Drawing of an ordinary shelf. Do-it-yourself shelves on the wall: we make a shelf on the wall with step-by-step instructions. Unusual do-it-yourself shelf in the children's room

Photo: at the request of Yandex and Google

Many call wall shelves your favorite element of decor in an apartment or house. And for good reason: books with beautiful covers, original forms, elegant tableware, knick-knacks and travel souvenirs... All this instantly transforms the room. You can, of course, look into any furniture store and choose the option you like, or you can put a little human warmth and imagination into this thing: we suggest making a shelf with your own hands!

Unusual bookshelves: in the shape of a circle

The round shape is not just stylish. A round bookshelf will allow you to significantly save space by accommodating a lot of little things. Making it by hand is really easy: follow our photo instructions.

What material to use? We recommend using fiberboard sheet. This material is inexpensive and yet quite durable. Plus, it bends really well. You will also need a board (its role is the central shelf in our circle shelf). Choose the length yourself, depending on what size book shelf you need.

Let's get started: the success of the work is in exact calculation. For convenience, we suggest you use the formula. d is the diameter of our circle, on which the size of the board in the center depends. Formula - l \u003d 3.14 x d / 2.

Calculation example: if the board is 150 by 700 mm in size, then the length of the semicircle will be 1100 millimeters (3.14x700 / 2).

Now we take a sheet of fiberboard, put markings on it (you can use a marker). Carefully form a circle. The edges of the strips need to be fixed: you can use high-quality glue in a gun. Bend the strips very carefully, as they may crack, despite the fact that the material is considered relatively strong. Before you finally fasten the strips, check how the shelf from the board is installed in the center. If the calculations were accurate, then there will be no problems with this. The shelf is almost ready! We finish with painting: it can be just varnish, or paint of the color you need. We recommend hanging such an unusual shelf-circle on screws. The shelf is ready with your own hands - see the photo below.

Wooden bookshelf: use rope rope

Such wooden shelves, as in this master class, are perfect for an interior in or. And its shape is very versatile: it is suitable for both the kitchen, living room and bathroom.

What material to use? This shelf must be made of natural wood. We will need two boards (maybe three, depending on how many shelves you need). Boards must be the same size.

Let's get started: on two (three) boards we mark the places where there will be holes. We make holes with a drill (as in the photo below). Keep in mind that the diameter of the drill bit should be slightly larger than the diameter of the ropes that will connect the shelf. It is desirable to paint the boards in any tone to your taste.

Advice! This shelf allows you to show imagination. You can make it more original, if for example, paint the boards only from the ends.

Our bookshelf is almost ready: it remains only to assemble the structure. The rope rope must be folded in half, retreat about thirty centimeters, and tie knots (see photo). The ends are pulled through holes in the boards, fixed with knots. Ready! See the instructions below for a photo of wall shelves made by yourself.

Wall mounted bookshelf with straps

We would call this shelf the simplest in our material. And it looks hanging shelf on belts is quite impressive, and fits into almost any interior. All you need is a well sanded board and two fairly wide belts. If the tree does not seem very expressive to you, then feel free to paint the board in any tone. Remove all accessories from belts, including buckles. We make small holes at the ends of the belts, as in the photo below. We fold the straps into a loop, fix them on the wall, thread the board, and voila - the bookshelf on the straps is ready!

Bookshelf with glass

The glass shelf is too neutral for any style. You can make it quickly and easily from materials that a good owner will almost always have:

  • a hammer;
  • two identical pieces of tempered rectangular glass;
  • electric drill;
  • building level;
  • dowels;
  • aluminum profile;
  • pencil and ruler;
  • some duct tape.

Cutting glass is a difficult and far from safe process, so we do not talk about it in detail, but simply suggest that you order this service in special workshops. The edges will be sanded and polished there.

Stage 1: do markup. On the wall where our shelf will hang, draw a horizontal line with a pencil. In places where it will be attached, we make holes with a drill.
Stage 2: install a profile or special holders for the shelf. We fasten the brackets to the screws.
Stage 3: fix the shelf. The rear edge of the shelf is closed with adhesive tape. We insert the shelf into the profile, fix it. We hope you are convinced that glass wall shelves are really easy to make!

Step-by-step photo instructions for making a bookshelf with your own hands

We offer you to get acquainted with a variety of ideas on how to make shelves from drywall, newspapers, plastic, pipes and other materials at hand ... Get inspired!

Pipe shelf

A pipe shelf can simultaneously perform the function of a sconce. The ideal place is above the bed, sofa or armchair: in general, the place where you like to read.

Wooden bathroom shelf

Simple and graceful. To wooden shelf for the bathroom lasted longer, cover it with a special varnish or film. We also recommend adding hooks to the bathroom shelf, on which it will be convenient to hang hand towels, nail scissors, combs and other trifles.

A shelf is the simplest piece of furniture that you can make with your own hands, their manufacture will not require any special skills, with the possible exception of two - moderation and accuracy, as Molchalin from the play “Woe from Wit” would say. At the place of installation, the shelves are wall-mounted, floor-mounted and suspended. If a floor shelf has a large height - from a meter and above it is often called a rack. A few words about hanging ones: usually these are decorative structures that hang on a pipe or a specially driven bracket. This option is popular in those rooms where heating pipes run under the ceiling: they just ask to be hung on something. Shelves are hung on the pipe in the kitchen and in the bathroom: it is convenient there.

Types of shelves

They are made from wood, plywood, laminated chipboard, fiberboard, glass shelves. The same materials are used as racks, but they are also made of metal, plastics and other absolutely incredible things - for example, pipes or bottles.

In living rooms, it is not so important what material the shelf is made of. It is important that its design is in the same style as the interior. Even functionality is not always important: some play exclusively decorative role. On them, if there is something, then one or two items. Their role is to give the interior of the home special style and color.

If we talk about shelves in technical rooms - the kitchen and the bathroom, in particular, then practicality requirements are added to aesthetic considerations almost everywhere. Even decorative shelves in the kitchen should be well washed. For shelves in the bathroom, in general, the requirements are high: periodically there is very high humidity and materials are required that tolerate it without any harm. There aren't many of them. It's plastic and stainless steel. They also make bathroom shelves from MDF, but they are normally used with good ventilation in the bathroom.

What are the shelves made of?

Perhaps, to implement the task of creating shelves on their own, almost any material is suitable, of course, within reason. It is hardly appropriate to attach bulky brick structures, as this will additionally conceal free space. However, any of the relatively other materials is fine:

  1. Wood - classic version, since the vast majority of users choose it. It is very easy to work with such material due to its low weight (with small dimensions of the product) and it will last a long time if you use a wooden shelf in optimal conditions, that is, at a normal value of humidity in the room.
  2. Glass- such shelves look very modern and will never go out of fashion. True, to create products from this material, you need to have a special tool for cutting glass.
  3. Plastic- Affordable material. It is easy to handle and is not subject to mold formation, as is the case with wood. Especially if the shelves are built to be placed on a loggia or balcony.
  4. Metal- to work with such material you need welding machine if a fully metal shelf is planned. For combined products, it is enough to use a standard set of fasteners, and it is better if these areas are not visible to the eye.
  5. Chipboard or Alternative option - chipboard. The second of these materials is more wear-resistant due to increased resistance to indoor humidity, temperature extremes and mechanical deformations, such as abrasion.
  6. Drywall- most often used when the shelf is part of the design of the room, that is, through this material a niche is formed in the wall.

The choice of option should be determined not only by the financial capabilities of the owner of the premises, but also by his skills in construction area. Otherwise, the material will be irretrievably damaged, and the product at the output will turn out to be sloppy and generally unsuitable for use, especially in a conspicuous place.

Shelves on the wall

In any room on the wall there are places where you just need to hang something. After all, the majority modern furniture occupies only the lower part - sofas, tables, couches. Top part remains empty and dissonance arises: an overloaded lower part of the room and a half-empty or completely empty upper one. These voids on the walls are organically filled with shelves.

Corner shelf - an excellent solution Structurally, most of the shelves consist of the actual shelves and jumpers. But these components are combined in such a number of options that it is impossible to count. A simple design is good: you can make any shelves with your own hands. Moreover, these products can be the first self-made things. It's really simple.

How and what to mount

It is not in vain that we start with fasteners. The design of the shelf on the wall largely depends on the type of fastening. Or maybe vice versa. Looking from what to dance ...

Traditional loops

There is a traditional way - on loops. It is suitable for wood and fiberboard, any other material that is thick enough to attach. Screwed on with screws on the sides. Then, between the centers of the holes of the loops, the distance is measured, deposited on the wall (watch for horizontality). At the marked points, holes are drilled for the dowel, the dowel is inserted and a dowel-nail with a small cap is screwed into it, which enters the loop or bracket (the pin is slightly bent upwards). Then a shelf is hung on them.

Not all materials can be drilled. For example, glass shelves. You definitely can't screw anything into them. Mounts for glass shelves are special: they consist of two parts, between which glass is inserted. Often, elastic spacers are installed between the holders. The bottom fastener usually has a small clamping screw for fixing.

Fasteners for glass shelves

The most popular mount for glass shelves is called "pelican" - for its peculiar shape. It looks good and is available in different colors. The thickness of the glass that it can hold is from 8mm to 34mm. You can insert into it not only glass, but also any other material of this thickness. It just looks cool with glass.

It is easy to make glass shelves on the wall with it: buy a mount, order it in a glass workshop right size and shapes of pieces of glass with finished edges (or cut it yourself, if you can). What remains is the actual assembly:

  1. Attach the "pelicans" to the wall. Two dowels. The case is collapsible - the decorative overlay is removed, and there are two holes in the mounting plate. One in the case above, the second - below. Fixed, installed in place a decorative overlay.
  2. Inserted glass.
  3. Turned the screw. All.

There are other forms of similar fasteners. The photo below is a few of them.

Decorative brackets

Another type of fastening is brackets. They are reliable, some are decorative, so much so that they themselves are an ornament.

Concealed installation - shelves without support

And most amazing device for concealed installation. It makes it possible to hide fasteners. At the end, a seat is cut out for the pin and the body of the holder and the shelf is simply put on it.

As you can see, even simple board or a piece of glass on such mounts - that's not bad. But there is still a sea of all sorts of ideas.

Shelf design options

Do-it-yourself shelf in the form of honeycombs

A nice shelf made in the form of honeycombs can be a cool addition to a non-standard interior. A fashionable design is formed from hexagonal modules creating original geometric compositions. Everyone can arrange the blocks in the best way for themselves.

In spite of non-standard look, hexagonal blocks are quite convenient and functional, moreover, they are the strongest and most stable.

To make such a shelf with your own hands, you will need a standard set of tools and simple blanks from rectangular boards. You can assemble a structure from ready-made honeycombs in different ways:

  • fasten them to the wall separately;
  • first connect the modules together and only then fix.

The second option is undoubtedly more practical, since dust will not accumulate between the individual elements.

Let's see how to make a shelf in the form of honeycombs in practice

To get the right hexagon, boards for future design pruned at an angle of 30°.

Check again if they are the same size, proceed to assembly hexagons. Better to do it on the floor.

The block elements perfectly match one another and begin stick together boards using wood glue.

Attachment points for reliability amplify using L-shaped holders or screws. The brackets can be hidden by painting them the same color as the shelf.

Do the rest of the cells in the same way.

Finished modules carefully polished, then covered with stain and special varnish or painted. The shelf will look unusual if the honeycombs are painted in different colors.

It remains to fold the finished blocks side by side and drill one or two holes at the joints and twist them together.

DIY round shelf

The round shape of the shelf is unusual and stylish solution for those who do not particularly care how to place more things on it and save space in this way. It is easy to make such a shelf with your own hands. Success will be predetermined if you choose the right source material for the shelf and correctly calculate the dimensions of the parts.

Most available material, which is both strong enough and bends easily - this fiberboard sheet. Two strips of estimated length (l) are cut out of it. At the same time, a board of the desired length is also prepared as a central shelf. Obviously, all these parts should have the same width. Now about the length of the strips.

From the point of view of geometry, the central shelf is the diameter (d) of the outer contour of the future circle, and the stripes, respectively, are half the length of the contour, so they depend on each other and are interconnected by the formula - l=3.14 x d/2.

Let's say the dimensions of the board are 150 by 700 mm, then the length of the semicircle will be 3.14x700 / 2, that is, 1100 mm. Now let's calculate the length of the fiberboard strips, taking into account their overlap, say, 70 mm: 1100 + 2x70 = 1240 mm.

Now let's figure out how to make a shelf with your own hands using a fiberboard sheet.

Stepping back from the end sides by the amount of overlap, apply to the strips markup. Then proceed to form a circle.

The edges of the strips are pointed at each other according to the markings and fixed with clamps. Carefully, so that the material does not burst, the strips are slowly bent, overlapping the free edges on each other.

Before finally fixing all the parts with screws, you need to make sure that they are correctly fitted:

  • check how well the central shelf rises. We note right away that with correct calculations, as a rule, there are no problems with this;

The do-it-yourself shelf is almost ready. It remains to finish it: cover by paint, varnish or other decorative composition. They hang it through the furniture eyes on screws screwed into the wall.

DIY hanging shelves

When choosing an interior for a small apartment, many are wondering if it is possible to make a compact bookshelf with your own hands so that it does not take up much space. One of options- suspension structure.

To get started you need

The work is carried out in two stages: shelves and fastenings.

Prepare shelves, sawn to size.

Along their edges, holes of the same size must be provided.

hanging shelves with their own hands. Photo instruction

The template is pressed against the board from the edge, say, with the help of clamps, and make two holes, but not to the end - approximately to the middle of the thickness of the shelf.

Shelves handle sandpaper and separate. For example, you can color in suitable for design color.

The shelves are completely ready, it remains to hang them. Reliability in this case, given the impressive weight of the books, is no less important than aesthetics, so it is best to hang the structure cable.

It is cut into pieces in size and, using clamping clips, a loop is made at one end.

They are suspended and fixed along the entire length with the desired step. kegs.

Hooks with screws are attached strictly perpendicular to the wall, on which cables are hung, and already suspended shelves are attached to them.

Do-it-yourself hanging shelf-shelf

A charming hanging shelf in the kitchen with your own hands will allow you to rationally use the space. It will look great in the colonial living room, in the children's room in nautical style or a Mediterranean bath. Anyone can cope with such work, since you can make a shelf with your own hands in just a few simple steps.

blanks from a tree align both in shape and in size.

Mark places under holes and make them with a drill with a pen drill. In order to avoid problems in the future, the diameter of the drill is chosen larger than the diameter of the rope for which the whatnot will be hung.

Markup is easier to do pattern in the form of a 4x4 square cut out of paper. The template must be applied to the corner of the board and markup is made at the point of intersection of the diagonals of the square.

coloring boards.

There are many ways to make a shelf more interesting. You just need to show a little imagination, for example, paint it only from the ends.

Now the design can gather. The rope is folded in half and, stepping back about 30 cm, a knot is tied on each half. The ends are pulled through the holes on one side of the board and secured with another knot. The plank is thus fixed motionless between the two nodes. The process is repeated with each shelf, arranged with the desired step.

Do the same with the other side. The main thing that nodes on both sides are located at the same distance from each other.

The remaining free ends of the ropes are cut and unraveled to form brushes.

It remains to hang the finished bookcase on the wall.

Such a do-it-yourself shelf has several advantages:

DIY hanging shelves for photos

Is it possible and, most importantly, how to make a shelf on the wall so that it takes up very little space, and you can store a sufficient number of photos, albums, record collections and more there? Well, let's figure out how to make a shelf with your own hands so that it has a minimum depth.

This shelf actually represents several lath tied together with a rope. A bar is attached to them, which prevents photos, books, etc. from slipping off the shelf. In principle, there can be as many rails as you need, so first you need to decide on their location and number. So it will be much easier to calculate the width of the shelves and file blanks.

After the blanks skinned, planks are attached to the rails: they can be nailed or glued. The nail heads are carefully hidden under a layer of special putty, and the bar is sanded again.

Stepping back from the edges by 2 cm, two holes are drilled in the shelf with a diameter slightly larger than that of the rope.

From each end of the first shelf stretch rope, tightening at the ends along the knot.

It will be much easier to do this if you wrap the threaded edge of the rope with tape or, say, electrical tape.

Put on a second shelf.

The process is repeated until all are installed.

The free ends of the ropes are tied to screws with hooks screwed in at the correct height. This is perhaps the most crucial moment, since the bottom shelf should be located strictly horizontally, and all the rest will be aligned along it.

Horizontalness is checked by level, nevertheless, someone's help will be useful, because even knowing exactly how to make a shelf, it will be difficult for one to complete the last stage.

Christmas tree book shelf

Longer delay the incomparable new Year mood DIY creative bookshelf will help. Instead of garlands and toys, it is decorated with books and various cute little things. Such Christmas tree shelves are especially to the liking of the kids.

This shelf can be made from ordinary plywood sheet.

First you need to prepare a small layout plan all details on a sheet of paper on a scale corresponding to the size of plywood with an indication of their dimensions.

Then you need to transfer everything to plywood in the original size and after carefully checking the location and dimensions of the parts cut out them with a saw or jigsaw.

The Christmas tree is assembled on carpentry glue and fixed with nails.

When the workpiece dries, it is covered paint and give it time to dry completely.

The tree shelf is ready to use. Under New Year you can decorate it to your liking and even put gifts on the branches-shelves.

Here's how a DIY shelf can help bring joy to loved ones.

Do-it-yourself shelf-rack

The functional and minimalistic industrial style is very popular today. A do-it-yourself shelf assembled on pipes will bring to your home the very industrial chic that you may be striving for.

Since the number of shelves, as well as the total length of the pipes, is easily adjustable, let's focus on general scheme production of this designer furniture.

Work begins with the preparation of shelves from wood. They are applied with a special oil or wax to get a smooth textured surface.

It would be nice if the shelves initially had an interesting texture.

If you cover the shelves more and polyurethane varnish on the water based they will still acquire a magnificent radiance.

After allowing the structure to dry, in each corner of the lower shelf, round flanges about 2 cm from the edge.

The location of the connecting parts is marked with a pencil.

The shelves are stacked and clamped with clamps.

A pilot hole is drilled through the center of the flange through the first and second flanges. For the next boards in order, the size of the drill needs to be changed to a larger one, since pipes will pass through them in the future.

Start assembling.

Each flange is placed on the bottom shelf above the pilot hole and fixed to the surface.

Insert into holes galvanized pipes desired length, threaded at both ends and tightened in the flange wrench. A coupling is installed in the upper part.

When all the parts are mounted, flanges are screwed to the tops of the pipes and fixed to the top shelf.

The finished shelf can be made mobile if you install wheels on the bottom board.

The headset will be more stable if you attach it to the wall with special studs or install an L-shaped bracket.

Do-it-yourself kitchen shelf

Men will probably never understand why the housewives do not have enough shelves in the kitchen, but few will deny themselves the pleasure of surprising her with a simple but functional shelf in the kitchen with their own hands.

It is quite easy to make it. Need to make two boards, preferably from hard rock the same length. One of them will be installed horizontally for various utensils, and the other vertically. It will be fitted with wooden pegs on which you can hang cups, potholders and more. Board widths may vary slightly.

On a plate for cups mark out places for perches. It is better to apply the markings symmetrically, then the extreme ones will be at an equal distance from the edges of the plank.

Following the markup, drill holes corresponding to the diameter of the pole.

Using the conductor, this special device for drilling, you can make several holes to connect both planks. In extreme cases, you can also use a countersink, then the recesses under the heads of the screws will need to be hidden with plugs.

wooden pole polished sandpaper and sawn into equal parts.

The holes for the perches are lubricated from the inside with carpentry glue and inserted pegs. They should perform the same. Excess adhesive mass is wiped off with a napkin.

If the pegs are very tight, you can use hammer.

Glued to their end circles either plywood or wood. Do the same with excess glue.

The shelf is generally ready, it remains polish fine sandpaper and do appearance: handle wood stain and varnish or paint.

Two holes are drilled in the vertical board of the shelves, through which the shelf will be fixed to the wall with screws. The places for the heads of the screws are countersinked, and they themselves are closed with decorative plugs.

When installing shelves use a level.

Do-it-yourself plexiglass shelf

Such a shelf looks very light, without loading the interior with anything. Do-it-yourself transparent shelf is made from a strip plexiglass of a given size, which is installed on the original support of beads.

It is more convenient to cut it out of a sheet when buying immediately in a store.

Screws are selected on the basis that the diameter of its head must exceed the hole of the bead. If this is a problem, a washer can be used.

Beads before installation you need paint gold spray paint.

Paint the wooden beads with gold spray paint.

In the wall drilled pilot holes.

Six beads are put on the screw, screwed into the wall and leveled. The same is repeated with the second. For a concrete wall, dowels are used, in the case of a frame wall, the screws must enter the wooden racks.

A plexiglass plate is placed on the resulting supports.

The shelf thickness of 1.2 cm provides sufficient rigidity, but not so much as to lay out heavy objects on it.

Do-it-yourself hanging shelf on belts

To make such a design is extremely simple.

Need to prepare board convenient size and sand the surfaces of all edges with sandpaper.

If the texture of the wood is not expressive enough and you would like to hide it, you can paint.

From two identical belts buckles are removed from leather (textile), as well as all other metal parts.

At the ends of each of them drill holes small diameter.

The belts are folded in half so that a the loop. They are fixed on the wall, positioned from each other at a distance slightly less than the length of the plank.

The board is inserted into the hinges and leveled so that it is parallel to the floor.

If you want to fix the board more securely, you can additionally fix the belt with a few screws from the bottom side.

Shelf of construction pallets

Times change, tastes change. Today, many are trying to use industrial decor in their homes, replacing elegant pieces of furniture with deliberately rough ones. Individual elements can be made independently, for example, a do-it-yourself shelf from wooden construction pallets.

For one bookcase, you need to disassemble two pallets. The result is:

The following parts are sawn from this material and polished either with sandpaper or with a special nozzle on a drill:

Boards: Quantity - Dimensions (mm)

  • 4 - 640x145
  • 2 - 680x145
  • 2 - 840x145
  • 2 - 290x145
  • 2 - 640x100
  • 2 - 840x100
  • 2 - 290x50

Checkers: quantity - dimensions (mm)

The shelf is assembled in the following order:

For the base take two narrow boards 640x100 each and fasten along the edges of the checkers. Wide 290x145 are attached to the checkers perpendicular to the narrow boards, aligning them on equal sides.

To the end grounds two boards are fixed vertically with self-tapping screws: narrow (840x100) and wide (840x145). Repeat the same operation with the opposite end of the base.

Finishing up box future whatnot, fixing two wide boards (680x145) on top. To avoid cracking wood, you can use thin drill pre-drill holes in them.

Then two wide boards (640x145) are attached to the base. The bottom shelf is ready.

For the rest of the shelves you will need support bars. To do this, the narrowest boards (290x50) are attached at the desired height.

The remaining boards measuring 640x145 are attached to the installed planks. It is advisable to fix them with screws and from the ends. This will give the structure durability and greater reliability.

The resulting bookcase can be used as a rack for your favorite things, and as a shelf for shoes with your own hands.

DIY painting shelf

You won’t believe it, but you can make an unusual original wall shelf for your favorite picture yourself, and from a simple set that you can buy at any supermarket.

Creating this masterpiece will greatly simplify Dremel 300multi tool With large quantity high quality nozzles and milling machine Dremel 231. The point is this: in order for the picture to slide off the shelf, a groove must be made on its surface.

Boards are laid on milling table and turn upside down, mark the cut line for groove and with the help of guides on milling table set the desired depth for it.

Perform a groove.

Wooden wall shelf paint in desired color and let it dry.

Attached to her holders and strictly horizontally attached to the wall. Direction is controlled by building level.

Do-it-yourself children's shelf in the form of a horse

From several wooden boards, you can create a fun bookshelf where your little one will happily store their books.

Required for work sample pony horses. You can draw it yourself or with the help of special computer programs. The template is printed out and a stencil of the main details of the future pony shelf is cut out: legs, head and tail.

Stencils are placed on separate boards, outlined along the contour and cut out parts with the appropriate tool.

Straight cuts are recommended to be done with a saw, and curved cuts with a jigsaw.

clean up
surfaces of parts and edges with sandpaper.

The “legs” are attached to the “body” with furniture screws, then the head and tail are glued.

You can go over the product with sandpaper again.

"Horse" coloring.

In a few hours, the miracle shelf will be ready for use.

Shelf-shelf

Here are two bookcase ideas that you can easily make yourself.

First of edged board 40 mm is extremely simple. Bookcase assembled:

  • of two boards, beveled at the top by 30° to provide support;
  • shelves cut from a furniture board.

The height and width of the structure are arbitrary and are selected locally. If desired, the bookcase can be fixed in the upper part, and rubber heels can be stuffed along the bottom of the boards.

Second - S - shaped. For manufacturing, you can use trimming boards, plywood or chipboard. For one section of the structure, 16 rectangular blanks are needed, for example, 300x150 mm.

blanks set in a certain order, at each stage three.

The first workpiece is placed on the floor. A second one is attached to it at a right angle, joining them in width on the left. The third in width is joined with the first along its length, starting from the far right corner.

The fourth, fifth, sixth - are assembled symmetrically, exactly the opposite.

It is very simple to check how correctly the figure has developed: the second, third and fourth boards should form the letter S.

Experienced craftsmen advise first to assemble the design in rough on wooden pins and fit the blanks, and when disassembling, number the parts from the end.

Every detail then sanded sandpaper and begin to collect them, according to the numbering. PVA glue is applied to the joint lines and grooves and tightly clamped, holding in this state for some time.

The assembled bookcase is varnished or painted.

DIY shoe rack

The main problem for the hallway at all times is shoes. How to deal with the perpetrators of the riots, and do it as economically as possible? Optimal solution- make a shoe rack with your own hands.

Let's share some interesting ideas.

From plywood. More often they make a modular whatnot, which is attached to the wall and saves space. Using a jigsaw, plywood is cut into identical rectangular planks, then gently sanded. U-shaped structures are assembled from parts and “invested” one into the other, forming a structure resembling a labyrinth.

From tree. From wooden board cut blanks with a width of 250–350 mm and a thickness of about 20 mm. The next steps are:

sawed out side walls approximately 800–900 mm long.

Cut out four shelves of 600-700 mm.

All additional details are being prepared: crossbeams and support rails.

All blanks are polished.

The support bars are fixed to the side walls with self-tapping screws.

Shelves are laid on them.

Metal corners are attached to the rear end part.

The finished product can be varnished or painted.

From profile. A galvanized or regular profile plus tempered glass is all you need to build a do-it-yourself shoe rack in modern style high tech.

A section of the profile of the desired length is applied to the wall and fixed for the time being with one self-tapping screw.

Check the horizontal level of the profile line.

Screw in the rest of the screws.

Assemble the frame.

Install glass shelves.

From boxes. This is the most economical option do-it-yourself shoe racks, both in cost and size.

The contours of the parts are drawn on the cardboard of the box.

They are cut out using a special cardboard knife.

Then boxes are folded from rectangles, which are superimposed on each other. This is how the recesses for the shoes are formed.

Fasteners are made with staples.

The shelf is assembled on the wall, then glued with a decorative film.

Photo of unusual shelves on the wall

An interesting composition on the wall of the living room, in which several unusual racks are connected, made in the same style and color scheme, but different in configuration and size.

Varieties of materials

To arrange a comfortable functional shelf you can use a variety of materials. What are the pros and cons of each of them?

Let's talk about them.

Wooden book shelf. We make our own shelves

The tree is one of the most comfortable materials for processing.

Shelves from natural material can be:

  • corner,
  • vertical and horizontal,
  • closed and open
  • simple form and complex.

You can choose the basic option as a basis, construct a shelf from various modules and process according to own will. At your discretion, you can give it the most unusual look.

To provide the product with a longer service life, the material must be chosen correctly. The boards must be well dried, perfectly even, without mold, voids and.

For work you will need:

  • drill, ;
  • Ruler and pencil;
  • grinder;
  • hacksaw;
  • boards 16 mm;
  • dowels, screws, brackets.

For example, we can describe the process of the most common rectangular shelf 30 cm high, 25 cm wide and 110 cm long.

The process of making a wooden shelf:

  1. First you need to make markup.
    To do this, boards are placed flat on the table, they are transferred from a pre-made drawing required dimensions. Since the side walls will be between the bottom and top, their height will be 26.8 cm. Double the thickness of the board + the height of the wall = 30 centimeters.
  2. The next step is sawing the boards.
    If the markup is similar to the scheme, then you can proceed to it. The most convenient thing is to do it electric: when using it, the cuts will be smooth and neatly even.
  3. Processing of workpieces.
    According to our marks, we will get two short blanks, and two long ones. Before putting them into action, they must be processed. Each of them needs to be sanded, varnished and stained. If you plan to paint the shelf, then the blanks will have to be processed with a special one. It will increase the life of the product, in addition, the paint on it will lie much more evenly.
  4. Next, we move on to the assembly of the product.
    For any level horizontal surface Lay the bottom board flat. 8 mm retreat from the ends of the workpiece, a pair of parallel lines is drawn parallel to the cuts. On these lines, 5 cm from the edge, it is necessary to make (drill) two holes.
  5. The same is done with the upper part of the structure.
    Holes are needed for self-tapping screws: when all of them are made, sidewalls are placed on the bottom board and self-tapping screws are screwed in. Then another board is installed on top, and the side walls are fixed in the same way.
  6. Brackets are mounted on the ends of the latter.
    To hang the shelf on the wall, you need to make holes in the wall and screw the screws into them so that they protrude out about half a centimeter. In order for them to be located strictly in parallel, their locations are preliminarily marked by means of a level.
  7. The final steps remain.
    The brackets cling to the fasteners, and the shelf is hung. You can insert in front of the glass, and close the back wall with a piece cut to size.

Corner shelves for home

To save space, shelves are often made corner: they can be mounted as outside corner, as well as internally. Preparations are carried out according to the already given plan. The main difference is that the bottom and top boards consist of a pair of elements connected by ends cut at an angle.

It is not difficult to make such a design:

  1. the ends of the halves of the board (alternately, upper and lower) are well coated with glue, then we clamp them with clamps;
  2. after the glue has completely dried, the workpieces are primed or treated with a stain;
  3. fastening points are marked on both blanks and holes are made for them;
  4. put the sidewall in place and securely fix them with self-tapping screws;
  5. mount the brackets and attach the shelf to the joining walls.

Creative shelf options

Shelf with thick branches

An ordinary shelf can be made more original by replacing one of the sidewalls, for example, with a textured piece of a thick branch. For this, a flat branch of about 8 cm in diameter is suitable. It should have a flat and smooth bark without flaws.

The process of creating such a shelf will look like this:

  1. A suitable piece of 28 cm in size is sawn off from the branch, from which all side branches and processes are removed.
  2. The bark is left in place.
  3. The resulting workpiece is impregnated, dried well and applied to it.
  4. When it dries completely, the workpiece is firmly fixed with self-tapping screws instead of one of the side walls.

Based on the description of the manufacture of the shelf, it is possible to vary the different models and wall shelves.

You can shorten the product in length, but make several blocks instead of one. Then they are installed, for example, in a checkerboard pattern, fastened together with special metal plates. And you can hang them on the wall not as a single structure, but separately, at some distance from each other.

Furniture shelf for books

Such thematic products for books can be simple in shape and original. Non-standard products are in great demand, so you can try to assemble something like that.

Let's try to make a shelf in the form of a simplified labyrinth.

What is needed for this?

Have you stocked up on everything you need? So you can start

  1. We start, as always, with the markup.
    We draw markings on the boards, very carefully transferring the measurement lines. The length of all horizontal parts is different.
  2. We cut the ends of all blanks at a right angle or at 45 degrees.
    If we need the second option, then we will use a miter box for sawing. It must be correctly placed on the board so that the cuts made are symmetrical. If this is not achieved, then it will not be possible to fold the shelf evenly.
  3. We proceed to the assembly of the structure.
    We coat the ends of the blanks with glue, connect and fix tightly special screws. Simple self-tapping screws are not suitable for this. For each piece, you need from two such screws, no less. We need to attach parts of the shelf to, align with a level, mark the points of future attachment.
  4. We make holes.
    Then it is necessary to make holes for the dowels (with a drill), fasten the brackets to the shelf with self-tapping screws and place the structure on the wall. Brackets can be replaced with "pelicans" - special decorative shelf supports.

DIY shelves photo

To rationally plan the interior, it is worth using the corners and, thus, freeing up the walls for cabinets and shelving. This requires a corner shelf, which can be made independently from existing materials. The article will cover the main recommendations on how to make corner shelf, as well as the main examples of structures.

Place corner shelves in different rooms

You can install a corner shelf in every room, but in most cases it is great for a kitchen or bathroom. Any housewife will quickly place on it a variety of jars of spices, cereals and other kitchen utensils, and in the bathroom, such a shelf near the mirror will allow you to accommodate all hygiene products and free up the necessary drawers. It should be noted that these premises have enough high level humidity, which means that the tree will need to be additionally treated with antiseptics and applied at least two layers of paint. The best option will become plastic or glass, as they have more advantages:

  • resistant to moisture and temperature changes;
  • mold and fungi do not appear on surfaces;
  • withstand a lot of weight;
  • easy to clean;
  • A variety of colors will allow the design to fit into any interior.

Also, corner shelves on the wall are rational option which is suitable for bedrooms, nurseries and living rooms. Any other furniture can be placed under the shelf, for example:

  • nightstand;
  • computer desk;
  • armchair.

Regardless of what material was used, the design will look spectacular and presentable. All sorts of little things will be conveniently placed on the corner shelf: books, photographs, dishes, candles, toys and much more.

Note! To add more effect to the corner shelf, you can lead the LED backlight to it. With this method, designers give the wall depth.

Necessary materials and tools

Before embarking on planning and manufacturing, it is worth collecting the available materials and calculating: will they be enough? You can make your own corner shelf from the most variety of materials, such as:

  • wooden boards;
  • plywood;
  • glass;
  • plastic;
  • window profiles;
  • iron and others.

The first 4 options are considered the most common and practical. Everyone will cope with them, besides, a special tool is not required, as is the case with glass or iron. The set of tools in each case will be varied, but if we talk about lumber, then it is worth preparing in advance:

  • hacksaw;
  • jigsaw (manual or electric);
  • saw;
  • stationery knife;
  • drill;
  • sandpaper;
  • glue and fasteners;
  • ruler;
  • pencil;
  • paints and varnishes (paint or varnish);
  • brushes.
Note! For comparison, when making a glass corner shelf, you will need fewer tools: fasteners (screws and dowels), a level, a drill, a felt-tip pen and a ruler.

Step-by-step instruction

  1. In the role of the main material, an ordinary board, which remains from the repair, is suitable. The width should be selected individually, based on the items that will be placed on it and the place where it will be installed.
  2. In addition, for fastening you will need glue with a dispenser and screws (3.0 × 25 mm). As a decor, you can use semicircular slats.
  3. We apply markings on the board at an angle of 45 ° of the required length and, using a hacksaw, cut it at an angle of 45 °. As a result, we get 4 shelves.
  4. From the remnants of the board, you need to cut racks of the same size (for example, 5 × 20 cm) in the amount of 6 pieces.
  5. All elements should be cleaned with sandpaper to perfect smoothness.
  6. Let's start building the structure. To each shelf, except for the top one, it is necessary to fix two racks. The markings are applied in the middle, then the elements are fastened with screws. To strengthen the fasteners, use PVA glue.
  7. For ease of fastening, the racks of the middle shelf are placed at the edges.
  8. The remaining parts of the corner shelf are assembled in the same way.
  9. If desired, and if you have free time, you can decorate the shelves using semicircular slats. So, with their help, you can make low handrails so that small or round accessories do not fall out. On the finishing stage the shelf is painted.
Note! After the first element has been cut out, it is necessary to attach it to the wall and check the correctness of the calculations. To prevent the board from bursting when fastening, a hole for self-tapping screws is drilled a little smaller than the screws.

Corner glass shelf

To make a small and simple design, it does not take much time and special skills, even if we are talking about a glass shelf. So to be precise and make a design correct sizes measurements need to be made. After that, a diagram is drawn on paper indicating all the parameters obtained.

Glass cutting can be done independently, if there is no tool, then go to a special workshop. Here the masters will be able to cut out the necessary shape in a few minutes. Holders can be:

  • metal rods;
  • aluminum profile;
  • wooden frame.

AT ideal it is worth buying special holders, to which self-tapping screws and dowels for fastening will be included. Holders are fixed on the wall and glasses are put on alternately. Using the building level, evenness is checked. As a result, the cost of the shelf will be lower than the cost of a new one from the store.

Note! For convenience, experts recommend creating a template for a future cardboard shelf. This will avoid inaccuracies.

Only with exact observance of the data obtained after measurements, it is possible to produce a high-quality and reliable product, in particular, a corner shelf. It is very important to measure between the walls, as this angle is not always equal to 90°. As a basis, you can take a variety of materials that gather dust in a barn or garage.
