Do-it-yourself metal barbecues: sizes, photos and ideas of different models. We cook the brazier with our own hands How to cook the brazier with our own hands

In this article, we will look at options for how to build barbecues with your own hands from metal: dimensions, photos and drawings, as well as step-by-step instructions are attached! Let's talk about the advantages of such structures, as well as the properties of the steel from which they are made. The following are the four master classes in detail.

  • First of all, we will tell you how to make a brazier from a gas cylinder: a photo instruction with explanations will not let you make mistakes during installation. We will use a standard cylinder of 50 liters.;
  • The second chapter contains instructions for installing a barbecue from a 200l metal barrel;
  • Next, we will discuss standard design portable type from heat-resistant steel 5mm. A drawing of a metal brazier with dimensions is also attached, we specially made it for this master class.
  • In conclusion, we will tell you how to build a portable camping sheet brazier from 3mm steel.
You will learn how to make metal

Advantages of metal grills

The metal brazier has a number of advantages. Their main ones include:

  • strength and reliability;
  • low cost. The cost of creating such a design is much lower than products on sale;
  • mobility - it is simple and easy to install, and also transferred around the site.
  • freedom of creativity. Since you make this product yourself, you can decorate it the way you want;
  • durability. Such a brazier will serve you for more than a dozen years with proper operation and strengthening of the bottom of the structure;

Braziers of different heights

But, this design It also has several significant disadvantages:

  • material will rust over time. Especially under the influence of adverse environmental factors, such as moisture. However, if you choose the wrong metal for manufacturing, the walls will rather lead to the structure;
  • the process of preparing a barbecue or other dish in a metal barbecue is inferior to that which takes place in brick construction, since this material retains heat worse;
  • you must have the skills to work with a welding machine to make a brazier with your own hands from metal. Drawings, photos and dimensions from the team of our site will help with this;
  • barbecues assembled from gas cylinders are quite heavy, so it is not always convenient to move them around the site. For more comfortable movement, such designs are made on wheels.

To make a project on your own, you need to understand at least superficially the grades of heat-resistant steel. More on this later.

From a barrel on legs

Characteristics of heat resistant steel

In this block, we suggest that you familiarize yourself with the characteristics of heat-resistant steel. It is from it that we propose to make a brazier (the third master class), because. structural integrity and resistance to deformation over time - this is the main task. The second point is to make sure that the steel rusts for as long as possible.

As suitable metals we propose to consider the characteristics of 2 grades of heat-resistant steel: 09g2s, 15khsnd (nl-2). In addition to their heat-resistant qualities, they have several advantages:

  • long rust;
  • in stores you can buy a thickness of 2mm, 3mm, 4mm, 6mm. In general, this thickness is enough to implement the project (15KhSND (NL-2) only 6mm and more). A metal thickness of 6mm is suitable if you want to make a solid stationary brazier (it is heavy);
  • great for cutting and cutting.

09G2S - decoding and properties of steel

09GS2 - low-alloy structural steel with increased endurance limit. This brand is widely used for cooking steel structures, including suitable for barbecues. Use this steel grade if you want to make a portable one.

On sale you can find sheets with a thickness of 2 mm, which is ideal for portable barbecues and barbecues. However, nothing prevents you from making a stationary barbecue from the 09G2S steel grade. For a more detailed acquaintance with the properties during heating, we suggest studying the table below.

The decoding of steel 09G2S is carried out as follows:

  1. 09-0.9% carbon content;
  2. G- Contains manganese;
  3. 2 - manganese 2%;
  4. C - silicon, less than 1%.

15HSND (NL-2) - decoding and properties of steel

Steel 15KhSND (nl-2) has excellent physical properties when exposed to high temperatures and is resistant to overheating. This quality allows it to be used when cooking thick-walled structures, including barbecues.

Such steel is more suitable for stationary structures than for portable ones, due to its thickness - at least 6mm. How 15HSND (NL-2) behaves at elevated temperatures can be seen in the table

15HSND is deciphered as follows:

  1. 15 - 0.15% carbon
  2. X - Chrome 0.6-0.9%
  3. C - Silicon 0.4-0.7%
  4. N - Nickel 0.3-0.6%
  5. D - Copper 0.2-0.4%

If you have not yet decided which of these steel grades should be purchased for the manufacture of a metal barbecue, rely on the price in your city and the availability of steel on sale.

Carry out preparatory work

Before proceeding to the main stage of work, it is necessary to properly prepare.

  1. Decide on the type of installation. Will the structure be stationary or portable? Basically, metal barbecues can be easily transported and installed anywhere;
  2. Decide where you will install the structure. At the same time, it does not matter whether it will be a portable or stationary installation, in any case, the heat from it can harm your vegetation, trees, or other elements on the site.
  3. Dimensions, photos of the brazier with their own hands made of metal are well known. Basically, they are within the following limits: width - from 50 to 120 cm, and depth - from 15 to 20 cm.

These barbecue sizes are optimal. They allow you to place a grill, several skewers and coals inside. At the same time, the latter do not touch the product that is being prepared.

How to make a brazier from a gas cylinder: photo instruction!

At the heart of this design is gas cylinder volume of 50 liters. Its length reaches 96 cm, which makes it easy to place 9 skewers in it. If you want to learn how to make a barbecue from a propane tank with your own hands, follow these steps:

  1. prepare the necessary tools and materials;
  2. design the look of your future barbecue;
  3. prepare the balloon for cutting;
  4. cut the balloon;
  5. install the cover;
  6. make a stand;
  7. make holes for skewers, as well as ventilation;
  8. paint.

How to make a brazier from a gas cylinder: do-it-yourself photo instruction

Tools and materials

To make a barbecue from a gas cylinder, we need tools and materials:

Instruments:

Materials:

  • old propane tank;
  • pen with wooden insert;
  • rivets;
  • professional pipe;
  • corner;
  • band.

Drawing, project, scheme

Now you need to prepare do-it-yourself brazier drawings from metal in the photo. Take a ruler and chalk and measure the cutting lines on the balloon according to the given dimensions. The dimensions of the brazier from a gas cylinder with your own hands in this project should be as follows:

  • The length of the gas cylinder is 960 mm.
  • The standard height (and in our case both height and width) of the gas cylinder from which we make the project is 290 mm. We cut the lid exactly in the middle - 145 mm.
  • cut length - 884 mm;
  • the number of holes for the skewer - 9 pieces of 5x11 mm;
  • handle dimensions - 260 mm;

All other data are shown in the drawing.

Legend:

And two more tips:

  • Leg height. The average height of a man is 175 cm, women - 162 cm. Consider this when setting the height at which the brazier from the propane cylinder will be located. We recommend using a leg height of 80 cm.
  • steel thickness. As mentioned earlier in the article in the paragraph “Characteristics of heat-resistant steel”, it is advisable to use from 2 to 6 mm, depending on the purpose and type of steel.

Preparing a cylinder for a barbecue (we pump out gas)

First we need to prepare the balloon itself for cutting. Usually there are gas residues in old cylinders that need to be removed. For this you need:

  1. Open the valve and put the bottle on the side. if it comes out of gas, wait until it comes out completely.
  2. Unscrew the top shot of the faucet with two gas wrenches. After that, some more gas should come out of the cylinder.
  3. We bring a hose with water to the cylinder and open the water. We wait until it is completely filled.

Step-by-step instructions on how to make a brazier from a propane tank

After the cylinder is completely filled with water, you can start cutting metal:

  1. We install a cover for a barbecue from a propane cylinder. To do this, we completely cut it along the previously outlined lines (as in the drawing).
  2. We drill holes in the lid and the cylinder with a drill, after which we fasten it with the help of corners and then with rivets.
  3. We weld the handle with a wooden insert so as not to get burned
  4. We make a stand. To do this, we take 4 parts of the professional pipe, each with a size of 15x15x800. Also a corner of 850 mm, 1750 mm strips, and two more parts of the pipe 15x15x280. Next, we bend two parts of the strip of 450 mm each to fit the shape of the balloon, cook. We weld two pieces of a professional pipe 280 mm from the bottom to our frame for stability. We connect the professional pipe with a corner of 850 mm from above and the remains of a strip measuring 850 mm from below. Do-it-yourself stand for a barbecue from a gas cylinder, as in the photo, is ready.
  5. Make holes with a 8.5 mm drill in the base of the cylinder - for ventilation.
  6. Make holes for the skewers. FROM front side 5x11 mm, this best option. FROM back side make with a 11 mm drill.
  7. For more convenient movement and operation, weld handles on both sides. We would also advise welding a shelf on the right side.

We improve and strengthen

As for improvements - here you are free to do whatever you want, do not be afraid to experiment. Can add small table in front of the barbecue from a propane cylinder, make another one next to it small barbecue and turn the whole structure into a wonderful smokehouse.

Brazier smokehouse from a gas cylinder

Another “upgrade” of your brazier can be to strengthen the place on which it is placed. To do this, we recommend that you read our other article on this topic.

You can also make such barbecues with a metal roof - photos will be presented at the end of the article.

Examples of barbecue from a gas cylinder

We hope you read this article for construction homemade barbecue from a propane tank, you have discovered a lot of new and useful things. We wish you good luck with your build!

And as usual, finally, we attach you a photo gallery of examples of barbecue from cylinders from professional gardeners.

We build a brazier from a barrel with our own hands

To build a brazier from a barrel with your own hands, you must first familiarize yourself with its dimensions and characteristics.

Barbecue metal barrel 882 mm long, 595 mm in diameter. As a rule, such 200 liter barrels have the following characteristics:

Now let's move on to the construction of the grill. In this case, a drawing of a brazier made of metal with dimensions is not needed, since there is nothing complicated in the installation of such a design. The technology is the same as in the case of construction.
We take a metal barrel and make markings using a long ruler or board, as shown in the photo.

With a 6 mm drill we make 4 holes on each side. Please note that you must have bolts with the same diameter. Later we will attach the hinges for the lid here. The dimensions between the holes depend on which hinges you are using. Measure the distance directly on the spot.

We cut with a grinder with small teeth along the already marked line.

The lid will take up about a quarter of the entire circumference homemade barbecue from a barrel.

Having cut the lid on all sides, we take it out of the barrel.

Let's use grinder on metal to align the metal at the cut points.

The next step is to insert the screws with nuts into the loops in the pre-prepared holes so that the lid can open and close. The fixation is shown in the photo.

Now it's time to make metal legs for the barbecue with your own hands. We take an old iron corner and outline two segments of 170 cm each - these will be our legs, which we can attach to the barrel without using a welding machine.

As a result, we get a leg 85 cm long - quite comfortable for an average human height (keep in mind that the legs are not perpendicular to the ground at 90 degrees). When making such barbecues with your own hands from metal, the dimensions in the photo will help a lot.

To attach the legs to the barrel, we lay it as shown in the photo and drill 3 holes with an 8 mm drill. One on top and two on the sides of the barbecue. Don't forget you must have 8mm bolts.

We insert a screw with a nut and washer into the hole, thus fixing the resulting leg. In the remaining holes we twist on the screw and wind on the nut.

To make a handle, we take a small bar, we drive two self-tapping screws into it from both ends. We also drill two holes in the lid. Next, the handle with self-tapping screws is attached to the barrel lid with screws and washers. Dimensions can be done by eye. If you can’t by eye, take 170 mm distance between the holes. Now it remains only to make a grid, and a do-it-yourself barbecue grill from a barrel with your own hands will be ready!

Bon Appetit!

We suggest you look at other options for a photo of a barbecue grill from a barrel.

Making a brazier from heat-resistant steel

It's time to consider the third version of the brazier made of metal with your own hands. This time we use a sheet of steel 5 mm - 0.6 sq.m., a corner of 50 - 270 cm, a professional pipe 15x15 - 3 meters, bolts 4 pieces M8x50, 8 nuts M8 and 8 washers D-8.

The first step is to make a drawing of the brazier. The design parameters will be:

  • width 600 mm;
  • length 300 mm;
  • height 200 mm;
  • total height with legs 800 mm;
  • the distance between the slots for skewers is 60 mm.
  • all other data you can see in the diagram below.

Dimensional drawing

We combine the side plates of a simple metal barbecue and make tacks using a welding machine.

The next step will be to markup for future ventilation holes. We will drill in three iterations - 5 mm, 8 mm and 12 mm, gradually increasing the diameter of the cut.

We mark the slots for skewers and then cut them out with a grinder. The distance between the slots in our case is 60 mm. Let's make 9 cuts with a depth of 8 mm.

We collect the walls for tacks.

We weld the arms and legs. We use a pre-prepared professional pipe 15x15 and corners.

Full height 80 cm.

This is the end of the job! We offer you to watch the video of the brazier with your own hands.

The simplest collapsible brazier made of metal

The simplest brazier can fit in an ordinary umbrella case, for example! Well, if you do not want to transfer the umbrella cover, then sew a new one.

The dimensions of a simple collapsible portable barbecue are as follows:

  • crossbar length 500 mm;
  • leg length 450 mm;
  • crossbar width - 30 mm;
  • leg width - 10 mm;
  • steel thickness - 3 mm;

To make a collapsible brazier with your own hands from metal, follow the instructions.

The brazier is driven into the ground with a hammer next to the fire
You can cool it in water, or just wait.

Conveniently folds into a single design

The size is very attractive to take with you on a hike, fishing or just to nature.

How to paint a brazier and protect it from corrosion

And now let's answer the question of how to paint a metal grill. It is necessary to paint the unit after completion of all work, preferably with acrylic paint in a can (requires protection in the form of gloves, a respirator and overalls) or heat-resistant varnishes KO/08, KO/815. This stage is the final one. It solves several problems:

  1. The design is given a complete look - it is pleasant to use a beautiful outwardly brazier than a peeled one.
  2. Heat-resistant paint for metal for barbecue will protect the structure. As a result, the corrosion process will slow down.
  3. Since paint creates smooth surface, then the process of cleaning a homemade brazier made of metal from soot after operation is simplified.

Braziers with a metal roof: photos and benefits

Using one of the step-by-step instructions and having built a metal brazier for a summer residence, you need to think about the roof for it. The roof will perform several important functions:

  1. Protecting a metal barbecue from any external influences, which in turn will not lead to rapid rusting.
  2. The ability to use the unit in any weather - sunny and inclement.
  3. Having built a lantern on the roof, it will be convenient for you to fry meat in the dark - nothing will burn!
  4. The structure with a roof has a much more solid appearance than just a free-standing structure.

There are several types of canopy for the barbecue, we list: We can distinguish several types of coverage, constructing barbecues with a metal roof. Photos will be presented below.

  • Metal gazebo with a barbecue, made of brick or other material;
  • polycarbonate canopy;
  • Roof welded to the frame (you can also add a countertop, sink, etc.).

We suggest you look at the braziers with a metal roof: a photo of several options below. And if you want to do it yourself, then read the article about self-assembly a canopy made of professional pipe and polycarbonate, this knowledge will help you make a roof for the barbecue.

In this article, we looked at how to make a metal brazier in four ways:

  • using a 50l gas cylinder;
  • from a metal barrel 200l;
  • from heat-resistant steel 5mm;
  • from sheet 3mm steel.

We hope our master classes were useful, and you can easily make a metal barbecue with your own hands!

Country rest in the country or by the river under a charming smoky aroma fresh meat or freshly caught fish roasted on convenient grill, is very popular among the people. Without exaggeration, we can state that even its own original subculture and traditions have developed around this way of spending time.

Of course, all the appetizing charm of a barbecue is impossible without fire and a traditional metal fryer. And while new meetings with friends are only planned, it’s worth learning better how to cook a brazier with your own hands. Otherwise, if you do it wrong, you can spoil the whole holiday of a pleasant feast.

But first, you should clarify for yourself a number of clear rules, thanks to which you can ensure high quality work, and the very task of welding the brazier will not seem too difficult.

Do-it-yourself barbecue: some general rules

The huge popularity of barbecue feasts and the long history of this type of culinary art made it not only universal way recreation, but also the object of real creativity. Over the years, a metal barbecue has become much more complicated, in its equipment, initially as simple and functional as possible, many very useful “options” have appeared - all kinds of fireboxes for heating meat and fish, cavities for drying firewood, shelves for spices, etc.

However, all this is just a pleasant addition to the main thing. The main thing in this device is its design, based on generally accepted principles, time-tested. Some of them need to get to know each other better.

When planning to make a brazier with their own hands, the customer will have to decide on the answer to two main questions - how many people the brazier will have to feed and how long the future owner of the metal brazier expects.

The dimensions of the device being made depend on how many participants in the feast will prepare a dish with smoke. Usually, a brazier measuring 60x30 cm is enough for an average family of 3-4 people. The indicated width, which seems to be a universal value for braziers in the most different designs, is determined by the fact that, as a rule, up to about 8 pieces of meat are placed on one skewer.

But its length can be very different. If, for example, it is assumed that rather large groups will regularly gather at the table to taste barbecue, then in this case it will be necessary to calculate the dimensions individually, taking into account the possible load.

In particular, it is necessary to calculate the total number of skewers that will be involved in cooking fried meat, and mark the sheet of metal in such a way that there is a distance of 10 cm between adjacent skewers. In this case, the walls of the brazier should recede from the extreme skewers by at least 5 cm. metal blank one meter long.

As for the depth of the barbecue, experienced craftsmen recommend making it about 150 mm. This value makes it possible to establish the optimal clearance between skewers with meat and hot coals.

To determine the same comfortable height the whole structure, you can take a skewer and bend your arm at the elbow at a right angle. The level of the bent elbow will become the level at which it will be convenient to place a row of skewers. From this it is necessary to build on when calculating the height of the legs.

The second most important factor - the service life - directly depends on the material from which the brazier is made.

The rule here is simple - the thicker the metal, the longer it will last. But in any case, you should not take sheets thinner than 1 mm for processing.

Materials and tools necessary for welding the brazier

To make a high-quality brazier from metal, you will need the following tools and materials:

  • metal sheet (steel, cast iron) of sufficient size;
  • metal corners (for legs);
  • welding machine;
  • a set of electrodes;
  • electric drill;
  • drills of various diameters;
  • grinder with discs for cutting metal;
  • jigsaw;
  • measuring and marking devices (ruler, square, measuring tape).

With their help, you can safely engage in the manufacture of one of the two most popular types of braziers - a traditional brazier or a brazier from a barrel.

Do-it-yourself brazier from a solid metal sheet

A summer device for frying meat or fish can be both stationary and portable (collapsible). But welding is used, as a rule, when it is required to assemble stationary version. Otherwise, the connection separate parts the brazier with each other is made by means of special joints or bolts (screws).

Start creating welded brazier necessary from cutting the metal sheet in accordance with the original drawing. As a result, 5 rectangular fragments should come out - the bottom, 2 short and 2 long sidewalls.

Further, be sure to drill several holes in a row in the lower part of the long sidewalls. In the future barbecue, they will provide air flow to hot coals, without which it is impossible to maintain a good heat. It is recommended to drill holes so that there is a distance of about 50 mm between them. In this case, the extreme holes must be marked at a distance of 20 mm from the edge of the sidewall.

The side parts of the non-separable brazier are attached by electric welding.

The next step is to make small incisions on the upper edges of the long sidewalls with a hacksaw or a grinder. They are recommended to be done simultaneously on both parts, attaching the sidewalls to each other. In this way, you can easily achieve complete alignment of the incisions, which will later serve as grooves for fixing the skewers during frying products.

After all these preparatory operations, the previously cut elements are welded. All sidewalls - the width and length of the barbecue - are welded to each other and to the bottom. Legs from the corners are welded to the finished box, and this can be done in one of two ways - by welding them along the corners of the box or at the end of the bottom of the barbecue. By the way, it is advisable to pre-cut the lower parts of the legs in such a way that they turn out to be pointed - this way, they will more easily enter the ground, ensuring excellent stability of the entire structure.

There is another option for welding a non-separable brazier, which, nevertheless, will be somewhat more “mobile” in comparison with that described above. In it, instead of corners, they use metal bars. A thread is cut at their ends, and 4 identical nuts are welded to the bottom of the brazier. The legs of the rods are screwed into the nuts. Thanks to this installation, it becomes possible to disconnect the legs from the brazier and transport the barbecue in the trunk of a car.

How to make a brazier with your own hands from a barrel?

The brazier can be made more massive. For example, from a metal barrel (of course, in which no substances harmful to human health or fuels and lubricants were previously stored). With this option, the brazier gets a tight-fitting lid, which provides faster and more even roasting of meat or fish.

But before working directly with the barrel, you should make a frame that will serve as the base-saddle for the barbecue of such an unusual shape. It is made from corners welded to each other with a shelf width of at least 45 mm. The size of the rectangular frame should be equal to or slightly smaller than the size of the drum so that the drum can be securely fixed in the frame. 4 legs of equal length are welded to the corners of the frame.

Then a segment of arbitrary size and shape is cut out of the barrel with an electric jigsaw. The future lid of the structure may, for example, be a whole half of the entire barrel, but it can also be cut out from the side of the container. The remaining sections are cleaned with sandpaper.

In order to be able to open the lid, the main part of the barrel and its lid are connected by welding with door hinges. A metal handle is also attached to the lid. In addition, skewers holders must be welded inside the barrel. They can serve as all the same corners.

When making a large stationary barbecue from a barrel, you need to pay attention to one important nuance. Available in the tank factory drainer subsequently will play the role of a small pipe for the hood. Therefore, when correct installation frying chamber, it should be in the upper back of the barbecue (lid).

For the convenience of moving the brazier-barrel around the yard or summer cottage small wheels can be welded to its legs, and a special handle can be welded to the frame. On the final stage all finished structure it is recommended to paint with heat-resistant paint.

Thus, to make a high-quality brazier with your own hands, it is enough to have skillful hands, good tool, a carefully designed scheme and a great desire to make your outdoor recreation pleasant and useful, filled with friendly communication and the aroma of mouth-watering fried delicacies.

The presence of a stationary hearth on the site or a mobile one at a country picnic dramatically improves the quality of recreation with family or big company. Since do-it-yourself braziers made of metal have different sizes, photos of various modifications in this manual will help you choose the best option for specific operating conditions.

The main operational features of the hearths for cooking hot dishes on hastily are:

  • occasional use, prolonged inactivity;
  • location in the open air or in the gazebo;
  • the high temperature of the coals on which food is cooked.

The best option for country house is a full brick barbecue oven. However, it takes up a lot of space, weighs more than 700 kg, requires slab foundation and drastically increases the construction budget.

The original metal brazier, the photo of which is given above, is not inferior to the quality of the design of a brick barbecue oven. They are classified according to:

  • mobility - portable (folding), mobile (only within the site) and stationary;
  • dimensions - large for large companies and small for families;
  • shape - pipe, barrel, rectangle, architectural modifications;
  • additions - a canopy, a chimney, a compartment for a fire.

It is important for the user to understand that during the burning of firewood, increased metal wear occurs. Therefore, it is better to cook coals in a fire or buy them ready-made, and keep the heat inside the brazier without an open fire. Then the equipment will last longer.

Standard sizes

To weld a brazier with your own hands from metal, you must have the appropriate equipment and the skill to work with it. The home master should take into account the following nuances:

  • a skewer 25 cm long is considered standard, so that a portion of 6 pieces of medium-sized meat can be strung on it, therefore, the optimal width of the brazier is 30 cm;
  • for a family, a structure length of 70–100 cm is recommended; if the hearth is planned to be used for frequent reception of friends and relatives, this size is increased due to a special compartment for coals; there should be a distance of 8–10 cm between the skewers;
  • the depth of the steel box should provide a distance of 30 cm from the coals to the skewers, in this case the meat does not burn, and the coals do not flare up from drops of fat;
  • the upper side of the barbecue, on which the skewers are laid, should be at a distance of 50 - 70 cm from the ground, taking into account the height of the cook for collapsible types and 80 - 120 cm for stationary modifications.

Look at the options on the drawings:

Zoom on click

Attention: In view of the foregoing, the design of barbecues from horizontally located 100 - 200 l barrels should be supplemented with a steel perforated sheet - a hearth. Otherwise, the thickness of the coals will be uneven, the meat in the middle part of the skewers may burn.

What are there?

Before you weld a brazier for a stationary installation, you should familiarize yourself with the original homemade crafts of home craftsmen. Dramatically improves the quality of service hearth chimney. However, it takes more sheet metal, when placed inside the gazebo, you will have to make a node for passing through the roof, break through the roof.

Free-standing metal barbecues are weather-dependent, so they are usually equipped with canopies made of galvanized steel, corrugated board, metal tiles. So that in the case of short rainfall, the meat can be roasted without problems.

On the large plots with seating areas, solid-sized barbecues, ponds and other elements landscape design mobile barbecues on wheels are being built. This facilitates table setting, allows you to move the smoky hearth away from the guests' resting place.

For country rest, small collapsible or transformable foci are often built. They have small size for placement in the trunk of a car, a simple rectangular shape without decorative frills.

What are they made from?

Taking into account all the above nuances, the design of the brazier can consist of sheet metal blanks, forged elements, or it partially uses finished steel products of a suitable shape / size:

  1. metal barrels;
  2. sewing machines;
  3. cut steel pipe large diameter;
  4. forged and cast shelves, countertops;
  5. propane tanks;
  6. washing machine tanks.

In any case, they will have to be finalized in order to link them with the standard dimensions of the hearth and fit into the existing landscape design.

Self-manufacturing of a stationary brazier made of metal

The most popular are two technologies on how to make a brazier out of metal with your own hands of a stationary type:

  1. from a barrel: the design is almost ready, you need to weld the legs, cut the workpiece and add internal elements;
  2. classic rectangular: you will need a sketch or drawing in a graphic editor for marking and cutting blanks, more electrodes and metal are consumed.

By default, a barrel product has a ready-made lid, which allows you to protect the steel structure from snow in winter and rain in summer. For the convenience of the home master, both options will be discussed below.

From the barrel with step by step instructions

Before you build a brazier from a stationary type metal barrel, you need to mark and cut it in the following order:

  • lid: is the barrel either cut in half along with both bottoms, or is a hatch cut out in it? circumference, the bottoms remain intact, they must be retreated by at least 2 cm to ensure the rigidity of the structure;
  • under: steel rectangular sheet for coals with drilled holes through which the ash will fall down to ensure periodic excavation of the ash, will be attached to the removable;
  • supporting elements: they are made from a corner, skewers will lie on them, therefore, vertical slots are created in one shelf of the corner, the length of these elements is slightly less than the height of the barrel.

The under should be located 20 - 30 cm below the skewers, according to standard sizes metal brazier. For ease of removal / laying in place, bracket handles are welded to the plate.

The supporting elements are welded in a single horizontal level, one near the cut-out hole-hatch, the second at the far wall opposite it. Instead of a corner, you can use profile pipe rectangular section.

To fix a round barrel in space and provide a convenient height for cooking kebabs of a metal barbecue, it is necessary to make a stand. There are several options, the most common of which are:

Then it remains only to weld the hinges to open the lid, clean inner surface from the product that was stored in this container, remove the standard layer of coatings ( paintwork materials) on the outside and paint the case with a special heat-resistant paint that can withstand extreme operating temperatures.

Classic with drawing and video

Step-by-step instructions on how to properly weld a classic-type barbecue are as follows:

A couple of drawings for example:

Well, a couple of photos for example:

The metal container must be airtight, so the seams must be continuous. If the barbecue is planned to be moved around the site, one pair of legs is made shorter and equipped with wheels. How to weld it correctly and what sizes to take, see the following video:

Well, and more step by step video instruction how well you can do without welding:

For more comfortable operation of the hearth, it is recommended to equip it with a shelf for storing firewood (attached to the legs at half their height), a lid (removable or hinged) and a canopy. Racks for a canopy are usually welded to the legs of the barbecue or to its body.

You can (and should) decorate the hearth with forged elements, overlays in the form of animal figures made of sheet steel. The aesthetic value of such a design depends entirely on the imagination of the home master or the creativity of the designer who developed the project. For example, interesting idea I use sewing machine legs.

tank mods washing machine or a vertically located pipe of large diameter for a classic iron barbecue are unsuitable. They can fit a maximum of 3 skewers of standard length, so these foci are used for another cooking technology - barbecue. In principle, any brazier can be supplemented with a stainless steel wire grill and get a barbecue.

Making a portable barbecue

For suburban picnics, a stationary hearth is unsuitable, therefore, a collapsible or transformable one is being built metal grill with your own hands from sheet steel. The main nuances of the mobile hearth are:

  • the height and width of the bottom and side walls, all dimensions of the end walls remain unchanged;
  • the legs are made removable (less often they are hinged), the length depends on the size of the trunk of the car;
  • on the side and end walls, shelves are bent from below, on which the bottom is laid after assembly;
  • the walls are connected by slots oppositely directed relative to each other or are also hinged into the working/transport position.

Read more about the manufacture of this type of barbecue.

Thus, knowing the dimensions for cooking barbecue, the approximate number of users, you can make a mobile iron brazier. For the construction of a stationary one, additional welding equipment will be required (although you can do without it), but all the necessary information is above.

It is difficult to find someone who does not like grilled meat and vegetables. That is why the brazier occupies a leading position among other attributes necessary for outdoor recreation. Modern devices have a variety of designs: they can be either portable metal or stationary made of brick or metal, with a canopy, lid, etc. It all depends on the desire and imagination of the owner. And it is not at all necessary to buy a brazier, because you can make a metal grill with your own hands.

The advantages of a metal grill

The simplest, but at the same time very practical model brazier

The pros and cons of metal barbecues vary depending on which models to consider:

  • thin-walled they are mobile, compact and affordable. They are made by stamping parts from the thinnest sheets of metal, which has a beneficial effect on their weight. Most often produce folding versions. However, they are often used not only as a container for coals from a separate fire, but also for lighting and kindling the latter. Therefore, the life of such a brazier can be significantly reduced. The walls quickly burn out, deform and become unusable. In addition, they do not retain heat well, which leads to an unreasonably high consumption of coal;
  • thick-walled durable and roomy. Such braziers can serve for years. True, they are not so portable, as they are made of thick sheets of metal, and therefore have a rather large weight.

Varieties

Before proceeding with the manufacture of the brazier, it is necessary to determine its type.

Portable (folding/collapsible)

Compact collapsible brazier can be taken with you even on a hike

Portable braziers are easy to assemble, have a simple and compact design, designed for outdoor picnics. They are of two types: folding and collapsible.

  1. In a portable collapsible brazier, the elements are connected during the assembly process using bolts, pins and other connecting elements. Such models are mobile and compact, but they have one drawback - poor reliability. Making such a brazier with your own hands is quite difficult.
  2. In a portable folding barbecue, the elements do not completely separate, but move or fold. The main disadvantage is the short service life. IN best case enough for one or two seasons.
  3. Currently, such a model as a disposable brazier, which is designed for one use, is very popular. Its definite advantage is low price and light weight.

Stationary

A metal grill with a roof allows you to cook in almost any weather

The stationary brazier has a large number of manufacturing options. Such models can be with or without a roof. The first are self-sufficient. The roof will protect not only the cook, but also the firebox itself from direct sun rays, snow or rain, which will extend the service life. The latter are usually installed where there is already a canopy.

With a smokehouse

In such a grill, you can not only fry, but also smoke meat or fish

A brazier with a smokehouse can be used not only for frying meat or fish, but also for smoking them. To do this, it must be equipped with a dense metal lid, and on the sides on the inside, shelves should be provided for installing the grate.

The principle of smoking in such a barbecue is as follows: thin twigs are laid on the bottom fruit trees(apples, cherries or plums), and on the installed grate - prepared pieces of meat or fish. The brazier is covered with a lid and a fire is made under it. The branches inside from the high temperature begin to smolder, but due to lack of oxygen they do not light up. Thus, meat or fish are simultaneously baked at a high temperature and smoked in the smoke from smoldering fruit branches.

Unlike the rectangular braziers we are used to, American barbecue is often round.

The main difference between a barbecue and a barbecue is that the meat is not fried on skewers, but on a grill. In this case, not only coals, but also open fires can be used. Thus, the sides must be higher than those of the brazier, and fastenings for the grate are necessary on them.

Table: Pros and cons of different types of barbecues

TYPE ADVANTAGES LIMITATIONS
Portable (thin-walled)Compactness, ease of assembly, small weight, low price, mobility.Short service life, deformation and burnout of the main container is possible, they do not retain heat well.
Portable / mobile (thick-walled)It retains the temperature better, compared to the stationary one, it has a small weight, a long service life, and is resistant to corrosion.High price.
DisposableMobility, light weight, low price.Cannot be reused.
StationaryThe big sizes of a brazier, small heat emission, the longest term of operation.There is no possibility to move.
Allows not only to fry, but also to smoke meat and fish.Pretty hard to find for sale. Can be made to order or on your own.
Cooking not only on coals, but also on an open fire.Quite an expensive device.

Location selection

When choosing a place, you need to consider some important points:

  • you should not place the barbecue under trees or near shrubs, as the high temperature can scorch the branches;
  • do not place the device under film or fabric canopies, which can ignite due to heat;
  • it is advisable to take into account the wind rose so that smoke does not enter the windows of your house or neighbors;
  • the best option there will be a separate area equipped for barbecue, located near the main recreation area.

If the brazier is on the ground, it is advisable to pave the area under it refractory material(stones or paving slabs). In the rainy season, this will allow you to approach the barbecue without interference, and the structure itself will not sink into the ground over time.

So, we smoothly approached the main issue of our conversation. How to make a barbecue with your own hands?

Tools and materials

To make a metal brazier with your own hands, you will need the following tools and materials:

  • sheet metal (iron or steel);
  • bolts and other fastening materials;
  • welding machine;

In the manufacture of a metal brazier, one cannot do without a welding machine

  • hand drill or electric drill;
  • grinder with cutting discs for metal;
  • angle grinder;
  • pipe or corner (for legs);
  • tape measure and square for marking;

For the 'pattern' of the metal parts of the brazier, you will need a grinder

  • angle grinder;
  • hammer or small sledgehammer;
  • pipe or corner (for legs);
  • tape measure and square for marking.

DIY manufacturing technology

The brazier, which we ourselves will make of metal, will be as simple as possible. For a small company, 8-10 skewers with meat are enough, and if the need arises, you can cook another serving.

Skewers should not interfere with each other, but large gaps between them should be avoided so as not to waste heat.

Following these arguments, we calculate the length of the structure. Classic skewer places 5-7 pieces of meat. The depth of the brazier is determined practical methods. The meat should not be far from the coals, but it should not be placed too close, otherwise it will burn. The distance from the upper edge of the structure to the ground depends on the growth of the cook. Most often it is 75–125 cm.

Drawing

We make a drawing of our barbecue. The diagram may look something like the one shown in the following figure.

Brazier is not a space rocket, so the drawing can be the most primitive

We will use sheet metal with a thickness of 2–3 mm as the material.

So, we mark up the sheet using a square so that there are no distortions:

  • 70x20 cm - 2 pcs. (back and front walls);
  • 70x28 cm - 1 pc. (bottom);
  • 28x20 cm - 2 pcs. (side walls).

We cut the elements with a grinder.

Small slits will help fix the skewer in the right position

Top long side sides, you can make small cuts for a more secure fixation of the skewer in the selected position.

To ensure the flow of oxygen along the sides of the barbecue, a series of holes are made.

To ensure air flow inside the base-box, several holes should be drilled on the front and back panels with a diameter of 10 mm or more in increments of 10-15 cm from each other. Measure 2 cm from the bottom edge of the structure and draw a straight line, marking the places for the cutout.

Welding

For legs, you can use a corner of 20x20 cm or metal pipes with a diameter of at least 20 mm, 60–100 cm long (depending on the height of the cook).

If you use tubes, you can make the design collapsible. To do this, you will additionally need 4 bolts with nuts. Bolts are welded to each tube. In all four corners of the bottom of the box, you need to drill a hole with a diameter slightly larger than that of the bolts welded to the support legs. If corners are used, then they can simply be welded to the base.

If you want to add a smoking function to your barbecue, then it will be enough to weld two corners to the inside of its long sides at a height of about 7-10 centimeters from the bottom. You should also make a metal cover by welding small sides to metal base slightly larger than the size of the brazier. For convenience, it is recommended to weld a bracket on top of the lid, which will be used as a handle.

If desired, you can make a canopy or a shelf for firewood or coals, weld handles on the side walls, add a hook for a shovel or poker.

The brazier can be not just an 'iron box', but a real multifunctional kitchen

How to care for a barbecue

Yes, the brazier needs care. What is it?

  1. It is impossible to pour hot brazier with water yet (from temperature changes, the metal can be deformed).
  2. Stubborn grease, soot or soot can be easily removed with a sand cloth.
  3. Lubricate the grill from time to time vegetable oil applied to a clean rag - this will add shine and at the same time protect the structure from adverse weather conditions.

Unusual barbecue design (video)

In conclusion, we bring to your attention a short video that shows how to make a metal barbecue using the base from an old Singer sewing machine (Singer).

Born in 1977 in Donetsk, Ukraine. Graduated from the Donetsk Polytechnic Institute (now DonSTU) with a degree in Automated Control Systems. He worked at the Donetsk Metallurgical Plant. In 1997 he moved to Moscow, where for 8 years he worked in several construction teams.

A full-fledged picnic in nature is usually associated with barbecue and gatherings around the fire. The process of cooking meat on the grill gives the rest with friends solemnity and sincerity of the moment. Usually men are involved in the action, who claim that “barbecue does not tolerate female hands". We will not dispute their right to cook meat on coals, which came from ancient times, but we will consider how to make a barbecue with our own hands, we will provide photos, drawings and useful videos.

The birth of fragrant pieces of meat in the smoke is a kind of sacrament that can melt the heart of every impregnable beauty, and if you also make a brazier yourself, then the barbecue will become almost a culinary masterpiece.

Success factors for cooking delicious barbecue

The success of charcoal cooking depends on the following factors:

  • Properly marinated meat. You should not look for ultra-modern recipes that involve the use of mayonnaise, sauces and fermented milk products. A classic kebab is vinegar or wine, spices and parsley. And other marinades are only suitable for the softest and most tender pieces of meat. The organic acids found in parsley and vinegar are better for effective meat denaturation. In this case, this process means the breakdown of protein molecules to a state that will be most suitable for digestion by the body. Moreover, the acidic environment does not allow the fire to create carcinogenic compounds in food that are harmful to your health. The pieces of meat that you are going to cook on the grill with your own hands should be cubes with a side size of at least 4-5 cm. Thus, they will not dry out, but will be soft and juicy.
  • Mangal made by hand. The design of the brazier should be sized to fit skewers with sufficient clearances. Usually, the length of the brazier is equated to the length of the skewers, minus 15 cm. The width can be calculated from the conditions that there is at least 80 mm of space per skewer. The distance to the coals should be no more than 100 mm, and the depth of the fire should be up to 250 mm with slots for skewers along its long side.
  • Barbecue walls. The thicker they are, the better. And you should not clean off the soot from their surface, since this is a source of infrared rays, and without them you will only get meat baked on a fire. In order for the barbecue to be not only a tasty, but also a healthy dish, the air hole must be at the bottom, as in the photo presented by our Remontik website.
  • When the air flow passes through the coals from the bottom up, oxygen will burn out in it, and you will avoid the harmful oxidation of food enzymes. In the case of a lateral location of the blowing holes, oxygen will remain in the outgoing stream, which means that the barbecue cannot be considered healthy.
  • Fragrant coals. Browse through the archive of homemade barbecue videos. As a result, you will notice that the widest smiles of those present during the tasting of food cooked on firewood from fruit trees. Firewood from apricots, cherries, pears, apple trees and other fruit trees will give the dish a unique aroma and taste.
  • Making a brazier with your own hands. On the Internet you can find photos and drawings necessary to create a brazier with your own hands different types- from ordinary metal to stone or brick. Below we will consider all designs, moving from the simplest (made of metal) to more complex ones, such as a stone barbecue oven or a barbecue smokehouse.

The advantages of do-it-yourself metal grills

The main advantage of barbecues made of metal is their cheapness. Even if you buy the corners, metal sheet, pipes and rods necessary for the job, the price of the materials will be much less than the finished store product. Well, if we take into account that even metal trash in the form of cylinders, barrels, trimmings of corners and pieces of sheet metal will fit into this design, then the cost finished product will be close to zero.

Another indisputable advantage is the ease of manufacture. Each person who owns welding can repeat a complex structure. In addition, such barbecues are easy to install in a new place and you can take them with you on a picnic. Sufficient wall thickness allows the barbecue to serve for many years. In addition, you will enjoy the result. Having created a masterpiece from scrap metal with your own hands, you will remember it with pride.

Attention! Braziers with insufficient wall thickness can burn out, they can lead when overheated, and they can rust from moisture and rain.

Do-it-yourself brazier from sheet material

If you are planning to make a barbecue from sheet material, then it will serve you for a long time if the thickness is sufficient and the metal can withstand high temperatures don't worry about burning. Moreover, a product with a metal thickness of 4-5 mm will not lead, which often happens with structures welded from roofing sheets. Usually a device with a wall thickness of 1-2 mm may be needed for going out into the countryside. Its weight will be somewhat less, and the collapsible brazier, the drawings of which you will see below, is easy to transport.

Before you get started, stock up necessary quantity metal, 2-4 mm thick, a corner with a shelf width of 40 mm, an angle grinder and a welding machine, an electric drill with drills, a marker, a ruler and a building square. For the manufacture of legs, it is necessary to prepare a square or a pipe with a cross section of 400 mm 2 or more.

The work on the manufacture of a portable barbecue from sheet material is carried out in the following sequence:

  • The drawing is transferred to a metal sheet and the blanks are cut out with a grinder. Using a material 2 mm thick, a drawing is applied in the form of a sweep, and then the workpiece is bent at a right angle along the line where the side walls adjoin the bottom.
  • Take a sheet of metal.
  • Measure.
  • Cut out the required format.
  • We clean the edges of the sheet for the bottom.
  • We bend the sheet and grab it.
  • The side walls are welded perpendicular to the bottom with a square, after which the seams are carefully welded along the junction line.
  • All gaps are removed.
  • We take a welding machine and perform welding of joints.
  • We clean the seams.
  • With a drill with a diameter of at least 12 mm, holes are drilled for air inflow at the bottom of the side walls or bottom (it differs depending on the drawings used during the manufacture of the brazier with your own hands). If the air flow is carried out through the bottom, then it is important to provide an additional bottom box for the ash.
  • Part of the box is cut out.
  • Then the cover and partition are welded.
  • Drill holes for traction, with a diameter of 13 mm.
  • In long walls it is worth making cuts for skewers. It is good if you alternately cut grooves 6-8 cm and 3-5 cm long. Thus, you can set the desired height of the skewers above the coals.
  • We get a brazier ready for use: fill in the firewood, fill in the water and test.
  • The next stage involves studying the photo of barbecue grills from the Remontik portal or creating an independent frame where a barbecue grill assembled by oneself will be installed. This frame is made from metal profile and corner, using a bolted or welded connection. Its design should provide shelves for firewood, dishes and appliances.
  • If you decide to make a brazier with your own hands from metal of insignificant thickness so that you can take it to nature, you can not use the frame drawings, they will not be useful to you. It’s good if at the corners of the bottom we weld short pieces of a metal pipe up to 25 mm in diameter, into which a pipe of a smaller diameter (up to 20 mm) or pipe sections will be inserted as legs. You need to select their length, starting from your own needs.
  • Rod handles should be welded to the top of the short walls of the brazier for ease of carrying.
  • The roof, which is installed over the barbecue, will protect the hearth from rain and snow. It is not difficult to make it, it is enough to provide for several ceilings and side racks, on which roofing iron is subsequently laid.
  • Do not forget to decorate the work with various forged decorative elements that you can buy in the distribution network. Then the frame and the product are protected with a special metal brush and heat-resistant paint is applied. Upon completion of drying, the manufacture of a metal barbecue with their own hands is considered complete and they begin to fry the barbecue.
During work, you will be able to correct the drawings and make a brazier with your own hands, which best meets the aesthetic and technological requirements.

Make a collapsible metal grill with your own hands

If you are planning to transport an all-metal overall box, then think about creating a collapsible structure after reading our diagrams. Such products are easy to repeat, compact and quite durable. Plus, you can assemble a portable device in a few minutes. We invite you to familiarize yourself with the drawings and detailed diagrams that will allow you to create a brazier with your own hands. Photo of the process and step-by-step instruction help you get to the smallest details.

Scheme of a collapsible brazier

For work, you will need exactly the same tools and materials as for the manufacture of a one-piece welded structure. Additionally, you can stock up on reinforced metal shears, fasteners and a set of dies. Ready to start creating a collapsible brazier with your own hands? Our detailed instructions won't let you make a mistake. Decide on required dimensions products, given the size of the trunk of your car. We offer the best option that will suit most cases:

  • length - 600 mm (suitable for six servings, and if necessary, you can increase it at the rate of 100 mm per skewer);
  • width - 300 mm;
  • wall height - 150 mm (20 mm distance will go under the grate);
  • the height of the support legs is 600 mm (it’s good if the length of the legs completely matches the width of the brazier, because you are looking for a compact design).

Usually, any do-it-yourself collapsible brazier model, the video on the creation of which you will see below, includes the following elements:

  • frame from a metal corner;
  • side and longitudinal sides;
  • fasteners;
  • grate.

Step-by-step instructions for a collapsible brazier for barbecue

  • To create a frame from the corners, you need to weld a rectangle of the desired size (if you take the dimensions of the barbecue as a basis, you should weld a frame 570 mm long and 230 mm wide with your own hands). At the corners of the structure, 50 mm sections of a water pipe with outer size in 17 mm. In the future, they will be inserted into the support legs.
  • For the legs, four pipes with an internal diameter of 18-20 mm are required. On the side of the pipes that will be pushed into the ground, it makes sense to install plugs.
  • Cut out the side elements and the bottom of the structure from the metal sheet, cut grooves in them and drill holes.
  • In strict accordance with the brazier diagram, bolt the bottom to the frame. To do this, you need to drill holes by laying a frame of corners on the base of the structure.
  • As a grate, a grate welded from reinforcement or a bar with a diameter of 8-10 mm can be used. Along the edges of the grate, weld legs 20 mm long from the same material.
  • Fasten the sides on four spokes (rods). To do this, at their ends, you need to cut the thread for the wing nuts and weld the rods to the lower and upper sides of the short walls. If you do not have the opportunity to use welding, you can fasten the spokes with horseshoe bolts. All bolts must be installed from the hearth side to prevent sintering of their threads.
  • To assemble the design of such a brazier with your own hands, you will not need instructions - the process is extremely simple. It is enough to fix the bottom on the legs, then get the peeking ends of the spokes into the slots on the sidewalls and tighten them with special wing nuts. Upon completion of fixing the assembled sidewalls to the base of the brazier and installing the grate inside, the process can be considered completed.

Do-it-yourself barbecue from a gas block or barrel

propane tank or metal barrel- excellent objects for the manufacture of a stationary barbecue. This design has several manufacturing options - both with a hinged lid and without it. If you are planning to build a brazier from a barrel or a cylinder with your own hands, then we recommend that you start working from a drawing. In order to help, our construction portal "Remontik" offers to study a similar design scheme, where you can make the necessary changes.

We will not write about the necessary tool, since you already know what you need to have on hand. Among the materials you will need the same bars, pipes and corners.

A grinder can help you start creating a brazier from a balloon with your own hands. With it, you can cut the barrel in half length, height or cut the spectrum from its sidewall. In the future, it can act as a brazier cover.

Subsequent work must be performed in the following sequence:

  • The stand is made by bending the pipe in a semicircle, and then welding the legs to it. If you cannot bend the pipe, you need to weld two corners at an angle to each other, and then weld supports to their edges. As a result, two structures should come out, presented in the form of the letter M. All elements are interconnected by a welded bar grate, which as a result will act as a shelf for appliances and firewood.
  • Half of the barrel must be installed on a stand, and then welded.
  • With the help of a metal corner, the cut is ennobled - it carries not only an aesthetic load, but can also give additional convenience when laying skewers.
  • If the brazier that you plan to use also under the grill, then racks are welded from the sides of the barrel or stand for its installation. For barbecue to inside barrels (cylinder) you need to weld the brackets designed to install the grate.
  • At the bottom of the side walls, you need to drill holes with a diameter of 12-15 mm for air flow. It is better to make them in a checkerboard pattern.
  • It is possible that the barrel will be made on a stand so that its front cut is much lower than the back. In this case, high back wall protect the hearth from the wind. In this case, you do not have to ennoble the cut with a corner - it is enough to carefully clean the edges with a grinder. A horizontal grate installed along the front cut line will serve for barbecue, and in order to cook barbecue, you will have to weld a shelf on the back high wall for installing skewers with a width of 5 cm or more.
  • As a rule, the installation of the cover does not cause any difficulties. It is attached to the barrel with several strong loops. The machined edge of the lid makes the whole construction even neater.
  • A barrel with a lid can also be used as a smokehouse. To do this, it is necessary to attach to its side part chimney. You can design the drum ahead of time so that you can attach a pipe to the tank filler neck.

To make the brazier more beautiful will help decorative elements in the form of flowers, curls and leaves, bought on the construction market or made by hand. The roof and antique metal wheels will give a magical look to the structure of the brazier, which will help with its transportation. In other words, you can have unlimited scope for creativity.

Attention! If you decide to make a brazier from a gas cylinder with your own hands, weld several corners on its bottom with a shelf of 50-80 mm. Thus, the coals will be evenly distributed over the surface of the bottom, not gathering in a thick layer in the center.

Finishing of metal products

Upon completion of work, the metal brazier must be cleaned of rust using a metal brush. Put it on a grinder or drill. Welded joints must be cleaned with an emery wheel grinder.

Then the outer surfaces are degreased and painted with special heat-resistant varnishes and paints. Ornament in the form of curls and leaves can be ennobled with cobwebs, giving them the look of ancient products. No need to paint the inside of the products. Also, do not clean the side of the soot that appeared during operation. It is believed to provide positive impact on the quality of the prepared products.

Make a brick brazier with your own hands

Stationary brick barbecue, made with your own hands, compares favorably with its solidity - it has thick walls that keep heat for a long time and allow you to cook a barbecue or a wonderful shish kebab with your own hands without the risk of burning meat. Sometimes the design of barbecue grills is a single whole with a patio and a gazebo, being a whole complex that complements the style. garden plot. Having built this brazier, you can cook not just a barbecue, but also cook shurpa, fish soup, pilaf and smoke fish or poultry.

However, their significant drawback stems from the solidity of brick barbecues - they must occupy a permanent place. You will not be able to move it or hide it in the far corner. Therefore, it is necessary to carefully approach the choice of its location.

Do-it-yourself step-by-step construction of a brick brazier

Like any other building, the brazier needs a foundation. The ideal solution in this regard will strip foundation with a pit depth of up to 0.6 meters. It is packed with stone or large rubble and poured cement-sand mortar. Above the surface of the soil, you need to lay the foundation of rubble stone(up to 0.3 m in height). For such a fireplace, the best option would be colorful kiln brick or natural stone. Stone masonry is quite complex and requires experience. But be that as it may, you can build a brick brazier with your own hands, the main thing is to do the work without haste and carefully.

Before starting construction, we recommend that you carefully study the design of such a barbecue. Usually, all of them are a firebox with a low chimney. A grate is installed inside it, under which there is an ash pan chamber (several or one), closed by a blower. Under the ash pan, you need to equip a niche for storing firewood.

To build a brick brazier you will need: 400 pieces of bricks, river sand, clay, several grates, a copper hood for an exhaust hood, a corner 40x40 mm and 30x40 mm, doors or ash drawers.
  • You need to choose a place for the stove - under a gazebo canopy or in an open space. The composition of the solution directly depends on this. For the first option, you will need heat-resistant cement, and for the second, a clay solution is also suitable.
  • Take care of the arrangement of the foundation.
