refrigerators where the freezer compartment is opened with the help of doors (doors).

When the drawer is pulled out, less cold is lost, the design of the drawer is more resistant to wear.

The only inconvenience of refrigerators with drawer is a search problem
products if the box has a large volume, but models with two or three small drawers have appeared.

Refrigerators french door compared to refrigerators side by side more compact, but due to the design, large-sized dishes can be placed on wide shelves.

Refrigerators french door with the same height and depth, they have a useful volume of about 400 liters, while ordinary refrigerators have a volume of 300 - 350 liters, small Side by Said have a large volume (about 500 liters), the volume is achieved due to the width.

French Door refrigerators are an intermediate option for whom the volume of ordinary refrigerators is not sufficient, but Side by Said refrigerators are large and expensive.
Like Side by Said refrigerators, French Door refrigerators are often equipped with an ice maker and water dispenser, and due to their impressive size and hinged doors, French Door refrigerators are often confused with Side by Said.

Exists view refrigerators that incorporate the best of refrigerators french door And Side by Said.

In terms of dimensions, such a refrigerator is closer to Side by Said, the freezer is located below and is divided into two separate freezers, which are located on the same level.

The refrigerator has four doors, two on top close the refrigerator compartment and two on the bottom for two freezers.

In such refrigerators, small freezer compartments reliably keep cold, and narrow doors of the refrigerator compartment are reliable and convenient.

    Refrigerator constructor.

In the base model, design The refrigerator consists of four independent modules and a compressor base.

Each module has a compartment for vegetables, a freezer compartment, a shelf for storing bottles.

Manual- used in old or not expensive refrigerators, when ice forms, the refrigerator is disconnected from the mains and waiting for complete defrosting.

semi-automatic- depending on the recommendations in the instructions, for example, press the defrost button once a week, the refrigerator will do the rest.

Automatic- defrosts itself according to the system "No Frost" or by the drip principle (weeping wall).

Drip principle - frost forms on the wall of the refrigerator, in the intervals when the compressor is turned off, the frost on the wall (evaporator) melts, water flows down the wall into the groove.
The frequency of the process depends on the set temperature in the chamber, the load of the refrigerator and the temperature environment.
    - such refrigerator type has one compressor for the freezing and refrigerating chambers, respectively, a single temperature controller.
    1 - compressor
    2 - discharge pipeline
    3 - capacitor
    4 - filter dryer
    5 - capillary tube
6 - evaporator of the refrigerating chamber
    7 - freezer evaporator
    8 - suction pipeline
You have to defrost the entire refrigerator; it will not work to defrost one of the chambers separately.

There are models of a single-compressor refrigerator with two cooling circuits with a solenoid valve.

Just like on a two-compressor refrigerator, on a single-compressor refrigerator with a solenoid valve, you can turn off the refrigerator compartment and adjust temperature regime separately for refrigerator and freezer compartments.

Refrigerator with solenoid valve and two cooling circuits best option energy consumption and price.

    Double compressor:
-design The refrigerator provides the ability to regulate the temperature separately in each chamber, as well as to defrost one of the chambers separately.
The refrigerator is equipped with two compressors and from each compressor there is a cooling circuit for each chamber.

    1 - compressor
    2 - suction tube
    3 - capillary tube
4 - evaporator of the refrigerating chamber
    5 - freezer evaporator
    6 - capacitor
    7 - filter dryer
    8 - injection tube

If one compressor fails, the second compressor will work on two circuits.

Due to the low load on the compressors, the refrigerator has a low energy consumption and the compressors work optimally without overloads.

    Refrigerator type:

    - compression type refrigerators
    - absorption type refrigerators
    - thermoelectric type of refrigerators
    - steam jet type refrigerators

compression- to circulate the refrigerant, a compressor and an electric motor are used. Currently, this is the most common refrigerator type.

Absorption type refrigerators- used to circulate the refrigerant a heating element. Cooling and movement of the refrigerant occurs due to the temperature of the heater and pressure.

Such a silent refrigerator has no moving parts, but consumes a lot of electricity, is difficult to manufacture, and is not safe.
Ammonia is used as a refrigerant.
Currently absorption (silent refrigerator) refrigerator type almost never produce.

Thermoelectric refrigerator type- the principle of operation is based on the absorption of heat at the point of contact of semiconductors, when passing through them electric current. The scope of such type of refrigerators limited.

Steam ejector refrigerator type- in household appliances this principle of operation is not used.

Modern refrigerators have indicators such as the operating temperature range (usually around -18 in the freezer), but there is a "quick freeze" or "superfreeze" mode, in such modes the temperature is lower.

    Control type:

    - mechanical type of control

    - electronic control type

    - Internet refrigerator

Mechanical type of control- the temperature is regulated manually by a thermostat, the mode is simply selected more or less.

Electronic control type- the mode of operation of the refrigerator is selected on the display of the refrigerator, the display also shows the actual temperature in the chamber or chambers

    Internet refrigerator.
With the increase in the number of functions of modern refrigerators, it became necessary to convenient system management.

So there were refrigerators with a touch screen and Internet access, in fact, with a built-in tablet.

The refrigerator computer may contain a database of all known products, the refrigerator may be equipped with a webcam and a barcode scanner.

Such refrigerators are designed to become assistants in the formation healthy eating, when compiling a diet, the refrigerator will determine the type and calorie content of the product, compare it with the user's body weight, and in case of excess calories in the products, warn the owner.

    Refrigerators support wireless Wi-Fi.
With this connection, the refrigerator can communicate with home network and go online.
That allows you to make purchases in online stores, look for recipes for cooking, and use all the features of the World Wide Web.

    Power consumption of the refrigerator.

Consumed power refrigerator depends on the volume of freezers and cold rooms refrigerator, the larger the volume of the chambers, the greater the consumption.

Also consumed power Depending on the amount of food in the refrigerator, a loaded refrigerator will consume more electricity than an empty one.

The power consumption of a refrigerator is affected by the operating conditions, summer period To maintain the set temperature, the refrigerator will consume more electricity than in winter.

Usually, the energy consumption of a refrigerator is indicated as kWh per day at an ambient temperature of 25 degrees, while the refrigerator works for a certain time and rests for the same amount of time.

On average, modern refrigerators consume from 1100 to 1500 watts per day or 45 to 60 watts per hour.

In continuous operation mode, consumption ( power) refrigerator about 90 - 120 watts per hour.

Refrigerators are divided into energy classes.

    Class A, A+, A++ - low power consumption.

Class B - economical energy consumption.

Class C - economical energy consumption.

    Class D, E, F and G - high energy consumption

Modern refrigerators are distinguished by climate class.
